Here, Mom cooks herself. We were at a very cozy, small, but very nice restaurant in Bremen today. The food was really good. I've had Saltimbocca à la Romana many times before, but here it was perfect and, in a pleasingly large portion, the pasta dish was truly delicious. The wait was a bit long, but that was due to the fact that the owner cooks on a muddy stove, which gives the whole place a very rustic feel. The price-performance ratio was absolutely fine, even if it wasn't cheap. We enjoyed it very much.

Very tasty pizza, but unfortunately small, unkempt, and dirty. They definitely need to pay more attention to the cleanliness of the tables.

We were there this evening with a large group. We had called ahead, so we could have been prepared. Opening hours started at 5:00 p.m., but at 5:30 p.m. when we arrived, it was still closed. Service was almost nonexistent. We were given a drink at first, but then we had to find someone to talk to. We ended up forgetting our drinks. The waiters were standing outside smoking instead of attending to the guests. Disappointed with the food... the portions were very small. Baked tortellini with spinach and mushrooms. The casserole dish contained five tortellini with a bit of spinach in a sauce. Several people shared this dish, but everyone was served so little. It wouldn't have been enough for anyone. It tasted okay, but it was very garlicky. The tagliatelle with salmon was very fatty, and the salmon tasted rancid. The beguette was dark. The pizza was large, but very dry. There wasn't enough tomato sauce as a base. It's really a shame...we can't recommend it and wouldn't come back.

The atmosphere is nice. However, the pizza dough was like a tortilla wrap, far too dry and not crispy at all. The toppings were okay. The mini portion of homemade mezzelune with porcini mushrooms in Gorgonzola sauce was okay, but you couldn't really taste either.

Great little restaurant with very friendly staff! We had pizza and bruschetta as starters, and both dishes were perfect! We'll definitely be back.

The two of us went there for dinner one evening. The service was really very nice. The food was quite cold. What we didn't like at all, however, were the dirty and greasy oil bottles. They could really use a cleaning.

The atmosphere was okay... the pizza was large and very good, the salmon pasta was rather average, the baked eggplant was drenched in tomato sauce, and the bread was burnt black. Service was practically nonexistent. After a long wait at the door, a waiter finally came. The tables were only half full. Not even a "hello"... another long wait, and we were allowed to order. We only got one drink, and after a futile wait, we went to the counter to pay. We also carried the rest of the pizza to the front ourselves... after collecting the money, there was no "thank you" or "goodbye." There certainly won't be a return visit.

I don't usually like writing mediocre/negative reviews because I know how much passion and effort goes into running a restaurant – especially the last few years have been anything but a walk in the park for the restaurant industry. However, after our last visit and after reading some of the reviews here, I'd like to share my experience at Don Camillo. First, the positives: The restaurant is cozy and authentic, the service and the kitchen staff are friendly and attentive, even if something got a little mixed up with our order. That can happen! Unfortunately, the criticism, and I'm not the only one to point this out, is directed at the heart of every pizzeria: the pizza itself. In the past, this pizza actually lived up to the claim on the website "Best Pizza in Bremen." The dough was thin, crispy, and fluffy all at once. Unfortunately, for about two years now, the pizza dough has apparently no longer been freshly formed for each pizza order, but pre-baked in the morning and taken out of a bag as a flatbread with toppings. As a result, the dough no longer rises in the oven and doesn't become airy and crispy, but unfortunately, it's very hard, making it impossible to cut through the untopped edges with a knife. The oven also seems to have been underheated, at least on the day we visited, because the pizzas were lukewarm. We noted this and asked for them to reheat them. Unfortunately, that didn't help much; the dough just got drier. I can't comment on the other dishes; we were only there for pizza. Unfortunately, that's the last time! I'm happy to pay between 15 and 20 euros for a good pizza, depending on the toppings, and wait almost 60 minutes, but then it has to be really good. If it's not possible for a small restaurant to have the dough freshly rolled and shaped when ordering, then the price has to be lowered or they'll remove the pizza from the menu and focus on the other dishes. The price and the designation as a stone-baked pizzeria lead you to expect top-class quality, which unfortunately isn't achieved. That's why the disappointing reviews don't surprise me, just the owner's reaction: Instead of taking the comments about the quality of the pizza as an opportunity to rethink the current baking method, they deflect any criticism by pointing out that the restaurant business is a backbreaking job and that the owners are people, not machines. All of that is true! But it doesn't change the fact that you can expect a good pizza for the price. Don Camillo himself has shown that this is possible!

