We were there today for the first time because of the good reviews and unfortunately for the last time. The restaurant itself is quite nice and the food was also ok, but we were unlucky when it came to allocating the table and unfortunately we also had to leave quite abruptly because our little daughter wasn't feeling well and was crying a lot. Since we didn't want to disturb the other guests, we asked to pay immediately and pack the food. Our three dishes then came back in a box. When we asked if that was really all, we were told that the boxes were very large. At home we noticed that all the side dishes and half of the starter plate (dips, vegetables) were missing. Therefore, we could no longer enjoy the meal at home and it was an expensive evening with a bad outcome. Very unfortunate.

I have been coming here regularly as a tourist for years. And it's always super friendly with the customers and I enjoy being here. The food is good and always cheeky and always of very high quality, very friendly staff and very good dealings with the guests adapt to all the guests' wishes. Only recommended

During our weekend trip to Hamburg we became aware of the tavern while looking for a Greek restaurant and we were not disappointed. Absolute recommendation! Super friendly service. The bifteki filled with sheep's cheese is a poem, as is the grilled feta and the pointed peppers at the front. The calamari is super fresh and delicious! A reservation is recommended. On the second evening we spontaneously went without a reservation and had to do a short extra lap until a table became available, but that wasn't a problem! We'll be back on our next visit to Hamburg because even a 6-hour journey is worth it.

The only deduction is the ambience because it was a bit small and cramped for the number of guests there, so we initially shared a table with a strange couple despite having a reservation. But the rush may be due to Valentine's Day and isn't that bad. Overall, really highly recommended!

★★★★★ A little bit of Greece in Hamburg We arrived quite late (around 9:30 p.m.), just before the restaurant closed, but were still incredibly warmly welcomed. The atmosphere in 'Die Taverne' is cozy and friendly - you immediately feel at home. We arrived completely cold and were given an ouzo to warm up. The advice on the choice of food was excellent and we chose the dish of the day, Kokkinisto with rice noodles, and the gyros with Metaxa sauce. Both dishes were excellent: well prepared, aromatic and perfectly seasoned. There was also an incredibly delicious aioli as a starter. Particularly noteworthy is the exceptional service. The service was very attentive without being intrusive and always in a good mood. And to top it all off, there was an ouzo – so you really feel welcome! A wonderful Greek restaurant with great food, great service and an atmosphere that makes you want to return. We'll definitely be back!

Best gyro I've had in a long time

It was our first time in the tavern. Reserved a table at short notice by phone. Very nice everyone. The food is delicious. I had the gyros and suflaki...really good. I tried Bifteki from my friend's plate... also very tasty. Well seasoned. First of all we had the saganaki in breading... delicious starter, a bit strong in taste, but still good. I didn't like the salad decoration.... rocket was already completely dry and wilted, no cucumber or tomato... which would have been perfect with it. The welcome was very warm, many regular guests... End of quote....we are close again....the tavern is definitely a must.

Excellent atmosphere and great food. We came over spontaneously with an international group of twelve people and they immediately made room for us. We were served very quickly and the food came to the table hot in about 10 minutes. Pleasant music and ambience rounded off the experience! Definitely happy to come back 😊

I recently went to the Greek restaurant “Die Taverne” in Hamburg and can only warmly recommend it. The food was simply fresh, authentic and very tasteful. I particularly enjoyed the moussaka and grilled fish, which were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cozy and inviting, and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. You immediately feel welcome. Overall, a thoroughly successful visit, I'll definitely be back!

Review of "Die Taverne" "Die Taverne" has a cozy and relaxed atmosphere, making it a pleasant place for a casual meal. The Saganaki and Jemista were fine, but the flavors were milder than I had hoped for, lacking the vibrancy typically associated with Greek cuisine. The staff was friendly, but the service could have been better. Our glasses were empty for quite a while, and no one checked to see if we wanted more drinks, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, "Die Taverne" is a nice spot with potential, but I’d hoped for more flavor and attentiveness to make the experience truly enjoyable.

There were five of us here because reservations were no longer possible elsewhere. We had a variety of dishes and were all thrilled. Lamb, gyros, souvlaki, everything was great. Plus a great tzatziki and a real coleslaw as a starter. The best Greek in the area. We'll be back.

This is a great place and great staff! We came late in the evening and they already closed the restaurant, but they saw us waiting hungry outside and opened again just for us! The service and food was great, can only recommend this place!

I can only recommend this tavern. The food is a 9 out of 10. We were with slightly larger groups and still got the food in less than 25 minutes. I was allowed to try something from others and everyone enjoyed it. Small shop, mega big experience.

We had dinner here this evening and absolutely loved it! I tried the lamb fillet with red wine sauce - perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. My partner had the seafood platter, which was not only fresh but also very lovingly prepared. The homemade wine was the perfect complement to our meal. The ambience and service were also top notch. We'll definitely be back!

Small inconspicuous restaurant, but great taste. The Greek restaurant "The Tavern" looks very inconspicuous from the outside, but in the nice room the service is to the point. The starter was convincing and perfectly set the mood for the main course. The gyros were crispy and the bifteki was juicy. The only downer: there could have been more tzatziki. But this is complaining at the highest level.

Food was super tasty. We each had a starter (liver) and a grilled plate as the main course... Overall, it was a nice evening... With a cozy atmosphere in the restaurant. Toller Grieche! Die Speisen und die Getränke waren sehr lecker. Vor allem das Gyros war einsame Spitze. Der Hauswein weiß ist sehr empfehlenswert. Das Brot, welches zu Beginn gereicht wurde, selbst gebacken, war spitze. Zaziki und Aioli waren ebenfalls sehr gut. Auch der Ouzo vor und nach dem Essen war sehr lecker. Die Bedienung war - trotz vollem Haus - freundlich und sehr schnell. Preisleistung top.
