Since our first visit (about two years ago) wasn't as successful as we thought, we decided to give it a second try. Once again, we encountered very friendly, courteous, and genuinely personable staff who made us feel appreciated, cared for, and very well looked after. Our food this time left nothing to complain about. All the dishes were visually well presented, tasted well, and arrived quickly from the kitchen to our table. Overall: a successful evening with delicious food and drinks, a pleasant atmosphere, and pleasant hosts. Thank you very much. We would be happy to come back.

Today, my wife and I were treated to a very special culinary evening at the Kretaner in Berlin – and we are absolutely thrilled! From the first greeting to the last sip of our espresso, we were served not only professionally but with genuine warmth. The food: a poem! Authentic Cretan, lovingly prepared, and full of flavors that bring the Greek sun straight to your heart ☀️🇬🇷 It was clear to us: Hospitality is lived here – not played. I've been a regular for 25 years, and I just had the best gyros of my life. Dimitri, Niko, and their team are simply fantastic! I've never been dissatisfied here; definitely the best Greek food in town!

Always great. We went to the Cretan restaurant again today and had a really nice evening. I'm writing this 5 star review because I found the always cheerful and positive young boss very sad today. I asked him what was wrong because I don't know him like that and he showed me the review from P.S Design. I have to honestly say that my wife and I were shocked by such a bad review and I'm going out on a limb and saying that I have to read hate speech about this really good restaurant. You should really be ashamed of yourself for writing something like that on your website @P.S Design anyone who doesn't even try to talk to the waiter or boss and writes something like that is just sad. And the biggest joke, you write that the gyros was bone dry and the chicken skewers were inedible, are you sure you went to the Cretan restaurant? Because what you've written here can't be true. And I can testify to that because I had the mix grill plate today and it was just great. And anyone who compares a Cretan to a snack bar makes me seriously doubt whether they were guests here. In that sense, everyone has the right to free speech, but I think people like you, who hide behind a shortened name and write things like that, can save their opinions.

Absolutely not recommended. The meat was overcooked, the gyro was bone dry, and the chicken skewers were also completely inedible. The taste was a complete failure – carelessly prepared and of poor quality. A disgrace for this price. The service? While friendly, it was obviously half-hearted and lacking in genuine commitment. There's a complete lack of passion – both in the kitchen and among the staff. Any kebab from a fast food restaurant tastes worlds better than what's served here. Very disappointing – maybe good once, but unfortunately, it's completely gone. I definitely won't be eating here again.

Addendum and response: Dear Mr. Psallidakis, I object to your claim that I made a disrespectful devaluation of your restaurant. Your very lengthy statement contains several inaccurate statements. I! didn't respond to your inquiry as to whether everything was okay. Someone from the circle certainly did – not me. I shared my impression of the food with you in my review. My sense of taste is not up for debate, and I didn't describe anything disrespectfully; I simply gave a factual impression. The fact that I finished the food wasn't due to the good taste you assume, but rather to the fact that it was my first meal of the day. That I'm not entirely alone in my impression can be seen from various other one-star reviews. And the tip was for your friendly service, not for the food.

The food and service are excellent

My husband and I have loved coming here for years. Whether indoors in the winter with the lovely fireplace or on the beautiful sun terrace in the summer. The quality and service here are top-notch. I can't understand the bad reviews on Google at all.

I went to the Cretan Restaurant with a few friends today. It was delicious, and the service was extremely attentive and friendly. We'll be back.

Not only is the food perfect here, but everything else is perfect too. From the very first second, we received very friendly and competent service. Upon request, we were immediately offered a nice table in the sunny, quiet outdoor area of the restaurant. The food didn't take long to arrive and fully met our expectations. Wine lovers will also find their money's worth here, with the selection truly extensive. Anyone looking for authentic Greek cuisine in Berlin will definitely find it here!

I don't quite understand these great reviews. A perfectly ordinary Greek restaurant. Service could be better. Our regular Greek restaurant gives us ouzo as a thank you. Even if it's only a small gesture. We won't eat there anymore. The gyros was very dry and expensive.

