Eaten well, drank well, served nicely. What more could you want?

It's not like it used to be, unfortunately the food wasn't hot anymore, but the prices were good. If you're hungry you should have an appetizer, the ambience was a bit dusty overall, the service was first class, the drinks were ok too, but all in all, well, do it even a picture

Nice ambience. Delicious food in large portions. Very nice and above all fast service; an attentive young man. There is a large parking lot right next to it for added mobility. Prices: not cheap, but overall reasonable. I thought it was very nice that the menu included information about the right Palatinate wine. Five stars for local patriotism (in a good sense).

Great ambience - the rest is ok

Food was great. The waitresses were nice even though it was quite busy and they were under constant stress. We were in the barrel at the entrance. Which makes ordering or paying quite difficult as you can easily be forgotten there🤣

Very rustically furnished, very friendly staff, the food comes very quickly, the portions are very large and it is very tasty. The prices are not overpriced. I can only recommend it.

A great trip to Bad Dürkheim and a very pleasant coincidence that we got a place here on Sunday afternoon without a reservation☺️ Nice home cooking. Large, good portions, it is possible to order a smaller portion straight away. Price-performance is absolutely right, the dishes are not overpriced, although the location and tourism are certainly there for it. The service was very attentive. The whole restaurant is very nicely laid out. There is a changing table, but unfortunately it is not really barrier-free due to the many steps and the narrowness. We were there with a stroller, dog and friends, ate so well that we were able to go home happy and that certainly wasn't the last time. We would love to come back

While waiting for a table I was refused access to the toilet and not in a very friendly way. This is how you successfully scare away guests.

We only went for a quick snack at lunchtime (bratwurst, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes). Since we were only there after 2 p.m., we got a seat straight away. But it could definitely be difficult at lunchtime or in the evening. The food was good. You have to see everything a little pragmatically. If you have to cook for up to 600 people, it can't be a gourmet meal. But the food was good for us. The restaurant is very cozy. It must be clear to you that only a handful of people can eat in the barrel itself. But that has no bearing on the fact that the atmosphere is very cozy everywhere. I would also like to mention that the service was very friendly and prompt. I think the restaurant simply belongs to the German wine route. A visit is an absolute must.

Unfortunately, despite the seating outside, it was not possible to get a drink. Not even with self-service. We wanted to have a quick drink with our expensive bikes and move on. Weak service

Durkheim's Giant Barrel is a tourist temple on the painted site "In the Heart of the Wine Road". It was designed and implemented by the local winery owner and cooper Fritz Keller in the 1930s. Dimensions ~: diameter 15 m, length 15 m, volume 1.5 megaliters, accommodates 150 visitors.

You simply have to be here in Bad Dürkheim! We hadn't made a reservation, but spontaneously got a table for two people. Staff, food and drinks get a full five stars! I would go here again at any time!

This place has such a great vibe, and eating dinner inside a “barrel” was a fun experience. The service was top notch… our weight spoke English and was super attentive to our every need. The food was great, and the restaurant was immaculate. Definitely arrive early, because this place fills up very quickly after opening. And call well in advance (days or weeks) if you do wish to sit inside one of the barrels. I would go back, for sure.

Das Riesenfaß gehört zu Bad Dürkheim wie der Dotter zum Ei. Es ist, wie der Name schon sagt, ist ein fassförmiges Gebäude. Es besitzt bei einem Durchmesser von 13,5 m ein Volumen von etwa 1.700.000 Litern und ist damit das größte Fass der Welt. Allerdings diente es nicht der Aufbewahrung von Flüssigkeiten sondern beherbergt von je her eine Gaststätte. Gebaut wurde es um 1934 aus insgesamt rund 200 m3 Holz aus dem Schwarzwald. Wer Bad Dürkheim Besucht, sollte sich unbedingt auch dieses Faß ansehen; es lohnt sich. Parken kann man übrigens direkt vor dem Faß; 3 Stunden sind dabei kostenfrei.

