Don Camillo in Berlin

Vorweg - Preis/Leistung stimmt nicht! Viel Show, aber was danach kommt ist eher Mittelmaß. Eine Karte gab es wohl, die hing zumindest außen im Kasten. Innen fuhren dann ständig Wagen vor wo die Speisen "präsentiert" wurden, allerdings hinter Folie. Hygienisch vielleicht gut, aber wenig ansehnlich. Das was es zu essen gab, war durchschnittlich, gibt es anderswo deutlich besser und günstiger. Die Show mit der übergroßen Pfeffermühle ist auch schon in die Jahre gekommen. Teilweise wird am Tisch zubereitet - aber mein Lamm wurde mit einer Sauce die fertig aus der Küche kam am Ende "erschlagen".

Das lächerliche Herumfahren wit Wägelchen gibt es schon seit das Lokal eröffnet hat. Speisekarte/Preise wurden uns nicht gezeigt. Kleine Vorspeise - wirklich winzig vtello tonato -Lupe und schleimige geschmorte Radichio. Spaghetti - großer Haufen sehr al dente - dazu 3 bleiche Garnelen - ohne Sauce. Wurde extra nach Anforderung gekocht? Insgesamt über 100 Euro für 2 Vorspeisen, 2 Nudelgerichte und 2 Getränke. Die Fische, die auf dem Wagen lagen, gibts nur als Filet(Ha, Ha)

Highly recommended!!! We spent Valentine's Day in Berlin and the excellent food at Don Camillo was definitely the highlight. Without exception, our best restaurant experience since. Nice atmosphere in a cozy style. Very friendly staff, who turn out to be true artists of Italian cuisine when serving. The taste was a dream like I've never had before, even in Italy. Empty restaurant told me they were overbooked when asking for a table for 1 which was a bit of a surprise.. and certainly not visibly booked maybe they don't want single diners taking up spaces that could be for 2 but i would have preferred honesty vs what certainly appeared as a clear lie...

A small but soooo fine restaurant. The staff is really nice and attentive and the food is really incredibly good...for the soul and the palate. Highly recommended.

The food was very tasty. Unfortunately, after one glass from a white wine bottle, they tried to open a new one for us and couldn't remember it. With the third glass, a new bottle should be opened again, mind you for one person. The rest drank red wine. It didn't lift the mood. Ultimately there were 3 drinks too many on the bill. With hefty prices and we had antipasti, primo and secondi for 4 people, I think it's a real disgrace to still cheat the guests. There were Christmas parties next to us with twice as many people... who knows what they paid. Look at the bill! Too bad

Hier kann man gar keinen netten Abend verbringen, da man bei Online Buchung ohne Hinweis auf ein türkisches Restaurant umgelegt wird. Am Abend vor unserer Buchung erhielten wir eine Bestätigungs Email von diesem Restaurant. Bei Nachfrage im Don Camillo lag angeblich da keine Buchung vor. Sie fühlten sich nicht zuständig und haben uns keinen Tisch angeboten. Danke- wir kommen nicht mehr vorbei.

Es ist so unglaublich gut. Die verschiedenen Gerichte werden auf Tellern und Platten vorgestellt und erklärt. Top Küche und super Service.

We ate there for the second time this evening and absolutely loved it again! The food was wonderful and the service was great. The team at Don Camillo was completely convincing again! The whole ambience with the extraordinary selection/presentation of the food is a special experience. Unreservedly recommended!

Visitamos la noche antes de la maratón, ya que las críticas sugerían que nos garantizarían una buena comida y bien cocinada. Nos quedamos maravillados de la calidad de la comida. El servicio fue excelente. No es barato y sin menú - es difícil llevar un registro (supongo que siempre se puede comprobar el de fuera antes de entrar! ) pero nos encantó. Cada centavo fue bien gastado. Cuatro platos para dos con dos copas de vino fue de 180 €. Es un lugar clásico con carácter del que otros carecen y aunque es de buena calidad, el personal y el entorno te ponen a gusto. Relajado y sin embargo la atención al detalle en el menú, cocina, presentación y servicio. Muy recomendable!

Leider werden Kinder und Jugendliche , die vorbeilaufen immer wieder von den Mitarbeitern die vor der Küche / Eingang auf der Straße stehen ( Pause machen , Rauchen usw.) auf‘s übelste angemacht , hinterher gepfiffen und unangemessen behandelt. Attentive service. Food / selection good. However, the food is significantly overpriced (price performance is not right). It's nice to sit in the summer garden. Would rather choose another restaurant due to the prices being too high.