Some previous speakers spoke of the best Greek. Unfortunately, we absolutely cannot share this opinion. Although the ambience is very good and appears elegant, in my opinion this does not apply to the food. I think the photo says it all. I ordered bifteki with rice. The taste is not great and there is almost no feta in it and that for €22. This one came out like soup. The other people's food was also no reason to visit the store again. In our opinion, the side salad and the large salad for €20 were a ready-made mix. Unfortunately, all meals around €20 and more are not worth the money. Everything was just carelessly prepared and the taste was not what you would expect in such a noble ambience. Definitely won't be going here again. What was also strange was the long wait for the food even though there was almost nothing going on. However, the service can still be highlighted positively.

I recently went to a Cretan restaurant with my family and we really enjoyed the great service and the authentic, excellent-tasting Greek food. In particular, we have fond memories of the appetizer platter for two people and the very nice, younger waiter and we look forward to stopping by again on our next visit to Berlin!

Hello, I had dinner at the Kretaner again today. I have always been extremely satisfied with the service on the one hand and the quality of the food on the other. I already celebrated New Year's Eve there. But today was just wrong. I was too stupid to react properly. Just describe the situation. I ordered a rump steak, medium rare, and it was delivered to me well cooked. I complained. The complaint was accepted. But then the boss came to me and explained to me, using a raw steak, that it cannot be grilled until medium rare. As an experienced griller, I have now been able to grill a lot of dry aged steaks medium. I was surprised, but didn't react, after all there was 01 of the house burgundy at the house's expense. I'm annoyed because I reacted wrongly. I shouldn't have allowed myself to be wrapped up. Whatever it was, unfortunately it was the last time.

The location is nice - but that's all. Prices are very overpriced, but the portions are small and the taste is not convincing in any way. We won't be coming back.

We have been coming to the Kretaner for 15 years, have held various family celebrations here and it has almost always been a special experience. The ambience is very tasteful compared to many other Greek restaurants, in the summer it's nice to sit outside, the service from the new team is without exception very friendly, courteous and professional and the food is of very good quality. The gyros and puff pastry the other day were sensationally delicious, which even the children, who have plenty of restaurant experience, noticed. So, I can't share some of the very negative reviews. The prices are of course high, among other things because emphasis is placed on good meat and fresh preparation (e.g. "real" mashed potatoes). But in comparison it costs e.g. For example, our alternative Greek in Stahnsdorf, which cannot match the quality of the Cretan, now has almost as much, so that the choice falls more and more often on the Cretan. So, if you want to treat yourself to something special, we think you've come to the right place.

We once again ordered as a family from the Kretaner via Wolt! The price/performance ratio was a disgrace! Smallest portions at big prices. When we called we weren't greeted warmly on the phone either! Just two small examples: Feta Fournou for 11.90 consisted of 1 slice of tomato, 2 olives, 1 slice of onion and about 40 grams of feta Children's skewer with fries and ketchup for €8.90 consisted of 8 fries without ketchup and 25 grams of chicken! Unfortunately we cannot recommend the restaurant at all

The food is good, hence one star. The prices are high-end. No one asks if everything is okay. The service leaves a lot to be desired; when you say something, you're no longer noticed. We returned after three years (12/24), and the service was very good. The restaurant has changed for the better. We enjoyed the food. The prices have risen in line with general inflation.

The Kretaneer brings a piece of Crete directly to Berlin – and in an impressive way! The food is incredibly fresh, authentic and prepared with a lot of love. Every bite is reminiscent of an island vacation, from the flavorful olives to the perfectly cooked souvlaki. The quality of the ingredients is outstanding and you can taste it straight away. Particularly noteworthy is the variety of dishes - regardless of whether you are a meat lover, vegetarian or seafood fan, everyone will get their money's worth here. The service is warm and attentive, making you immediately feel welcome. The atmosphere at Kretaneer is just as charming – cozy, inviting and with a Mediterranean flair. If you want authentic Cretan cuisine without having to leave Berlin, you shouldn't miss this culinary treasure. For us an absolute highlight and a clear recommendation!

