Really good food. Friendly and attentive staff.

Zero stars for unfriendly staff. Unfortunately, we immediately lost our appetite. It's a shame about the good mood. Better to go to one of the other nice restaurants!

I know Donisl from another time. Today the charm of a train station hall. There was no service in a positive sense. My meal (roast beef with dumpling and red cabbage) was completely cold. My wife's food (half a roast chicken...) wasn't brown, but it was fatty and popped. When I pointed out that the food was cold, the boss in charge replied "everyone was stressed, there was a lot going on". My answer that as a guest I don't have to care and that I can ask for a hot meal was met with the answer: "You're right, but I can't change that." No attempt to accommodate the guest in any way other than offering an espresso. We gratefully rejected this. Simply underground, so never again!!

We wanted to end the evening nicely, but the waiter had a very friendly manner that left my spit stuck in my throat. The waiter didn't know any friendliness. Anyone who shouts and insults doesn't need guests or tips. - 1 is still an exaggeration

Waren um 15.00 da. Ober wollte uns erst gar nicht bedienen, konnten dann doch nach nochmaligen Nachfrage und warten Weißwürste bestellen . Bestellte noch einen Sanbitter für 8.00 Euro der in der Karte als alkoholfreie Variante von Aperol spritz angeboten wurde, nur leider eine andere Menge....siehe Foto

Disappointing service despite good food - unfortunately not an isolated case We were a large group of 23 people and had reserved at Donisl. The food? Solid, no complaints. But the service? Unfortunately, another catastrophe. Unfriendly, disrespectful and completely inattentive - as if we were a burden instead of paying guests. The last time we visited, the interaction was rough, but this time it finally became clear: friendliness doesn't seem to be on the menu here. If you want good food and are happy to be ignored or insulted - go ahead, Donisl is (probably not) looking forward to seeing you!

I've been there a few times now... my impression is mixed. On the one hand, the Donisl's premises make an impression and there is often live music. On the other hand, the staff is pretty cold. It's hard to create a relaxed, relaxed atmosphere. The food isn't really good either. The white sausages and the snacks are okay, but the knuckle, for example, was the worst I've ever eaten. The meat was incredibly tough and the crust was very bad or rock hard. My feeling immediately was that it was already 3 days old. I really expected something different in a house like the Donisl with its history. Not to mention the fact that my knuckle was first forgotten and everyone finished eating before I started... Kind of just a tourist rip-off🤷‍♂️ Update September 24th: Probably not believable or funny for some people - for a good knuckle I'd like to go to Berlin and go to the "Weißes Rössl" = the Donisl can "take a leaf out of it" (best knuckle of my 41 year old life) The beer is very good! 2 stars for the beer and 1 for the location or is it the other way around!? 🤔

Well. Was there yesterday. Only upside is that it’s close to Metro. Waiter uninterested in taking order. After main courses we ordered 2 desserts, received one. As he said this should be enough, seems he knows better… but at the end he did not forget to ask for tip… no words.

The two of us went to Donisl and decided on the Käsespätzle - I got the large portion, my girlfriend the small portion. Both portions were filling, and the price-performance ratio is really unbeatable for downtown Munich. €41 for two meals including a special and half a beer is more than fair these days. In addition to the great ambience, we were particularly impressed by the excellent service. Our request for stronger cheese spaetzle was taken seriously and implemented creatively - really great! A big thank you to Sebastian, who served us incredibly warmly and individually. We felt welcome throughout. Another highlight: When my friend didn't quite finish her portion, it was lovingly wrapped up for us - in the form of a small "handbag", accompanied by a charming joke. Details like this make the difference! To be honest, we are surprised by the current rating of 3.9 stars (as of February 1, 2025). Our experience was entirely positive and we clearly deserve 5 stars! Of course we didn't try all the dishes, but the dishes we saw from other guests also looked very appealing. A small suggestion for improvement: The menu could be designed a little more attractively - but ultimately you don't eat the menu. Conclusion: We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Donisl and will definitely come back. Absolute recommendation! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Es ist ein Münchner Traditionslokal mit bayerischer Küche. Leider in den letzten Jahren mehr auf Touristen ausgerichtet. Die Preise sind selbst im lokalen Vergleich etwas überteuert. Der Service im vollen Lokal war etwas gestresst. Das Essen schmeckte aber gut und an Fasching war eine gute Stimmung, teilweise mit Live Musik.

The food came after 40 minutes even though the place was almost empty! What was even worse was that the waiter asked for a 10% tip without any information! There's nothing like that on the menu. According to him, “my colleague said that tomorrow.” That’s outrageous! Once and never again

We had to wait for a while before being seated due to an argument between the wait staff and some customers, which wasn’t a great start. Once seated, I ordered the pork knuckle and pork belly, served with sauerkraut and potato dumplings. The pork knuckle was extremely difficult to cut and far too salty, which made it hard to enjoy. The pork belly, on the other hand, was cooked perfectly, but the sauce was overly salty as well. I’m not sure if that’s intentional, but the saltiness overpowered the dish. The beer, however, was excellent and the best part of the meal.

