It's a shame that when the beer garden actually opens at 11:00 a.m., there's no one there to serve you. When asked, it is said that the colleague will not arrive until 12:00 p.m.

Very nice economy in the heart of Munich. Great staff who looked after their guests in a friendly and quick manner and also responded to our kids' wishes without having to talk for long. The food was quick and not only delicious but also very nicely prepared.

Were outside today with 4 children. Great waiter who really has his place under control. Very friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious. We will come back.

Wanted to have a relaxing coffee after a stroll. Found this place and sat down. After 10 minutes we were only noticed. Waiter M. had already greeted us very unfriendly, when we ordered our coffee he was even more unfriendly and made us understand that you are actually only allowed to sit in this restaurant if you also order food. I offered to leave again, but he didn't want that. So we got our overpriced coffee (which, by the way, tastes pretty poor) and had to pay immediately (all other guests only paid after eating/drinking). You won't see us again in this unfriendly restaurant, we were actually interested in something to eat after coffee, but we lost our appetite with this customer service.

Reserved a table here and our group ordered Steaks, Goulash, a Burger and the kids chose "Kasspazn" (Käsespätzle, or the nearest thing you get to Macaroni Cheese in Germany) and a "Kartoffelknödel mit Soße". The burger didn't arrive and the waiter rudely suggested this is because this person was late and ordered after everyone else (this person WAS late, but we didn't order any food until they arrived!). The Kasspatz was brought as simply dry Spätzle, and after telling the waiter he must have mixed something up as we ordered KÄSEspätzle, he said "for this menu price (7,90EU) you don't get the baked cheese version, just the dry stuff". Unbelievable, considering it says KASspatzn on the menu! Then the Knödel also came dry. No sauce. Asked here also and he grumpily said he would fetch some sauce for the kids. Then came one portion of sauce, poured it on the Spätzle, and waited. Had to then ask for the 2nd sauce and got back "I already gave you sauce" (which was barely enough for the Spätzle). It came time to pay and we hade 200+€ worth of unused Wiesn vouchers which we put towards our bill. This didn't quite cover it and we had to pay the 39€ difference in CASH and luckily I had 40€, which included an in my opinion well deserved 1€ tip. He would not accept this however and I had to ask other guests of mine for money to give him a bigger tip. The rest of the food tasted good, and there is a nice ambience in the restaurant, but this waiter ruined our experience here (small solid guy with almost no hair). Perhaps he was rude because he knew we were using Wiesn vouchers? Looking through google reviews with the search word "wiesn", you see the average rating much lower than the rest of the reviews... I suggest NOT to tell them you have vouchers until it comes time to pay!

We had lunch in this restaurant in the center of Monaco the day after August Bank Holiday. Experience not to be repeated. Mediocre cuisine, the pork shank was anonymous, the side potatoes full of vinegar, inedible. But what was unacceptable was the ignorance and rudeness of the staff. An older guy, I think the head waiter, commented, thinking that I didn't hear him, "it's the usual Italians", probably because we didn't understand German. Yet they know Italian, 8 out of 10 customers are Italian, but they do everything to be rude, speaking only in German and not even English, so as not to be understood. In any Italian city a restaurant like this would close after three days. Not suitable for us Italians, as well as mediocre... but perhaps this is the level.

We arrived on Friday evening and were placed on the second floor. There was live music, which isn't a bad thing in itself, but it was so incredibly loud that it was impossible to have a conversation at the table. We spent over 40 minutes trying to order our drinks and food, with the waiter just walking past us once and saying he'd be right out - only to disappear again. It wasn't crowded at all as most of the tables were empty. Eventually we managed to get the attention of a waitress who told us she wasn't responsible for our table but would still take our order. We ordered our beer and our food. However, one of us wanted a different side dish and asked if it was possible to change it. She replied that she had no idea as she was new. We asked her to ask if it was possible. After consulting with her colleague, who continued to hide in the background, she informed us that this restaurant did not allow a side dish change for the main course and if we wanted we could order an additional side dish. We decided to forego it. After a while we wanted to order another beer, but unfortunately the same game of hide and seek with the waiter started again. In the end we decided to leave and enjoy dessert somewhere else as the music was still incredibly loud and disturbing. We didn't leave any tips. In summary, the food was okay, the atmosphere was poor due to the music being way too loud, and the service was so annoying and bad that we will certainly never come back. We decided to pass. After a while we wanted to order some beers again, unfortunately the same circus started again - Playing hide and seek with the waiter. At the end, we decided that we would like to leave and have a desert somewhere else since it was still incredibly an annoyingly loud. We left no tip. In short the food was okay, the atmosphere was so so because of the too loud music, the service was so obnoxious and abysmal, that we would certainly never ever come again. We won't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Friendly reception at the entrance, service very attentive and nice, great ambience, nice Bavarian music. Tasty food can also be ordered in small portions. Always worth a visit when you are in Munich.

