Der Ostfriese in Emden

I was in Emden for 10 days and ate here three times during this time - once for breakfast and twice for lunch. I can't say much about breakfast as I arrived a bit late. However, the buffet made a good impression and seemed sufficiently stocked. Even though the team had already started clearing away, the friendly staff still brought me everything I wanted. A great service that really stands out! The service is extremely courteous and strives to serve guests in a friendly and attentive manner. I ate here twice for lunch and it was worth every penny. Everything was so delicious that I returned the plate empty. On the first visit I chose a schnitzel while my friend chose a burger. He was thrilled and said the meat was particularly fresh and juicy. On the second visit I chose the Bolognese - it tasted delicious and reminded me of homemade quality. I will definitely come back when I'm in Emden again!

My son was invited there for his birthday. I had brought table decorations there days before. Unfortunately the table was still not decorated. The food was delicious. The staff leaves a lot to be desired. Dishes and glasses were not cleared away. Cutlery wasn't changed because we also had an appetizer. If we didn't get any spoons for the main course, spaghetti, despite asking, we had to get the spoons ourselves. The staff was not attentive and sometimes not motivated at all. Service desert.

Yesterday we were guests at the Ostfriesen, just WOW, thumbs up, very nice and friendly staff, not a long wait for service, we ordered tappas, very tasty 😋 Ambience really great 👍👍👍👍👍 We'll definitely be back. Greetings to the team and hosts.

Diverse food, something for everyone.

We had a chocolate cake, strawberry cake and hot chocolate. Super tasty. The cake had a warm liquid core and was served with vanilla ice cream and cream. The strawberry piece tasted refreshing and even though it was February, the strawberries tasted like summer. However, I found the price to be quite high, hence deducting a star. Still worth a visit.

We were there once for dinner and once for coffee and cake at lunchtime. In the evening we had burgers with fries. The food came really quickly (about 15 minutes). Fries and burgers were hot, aioli was really tasty (for me). The portion size was absolutely pleasant. The atmosphere is cozy, although a little tiring after a while. Today we were there for coffee and cake and had a high standard based on the reviews and the advertised portafilter machine. Unfortunately the cappuccino wasn't good. The milk foam is coarse-pored and not connected to the crema from the espresso. However, we immediately noted this in a friendly manner and immediately tried to create a new cappuccino. This one far exceeded the first one. But we believe there is more to it… especially with such a great machine. The cake was certainly not homemade but absolutely fine. Unfortunately the cocoa was lukewarm and had a lot of spray cream on it. In general, I really like cream, but more so when it's fresh whipped cream. The service was always very attentive and very friendly in customer contact. Unfortunately, after a visit there, the clothes smell very, very strongly of food. We would definitely come back again for a good burger. That was very tasty. At Cappuccino we are now hoping for the appropriate barista training or for more passion ;)

We were there spontaneously yesterday and were thrilled. Nice atmosphere, delicious food, nice service staff and very fond of children. We'll definitely come back again when we get close.

Das Café/Restaurant mitten in Emden hat eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre und äusserst freundliche Mitarbeiter.Wir waren zufällig hier,um ein Bier zu trinken.Die Preise sind moderat,das Ambiente sehr sauber.Beim nächsten Besuch in Emden werden wir gerne hier ein Abendessen bestellen.

By far the best customer service I have ever experienced! We had ordered takeaway, but unfortunately part of the order was forgotten. We only noticed this when we got home. After a short call in which I explained the problem, I was immediately offered to pick up the missing part. On site I not only received what I had forgotten, but also generous and incredibly tasty extras as an apology - and all on the house! A really nice experience that thrilled us. We'll definitely be back!

Great burgers, quick food preparation even though the place is full, nice staff

I don't understand the good reviews. Service was great. Nice reception, service nice and helpful. There's nothing to complain about there. But the food.....rarely eaten so badly. My wife had tarte flambée, which you can't really mess up. But it was more of a pizza with a thinner dough. Plus soggy and way too much cheese. I had a burger + fries. I specifically said that I wanted the fries to be crispy. The burger was maximally edible. But for almost 17 euros I would have expected more. The roll was of course just standard out of the bag. Lots of sauce so you don't taste too much. Oh well. The fries were soggy and cold. However, I complained about it and the nice lady apologized properly and said there were new ones. Then they came too. They were hot, but really, still mushy. My feeling: they were prepared and were just made hot again. Really: any bag of fries at home was better. However, the lady from the service took the criticism seriously and apologized. I probably wouldn't have written a review, but the food is still in my stomach... I really need to drink something now...

Due to the current 4.8/5 with over 2600 reviews, we wanted to test it. Conclusion disappointing. We had a tarte flambée and burgers. Unfortunately, tarte flambée was super salty and didn't taste what you would have expected. Half went back. Burger - big, juicy, ok. For dessert, cheesecake - drowned in a caramel (?) sauce. Here too, some things went back. Ambiance - tasteful! Lots of space between the tables and not every inch was used and crammed with tables. Plus point. Service - disappointing! Tens of people, but no one feels addressed. Instead, people have fun and joke around at the counter while the tables are full of empty dishes. Reorder drinks? None. The method of cashing in - I don't know. A bit very friendly and didn't ask if everything was okay. Apparently you don't care. All in all - €65 for 2 people - there should have been more.