We spontaneously went to Don Camillo yesterday – in my opinion, the best pizza in Bremen. I've only ever had such thin and crispy crust in Italy! You'll have to wait a bit, but the pizza was definitely worth it – we'll be back!

Update: After the personnel changes, unfortunately, it's no longer comparable to the old days. The pizza is okay, but not anymore. Old review: After many comparisons, in my opinion, it's still the best pizza in Bremen. The dough makes all the difference.

At first glance, the small Italian restaurant seems really cute - comfortably furnished, with a lot of charm and attention to detail. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of our visit. The service left a lot to be desired: After we ordered, we waited a whopping hour and a half for our pizza. During the entire time, no one came by to ask about us or at least to offer a few slices of bread or something else to pass the waiting time - that would really have been the least. At some point we decided to just pay and leave the food - we just didn't feel like it anymore. An apology? None. A discount or a small drink on the house to make up for it? Neither. Conclusion: It's a shame about the nice atmosphere - unfortunately the service and organization were subpar. Going to a restaurant is no fun.

Recently at the Italian restaurant: The first impression was irritating, our assigned table was within easy reach of a broom and squeegee, covered with a tablecloth that had large holes in it. We were served the wrong pizza, a drink was forgotten and the bottle of still water we ordered was carbonated. Under these impressions it was difficult to spend a relaxed, enjoyable evening. The pizzas did not meet the expectations based on the local reviews, definitely not the best pizza in Bremen. We hope that the service and ambience will improve. 😉

The food was very, very tasty. You felt at home, warmly welcomed and immediately welcomed. The store may not be big, but it's cozy and you don't feel like a number.

I went to Don Camillo with a good friend. We sat in the winter garden. The service was very accommodating and super friendly, happy to give 6/5 stars here. We each had a pizza. The Vincenco can be seen in the picture. Clear recommendation! Delicious. The wine was also great. Clear recommendation.

Was für ein Reinfall – wir kommen nicht wieder Früher war Camillo für uns als Familie immer ein verlässlicher Ort für gutes Essen und schöne gemeinsame Abende. Umso enttäuschender war unser letzter Besuch. Eine von uns bestellte Lasagne wurde versehentlich an den Nebentisch gebracht. Der dortige Gast probierte sie, bevor der Irrtum auffiel. Statt das Gericht auszutauschen, nahm die Bedienung es kurz mit in die Küche – und brachte es dann, sichtbar angebissen, an unseren Tisch. So etwas geht einfach nicht. Es zeigt fehlenden Respekt gegenüber den Gästen und grundlegende Probleme im Umgang mit solchen Situationen. Für uns ist klar: Das war unser letzter Besuch bei Camillo. Wir können das Restaurant leider nicht mehr weiterempfehlen.

Expensive (22.50 for a pizza)!!, small and cramped in the restaurant! Pizza of not even average quality! And new record... I've never had to pay that much for a pizza in my entire life! 😁 We definitely won't be coming back!

The pizza didn't even fit on the plate

Maybe it's good for the eye, but otherwise the pizza is way too big. One half would have been enough. If the price were 2/3 of the current price, everyone would benefit from it... and it would be more sustainable. I can only agree with what has already been written here: smaller would be more! Actually, I didn't want to write anything about it here. But when I looked at the bill again at home, I was shocked: €1 for a glass of tap water!! To be honest, this has never happened to me. Conclusion: not again.

Al llegar, nos dimos cuenta de que las pizzas eran grandes y queríamos pedir una pizza para compartir. Se nos informó de que tendríamos que pagar un recargo de 5 euros si lo hacíamos. El razonamiento era que el restaurante perdería ingresos en este caso (si alguien más aparecía y pedía una comida completa) pero podríamos pedir una ensalada con la pizza para evitar el recargo. El restaurante estaba vacío aparte de dos mesas durante nuestra estancia. Pedimos la ensalada en su lugar que llegó completamente sin ningún condimento. La mayoría de nosotros tuvimos que llevar grandes partes de sus pizzas a casa debido a su tamaño. La calidad no era genial. Definitivamente no volveríamos.

