Top, top, top. Service, food, flexibility. If we come to Heidelberg again, then definitely to Don Robert.

Best place in Heidelberg to eat tapas - even better than in Spain ! A lot of Veggy alternatives and fresh salads. The owner is a great guy and the quality matches the prices!

A place that looks very Spanish even though we are in the middle of the Heidelberg suburb in an old German inn.... The staff is also a bit of an Auberge Espagnole.... The owner is from Maghreb with a French name, but now also a Heidelberger Primitive rock that the whole world knows. The staff changes but are always friendly and come from all parts of the world. The food is consistently good, but also relatively pricey.

What can I say? An excellent restaurant where you can eat Spanish specialities. A restaurant where you can spend a romantic evening, with a fantastic paella and all surrounded by excellent wine and fabulous, perfect service

The seafood stew was said to have to wait forty minutes, but it turned out that it was still not ready after almost an hour and a half. If I had told me earlier that it would take so long, I would have bought the ingredients and cooked it myself. Maybe it would be faster than them. I ordered a portion for four people, but the amount of food was about the same as the previous portion for two people. Moreover, the rice was still very watery and tasted more like rice soup than stewed rice. A waste of time and money = =

I didn't like the tapas, and so the price-performance ratio is definitely not right for me. If I'm correct, the mushrooms were canned...which is a no-go for me. For example, there were 6 small prawns in a bowl that was much too big... looked very careless. (not to mention the price) I wouldn't go there to eat again...

Starter really ok. Main course burnt, seasoned very tentatively. Waitress incredibly unfriendly and annoyed. After the bill has been paid, the waitress turns around without a word and walks away, not even responding to the farewell. Also unprofessional handling. The meal took over 60 minutes in an empty restaurant.

Everything perfect. The service staff is very friendly and is also available to give advice. The wines are simply fantastic. You never drink the wrong one 😁. Definitely recommend the tapas. Please keep it up 🙏🍀☀️

Ambiance was great, food was good too. Unfortunately we waited an hour for our tapas, the table was not cleared, the first tapas bar in which I waited more than an hour per course.

The food is very expensive and the quality does not correspond to the price.

The employees are very friendly and helpful. We tried several tapas. The menu is rich in offerings, whether vegetarian, meat or fish tapas. We enjoyed everything, especially the stuffed zucchini and eggplant roll! There is a star deduction because of the chicken tapas in garlic. Personally it was a bit too dry for us. The restaurant was full and the atmosphere was very good. The only drawback we found was that the noise level was a bit too much. That's probably because it's in an old building and has high ceilings etc. But it has the typical Spanish style, with old wooden tables, and the mix of colors... Would definitely recommend this place!! Go there and feel like you are in Andalusia 😄

The service was incredibly friendly! I would like to come again just because of the service. The food was good, there is a large selection of tapas! Unfortunately we couldn't order them all. But we'd love to come back. The sangria is also super delicious. Very fruity!

It doesn't taste that good, I think. And it feels like it takes forever for the food to arrive. Why does it take so long?

Delicious tapas with traditional but also new variations. Here everyone will find what they are looking for and be satisfied. We were here with the team and were served very courteously. Thank you for the nice & particularly delicious stay!

We enjoyed our time at the Don Robert while on business trip. There is a good variety of tapas to choose from and most of the dishes were really great. The paella would be the only dish that might be a bit subpar especially for almost 20 euro per person. There was simply too much rice and not loaded with as much ingredients like the paellas you get in Spain. This place does not take credit cards. They take either local debit cards or cash. So perhaps not as convenient for business travellers coming through town.

Far too expensive - no sophistication - too cold - too drafty - crazy rip-off in this restaurant - we are horrified - 40 euros per person for very average food. - the wine is ok - a shame - a real shame

Horrible service, long wait time, nothing that we ordered was brought to the table, they made us share one small table as a group of 4, even though there were free tables. We got plates for our tapas only half way trough. Don’t go there. Lovely food, lovely locale design, but atrocious service.

Ich liebe Tapas und freue mich jedes Mal auf den Besuch bei Don Robert. Super lecker sind die warmen Chorizo. Selten so leckere gegessen. Im Sommer kann man nett draußen sitzen. Die Parkplatzsituation ist suboptimal. Jedoch ist der ÖPNV gut zu Fuß gelegen. Das ist auch wegen dem tollen Wein eine gute Idee.

