In the Ramen for a birthday, all wishes were fulfilled, super rich food, very cozy atmosphere, all the service employees were very courteous and extremely nice. We'd love to come back!😊

We were there on December 4th. in the restaurant and I was looking forward to half the duck. I ordered chickpea fries in advance... they were sticky and very fat, scary. I can't imagine that's what it's supposed to be like? I felt sorry for the free-range duck... it didn't deserve that... dry, tough, flaky skin, with a bad brown sauce... that was naughty. The red cabbage was ok, the dumplings, well. The whole thing for just under €30. However, the service was great... a blessing for the restaurant. She tried to save the situation and wanted to report it to the kitchen... unfortunately the chef didn't come to explain it? Finally, we were invited to a nightcap.

Very courteous staff, came to Sankt Peter Ording at short notice and even got a table for two people at very short notice. Very big advantage, very dog ​​friendly. Our two little French bulldogs were welcomed with open arms and very warmly. Let's get to the food: we had the Wienerschnitzel, and it was excellent. Very good meat, homemade breading and the side dishes are also appropriately selected. We also had a wasabi cucumber salad, which tasted fantastic. Price performance absolutely reasonable. We can only recommend this restaurant!

We were there for dinner in November 2024 and chose the veal schnitzel, which was brought to the table extremely quickly. Both had the feeling that it was not prepared in the pan but in the deep fryer. Unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. Empty plates were not cleared and unused wine glasses were put away. The ambience is otherwise very nice.

I thought about giving it 2 or 3 stars for a long time, but then I decided to give it a worse rating. A little over a month after our planned visit, I wanted to reserve a table for the breakfast buffet by email. The occasion was our 10 year wedding anniversary. The reservation was confirmed by email, we look forward to seeing us. When we showed up at the Deichkind for the scheduled appointment, we were greeted with the words “Actually, we don’t make reservations for external guests during the week”. When I wanted to show my confirmation by email, the service looked into the reservation system again and told us that we should look for a table. Since there were of course many hotel guests present, we found one last free table (apart from the high tables) with a view of the dark wooden wall, where we sat down. The next service person first asked us for the room number and then briefly and succinctly explained for us outside oddballs how the buffet works and what we can order from her. I then lit the tea light myself for some wedding day feeling. Even when we were finished, had paid €28.90 per person and once again expressed our disappointment about the unsuccessful reservation, no one really cared. The dishes from the breakfast buffet were all very tasty and the selection is varied, even for vegans. And there is champagne to toast with - my highlight. I don't think we'll choose the Deichkind again.

Wir dachten zuerst, dass es in dem schönen Restaurant sicher sehr teuer sein müsste - schließlich war Hochsaison und überall voll - und waren über die angemessenen Preise doch positiv überrascht. Wir haben als Familie (5 Personen) Kaffee und Kuchen bestellt - und waren platt, wie groß die Kuchen-Stücke waren ! Und super lecker ! Auch vegan war kein Problem. Die Bedienung schnell und freundlich - wir waren alle sehr zufrieden !

We were at the Deichkind Restaurant on a Friday evening - it was well attended, a reservation is recommended. The service was friendly, but it took some time for our food order to be taken. The food was okay, except that the pasta in the truffle loaf arrived at the table almost cold. All in all it was okay, but we weren't satisfied with the prices quoted and would therefore probably not come back again.

Was für eine tolle Location in unmittelbarer Nähe zur Seebrücke! Helle Räumlichkeiten mit viel Chance auf einen Platz an der Sonne für Kaffee & Kuchen. Der Kuchen hat uns umgehauen! So lecker! Und die Stücke riesig. Freundlicher Service. Wir sind happy.

At €40 for a steak I expected better quality, unfortunately it was tough at times and the fries weren't hot. But the service was perfect.

The restaurant itself is relatively cozy and the service was nice. Unfortunately the food was very bad. The starters were great, but all four main courses we ordered were really bad. Some of the food tasted warmed up, the (veggie) burger consisted of a pita bread with the patty on top (why?), the bratwurst with mushrooms was completely split open and hidden under lettuce and puree. The carrots weren't tasty and were served in huge pieces, and unfortunately every dish was a bit too salty. Even the salad wasn't fresh… Not recommended for eating out. The drinks and appetizers were good.

Great restaurant with fantastic food and extremely friendly service. Prices are not cheap, but you should try it out.

