Delicious food. The service is excellent and they even offered to pack up the food for takeaway. The interior design and the proximity to the old bridge create a cozy atmosphere.

We went to this small Spanish restaurant in the evening and enjoyed a variety of excellent tapas. The food was excellent and authentic (confirmed by the Spanish woman in our group 😊). The service was very friendly and incredibly funny, but that was obviously also due to the fact that the Spanish people got along so well with each other. The atmosphere is cozy, and the location by the Old Bridge with a view of the Neckar River is very beautiful. There's a wine shop in the basement where wine evenings are regularly held. We really enjoyed it and would happily recommend it!

I have to be honest - we were looking forward to it - but it was really bad.. the ambiance is great.. you can really make something out of this restaurant.. but the service is really not good - and the food is not either.. we had the paella with chicken - but with pressed meat... sorry - there is room for improvement.. and please - this Ola chicas when the waiter comes to the table - please don't

I know tapas portions are small, but these were even smaller than what you typically get in Spain - especially for the price. Food was average; the meatballs arrived cold and dry inside. The cook was smoking at the front door and the cigarette smoke reached the dining area. Staff were also talking loudly about their personal lives, which hurt the atmosphere. Disappointing overall.

The value for money isn't good. Not recommended, despite the nice location. We won't be visiting this restaurant again.

Completely overpriced dishes with small portions. It's a shame, really; it could be really good, but the quality is sometimes really poor. The patatas pravas were cooked at different temperatures; of the 15 cubes of potatoes, half were cold, the others so hot you'd burn yourself. The meat was tough and, with a lot of goodwill, could be described as medium-rare. The octopus, in contrast, was very tasty, but the portion was very small and, at just under €16, quite overpriced. We certainly won't be going there again.

I can't recommend this place. The paella was burnt, and the beef was sub-par (tough and medium rare at best, not medium). The only bright spot in the darkness was that I didn't have to pay for the dish. A Spaniard who delivers paella like that should give up their nationality.

We're sitting here in the Sunday sun and are very disappointed because we remember the "little Spaniard" as being much, much, much better... But first, how it all began: we stopped here on a Sunday afternoon. We sat down at a table outside on the steps. A truly unkempt-looking lady came to serve us. She announced that she didn't understand German very well and was still learning. Not a problem in itself. We ordered various tapas: Pedron Peppers Patate Bravas Octopus Stuffed Mushrooms Dates wrapped in bacon And bread with aioli She had to think for a moment about the Pedro Peppers and said, in fragments of English, that she didn't know if they were still available. After a short while, a sliced ​​half of a ciabatta bread arrived, without anything on it, and then the potatoes. Shortly after, 5(!!!!) small dates wrapped in bacon plus another half a ciabatta bread with aioli... the remaining tapas, except for the Pedron peppers and the mushrooms! They didn't arrive at first. We'd already finished eating. ... then we said, as it had gotten a bit busier, that something was missing. Then we noticed that there were no Pedron peppers... the mushrooms, three!!!! for two people, also arrived at the table. No big apology or anything... I know you pay a lot of rent in this place in HD. But if a tapas business is no longer profitable, you should leave it! Because this was abysmally bad! The only thing that saved it is the location and the beautiful shop itself. But this has nothing to do with the origins of the "little Spaniard"! We won't be coming back until there's either a change of ownership and staff, or another establishment sets up shop here. What a shame!!! I took a photo of the bill… overpriced!!

The location is cool. Portions are small, in keeping with the location. The paella is decoratively small. But the staff is genuine and the quality is good.

As expected, a classic tourist restaurant. Unfortunately, the food wasn't particularly good. If you're used to good Spanish food, you probably shouldn't come here. The food is bland and not particularly well or authentically prepared. After all the plates were brought to our table, we weren't "served" again until we asked for the bill.

We just went out to eat and were unfortunately very disappointed. The paella was a disaster, and we had five different types of appetizers, which were also a complete disaster. I wouldn't recommend it! The owner was also unprofessional and berated the staff in front of us. The little Spaniard has nothing to do with typical Spanish food.

