An extremely delicious breakfast buffet with a varied selection.

The burger, El Chapo, looks good and tastes good too. The meat was on the grill a little too long, but it was still just ok. I have to say that we were a group of 18 people. It's quite an art to serve everyone's food on the table at the same time. That worked wonderfully. My fellow travelers were also happy with their food. These included 2x the Empire Stage Burger, 2x pancakes and more. The desert was also very good, according to my fellow travelers. The service was also good. Attentive and quick. Recommended.

We were there for breakfast... first class... plenty of choice and something for every taste... then we were there several times for dinner... very, very tasty... simply fantastic... the waitresses, always friendly and... courteous... Top class...absolutely recommended, whether in the morning or evening...keep it up...it was fun to be a guest there...

Food (breakfast buffet) was very rich, large selection and great quality. The service was very friendly but also a bit forgetful (a clear request for sweetener and sugar was brought anyway). Now for the negative; The toilets are horrible, broken locks, missing handles on the cubicles that are much too small. Torture for tall people like me. Not very clean and missing towels. The restaurant is practically not suitable for people with walking difficulties. (no railing at the entrance, wheelchair users have no chance of getting in, let alone getting to the toilet. For me that's a reason not to go there anymore!

Nice restaurant, they forgot something in my order but when we brought it up they immediately apologized. Otherwise everything was great, they also have a cool menu.

The food was very good, the burgers were great, and the service staff was very friendly. The only thing that was personally missing for me was the reference to the name of the restaurant. Overall, I would definitely come back and recommend it.

Extremely friendly service, guests feel very comfortable here. The menu is very clear. I liked the selection. The tarte flambée was very tasty. I would happily eat here again if I were in Emden again.

The food in East Frisia is really delicious. The salads and the plant bowl in particular are my favorites! The ingredients are always fresh, high quality and deliciously prepared. The breakfast is also absolutely great. I really like both the on-site buffet and the breakfast boxes for home. The selection is huge and everything here tastes great. The delivery times for the box have always been adhered to. I really enjoy being a guest there and come back often!

The breakfast buffet has been excellent for years, but unfortunately we don't like the á la carte dishes that much. No matter, then it's just breakfast 😉...

I ordered a breakfast box for my mother for her birthday and left it as a note in the comment when ordering. “Happy Birthday” was written on the lid and streamers were placed in the box. Was delivered on time too! Very, very great! Mom was very happy. THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤️

Went to the Ostfriesen today and found it very appealing. The staff was very attentive and very friendly (even with small breakdowns). Had a wrap with chicken which was really very good. There was also nothing wrong with the portion size. The East Frisian…absolutely recommended

Ordered Mattje plate and currywurst today at 12.30 p.m., with a beer and a Sprite. Drinks came quickly, beer OK, Sprite stale. After 50 minutes still no food. Guests who came later and had their food quickly. After an hour of waiting, we paid for the drinks and left.

We spent our vacation in Emden. We were able to reserve a table online in advance, which I always prefer. The staff were very friendly and the food was really tasty! Can't complain. :) If we were to be in Emden again, I would go there again.

You can have a good breakfast here. Price/performance ratio is ok.

The baked potato comes with a large salad and was really tasty. Unfortunately, my friend's fries were fried for too long and were therefore quite dry. The prices of the burgers are high in relation to the portion size.

The Ostfriese is a very nice restaurant with a wonderful ambience and very tasty food. The wait staff, despite the full house, did their job masterfully. Above all, our waitress (I think her name was Elisha) was very friendly and accommodating. Apart from her beautiful looks, she has shown off her waitressing skills to the fullest.

Great for something fresh to drink after a tour of the city

Drinks were served very cold. Had classic burger with side dish. Burger very juicy, cucumbers and tomatoes cut too thick for my taste, sauce was ok. Unfortunately, the fries were only warm and not salted enough. Despite the many guests, the staff was very nice and accommodating.

Addendum from 4 to 5 stars, see below !!!!!! I only give 4 points because the young lady who served us was really super nice and charming ♥️. We were a bit disappointed with the food, the burgers were dry and the fries were really cold. Definitely expected more for the money. Portion size was good. The service was spotty but nice. We were with you for 7 hours today and we felt so welcome, even when we asked if we should vacate the place, we simply said "no way, you are such pleasant guests" first of all, thank you very much for that ❤️. The young man who was in charge of us from around 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. (we were sitting in front of the counter) was really great, very cheerful... he simply does a great job!

The food was tasty, but I didn't think the name of the restaurant matched the menu. One would actually have expected northern German cuisine rather than burgers, tapas and bowls. But the service and food were absolutely right. Would go again.