We went to Don Camillo last night because we live nearby and have wanted to try it out for a long time. We cannot recommend it because the service was understaffed and seemed overwhelmed by the restaurant concept: the current selection is presented on a trolley for each course - but then you are dependent from course to course on the fact that a course is not presented at another table at the same time or is prepared. As a result, ordering drinks was very slow, our aperitif arrived immediately, but we had to order every water and wine several times because it had been forgotten in the meantime. The starters were very tasty (bresaola, celery), the pasta with salsiccia was very oversalted and was served new, but was still very, very salty (and to be fair, was not charged for). The pasta with gamba and scallop was bland in a very creamy sauce. The lamb fillet as the main course was prepared at the table and was okay, the veal fillet with caper sauce was also very salty, but the meat was of very good quality. What bothered us the most was the very tense atmosphere in the team and the head waiter/owner reprimanding or belittling other team members in front of guests. You had the feeling that waiters were rushing around the outside area with trolleys all evening long. Since the ordering process took a very long time and we ended up having to wait 30 minutes for someone to create our invoice, we spent three hours of a rather relaxed evening on a normal working day and ended up paying +180 euros for the two of us - for the quality of each one Products including wine are okay, but not for the quality of the service and the food. Charlottenburg offers a variety of very good Italian restaurants - we cannot understand the good reviews here.

I've loved going to Don Camillo ever since I was a little boy. The service works a lot with the guests, cooks there, creates a spectacle and ensures that you don't get bored at the right moments. Classic service as you know it from before. But only in the really good restaurants. All I can say about the food itself is that the quality is always very good. However, the recipes are always the same. So you go here to fall in love with certain dishes and want to taste them again. When it comes to the pasta, you can tell that everything is handmade and always tastes excellent. Just like the sauces that go with it, they are deep but simply seasoned to the point. I just love this restaurant, it has largely influenced me when it comes to Italian cuisine.

Cozy restaurant, warm atmosphere

Troppo troppo caro, anche per gli standard di Berlino! Abbiamo preso due contorni, due primi, due secondi, e il dolce. Tutto ciò ad un prezzo astronomico!!!!

Nach einer Enttäuschung am Vorabend waren wir mal wieder im Don Camillo , alleine das Konzept alle Speisen am Tisch zu erklären macht schon Appetit und die Erwartungen sind groß ,hier wurden wir nicht enttäuscht alle Speisen auf sehr hohem Niveau auf den Punkt gegart ,die Seezunge war einfach wunderbar und auch die Kalbsleber war geschmacklich eine Sensation, hier ist vom Service bis zum Dessert alles vom Feisten und sehr zu empfehlen .

Went there again after a good 20 years and immediately recognized it. The food is still fantastic, the service is simply amazing and the atmosphere is modern but still very cozy. We will be back soon, not in 20 years.

Lockere Atmosphäre, super Service, jeder Gang wird am Tisch präsentiert, seien es die verschiedenen hausgemachten Pastas, Fischsorten oder die diversen Nachspeisen, geschmacklich perfekt, für die Qualität gutes Preis/ Leistungsverhältnis, schöne Lage in der Nähe des Charlottenburger Schlosses, im Sommer schöner Garten, kommen gerne wieder.

Very good restaurant with great food. Gluten-free bread was spontaneously baked for us and pasta as a snack also worked as they had gluten-free pasta. Very good service and the price/performance level is great. Thank you for such a lovely evening. We'd love to come back.

Tweede jaar op rij wezen eten. Eerste keer was indrukwekkend hoe lekker het was en de tweede keer was zeker net zo goed. Mensen die er werken kan je heel leuk mee praten, voelt net of je bij je vrienden kom eten. Service en kwaliteit van het eten maakt het voor mij een van de beste restaurant belevingen die je kan hebben.

I called Thursday an hour in advance to see if there was still a table available. There were very few people there so we got a nice table by the window. After our jackets were taken away, we immediately asked for an aperitif. The port wine is recommended, very tasty and sweet. Plus a bottle of seltzer. For each course there is a serving trolley where the currently offered dishes are presented on plates. Once the selection has been made, depending on the dish, it is prepared at the table or in the kitchen. In my case the lamb was prepared at the table. And it was perfect. Afterwards we were able to taste a selection of desserts. There is no comparison to other restaurants, they use much less sugar, but they should not be underestimated. The staff was polite and courteous at all times. There will definitely be a reunion, thank you for the wonderful evening.

I'll keep it short: it was the best restaurant visit we've had in a long time...and we go out to eat often. Great team - attentive, unobtrusive, excellently trained. The menu is very special: it is "read out" to the guest while the fresh dishes such as meat, fish, pasta are presented - as are the starters and desserts - all on a "themed buffet" that is pushed to the table - sensational. No wish remained unfulfilled. Excellent value for money. Here, a visit to the restaurant becomes a special kind of experience that lasts for a long time. Thank you! See you next time. Certainly!!!

Ich bin nach über 20 Jahren wieder im Restaurant Don Camillo gewesen und ich bin überglücklich dass es dieses Restaurant geschafft hat diese Qualität in jeder Hinsicht auf diesem unfassbar hohen Niveau zu halten, ich wollte meiner Tochter etwas besonderes bieten, was dann auch geschehen ist. Gratuliere der ganzen Mannschaft zu dieser Leistung.