I used to eat here often, but today I had guests over for my birthday. The evening was a complete disaster. The starter was good, but the paella was very bad (lots of juice and unseasoned), so a waste of money and expensive too. The chef/manager was angry the whole evening and unfriendly to the staff, so the atmosphere was terrible. I've been here many times and have always had a great meal with friends and the atmosphere was lovely. But this time everything was very bad, what a pity ;( My birthday was ruined..

We stopped here by chance and really liked the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service was very poor, there were major communication problems, and it took a long time to be served. Two of our tapas orders were taken incorrectly due to the language barrier and brought to the wrong table (we ate them anyway), and two more orders were subsequently canceled as "ready to go." Finally, paying by card only worked after several attempts. Due to the poor service, I wouldn't go here again.

First, the "positive" things. The staff was very attentive. However, they understood little to no German. This wasn't a big problem for us, as we were able to communicate well in English. However, if you don't understand English, you might run into problems without a translator. In my opinion, the staff made an effort (they were friendly), but they brought us the wrong drinks, and some of the food we ordered was forgotten. It was all quite chaotic. As for the food, it tasted "okay," but in no way justified the price. Both in terms of taste and quantity. Furthermore, some of the food was completely cold, and the beef was so tough that it was almost impossible to cut. The garlic prawns, however, were very tasty!

The restaurant's first impression is its beautiful location directly on the old bridge. The ambiance is inviting and creates a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the culinary part of our visit didn't live up to our expectations. Even ordering was difficult, as language barriers made it almost impossible to communicate in German or English. While the food arrived quickly, the quality was unfortunately not convincing. The meat was a bit dry, and overall, the dishes seemed rather bland and unflavorful. When we politely addressed this, we unfortunately received a rather unfriendly response. They pointed out that Spain generally uses fewer spices and that food there is saltier anyway due to the sea air. However, since we are not in Spain and the ingredients come from Germany, this explanation was not entirely understandable to us. We were particularly disappointed that constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement were not accepted. Especially since we offered our feedback in a friendly and well-intentioned manner, we would have appreciated more openness. Overall, our impression remains mixed: a wonderful location and friendly ambience, but unfortunately, there is still significant room for improvement in both the food and the way guests are treated.

Expensive, warm beer! We were thinking of having some tapas with our drinks, but seeing the dishes on the tables next to us... As a Spaniard, I'm ashamed of the type of food served at this place; it couldn't be worse. I feel like you're ripping off your customers with "food" that has nothing to do with Spanish cuisine. Not at all recommended.

We are extremely unhappy and extremely disappointed about the price of this restaurant. We will never come to this restaurant again. The price of the "seafood rice" is almost 100€, which is incredibly high. However, there is no any taste of the rice, which tastes like a pure water. In Heidelberg, it is really very hard to find a restaurant with such a high price for only one dish. The squid of this restaurant is also very uneconomical. The large plate only has two very small squid, which is completely different from the photo. The four of us spent a total of 160 €, with an average of 40 € per person. Finally, the manager asked us if we were happy with this meal. I just want to say that whether it's the price or the taste, especially the taste, it's completely incomparable to other restaurant. I think that the manager of this restaurant must be aware that all consumers are not stupid, none of us are idiot. Is this meal worth 160€? Would we like to come back or never come again? We are very clear about the answer. No consumer is a stupid! The worst and most deceitful restaurant in Heidelberg. I strongly recommend other consumers not to go to this restaurant!

Not recommended! Poor service! Long wait times! Tapas didn't arrive at the table at the same time, and bread was only brought after repeated requests.

Unfortunately, service was very slow, and communication was difficult (basically only possible in Spanish). Drinks arrived at different times, so not everyone had their meal at the same time. The food portions were very small for the high prices, but the taste was okay. Two ordered dishes were forgotten and not served until 30–40 minutes after the rest of the meal. There was no apology for the inconvenience. Overall, disappointing for the value for money.

