Down Town Diner & Motel Müggelheim in Berlin

Great atmosphere, good and, above all, friendly service, centrally located yet quiet... Today I have to correct myself: After an hour of waiting for a burger, I've lost my appetite, and that's with the place completely empty... - at least they tried to charge the wrong price for the beer... [And then the hassle with my wife because I still gave them TG ;-) ]

We waited over 1 and a half hours for the food, the chicken patty was black from the bottom and the bar staff was unfriendly, no recommendation and definitely not going back

Great food with excellent service, and the soft ice cream is also excellent.

We found the food very tasty. They just need to come up with a different way of serving the pasta with cheese sauce, otherwise you might end up eating the paper next time. A quick tip: when "talking" about other guests, close the window where the conversation is taking place.

The ribs were incredibly tender and flavorful, the fries were crispy, and the coleslaw was refreshing and delicious—all around, a great meal!

Just lost €10 with a €2 tip on a sour soft serve. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone at all.

The Downtown used to be really good. That's unfortunately changed. The iced tea was watery with a hint of lemon and wasn't convincing. The pulled pork burger is very small and has a rather light topping. The Texas burgers are larger. But neither burger tasted great. The fries were hard and completely overcooked, so they had to be returned. The new fries weren't exactly served courteously by the waitress. The wedges were mostly okay. Sauces or dips, even mayonnaise and ketchup, have to be ordered and paid for separately. The guacamole was too chunky to qualify as a dip. The price for the amount of dip is, in my opinion, disproportionate. The staff seemed disinterested and more concerned with smoking breaks than serving the guests. Our conclusion: we won't be back and can't recommend it. One star is actually too much.

Ice cream out of the house! Today, unfortunately, was the last time we, as Müggelheim residents, went there to buy soft serve. Prices up – quantity down. A "large" soft serve costs €4, and it disappears into the cup so quickly that not even a tip of the ice cream is visible! The soft serve depicted at the entrance should be removed. On top of that, the young staff take so long to give you change that the small amount of ice cream is melting before you're even served. In any case, WE're done for once and for all! What a shame, a real shame!

I normally love eating here, but today during my visit, a refrigerated truck (a large truck) with its engine running (for cooling) was parked right in front of the outside seating. It was very noisy and exhaust fumes while I was eating. The female server told me the driver would be leaving soon, but after 20 minutes, he was still there. I find it unprofessional that such deliveries are made during customer/restaurant business hours and not before or after. Unacceptable for the customers, unless you enjoy eating next to exhaust fumes and very loud noises... At some point, I went inside and heard the server mocking my question about how long the truck would be there, saying that it was part of the process, and they were happy about the delivery. That's true, of course, but it could be arranged differently. Add to that the lack of respect for the guest. The male waitress who was there, however, was extremely polite and asked several times whether the food was tasty, etc. The food was good, but in my opinion the price was too high for the quality. However, since a good atmosphere is just as important to me when eating, I can only give it 2 stars. It's a shame, the place used to be very good.

I don't know what other people are imagining. The price/performance ratio was very good. The food was great, and the staff were always up for a laugh. Very nice and friendly. We felt very comfortable. Thank you for that. What you've done is wonderful. We'd love to come back.

We wanted to give Downtown another try yesterday. Their delivery service is poor, so we thought maybe eating in would be better. Unfortunately, not. There were four other tables occupied—meaning it wasn't full. Two of the four tables already had their food. That left seven people waiting for food when we arrived. Still, we had to wait 30 minutes before we could place our order. After another 30 minutes, we had to change our takeout order because our child was getting increasingly restless. The staff became very cold towards us. The food was also of poor quality. The fries were burnt and hard, the burger patty was burnt, and the salad was old. Considering it's all just ready-made food, the wait times are unjustified, and the final quality is disappointing.

Really good diner... I took a bike ride to the outskirts of Berlin today and just had the Texas burger with fries, and I have to say, of all the US diners in and around Berlin, this burger was the best. The bun seemed fluffy and fresh. The patty was juicy, and the other toppings—lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber, and barbecue sauce—were just right. The fries were crispy... Wham whispered gently in my ear...in short, everything was perfect. The service was super friendly, courteous but not intrusive...the price/performance ratio was absolutely fine. I'll definitely come back here...