Update Mai 2023 Auch auf der schönen Terrasse hat die Seezunge fantastisch geschmeckt. Das Don Camillo ist ein schönes Restaurant mit einer genauso schönen Sommerterrasse, mit einer langen Tradition und einem tollen Konzept. Die Speisen werden auf einem Servierwagen präsentiert und erläutert. Natürlich kann man sich auch die Menükarte anschauen.. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, auch wenn das Restaurant ausgebucht ist bleibt kein Brotkorb und auch kein Weinglas leer. Die Tische sind innen und im Außenbereich sehr schön gedeckt, Stofftischdecken, Stoffservietten, hochwertiges Besteck und Tafelgeschirr sind hier selbstverständlich. Zuerst wurde ein Brotkorb und eingelegte Oliven gereicht. Dann kam auch schon der Wagen mit den Vorspeisen. Ich habe mich für Bresaola mit Olivenöl und Parmesan Raspeln entschieden, ein leichtes und leckeres Gericht. Es folgte ein Nudelgericht als Zwischengang: Pasta Nero mit Garnelen und Jakobsmuschel und einer feinen Garnelen Soße. Die Pasta war al dente und köstlich. Als Hauptgang sollten es Großgarnelen sein. Sie wurden am Tisch flambiert und waren auf dem Punkt gebraten dazu gab es ein eine kleine Gemüse Beilage. Als Nachspeise habe ich mich für die berühmten Don Camillo Erdbeeren mit Senf und Balsamico Essig und einer Kugel Vanilleeis entschieden, sie wurden meisterhaft am Tisch zubereitet und waren einfach lecker. Es war ein sehr schöner Abend mit leckeren Speisen und Weine und einem hervorragenden und charmanten Service. Da das Don Camillo über die Stadtgrenzen bekannt und zu recht sehr beliebt ist, ist eine Tischreservierung empfehlenswert. Fotos Update 26.12.2022

Aus Frankfurt angereist und Sterneküche gewohnt, aber dieses Restaurant hat wirklich für Begeisterung gesorgt! Ein absolutes Erlebnis und mehr als zu empfehlen!

Hervorragendes Restaurant. Schön eingedeckt. Der Kellner bringt die mögliche Auswahl jeden Ganges an den Tisch. Beste Qualität alles Zutaten. Hervorragend die Auswahl auch an begleitenden Wein. Speisen auf hohen Niveau zubereitet und präsentiert. Die besten Nudeln die je gegessen habe. Service manchmal etwas zurückhaltend, alles in allem aber gut. Wenn man einen besonderen Abend haben möchte - dann hier.

A place with a long history and a interesting concept of choosing your dishes after they have been presented by the waiters. Plenty of friendly service personnel and a little extravaganza when they prepare dishes tableside. Very nice food, especially the homemade pasta and seafood selection. Recommended.

First thing's first: Don Camillo is *not* fast food. Everything they create is lovingly hand-crafted, made to order, and changing as the day and ingredients change. There's no menu. A server tells you the options of the day for antipasti, pasta, meat/fish, and dessert. My fiancé and I came here on a whim after a long day of sight seeing. We spent all night in the garden, eating together, enjoying each other company, savoring each bite. Honestly the best date night of my entire life. Only come here of you have time to spend for an extravagant experience.

Ich habe den Tisch online reserviert, hatte den Eindruck hat nicht geklappt! Kleiner enger Tisch, wenig Platz zum hinsetzen, Restaurant sehr voll, dadurch laut und ziemlich warm. Service gut, viel Personal da. Die Speisen sucht man am Tisch vom Wagen aus und manche Speisen werden vor einem zubereitet. Essen war gut, habe aber schon besser gegessen und vom Pastateller als Hauptspeise vom Kellner lecker zusammen gestellt, hätte ich mehr Vielfalt erwartet, besser selber aussuchen was man möchte. Das Tiramisu fand ich nicht gut, zu viel Sahne und zu wenig Mascarpone, das Café Parfait hat mir geschmeckt.

Eigentlich möchte ich gar nicht so einen guten Bewertung abgeben, damit dieser Laden nicht so überrannt wird, aber es bleibt mir nichts anderes übrig. Wir hätten es ja nicht geahnt, wenn wir es nicht selbst erlebt hätten. Hier gibt es keine Speisekarte auf Papier, sondern die Gerichte werden vom Service am Tisch erklärt und man kann zwischen vielen köstlichen Speisen wählen. Es ist ein kulinarisches Feuerwerk. Die Mitarbeiter legen sich ordentlich ins Zeug, die Stimmung ist einfach nur super und wir waren definitiv nicht das letzte Mal hier. Danke!!!