There's nothing wrong with the pizza at all, it's huge and delicious. Almost too big, according to our observation, 80% of the people allowed themselves to pack something. Others should judge to what extent this makes sense. And we had plenty of time to observe, we waited well over an hour for our four pizzas. The pizzeria also offers pizzas for pick-up, and our impression was that those picking up got their pizza much quicker than we did. Overall, this really bothered us. The waiting time was felt to be significantly too long and so was the preference given to people picking up items. And so we were there twice: for the first and last time.

We always go to Don Camillo's with the family. Very, very good food and super nice, just some music would be nice :) Thank you, we love you from the Feldstraße

The four of us recently went to see Don Camillo. To be honest, our visit wasn't that good. We were served by a very talkative and excited lady who was very pushy and hardly left us alone. The food was quite okay, the pizzas were very large, but also well black on the edges, so you had to cut a lot off. Somehow strange atmosphere, very narrow tables, very loud... we had the feeling that we were being gossiped about. Unfortunately, I don't understand the recommendations and positive reviews.

Until recently, the very best pizza was available here. Unfortunately, the pizzas have recently been overloaded with cheese and no longer taste that exceptionally good. Really a shame... On the weekend, when there is a lot going on, guests often wait far too long for starters and main courses. One gets the impression that out-of-home sales sometimes have priority here. Nevertheless, the staff here speaks Italian and on relaxed days you can also feel the Italian flair.

We ordered 2 pizzas, 0.1 ml wine and apple spritzer, the size of which was not asked, and tap water (0.2, 1€) To our astonishment there came: 5 slices of mozzarella, 5 slices of tomatoes, 2 leaves of basil. Then 0.4! Apple spritzer, 0.2 wine, we didn't complain. 2 sparingly topped and seasoned pizzas, smaller would be more! In the end the mozzarella was charged €12.50, despite our objections. All in all 55€!! Never again

Had a reservation today at 7 p.m. Unfortunately the place was taken, even though we were on time. But it was solved pragmatically by placing us outside. Ordered two pizzas. After about 30 minutes, two pizzas were served. But these weren't for us, but for other guests. At 8:00 p.m. we were informed that the pizza we ordered was not available. I should order another one. I had to specifically ask for the card. The new order should then arrive in 5 minutes. After 15 minutes bread came. It was then served about 90 minutes after the order was placed. The old order appeared on the invoice. Was changed after complaint. There is still room for improvement.

The ambience is nice, but the service was rather poor, pizza took forever, then the wrong pizza arrived and we were so hungry. I would have liked the setvice (who was super nice and friendly, by the way) to have at least brought some bread with dip or something similar. It can happen that an order is misunderstood, but the long wait for the right pizza was rather unpleasant. In addition, the truffle pesto on my friend's pizza tasted somehow musty, which was a shame. I actually always remembered this shop very well 🥲

I can't express how wonderful this place was, the word authentic comes to mind when i describe it. It's one of those little places where you know a family started such a thing. If there's nothing else in Bremen to visit, this place is worth a trip to Bremen The only tiny downside is, we waited 30 mins. However, again worth it.

My mother and I were just eating at Don Camillo - we imagined it would be great, and that's what it looked like from the outside. Unfortunately, inside it was almost entirely disappointing to dismaying: the vinegar and oil bottles that I needed to dress the salad (small Insalata mista, fresh and crunchy) were completely sticky (even though the restaurant had only just opened). Then came our main courses, my mother's Scaloppine al Limone was at best ok, but definitely too sour, my Saltimbocca, on the other hand, had a really unpleasant aftertaste that we couldn't explain... We still wanted to at least give dessert another chance and ordered Tiramisù and Panna Cotta - the panna cotta itself was okay, but it was weighed down with fresh cream (what does fresh cream have to do with panna cotta, i.e. cooked cream??), the tiramisù tasted strongly of amaretto and was not properly homogenized , the coffee used was too weak and there was too much sugar... When we were asked what the main course was like, my mother kindly said that both meat dishes left a lot to be desired, which was simply shrugged off and accepted without any consequence. We had a bottle of Pellegrino with the very poor meal and had to shell out 80 euros for our disappointing experience - my mother, out of sheer anger, collected the 5 euros that we had left on the table for reasons of decency when we left. Never again !

