Sehr gutes Essen ,netter Biergarten , sehr freundliche Menschen, alles in allem sehr zu empfehlen

Gut besucht, dadurch sehr laut. Johannisbeerschorle 5,50€, Premiere. Der Flammkuchen war gut, den Cappuccino habe ich reklamiert: Auch meine beiden Sitznachbarinnen meinten, viel zu dünn, kaum Milchschaum. Netterweise kam Ersatz, der aber nicht besser war. Toller Pfingsrosenstrauß im Eingangsbereich!

Die Hotelzimmer in der Alten Schmelz sind wirklich super cool eingerichtet und total gemütlich. Besonders das bequeme Bett und das moderne Badezimmer haben mir richtig gut gefallen, alles war absolut sauber. Ich kann eine Übernachtung hier jedem empfehlen, der ein paar entspannte Tage in Rheinlandpfalz verbringen möchte.

Gut besucht und mit einem schönen Outdoor-Bereich; Schnitzel Wiener Art und Winzersteck waren wirklich lecker.

Wir haben hier als Familie mit zwei kleinen Kindern eine Nacht als Zwischenstopp auf einer längeren Reise verbracht und waren rundum begeistert. Wir hatten das Deluxe-Doppelzimmer im Dachgeschoss (Zimmer 10), welches super modern und wirklich sehr schön eingerichtet ist. Uns wurden zusätzlich zwei Klappbetten zur Verfügung gestellt, die wir einfach zusammengeschoben haben – das hat perfekt geklappt. Die Inhaberin hat uns herzlich empfangen. Da die Kinder nach der langen Autofahrt verständlicherweise sehr aufgedreht waren, wollten wir den anderen Gästen im Restaurant einen unruhigen Abend ersparen. Das war überhaupt kein Problem! Uns wurde das Essen sogar aufs Zimmer gebracht – ein fantastischer Service, der uns den Abend gerettet hat. Das Frühstück heute war ebenfalls außerordentlich lecker und bot eine tolle, große Auswahl. Von der Bundesstraße haben wir übrigens überhaupt nichts mitbekommen (wir haben allerdings mit geschlossenem Fenster geschlafen). Vielen Dank für den tollen Aufenthalt!

Wir möchten uns herzlich für die freundliche und einfühlsame Betreuung bedanken. Nach der Trauerfeier meiner Mutter durften wir bei Ihnen zusammenkommen und haben uns, trotz des traurigen Anlasses, sehr wohl und gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Das gesamte Team hat sich aufmerksam und herzlich um uns gekümmert. Der Service war ausgezeichnet und das Essen hervorragend. Vielen Dank für die warme, würdevolle Atmosphäre und die liebevolle Begleitung an diesem besonderen Tag.

Wir waren nur zu Kaffee und Kuchen. Der Kuchen war zu Tode gekühlt. Jegliches Aroma weg und der Käsekuchen war dadurch extrem fest. Hat die Bedienung aber nicht weiter interessiert, nachdem wir es ihr sagte .

Waren mit 6 Personen dort, alle waren rundum zufrieden. Das Essen war sehr gut. Das Personal sehr fruendlich und aufmerksam.

Ich wundere mich über diesen positiven Bewertungen. Wir sind für Kaffee und Kuchen eingekehrt. Kaffee kam aber Kuchen wurde einfach vergessen 😁. Wir mussten voll lange warten im großen und ganzen waren wir sehr enttäuscht. Kaffee hat nicht geschmeckt, Cappuccino war furchtbar nicht zu genießen. Und keine Entschuldigung wegen dem Kuchen der vergessen wurde.

Ich habe dort meinen Geburtstag gefeiert. Wir waren ca. 30 Personen. Meine Wünsche für das Menü wurden perfekt erfüllt. Das Essen war sehr gut und gut bekömmlich. Der Service war aufmerksam, freundlich und zurückhaltend. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Einige Gäste und ich haben auch dort übernachtet. Wir waren alle sehr zufrieden mit den Zimmern und freuten uns am nächsten Tag über ein vortreffliches Frühstücksbuffet.

Wir waren am Samstag dort essen. Sehr schön u geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Restaurant. Das Essen kam leider zu schnell. Mein Wein war noch nicht da, da kam schon die Suppe. Kenn ich sonst nur vom Griechen so. Beim Hauptgang dann ebenso. Tipp, lasst euch mehr Zeit zwischen den Gängen. Das essen war sehr gut.