I didn't try the food and only had dessert, but I tried it three times at Kaiserschmann Munich and it was the most delicious!! As for beer, Radler is okay, and I personally liked Hefeweizen.

Absolutely overrated tourist hotspot. We stood in front of the counter for 8 minutes, waiting for a table in a shop that was only 20% full on a Thursday (October 24th, 2024). But none of the employees noticed us. They even felt like they were looking at the floor just to avoid being spoken to…. Luckily, Munich has enough other nice shops, one of which is right next to it. The Augustiner Bräu Munich. The friendly staff here immediately We got a table for us and we were well looked after!

I was at my seat for 15 minutes and was ignored. It's a shame that people don't pay attention to individual people. Worst experience in all of Munich. Never again!

Very good food, not exactly cheap but very satisfied

Even though it is certainly a little more expensive than similar restaurants (e.g. the Hofbräuhaus), the food here was significantly better in comparison. The service was very good and there are also special dishes for children and seniors. The music was also a bit more pleasant here, but it certainly depends on the band that is playing.

Saturday lunchtime in Munich for two, we just went for a beer. Order after about 15 minutes, then received again after about 10 minutes. There was a lot going on, but it was far from full. Service seemed understaffed.

We were at Donisl last week and were more than disappointed. There was little going on and yet when we were seated we were told that the table would be reserved for a later date and therefore we couldn't stay seated for too long - the first faux pax, if it was so important that the table was free in time, they would have us can also assign another one. Then we were skillfully ignored by every waitress and every cellar for about 15 minutes. The neighboring table was served, but we ignored it - it was probably the table in the colleague's station - irony off. When someone finally sat down at our table, the order was taken more than listlessly. The drinks and food came quite quickly, but the food was more than disappointing. Very carelessly prepared and the portion size of the venison ragout for around €26 is almost outrageously small. The ox burger came without a side dish. You would have had to order these separately, of course this would have cost extra. And if you think that this has a pretzel bun, you will be disappointed, because it was probably a 2-day-old and very dry bread roll bun. Also, the burger consisted more of cole slaw than meat. Again, not worth the money. We definitely won't be coming back and can only advise everyone not to visit. For a bill of more than €50 you can expect more. But the main thing is that there is a service robot driving around in the guest room - you should invest in better trained staff. Service was not available in our case.

Anyone who has Oktoberfest vouchers and would like to redeem them here pays extra. You cannot exceed the value of the vouchers. The voucher is simply not received, even though the difference is positive for Donisel. According to the cash register this is not possible. So we had to pay extra in cash. Absolutely outrageous customer service!

Great shop with a typical Bavarian atmosphere - you immediately feel at home! The food is fantastic, I can especially recommend the schnitzel. The Donisl is definitely worth a visit. A little tip: Be sure to reserve in advance as it can get very crowded, especially on weekends and Sundays.

An experience not to be missed on a visit to Munich: a true full immersion in the Bavarian spirit. THE MENU is completely traditional and the quality is superior to what one might expect given the "industrial" dimensions of the place; the noise caused by the live music is part of the game and can be forgiven, albeit with some anxiety due to the effort in conversation.

I was there yesterday with a group of guests from 5 nations. I can only highly recommend it. I haven't experienced such service and friendliness in a long time. One more star from me for the great cooperation, I'll be happy to come back as soon as I'm in Munich.

Pieces of plastic in the food, dirt in the beer, waiting forever to be served.. The tip (apparently clearly too low when paying by card) was brought back to the table by the waiter with the statement “I invite you to it”.. all in all: Okay food at the expense of humanity and sociality

Absolutely horrible customer service. I was at the front of the line, they let a group of 4 and a group of 11 *without* reservations ahead of me as if I was invisible. When I asked if they had room for 1 person he said they were full and pointed to the reservation sign.

We were there last night, had a good meal and were served promptly and reasonably. Unfortunately, after our waiter who welcomed us finished work and we paid well over 400 euros, we were no longer served. After 55 minutes we got our beer, then we ordered again but didn't get anything. The tables before and after us were served. It's a shame, it hasn't been as bad as yesterday in the last 8 years.

