It was very tasty, would go again, very friendly.

Very tasty food, you can sit outside in summer (you should avoid the places right on the street; they can be loud) and otherwise of course in the iconic interior of the giant barrel. Service very friendly and attentive, but sometimes overloaded during busy times. We always enjoy coming back.

We ate very well here and the portions were generous. Both starter soups were tasty (beef broth and zuchini cream soup from the daily menu). We were all impressed by the various main courses and we almost had difficulty eating everything. Despite being busy, the service was very attentive and quick.

Tourist attraction. Advance order is absolutely necessary. Nice beer garden. Prices and food good.

It was a great service. The food looked great and tasted very good. The only thing is that I found the salad with turkey strips to be too small. You want a nice plate with colorful lettuce, some tomatoes, cucumbers, maybe even an egg. A little deodorant and a little more green 🙃 I have to say, the service reacted immediately and fulfilled exactly my wishes. 👍 I was completely amazed, the customer is still king here. Thank you from me. It would be great if you perhaps redesigned the salad a bit and included it in your new menu 🙃 Kind regards Daniella

We've actually been here twice every year. Now for the first time the complete catastrophe. We were ignored for 20 minutes and then the menus came. Then only half the food was brought. There wasn't even cutlery. Only then upon request. The staff was totally overwhelmed even though there wasn't even much going on. Very disappointing. Unfortunately, another restaurant that we will avoid.

We stopped by spontaneously and luckily got a place. Service was quick and friendly. The mixed salad for 12.50 came with unfried mushrooms, peppery vinaigrette and two very old lettuce leaves. ..that wasn't addressed...it's a shame. So it was a unique visit.

The kitchen would have to work on paying attention to the orders and also pay attention to how they are served! I ordered a salad without yoghurt dressing and I know that the waiter took it that way and gave it that way with yoghurt, and the salad also had some rotten leaves! Otherwise nothing to complain about, the waiter was great, easy to find and very friendly!!! Keep it up young man 👍👍👌👌👏👏👏

Super great location with very friendly and competent staff, only short waiting times for the drinks and food to arrive. The prices are reasonable, the food was great! The beer garden is a wonderful place to endure the mid-summer temperatures. We'd love to come back.

The giant barrel is also quite large and therefore very "busy" but we had a nice place and the staff is really great, and the food was just as good. I chose heaven and earth, it was great!

The waiter puts the cards in front of us, but doesn't show up again. After 15 minutes we left. It's a shame, I would have liked to have a glass of wine.

1 of the dishes weren’t for my taste buds. Couldn’t tell if the sausages were raw or just a very off flavour. But not for me, other 2 dishes were good. Some reason my salad arrived separate much earlier than everyone else, (10 minutes). Sign outside says “wait to be seated” waited roughly 5 minutes with a queue behind us. Then someone came and told us to just go find somewhere to sit. Was very difficult to get the bill.

Since the barrel changed hands, the staff has been much less friendly than before. The biggest drawback is that the kitchen doesn't seem to be able to cook gluten-free food, especially sauces. When the food came there was actually a sauce containing gluten on it even though they said it should come without sauce. The plates are careless and without any decoration. Not even a piece of butter was added instead of sauce. Quite an indictment. The barrel was once very good

We were there spontaneously as a couple and had the surprise dessert for 2 people, it was heavenly, highly recommended, very tasty. For us the dessert was excellent ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Good food, friendly staff and great ambience

We haven't been to the Dürkheim giant barrel for a long time. Unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly. In contrast to before, the food on the table is not very appealing and the quality is mediocre. I prefer not to comment on the quality and size of the side salad. Service and ambience are still good.

It was very nice there. The service was very friendly and the prices are affordable. It's also very comfortable to sit there.

We had lunch here at the end of a short holiday in the Palatinate. Dishes/drinks were Palatinate bratwurst with mashed potatoes and cabbage, Dürkheim giant barrel burger with fries, Riesling spritzer. Fortunately, the initial feeling that you might have landed in a tourist trap due to the very well-known location is completely dispelled. Food and drinks taste excellent, are comparatively cheap, and are served by great, uncomplicated, friendly service. I absolutely loved the burger, which was made with cooked pork, bacon, cabbage, mustard, served in two huge slices of bread and served with crispy fries. If we come to Bad Dürkheim again, we will definitely go to the giant barrel again!

We thought we would visit the giant barrel because we were passing through as tourists and wanted to go for a drink and a bite to eat. We were assigned a seat outside, even though most of the tables were still free. It seemed a bit strange to us, but it's not unusual either. We then ordered something to drink, which was served really quickly. A note on this: 0.2 liters (bitter lemon for me) is simply not enough. I wouldn't even offer it as a restaurant anymore. It is better to choose between 0.3 and 0.5 liters. Then we had a sausage salad. That was fine. Okay for a quick snack in between. Looking at the menu otherwise just leaves you shaking your head. The price/performance ratio is obviously not right. We would have liked to order more, but we've gotten out of the habit of continuing to support restaurants that have somehow forgotten what's important. The question that arises for me here is whether one should rest on the name and notoriety.

Food was very good as always. Everything could have a bit more pizzazz. Mustard should always be included in the Palatinate plate (barrel plate). Service well, probably too many tables per service. But food came quickly. The ambience is of course absolutely exceptional.

An absolute highlight in Bad Dürkheim! The Dürkheimer Riesenfass is worth a visit not only because of its impressive size, but also because of the fantastic service. Particularly noteworthy are the incredibly friendly waiters. From the very beginning we felt very welcome and well looked after here. They were always attentive, friendly and always had a smile on their faces. The atmosphere inside the barrel is unique and the wines and food are excellent. I can especially highly recommend the surprise dessert platter for two people. We will definitely be back and can only warmly recommend it!

