So, I don't understand the good reviews. But I can say that for such prices there has to be something good on the table. Unfortunately that is not enough. I'd rather leave the money at a kebab shop. If you want to leave hungry at the end, you can order your food here.

Clear rocket from me 🚀 Great tapas of the highest quality with enough variety. I was also surprised by the wine selection, which I found to be very impressive. Small but more than comfortable. Even though the weather wasn't great, the small outdoor area was also more than perfectly designed. The location right next to Heidelberg's old and historic bridge is beautiful.

Nice cozy atmosphere. Very nice courteous service. Wines are priced slightly higher. Patatas bravas not recommended. Actually a simple dish. In terms of taste, I think the potatoes here were cooked, only fried briefly and still not cooked through. Firm to the bite and floury. The salsa brava was a liquid, indefinable sauce. More like gravy? Definitely not salsa brava. Also absolutely not spicy as it should be and as described on the menu. When I asked why it wasn't spicy, the answer was "the guests don't like spicy salsa." And that from the (perhaps German?) Spaniard who declares spicy salsa on the menu! Unfortunately disappointing.

We tried to eat paella in this restaurant, but after 2 hours of waiting did not get anything to eat. The explanations were multitude and not so convincing like "we don't get it out of the kitchen (whatever it means). Aftewards the restaurant informed that it's the customer's duty to make sure that he/she gets what was ordered ... the restaurant obviously has no responsibility. Might be so, but I'll never try again at the "der kleiner Spanier".

We went there yesterday on the recommendation of our hotel, but were very disappointed. Unfortunately, the tappas were all brought out one at a time, almost 10 minutes apart (even though there were hardly any guests in the restaurant), so we had to eat them all one after the other because otherwise they would have gotten cold. Some were extremely tasty, others completely lacked the spices and thus the taste. The waiter was very unfriendly and inattentive, empty glasses were ignored (I have never experienced this in any Tappas Bar before). Since we didn't give a tip due to the unfriendliness and poor service, our waiter naturally said goodbye. Very nice location on the bridge, but apparently designed for tourists who you won't see again anyway... it's a shame!

We ordered paella which we never received. As an explanation, we received many imaginative theories. Hungry, looking for another place to eat on Saturday night...

The wine selection in ‘The Little Spanier’ was excellent. The white wine was light and fruity, while the red wine impressed with its full, velvety note. The fried anchovies were crispy and fresh, perfect with a squeeze of lemon. The prawns were juicy and aromatic, simply a highlight. The grilled meat was also tender and perfectly seasoned. The olives as a starter, together with fresh bread, were an ideal start. Added to this is the beautiful view of the Neckar, which rounds off the experience. A great restaurant for Spanish cuisine lovers!

Very good restaurant with a great selection of tapas and a feel-good atmosphere. Only the reservation via the contact form doesn't seem to work properly. I then had to do this over the phone. We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately the paella was extremely salty. When we complained, we received a dessert as compensation. We both had gastrointestinal problems that evening until the next evening. Very unfortunate.

Leider war unsere Erfahrung heute nicht so toll… Sitzplätze draußen alle wackelig und zusammen gestoppelt. Leider auch sehr unbequem. Der junge Mann der bedient hat mal gar nicht auf Zack… alles hat ewig gedauert… tapas kamen nicht zusammen sondern komplett durcheinander… die Oliven und das Brot geht zum Schluss erst… merkwürdig… geschmacklich gut aber keine Explosion… wir würden vermutlich nicht nochmal hingehen… ev im Winter dann drinnen… da sah es gemütlicher aus… draußen war eine wirkliche Herausforderung für rücken und Hintern.

Nice little lockal with delicious Spanish dishes. The tapas are of good quality and the portions are OK. One point of criticism is the somewhat unpleasant background noise when there are many guests on site.

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food as it failed due to the overwhelmed service. We waited almost 10 minutes until a card was brought which landed on the table without a greeting. After another 20 minutes it wasn't possible to place an order... they didn't even ask for drinks even though the waitress passed the table at least 10 times, always with just a plate for the neighboring table.

This restaurant has changed my opinion about mushrooms. If I could, I would give it 6 stars.