Das Essen und alle Zutaten waren außergewöhnlich fein abgeschmeckt und punktgenau auf den gegart.

Schnelle, freundlicher Service. Gute Qualität (Rumpsteak mit Bratkartoffeln).

Update zur „Alte Schmelz“ Gestern sind wir dort wieder eingekehrt zum Essen. Was die Speisekarte betrifft, so dürfte für jeden Geschmack was dabei sein. Was mir nicht gefallen hat, dass es bei den Hauptgerichten nicht dabei steht, welche Beilagen dazu serviert werden und dass Salat extra bestellt werden muss 🤷‍♂️ Das könnte man auf der Karte entsprechend ändern, denn die Preise haben sich doch sehr nach oben bewegt.

Wir haben auf unserer Reise in die Niederlande hier eine Nacht verbracht. Das Zimmer war sehr schön und die Betten bequem. Das Abendessen war ausgezeichnet und der Service hervorragend. Sogar das Frühstück stand schon im Kühlschrank bereit, sodass wir früh aufbrechen konnten – fantastisch!

Weihnachtsessen am 26.11.25 zu teuer und die Portionen waren für den Preis einfach lächerlich. Wir sind oft in der Alten Schmelz aber das war das letzte Mal.

Schönes Restaurant, geschmackvolle Speisen und die Preise sind für diese Qualität in Ordnung.

Wir haben hier auf Durchreise übernachtet und gerade ein exzellentes Frühstück genossen. Ursprünglich wollten wir auch zu Abend essen gestern wegen der tollen Bewertungen, aber sind leider zu spät angereist wegen Stau. Schade! Hier stimmt alles. Saubere, neu renovierte Zimmer, geschmackvolle Einrichtung, exzellentes Essen und Service. Sogar die Schlafcouch für unsere beiden Kinder war super bequem und Frau Brand eine exzellente Gastgeberin. Es war auch weit und breit das beste Preis-/ Leistungsverhältnis für eine Übernachtung mit 4-köpfiger Familie. 100% Empfehlung!

A little gem in the Palatinate Forest. Anyone who remembers this place as a tourist trap for busloads of visitors decades ago is completely mistaken. A fantastic, modern restaurant with a tasteful ambiance. Elegant, in keeping with the region, without being pretentious. We were there for the goose dinner. The restaurant was packed, yet the service was excellent. It was wonderful that the goose for four, plus two breasts and two legs, could be arranged on a beautiful platter. Absolutely delicious, including the desserts. Excellent value for money. We'll definitely be back!

We always enjoy being guests at this establishment; the service is attentive and friendly, and the food is very good at a fair price. Reservations are recommended.

Delicious food, friendly and excellent service.

I was on a hiking trip and only drank wine at Schobbe, so I can't say anything about the food. But they had pork knuckle, Spätzle, and red cabbage, and the people around me said it tasted good. The service was great, and I liked the atmosphere too. We'll definitely go there for a meal sometime.

A very good restaurant for a day trip.

We were here with a larger group of about 35 people. It was a bit chaotic at first until all the food and drinks were consumed, but after that, everything was fine. The food was excellent; I've never had such a good schnitzel, and the coffee was delicious too. Great surroundings, surrounded by nature, with a modern yet rustic atmosphere. If I'm in the area, I'd love to come back 😊

Very nice interior. The staff was very friendly. The Wiener schnitzel was unfortunately dry. Price with fries: €16.50. You could add a salad (which was very good) for €6.50.

A very tastefully renovated inn (restaurant and hotel). We stopped here for dinner after a scenic drive. The food was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive. Had the weather cooperated, there would have been lovely outdoor seating. We'll be back.

The hosts are very friendly and exude a family atmosphere. Unfortunately, my winemaker's steak was tough. The dining room is tastefully decorated, but unfortunately, they forgot to insulate during the renovation. It's very loud.

We love sitting here, relaxing outside in the middle of the green lawn, enjoying a Riesling spritzer and delicious food. But the interior, in the superbly renovated dining area, is also very nice. It's a 30-km drive, but we'd love to come back...

Wow, what portions! Anything you overeat can be taken home. Everything is delicious, the service is excellent, nothing was too much for the young man; he was very friendly and helpful.