Wir haben zum wiederholten Mal einen Geburtstag mit Freunden im Kretaner gefeiert und es war wie immer perfekt. Sehr netter Service und sehr gutes Essen, alle waren begeistert.

The restaurant was absolutely perfect in every way. Food, service , atmosphere, staff helpful and kind. We had the chance to meet the owner Mr.Dimitris who welcomed us. And also the rest of the staff. Everything we ordered was delicious and their collection of wines was amazing. If you have the time this is a restaurant you must visit.

The last time we went to the Kretaner was several years ago, back then relatively often and we remembered the restaurant as excellent. The management must have changed since then: the location is still great, but unfortunately the high prices that were already high at the time are no longer justified by the high quality. Unfortunately, the food is only at budget level. The green dumplings we ordered weren't green, the cheese wasn't inside but on top, the sauce in all the dishes seemed to have the same weakly seasoned base, the gyro was quite hard. Unfortunately we won't be coming back and will mourn the old management. 2 stars just because of the great location.

The "Cretan" is one of the best Greeks in Berlin. Wonderful menu with rarer flavours. Great quality. Even the tzatziki tastes better here than anywhere else. Excellent wines. Also served open and by the glass. Highly recommended.

Once upon a time (a few years ago) there was a very good restaurant. Not cheap, but always worth it; we were there often. A few days ago our visit felt like a disaster. Short version: We found two hairs in the food, once in the grilled shrimp and once in the bread basket. The beer glass had lipstick residue. I don't like arguments, so I quietly eliminated everything without addressing it. The service was careless and not as warm as before. Oil, salt and pepper were cleared away, and the empty dishes remained on the table - as if they wanted us to move faster. I don't think I'll be back...

We are often and happy to be there

We spent a lovely evening as a large group at De Kretener. Despite not having booked in advance, nothing was too much trouble. Nico in particular was a superb host, who spoke perfect English and had a great sense of humour

We spent a weekend in Berlin and were happy with the accommodation. The rooms correspond to the description. The people there are all very nice and helpful. The fact that there is no breakfast is not a problem, as there is a bakery directly opposite where you can have breakfast. The Greek restaurant is highly recommended. I suspect it wasn't the last time we were there

Menu with not too many Greek dishes. Delicious large appetizer platter and then gyros. It's hard to understand why some people rated the gyro so poorly, it was very tasty and juicy. It's lovely to sit on the terrace

We visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday and found the atmosphere to be very friendly and inviting. However, the food on offer is a stark disparity between price and quality! The gyro was hard and tasted like it had been warmed up under a thick layer of onions. The fries were extremely greasy and also like they had been warmed up. All this for a price of almost €20!! The starter, a small piece of pulpo (squid) on a dollop of pea puree, carelessly arranged for also €20... WOW! We won't be going here again and don't understand why so many guests are obviously being ripped off with positive reports.

Ein griechisches Restaurant mit schön gestaltetem Innenbereich, Tischdecken und -beleuchtung und großer Außenterasse. Juwetzi Arni und Panna Cotta schmeckten gut. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam und freundlich.

Selten so schlecht gegessen. Dazu passt der arrogante und lustlose Service. Nie wieder!

Wie wäre es mit einem Glaserl Wein? Oder einem leckeren, kretanischen Salat oder Essen? Hier isst man richtig bei einem Familienunternehmen. Nett und freundlich sind sie alle. Das Essen ist lecker und einfallsreich. Im Sommer sitzt es sich gemütlich und geschützt im Vorgarten.

Ihr Lieben, es war wieder einmal absolut großartig bei Euch! Das Essen mit Spargel, Huhn uns Bulgur ist (wie immer) einsame spitze, die Mezes exzellent, die Getränke sind ein Traum....! :-) Und natürlich, Ihr als Team, seid einfach Klasse! Service: recht nett Essen... schaut Euch mal das Bild "Lammhaxe" auf der Homepage an am besten mitnehmen/Online aufrufen und mit der Wirklichkeit auf dem angelieferten Teller vergleichen... .. da wir hungrig waren haben wir gegessen, was am Tisch angeliefert wurde.. Reklamation erschien uns sinnlos. Ev. wars auch nur ein schlechter Tag für den Koch oder gewisse Zutaten/Gewürze aktuell nicht verfügbar

Erstklassige Küche, die auch wirklich Gerichte anbietet, die so auf Kreta serviert werden können. Der Service ist fantastisch. Über Lesebrillen für die Speisekarte (falls die eigene mal vergessen wurde) bis zum immer gefüllten Glas Wein (bei einer Flasche) ist alles fantastisch. Gern immer wieder.