I never write reviews, but I've never experienced anything like this before. We placed part of our order with a waiter who entered everything on a cell phone. When we placed the order, we had to repeat it three times for technical reasons. It happened. Very unpleasant for everyone. Subsequent orders were given to a different waiter, who wrote everything down by hand on a piece of paper. If you can imagine how much potential for error there is, just wait for it: The food was generally delicious, but small portions for a lot of money. Food and drinks were missing from our orders, and after repeatedly pointing this out to various waiters, they were served 20 minutes later. One drink only arrived after we asked for the bill, which also took 20 minutes. Our bill reached us via a roundabout route. It was first left at the wrong table; people complained there, then 10 minutes later it found its way to us. Now things are getting really crazy. There were several drinks on the list that we never ordered, as well as food. Simply 50 euros more than we ordered... After another 10 minutes of clarifying the matter, the waiters, clearly completely overwhelmed, came over and asked if everything was okay, even though two members of the group were inside going through the bill. Unfortunately, the portion sizes weren't being observed, and they were also overcharged for one meal. But we were so obviously annoyed that we accepted the extra 10 euros and simply left after paying. Never again from this place, and we're not in the mood for Spanish cuisine for a while now. In many ways, the worst restaurant we've eaten at in a long time. * Waiters were uncoordinated and unfriendly * Language barriers in both German and English * Orders took a long time and were forgotten despite repeated reminders * Some drinks arrived warm * The Iberico ham was almost certainly not Iberico * Hair in the paella, which also needed a few minutes longer (the rice cracked when bitten into) - but was fixed upon request * Bread was served. When we asked if we could have olive oil, aioli, or something similar, there was no real response. We were told it would cost extra. We ordered it anyway, but never received it. Despite asking, * The waiter didn't know the wines and told us he'd need a few minutes. He eventually came and took a random bottle and opened it (after the food arrived). The wine was okay. We accepted this because we didn't want to wait forever for the wine again. * We had to decline incorrect food and drink orders intended for other tables several times. I could go on. We're generally very relaxed about small things, but we've been to hundreds of restaurants of all price ranges worldwide and have NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING like this! This is catastrophic! The only positive factor is the location. All in all, I can only advise everyone not to go here. Save your money! The value for money is not good. We had guests, and it was quite unpleasant. We thought we'd try a new restaurant; the reviews mainly criticize the service and are probably exaggerated... They aren't! But the food is almost as bad.

It's a shame, really, because it has potential, but it's only recommended for quick bites. The tapas are mediocre, and the comfort and serenity are lacking. A young man deserves praise for trying to save the place. Sorry, we won't be coming back.

The food was generally tasty, but you have to be aware that not everything is brought to the table at once, but gradually. The service is okay, but you notice how chaotic it is. They couldn't find our reservation, the waitress constantly didn't know which table the food should be brought to, and the drinks also arrived gradually and not together. We had to ask for the bill several times.

I was there with my family for the first time yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was excellent, the service was great, very friendly, very welcoming, and the location is awesome.

It's in a prime location. Both the waiters and the chef were very attentive and friendly. Everything we ate was delicious. Highly recommended.

The tapas we ordered were delicious, the calamari was the best I've eaten in a long time, the Cadiz native was super nice, José too, a sure hit.

We were thrilled by the incredibly friendly and humorous staff (super child-friendly). Everything was simply authentic, and the food was beyond delicious. For us, it was the best paella we've ever had. We'll definitely be back.

