Cafe Del Sol Göttingen in Göttingen

I apologize in advance for such negative feedback, but my dinner was also ruined. I ordered a Caesar salad... but they just brought me lettuce leaves smothered in a supermarket-bought "Caesar" sauce, with fried chicken pieces and three huge pieces of bread. It's supposed to be Caesar salad, and... it cost 15 euros, which, of course, isn't worth it at all. My mood was completely ruined. I'd also like to note that the place where we were sitting was littered with vomit, and no one cleaned it up.

Since the coronavirus pandemic, I've been a regular at various Café Del Sols. The service is good almost everywhere; in Göttingen, the overall package of service, cuisine, and ambiance is top-notch. Whether I drop in in the evening after a busy day or during my lunch break, the team works together at a high level. The managers and shift managers, in particular, lead their teams with a positive attitude. Unfortunately, I see this too rarely in my professional environment. You've created a place that you can only leave in a good mood.

We stopped here on the way back from a short trip, very close to the A7. We sat on the terrace with the dog and drank a coffee. It was very good. My husband's iced coffee was also good. We didn't eat anything.

We were there for the breakfast buffet: It was a dream at a very fair price. Drinks are extra. A selection of everything you'd expect.

The food is very good but the service is often not attentive enough, a glass should not be left empty for 20 minutes without being asked

We use the Cafe del Sol every few years when we're passing through, either for breakfast or, like today, for dinner.

A very trendy restaurant if you feel the vibe. I felt the vibe, but not enough in my stomach. The portions are rather meager, but the taste is still recommendable. I'm still undecided about whether I'll come back.

Fabian was a super friendly server, and the café has a very cozy atmosphere. We ordered the Pinsa Original with Serrano just before closing; it arrived quickly and tasted excellent.

The ambiance and staff are still impressive. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has declined somewhat.

A very friendly welcome with several seating recommendations – a great start! Shortly afterward, a friendly request for drinks was made, which were served promptly and attentively. Good selection at Sunday brunch: delicious cold dishes, fruit, good scrambled eggs, and salad/antipasta. The hot dishes were unfortunately disappointing; we would have preferred pinsa or small schnitzel, for example. The selection was limited to tortellini and rice with chicken. In the future, we'd rather try the Saturday buffet for €6 less.

I really enjoy being here. There's something to eat and drink for everyone. You can easily spend a few hours here—whether inside or outside. The breakfast buffet selection is good. Everything is fresh, including their own creations, and there's something for everyone. I highly recommend it! Unfortunately, the music is often very loud, so you feel like you're shouting at each other while talking.

The tables have grooves where all the old crumbs are trapped. I find it unpleasant. The food is dripping with grease. It sat heavily on my stomach. I won't be back.

A cozy restaurant with simply excellent food! Lots of different options, so something for everyone. One small drawback: we sat at a table that hadn't been cleaned for a long time. So we moved to a different table. And we had to wait a long time before we could order.

We met for breakfast in the morning and were free to choose our own table. The service team was attentive, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. After a long stroll through Göttingen's city center, we returned for the evening. We sat on the large outdoor terrace in the sunshine and relaxed at the end of the day. Even though we were there at the peak of dinner time and didn't want to eat anything, we weren't rushed but were served very friendly. Thank you for the service. The location is perfect, by the way, near the motorway entrance. We'll be back.

Beautiful ambiance, like any Café del Sol. Only three stars because of the dilapidated carpets... Very friendly, attentive service. Thanks to Elias!!! If you look at the carpets upstairs, you'll notice that any doormat in an old train station bar is cleaner. The original color is no longer visible. Where is the hygiene, please? Doesn't a health department care about a mango like that? THANKS FOR THE PROMPT REPLY! WE WENT THERE AGAIN A FEW DAYS AGO AND THERE WERE NEW CARPETS UPPER PART OF THE RESTAURANT. Overpriced crap food made from cheap poor ingredients. Specials on the menu included lots of “extra add ons” on the picture, add-ons like small mayonnaise, small ketchup and special sweet potato fries, which only were apparent on the bill. 14.90€ turned into €20.40 For clarification, non extras were mentioned on the so-called specials. Just one price and a picture of the special dish served with the extra add-ons not included in the advertised price. €3.4 for 0.25l water!! Imagine paying for ketchup in a restaurant with fries !! Outrageous. Shame on you.

We stopped to charge our EV on a roadtrip and were met with a kind welcome and showed the restroom. We decided to have some drinks and next time we pass by I’d love to try the food too, the pinsas looked very tasty and the restaurant was nicely decorated.

