The wait for the main course was far too long. Stupid answers to questions. Some of the food was cold. Unfortunately, it was disappointing.

We were there for dinner with 4 people. The appetizer came before the drinks. The food was good but nothing special. Overall, there was a stressful atmosphere, it was very loud and some waiters seemed quite overwhelmed. The location with a view of the pier is great.

Great restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere right behind the dike. Creative, seasonal cuisine with many vegetarian and vegan options. The service is consistently friendly and attentive – dogs are also welcome. A real highlight, especially in the evening: large window fronts and a beautiful terrace with a view of the sunset. Modern ambience, relaxed vibe and perfect location for anyone who wants to combine good food with a seaside feeling and a dog. Absolutely recommended!

We had a lovely evening at Deichkind. The food and wine were great, unfortunately the service was only partially good. We kept having to wait a long time to get our waitress's attention, even though it wasn't very busy; and although when asked if we wanted dessert immediately afterwards, we answered “Not yet, but gladly later.” We were later told that we were now too late to order a dessert. We would have really liked a hint!

Deichkind absolutely convinced us with the excellent quality of the food - fresh, creative and tasteful at a high level! We were particularly pleasantly surprised by the speed of the kitchen - as soon as we ordered, the food was already on the table. However, this is exactly what left us with a slightly rushed feeling, as if we had to clear the table soon. A little more time to enjoy would have been nice. We would also like to highlight the service staff, who were extremely polite, attentive and warm - we felt welcome. A highly recommended restaurant with great food – we would love to come back!

My husband and I were guests at Deichkind last year. We appreciate the creativity and quality of the cuisine. Whether vegan or fish, every dish is a very pleasant surprise. First-class cuisine, very friendly staff, great service and a cozy atmosphere in a tasteful ambience. Vacation without a bed at Deichkind is unthinkable.

Nicely located, right on the promenade.

The vegan burger is very tasty. I was there several times within a weekend, thanks to the modern atmosphere and the very nice staff. Because the vegan options are great for the North Sea! There are only 3 stars for the service because you had to wait a long time and the service was often not that attentive. The front part of the Deichkind (entrance on the left) is nicer because it is brighter and glazed so that you have a view of the square in front of the dike.

Very nice and clean restaurant. Unfortunately we had to wait over an hour for our food only to be disappointed to find that the lukewarm dishes were not edible. The burger patty was still almost bloody and the lamb was riddled with squishy fat and also smelled old. When asked about this, the service staff reacted inappropriately and unreasonably: "That would be so normal..." so I would advise every hungry guest not to go to this restaurant. It's a shame about all the money, it's 100 percent not worth it here.

We have now been to SPO for the second time and can recommend Deichkind with full conviction. The food, the service and the location deserve at least 5 stars. 👍👍👍👍👍

The table buffet is an experience!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary there and received a voucher for a table buffet from our children. At first the table wasn't big enough for a buffet, but this was sorted out at short notice. Table buffet was extremely tasty.

We have the best weather here Sat for 2 1/2 hours with ice cream, latte macchiato and cold drinks and had a wonderful afternoon.. The menu seemed to me to have something for every taste - there are no classic ice cream sundaes in the form of spaghetti ice cream, strawberry sundaes, etc., but there are at least 5 delicious varieties that are attractively served. If you want something different, you just have to go to an ice cream parlor. But there were only shady places and it wasn't that comfortable 🙃😇 In terms of price - well, you're in SPO, you're on vacation and you're just treating yourself. But I didn't think the pricing was excessive. Both of our service staff were very nice and humorous. Definitely recommended.

Super great food and very pleasant service.

First of all…. Great!! My wife started with a Lillet Berry, which was quite tasty. I was able to call a flotsam beginner my own, rum, liqueur 43, rhubarb juice and prosecco. Strong mixture, in short I was thrilled!!! Shared starter, sashimi salmon on leafy vegetables with teriyaki, a real Highland dish. At €17, it's not a snapper, but it's damn tasty. Main course: Burger with delicious cheese and sweet potato fries, my wife was happy. I had a super tasty lentil curry (18€). It was great, I wish there had been a higher proportion of lentils, it was very carrot-heavy. The whole thing was rounded off by friendly service staff who are equally qualified. One of the best addresses in SPO 👍🏼

This was my second visit to Deichkind, and it confirmed the first great impression. From the hospitality to the delicious food to the kick-off across the mudflats, it was a fantastic experience! Highly recommended.

We usually eat here whenever we spend a few days here. We've never been disappointed. Everything is delicious and reasonably priced, with generous portions and very friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere.