Man weiß gar nicht wo man mit dem Lob anfangen soll. Die Zimmer sind klein, aber modern und stilvoll eingerichtet. Es fehlt an nichts und jeder zusätzliche Wunsch wird gern erfüllt. Eine kleine Terrasse zum Hinterhof lädt zum Sterne gucken ein. Das Restaurant ist zauberhaft eingerichtet, die große Terrasse ist voller Blumen und Lichter und passt wunderbar in dir ruhige Umgebung. Und nun zum Highligh - das Essen ist einfach ein Genuss. Von der kleinen Vorspeise bis zum Hauptgericht alles lecker, liebevoll zubereitet und angerichtet. Leckerer Wein und sehr freundliche und aufmerksames Personal runden den tollen Eindruck ab. Großes Lob und vielen Dank!

Wer nicht nur einfach zum Griechen möchte, der Kretaner ist die richtige Adresse. Habe Moussaker gegessen, sehr lecker.

Ich war das 1. MAL hier und sehr begeistert! Ein schönes Lokal, mit vielen unterschiedlichen Tischen, in einer schön gestalteten Außenanlage. Die Getränke wurden sofort aufgenommen und auch das Essen konnte schnell bestellt werden! Das Brot, wurde mir beigebracht, wird in das tolle Olivenöl getunkt, dass auf dem Tisch bereits steht. In das Olivenöl ein wenig Salz und Pfeffer, das schmeckt richtig toll! Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut und auch die Kellner sehr freundlich und kompetent! Fazit: Sehr empfehlenswert, weil es einfach schmeckt!

Wir waren heute das erste mal beim Kretaner und es wird bestimmt nicht das letze mal sein. Das essen war vorzüglich meine Freundin hatte das Gyros was mit Abstand das beste Gyros war was sie bisher gegessen hat und ich hatte die Lammhaxe die ebenfalls ausgezeichnet war. Der service war super und das Ambiente ist einfach der hammer. Kann diese schlechten Rezessionen hier garnicht nachvollziehen.

Nach langer Zeit mal wieder im Kretaner waren wir nicht ganz überzeugt. Die Grillplatte überzeugte nicht ganz da das Gyros etwas trocken war. Die Preise waren unseres Erachtens auch sehr hoch gestochen für die Qualität der Speisen. Auch ein besonders netter Kellner kann das nicht mehr rausreißen. Also werden wir doch bei unseren Griechen bleiben.

Attente particulièrement longue (1h) pour 1 salade 1 gyros et des légumes cuits , une erreur de commande bien gérée, une viande trop sèche. Ni dans la présentation ni dans les saveurs nous n'avons retrouvé ne serait-ce que le plaisir d un restaurant grec du 5-6eme arrondissement de Paris. Cote positif: Ouvert un Dimanche soir . Boissons 3 bières . Tot 60 Eur. Rapport qualité prix en dessous de la moyenne des restaurants de notre séjour.

Darf ich ihre Antwort so deuten.....wenn man eingeladen ist darf man nicht seine Meinung sagen? Die Speisekarte war recht klein und unübersichtlich. Wir gehen oft zum Grie so wenig Auswahl haben wir bis jetzt noch nicht erlebt. Das bestellte Essen ließ lange auf sich warten (so ca. 1 Stunde) Der Mix-Grillteller war von der Portionsgröße ok , jedoch war das Fleisch extrem trocken. Der kleine und recht geschmacklose Klacks Tzatziki hat auch nichts rausgerissen. Der Eisbecher hielt auch nicht alles wie auf der Speisekarte beschrieben, statt 3 Kugeln gab es nur 2 und die Becher war recht lieblos angerichtet. Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht , es ist viel zu Überteuert! Positiv zu bewerten sind die Kellner. Vorläufig werden wir dort nicht mehr Essen.