We came with great expectations. Unfortunately, these ultimately did not come true. The pumpkin soup was very fatty and hardly tasted like pumpkin. The homemade pasta with truffles from the cheese wheel was delicious in itself, but unfortunately the dishes as a whole were completely over salted. The veal schnitzel was good, but the side dish (creamed vegetables) was overcooked and it didn't really go well with the dish. We found the prices to be too high for that. We would have liked to express our criticism, but we weren't even asked how it tasted and were just quickly cashed in. Too bad!

Great location to spend time. There was a selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. The food was good. Unfortunately, the café was served lukewarm and there was no alternative to milk when asked.

Unfriendly boss and employees. If you don't want to be in a very loud and echoing café and between loud children (parents should think about their upbringing), you can't get cake outside of the house. Statement from the boss in a very unfriendly tone: we have to be able to offer the tourists something. You can pre-order for tomorrow (Monday)! Sure, locals don't go to work either. Conclusion - cheers for the tourists, locals don't bring in any money. As in almost all of SPO - everything for the tourists 👍

Schönes Lokal in bester Lage. Die Ausstattung ist sehr schön, wenn es voll ist wird es etwas lauter. Mit Hunden sollte man kein Problem haben, denn diese dürfen hier vom Strand wie sie sind direkt mit rein. Der Service ist bei uns aufmerksam gewesen. Leider kommt das Essen sehr schnell, was uns immer irritiert und ist lauwarm. Für das Preisniveau würde ich mir etwas mehr geschmackliche Raffinesse bei einem Kartoffelstampf wünschen. Aber alles in allem aber gut, vor allem die Weinauswahl passt.

We had coffee and cake there and it was really tasty. There were always - by default - 2 small pieces 🍰. The prices are okay for the location. The only drawback: everything was full of tables. When there's a lot going on, you can't understand your own words.

Here, emphasis is placed on regional, plant-based, sustainable and fresh dishes. We as a family can recommend the restaurant unreservedly and one hundred percent. Ambience: It is very clean, bright, right on the beach, with a great terrace, beautiful view, clear and transparent menu. All dishes are clearly vegan/vegetarian and then labeled depending on the type of meat/fish. On the back there is all sorts of information about suppliers, supply chains and the philosophy of the restaurant and hotel. By far the best restaurant we tried in SPO (and which we would like to take home with us straight away). Child-friendliness: The play area for children is spacious and designed with attractive toys. The menu highlights how welcome children are in the restaurant. The children's menu is fresh and luckily more than just fries and chicken nuggets (also healthier fresh alternatives). Food: The best pumpkin soup we have ever tasted, even the picky child enjoyed it. All other dishes were freshly prepared and homemade, simply great. Prices are fair. Drinks may be a bit expensive (e.g. almost €6 for 0.4 juice spritzer). Service: was okay. The waitress at our table was friendly, but it took a while until we got the menu, we weren't greeted and the waitress who served the tables next to us didn't even look at us, but skillfully ignored us

All in all, everything was very good and the price/performance ratio is reasonably good for the location. We were very satisfied.

We have been here frequently over the last 6 years. Only as restaurant guests. At lunchtime, in the morning and in the evening. We always ate very well and were always served in a very friendly and professional manner. The Deichkind is a “jack of all trades”. They can do everything very well. If you want it perfect, you may have to go somewhere else. Anyone who likes things friendly and almost perfect is in good hands here.

Nice modern restaurant. Ate a burger. It was something from a completely different place. Homemade bun with patty and everything that goes with the burger on top. Very tasty and above all not greasy at all. Simply good.

The spelled pasta dish looked *****. Could have been served at another table. You could look for the chanterelles. Very bad.....

After a disappointing dinner in July 2024, we gave the Deichkind restaurant another chance because we were always very satisfied with previous visits to the Deichkind. Unfortunately we were very disappointed again. My bowl was absolutely bland in taste, the salad was old and the hummus and sushi rice were just bad and ice cold. You might think that the bowl was from the day before and had simply been taken out of the fridge. It is really very sad that this once so recommendable restaurant has declined so much

Why only 3 stars overall 🌟 when the three individual categories each get 5 stars 🌟? Because the expectations of a highlight during 5 days of SPO were virtually destroyed by an absolute lack of organization and poor communication. We have been coming to SPO for many years, celebrated our wedding here, accommodated our guests in the flotsam and jetsam and felt very comfortable. The fact that we rarely have the chance to find our overnight stay here due to a lack of timely reservation is our beer. But how much we were looking forward to a fine meal on the terrace - on August 28th, 2024. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Not exactly our typical meal time - but we can live with that. We were happy to have a really good time, with delicious food, great drinks and a good atmosphere. But since the terrace was quickly converted into just drinking, we couldn't eat outside - even though we had asked. It's incomprehensible why you can't serve at bar tables - there's a reason for everything. Information in advance would have been nice or an alternative. It's a shame and unfortunately doesn't do justice to the location and the ambience.