I was very impressed when I entered the restaurant, but unfortunately I quickly realized that I wasn't in good hands here! There were four of us with two dogs. Apart from the (in our opinion) rather poor food, the service was absolutely out of place. You didn't feel welcome in any way! When you ordered and asked for changes, you were just told: “We don’t have that, that’s not possible, that’s not what’s on the menu!” The actual order was only half taken before the lady ran away! She seemed absolutely overwhelmed! A waitress walked past our table in a bad mood, asked if it would taste good, but didn't wait for an answer and another order wasn't possible either! When complaints were made, people rolled their eyes in annoyance and sighed deeply. Unfortunately I can't make any recommendations here! I've eaten much tastier food elsewhere with nicer service! This is not worth the price!

A very nice restaurant with friendly service Unfortunately, between courses you don't ask whether you should continue straight away, but rather just bring the main course before the dirty dishes from the main course have been cleared away. The pork knuckle was INCREDIBLY delicious

It has nothing to do with tradition anymore... the currywurst is served with chips from the bag from the supermarket! Own It's really a shame, we've never experienced anything like this before! Went to the inn in December to eat the onion roast, well; The recipe needs to be optimized. Roast beef wasn't as desired, onion wasn't roasted, just a little braised. Expected more.

Good day, we visited restaurants on Friday 27th December evening. It was 4 of us. No problem with getting a tabel. The restaurant has very nice traditional fit out. Despite the fact that it is a very big hall, the atmosphere is nice and you feel "warm". A lot of beautiful paintings and few sculptures. The mane is composed of very traditional (read "heavy") Bavarian food, but of good quality. Very professional and helpful service. I strongly recommend in case there is more then 2 of you to start from "Bavarian assorted cold cuts"- believe me you would not need any starters more. I guess that it goes without saying that beer quality is very good one. We paid for above mentioned starter, 4 main dishes + beer and wine ca EUR 170-180. But it is worth. I recommend a lot. Much better than a neighbor venue. Lukasz

Good Bavarian cuisine, we were served very well. Unfortunately, our reserved room was exchanged for several tables in the restaurant.

In the heart of Munich, right next to the Rathaus, it is a good place to stop, especially if you have the opportunity to sit at one of the outdoor tables overlooking Marienplatz. We had dinner inside and the place looks very "fresh" and very clean, despite being one of the historic breweries in the city. Menu not exceptional if you don't have exquisitely German tastes, but I had some not bad spätzli with mushrooms. Curious that to go to the toilet you need to ask the staff for a token, I think it is due to the central location in the square. However, it works well and the staff juggles the many customers without problems. It's not the best place in Munich but, especially if you don't book in advance at the most famous venues, it's not a bad choice.

Serving white sausages and then saying there are no more pretzels is not possible in Bavaria. Never again Donisl

We would like to give a big shout out to the waitress Pronounce Maya! She was absolutely fantastic - attentive, friendly and always smiling. She really made our evening special with her warm manner and first class service. You can immediately tell that she is passionate about her work. Thank you for this exceptional service – it couldn’t be better!

Never had such a bad meal, when I asked to speak to someone in charge, the answer was “the person in charge doesn’t have time” and a total bill for 150€ of food!!! This makes me wonder about the supposedly good and traditional pub! Insanely disappointing! Really! As a Munich child, it's really just sad!

I wouldn't have thought it, but the food wasn't good. The Bavarian steak was fatty and tough, the roast ox was not my cup of tea. Then you think that in such a "pass-through restaurant" at least the service is fast and reliable, but that disappointed me too. We were only told that the side dish had changed since yesterday when it was served. A food order was definitely forgotten, but the forgetting was denied. Came here during the Euros, this was the first restaurant in Germany and in Munich I've dined in. Authentic German food reflected pure Bavarian culture instilled with a surreal atmosphere.

We arrived after 9.30pm. They seated us and handed us the menu. We were aware that the time was a little late to have dinner in Germany… In fact, the waiters warned us that they could only serve us beer, without any dish, neither savory nor sweet, nor even a bit of bread or pretzels... Too bad we got up and left hungry 🙂

Shockingly poor experience at Donisl. The waitress was rude right from the start, refusing to let us sit while waiting for our friend unless we ordered a drink. When our friend, fluent in German, ordered in German, we asked for chicken but were served duck instead—an inexcusable and careless mistake. When my friend raised the issue, the waitress arrogantly insisted she was right and even had the audacity to touch her. As if that wasn’t bad enough, she interrupted our private conversation to declare she understood our language and didn’t need our tip (“bahşiş”). Such unprofessional, disrespectful behavior is unacceptable and completely tarnishes the reputation of what’s supposed to be a well-known establishment.

German cuisine restaurant near the central square of Munich. The menu presents the classics of the Bavarian tradition. The dishes we tasted were good, the prices perhaps a little above average.

We were at Donisl yesterday and we have to say we can't understand the bad reviews. Our server was extremely attentive, friendly and funny. You never had an empty glass, really first class service. The food was also delicious and came quickly. The cheese spaetzle was very good, but a side salad would have been nice. Overall, highly recommended. The interior design was also very nice.