Wunderbares, frisches Essen, total nette Bedienung, familiäre Atmosphäre und richtig leckeres Essen!!! Vielseitige Auswahl an spanischen Speisen und Getränken. Kann ich nur sehr empfehlen!!!

Ich kann hier leider nichts besonders Gutes über das Essen berichten. Natürlich sind wir hier nicht in Spanien, aber so wirklich geschmeckt hat uns (meiner Tochter und meiner Frau) nichts. Wir hatten die warme gemischte Vorspeisenplatte, Gambas al Ajilo und die Fleischbällchen noch dazu bestellt. Die Fleischbällchen trocken und nicht eingekocht, ein undefinierbarer Insalata Russa (?), Papas Arugaddas (vermutlich aus der Fritteuse!?) ; ich kenne diese schrumpelig mit Salzkruste; und eine völlig überteuerte Ajoli (vermutlich nicht selbstgemacht!; sehr mayonaisig und nicht wirklich den tiefen Geschmack einer Ajoli!) Nachdem wir für einen, ok, recht guten Rotwein dann 26€ die Flasche gezahlt hatten ( EK ca. 8€), habe ich auf der Rechnung auch noch 2€ für einen weiteren kleinen Brotkorb feststellen müssen!? Schade, Ihr habt nachgelassen!!! Früher war es hervorragend und wir waren auch bereit die hohen Preise zu bezahlen.

Das Essen war im allgemeinen lecker. Was zu bemängeln ist, war der Service. Zum Teil unfreundlich, sehr langsam und einige Bestellungen wurden trotz mehrfachem Hinweis nicht serviert. Ein ausschlaggebender Grund andere spanische Restaurants auszuprobieren!

Very cozy, very nice ambiance. Great place to drink and eat with friends. Tapas are decent, some of them are a bit more on the expensive side. It’s quite packed in the evening.

Alle Tapas, die wir probiert haben, waren sehr lecker. Schade nur für die teilweise wirklich mickrige Portionen bzw verhältnismäßig zu hohen Preisen. Personal ganz nett aber unerfahren.

Tapas Varidas Zusammenstellung enttäuschend: Viel Frittiertes mit eher gewinnmaximierenden Zutaten. Schärfe bei Mojo Rojo nur zu erahnen. Baguette war Typ Backstraße. Atmosphäre, Service und Wein war gut. Zahlung nur Bar oder mit Girocard.

Parken kann man in der Umgegend. Eine Reservierung wird grundsätzlich empfohlen, ist aber an diesem Mittwochabend nicht notwendig, denn das stilvoll eingerichtete Lokal ist nur zu einem Viertel belegt, und das bleibt auch den ganzen Abend über so. Dennoch platziert uns der (auch sonst sehr zurückhaltend auftretende) Service an einem eher ungemütlichen Zweiertisch. Tapas liegen zwischen fünf und 14 Euro, Tagesgerichte zwischen 14 und 21 Euro. Ein spanisches Restaurant messe ich an seiner Aioli, und die ist sehr gut. Auch die Qualität der weiteren Tapas ist im oberen Mittelfeld. Meine Heidelberger Freundin schwärmt von schönen Abenden, die man im Sommer an den Tischen vor dem Lokal verbringen kann.

I reserved a table for two persons - at that time nobody said me that on the date the conditions(not mandatory, can be decided by the owner) .Me and my colored girlfriend went there with actual test results and we had to leave.I feel very embarrassed. I was a client for over 4 years and welll known by the owner by name and face I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN

Spontaner Besuch auf der Heimreise. Gastraum typisch rustikal eingerichtet, inkl. großer Außenterrasse. Service bemüht, aber nicht so wirklich professionell. Ich wählte einige Tapas: Iberico-Schinken, Aioli, Datteln im Speckmantel sowie Hähnchen mit Knoblauch. Alles in allem waren die Tapas sehr lecker, ansprechend angerichtet und preislich absolut okay. Letztlich im Rahmen der Erwartungen, alles zufriedenstellend.