We had dinner here on Friday evening. We had a wide selection of the most delicious tapas and paella. Everything tasted wonderful and we were served very nicely. Only the tapas could have been a little cheaper. You have to expect a bill that is above average.

Spontan sind wir beim „der kleine Spanier“ gelandet. Was ein Genuss! Ich hab noch NIE so leckere Tapas gegessen (Pipmientos, Garnelen, Patatas Mojo, Chorizo karamelisiert mit Pistazien (ein Traum))! Ich kann dieses Restaurant nur empfehlen. Die Bedienung ist ein bischen latschig, spanische Gemütlichkeit…aber ich fand es nicht schlimm! War einfach toll!

Extrem enttäuscht! Totaler Touri-Laden. Wir wollten als Einheimische einen netten Tapas verbringen. Wir hatten reserviert, als wir ankamen waren die zwei (!!!) vorhandenen Mitarbeiter - an einem Samstagabend - sichtlich überfordert und hatten keine Ahnung, wo hin mit uns - trotz bestätigter Reservierung. Letzten Endes durften wir dann alleine im Keller Platz nehmen, wo die Kunden ständig zur Toilette sind und das Personal ihr Getränkelager hatten. Es hatte 15 Minuten gedauert, bis wir begrüßt wurden. Die Tapas waren überhaupt nicht original spanisch und sehr süß, z. B. die salsiccia. Zwei Speisen, welche wir bestellten, wurden an den Nachbartisch geliefert. Weder der Nachbartisch scheint dies bemerkt zu haben, noch der Bedienung ist es aufgefallen. Bei Bezahlung wiesen wir darauf hin, dass zwei Speisen nicht geliefert wurden und diese bitte von der Rechnung genommen werden. Dies geschah immerhin ohne Anstand seitens der Bedienung.

In terms of taste, it lacks the original Spanish tapas taste and flair and most of the tapas were just way too sweet, e.g. B. the salsiccia and the sauce of the patatas bravas, reminiscent of the taste of broth and gravy. Ultimately we were allowed to sit in the basement - next to the toilets and drinks storage, which was suboptimal. The service wasn't particularly friendly, no "Hello", no "Is everything OK for you?". In addition, it takes a while for the order to be processed. The tapas arrived at extremely different times, up to 15 minutes, and were sometimes cold. Two of the dishes we ordered were delivered to the neighboring table. You completely lose your desire and mood. When paying, we mentioned this and asked us to adjust the invoice. At least this was done without any problems on the part of the waitress. We wanted to leave the restaurant as quickly as possible. It's really a shame about the nice restaurant and the great location!

We ate there as part of a JGA with a larger group. It's a relatively small location and as a result we put a lot of strain on the team with the volume of orders. All tapas and paellas were great. Great quality, fresh products and a reasonable price-performance ratio. The team was very accommodating and very friendly. We'll definitely be back. Thank you

Had to order the drinks three times. Waited a very long time to be served. Pulpo was a bit rubbery and the potatoes were undercooked. Generally ok. But wouldn't come back.

Went there today to eat paella. It was delicious. The environment is excellent. Will definitely come back again. The only thing we momentarily forgot about was when we reordered drinks. But when asked, I apologized. It can happen sometimes.

Terrific. Stopped in after the tour through Heidelberg and “rolled” back to the car after eating, absolutely full and satisfied. Great service, super delicious food and a great location. Keep it up.

Very tasty food at fair prices. Great ambience right on the old bridge. Unfortunately: !!! Hopefully only day form!!! Unfortunately it has to be said that the service was pretty poor. With all my love, if the service staff doesn't speak English or German and you are even lied to when you ask whether the food you ordered has finally arrived, then unfortunately that doesn't contribute to the guest's satisfaction. I can understand that it's really not easy to get staff at the moment, but employees who can't do the most basic things, like taking an order, because the language barrier fails, is somehow damaging to business. Please ensure that your employees can at least communicate with your customers without using their hands and feet in the future. Unfortunately, I was disappointed and upset after my stay.