Only conditionally recommended. The food was very tasty and the price was right. Visually, the ambiance is quite appealing, but the noise level is extremely disturbing. It's impossible to have a conversation with your neighbor at a normal volume. We were there on Sunday lunchtime, and the leftovers from the breakfast buffet were being cleared away with a loud clatter; something like that could definitely be done more quietly – especially when guests are sitting nearby. Tables and chairs were being loudly moved around, cutlery was being put away... On top of that, there was nonstop music. The restrooms were very cramped and not particularly clean. It's a shame, but we won't be going there again.

We're currently sitting down for lunch and are delighted by the friendly service and the exceptionally delicious lunch dishes. In our case: barbecue chicken wings and aljo olio with shrimp. Despite its fine appearance, the spices are somehow lacking here. No comparison to the mild yellow curry or tiger chicken of yesteryear.

Overall, I'm always very satisfied when I visit Café del Sol in Göttingen. The food is delicious, as are the drinks – there's something for everyone here. The atmosphere is friendly and lively. One small downside: the tables are quite close together, which somewhat detracts from the coziness. A little more spacing or more comfortable seating – such as padded benches or a more relaxed interior design – would make the experience even more pleasant. Nevertheless, I always enjoy coming back – a lovely place for a relaxed meal with friends or family!

Very poor service, a very rude male with long blond hair at the bar. Drinks weren't filled properly; when I asked for a drink, it was overfilled, so everything overflowed and stuck to the sides. It would be nice to have friendly service again.

I was disappointed with the new summer drink, the Passion Fruit Spritz. It's a small glass and only half full...it looks puny despite the decorations. Tip: Large glass, lots of ice, and price it a bit more for me...

The food was delicious and everything came quickly, but you could really adjust the pasta portion size. It was just a handful, which was very little, and it didn't fill you up. The portion sizes for pizza/currywurst/burgers, etc., are perfect, but why are you cutting back so much on pasta? I won't be ordering pasta again. For 14.90, just a handful of pasta is just unacceptable.

Yes, I know CdS from Kassel and wasn't disappointed in Göttingen either. A hearty breakfast and delicious coffee.

A great place to stop for lunch on the long drive

We go to Cafe Del Sol with our family at least twice a year out of tradition. We've never had a bad experience there. I've always left full and satisfied.

Hello reviews seekers, I was traveling from Hamburg to Frankfurt. So had a chance to visit Cafe Del Sol. The ambiance was super good and the food was tasty and I have to appreciate Mr. Akshay who was working there. And he was super helpful and gave a good seat ( as I was alone) And helped me with menu. Thank you akshay. I would recommend anyone to visit this place when you are traveling. Thanks

I would have loved to review the food here, but after being ignored by the wait staff for over 15 minutes while the tables around me already had drinks and some of them had their food, I left. Shit happens!

The food came quickly and was generally OK, but for the price, you'd expect more for a waffle, for example! The café's interior is showing its age; dirty carpets and armchairs! The sinks in the restrooms are only partially functional! They could use some investment.

Great service. There were seven of us there, and they put us together without even asking. We had a bad experience at L'osteria in Göttingen.

We ate here with our children. Unfortunately, we were informed that this was still a restaurant and that crawling was to be avoided. I don't understand why they offer a changing table here but don't provide space for children in diapers. It would be new to me that children of such a young age can sit still at a table. Mothers with their children are thus completely excluded here. Our server was very friendly to us and the children; he didn't even look like he might trip. The restaurant was also very empty, and it was 12:00 noon. What a shame! We won't be back!

Ambience nice. Like all Café del Sol. Service very attentive and friendly. The food was standard good to very good. Only the burger was nothing this time. The beef patty and the bacon are extremely al dente. Felt like you wanted to bite off 4mm thick cardboard. Tasty in taste. No salt, nothing. The bowl and the spare ribs, however, were very good.

I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant. In April we visited the café and chose a place on the terrace - unfortunately we were very disappointed. The waitress who served our table pointedly leaned toward my partner, attempted to flirt, and made inappropriate comments about his car - apparently assuming I didn't understand her. Such behavior is disrespectful to guests. It was particularly sad to see so little solidarity and respect from one woman towards another woman. We definitely won't be returning.

Repeatedly disappointed. The food is just not good for the price. Some of it tastes good, but it's just too expensive for the quality. Unfortunately, compared to other restaurateurs, I can't make a recommendation. The dining room is like a hall, it echoes and is loud. It's definitely better outside, but the evening inside was really tiring. We were there with several people and it wasn't possible to talk to everyone at the table. The waitresses tried hard and were friendly, but due to the large number of tables they had no chance of offering very good service.

After a few years I was back at Café del Sol in Göttingen. I was very happy, but was disappointed with the food. The curry was always my highlight, but it seemed bland and looked completely different than before. The breading of the schnitzel was quite greasy, which could be done much better. The service was quick and friendly.

One of the best place in Göttingen. Wonderful ambience, great service and delicious food. We got to know about this place in January 2025 and since then we are the regular visitors.