I can't rate the food, we just had something to drink. But what came out of the kitchen looked good and smelled delicious

Food is pre-cooked....was served immediately after ordering. Fried potatoes still raw and pork fillet with sauce without taste. 26.50 euros desserts on the house... frozen goods... boss wanted to take the bill... but I paid. Is totally set up for coaches. Service was very nice. But never again...there are wonderful restaurants nearby that prepare the food fresh.

The barrel itself is no longer a restaurant, but you can book a tour with the city. All that remains to evaluate is the external appearance.

We wanted to see the inside of the barrel and have some food in the barrel. Unfortunately, this is no longer possible. A barrel viewing is only possible with a pre-booked sightseeing tour with admission tickets. There is no longer a restaurant directly in the barrel. The attached restaurant was very full and loud when we visited, so we didn't feel like it.

If the Palz is Palatinate, then here. Barrier-free access to the cozy restaurant. We had Palatinate dishes and a spritzer 🤤 Great service and reasonable prices. We always enjoy coming here. Many thanks to the entire team 🙏 Your palatinator 😎🎶

On weekends we strongly recommend that you reserve a table. Otherwise it could happen that you don't get a place because everything is fully booked.

Beautiful but restaurant less so

After calling several times to make a reservation, I couldn't be reached over several days, then on site staff were fully booked days in advance so they didn't answer the phone, so that can't be the case...

We have been here several times and I can only warmly recommend it. Very tasty food (I had the liver dumplings with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut) and a large portion at reasonable prices (around €17). The drink prices are also rather low compared to other restaurants. (Large bottle of water costs 5-6€, somewhere else it easily costs 7-8€). The service was very attentive and friendly, food and drink came quickly despite the high number of people.

Unfortunately you can only enter the barrel after booking for events. The little restaurant next to it was quite nice.

We came with three families with children at around 2:30 p.m. and wanted some warm food. After the waitress told us we could sit down, the manager of the house finally turned us away, saying “everything was full”. But there were clearly three tables free for the next 1.5 hours. What a shame!! It leaves a bad aftertaste because of the family friendliness.

We were there with a group of around 35 people and were only allowed to order from the bus menu. Selection is very limited and the price is more expensive. Comparison of side dishes: salad + small (mini) schnitzel = €19, schnitzel including salad and sauces €17.50. In addition, the service was unfriendly and it didn't taste good either

There isn't much negative to say about the food, unfortunately not much positive about the service... We won't be visiting the restaurant again any time soon

Originelles Ambiente im 1934 von Keller erbauten Riesenfass, auch kleinere Portionen erhältlich, hab Pfälzischen Saumagen klein bestellt mit Weinsauerkraut und Püree, dazu ein Glas vom neuen Wein; empfehlenswerte Küche, lässt nur manchmal etwas lange auf sich warten.

We have been here for the umpteenth time and can only say: TOP!!! Reception top, service top, food top. Full marks and KEEP UP!!!!!!!

We have been coming here for more than 15 years to eat when we are in the area. Too bad that, with the change of ownership, it is no longer the same. The menu has remained the same, but once the dishes are on the table you clearly notice the difference. Hopefully they will recover, because in the end only tourists will come and they will continue to live on their past glory. The service is ok, but they admit that they have been told several times that things are deteriorating.

We were greeted with the words, everything outside was full, there were only seats left inside, even though there were only two people sitting at many tables. I asked if we could sit down and the first table said yes. Two very nice ladies and so we immediately started talking. There is a new chef here and the ladies wanted to try it out. First we ordered Riesling spritzers, which were very good. The ladies' food came and it smelled very good and we were confirmed that it tasted that way too. We ordered and were not disappointed, no tourist food, but very tasty, homemade, tasteful and a really big portion. It was perfect, highly recommended!!!

Despite reserving a table, we had to wait outside the door 😬. The promised reserved table in one of the cute little barrels couldn't be guaranteed. We had to sit in the next room, very impersonal. Then we gave up drinks and food, which came very quickly, despite having ordered an appetizer. Immediately everyone came to order food. Food, medallion was very, very dry, in a dish with fries, the oil was very used up, champions from a can, very unappetizing. The dessert before the digestif was excellent. “The landmark” Dürkheimer Fass was a very big disappointment in terms of food and drinks.