Great location, right on the historic bridge. If you can get a spot outside, it's perfect for people watching. The paella was very good, it just took forever. This was pointed out when ordering because it was made extra and fresh. The chairs outside are extremely uncomfortable and the table wobbled (that kind of thing annoys me). The service could be a little more on point. Prices are reasonable considering the location and quality of food. I can recommend the little Spaniard.

The little Spaniard is very inconspicuously hidden in a kind of niche at the beginning of the bridge. There's no need to hide this little insider tip in Heidelberg! You can enjoy high-quality, authentic tapas in a cozy, compact atmosphere. From classic to house recommendations, everything is included. I was amazed by both the presence and the taste of the small dishes. Thanks to guests, employees and ultimately also the location, an eerily cozy atmosphere is created to linger. The only thing that takes some getting used to is the gradient of individual seats, so it's best to choose the seats in the restaurant or inside. Nevertheless, the little Spaniard surprised me very positively and gets the rating “Must-See in Heidelberg” for me.

Unfortunately I can't understand the good reviews. The food is ok, but relatively bland and unimaginative. Some of the prices were absolutely outrageous: the grilled “gambas” for €16 were 6 mini prawns that you could get for €5 a kilo. The taste is also monotonous. The bread with “vegetable dip” was simply peppers and onions in cheap, light oil with no spices or flavor. Overall, a failure that has nothing to do with a good Spaniard. In addition, the entire shandy was dumped over my lap when it was served and I only got one espresso on the house, unbelievable. Although I wouldn't necessarily have wanted something for free given the taste.

Unfortunately, the boss apparently overbooked the place (said the waitress). So we were first put in the basement, even though the sun was shining outside and no one wanted to sit down there. If the basement had been nice, we would have stayed. However, my mother had a coughing fit down there and the refrigerator kept making unpleasant and loud noises. We were kindly given a seat outside. However, in a very uneven place. Twice my chair almost tipped over so much that I fell a long way onto the stone floor. This is really dangerous and could have ended badly. The food was tasty, but didn't blow us away. Price was a bit too high. I think somewhere else you can eat at least as well and also have better service and a seat without the risk of injury. I gave it one more star because we got a drink on the house at the end and because the waitresses were very friendly.

We already know the place from the previous restaurant, but yesterday we were there for the first time at the Kleiner Spanier. The restaurant is beautifully located in the old town directly on the Old Bridge. Had our aperitif outside and then went indoors to eat. Everything is very uncomplicated. Very tasty food and service very attentive and accommodating. Large selection of wines, wine tastings are held at regular intervals in the vaulted cellar.

It was tasty, but for the price it was absolutely nothing special. I would also have liked the selection to be a little larger. But what's most annoying is that the dishes all come individually at a very long interval (20 minutes+). This means you have to eat everything individually or accept that it will get cold. The interior of the restaurant seems rather thrown together. It was quite cold and the table was too small for tapas for two people.

The place is nice and very central but the food was bad. We took a Paella, it was so watery and salty and the sea food was tasteless.

The prawns in oil (not even in olive oil!) were also the worst I've ever eaten from a Spaniard and the pulpo for the price was just a tiny little piece. The lady in service was nice. In times when it is now a “luxury” for each of us to go out to eat with the entire family, it should be worth it. It shouldn't be the case that such prices are charged for such quality. For us the evening was an absolute failure. The next day we went for steak. We spent €270 but everyone was happy. That's exactly how it should be! Best regards

Great location, we are locals and love coming to eat. The portions are relatively large for tapas. The two of us had 5 tapas and were full.

Very nice little restaurant. The tapas were good and the service was good too. The prices are rather high. The tapas were served one after the other, which was a new experience for us.

The food tasted very tasty, but it took 20 minutes until we even got the menu. After 45 minutes we got something to drink. One of the waitresses didn't even manage to serve us something to drink or talk to us, we were ignored by him. I don't know if this is the right job for him. The meal took a long time and some of the food wasn't served at all. The young waiter gave it his all and there was something on the house, but unfortunately you can't run a place like this on your own. Could be a great restaurant but unfortunately there are no employees. We spent over 2 hours there and didn't receive our food. we won't come back.