Had a table reservation with 14 people last night. First of all: Eating and drinking WHEN it came was good. However: service was catastrophic. We were rejected several times with clumsy statements like "we don't have time right now" or "I'll be there soon" (no one came even after repeated requests). Latecomers waited in vain for the drinks they ordered, with repeated reminders to the waitress. After a little over 1.5 hours the food order was taken. At this point the first of us had already left and looked for another location to eat and drink. Conclusion: Unfriendly service. No advertising for another visit, apparently they didn't want to make any money that evening.

I've been there a few times now... my impression is mixed. On the one hand, the Donisl's premises make an impression and there is often live music. On the other hand, the staff is pretty cold. Beautiful traditional Bavarian inn. Was there twice during my stay in Munich. Had pancake soup for the first time: pancake and vegetable strips in beef broth with chives, roast pork from Schlegel and Wammerl with crust in natural sauce, with potato dumplings and coleslaw from Bavarian pigs. A Munich Dark on tap: bottom-fermented beer with character. Tart and delicate with slightly sweet roasted malt notes of caramel, nuts and candied fruits. Perfect with strongly seasoned meat dishes. Original and full-bodied drinking pleasure! Original wort 12.7°P - alcohol 5.0% vol. And finally, a schnapps from the Linster fine fruit distillery in Meurich: tasty farm fruit, stored for 1 year in oak barrels. On the second day I had the pancake soup again, then the Viennese style pork schnitzel, baked in clarified butter, with potato and cucumber salad, horseradish and cranberries from the Bavarian straw pig. For dessert I had the homemade Bavarian apple strudel with vanilla sauce. As for drinks, like the day before, I had a Münchner Dunkel from the tap and a Münchner Hell from the tap: bottom-fermented beer with a subtle, off-dry hop note. Slightly malty, pleasant yeast flower. Original wort 11.5°P, alcohol 5.0% vol. And finally a schnapps from the Linster fine fruit distillery in Meurich: fine Mirabelle plum, fine taste of ripe Mirabelle plums. The restaurant has a good ambience and is beautifully decorated in Bavarian style. The price-performance ratio is great. The restaurant is a little higher priced, but top and justifiable for the location. The service is great and funny. I also thought the operating robot was cool. The toilets are exclusively for guests and you get Donisl coins for using them. The memory card can be taken with you as a souvenir or souvenir.

Donisl, gosh, this was always my ideal perfect Bavarian feel good destination, the kind of place that when you hear someone is travelling to Munich you say, you have got to go, but, BUT, not any more, when today we had a a lunch that I would just like to forget. It is impossible to believe that Donisl has declined into the gutter, actually if you want something Bavarian worth while go over the road to the Metzger Vinzenzmurr. I really cannot imagine what has occurred at Donisl but the food was awful, The Schweineshaxe was dry, tough and not freshly prepared, the sauce you can forget it was just a liquid on the plate. I could live for months dreaming about their Schweineshaxe but now it is just a nightmare,.The Bilagen was some kind of Servietten Knoedel was just 2 slices of dry rubbery thing that probably came out of a box, actually the whole meal had more in common with premade frozen stuff out of a 5kg box from Chef Culinare or FreshDienst. I love Wurst salat, Living in the Schwarzwald it is a serious issue, but mine here was just a cheap sliced sausage in a generic dressing lacking flavour and the Wurst lacking any character. The food is not cheap and I understand that serving food is not a cheap operation but if you charge good then make sure the food is a reasonable quality not garbage. So to sum up, will never go back, will tell anyone that goes to Munich not to bother with Donisl, very sad that such an institution has fallen so far, if you want better food near by go to Mac Donalds, also crap food but without the cost!!!

Very courteous service. When I, as a non-Bavarian, was a bit surprised about the "Wammerl", the management came personally and I was immediately given a piece of the lean roast pork, which is one of the best I have eaten so far. There was also a free cut. That's really good service and great handling of the guests. Top service with a tavern atmosphere.

I could actually really recommend this place because the drinks and desserts here are really tasty and fairly priced for Munich standards. However, since you are chased away here with a group, one of which bought a shake in the same shop while the rest ordered at the table, I will not be coming back and would no longer recommend it. It's better to steer clear when it comes to the social skills of the waitress. Such an unfriendly thing!! Well, the house just loses money, obviously it doesn't matter and there are enough walk-in customers.

Really cozy atmosphere close to the town hall. The man was good. And the service was top notch. Can highly recommend a visit.

Ball tent. According to the site, the tent would close at 11:00 PM, but we were no longer allowed to order at 10:15 PM and were shown the door at 10:30 PM after everything around us was cleared. Waiter was also very antisocial. Wouldn't recommend this ball tent to anyone. I can't say anything about the food. I haven't eaten anything here and I don't plan on doing so.

