We had a great evening on the "bridge" overlooking the Christmas market and Delft.

The food was very good as always, and the staff was relaxed. I can highly recommend the lightship.

On Boxing Day, we were a party of six. Our dog was also warmly welcomed. The service staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would gladly return and highly recommend the restaurant!

What a shame – the quality has declined drastically. The food and service have deteriorated significantly. We booked for a group, and despite having booked well in advance, we were greeted with something that wasn't available. Criticism of the menu quality was brushed aside. They seemed to think it was a matter of individual taste, which the kitchen didn't seem to share. Even though several guests found the food too salty during their tasting. The way they handled the criticism was unprofessional. Therefore, I won't be returning.

Friendly service and very good food. Getting a table on a Friday evening wasn't easy without a reservation, but the 15-minute wait was worth it. When food tastes so good, you naturally wish for larger portions, but this one was sufficient.

So...what can I say? I've never been to the restaurant, but I did visit the museum during Museum Night. To get into the museum, you first have to go down the stairs, and then you're there. You see how things are constructed and how they worked. You also learn a lot about seafaring and how things function. There are interactive exhibits and small rooms everywhere that you can peek into. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped, but it is a ship after all. You can touch many things or even sit on them, like the couches. You can also go up on the outside of the ship, and then you have a fantastic view of the Delft canal (especially when it's dark/getting dark). There's also a museum shop where I bought two pins. I can highly recommend this museum and will definitely come back, and maybe even have something to eat there next time. Update (August 2025): The food is absolutely delicious. I can recommend the Deutsche Bucht restaurant. The portions are huge and very tasty. The staff is also incredibly friendly and asks if everything is alright, etc., which is excellent service. The prices are also good, and everything is fresh. I can therefore highly recommend the restaurant and the museum.

The food was great. The rooms were a bit dark [it's a ship with small portholes, after all], but cozy.

Simply fantastic! Dining on a ship is quite unique, but the food itself is incredibly good and the staff is very friendly. They even remembered my special request, which I had made when making the reservation, a day later. The nautical charts on the tables are a real eye-catcher. Highly recommended for anyone in Emden looking for a place to eat.

Excellent 🥳 We're currently in Emden with a tour group for six days. In the evenings, everyone can do as they please; we chose the lightship for dinner. For starters, we chose the crab soup. It was delicious. The next course was mussels in tomato sauce. Excellent! The mussels stayed warm until the end, and the sauce was richly seasoned. Both were served with toasted ciabatta slices. Then we opted for bruschetta. There are so many things that can go wrong with bruschetta: the bread is too soggy, the bread is so toasted that it tears your gums open. The slices are too dry, the slices are dripping with oil. The tomatoes are too salty, the tomatoes are flavorless. Everything was perfect with this bruschetta!! Everything was harmoniously balanced and in just the right proportions -> 5 stars!!!! At the end, I couldn't resist a chocolate cake with fruit and vanilla ice cream. 5 stars again. We give this restaurant 5 stars for every meal we enjoyed. Try it for yourself!

We spontaneously stopped by Feuerschiff today and had a very good meal. Fresh ingredients and a wonderful presentation of them, with one fish dish and one tandoori dish. The service was Nordic-friendly, and the ambiance is very special. We didn't recognize the very large portions mentioned in other reviews, but we were definitely full. The prices are high, but appropriate for the special location. A special meal for us. Thank you very much.

We drove to Emden with eight people on a spontaneous trip and were lucky to get a table here without a reservation. The food was first-class, beautifully presented, and plentiful. The menu has something for everyone. The service is very attentive, friendly, and quick. The value for money is excellent. The next time we meet in Emden, we'll be back for dinner on the lightship.

Highly recommended for small children (2 & 4). There were even things to color in, including working crayons. The restrooms were first-class – just like everything else.

We were there with the family on a Sunday evening. Two adults and three children. It wasn't overly busy. We waited 1.5 hours for our food; those who had ordered directly before us had already finished eating, paid, and left. We don't know why it took so long, or whether we were forgotten... there was no information. The food was, unfortunately, very disappointing. The older children ordered an adult portion but only got a children's plate. For a restaurant that serves freshly caught fish, I would have expected the fish fingers to be homemade, but that wasn't the case. The schnitzels were okay, but nothing special. The tandoori dish was okay, but the sauce wasn't homemade either. But the most disappointing was the Argentinian rump steak for €34! The meat was ordered medium, but it was well done. There was no salt or pepper at the table to add more seasoning. The food was hot and freshly prepared, but nowhere near worth the money. At the end, there was another scoop of ice cream for the kids and a free shot of schnapps for the adults to thank them for the long wait. We went home very disappointed afterward.

Here, I was privileged to accompany a bride and groom to their civil wedding ceremony. The ship is a great place to relax, enjoy a meal and a drink, or visit the museum below to get a glimpse into what was once a busy place.

Eating here is worthwhile and an experience. At first we wanted to move on, but then "Oh, come on, let's go inside, it's something different to eat on a ship." No sooner said than done, and I have to say, even though we only got a seat on deck, since everything inside was taken, it was a good decision... I had the bread with aoli ​​as a starter and the schnitzel for the main course... The aoli ​​was very, very tasty.... The schnitzel was also delicious, but the fries (sorry for the expression) were mega-delicious.... I've never eaten such good fries.... but now I'm ready.... This restaurant is a pure marvel

You can visit the (museum) light ship for €2 and also eat there. We had a cozy evening in the restaurant. There are tables outside on board, but also inside and even a table up in the former command bridge. Overall, there aren't many tables, so if it gets fuller, a reservation might make sense. There is mainly fish, for example we really liked the “German Bay” fish platter.

Cleaning supplies on the counter/bar. Floor extremely dirty. (vacuuming??) We were there about 6 months ago and are never going back. Diarrhea after eating fatty fish... Were there with our dog. He could eat the leftovers of his many predecessors from the ground. Yuck. Friendliness nil. No smile, no kind word. We can't explain the many good applications when the competition in Leer is worlds better!

We sat in the interior (I assume it was the former lounge) at a nice table for two. The room is very nice, decorated for Christmas. The food, fish of course, was delicious, thanks to the kitchen crew. The two girls in service were unbeatably good. We made reservations in advance, which is probably necessary.

I had skantjes with fried potatoes and salad. The fish was super tasty, perhaps a sauce would have been good with it. But everything was really tasty. Tested the lightship... we are on fire 🔥 Appetizer: Smutjes starter plate and crab soup. Main course: 3 fish fillets from the day's catch (plaice, Cape pike, sharkbut) The appetizer plate is delicious, well stocked and enough for 2. The cabbage soup is a poem and perfectly balanced. Not intrusive and tastes very high! In the main courses, all the fish were cooked to perfection, juicy and finely balanced. Recommendation: Actually, you can recommend everything, but I would particularly like to highlight the crab soup. 5 stars +++ The staff attentive and very accommodating. Conclusion: An absolute recommendation for fish fans!

What a feeling to eat on an old fire department ship. Service and food was 1a. However, a reservation is highly recommended, especially in the evenings.
