Bad Dürkheimer Fass in Bad Dürkheim

Wir kommen seit Jahren ins Fass. Jetzt gibt es einen neuen Koch mit neuer Karte. Alles wurde verschlimmbessert. Bratkartoffeln matschig, Burger neu auf der Karte kommt in zwei Scheiben Schwarzbrot mit Senf und Kraut - war kalt - braucht kein Mensch. Fischgericht hat geschmeckt aber alles total lieblos aufeinder gestapelt. Für das Geld was verlangt wird geht lieber woanderst essen.

Das Essen und der Service enttäuschend und überteuert! Die Location selbst ist urig, Abe das ist zu wenig für ein Speiselokal.

Het eten is niet slecht, maar alles wat erbij komt wel. Het is treurig en bedrouvend dat het personeel bedelt om "trinkgeld" een fooi. Ik geef dat normaal altijd maar in deze eetschuur, of moet ik zeggen vreetschuur, verdienen ze het nauwelijks. Wegblijven, er zijn veel betere plekken om te eten in deze leuke stad.

It is a privilege to eat in this giant barrel. Hearty meals come in large plates. Service is fast.

The food is outstanding! I have rarely eaten so well. You can tell that everything is freshly cooked here and the service is very attentive and friendly. If you are not familiar with it, it is best to take the "barrel" plate. There's a bit of everything there. Also the famous Palatinate Saumagen. In terms of taste, the side dishes such as the mashed potatoes are a particular highlight. The prices are fair and absolutely justified. We'll definitely be back!

The place is really nice! Rustic, local and honest food with good value for money. The service was also good. We had the barrel plate with all sorts of things from the Palatinate kitchen. That was very tasty!

Food is home-style and OK. Nothing extraordinary. The atmosphere, especially in the barrel, is very dark and narrow/oppressive (quaint?) and outside it is rather loud and uncomfortable.

Very good food in a cozy, rustic atmosphere. The friendly service was very quick and courteous. The food was also served 10-15 minutes after ordering, despite the restaurant being busy. A reservation is definitely recommended. The barrel is of course absolutely unique and really worth seeing, the beautiful gastronomy rounds off the attraction perfectly. P.S. One of the best, if not the best, Jägerschnitzel I have ever eaten!

Die Räume sind rustikal (leider sehr schlechte Luft, wenn alle Tische besetzt sind) und tendenziell eher dunkel. Das Restaurant hat diverse Nischen und Abteile, vom grossen Fass ist im Innenraum nichts/wenig zu sehen. Es wird gutbürgerliches Essen serviert, es gibt eine relativ grosse Auswahl. Unser Essen wurde sehr schnell serviert und es gibt grosse Portionen. Die Bedienung war freundlich und konnte uns einen Wein aus der Umgebung empfehlen.

Wir kamen freundlich und mit besten Absichten. Wir gingen enttäuscht und irritiert. Bestellt hatten wir mehrere Weinproben und Desserts. Leider waren aufgrund eines Fehlers der Bar, die Gläschen vertauscht. Niemand inklusive der Bedienung wusste welcher Wein sich in welchem Glas befand. Normalerweise kann man da Lösungen finden. Das Management hier entschied sich für folgende zwei Möglichkeiten: 1) entweder die Gäste trinken doch bitte einfach blind oder 2) es wird abgeräumt… und das bei Preisen von bis zu 22 Euro je Gedeck. So etwas noch nie erlebt. Inklusive des aggressiven Tons einer eigentlich unbeteiligten aber offensichtlich leitenden weiblichen Servicekraft.

I've never experienced being presented with something that wasn't ordered and then being given the choice of taking it or not getting anything else. One meal was missing and the quality was mediocre. First the positive aspects: quaint decor and quick delivery of the food. Now the negative: very loud, because the barrel was always relatively full. The food is not appropriate for the price. I had a schnitzel for around 20 euros without salad, which unfortunately was only average. My wife had a salad plate for just under 20 euros and went home hungry. The barrel thrives on the masses of tourists and is prepared for just such a flow. Unfortunately, this is the wrong address for us to spend a cozy evening with good food.