Location is cute and well thought out. Service took 40 mins just to take order.. ( bare in mind we have a young child aswell ) After another 40 mins still no food. Due to small child we asked of its possible to have it as take away instead once of staying here. Attitude went from mildly friendly to just arrogant and ignore as much as they could. It took over an hour to then actually get the food. Sweet potatoe fries were mainly burt. Normal fries were overcooked And chicken burger patty was burnt on one side We used to order delivery untill this statted taking 1h30 mins each time. So we thought we give it a chance to go there. But with even just a few tables present this service was disappointing to say the least

We ate at the Garage again. It was delicious, as always, whether it was the homemade lemonade or the burgers. The service was excellent. It certainly won't be our last time there! :-)

This was my second time eating here. I waited an hour for the food and the service was quite unfriendly. The burger was completely burnt on the bottom. I don't need to have that again. Friendliness should be the bare minimum when everything else isn't right.

Look, in life, few things are important, but after 25 km of cycling with my daughter, finding this place in Müggelheim was like entering paradise. It's a small Hof decorated in an American style with American food, there's even an entire school bus. The table lamps were made from engine cylinders and crankshafts! The staff was incredibly friendly. The people had pleasant smiles, were attentive and caring. The price was totally reasonable, our burgers were delicious (pulled pork and cheeseburger). And for dessert, a Softeis. I couldn't ask for more in this life. I wish everything were always like this, but we had to go home. I recommend it a thousand times.

We ate at the restaurant. It's a nice family-run American diner-style establishment with an attached motel. It feels authentic. Friendly service and the food is OK, but quite expensive for what's on offer.

We visited this restaurant last year, attracted by the impressive pictures of the burgers and American cars. It was all really cool, of course. Unfortunately, the burger and fries we ordered arrived completely cold... so I can't give the food a good review.

We were served immediately by very friendly waiters, and despite the restaurant being packed, we received excellent service. The food was exceptionally good and took a little longer to arrive, but we were also a very large group (around 10). Conclusion: The restaurant is very good and highly recommended if you like American style.

I rarely complain in restaurants if I don't like the food. I pay and simply never go back. I was used to much better food from Downtown Burger than what I was offered today. The coleslaw went back because it was inedible. Completely oversalted. The patty was fried to death. The burger bun was hard around the edges (as if it had been exposed to air for too long). The burger only tasted of bread and mayo. The fries were hard on the outside and inside. You don't serve that kind of food. You throw it away. Bottom line: I'm never eating there again. If it's true that the manager is in the kitchen, then she doesn't know what she's doing and should find someone who knows what they're doing or close the place before things get any worse. What a waste of money, time, and poorly prepared food. Whatever happened to the Downtown Burger from a few years ago... it was amazing 😢

As of July 2025, unfortunately, the quality has become extremely inconsistent these days. It's very difficult when you're used to something, and then everything from the fries to the coleslaw to the burger isn't up to scratch. The burger patty was grilled/fried to death compared to before. Such a shame. We waited an hour for our food, even though we arrived before the main rush. We've given them several second chances over the past two years. I hope the quality improves and becomes more consistent again.

The soft serve ice cream is great. The restaurant has many beautiful decorative details. Unfortunately, the vegan burger didn't really impress me.

There's no need to eat ice cream here... Expensive and bad... The chocolate ice cream is completely sugar-free... That might please your health insurance company, but unfortunately it's inedible.