Starters extremely small and expensive, pizzas extremely large and ok. Very tight seating, therefore e.g. T. unpleasant proximity to unknown people. Overall poor price/performance ratio. Elsewhere you can get grappa after a generous tip, but not here...

I came here for my birthday on nov 17th without a reservation and the staff made an effort to find mus a table even when I was so spontaneous. I took an antipasti and the tagliatelle salmone, it was amazing, exactly what I needed to make my birthday a good birthday. Thank you so much to everyone in the restaurant, obrigado ✌️

Bei Don Camillo ist das Essen immer hervorragend, die Pizza perfekt, für die Leute, die gar keine Ahnung von italienischer Pizza haben und den Unterschied zwischen eine Pizza aus Napoli oder Roma nicht kennen und erkennen und lieber TK Pizza verzehren, sollen sie bitte dabei bleiben und sich die ahnungslose Kommentare ersparen. Das Service sucht seines Gleichen, immer aufmerksam. Die Getränke sind sehr gut egal ob, Wein, Bier oder Wasser (San Pellegrino) immer kalt und ohne Wartezeiten. Eine Bitte an den Leuten, die nur meckern und kulinarisch gar keine Ahnung haben und eine Pizza zum Mitnehmen bestellen und nach 20 Minuten zu Hause kalt essen, bitte ißt die Pizza solange sie warm und frisch aus dem Backofen (am besten im Restaurant) rauskommt, dann ist es genießbar. Ich als Italiener kann Don Camillo zu 100% weiterempfehlen und zwar ohne wenn un aber. Antonio

Wir wohnen um die Ecke und waren häufiger in der Pizzeria essen. 1x haben wir eine viel zu teure Rechnung bekommen. Als wir das erst beim weggehen bemerkten, bin ich zurück gegangen und der Kellner sagte, er hat den Fehler auch schon gemerkt aber wollte nicht rauskommen und den Fehler klären. Er meinte irgendwann hätten wir uns ja mal wieder gesehen. Obwohl er uns gar nicht kannte. Einmal haben sie uns ne Pizza berechnet die wir nicht hatten. Einmal wollte ich mit ner Freundin einen schönen Wein trinken und die riesige Pizza teilen. Da mussten wir 5,- extra bezahlen fürs teilen. Uns reicht es. Es gibt wirklich bessere Alternative.

Die Pizzen waren etwas zu groß und lagen zum teil auf den nicht abgewischten tisch, ansonsten hat es sehr lecker geschmeckt. Und der Service war auch nett. Allerdings gebe ich einen Punkt weniger, da auf der Speisekarte steht, wenn man sich ein Hauptgericht teilt, dann wird 5Euro Aufpreis berechnet. Finden wir sehr befremdlich.

Die Don Camillo Steinofen Pizzeria in Bremen wird von einem jungen, aber leider auch unerfahrenen Team geführt. Es wäre sicherlich von Vorteil, wenn das Team in Zukunft mehr Gastronomieerfahrung sammeln könnte, um den Gästen ein noch besseres Erlebnis zu bieten. Obwohl sich das Team viel Mühe gibt, war das Essen während unseres Besuchs nur gut und nur bedingt authentisch. Es ist offensichtlich, dass sie sich bemühen, aber es besteht noch Raum für Verbesserungen, insbesondere bei der Authentizität der Gerichte. Leider waren bei unserem Besuch nicht alle Getränke verfügbar, was etwas enttäuschend war. Insgesamt möchte ich dem Team von Don Camillo Steinofen Pizzeria Bremen alles Gute wünschen. Mit mehr Erfahrung und der Behebung kleinerer Probleme wie der Getränkeauswahl, dem Pizzateig und der Gastfreundlichkeit können sie sicherlich ihr volles Potenzial entfalten und ein großartiges gastronomisches Erlebnis bieten. Wir werden gerne wiederkommen und hoffen auf eine positive Entwicklung in der Zukunft.

Sehr leckere hausgemachte Nudeln, riesen Pizzen mit leckerem dünnen Teig. Sehr nette Inhaberin und super Personal.