Celebrated my 40th birthday in the Bad Dürkheimer Riesenfass. All my guests were very satisfied. The food tasted great and the service was A1. Despite the busy restaurant and the large number of guests on my part, the food arrived and was at the table at the same time. Can highly recommend the giant barrel. Would love to come back.

Beautifully located restaurant with comfortable outdoor seating. Unfortunately the food wasn't convincing today. The fries were too dry and had too much oil. As if they had been sitting all day or had been heated several times. The chicken pieces in the salad were also not cooked through. After a few bites you could feel the raw meat. Pretty uncomfortable and a no-go. Overall, today's visit was a disappointment with so many reviews recommending it.

Drank a wine spritzer in a good atmosphere in the garden. Gladly again .

Wir haben dort auf der Rückreise in den Norden zu Abend gegessen. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön, hatten unsere Platz in einem der kleinen Fässchen. Die Speisekarte ist sehr abwechslungsreich und die Pfälzer Spezialitäten fehlen natürlich nicht auf der Karte. Die Leberknödel sind fantastisch. Blut und Leberwurst super lecker

Super great here. (Not anymore) 19 years in a row. And next time (never) again. And we were there again (for the last time). Nice service, yes that was it. But not as great as with the old owner. We, four friends, always went there to eat. Always consumed for around 80 euros. But our new location has been tested and we'll go there next WUMA.

It's a shame how rudely the gentleman in front of the door treats guests. You ask politely whether a table is free or when the tables outside will be occupied. There were probably 10 tables free. And he sends us away in a rude, condescending manner. The wording was bottom drawer. We traveled an extra 438km. We'll never go here again! Not recommended!

We thought: well, it's just a tourist spot, high prices, mediocre food... FAR FROM THE MISS: Absolutely reasonable prices (delicate Saumagen15 €), delicious cuisine (great salad dressing, great onion soup) and 50 (!!!) open wines of all classes. YOU CAN LOOK FOR THIS IN ALSACE 🙃

Very nice barrel stylishly furnished. The service is nice, the food (onion soup) was very bad. But people also responded and tasted the soup. Since they found that I was right, I didn't have to pay for the soup.

I've eaten at the barrel several times in recent years. But this time I was more than disappointed. The food was folded in a careless, tasteless manner. Fried potatoes half raw. Sauerkraut lukewarm dry fried. I will avoid this restaurant in the future. There is no relationship between price and performance.

The kitchen would have to work on paying attention to the orders and also be careful when serving the food! I ordered a salad without yoghurt dressing and I also know that the waiter took it that way and gave it that way with yoghurt, and the salad also had some rotten leaves! We've been here several times and it's always been very tasty... maybe it's because of the Wustmarkt or the change in tenants... the food just wasn't good... fried potatoes weren't cooked through, sauerkraut was lukewarm, everything was kind of bland... the "Winzer or similar. I'm sorry, because the service staff is friendly... unfortunately the price-performance ratio is no longer right... it's a shame

For this as they always praise the location, it's a complete disaster. Service none, food less than average and drinks okay, it these are thanks god not made by them. I have never seen such an unfriendly staff. Germany mutates to a more and more unfriendly, unreliable and more than expensive for the value for money country. The owners become more greedy and they know customers will at least come once to such a place. I can recommend to the owner, enter close it and be good with it!

Food good, ambience good, prices rather high

We wanted to go for a drink at lunchtime on August 10, 2024. We also told the waitress in the beer garden that. She only had no free table to drink. We could still dine at a table for 4 where 2 guests would eat. That wasn't a problem for us. The whole thing was communicated so arrogantly and arrogantly by the service staff that we decided not to give this restaurant a cent more. Instead we had a very good meal in a great restaurant in the pedestrian zone. Nowadays you should treat your guests differently.