We always had fond memories of the Downtown Diner, but this time it was a complete disaster! When we arrived, we heard at the table behind us that they'd already been waiting for over an hour and it seemed like they'd simply been forgotten, but we didn't think anything of it. There were six of us. We also quickly noticed that the two young waitresses were completely overwhelmed, as it was very busy and they also had to run the ice cream cart. The manager was also there and was doing all the cooking on her own. As we waited, we saw that the staff was already walking through the restaurant with frozen food. All of this made us nervous, but we didn't let it spoil our good mood on this beautiful Sunday. In the end, we waited a little over an hour for our food, which wouldn't really be a problem if the food was delicious. Unfortunately, this was also a disaster. Almost everything was burnt. Be it corn on the cob, potato wedges, burger patties, garlic bread, or chicken wings. One of us also ordered spaghetti, and the menu stated "with plenty of Parmesan." There was only about a teaspoon of it on the pasta itself. When we asked if he could have some more, we were simply told that we would have to pay extra for more Parmesan. The icing on the cake, however, was when we pointed out to the staff that all the banned food was out. After another discussion with the manager, one of the staff members came back and told us bluntly: "Please leave the restaurant now; you don't have to pay either." In other words: We had to leave our full plates and leave, extremely hungry. Conclusion: Never again!

I passed by here on my motorcycle and just had to stop. I actually just wanted to look around and have a coffee... but then I couldn't resist and just had to eat one of those delicious hamburgers... I'd definitely love to come back 👍

Once and never again We went to this diner for the first time yesterday because we'd heard the burgers were good and the atmosphere was appealing. The location was quite nice and the staff friendly, but we really didn't like the food. The burger bun and meat were very dry, the mushrooms were burnt, the wedges were also very dry and tasteless, and even the iced tea wasn't good. The chef or owner has probably changed—in any case, in our opinion, you can't say the burgers there are good. You can eat very good burgers in Berlin, but definitely not there. What a shame.

Seven of us ate there, and it was delicious. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was very tasty, and there was a good selection of burgers and finger food. This wasn't our first time here, and we're always pleasantly surprised and would happily return.

The burgers are the best around here. The shop, the grounds, and the owners are super kid-friendly. My nephew had the best restaurant experience today with all the beautiful old American cars.

Waited for 40 minutes for drinks. The waitress, who was supposed to serve us, just left before bringing us anything without saying anything. The order was wrong, they brought a different drink instead of what we asked for.

I grew up in Müggelheim and have known the shop for over ten years – it was our absolute favorite for a long time. Our last visit was all the more disappointing, though. We waited an hour and a half for our food, even though we'd only been told beforehand that it might take a little longer. The guacamole smelled strongly of alcohol – clearly spoiled – and the meat was burnt and completely dried out. The service was provided exclusively by teenage assistants (probably 15-16 years old) who were completely overwhelmed. This isn't their fault, of course, but a clear management error – putting such young people into such a situation without adequate support is simply unfair and irresponsible. A woman working in the kitchen seemed drenched in sweat and extremely fidgety – unfortunately, she didn't seem trustworthy. When we mentioned the spoiled guacamole, all we got was a terse, "Yes, of course it's not good." No concession, no apology, no offer. Only when we were about to pay and leave did the offer of a drink or a discount come – too late. My wife was throwing up that evening, and we're really hoping she doesn't get food poisoning. I never thought I'd have to write something like this about this place, but it wasn't just bad – it was downright disgusting. Even one star is too much here.

Quality isn't good enough for the price. A piece of lettuce is used in the burger instead of small leaves or sliced ​​lettuce, which is just not acceptable... especially when the piece takes up half the space in the bun and is quite dark because it's already wilted. The taste isn't bad, but the service is disappointing. Dishes are placed on the table instead of being handed out, as are the drinks. Change isn't given correctly. Some employees aren't very communicative because they're very taciturn. Restrooms aren't very clean, and there's no soap available. The location and ambiance, however, are good to very good.

The food probably tastes good, but by the time you get it, you're not hungry anymore. Update: After a total of three hours, the food finally arrived, and it didn't even taste good. The patty was burnt. Beef sausage isn't the best choice for a hot dog. The salad tastes stale, and the fries aren't exactly eye-catching. PLEASE DON'T GO HERE!!!