Delicious food and drink at fair prices with good service

We ordered a wine tasting. Six wines to sample, three were shortlisted, we would have liked to take a few bottles with us, when I asked the waitress if I could get a bag for transport, they said no, they didn't have that. I would have appreciated a promotional bag with the barrel, so we didn't buy any wine.

The giant barrel was unfortunately closed during our visit to Bad Dürkheim. So next we set off a bit towards the center. But even then the sidewalks were folded up. So we went in the opposite direction and explored the area around the graduation tower. The water playground there is ideal for children of all ages.

Although an attraction, the furnishings are no longer up to date...

As a woman from the Palatinate, you always enjoy going to the barrel to eat. Unfortunately, the quality of the food is getting worse and worse. One time my guests were sick with diarrhea the next day. Both ate the same thing... this time the pork cheeks were anything but tender. Totally dried out because they had probably been kept open and warm for a long time. This development is really a shame, because I actually really enjoy eating there. Apart from that, the service is designed for a large number of guests and you are really stressed about choosing what to eat by constantly asking. Service can also be too much of a good thing, as you can see. Sad development for Bad Dürkheim's flagship...

We love coming here. If you like typical German food, this is for you! If you sit inside you’ll be seated in miniature barrels that seat about eight people. The only drawback in summer is that there’s no air conditioning! So it’s better to eat later and sit outside

Great garden dining. Beautifully presented German food. This place is the epitome of well presented German food. Huge beer and wine list. Not a good place if you are on a diet. Spaetzle very heavy on the cream and cheese. Excellent.

We had such nice weather that we were able to sit outside as a larger group. Unfortunately it closes very early at 9 p.m.

We went for lunch on Saturday and ate cheese spaetzle and tagliatelle with salmon. The food was very good. The service was very friendly and special requests were fulfilled immediately. All in all everything was fine

The barrel looks great from the outside, and the inside with the individual tables in the barrels is just great. We got a place without a reservation. Food was great.😋😉 Of course there is a huge parking lot in front of the giant barrel, so you will definitely find a place to park your car

The food was good, I had a barrel plate. It was very stuffy in the dining room At an outside temperature of 27 degrees. The staff was very attentive. Drinks and food came as requested and very quickly. Prices are 1-2 € higher than average. But overall everyone (6 people) was satisfied and had a nice evening.

We really liked it in the Risenfass. Nice atmosphere and delicious food. We both had fish.

Of course, if you stay in Bad Dürkheim you should visit the “Dürkheimer Riesenfass”. Since it was warm, I sat outside. Regional dishes on the menu, I treated myself to a Palatinate sausage salad and ate 2 deliciously cool glasses of dry Riesling. Wine recommendations for the selected dishes are included in the menu. Very attentive and friendly service. The price wasn't too high, I enjoyed it and enjoyed it. The only thing that isn't particularly exciting is the view of the parking lot.

The food was simply good, came to the table very quickly, so we think that a lot of it was pre-prepared (mashed potatoes or pasta pre-cooked). We had a waitress who was on her first day but was very nice and made an effort. Thank you, always happy… 🍀

We were there on a Saturday around lunchtime. From 12:00 p.m. onwards, food was only available if there was a table reservation. I think it was mostly spa guests who went there to eat.

The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, but despite a reservation you were put in a side room without telling anyone, which was very loud.

A traditional Palatinate inn with corresponding specialties but also other cuisine. Delicious Palatinate wines. Criticism: Cheap disposable napkins like at the snack bar, cloth napkins would be better. Ambience a bit outdated…

Classic tourist kit - no question! But the shop does honest cuisine! And good God: If you go out there hungry, it's your own fault! The chef is obviously a humanitarian! xD Luckily there is also delicious wine so that the Palatinate plate doesn't feel so alone ^^

The 'something different' restaurant in the Palatinate, also very popular with (foreign) guests, large selection of food and drinks (great wines!), large portions and very tasty, the price is right too 😊

We've been coming to the barrel for years, twice a year. But this spring 24 it was a complete disaster. The asparagus was lukewarm, fibrous and super thin. The new potatoes were old jacket potatoes, some of which looked at you with big eyes. As always, we ordered Bitburger Pils (as it says on the menu and is advertised everywhere) and got Radeberger Pils without comment. When we asked the waitress we were told that she didn't know anything about beer. The asparagus is like that because the season is almost over 😂 Only the barrel plate was good as always. The asparagus eaters left the barrel in protest after a vain attempt to find something tasty on their plate. When we arrived we were surprised that there wasn't much going on. Today, a day later, we happened to talk to locals who told us that the Dürkheimer no longer goes into the barrel since a new tenant took over the barrel.

So I have no idea how to get 5 stars for the food. Asparagus soup was so thin and watery, it was just bad. Fried potatoes were neither fried nor crispy, just mushy. Haven't eaten so badly in a long time. By the way, this happened to us years ago and we wouldn't have gone there again if we hadn't been given a voucher.

Had our wedding anniversary and reservations in the barrel today. All I can say is that everything went well. Very nice service, even with welcome champagne on the house. Always friendly and attentive. We have the restaurant leaving completely happy. Thank you very much !!!!!

Stopped in for lunch with a small child. Authentic restaurant with very, very friendly staff!!!!!! The parents ate very deliciously and our little one also felt very comfortable. Children seem to be very welcome here. Price/performance great! Thank you ! Keep it up !!!!!!