„Der Kleine Spanier“ – Enges Restaurant, große Enttäuschung Wir reservierten Tage im Voraus. „Der Kleine Spanier“ bewahrheitete sich in jeder Hinsicht. Das Lokal ist ein schmaler, schlauchartiger Raum, in dem es sehr eng zugeht. Von entspanntem Ambiente keine Spur: Die Tische stehen dicht an dicht, und das laute Klappern aus der offenen Küche erinnert mehr an einen Schnellimbiss als an ein gemütliches Restaurant. Dazu kommt das permanente Hin und Her der gestressten Bedienungen, die im schmalen Durchgang zwischen Küche und Tischen regelrecht durch die Gäste hetzen. Mein Stuhl wurde mehrfach angerempelt – ohne ein Wort der Entschuldigung. Auch beim Service gab es bereits früh Schwierigkeiten: Statt der bestellten Flasche Wein wurde kommentarlos nur ein Glas serviert. Wer was bestellt hatte, schien der Bedienung ein Rätsel zu sein – eine Speise fehlte ganz, und insgesamt machte das Personal einen überforderten Eindruck. Die Küche selbst konnte die enttäuschende Atmosphäre nicht retten: Die Aioli war grünlich verfärbt und erinnerte eher an Frankfurter Grüne Soße – geschmacklich ebenso unausgewogen wie optisch fragwürdig. Die sogenannten „Kanarischen Kartoffeln“ entpuppten sich als gewöhnliche, kleingeschnittene Pellkartoffeln. Fast alle Gerichte mussten kräftig nachgesalzen werden – Salz war offenbar das Einzige, woran es nicht mangelte. Ein weiterer Tiefpunkt: die Gambas – mit so vielen Peperoni im Schälchen, dass das Gericht eher zur Mutprobe als zum Genuss wurde. Als der Abend schließlich zu Ende ging, mussten wir mehrfach um die Rechnung bitten. Diese kam – nach rund 30 Minuten – nur gesammelt, obwohl individuell bestellt wurde. Beim Hinausgehen wurden wir zwar freundlich verabschiedet, mussten das Personal aber noch darauf hinweisen, dass wir noch gar nicht bezahlt hatten. Fazit: Der „Kleine Spanier“ lebt offenbar vom stetigen Touristenstrom, nicht von Qualität oder echter Gastfreundschaft. Für uns war es ein lauter, enger und chaotischer Abend – eine zweite Chance wird es nicht geben.

I booked a table, we arrived on time. We ordered paella. Tapas were served literally immediately. We waited over half an hour for the paella, we had to ask for the food and when they finally brought it, it was completely burnt!! Such a dish should not have even left the kitchen, let alone been served to a customer. The waiter really had the nerve to serve it to us. We complained about the dish and after another forty minutes we received a new one, this time not burnt. The waiter offered my partner a beer as an apology, not paying any attention to me or my child. It was a bit inappropriate, I had to ask for my drink. Generally, we ate a warm meal after over 1.5 hours. Overall, it was a shame. A very awkward situation that even free drinks did not save (unfortunately, they were not offered to us earlier when we were waiting for the dish). The service and quality leave much to be desired. I have never received a burnt dish in any restaurant.

We were very disappointed! It was a Sunday afternoon when we were lucky enough to get a table, but all the other guests were already eating or finished. We ordered drinks, which arrived quickly, and then ordered our food, but nothing happened. New guests arrived, received their food, and were repeatedly spoken to in the local language. We were ignored! When I managed to make myself known, all I was told was: I'll sort it out with the kitchen. When the "new" guests received their dessert and we still had nothing to eat, my patience ran out! That's no way to treat your guests; sorry, that's the end of it for us!

A very nice terrace, tables for two with a view of the old bridge. Cheerful, fast Spanish waiters - that's all we liked about this place. We were unlucky with the food - we ordered Patatas Bravas and didn't order anything else. The potatoes were raw or frozen inside, it's unclear. The outside was fried more than once - disgusting, to be honest. And the sauce is not at all what it should be - very spicy. We also ordered Aperol and Sangria - everything was very weak, but at our request they added alcohol and it was just right. Thanks to the waiters:)

Everything is just right there: friendly owners and service. The food is delicious and varied. However, it's a bit more expensive, but that's actually justified.