Better Extrablatt or Café del sol, for us as Westphalia the name promised more than the menu could deliver. But the food was okay and the burgers were cooked well and medium. Very nice service and child-friendly facility.

Having just arrived in Emden, we were attracted to the East Frisian by the good reviews. Absolutely justified 5 stars. We were very well entertained, ate fresh and well-prepared burgers 🍔 and, as a topping, we received nice compliments on the way home. Try it out!! Dinner made us happy 😊👍🏻

We went there without making a reservation. We were warmly welcomed and served quickly. The food was fresh and very tasty, we had burgers and various tappas. Unfortunately we were only here on holiday, if we lived here we would go here more often.

Simply first class. Excellent food, very nice location, the toilets are also neat. There's an incredible amount of space, nice staff and a good image. The price of the teas is quite affordable, but for the food it is definitely worth the price, it tastes great. To share or enjoy yourself, a good idea for in-between meals or planned sit-ins with the whole family and friends.

During our week in Emden we ate twice in the evening at Ostfriesen. Great, quick service, very tasty food. Nice ambience. We can recommend the Donald Trump burger, the tapas, the chili cheese burger and the tarte flambée with pulled pork. Plus a freshly tapped Heinecken. Everything was great. We can recommend the East Frisian 100%.

We ate there for the first time. Unfortunately we are a bit disappointed. We ordered the classic baked potato for €12, and 2 tapas (bruschetta and meatballs in tomato sauce) for around €6 each. The look and smell of the food was promising, the portions were very large and it smelled very good. Unfortunately, appearances can be deceiving when it comes to taste. The bruschetta was overloaded with tomatoes, a little balsamic and A LOT of arugula. On top of that there was a tasteless hard cheese that turned everything into “nothing” in terms of taste. The meatballs tasted like the cheap meatballs from a discount store and the accompanying sauce was also very light in taste without any real “kick”. Unfortunately really not good. The baked potato looks great in the bowl, but the dish of only lukewarm potatoes with sour cream consists mainly of arugula, a lot of red onions and a whole lot of pomegranate seeds, which in my opinion don't go well with it. I had to leave over half of it. The prices on the website are not current as of June 29, 2024. Everything is a little more expensive in the original.

We decided to visit the East Frisian because of the predominantly positive reviews and the appealing offer. The food and drinks were also very good and couldn't be faulted. It was prepared quickly and was very tasty. What we noticed negatively during our visit, however, was the service, which didn't seem to be interested in us. We felt treated with little respect by the waitress. When we arrived we were quickly sent to a table in a dark corner and without a word laid out with cards and cutlery. We ordered from another waitress who was actually very friendly. After our food and drinks were brought to us, we never saw a waitress who even looked at us again. There was no response to hand signals or speaking. When we finally managed to get the attention of a waitress, we had already lost the desire to order a few more drinks or dessert. Even during the payment process we were treated with such disinterest that we were neither asked if we would split the bill nor were we given the chance to leave a tip because the card machine was simply held in our faces. We just didn't feel welcome on this visit. Of course, it's always possible to have a bad day. That's why we would give the restaurant another chance to find out whether we actually made a mistake or whether our experiences would repeat themselves.

To recommend. Appointments fill up quickly. Everything is online. The food was good, the pulled chicken unfortunately arrived quite cold, but everything was still very tasty. Service was also ok. Ambience very chic, modern. The price is already very high.

Tapas are okay in terms of taste. The chicken was particularly good. The portion sizes are absolutely sufficient and the prices are unbeatable. Cocktails too watery. Service was attentive and friendly.

Very nice place and our first time there. It was very busy and the staff was tired but tried hard. The burgers were amazing! Unfortunately the Jägerschnitzel was from the convenience food category. The salad was also so-so. So if you go there then definitely for the burgers.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Der Ostfriese in Emden with friends and I have to say that my experience was made absolutely unforgettable by the service of a young but very competent waiter named Felix. As soon as I entered the restaurant I was greeted with a warm smile and a warm “Moin!” The restaurant could easily be named after him. Despite the high number of guests, he took the time to explain the menu to me in detail and recommended dishes that were top notch. With dishes like “Börek” I initially thought I had sat down at “The Turks”; However, thanks to his advice, we quickly had a nice matjes with delicious, regional East Frisian tea! As a former innkeeper, I can only warmly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is not only looking for good food and a pleasant atmosphere, but also wants to receive first-class service along with a good dose of humor.