Only rating the food. Choose it randomly as a stopover, did everything right. Nice, secluded beer garden with good food. I had the cordon bleu, but for the price, I wasn't impressed, so I deducted 1 star. The youngest had schnitzel and fries. Upon request, we were given four small sachets of ketchup, which could have been better... Otherwise, you can eat decently here.

We were there for dinner. The restaurant, idyllically situated in the forest, was bright, welcoming, stylish, clean, and very well-maintained. The service was very friendly and attentive, asking if guests needed anything else. The food was absolutely fantastic. Everything was fresh, the salads were crisp, the dressing was excellent, and the meat was of good quality. The dessert was also top-notch. Good value for money, and the portions were just right. Unfortunately, we cannot agree with the positive reviews. We arrived on a Monday in pouring rain by bike. Unfortunately, no one was there that day, so we could only gain entry using a code we had been given in advance. Everything seemed very gloomy and deserted, making a friendly welcome anything but pleasant. The room was nicely furnished and clean. However, using the built-in kitchen would have required an additional charge. Unfortunately, the room and the house were very stuffy and poorly air-conditioned. The next morning, breakfast was served, which we believe could have been improved considerably. Photos can be very misleading. What bothered us most as cyclists was the fact that there was no storage space for our bikes, and one of our e-bikes was no longer usable after the storm. It's a shame that the bus stop by the house only runs once a day at 6:58 a.m. during the week, but the landlady seems to have been unaware of this. The location of the accommodation is also not recommended, as it is quite far outside of Bad Dürkheim. Additionally, there's no elevator in the building, so you'll have to use muscle power to carry heavy luggage upstairs. Unfortunately, we definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially for cyclists!

We were passing through and stayed overnight. A bit hidden and rather inconspicuous from the outside, but the inside is ultra-modern, clean, and comfortable. The lovely owner makes our stay truly pleasant. Anyone looking for a personal touch will immediately feel at home here.

The location is nice, the service is friendly and fast. But a mediocre Cordon Bleu with a handful of fries without any sauce or ketchup for €22.50 is a disgrace.

Super friendly Great service The owner is very nice, even if you're just looking for shelter from the rain. The restaurant has been newly renovated with great attention to detail. The interior is bright and welcoming, like everything else. All in all, it's truly where the fox and the hare still say goodnight to each other.

I don't know how many times we've driven past this inn. The thought of going in never once occurred to us. It's strange. Recently, by chance, we reserved a table there. The Alte Schmelz is located in the middle of the forest on the road to Kaiserslautern. The large parking lot opposite has plenty of room. The dining room is large and bright. The decor is quite modern. We received a friendly welcome and, moreover, very attentive service throughout our entire stay. The menu is certainly impressive. We chose roulades and rump steak. Then a small dessert. The roulades were fantastic. Grandma couldn't have done it better. And the rump steak was also top notch. Great! The restrooms are very modern and clean. We had a lovely time and won't be driving past the Alte Schmelz so often in the future.

We, my wife and I, had dinner in the "Alte Schmelz" on Saturday evening. Almost all tables were fully occupied and two people in service, a lady and a gentleman, had everything well under control and under control. I had the winemaker's steak with fried potatoes, my wife had the schnitzel with mushroom sauce. We enjoyed both very much, the homemade and freshly prepared fried potatoes were a dream. Plus the freshly tapped Bayreuther light, simply brilliant. Thank you for the nice and attentive service, it was a lovely evening with you!

As children we were already in the “Alte Schmelz”. Now after the renovation, the guest room and super nice rooms in the middle of the forest are mega nice.

There is very, very good food in a super nice atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food... absolutely delicious and fresh. 5 stars for the chef. Price-performance is right. What I personally thought was really great was that we had no cell phone reception there. This meant we could eat in peace and chat. Always happy.

We are a group of 7 people and were there in October this year. there for coffee and dinner. We also ordered 1 double room. The reservation was made in May of this year and was confirmed by an employee. He also confirmed that we could stay longer than 9 p.m., contrary to the normal opening time. The room reservation was canceled some time later by the boss and replaced with a “maybe”. Ultimately, staying overnight was not possible at all. To eat: The choice of cake was limited to 1, of the “loveless” variety. Dinner was Palatinate cuisine, but altered beyond recognition. The portions were small, but the price was even higher. At 9:00 p.m. sharp, we and the other guests were shown the door, contrary to our original promise, even though a larger group was still partying hard in the next room. I have never been so fooled by a restaurant. No excuse - nothing. The only plus point: the friendly and courteous service.