This restaurant was our favorite Spanish restaurant for years, but unfortunately, the quality and taste have deteriorated so much that we can no longer recommend it and will not visit it again. This development actually makes us a little sad. (Example: the shrimp used to taste great... last time we visited, they lacked any seasoning, and the oil they were served in also had no flavor at all—it seemed cheap and watery compared to before. The table next to us confirmed this. Our comment on this was dismissed, albeit politely, but smiled away. The other dishes were equally flavorless.

Wow. I spontaneously decided on the little Spanish restaurant and got a table. It was delicious with great and very friendly service.

Unfortunately not what we had hoped for. Food was below average. All 3 of us had stomach pains after eating. Service was completely chaotic. The table numbers were swapped, so we had to constantly ask whether the food was for us or the table next door. The same problem with the bill. Quite smoky in the restaurant - probably from the charcoal grill. I was so looking forward to a Crema Catalana... unfortunately it was scary. Cold cream and the crust tasted burnt. EDIT We weren't invited for drinks, only the very dry bread wasn't charged. We didn't have the impression that the gentleman was new - more like the owner.. Update They came to our table because we paid separately and it was impossible to identify which table had what. Three small waters were ordered. There were only 2 so we took 1 large bottle of water and paid. The three that we didn't have were still open - which is normal if you didn't have them. We'll let it go now. We won't see each other again. I just want to clarify that we paid for everything except the portion of bread. I didn't want any gifts either, but I see the review as a way to objectively communicate my displeasure

Cosy place with a great location and view. We were sitting outside, enjoying the sun. The street was a bit crowded but not too noisy. Directly in the entrance of the historical bridge. A had 5 pieces of Tapas and all were quite nice and delicious.

After 1 hour of waiting, still no drinks brought. And then twice the wrong ones.

We were here on a Saturday and sat outside. There were around 4-5 waitresses on site who unfortunately were unable to take an order. After 10 attempts to order a carafe of sangria, it was served again after a wait of about 15 minutes. Since it didn't taste as good to everyone at the table, it took another good 20 minutes until you could pay for it. Unfortunately, there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of service. 👆🏻

We were in town today and decided at short notice to end the evening at “The Little Spanier”. Reserved a table and went there. First impression of the staff, unusually very friendly and committed! 👍 The small, outdated guest room is well attended, but luckily we made a reservation 😏 The food was ordered quickly and the paella took a long time to prepare. The side salad was freshly prepared and set expectations high for the paella. Lo and behold, they were even trumped. The selection of ingredients and spices is high quality and delicately seasoned! Delicious!!! Kudos to the team. Keep it up! The perfect end to the meal was “Tarta de Queso” the Spanish cheesecake 😋😋 We'll be happy to come back for dinner when we're in Heidelberg again!

Unfortunately not recommended. Location is very good though. First, we and other people waited for about 10 minutes in front of the locked entrance, even though according to the opening times it should already be open. As a starter we wanted Jamon Serano (they didn't have it), it's hard to believe, we would have gotten it at Lidl or Aldi. Then we ordered sangria and paella for 2 people and waited about 2 hours for it. Without the very unfriendly service even asking once if you would like something to drink again. He was more busy with his cell phone and pretty ladies he knew. Impossible. When the paella finally arrived, we devoured the mini portion in just a few minutes. At least it was tasty and juicy. But for 2 people??? More like a senior plate. After the waiter didn't respond even after several, later even energetic requests for the bill and ignored our table, at some point (the boss?) came out of the kitchen and brought the hefty bill. Conclusion: small Spanish restaurant, no jamon, small portions, no service, high prices. First of all, I don't feel like eating out in Spanish anymore. Never here again anyway. 👎👎👎

Caution. The tapas are mini and cost an enormous amount. I've never eaten so expensive and so little. Never eat there again. 50 euros for nothing.

It was a successful evening with very tasty food, attentive, friendly service and all in the most beautiful city far and wide!!!