The barrel plate (sausage stomach, worscht and liver kneb) tasted great. Plus a good Riesling from the Palatinate. Good service. What more could you want?

Unfortunately, the experience at Dürkheimer Fass did not meet our expectations and we cannot hide how disappointed and dissatisfied we are. The innkeeper, whose behavior was far from the hospitality we would have expected, ruined our evening. Although we had made a reservation and this was confirmed, our planned dinner with several guests seemed doomed to fail. The situation was made worse by the lack of an apology or constructive solution that could have helped us salvage the evening. As loyal customers who have visited this restaurant over the years, we are dismayed by the current conditions and have decided that we will no longer invest any money in this establishment. We deeply regret that a once admired restaurant is now run by a tenant who, in our eyes, shows neither competence nor respect. Our hope now goes to the barrel's owners' association, in the belief that they will act accordingly. We do not believe in any improvement under the current management.

Absolutely and unreservedly. Even with today's incredible number of visitors, everything went perfectly, no long wait for the food, 5 different lunches came at the same time, the quality was excellent, everything was very tasty and plentiful, and the service was very friendly and relaxed.

We went there for dinner. Although we were initially skeptical because the menu is very meat-heavy, we nevertheless found some very tasty vegetarian dishes. The service was excellent. Unfortunately, the restrooms are a joke. Very cramped cubicles in the basement, narrow stairs. Cubicles where you can barely move, and one cubicle was completely flooded. It wasn't particularly hygienic.

We ate the Tafelspitz and the Winzerteller and can only praise the cuisine; very, very tasty food and very friendly service with absolutely normal pricing. That's why this was certainly not our last visit here and we can absolutely recommend a visit to the Dürkheimer Faß!!!

Was there with 10 people... very satisfied with the food, quality and speed as well as the ambience!!! Soap in the toilet was refilled immediately after the “empty” message was given!!

We waren redelijk vroeg om 11:45 en alles was al gereserveerd en dat op een woensdag! Maar ze hadden nog een klein tafeltje voor ons op de hoek! Ontvangst was hartelijk en de bediening snel!! Wel direct een fors glas riesling van 0,25 l, maar prijs hoeveelheid is 0,25 wel voordeliger! We zijn voor de lokale specialiteiten gegaan! Ik had een senioren portie, maar dat was ook ruim voldoende! De worst en zuurkool zijn gewoon lekker, wel mosterd erbij besteld, je staat dan weer binnen 45 minuten op straat!

I had a spontaneous meal here with a friend a week ago. We didn't have a reservation. But that wasn't a problem at all. Probably because it was Monday. We were served promptly, the drinks and then the food were served almost in record time. As a local, I was a bit skeptical about the quality of the food. The barrel definitely has the reputation of being a “tourist club”. But I would be proven wrong. The food came to the table hot, plentiful and very tasty, the spritzer was as it should be. So a clear recommendation! Here you can eat well and tasty.

We ordered a signature burger... Dishes are prepared in advance; there is no question of the flavor of something freshly prepared. Everything is over-salted and over-peppered. Cabbage from the nearest supermarket, mustard from somewhere else. I only liked the bread... I ate it with beer.

A nice restaurant. There is delicious food. I had venison goulash with bread dumplings and red cabbage and my partner had a small portion of Saumagen with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes.

Nice location, but we weren't impressed with the food, paid €70 for 2 common dishes (Jägerschnitzel + pork medallions) with a touch of sauce... so very dry. The staff was also totally stressed, and we were also asked to leave because the table for 5 p.m. had already been reserved for another group. Even though the waitress seated us at the table at 4 p.m. Beautiful landscape and ambience in Bad Dürkheim but the restaurant disappointed us..