We were out for practical purposes again and decided to go to a diner. The Downtown Garage is a quaint place, and if you also have a penchant for old cars and spare parts, you're in good hands here. The burgers are really great and, above all, hot. Fries with hot cheese sauce with the pulled pork burger are fantastic. They don't skimp on the sauce on the burgers either. You can really get yourself messed up. 🤣 Above all, the atmosphere there is really chilled and relaxed. You can't go wrong with a delicious beer. The tables are clean and don't have any sticky residue from the previous occupants. We will go there again. You can also stay overnight there, as there's a motel attached. Also in a quaint style. The staff was very friendly and reliable. We also bought two shirts with the Downtown logo on it. My conclusion: definitely stop by and unwind, and enjoy.

I was back today after years, and it's as amazing as ever! Great location with a great atmosphere. The burgers and especially the hot dog were amazing! By the way, the best fries I've had in a long time! And they have delicious soft-serve ice cream in the old American school bus 🍦 I need to come here more often 😉

Today was my first and last visit here. Right from the start, I was informed that it would take 1.5 hours for the food to arrive because "the kitchen was completely overwhelmed." I gave up trying to order at least a coffee after 30 minutes because no server felt compelled to come over. The soft serve ice cream seemed to be bad because it tasted sour. Although the clerk was repeatedly alerted to this by different customers, sales continued unabated. I can't understand the recommendation of this diner by friends. I'm shocked at how unprepared and uncoordinated this establishment was. Yes, it was a holiday, but there weren't crowds of customers; most just waited for their food, usually for over an hour. And if that leads to chaos, I don't even want to know what happens when it gets really busy.

The vibe is not bad. But think twice to eat here as you need to wait for two hours to get your food. Moreover, this arrogant guy at the bar believe it’s your fault without knowing in advance that they only have one stuff in the kitchen. We even had not right to cancel our food after waiting 1.5 hours. What a joke.

Unique location, tender, juicy spare ribs, generous portion sizes, and attentive and friendly staff. Satisfactory value for money—see you again soon.

This American restaurant is very cozy. The food is really tasty. The fries are the best there. Sometimes you see workers there who are very stressed, but that's not a bad thing at all. So well suited for a sports evening.

Unfortunately very variable quality. Sometimes a tender burger patty with a good fat content, sometimes like it comes from a 400g mince pack, tough and unseasoned. I don't have the line to order here more often. Unfortunately it's a matter of luck. It's a shame, especially because there is another way.

We are often hungry and of course thirsty after a motorcycle tour. In the diner, our cravings for delicious food and cool drinks are 100% satisfied. Dessert is always served with delicious soft ice cream. A great restaurant! The staff is super friendly and totally cool. You really feel like you're in an American diner. It's totally comfortable, whether you want to sit inside or outside. And the food is a 10/10. I've been there twice now. The first time I ate a burger and it was delicious. The second time I had a hot dog and it was huge. In general the portions are really really good. I can wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant to everyone.

It's been a long time since we ordered from Down Town Diner. We like to sit there every summer. We spontaneously ordered to be picked up in the evening on Valentine's Day and it was ready after 20 minutes to the minute at 7:00 p.m., when we had announced our arrival. The food was freshly prepared and the quality was very good. We paid €16 for two burgers and a large portion of fries with dip. After this good experience, we will definitely order there again and also eat there. We also had three sweet tulips in our bag to match the day. The service was also very nice. After this experience I can only recommend it 😋🍔

If you love a good burger, I recommend the Down Town Diner. Really awesome location in typical US style with lots of beautiful details for motor enthusiasts. The ambience including the forecourt invites you into the US atmosphere and you will be welcomed by a great and friendly team who will be happy to tell you about the house's great homemade specialties. Your mouth will start to water just hearing all the delicacies and how much attention to detail they are served with. Forget the typical burgers from the fast food chains and experience the homemade enjoyment in the Down Town Diner and treat yourself to a finger food mix with the best mozzarella pastix I have ever experienced. We are especially looking forward to our next visit when spareribs are available again. I say only 14 hours in the smoker. Many thanks to the entire team. See you next time.

I ordered from you on Sunday. Was convinced that the taste had improved a lot, only to find out that I got food poisoning from the food a day later. I had a fever and was throwing up all the time and that continued even at Christmas 😕.