Be carful with their booking system, which charges 200€ for deposit. We had made a reservation for lunch, and it has been cancelled as the restaurant did not offer lunch. However, one year later, I’m still waiting for the 200€ deposit to be returned to my bank account. 2 emails, 0 response. Updates in April 2025: pls check your email box info@der-kleine-spanier.de, I’ve sent you two requests on Nov 14 2023 and Jul 8 2024, with all the details. I’ve double checked my credit card and PayPal. No refund been returned. Thanks

Although the atmosphere and food was very nice, we were really not happy with the service at the end. They made us wait to seat almost 15min with a reservation. Then, all the food came very late and waitresses were rude even saying we should stop asking for things!

Unser heutiger Besuch beim Kleinen Spanier war der krönende Abschluss eines wunderschönen Tages in Heidelberg. Wir lieben Tapas und fanden sie draußen auf der sonnigen Terrasse besonders lecker, frisch zu bereitet und die Portionen waren eher üppig. Unsere Bedienung war sehr nett und umsichtig. Das Highlight waren auf jeden Fall die super leckeren Auberginen mit Honig!!

I personally don't like the bottom at all. Negroni and appetizers were solid. Price performance good, for a prime location on the old bridge. I'll definitely come back again.

😱Yesterday we were with the little Spaniard. Unfortunately, the mood of the staff wasn't necessarily friendly. I would describe it as harsh. I noticed that at the bar people were putting ice and their fingers into the drinks and I later saw the same person collecting money and clearing away dirty dishes and then touching ice again without washing their hands in between!! That should have warned us. But you're always smarter later... Our food finally came after 1 hour (2 small tapas!). Dry bread was carelessly placed before us while we waited. The quality of the food was mediocre, the calamari was very rubbery and didn't really taste fresh. Fingerling potatoes slightly overcooked and some with black spots. Mojo sauce didn’t have much “mojo.” But we were so hungry by now that we ate everything anyway. A big mistake... because my daughter and I spent the whole night on the toilet with food poisoning 🤮. Terrible!!! None of this is made up, even if it sounds unbelievable. We will never set foot in this restaurant again. I just hope that the poor tourists who ate there weren't as miserable as we were. Update: Dear little Spaniard, Your justifications are just ridiculous as I have clearly seen cash and ice being handled WITHOUT washing hands first, dirty glasses being touched on the rim. The ice cream was scooped into the glasses with fingers. There are clean spoons for that. The food was also of poor quality - you didn't eat it, so just accept it from a GUEST. And we even waited over an hour, even 35 minutes - which it wasn't - is a lot for 2 mini tapas (and the restaurant wasn't full!). We both got sick, most likely because of your poor hygiene. Instead of simply apologizing with the intention of improving things, this is a baseless justification. I would have been happy to hear more understanding words and would have assessed your wishes as positive and then reflected this again in my review. Now add to the poor dining experience the lack of empathy and enormous unprofessionalism in your reaction. Very unfortunate.

Das Restaurant erscheint mir doch hier unterbewertet. Grosse Tapas-Auswahl, sehr lecker und mit auch ein paar Gerichten, die man in anderen spanischen Restaurants nicht findet. Weinauswahl sehr gut, gegen den Durst gibt es aber auch Estrella Galicia vom Fass. Freundliche Bedienung nett und flott, schöne Location in altem Haus direkt an der alten Brücke, malerischer Gewölbekeller. Reservierung zu empfehlen.

The driest tortilla de patatas I've ever eaten in my life - it seems like it's cut into pieces, frozen and then just warmed up when ordered. The ham croquettes taste worse than those from any supermarket in Spain. The package with jamón may have been somewhere nearby when it was prepared, and that's probably where the name on the menu comes from - otherwise there was no jamón in the croquettes today. For these prices I expected much more.

Typisch Tapas wird man hier schnell eine Menge Geld für kleine Portionen los. Es war zwar recht lecker aber für 50-60 € pro Person wäre man doch gerne satt geworden, schade.

Durch die vielen schlechten Bewertungen, die wir im Vorfeld gelesen hatten, waren wir durchaus skeptisch. Umso zufriedener waren wir mit unserem Aufenthalt. Sowohl das Essen war fantastisch als auch der Service. Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend!