We were there about 30 minutes before the reservation and asked if it was possible to have a drink beforehand until the table was free. But they were harshly sent away again and were supposed to come back at least 5 minutes before reservation. We then had a drink around the corner at Zum Stiftl. To eat: In general the portions are not generous. The whole group's food was consistently lukewarm. Now specifically with my meal: Roast ox with milli-cream potatoes and red cabbage for €25.50, the milli-cream potatoes were simply replaced with a dumpling without telling me and the red cabbage only came after repeated requests. Of course something can happen, but then I expect that to be communicated. The innkeeper/head waiter was not interested in our complaints. Reluctantly, the whole group was given a shot and my meal and another from the group at half price. In the end, tourist trap, mass processing. But the atmosphere was pleasant.

Il costo nella norma, sicuramente più basso di Firenze. Locale senza lode e senza infamia. Prezzo nella media e servizio sufficiente.

Was visiting Donisl with my girlfriend. The waitress was very nice to us, but her treatment of the trainees was shameful. It's a shame to see that, despite hard work, these are being trashed in front of the guests here in the store. Not good conditions for the trainees and therefore not a good atmosphere for the guests.

An impossible restaurant. 1 star is too much, but unfortunately there is no other way!!! Waiting time for a simple meal at 2:45 p.m. (it wasn't full!!) was over 45 minutes. After 45 minutes, the waiter informed me that it would still take a while! Like many others, I have a 1 hour lunch break. Not even an apology came. Never ever in this store. I don't understand why they are so confident in themselves.

The sausages that I ordered were not fresh because when I put a fork in it there was a white gas out of it. However the water said that everything had been fresh. The other reason is that you can't pay by card, only cash that is embarrassing for a restaurant that is in the center.. super strange. Not recommend;!

The restaurant is perfect. The pork knuckles are truly legendary. The beer is fantastic and the service is also perfect. If you are in Munich, you should definitely go there. Price performance is right.

The interior is very successful. Perfect for conveying the clichéd image of Bavaria to tourists. However, the service was not particularly attentive, even though there were many seats available on Sunday afternoon. The cold cheese spaetzle that was served was particularly negative. Oh, criticism, the waiter took my portion back and after a “quick” ten minutes he brought me the same plate, but not much hotter. Since my companion (group) was almost finished, I ate a few forkfuls. Unfortunately, I discovered that the Kaiserschmarrn was also below the tasty eating temperature. But since it was almost 3 p.m., we quickly ate the Kaiserschmarrn together. So as someone who lives in Munich, the Donisl is not noted for a repeat. It's geared towards tourists, which you can tell from the opening times. Therefore, it is better to go to the other districts, where people are also happy to see Munich residents. I cannot recommend Donisl. Then prefer Vietnamese at Rotkreuzplatz or Italian in Allach.

The dining room is actually very nice, but I don't know if the staff is stuck in the 80s. When the evening chef shouts at people across the street that "nothing is available", the table is not prepared and there are still crumbs from the previous person or the order is not taken at the table. Were there yesterday at the start of the WirtshausWiesn and unfortunately we only got cold food. There were 5 different dishes... We then asked the staff about it and they brought the chef to our table. He was grateful that we gave him feedback straight away. The chef was visibly surprised by the cold food and was visibly uncomfortable. He then gave us a generous share of the amount, which in my opinion also suggests that it is not the rule that cold food leaves the kitchen at Donisl. But the taste of the food was really good...

We were at Donisl yesterday and can't understand the bad reviews. The service - the restaurant was fully booked - it was super nice and the food - schnitzel, roast ox, duck and Kaiserschmarren plus the freshly tapped beer 👍 tasted fantastic 😊 We can definitely recommend the restaurant.

You can't even bring schnapps properly. One of the worst and wildest experiences in Munich inns. Main courses arrived over an hour apart, the first beer after 45 minutes and a lot of wrongly delivered and cold food. Basically always empty glasses. Unfortunately, the prices are just the cherry on top. Our company still had fun. Thanks for the team building event.

Classic Bavarian restaurant - very busy - reservation required - food as expected

Food was okay - but nothing more. The Obazda plate was very small and overpriced. The service was poor and everything took forever. All in all mediocre.

The food is way too expensive for the quantity and quality. The burger in a hard bun for 15 EUR came without any side dishes and without any decoration on the plate. Unless you want to count the brown lettuce that stood out and the smeared sauce on the plate as decoration. The service was very unfriendly. There was a piece of paper advertising Gans on our table. The waitress then said they were no longer available and slammed the piece of paper back on the table. When she was told that it would be better to remove notes from non-existent offers, she became mushy.

Food was okay. Service is subpar in my opinion. It took about an hour for the waiter to take the order. Even after that, another eternity passed until something happened. Food was okay, atmosphere is also quite nice. So 3 stars.

We stayed at Donisl and I have to say, this inn is really beautiful! We still had beer and food vouchers left over from Oktoberfest that we wanted to redeem. The service was very friendly and accommodating. 😊 The table reservation went smoothly. My roast ox was tasty, but the portion could have been a little larger for the price. The Kaiserschmarrn was good! 😋 The restaurant is comfortably furnished and has a great atmosphere. Overall I give it 4 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐"