Ich habe kürzlich das Vergnügen gehabt, das Lokal Der Ostfriese in Emden mit Freunden zu besuchen und ich muss sagen, dass mein Erlebnis durch den Service eines jungen, doch sehr kompetenten Kellners Namens Felix absolut unvergesslich wurde. Schon beim Betreten des Lokals wurde ich von ihm mit einem warmen Lächeln und einem herzlichen ,,Moin!“ empfangen. Das Lokal könnte glatt nach ihm benannt sein. Er nahm sich trotz hohem Gästeaufkommen die Zeit, mir die Speisekarte detailliert zu erklären und empfahl Gerichte, die erste Sahne waren. Bei Gerichten wie ,,Börek“ dachte ich zunächst, ich hätte mich in ,,Den Türken“ gesetzt; Jedoch waren wir durch seine Beratung schnell beim schönen Matjes mit leckerem, betont regionalen Ostfriesen Tee! Mein kleiner Racker hat von dem sehr lieben Kellner frische Beeren, extra Eiswürfel, sogar Material zum Malen bekommen! Ich fühlte mich, als hätte ich einen Butler ;) Als ehemalige Gastwirtin kann ich dieses Lokal jedem nur wärmstens empfehlen, der nicht nur gutes Essen und eine angenehme Atmosphäre sucht, sondern auch erstklassigen Service zusammen mit einer guten Portion Humor bekommen möchte.

Actually everything is almost good there but the service is really terrible. The younger waiters should be trained again. Unfortunately they were inattentive, unfriendly and served poorly. Other tables ordered after us and we received our food later than the other tables. In addition, in my opinion, meals should come relatively soon after each other. Here it was like this that 2 out of 6 got the food and only later the others got food one by one. Plus there wasn't much going on that day. The glasses were dirty and they didn't apologize for it and just looked stupid. The toilets weren't very clean, soap was empty and the trash can was overflowing. The food was very, very good... I would probably come again alone, but not with the family. An unpleasant meal unfortunately.

Great place, super friendly. Food was fabulous. The burgers were outstanding. Service a 3 because whilst taking our order the waiter just left half way through and came back 10 minutes later. Clearing tables and chatted to other staff. Never expected or had that before.

Lovely place at downtown market square with outside seating and indoor dining. Modern furniture and decor. It was packed but noise level was good for table conversation. Nice food and drink selection, liked the ice tea varieties. Great and delicious food. Midrange prices. Nice staff.

We spontaneously looked for a breakfast restaurant and came across “Der Ostfriese” because of the positive reviews. When we arrived we were told that the buffet was unfortunately over and would be cleared away soon. We were offered to fill our plates and sit down. We were handed four large plates and decided to stay. Everything is perfect in this restaurant: ambience, service, hospitality, etc. At a price of €12.90 for the buffet, there is a clear recommendation. Always happy.

We ordered a lunch box and I have to say we were very disappointed. Normally we were always super happy with the speakers because there was really nothing to complain about at the beginning. But unfortunately this and last time. Regarding the service: the supplier was on time. You can't complain and it's very friendly too. About the food: unfortunately the rolls were completely hard and therefore inedible. The coffee was cold and the fruit and vegetables in the box were no longer the freshest. I had a much different experience with the East Frisian. Since this has now happened a second time, I had no choice but to comment on the topic!

Sehr nettes Ambiente und aufmerksame Bedienung. Wir saßen auf dem schönen Marktpldtz und haben günstige Drinks zur Happy Hour gehabt. Die Speisekarte sah aber auch gut aus, viele Tappas, Burger und Nedelgetichte. Absolut empfehlenswert!

The only thing that doesn't fit here is the name. At an East Frisian I expect everything, but no Lebanese/Syrian cuisine. But it was really good!! Went here twice for breakfast, that was great too! It's a shame the name is confusing.

Centrally located restaurant on the market square with lots of tables inside and outside. The menu is quite extensive: there is a lot on offer from tapas to burgers, salads and tarte flambée. My crispy chicken burger was really good -- freshly made, well seasoned and plenty on the plate. Friendly and quick service. It's worth it!

We had lunch at Ostfriesen with 4 people. The service was very friendly. The food came quickly and was extremely tasty. The burgers and bowls are absolutely recommended!

Hervorragendes Lokal. Hier kann man, was selten der Fall ist, auch eine VW Currywurst bestellen. Ich habe viele dieser Delikatessen in meinem Berufsleben bei VW gegessen. Diese hier kommt ihr geschmacklich sehr, sehr nah. Besonders hervorzuheben ist auch die Freundlichkeit des Personals. Hier ist besonders auch Mehdi zu nennen.

The food tasted quite good, the waiting time was quite short, but my dish was a bit too drowned in cheese sauce, so the fries became quite soggy. The 🍔 was very tasty!