Had a really stressful day. Came here and had moussaka. Service really good, very nice staff. Moussaka was delicious. Dine here. We did not get a room so i dont know what to rate rooms (pretty sure its a restaurant)

Ich kenne viele Griechen in Berlin und dieses Restaurant ist das bisher teuerste. Es liegt in einer nobleren Wohngegend direkt an der U-Bahn. Das Restaurant ist recht klein, aber sehr schön ausgestattet und hat einen Holzkamin. Bereits beim betreten spürt man, dass das Ambiente gehoben ist. Man kann schnell das Gefühl bekommen underdressed zu sein. Auch die Bedienung war aufmerksam und höflich. Leider auch etwas zu schnell und damit schon etwas aufdringlich, sodass ich ganz vergessen habe, eine Vorspeise zu wählen. Soweit so gut. 3 Sterne deshalb, weil zum einen sind die Preise deutlich über dem Niveau anderer Griechen, zum anderen sind die Speisen weder qualitativ hochwertiger, noch von der Menge her größer. Ganz im Gegenteil. Die Portionen sind leider sehr mager und man wird davon nicht richtig satt. Das Knoblauch Tomatenbrot ist mehr ein Bruschetta wie beim Italiener, aber mit 5 wirklich hauchdünnen Brotscheibchen und kaum was drauf. Bei anderen Griechen gibts richtig schönes Brot mit dickem Belag drauf. Für 5,90€ leider eine Enttäuschung. Die Hauptspeise (Bifteki) enthält zwar noch einen Salat vorab, der auch lecker war (wenn auch klein), aber auf dem Teller waren nur zwei kleine Biftekis in kleiner Bouletten Größe und eine Hand voll Pommes. Für saftige 19,50€. Natürlich wird man davon nicht satt. Ein Gemischtes Eis hinterher für 6,50€ (man gönnt sich ja sonst nichts), enthielt auch nur 3 kleine Kugeln Eis, etwas Sahne und eine Waffel. Das Eis schmeckte alt bzw. hart und hatte viele Eiskristalle. Also günstiges Convenience Eis aus dem Großhandel. Mal zum Vergleich. Bei anderen Griechen zahle ich 3-4€ für deutlich mehr Knoblauchbrot und Tomate, ca. 16-17€ für Bifteki mit einem viel größeren Bifteki und mehr Pommes und gemisches Eis gibt es woanders eher um die 4€. Auch mein Alster 0,5L kostete rund 5€. Utopisch. Am Ende hatte ich fast 37€ zu zahlen + Trinkgeld. Für die selbe bzw. für eine größere Menge hätte ich woanders deutlich unter 30€ gezahlt und qualitativ war es hier wirklich nichts anderes. Man zahlt also die Lage, das Ambiente mit einem saftigen Aufpreis und kleinen Portionen. Meins ist es nicht. Wären die Portionen angemessen gewesen, wäre ich positiver gestimmt gewesen, aber ich mag es nicht ein Restaurant zu verlassen, wenn man noch Appetit hat ;-)

As a Greek myself, I appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and the perfect service. Our server was absolutely helpful, as he suggested us good options. Keep up the good work, totally recommended.

Sehr guter Service, gutes Essen und eine interessante Speisekarte. Es ist wirklich schön hier zu sitzen. Und im Gegensatz zum klassischen Griechen ist man nachher nicht völlig übersättigt. Eher feine Küche als grosser Grillteller.

Die Auswahl der Karte bietet traditionelle und frische Speisen, und egal ob man außen oder innen sitzt, der Ort ist wunderschön. Neben dem Restaurant werden sogar Produkte, welche für die Gerichte benutzt werden, verkauft. Das war ein sehr gutes Erlebnis, gerne noch mehr!