The day before yesterday we had dinner at deichkind. At the beginning it was fantastic weather and we weren't afraid. to get more space. However, despite many reservations, options were suggested to us and we were given a table. Even before we ordered we received two slices of very tasty warm farmer's bread. We ordered the morzarella and the shrimp as a starter. The mozzarella came with a very tasty salad and I was very impressed. My husband got the shrimp, which came with a delicious salad and a slice of farmer's bread topped with sauces, my husband says it was a dream. For the main course I had the original Wiener Schnitzel with sweet potato fries and carrots in cream. These came in a separate pot and were freely seasoned. My husband got a burger that was perfectly cooked as ordered. So delicious Although we were already full, we had to have a dessert: pana cotta with two kinds of rhubarb and chocolate mousse with berries, so well prepared and a great ending. Finally, I would like to mention that both children, I was able to observe that they were allowed to type in their own dish on the tablet, and dogs, which were given a place with enough lounge space and water, are welcome guests. We'll definitely come back when we're on the corner.

Prime location right on the beach promenade, nice to sit outside, nice service, creative cuisine and a modern ambience to feel good 1 point deducted from the meal for the mushroom bratwurst, unfortunately I didn't like it at all, sorry 🙈

It's always a pleasure to enjoy a nice meal at Deichkind! Everything is just right from start to finish! We always like to go in the off-season to fully enjoy the quieter vibe.

The salad was delicious. There were lots of croutons on it. The dish with the organic spelled noodles was bitter, some of the noodles were raw. It tasted like it was already bad. The lentil curry was okay. Although the price is high. 17 euros. Service top ♡♡♡

We had lunch at Deichkind today. Unfortunately, I have to say that I was very disappointed after really loving the breakfast buffet. The service was very inattentive, slow and forgetful. The schnitzel was more of a schnitzel and was comparatively expensive and the taste of our four dishes was all rather mediocre. Too bad.

The Deichkind offers regional dishes and places particular emphasis on vegetarian and vegan cuisine. But fish and meat are also served and are highly recommended.

Nice restaurant with a great beach ambience, we enjoy it in the best weather at the beginning of March 2025. Various meals are offered from starters to sweet potato fries to main courses, also vegan. Cyclists might miss a small tapas plate with olives, chips and the like to accompany the rhubarb spritzer or non-alcoholic wheat. But even without it we will definitely come back.

We were here for coffee around 4:45 p.m. There was probably a change in the offerings, which is why all the service staff were extremely busy (resetting the tables, clearing away cakes, setting up the terrace) and there was no food. But that didn't bother us as we were still served nicely and were able to enjoy our coffee with a great view of the sunset. However, it can get very crowded in the afternoon, which is why I would recommend making a reservation! (Also to try the cake, which looked so extremely good! :)

Our standard restaurant when we are in St. Peter. The vegan options are terrific and definitely something that most completely vegan restaurants don't offer. We like to come back again and again.

We spontaneously went to Deichkind for dinner this evening and had a great time. The ambience is dignified and upscale, with a pleasant atmosphere. We received a warm welcome, were given a nice table and were well looked after by the friendly and attentive staff. The service was excellent: quick, professional and always with a smile. From the aperitif to the starter to the main course, everything was perfectly coordinated. The dishes were prepared to a high standard, tasted to the point and were served in a timely manner. Particularly noteworthy are the potatoes that my partner ordered - simply great! The only small point of criticism is the somewhat manageable menu. It offers a great selection for vegetarians and vegans, but for lovers of hearty dishes or meat there are few options. If you want to eat here more often, it could quickly become a bit monotonous. Nevertheless: Anyone who values ​​first-class food, a beautiful ambience and excellent service is in good hands at Deichkind. We'd love to come back!

We were there on December 4th. in the restaurant and I was looking forward to half the duck. I ordered chickpea fries in advance... they were sticky and very fat, scary. I can't imagine that's what it's supposed to be like? I felt sorry for the free-range duck... it didn't deserve that... dry, tough, flaky skin, with a bad brown sauce... that was naughty. The red cabbage was ok, the dumplings, well. The whole thing for just under €30. However, the service was great... a blessing for the restaurant. She tried to save the situation and wanted to report it to the kitchen... unfortunately the chef didn't come to explain it? Finally, we were invited to a nightcap.

Very courteous staff, came to Sankt Peter Ording at short notice and even got a table for two people at very short notice. Very big advantage, very dog ​​friendly. Our two little French bulldogs were welcomed with open arms and very warmly. Let's get to the food: we had the Wienerschnitzel, and it was excellent. Very good meat, homemade breading and the side dishes are also appropriately selected. We also had a wasabi cucumber salad, which tasted fantastic. Price performance absolutely reasonable. We can only recommend this restaurant!