So was furchtbares habe ich schon lange nicht mehr erlebt! Null empfehlenswert. Bedienung konnte kein Deutsch! Essen ohne Salz und es hat nix geschmeckt. 2 mal Garnelen in Knoblauch bestellt, einmal okay(verbrannter Knoblauch) das 2. Gericht gekocht in Wasser! Eklig. Tintenfischringe ohne Geschmack, Alles war nur furchtbar. Der Tisch für 4 Personen viel zu klein, obwohl 2 Monate vorher bestellt. Muss man nicht hingehen. Abzocke

“The Little Spaniard” in Heidelberg visit on December 14th, 2024 The three of us visited the restaurant “Der kleine Spanier” in Heidelberg and were unfortunately very disappointed. We were looking forward to an authentic Spanish meal, but our experience was anything but. We ordered paella and the dish did not meet expectations in terms of taste or quality. The paella had little to do with a traditional Spanish paella. Instead of the typical taste and consistency, it appeared to be frozen food - the pan was full of liquid, which ruined the impression of a freshly made paella. In terms of taste, the dish was a disaster and definitely not worth the price of 22 euros. The sangria was another letdown: it didn't taste like a fruity, refreshing summer drink, but more like mulled wine - heavy, spicy and incongruous. We returned the sangria because it was simply inedible. In addition, we sat in a cellar vault that was icy cold. A cozy atmosphere for a relaxed dinner was therefore not possible from the start. To make matters worse, all three of us had gastrointestinal problems about two hours after eating, which suggests a lack of freshness or hygiene. We had enjoyed visiting The Little Spaniard in the past, but what we experienced this time was a disgrace. The quality, taste and ambience are far removed from what was previously offered and unfortunately we can no longer recommend the restaurant. A disappointment across the board.

Alle Bewertungen unterhalb befriedigend kann ich nur bestätigen. Sie können oder wollen einfach nicht. Als Lokal mit deutschem Speisenangebot wären sie innerhalb von max. 8 Wochen pleite. Hohe Preise, wenig auf dem Teller und extrem schlechter Service. Jede Currywurstbude - schade dass es nur noch ganz wenige gibt - ist serviceorientierter. Schade um die Zeit, die wir dort verbrachten, um halbgare patatas mit mojosauce, knackig wie Äpfel, intensivst zu kauen. So macht spanische Küche keine Freude.

Der Besuch war der totale Reinfall. Trotz bestehender Reservierung wurde uns ein viel zu kleiner Tisch in der Nähe der Toiletten im Keller zugewiesen. Bei der Bestellung der Getränke zeigte sich die vollkommene Unfähigkeit des Personals zum ersten Mal. Es musste die Bestellung bei gerade 4 Personen mehrfach wiederholt werden, da wir einfach nicht verstanden wurden. Dann musste mehrfach nachgefragt werden, da vier Getränke in vier Etappen und Erinnerungen mit min. 5 - 10 min Abstand an den Tisch gebracht wurden. Die Bestellung der Speisen war die nächste Katastrophe. Wir wurden wieder nicht verstanden - selbst eine Bestellung in Spanischer Sprache ging nur mit Problemen. Die Tapas waren sehr kleine Portionen, nicht besonders lecker, aber ganz schön teuer. Der Tintenfisch war ein gekochter Gummitententakel - einfach grausam. Der Rest war einfach und nicht besonderes erwähnenswert. Aufgrund der kleinen Portionen haben wir nachbestellen müssen, um unseren Hunger zu stillen. Die Nachbestellungen von Speisen und Getränken waren nur nach mehrfachen Erinnerungen des lustlosen und immer überforderten Personals möglich. Zudem wurden manche bestellten Speisen nicht an den Tisch gebracht - Umsatz generieren konnte das Personal auf keinen Fall. Fazit: Besser ein anderes Restaurant aufsuchen.