Definitely quality food. Not a 5 star experience due to the service. Important to know is that the services are paid even though we had dinner in the restaurant. The service was unfortunately not very pleasant, we noticed various people around us sitting down and leaving after 15/20 minutes in which no waiter came to serve them - even though they had tried to call them.

Anyone who likes to drink stale, non-carbonated beer is in good hands here. When I asked if I had a fresh one, they said, no, our beer is always like that... The ox burger for 15 euros was, if at all, only lukewarm and consisted mostly of dry bread rolls. It's a shame because the ambience is actually really nice...but you don't need it at all and you can feel that very clearly as a guest

Very terrible experience. despite their putting on airs, the food is shoddy and not comparable to the price. This is the first place in Munich where I got bad and stale food. The service is very slow. We waited 20 minutes for a table and another 30 minutes for the food. The only good thing was the robot serving beer. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Terrace in the heart of Munich, nice location but high prices to match. Staff varied. 1 very friendly waiter who was very busy and 1 somewhat grumpy waiter who mainly made his colleague run very fast and was otherwise 'busy' trying to have as few customers as possible in his area.

We are in Munich once a year and regularly in Donisl. But today was definitely the last time. The table was neither cleared nor wiped down. After 20 minutes we were able to order. After 30 minutes the beer came. After we asked for another 20 minutes where the water we ordered was, it was brought after another 5 minutes. Instead of two 0.4 with carbon dioxide, the more expensive 0.5 came once without and once with carbon dioxide. After we pointed out that this wasn't the one we ordered, we were told that it cost the same and the still water was taken away without comment. After another 20 minutes, the pretzel we ordered, which was at least from the day before, was shot onto the table. When paying, she was told that she hoped the amount she had counted was correct because she didn't have time to pay more. When we pointed out that we only paid for the 0.4 drink we ordered and complained about, we were loudly insulted and the change was simply thrown down because she didn't need it.

I must say that everything was fast, excellent, and delicious. The waitress was very polite, kind, and helpful. Despite the overreacting lady who was sitting a few tables away from us, who became loud without reason and disrespectful towards the waitress, and even dared to leave a completely false comment, while I became a bit shocked and came here to leave a very positive comment about the restaurant and the staff.

The side menu is full of potatoes on a baking tray, and the algae-flavored beer at the rest stop is also delicious. However, it was late to guide me to my seat and take my order.

We had a relaxed and enjoyable meal on a hot Saturday evening. The manager, Oliver, welcomed us warmly then seated us the comfortable patio away from the crowds out front. Around us were conversations in German, marking Donisl as genuine Munich hospitality. We had a great time people watching as ordinary folks passed by. The food was traditional Bavarian fare, very good and served by a pleasant waiter. It was a great experience. We'll seek Donisl out when we're next in Munich.

Nice atmosphere, friendly waiter. Ordered drinks, Kaiserschmarrn and chocolate cake with a liquid center. Since we had a nut allergy sufferer at the table, I asked the waiter about the ingredients and immediately pointed out that traces were not relevant. He couldn't give any information about this, but asked for us in the kitchen. Finally another gentleman came who also couldn't tell us about the ingredients and just said he would rather not eat it because 9 out of 10 times there are nuts in chocolate. Aside from the fact that this is simply wrong, it seems very strange to me that a restaurant doesn't know the ingredients in its dishes. There were no allergens listed on the menu either. Wouldn't eat here again.

Extremely long waiting time. A deplorable welcome. Slow service, no listening. After a fairly long wait, the dishes (for 2 people) arrived almost cold for one of them. Lamentable presentation, one of the dishes was borderline cold...

Food and athmosphere was really nice. Service was very good and especially Raphael was very kind and helpful. If you’re traveling solo some places can be very rude but this is not that kind of place. You feel cozy and welcomed.

Unfortunately, the stay was negatively affected by a bad-tempered waiter.

We really wanted a cold beer and Kaiserschmarrn after a long day in the city center. The Donisl is located directly on Marienplatz, but it quickly had a table available for us on the terrace. Kaiserschmarrn for two was available for €15 and 0.5l beer for around €6 each. The Kaiserschmarrn was really a 10/10. In Bavaria, Kaiserschmarrn is usually served with sweet almonds, highly recommended!

Food is good, portion size is not compromised. Service was sometimes a bit unfriendly. Easy to reach, right on Marienplatz.

Service is a disaster (not the first time). Eating out...is just mass processing of tourists

To flee!!! 1 star only for the location. Don't say that you are French, very disrespectful and obnoxious waiter with foreign tourists. The waiter even threw the credit card receipt on the table when we told him we didn't have any cash.