We were there for dinner in November 2024 and chose the veal schnitzel, which was brought to the table extremely quickly. Both had the feeling that it was not prepared in the pan but in the deep fryer. Unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. Empty plates were not cleared and unused wine glasses were put away. The ambience is otherwise very nice.

I thought about giving it 2 or 3 stars for a long time, but then I decided to give it a worse rating. A little over a month after our planned visit, I wanted to reserve a table for the breakfast buffet by email. The occasion was our 10 year wedding anniversary. The reservation was confirmed by email, we look forward to seeing us. When we showed up at the Deichkind for the scheduled appointment, we were greeted with the words “Actually, we don’t make reservations for external guests during the week”. When I wanted to show my confirmation by email, the service looked into the reservation system again and told us that we should look for a table. Since there were of course many hotel guests present, we found one last free table (apart from the high tables) with a view of the dark wooden wall, where we sat down. The next service person first asked us for the room number and then briefly and succinctly explained for us outside oddballs how the buffet works and what we can order from her. I then lit the tea light myself for some wedding day feeling. Even when we were finished, had paid €28.90 per person and once again expressed our disappointment about the unsuccessful reservation, no one really cared. The dishes from the breakfast buffet were all very tasty and the selection is varied, even for vegans. And there is champagne to toast with - my highlight. I don't think we'll choose the Deichkind again.

Wir dachten zuerst, dass es in dem schönen Restaurant sicher sehr teuer sein müsste - schließlich war Hochsaison und überall voll - und waren über die angemessenen Preise doch positiv überrascht. Wir haben als Familie (5 Personen) Kaffee und Kuchen bestellt - und waren platt, wie groß die Kuchen-Stücke waren ! Und super lecker ! Auch vegan war kein Problem. Die Bedienung schnell und freundlich - wir waren alle sehr zufrieden !

We were at the Deichkind Restaurant on a Friday evening - it was well attended, a reservation is recommended. The service was friendly, but it took some time for our food order to be taken. The food was okay, except that the pasta in the truffle loaf arrived at the table almost cold. All in all it was okay, but we weren't satisfied with the prices quoted and would therefore probably not come back again.

Was für eine tolle Location in unmittelbarer Nähe zur Seebrücke! Helle Räumlichkeiten mit viel Chance auf einen Platz an der Sonne für Kaffee & Kuchen. Der Kuchen hat uns umgehauen! So lecker! Und die Stücke riesig. Freundlicher Service. Wir sind happy.

At €40 for a steak I expected better quality, unfortunately it was tough at times and the fries weren't hot. But the service was perfect.

The restaurant itself is relatively cozy and the service was nice. Unfortunately the food was very bad. The starters were great, but all four main courses we ordered were really bad. Some of the food tasted warmed up, the (veggie) burger consisted of a pita bread with the patty on top (why?), the bratwurst with mushrooms was completely split open and hidden under lettuce and puree. The carrots weren't tasty and were served in huge pieces, and unfortunately every dish was a bit too salty. Even the salad wasn't fresh… Not recommended for eating out. The drinks and appetizers were good.

We came with great expectations. Unfortunately, these ultimately did not come true. The pumpkin soup was very fatty and hardly tasted like pumpkin. The homemade pasta with truffles from the cheese wheel was delicious in itself, but unfortunately the dishes as a whole were completely over salted. The veal schnitzel was good, but the side dish (creamed vegetables) was overcooked and it didn't really go well with the dish. We found the prices to be too high for that. We would have liked to express our criticism, but we weren't even asked how it tasted and were just quickly cashed in. Too bad!

If you don't want to be in a very loud and echoing café and between loud children (parents should think about their upbringing), you can't get cake outside of the house. Statement from the boss in a very unfriendly tone: we have to be able to offer the tourists something. You can pre-order for tomorrow (Monday)! Sure, locals don't go to work either. Conclusion - cheers for the tourists, locals don't bring in any money. As in almost all of SPO - everything for the tourists 👍

Schönes Lokal in bester Lage. Die Ausstattung ist sehr schön, wenn es voll ist wird es etwas lauter. Mit Hunden sollte man kein Problem haben, denn diese dürfen hier vom Strand wie sie sind direkt mit rein. Der Service ist bei uns aufmerksam gewesen. Leider kommt das Essen sehr schnell, was uns immer irritiert und ist lauwarm. Für das Preisniveau würde ich mir etwas mehr geschmackliche Raffinesse bei einem Kartoffelstampf wünschen. Aber alles in allem aber gut, vor allem die Weinauswahl passt.

We had coffee and cake there and it was really tasty. There were always - by default - 2 small pieces 🍰. The prices are okay for the location. The only drawback: everything was full of tables. When there's a lot going on, you can't understand your own words.