So, I don't understand the good reviews. But I can say that for such prices there has to be something good on the table. Unfortunately that is not enough. I'd rather leave the money at a kebab shop. If you want to leave hungry at the end, you can order your food here.

Clear rocket from me 🚀 Great tapas of the highest quality with enough variety. I was also surprised by the wine selection, which I found to be very impressive. Small but more than comfortable. Even though the weather wasn't great, the small outdoor area was also more than perfectly designed. The location right next to Heidelberg's old and historic bridge is beautiful.

Nice cozy atmosphere. Very nice courteous service. Wines are priced slightly higher. Patatas bravas not recommended. Actually a simple dish. In terms of taste, I think the potatoes here were cooked, only fried briefly and still not cooked through. Firm to the bite and floury. The salsa brava was a liquid, indefinable sauce. More like gravy? Definitely not salsa brava. Also absolutely not spicy as it should be and as described on the menu. When I asked why it wasn't spicy, the answer was "the guests don't like spicy salsa." And that from the (perhaps German?) Spaniard who declares spicy salsa on the menu! Unfortunately disappointing.

We tried to eat paella in this restaurant, but after 2 hours of waiting did not get anything to eat. The explanations were multitude and not so convincing like "we don't get it out of the kitchen (whatever it means). Aftewards the restaurant informed that it's the customer's duty to make sure that he/she gets what was ordered ... the restaurant obviously has no responsibility. Might be so, but I'll never try again at the "der kleiner Spanier".

We ordered paella which we never received. As an explanation, we received many imaginative theories. Hungry, looking for another place to eat on Saturday night...

We went there yesterday on the recommendation of our hotel, but were very disappointed. Unfortunately, the tappas were all brought out one at a time, almost 10 minutes apart (even though there were hardly any guests in the restaurant), so we had to eat them all one after the other because otherwise they would have gotten cold. Some were extremely tasty, others completely lacked the spices and thus the taste. The waiter was very unfriendly and inattentive, empty glasses were ignored (I have never experienced this in any Tappas Bar before). Since we didn't give a tip due to the unfriendliness and poor service, our waiter naturally said goodbye. Very nice location on the bridge, but apparently designed for tourists who you won't see again anyway... it's a shame!

The wine selection in ‘The Little Spanier’ was excellent. The white wine was light and fruity, while the red wine impressed with its full, velvety note. The fried anchovies were crispy and fresh, perfect with a squeeze of lemon. The prawns were juicy and aromatic, simply a highlight. The grilled meat was also tender and perfectly seasoned. The olives as a starter, together with fresh bread, were an ideal start. Added to this is the beautiful view of the Neckar, which rounds off the experience. A great restaurant for Spanish cuisine lovers!

Very good restaurant with a great selection of tapas and a feel-good atmosphere. Only the reservation via the contact form doesn't seem to work properly. I then had to do this over the phone. We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately the paella was extremely salty. When we complained, we received a dessert as compensation. We both had gastrointestinal problems that evening until the next evening. Very unfortunate.

Nice little lockal with delicious Spanish dishes. The tapas are of good quality and the portions are OK. One point of criticism is the somewhat unpleasant background noise when there are many guests on site.

Leider war unsere Erfahrung heute nicht so toll… Sitzplätze draußen alle wackelig und zusammen gestoppelt. Leider auch sehr unbequem. Der junge Mann der bedient hat mal gar nicht auf Zack… alles hat ewig gedauert… tapas kamen nicht zusammen sondern komplett durcheinander… die Oliven und das Brot geht zum Schluss erst… merkwürdig… geschmacklich gut aber keine Explosion… wir würden vermutlich nicht nochmal hingehen… ev im Winter dann drinnen… da sah es gemütlicher aus… draußen war eine wirkliche Herausforderung für rücken und Hintern.

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food as it failed due to the overwhelmed service. We waited almost 10 minutes until a card was brought which landed on the table without a greeting. After another 20 minutes it wasn't possible to place an order... they didn't even ask for drinks even though the waitress passed the table at least 10 times, always with just a plate for the neighboring table.