Wir waren zweimal dort. Beide Male wurde uns angeblich aus Versehen ein teurer Wein berechnet - statt 19,5€ haben wir 29,5€ bezahlt. Das Essen war lecker, aber nach 2-mal der gleichen Situation gehen wir nicht mehr hin. Wir wissen nicht, ob es Absicht war, aber dass es 2x passiert ist, ist fragwürdig.

Wir waren Donnerstagabend spontan hier. Sowohl die supernette Bedienung als auch das sauleckere Essen haben uns richtig gut gefallen. Außerdem sitzt man draußen sehr nett und der Hund durfte auch mit.

Pizzeria mit Luft nach oben. Selbst für Leitungswasser oder das Teilen einer Pizza muss hier bezahlt werden.

Das Essen war vernünftig auch wenn die Pizza nicht auf den Teller gepasst hat, das Sitzen im Wintergarten war ganz nett. Der Kellner hingegen war begriffsstutzig und unverschämt. Erst pampt er einen an, weil kurzfristig Gäste der Gruppe abgesprungen sind, dann muss man ihm zehnmal sagen was man möchte. Hat kein Gefühl dafür, ob man der Runde noch etwas etwas anbieten könnte und das ganz gipfelt darin, dass er ohne Beleg und ohne Portemonnaie an den Tisch tritt und dem ganzen Restaurant verkündet, wie hoch der Betrag der Rechnung ist. Habe ich so noch nicht erlebt.

Spezielle Tageskarte. Sehr gute Tortellini mit Trüffel. Pizza ist so groß wie ein Wagenrad aber sehr gelungen.

Nettes Ambiente, Pizza ist riesig und hauchdünn, aber dadurch wirkt der Belag recht sparsam deshalb auch recht trocken die Pizza. Service war leider nicht aufmerksam, nur noch 3 weitere Tische waren besetzt. Auf meine Anmerkung, den riesigen Flatschen etwas zu verkleinern wurde mit keinem Wort reagiert, das Gespräch am Tresen war ihm wohl wichtiger. Also keine Empfehlung von mir.

Die beste Pizzeria: das Essen schmeckt ausgezeichnet. Die Pizzen sind sehr groß und fabelhaft. Es gibt eine schöne Auswahl an Speisen. Der Service ist super und sehr freundlich. Am besten sitzt es sich draußen oder im Wintergarten. Unbedingt reservieren. Da ich nebenan wohne lohnt sich auch eine Pizza to go.

Die Pizza ist lecker, wenn auch sicher nicht die beste im Viertel. Die Angestellten sind entgegen kommend und erfrischend in ihrer Art. Die politischen Ansichten der Besitzerin (?) kamen ihr im unbedachten Moment über die Lippen und sind, um es salopp zu formulieren, ungewöhnlich, was einem das gute Gefühl in dem Laden versauern kann.

Das Essen war sehr gut , auch das Personal sehr freundlich, außer das die Pizza es zu groß für den Teller war , was an ihrem Geschmack nichts geändert hatt , gerne wieder.

Das Restaurant Don Camillo ist definitiv einen Besuch wert! Das Essen, insbesondere die Pizza, ist sehr lecker und wird von freundlichen Gastgebern serviert. Der Service ist ausgezeichnet und sorgt dafür, dass man sich wohl fühlt. Ich kann das Don Camillo jedem empfehlen, der auf der Suche nach einem guten Restaurant ist.

Das Beste Restaurant der Stadt!

Sowohl Pizza als auch Pasta ist super lecker. Auch das Bruscetta und das Tiramisu sind göttlich! Das Team ist unglaublich nett, zuvorkommend und schnell, auch wenn der Laden voll ist. Wir haben auch schon oft bestellt und abgeholt. Auch kein Problem.

Früher für mich die beste Pizza der Stadt. Die letzten drei Besuche waren leider einfach nur noch enttäuschend. Der Teig wurde nicht frisch ausgerollt und gebacken, sondern kam vorgebacken (vermutlich am Morgen?) als Fladen aus einer Plastiktüte. Dadurch waren die Pizzen, auf der quasi keine Soße mehr war, total trocken. Auch sonst sehr sparsam belegt. Wir haben für 32€ (!) zwei Pizzen zum mitnehmen bestellt, die Zuhause quasi wie Zwieback schmeckten. Richtig richtig schade, ich mochte diesen Ort früher sehr, die Menschen sind sehr freundlich. Nach drei Enttäuschungen in Folge, muss ich leider für mich einsehen, dass es sich nicht mehr lohnt. So bevorzuge ich leider sogar TK-Pizza.