We were there last weekend, a large group of women. At the beginning the service was “ok” then it stopped being available. The food at Sol has gotten worse! What was not right for all the ladies, including me, was the sanitary facilities! Disastrous, I also told the service when I collected it: at least €260.

Nice ambience and delicious, if not entirely first-class, food (which I didn't expect there, so full marks anyway!) But with a large selection! Only the very young waitress was... ... overwhelmed? ... new to the job? But she was “always trying very hard” and really very friendly. I was in a good mood and had no problem repeating the order two or three times until it finally arrived. So if you're looking for a relaxed, tasty opportunity to spend some quality time, perhaps with your sweetheart or family, you're in good hands there!

Unfortunately service wasn't that great. We were a larger group. Some of us got food and the others got food as the first part was already finished. Mistakes with the drinks, which for God's sake isn't a problem, but then getting soggy and snappy is really humbling. The food was very good and the prices were absolutely top.

We had dinner here this evening and had often heard good things about Café Del Sol. It was very loud inside, but more pleasant outside. The drinks were very tasty. You have to wait quite a long time for the food, but it's not a problem at all. However, one of the two dishes (burger with fries) arrived completely cold. When asked, the entire dish was taken back and prepared again. Long wait again. And the second burger was only lukewarm, but at least not cold. The table behind us also had their dish returned. Very unfortunate. However, the service was always very friendly and should be praised :) However, due to the circumstances, we will not be coming back despite the long wait.

Good coffee, pleasant atmosphere and service

The breakfast brunch on Sunday was alright but absolutely not worth the money (20,90€). Drinks weren‘t included and the offer was not that high quality as it is with comparable places. Also, they didn’t have any veggie alternatives and the staff barely understood the question and rather smirked at the request. Would not recommend. A shame to have wasted our money.

For my birthday we reserved a table for 3 people. After a long wait, our order was taken by a somewhat listless waitress, and after another long wait, drinks and therefore the food arrived - but only for 2 people. While our food was being served, our third person was told that lasagna was out and that she had to choose something new. While two people ate, one person had to choose a new dish and wait again. Food was okay, potatoes came relatively quickly, but it was still stupid for a group birthday dinner. After paying (everything together with a card) my girlfriend was suspicious because we had paid quite a lot. We weren't offered a bill or EC receipt at all and the waitress quickly disappeared. When we asked that we would like the bill, she didn't bring it to us until we asked again. There we noticed that we had also paid for the lasagna, she came back and only reimbursed us €10 and only when we were informed that lasagne cost €12.50 did we get the full price refunded. Overall she was rather unfriendly and there was no apology. For a birthday dinner the evening was rather disappointing.

Visit on March 29th, Saturday evening. Unfortunately it was very full and there was no free seat at the beginning. So far so good. We were offered a seat at the bar and were quickly asked for our order. We quickly order food and drinks. The drinking came very quickly. Unfortunately, the waiting time for the food was not at all reasonable because we waited almost an hour for the food. Even after asking, when they said it would only take three minutes, it was almost a 15 minute wait again. Yes, it was busy, but for a system restaurant, this waiting time is simply not appropriate. What was also annoying was that at the beginning we were given no indication that ordering food might take longer. If we had known this beforehand, we wouldn't have stayed at all. It also happened that the wrong things were delivered to us while we were waiting and this also happened to those sitting next to us. The negative highlight came at the end when we decided not to tip because of this long waiting time, when the waiter very intrusively asked why we were “only” paying the prices without a tip. He is a trainee and depends on it. First of all: Tipping is a voluntary service and we are not responsible for the employees' salaries. If everything had been ok, we would have been happy to give a tip. But not like that. The statement was therefore extremely unprofessional and outrageous. We won't be coming back!

We had breakfast there and it was very tasty, and the coffee was also very good. There are also food and children's chairs, pictures and pens for small children. We will definitely come back. In the evening you should make a reservation 😉

I didn't eat anything there, just two cappuccinos to go. Selling an espresso with a bit of milk foam as a cappuccino for €4 is crazy. Unfortunately, it wasn't good either.

Highly recommended... you should make a reservation on Saturday evening. Service very nice. Also crayons for children 👍 Food was very good. It was just a shame that our 8-year-old daughter got her Kidsschnitzel last, while I had my Pinsa in front of me for 10 minutes. Children's meals should always go out first 😉

As soon as I ordered the drink I knew it wasn't going to be a good evening. One drink came completely wrong and my wheat glass was so dirty that I had to return it. Furthermore, I later found a piece of plastic in my mayonnaise, which can be seen in the picture. When I pointed out that there was plastic in my food, they responded very hesitantly and offered me a new mayonnaise. When paying, there was no apology or other waiver of a price. What was even more cheeky was that the wrong drink was charged, even though it was more expensive than the one we ordered. I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant as the guest is literally trampled on.