Despite the painful occasion, I am very impressed. Throughout the planning, the organization and the mourning, I always had the feeling that I was in good hands here. I wouldn't have to worry about something not being the way we wanted it to be. The communication was perfect at all times. The tables were decorated to match the occasion. What is not mentioned: Between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. there is only tarte flambée... We wanted to be a guest around 3 p.m. because of the otherwise good rating and were therefore very disappointed.

Delicious St. Martin's goose and a 🔝 black Riesling

I stayed here at the hotel for three days because I had a sports training nearby. The rooms are lovingly furnished and very clean. Due to the training, I had to eat before normal breakfast times. My breakfast was put together here the evening before and brought to my room so that I could eat my breakfast at any time. The selection is definitely sufficient. Lunch or dinner is also highly recommended. The staff is very friendly and attentive! Gladly again at any time!!!

Yesterday, at least 10 years apart, I was once again in the old Schmelz - we were hosting a mourning café. Very successful renovation, the rooms are bright and clean, neat furniture, beautifully decorated and not overloaded. The service was friendly and present; The food and drinks on offer were consistently of good quality. All agreements (whether by telephone or email) were adhered to. We would like to stop there for lunch with the family soon. Keep it up!

Very nice restaurant with good quality food. 3 stars only because of the poor noise insulation. The restaurant was very busy and therefore extremely loud. Although there were only four of us at the table, conversation was only possible with an excessively loud voice. This of course worsened the situation. We had already pointed out what we thought was a problem during a previous visit. Unfortunately there has been no improvement. So we probably won't visit the restaurant again. It's a shame, but it's just too loud for us.

After always being able to enjoy delicious dishes during our visits, we celebrated our wedding in the Alte Schmelz in September. The Brand family and employees absolutely understand how to organize a celebration. From the menu cards to the decoration, my bridal bouquet, the perfect service and the delicious menu to the cake buffet. Everything was great and our day was made even better. Really beautiful, newly renovated and modernized and very tastefully furnished accommodation that leaves nothing to be desired. We enjoyed the delicious and varied fresh breakfast including fruit, coffee and orange juice as well as rolls and fresh bread.

We were only there for one night with an MTB group, but we still enjoyed the full service (thanks again for the special parking space 😉). In short: super friendly staff, delicious food, great location.

Dear Ms. Brand, It's certainly all well and good with you. Only. Salad is traditionally included with schnitzel and fries. Charging an additional €5.60 for a side salad is not correct.

When you're outside, everything is certainly fine. When it rains, there is an unbearable level of noise inside when it's crowded and everyone is talking. They forgot to install a soundproof blanket or something similar, so that at the moment you can't understand your own words and can hardly have a conversation. Food is good, staff friendly.

Delicious. You can sit beautifully in the garden. The service was friendly. Unfortunately the service gentleman was very slow and uncoordinated. He seemed very confused and we had to wait a long time for everything. The sauce for my meal didn't arrive until 10 minutes after the rest of the dish. Ordering a drink took 30 minutes. Unfortunately, we didn't order any drinks or dessert. There was also a lot going on at mealtime. You can understand why it all takes a little longer. But later there wasn't much going on. Maybe the gentleman was new or was a temporary worker in this service area, as it was a special day that is not actually open.

Have eaten here a total of 3 times as part of motorcycle day tours, as the "Alte Schmelz" is located directly along the popular route around Bad Dürkheim. The dishes were always excellent, especially the Palatinate cuisine. Some of the seasonal dishes offered were always very varied and tasty, and also beautifully presented. The renovated interiors are modern with many beautiful details. You can tell that emphasis was placed on the overall concept here. We would like to come again!

Located on the federal highway from Kaiserslautern to Bad Dürkheim, you will find a pleasant inn here. The atmosphere is pleasantly friendly and modern. Service and kitchen do their best. The menu is pleasantly manageable and offers hearty cuisine. In summer the beer garden is definitely a highlight.

I ordered a banquet for a funeral service from the "Alte Schmelz" and was more than satisfied. The food was excellent, the service was very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was appropriate for the occasion. Booking the banquet in advance was also completely unproblematic and very pragmatic. A clear recommendation from me :-)

Despite recently completed conversion and renovation work, there is still a rustic and pleasant atmosphere. Very nice staff. Flexible and helpful when it comes to reservations or alternatives. Manageable menu, but well selected. Food is super tasty. We enjoy coming here and always feel welcome.