I visited this restaurant 2 weeks ago where should I start eating not fresh salad tasted like it was 3 days old. I think the food was expired, the fried potatoes were black and the schnitzel was rancid. When I ran out of the restaurant and an employee ran at my feet crying, it was completely over. What kind of shop is this? Definitely not worth a visit.

Very friendly staff, German regional cuisine. Please always reserve, almost impossible without a reservation as it is always busy. We weren't directly in the giant barrel, but in "Die Bütt". Which is integrated directly into the giant barrel.

There is a restaurant inside the Riesenfass but it was closed when we were there. I was told that is usually very busy during tourist season.

Today we had a reservation at the Dürkheimer Riesenfass dinner and have to say it was TOP!!! The decor is quaint/cozy. The portions are large and small portions can also be ordered for those who eat less. The service is super friendly and everyone is on their toes 👍🏻. The prices are completely okay. After your meal you can go for a walk in the Kur Park next door or at the salt works. There are enough parking spaces available. We'll be back!!

Das Essen war dass letzte! Die Hälfte die gekommen war (der Rest der Bestellung wurde erst gar nicht richtig erfasst) war einfach nur eine Fertigsosse in der noch frische Pilze rein kamen, das Fleisch ungenießbar und einen Tag später ist einem so übel das man sich nur noch mehr ärgert darüber. Ach und nicht zu vergessen die Kleidung riecht nach Pommesbude und das bestellte Wasser war wohl noch 20 Minuten im Brunnen wenn man die Bedienung nicht daran erinnert hätte wäre es da jetzt noch. Never Ever Fass unter der Leitung. Wenn der Chef dann noch in der Ecke hockt und am Handy zockt ist alles verloren!

When I told the waiter that my steak wasn't cooked properly, he just laughed and took it away. When it came back it was dry and cooked through. I didn't expect a refund - just an acknowledgment of the error - but instead they acted like it was normal and charged the full price. I have been a loyal customer for over ten years and have always recommended this restaurant to newcomers. Unfortunately, Sunday doesn't seem to be a good day to visit. It feels as if only students or trainees are cooking here on this day. At least the water was good.

The "hut" was full and quite loud. My meal was not what I expected. The steak was well done instead of medium and quite unseasoned.

Went there with friends and had previously reserved a small keg for 5 people. Really rustic place. Super nice welcome and really quick and friendly service. Service alone deserves 5 stars!!!!. As a wine connoisseur, I have learned that you can safely forget everything that so-called “wine experts” say. The only important thing is: I like it. And the selection is really delicious. The food is also very good and, above all, plentiful: 3 slices of Saumagen with plenty of puree (creamy!) and sauerkraut with jus. You'll definitely get full for just under €15. Highly recommended!

Very disappointing that the giant barrel is advertised on the Internet and when you reserve a table by phone, the person opposite answers with the giant barrel and makes the reservation and when you arrive you are directed to another restaurant to the right of the barrel. Statement from the service: "The barrel can only be rented for private events; a viewing would be possible through the tourist information." Here, customers are lured with false information about an attraction. I ordered herring with potatoes. The potatoes were lukewarm.

The operator prepared an excellent buffet at a Christmas party. Starter excellent, main course varied, good and plentiful. Dessert with dessert and cheese flawless. Conclusion: it will also be true in the restaurant.

We went here for dinner and overall we were very satisfied. The food was excellent, with one small exception: the boiled beef that my father-in-law had ordered was unfortunately a bit tough. Otherwise everything was wonderful – from the salad to the starter to the main course. We would particularly like to highlight the service: Laura was extremely attentive and friendly. Nice ambience. Delicious food in large portions. Very nice and above all fast service; an attentive young man. There is a large parking lot right next to it for added mobility. Prices: not cheap, but overall reasonable. I thought it was very nice that the menu included information about the right Palatinate wine. Five stars for local patriotism (in a good sense).