Das Don Robert liegt in der Weststadt nicht weit vom Hauptbahnhof in Heidelberg. Das Ambiente ist angehen und passend. Die Tapas und Salate waren lecker. Allerdings ist der Service etwas kompliziert, auf die Getränkeaufnahme haben wir doch eine Weile gewartet und beim Bezahlen hat der Keller doch einige extra Meilen gemacht.

Trotz Reservierung einen so kleinen Tisch bekommen, dass wir das Essen auf der Heizung/Boden legen mussten. 1 Stunde mussten wir auf das Essen warten. Zwischendurch mussten wir um Brot betteln, obwohl alle um uns Oliven und Brot bekommen haben. Die Tapas waren langweilig aber teuer. Der Wein war mäßig. So unwillkommen haben wir uns nie gefühlt. Enttäuschend!

Das Buffet war sehr abwechslungsreich, das Restaurant selbst ist eher etwas enger, dunkel und gemütlich, der Service war sehr gut.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal im Don Robert und sind begeistert. Der Service war sehr freundlich, die Tapas (kalte und warme) sehr lecker und reichlich. Uns haben besonders das Hähnchen in süßer Honig-Portweinsauce mit gerösteten Mandelblättern, die marinierte Schweinelende am Spieß gegrillt und die Boquerones fritos geschmeckt. Dazu gab es einen frischen spanischen Weißwein - herrlich. Wir werden sicher wiederkommen.

Von der Bestellung bis zum Servieren der Speisen hat es sehr sehr lange gedauert. Freundlicher Service aber die Gerichte könnten schon an Qualität zunehmen. Preis Leistung eher durchschnittlich.

Zu viert besuchten wir das Lokal vergangene Woche. Wiederum hatten wir zwei Schlemmerblöcke dabei. Am Tisch wurde uns zunächst mitgeteilt, dass eigentlich nur noch ein Schlemmerblock pro Tisch abgerechnet wird. Wobei auf dem Block das Verhältnis 2/1 angeben wird. Unverständlich, jedoch nach kurzer Diskussion wollte die Bedienung dies abklären. Davon ließen wir uns nicht die Laune vermiesen und suchten verschiedene Gerichte aus der doch sehr reichhaltigen Speisekarte heraus. Wir bestellen kalt/warme gemischte Teller, verschiedene Tapas sowie Paella mit Fisch und Fleisch. Die dann gereichten Speisen waren alle absolut in Ordnung, geschmackvoll und mehr als ausreichend. Da gibt es überhaupt nichts zu meckern. Was jedoch überhaupt nicht gestimmt hat war der Service. Wir mussten auf die bestellten Getränke teilweise über 20 Minuten warten. Wenn ich ein Lokal bis zum letzten Quadratzentimeter mit Bestuhlung ausnutze, was aus kommerzieller Sicht auch absolut in Ordnung ist, dann brauche ich halt auch das entsprechende Personal. Hier sollte dringend nachgebessert werden. Da wir mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln unterwegs war, haben wir auch schon sehr früh um die Rechnung gebeten. Der Preis war absolut in Ordnung. Jedoch mussten wir dann zum Bezahlen mit der Rechnung an die Theke gehen (am Tisch saßen wir bestimmt 15 Minuten), an der sich unsere Bedienung sehr entspannt mit aus meinem Eindruck Bekannten entspannt unterhielt. Soll sie ja auch, wenn die Zeit es zulässt. Hier hat es jedoch aus meiner Sicht nicht gepasst. Zusammenfassend möchte ich sagen: Tolle Location, zwar ein bissel laut aber okay, qualitativ sehr gutes Essen - beim Service jedoch sollte nachgebessert werden. Daher 2 Punkte Abzug. Ganz zum Schluß möchte ich noch erwähnen, dass wir aus der Rechnung entnehmen konnten, dass der Schlemmerblock doch ordnungsgemäß abgerechnet wurde.

Sehr schönes Ambiente, sehr nette Bedienung. In- Kneipe mit Stammgästen. Essen sehr schmackhaft und ansprechend, daher auch etwas gehobene Preisqualität.

War heute Abend in Don Robert, es freute mich sehr, dass wir draussen sitzen konnten. Habe mich für die Klassiker wie Manchego, Chorizzo, Gambas entschieden- alles Top! Der Kellner ist nett und freundlich, ich komme bald wieder!

