We were there on a Saturday at lunchtime. We were a group, had made a reservation, and were allowed to change tables upon request. The restaurant has regular tables inside, but also tables in barrel-shaped booths, giving you your own private nook. Each restaurant offers a wine recommendation. There's a wide selection of dishes, including vegetarian options. The food arrived very quickly; the appetizers and soups were there in about three minutes. The food was fresh, hot, and the portions were generous—enough to fill you up.

Great food. Sat quickly at 4pm. Friendly staff that spoke English, we had translate ready. Kids had fish, we had schnitzel and pork medallions with salads. Food came quick and was delicious. Recommend if you are in the area.

Last night I was invited to a birthday party there: I ordered beef strips with fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were mealy, soggy, and not at all crispy. The beef strips were actually sirloin, which were unfortunately sinewy and dry. Beef strips are something else entirely. The large room made it incredibly noisy; conversation was nearly impossible. All in all, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

For a restaurant with such a long history, the quality of the food should be significantly better. The price-performance ratio is by no means satisfactory. Throwing a pre-formed vegetable schnitzel (estimated at 150g) into the deep fryer has nothing to do with fine dining or high prices and is not filling. We had booked a table for a group of about 40 people and ordered our food in advance. The prices would be perfectly reasonable if the portions were correspondingly large. The service was excellent and, despite many rumbling stomachs, contributed to a great atmosphere… Staff like that are simply invaluable.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant! We had made a reservation for a 90th birthday party for eight people (including a toddler in a highchair). We were given a square table, approximately 1.20m x 1.20m, where we were supposed to have a leisurely lunch. It would have been impossible to even fit all the plates on the table because it was simply far too cramped. The staff's response was that they couldn't change it. However, if we wanted to leave, we were told to make a quick decision because they wanted to reassign the table. So, we all got up and left. Therefore, I cannot give a realistic review of the food. A real shame!

We ate inside the world's largest beer barrel – quite a unique experience! The service was friendly and pleasant, and the barrel platter included a bread dumpling with mushrooms. It was filling and delicious. We also visited the Roman quarry Kriemhildenstuhl, which offers a great view, the Celtic rampart Heidenmauer, and, of course, the enormous saltworks.

The restaurant inside the Dürkheim giant wine barrel offers good food and a wide selection of wines. Service is quick and friendly. A wine recommendation is provided with every dish. The whole operation is a large and efficient organization. You can sit either in the lower part of the barrel or in the adjoining, barrel-shaped structure. The large hall is not currently part of the restaurant. Reservations are recommended!

We were a group of eight people on a day trip to Bad Dürkheim and had lunch at the Riesenfass restaurant. Unfortunately, we live too far away; I would definitely eat there more often. We had one person with numerous allergies, and even they were able to get their desired meal, as everything is freshly prepared. If the fish couldn't be seasoned, they got it without, and if the green beans with bacon were to be without bacon, no problem, they were made without bacon! Everyone was so friendly and patient, even though the Riesenfass was quite full. I had a "small" schnitzel with mushroom sauce and fries, absolutely delicious, and the fries were crispy on the outside, not soggy at all. I was truly impressed and ended up annoying my companions afterward by constantly saying how delicious it was. Paying was also incredibly quick, even though everyone paid separately and in different ways, some by cash, others by card. The service was truly wonderful; you couldn't tell they were stressed at all. Thank you so much for this fantastic service!!!

I used to think the Fass was a tourist trap, but that's really not true. Lots of locals go there, the service is great, and the food arrives quickly and is cooked to perfection. Fantastic! A restaurant in a barrel, and even our table was set in a barrel-shaped alcove! Quick staff, delicious traditional dishes, and very generous portions! What a shame!!!!! The Palatinate is famous for its food and drinks. The only thing I can't recommend is a "Pfälzer Schorle" (Palatinate spritzer) on tap. It's estimated to be 75% sparkling water and the rest wine. That's what I call a rip-off. We (6 people) complained – unfortunately, to no avail.

There were three of us. We ate around 4 p.m. Food The food was very good. The meat really tasted like butcher's meat and was cooked to perfection! The side dishes were superb! For me, it's always a quality criterion when the mashed potatoes are homemade. It was! Excellent! Grade 1 Service Absolutely friendly and concerned about our satisfaction. Drinks and food arrived very quickly. The lady was friendly! Grade 1 Value/Performance All in all, not cheap, but very tasty! Grade 2+ Atmosphere Palatinate and homely atmosphere. The decor is a bit dated. Conclusion Clearly recommended despite the higher price. But that's also due to the location.

We had reserved a table at the Dürkheimer Riesenfass and arrived after a delay due to traffic congestion, having previously informed the restaurant by phone. Drinks and Palatinate Saumagen were ordered. The drink order was initially adjusted and later corrected. The Palatinate Saumagen was served hot and seared. The mashed potatoes were light and soft; a pat of butter would have rounded it off even better, in my opinion. The sauerkraut contained juniper berries and was delicious. Two espressos after the meal were served after about 10 minutes and were unfortunately only moderately hot.