There were two of us there and we each had 1 tappa with fish, one with patatas bravas, even with the comment that they belong together. My friend got his shrimp after about 30 minutes, 20 minutes later I got my octopus, which wasn't even good. We asked for the potatoes and the waitress, who only spoke a little English, said they would come soon. After another 10 minutes we started eating and 15 minutes after we were finished, the waitress came again without the patatas, so we told her that we didn't want to eat them, they would have been a side dish. 10 more minutes later we got the patatas, cold and tasteless. Of course without any apology or comment. This was the worst experience I've had with Spanish cuisine, definitely not worth the price. Never eat there again, despite the perfect location.

Wir haben nach dem ersten sehr schönen Abend am Folgeabend sofort wieder beim kleinen Spanier gegessen. Neben der Tatsache, dass wir uns sehr gut aufgehoben, beraten und bedient fühlten; haben wir sehr lecker gegessen, getrunken und zwei schöne Abende im kleinen Spanier verlebt. Danke an Nicole die das sehr gut managed.

Beim Spanier erwarte ich Tapas, kleine Schleckereien in entsprechenden Portionen, so dass man 4-5 Tapas essen könnte. Die Tapas hier sind zwar auf einem grossen Teller angerichtet, jedoch viel zu teuer. Es gab viel zu viel Brot, z.B. zu Oliven - da brauche ich kein Brot. Also in Spanien sind die Tapas billiger. Wir waren zu viert, es kamen die sog. Tapas in Etappen auf unseren Tisch. Die Getränke wurden erst nach zweimaliger Erinnerung serviert. Die Lage ist super; da sollte man sich anstrengen. Insgesamt: unverschämt teuer. Schlechter Service. Touristenfalle.

Because of the positive reviews, we were really looking forward to our first visit there. Unfortunately we were disappointed. One waitress was really nice, one was super snappy and only spoke English. There were 6 of us and the tapas were delivered so far apart that it was just no fun. The "standard tapa" shrimp in garlic oil (more water than oil) was only finally brought after the third request, by which time everyone else had long since finished eating. We didn't hear an apology. For example, his espresso “on the house” would have been a nice sign, especially since the boss had noticed the whole thing. The portions are manageable and taste good, but nothing more. I was looking forward to the Canarian potatoes, which unfortunately had very little in common with the original (wrinkled, salty skin). They were oily half potatoes out of the oven. The sauce was good. The draft beer was warm, but got better in the second round. The rosé was very good. We discussed whether Crema Catalan should be served warm or cold. Here it was cold, although very tasty. Overall, the presentation of the food didn't look like it did in the pictures. Maybe the chef had a bad day, it's just a shame we got it. Our conclusion: we can't quite understand the hype surrounding the restaurant.

The food tastes average, but the portions are very small compared to the price. A lot of savings are made, especially when it comes to fish. The waiting time is also very long.

Früher fand ich das Essen toll, deshalb waren wir jetzt mit der Familie wieder dort. Leider ist das Niveau sehr gesunken. Das Essen schmeckt durchschnittlich, aber die Portionen sind eindeutig zu klein für den veranschlagten Preis. Vor allem beim Fisch wird extrem gespart an der Menge. Also bitte nicht mit Hunger kommen, auch weil die Wartezeit sehr lange war.

The Aldondigas have no taste, but are not frozen inside..... The beer was served in a dirty glass. The waiter wasn't interested in my comment about the dirt on the glass. But it was cheap. But never again!

Sehr schönes kleines Lokal mit einem ausgezeichneten, sehr aufmerksamen und freundlichen Service (besonders Maria hat uns den Abend über toll betreut).

Gestern sind wir zu viert in diesem tollen Lokal gewesen. Die Tapas waren sehr lecker. Superfreundliche Bedienung, und auch das Ambiente paßt hervorragend zum Thema Tapas.

UPDATE: I got an ominously worded email from Google Reviews which said that the restaurant was attempting to have my review taken down. Thankfully I was able to contest this as I still have my receipt of purchase (from over 3 years ago no less), but this is really unpleasant and the email was certainly not the sort of thing I like to get in my inbox, or deal with. Customers should be allowed to leave their own honest reviews of their experiences. I'm honestly appalled and I am reducing my review from 3 stars to 1 star. -- I ordered the paella as a takeaway, which was delicious but also grossly overpriced for what was offered. For over 30 euros I can think of many many things I could buy, and with more variety. Maybe their in-shop offers are better value.