We were looking for a spanish restaurant and, honestly, this was not our first choice but based on the reviews this was on average here in Heidelberg. It was a bit disappointing from the beginning, when we just called to reserve a table and we got a rude "hallo" as an answer to our "Hola!". Ok, we can understand that maybe not all the workers are spanish or even speak spanish. We booked. Once we arrived here, it was shocking to not find any hint that we were in a spanish restaurant. We were politely welcomed but we realised that nobody was spanish. The menu is a mess between spanish and german. Once we ordered, we had to wait more than 45 min for 3 tapas to be served, seeing that other table who came later than us were first served. The "gambas al ajillo" were, let's say "light". The red and rosé wines choice is limited: there are only 4 different varieties, which one is a french one and other one is a house wine. We order another 3 tapas, which took longer than 30min to be served, again. The "Champiñones al Jerez" were tasty and maybe the best choice we made. To culminate the dinner we ordered a "Requesón con miel" which was surprisingly (and literary) frozen. It was delicious even if this has nothing to do with what we call "Requesón con miel" in Spain, it was more like an iced whip cream with honey and almonds. The waitress was very thoughtful, actually more than our waiter in charge. In the last time, we visited several spanish restaurants in The Black Forest region, and sadly this is our worst experience up to date so far.

I compared this to the Spanish restaurant in Baden Baden. The tapas was better in Baden Baden, more delicately cooked and with tastier dips. It also had Estella Damm!! However, the paella was tastier here with more flavour and taste. Two people must order paella but the portion can feed three easily, especially if tapas are eaten as starters. Serves San Miguel on licence in Germany. The restaurant is in a quiet street between the train station and Bismarck Square. Closed on Sunday's. Well worth a visit.

Don Robert is by far one of the best places for Tapas and hanging out. Its a chilled out relaxed place and I strongly suggest that you plan out your visit, reserve the table and of course the excitement is best with some of the best friends who can cosy down and have endless chats over wine, small portions of tapas which are freshly prepared. They take personal care in understanding their guest's requirements and ensure that you have a lovely time.

Further visit to this nice place in Heidelberg, together with several other friends. Ordered different tapas portions to share with my girlfriend. The food was fairly good, especially compared to many other tapas restaurants in the area. To be honest, albondigas were rather anonymous, calamares a little too fresh from freezer. But again, I had worse tapas in many supposedly better renowed places. The service was courteous but not so timely delivered, it can definitely be improved. The atmosphere was nice and warm, not quite like being somewhere in Spain, but neither so bad. Would definitely come back and/or recommend for a few tapas and a glass of tempranillo.

I've been many times and am usually impressed with the taste of the dishes from the menu and from the specials board. The wine is also good. The service is nearly always good, there is one waiter who is not that friendly, but a bit slow. Even drinks and cold tapas can take a really long time. I'm tempted to give four stars, but I think that overall the prices are a little higher than I'd expect.

There aren't many tapas bars in Hiedelberg and I can see why this may be attractive for some. The atmosphere of Don is welcoming and pleasant and the wine are very good. This is both a place to drop into and hang around - it has a local welcoming feel. All of this is good so far but what was a major disappointment was the tapas. The menu is quite extensive and has the usual range of traditional spanish tapas and we ordered patatas braves - so why did we end with sautéed potatoes with mayonnaise jamon iberica - this was more like local german ham and there wash no sign this pg had been close to an acorn tortilla español - this was OK garlic chicken - very oily and over cooked queso manchega - again this was acceptable So are we being picky? I don't think so as this seemed to be a germanised version of spanish tapas. Given the price and the quality this wasn't a good experience

This is a Spanish style restuarant BUT beware when you pay the bill as they assume that you want to leave a very large tip as they don't give you change/ and then it looks mean and feels embarrassing to ask for the change. Service slow- which made this even more annoying.

We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant on the outskirts of Heidelberg and we liked it so much we returned the next night! We were staying in the nearby Marriott and didn't want to eat in the hotel. This restaurant was about a 7-8 min walk. The manager and staff were very welcoming, the tapas were fantastic, the Spanish wine selection was wonderful. Highly recommend! They were also very good with our son (age 3) who is a bit picky but loved their food! Try it!!

One phrase for the place - old world charm! Waiters were friendly and food was interesting. Vegetarians have some limited options but the place is alright for a nice evening out with friends.