I ordered 2 different breakfast boxes for 4 people. There were six of us. It was very rich, large selection and arrived on time. I can only recommend it!

Unfortunately we can't report anything about the food... only about the service 😟 We booked a table online for Christmas Eve. We also received a confirmation by email... I also called twice beforehand. Most recently three days ago! Literally: we are 1 million% up!! Just got the call on Christmas Eve... We're closing today at 3:00 p.m.... We relied on that and canceled everything else. Now here we are. Can't go anywhere else. It's a real shame, we are very disappointed with this restaurant.

The atmosphere is great, the price is also great, and the service was very friendly. The breakfast buffet was delicious, but it was rarely refilled and it took a long time. None, plates, glasses, rolls etc... it took up to 15 minutes to be refilled.

Much to our disappointment, the food was not as tasty as we had imagined. We chose the food based on a recommendation from the waitress, unfortunately it wasn't what we expected. Chicken schnitzel with French fries and mushroom cream sauce. Conclusion: fries were dry, chicken schnitzel was fried or fried for too long, and the cream sauce was far too little. The sanitary facilities are in the basement and when you went downstairs you were greeted by a strong smell. This in turn completely ruined the appetite for the food.

Spent a good 2 hours there, within the transition time from breakfast to normal operations. What I noticed was that the atmosphere in the team seemed to be really good, as there was so much joking among each other without forgetting the guests. The traces of breakfast were removed very quickly, including sweeping and mopping several times. Super good job. I can only classify the guest service as difficult to top without it seeming artificial. As far as the staff is concerned: the mix is ​​right! For food there was a burger with fries and mayo. A feast for the eyes and a treat for the palate. I thought about it for a long time and still think it was the best burger in the last ten years. So if someone thinks their people and team in the restaurant are good: take a look at it and think again about your self-assessment. We'd love to come back!

Ein tolles Restaurant mit freundlicher Bedienung, leckerem Essen und schöner Atmosphäre. Ostriesische Gerichte sucht man hier allerdings vergeblich. Vielmehr ist die Küche der Systemgastronomie von Extrablatt & Co. abgekupfert. Schade, neben "Bier-Pitch" und "Württembergischen Flammkuchen" hätte das Restaurant Potenzial regionale Gerichte anzubieten. Nach 1:30 Uhr mussten wir den Tisch räumen. Online-Reservierung sei Dank.

Based on the reviews we expected something different. We had to wait a long time for the food, unfortunately we were not informed that a company was taking up the entire operation. The food was simple. The salad particularly stood out. On Friday afternoon there was no more Coke.

The burgers we had were almost perfect. However, the patties were unfortunately too dry but it was a pleasure and the biggest burger of my life 😂 (Empire State Building) Pasta was also good Bolognese sauce on point with lots of parmesan!

Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. I had a schnitzel that tasted like fridge/freezer burn at one point. It felt like a microwaved schnitzel. It wasn't that bad, the fries were delicious and the service was nice and friendly. I just wanted a little final apology. The currywurst + salad was great, nothing to complain about, price performance was great.

Basically I like the East Frisian. The food is definitely good, the atmosphere is modern but of course always a matter of taste. The service can certainly be improved a bit. Although the young people are usually good-looking, well-groomed and friendly, they are often a bit slow and not overly attentive. Sometimes you have to be very active in order to be served. The breakfast buffet is great, but ultimately the service is only secondary and the focus is on the food. The tapas are also great, although unusual. In any case, don't expect Spanish tapas or Italian antipasti. It's more like fusion cuisine from all over the world.

We had a wonderful evening in a great atmosphere, with very tasty food and very courteous, nice and humorous service. And the drinks were served in beautiful glasses. Everything is freshly prepared and served with great attention to detail. The service is quick and professional, but always personal and warm. You can feel that people work here who really like to look after their guests and see the well-being of their visitors as their top priority. The interior is bright and friendly, with lots of wood and comfortable seating. There are quiet corners for a relaxed breakfast for two as well as larger tables for groups. The terrace is particularly beautiful.

There is a great ambience, very friendly, attentive staff and absolutely great food and delicious drinks. Above all, you get e.g. For a Cola with ice, a glass with ice cubes and an additional bottle of Cola. This means you don't get less for the same money just because you order with ice cream. 👌🏻

We were here for dinner and breakfast. The burgers are world class and the breakfast buffet is spectacular value for money. We particularly liked the additional oriental buffet. Staff very friendly and quick. The only thing that can be improved are the cocktails. They're relatively cheap, but not particularly good. 😅 We look forward to our next stay in Emden to come back here!