Hatten einen schönen Abend, Essen war sehr lecker, Getränke waren super. Bedienung top. Wir würden immer wieder kommen und es lohnt sich.

Ambiente ist schön eingerichtet und auch die Chorizo mit Pistazie ist sehr lecker. Leider ist die Menge und der Preis überhaupt nicht im Verhältnis. Ist einfach viel zu teuer für die kleine Menge der Portionen.

Sehr leckere Tapas, grosse Auswahl und sehr schönes Weinangebot!

Man sitzt im Sommer wunderschön draußen, direkt an der alten Brücke. Es gibt eine tolle Auswahl an Tapas, sowohl „klassische“ Tapas wie Tortilla oder Pimientos, als auch etwas ausgefallenere. Besonders lecker fanden wir z.B. die Schweinerippchen mit Bratapfel-Dip. Der Service war sehr freundlich und wir hatten einen wirklich tollen Abend hier.

Super Essen! Alex ist ein klasse Gastgeber. Auch für Vegan super geeignet.

Wurden draußen auf Terrasse von einem Regenschauer überrascht, und obwohl alles schon reserviert war, haben wir trotzdem noch einen Platz in der wundervollen Vinothek bekommen!!! Vielen Dank an die super netten Kellner, Kellnerinnen!!! Es ist nur zu empfehlen dort! Alles war sehr sehr frisch, super lecker und recht schnell am Tisch!!! Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend 😘 😘

Oberleckeres Essen und superfreunfliche Mitarbeiter - wir kommen wieder

Es ist alles in Ordnung, anständige Tapas, schöne Lage, draußen sitzen direkt an der alten Brücke, angemessene Preise. Es ist aber auch nicht so, dass ich sagen würde, wow da muss man hin. Ihr macht aber nix falsch!

Sehr toll gelegen mit sehr leckeren Tapas und einer schön aufbereiteten Karte. Wir haben es sehr genossen.

Hier waren wir vor Jahren schon mal essen, aber da war es noch ein Koreanisches Lokal. Jetzt ist es ein Spanier und zwar ein richtig guter 👍🏻. Mit einer Gruppe von 9 Personen hatten wir reserviert und haben wirklich fantastisch gegessen. Personal gibt es zur genüge und alle waren sehr freundlich und auf unser Wohl bedacht. Alle bestellten Tapas waren sehr lecker und wir sind zufrieden und satt wieder raus. Danke dafür.

Highly recommended. The service and the taste of the food was absolutely awesome. Specially the service is highly friendly and attentive. All of them speak English. There are many small dishes to choose from and everything tastes awesome. We did order stuffed mushrooms and garlic mushrooms. The prawns were really good too. The ambience is good with the river side facing. The cocktails were good, I would recommend Gin basil for trying. Overall an awesome place to spend an evening with family and friends.

Ein wenig teuerer für die Portionsgrößen, jedoch war das Essen traumhaft, vor allem das Lamm war grandios. Die Kellner waren relativ flott und immer nett. Kulinarisch zu empfeheln

Essen hat super geschmeckt und preislich auch vollkommen ok

Vom Ambiente und der Auswahl her nicht zu vergleichen mit zB. dem Pablos in Karlsruhe-Durlach, aber alle Speisen frisch zubereitet, nichts sah nach Tiefkühl-Ware aus und alles war sehr lecker. Die Lage in Heidelberg zahlt man natürlich mit, aber es war auch preislich noch im Rahmen. Wir werden wieder kommen!

Wirklich leckere Tapas und freundliches Personal. Je nachdem wie groß der Hunger und Appetit ist, sind 2-3 Tapas ausreichend. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Gutes Essen aber ein bisschen teurer, natürlich Ich muss auch sagen dass die Qualität von das esser ist sehr hoch. Die location ist sehr schön,direkt am Alt Brücke das wegen ist ein bisschen teur. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich, nett und kundenorientiert. Ich kann das nur empfehlen 💚💚💚💚