In the tourism industry, one often thinks about mass processing!!! I can't confirm this at all!!! You arrive, you're shown to your table very quickly (reservations definitely recommended)!!! We visited this restaurant for lunch on the last day of the wine festival. The entrance is marked by a large wooden wine barrel, which makes it easy to spot. The outdoor courtyard was already full when we arrived, and my friend and I were lucky to get the very last available table. From our seats, we could see the nearby carnival rides, which added to the festive atmosphere. We ordered the restaurant’s two signature main dishes — both were flavorful, though the portions were a bit too large for us to finish. Unfortunately, we were served directly in the barrel...we were a large group of around 50 people...there were only two waiters to begin with...later four (then it went faster). We waited 45 minutes for drinks and 1.5 hours for the food, even though we had ordered in advance...We were sat in the middle of the barrel...which would have been nice if it weren't so cramped....It was dark, cramped, and uncomfortable. Some of the group were allowed to look for free seats in the annex, but we weren't when we asked to change seats. The table was too small for five people....In short: I didn't like it at all. Food: Viennese-style veal schnitzel and fries: five stars...the rest, unfortunately, less so.

We often have a lot to do in Bad Dürkheim. This is partly due to the Sparkasse Rhein-Haardt. If it's lunchtime, we also like to go to a restaurant there. We've visited the Dürkheimer Fass several times. A must-see for visitors to this town. Centrally located in the city center. Plenty of parking is available nearby (parking meters). The food in the barrel is excellent, whether regional dishes or specialties. I would say the price is reasonable. However, I don't like the hustle and bustle around the barrel. We prefer a quiet restaurant. But that's at the discretion of the guests. They say they'll be seated. Just choose a table; we haven't experienced it yet. You have to see and experience the barrel. The Dürkheimer Fass is the largest barrel in the world. With a capacity of 1.7 million liters, a length of 15 meters, and a diameter of 13.5 meters, it's an impressive monument to German wine. More than 200 cubic meters of wood were processed by Fritz Keller and his numerous helpers for the giant barrel. It's not used for wine storage. No, it's for catering. And that's something very special. It was built in 1934 by master cooper Fritz Keller. The fir structure is impressive in its special craftsmanship. The 200 fir trees come from the Black Forest. The barrel was added in 1958. It has space for 150 guests and is rustically furnished to accommodate the influx of visitors. (Open year-round) As a guest, you have to see and experience this barrel. It's simply impressive.

Unfortunately, I have to revise my review. We were there last week with two people. A veal schnitzel with croquettes was simply placed on the plate, no garnish, just plain. My potato soup for €7.50 tasted good, but the croutons were very tough and not crispy. The portion was very small, and bread was only available upon request. I was very disappointed. I can recommend it without reservation; very good, traditional German cuisine with a touch of fine dining. The food is incredibly delicious, reasonably priced, and the sauces are freshly prepared. All in all, a well-rounded experience with good service.

The location is great for dining with friends or family. The prices aren't too high. It's hard for me to rate the food, but it's a bit salty, and the limited staff makes for a bit of a sloppy service.

We had reserved a table. The meal, bratwurst with potato salad, was a matter of taste. The sausages were lukewarm, but amazing: no mustard, and when we asked for it, they even charged us for it. We certainly won't be back.

A really nice and cozy location, in a barrel. It's cozier inside, but we went there spontaneously and were lucky enough to get a seat outside. The liver dumplings are delicious, and the portions are great for the price. 👍🏻

The food is definitely not freshly prepared. Everything is pre-prepared and frozen. That's why swapping a side costs 3.50, which I find unbelievable. I've never experienced that anywhere else. The beer has been poured a long time ago, so you end up getting a beer that looks like an apple juice spritzer (without a head of foam). Sometimes fries are thrown in the fryer twice because they're already cold or because the expensive item wasn't thrown away. The potato salad comes from a huge Metro bucket. If you have any idea about good food, please go to another restaurant. Bottom line: outrageous prices for this ready-made crap.

The service here is very friendly, although we were sometimes ignored due to our young age, which is perhaps understandable. The food, the Jägerschnitzel and the rump steak, were very good. The wait is a bit longer, but it's definitely worth it. The restaurant is typically German and offers a wide selection of dishes as well as plenty of seating, both inside and outside. We would definitely come again.

Rip-off, unfriendly. The food was lukewarm and from the Metro (frozen goods). The beer was stale and without a crown. Prices are completely inflated, see picture. I got a bottle of ketchup for 80 cents. They didn't ask if I liked it, and they didn't even say thank you at the checkout. Once and never again, it's like Ballermann, designed for tourists who only come once.

An institution in DÜW, I used to go there several times in the 80s, always delicious, always well and friendly service, it's such a shame that this era is now coming to an end.

Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. Family-run, very friendly service. We'll be back. The grilled liver is highly recommended, but everything else is excellent too.

We stayed here overnight while passing through and just enjoyed an excellent breakfast. We had originally planned to have dinner here yesterday because of the great reviews, but unfortunately, we arrived too late due to traffic. What a shame! Everything here is perfect. Clean, newly renovated rooms, tasteful decor, excellent food and service. Even the sofa bed for our two children was super comfortable, and Mrs. Brand was an excellent host. It was also by far the best value for money for an overnight stay with a family of four. 100% recommendation!