Klein und Gemütlich, Pizza lecker und der Umfang der Pizza ist größer als der Teller. War ein schöner angenehmer Abend.

Wenn das die beste Pizza Bremens ist, sollte man in Bremen keine Pizza essen. Alleine geschäftlich in Bremen. Essen muss man, aber ein großes Menü soll es dann auch nicht sein. Das Don Camillo bietet laut Tripadvisor die beste Pizza Bremens, also hin. Das kleine Lokal ist bei Ankunft gut gefüllt, dennoch bekomme ich gleich einen Platz. Die Bedienung, die das ganze Restaurant alleine bedient ist flott und freundlich. Das sollte den ganzen Abend so bleiben und ist leider so ziemlich das einzig Positive, das ich über das Don Camillo sagen kann. Ok, das Restaurant ist zwar eng bestuhlt, aber halbwegs nett eingerichtet, das ist auch noch positiv. Im Restaurant hängt ein altes Schild, das für das italienische Moretti Bier wirbt. Auf der Karte steht aber Carlsberg, eine Marke, die ihr Geld bekanntlich lieber für das Sponsoring von großen Sportereignissen ausgibt, als für die Qualität seiner Produkte. Auf Nachfrage bot man mir noch Duckstein an, das ebenfalls auf der Karte steht und wie das Holsten alkoholfrei aus dem gleichen Konzern stammt. Es ist ja nicht selten, dass ein Restaurant sich an einen Getränkekonzern bindet, um etwas bessere Preise zu erhalten, aber in einem italienischen Restaurant möchte ich halt auch gerne ein italienisches Bier trinken, gerne auch gegen einen kleinen Aufpreis. Die Pizza kam recht schnell und war wie schon öfter beschrieben sehr groß, aber ansonsten eine herbe Enttäuschung. Viele mögen eine dünne Pizza mit knusprigem Rand, nur wird mit „neapolitanischer“ Pizza geworben, und damit hat das nun gar nichts zu tun!! Auf meiner Rrosciutto Fungi waren vier eher kleine rechteckige Stücke Formfleischschinken verteilt, die Mühe, diese zu teilen und auf der Pizza zu verteilen hat man sich nicht gemacht. Die Champignons waren immerhin frisch und im inneren Teil der Pizza in ausreichender Menge, am Rand nicht zu finden. Dafür gab es Käse und Käse und …. Käse. Ob auch Tomatensosse verwendet wurde kann ich nicht genau sagen, ich habe sie weder gesehen, noch geschmeckt. Beim Käse handelt es sich natürlich nicht um Mozarella (das habe ich auch nicht erwartet) sondern um einen billigen Käse, der mir bei dieser Menge auch nach einem 4 km Verdauungsspaziergang noch sehr schwer im Magen lag. Ich bin erst nachdem ich die Hälfte bereits gegessen hatte auf die Idee gekommen, dieses Disaster zu fotografieren, aber ich denke, man erkennt alles wichtige. Die Pizza kostete überigen 12,90 Euro Fazit: Wenn das Bremens beste Pizza ist, sollte man hier definitiv keine Pizza essen. Oder aber, ambitionierte Pizzabäcker, auf nach Bremen, hier scheint es eine Marktlücke zu geben.

Freundlicher Service, ordentliches Essen und eine gute Weinauswahl.

Ich kann mich den meisten Bewertungen nur anschließen. Sehr schönes Lokal mit freundlicher Bedienung und sehr leckeren authentischen Pizzen sowie super Pastagerichten!

Die Beste Pizza in Bremen aus meiner Sicht. Ein rustikal aber gemütlich kleines Restaurant in einer ruhigen Seitenstraße, welches mit Herzblut durch die Inhaberin geführt wird. Natürlich geht der Personalmangel aufgrund der Pandemie auch an diesem Restauranr nicht vorbei, aber bei einem Restaurantbesuch ist man ja nicht auf der Flucht.