Check-in und -out haben bestens geklappt, obwohl am Montag das dazugehörende Restaurant geschlossen war. Zimmer neu, hübsch und in Ordnung, Bad ebenso. Standort für unseren Aufenthalt ideal mit U3-Bahnhof und Bushaltestellen vor dem Haus. Auch in einem Zimmer auf die Strasse war es nachts ruhig. Schade, dass wir die mediterrane Küche nicht ausprobieren konnten, da wir für Verwandten-Besuch in Berlin waren.

Keine Empfehlung! Von vier Essen waren drei eine echte Zumutung, das "überbackene Gyros" erinnerte stark an ein fettiges Schmorgericht, das "normale" Gyros war trocken, ebenso die Reisnudeln als Beilage. Die Vorspeisen waren lieblos serviert und wenig schmackhaft. Für das Preisniveau eine absolute Enttäuschung

Das Essen, ich hatte ein Maishähnchen mit Gemüse, war sehr gut....uns hat es sehr gut gefallen, toller Service.

Wir sind des Öfteren dort und werden immer herzlich empfangen und bewirtet. So wie man es sich wünscht. Die Weine sind vorzüglich, das Essen immer abwechslungsreich und köstlich. Vielen Dank an das ganze Team

We have stayed here twice. The rooms are functional with no frills such as air con. Bathroom was separate across a private corridor and of a good size. Rooms are clean. Good value for money. No breakfast, but very good café just opposite. Great welcome from owners and staff

Der Kretaner ist mehr als eine Reise wert!

This was such a wonderful surprise. Amazing food, the service was 5 stars! It is so rare to find such a treasure in Berlin. If you are going to the lake, Krumme Lanke, and you plan on having dinner in the area, go here!!

Leider sehr enttäuschend.... 3 Gerichte und alle unterer Durchschnitt. Wir können die guten Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen. Vielleicht hatten wir auch nur Pech, dass der Koch nicht auf der Höhe an dem Tag war.

Eines der besten griechischen Restaurants in Berlin. Fantastische Speisen und ausgezeichneter Wein.

Der Kartoffelpüree war sehr weich und sah aus als wäre es nur mit einen Stab gemacht worden. Die Haxe war geschmacklich ok. Der Salat war lecker. Beim Nudelgericht war das Fleisch sehr klein und zu doll gegart. Sonst vollkommen ok.

Zur Begrüßung würden wir in einer überheblichen Art gefragt, ob wir reserviert hätten. Das Lokal war innen ganz leer... Die Bedienung vom Kellner war freundlich. Das Essen war okay, aber viel zu teuer!

Unser Lieblingsgrieche - gemütlich und lecker. Die gute Küche lädt jederzeit zum Wiederkommen ein. Dazu sehr freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung - das lässt keine Wünsche offen. Das Kaminzimmer ist besonders atmosphärisch. Wer noch nicht hier war, sollte ruhig mal einen Besuch wagen,

Wie immer sehr lecker gewesen. Auch in Covid - 19 Zeiten muss man kreativ sein um sein Geschäft am Laufen zu halten, das unterstützt man gerne. Anrufen, essen vorbestellen, abholen und zu Hause genießen! Ein Punkt ist verbesserungswürdig, es könnte mehr Tzazki dazu geben :) Ansonsten freuen wir uns auf das nächste mal! 18.07.2020 Heute wieder hier gewesen, war wie immer mega lecker. Vorzügliche kretanische Küche. 23.04.2023 Neue Karte, wie immer leckeres Essen, sehr freundlicher Service, Preise aber sehr sehr hoch... Über 20 Euro für eine kleine Portion Moussaka sind schon sehr extrem... Daher ein Stern Abzug!

The restaurant "Der Kretaner" was a pleasant surprise in many ways! Really nice place, warm and cozy atmosphere and, excellent service! The food is delicious, with flavors and aromas of my beloved home-island, Crete. An excellent collection of Greek wines is also available and worth to taste. Do not skip the desert menu!

Gute Küche, guter Service, sehr zu empfehlen. Mit der BVG gut zu erreichen, Parkplätze sind im Wohngebiet zu finden.

I have already visited this wonderful restaurant and since then I noticed many positive changes,the rooms are renovated and the service is of great value! Thank you for your hospitality and I am looking forward to my next visit!