It could easily have been 5 stars here.....food great, location great ambience great and service good but too slow. With a large group we waited 1.5 hours after ordering the starter and main course, just for the main course. Unfortunately, drink service was also slow.

My braised organic carrots were fantastically tasty and looked very healthy and I also got some delicious bread beforehand. The staff is very attentive, the atmosphere is very nice and because I was there before dinner time, I was able to hold an online meeting without disturbing anyone - with a WiFi speed of 660 MBit/s 🚀 The food arrived after 5-10 minutes, probably because it was still so empty overall. You can afford it!

The food is a disgrace for the price. Rooms are far too narrow and poorly ventilated. Untrained and rude staff.

According to my companion, very tasty tarts and cakes, as well as coffee. One point deducted because of the already high prices. But quality is great.

Basically nice restaurant with a good selection of food and drinks. The curry tasted excellent and was a good portion. The salmon was good purely in terms of fish, but the mashed sweet potatoes and salad were uninspired in terms of taste (you could also say boring). The portion overall was manageable. What really bothered us, however, was the attentiveness of the service. After the drinks and food were quickly served, no one seemed to want to take another order for drinks, desserts and coffee (and the place wasn't that busy). After waiting for a while we paid and left. That just doesn't match the advertised price level!

Very tasty cocktails! (2023) 2024: After being very impressed with Deichkind last year (and the many years before that), we are disappointed this year! Everything went well with the online reservation and we were warmly welcomed and assigned our place. Everything went well with the order and the food was very good! Then we ordered a chocolate mousse for bedside. Unfortunately, when we said "we'll manage that", we didn't see the waiter anymore, at least not at our table, neither to ask if we wanted anything, nor to pay. Several waiters were busy preparing two larger tables for a larger group - apparently there was no time left for other guests! A pity! Disappointed, we got up to pay and even then the waitress didn't notice that there was still an order outstanding. It's a shame, Deichkind, but we're really disappointed!

Up until 2 years ago, we would have immediately agreed with the consistently good reviews. Unfortunately, we have recently noticed that the quality of the food in Deichkind has deteriorated significantly. Here is an example: As a family of 5, we were happy to take the surprise menu. You got consistently good quality and you could literally feel how much love the chef put into preparing the individual dishes. The dessert in particular, with many small delicacies served on a large slate platter, was a testament to his creativity. This time the dessert came on a white plastic plate and was significantly reduced; there was no longer much of the previous attention to detail. So we decided to have a plate meal on our next visit. Here is just one example: cod stewed with saffron kohlrabi and a potato side dish with wild herbs. The fish disappeared, well cooked, under the wild herbs that lay “wild” on it and the potatoes and kohlrabi were so overcooked that they could no longer be distinguished. The whole thing for €31 left me speechless. I would like to briefly explain why I'm taking such trouble with the review: Visits to Deichkind have been a part of our visit to SPO for years. That's why it's sad to see that it has declined significantly in recent years. I would like to positively mention the service staff, who always treat you in a friendly, attentive and courteous manner. And actually know what wine you drank the year before.

We always enjoy coming to Restaurant Deichkind! The exclusive regional cuisine offers a wonderful selection of delicious dishes that are always fresh and lovingly prepared. Particularly noteworthy is the extremely attentive service. A special thank you goes to Florian, who always warmly welcomes us and provides excellent service. The view of the North Sea is simply phenomenal and adds to the relaxed atmosphere. An absolute must for anyone who wants to combine enjoyment and a wonderful view.

The location and service are good in this restaurant. However, the beef we consumed tasted old and had a strange texture.

It may be that the cozy shop can do something, but if you brush away guests 11 minutes before the end, with "stutterings that don't speak German and very condescending, unfriendly gestures" then the guests who are already there will still be there for at least another 40 minutes (end to be determined). The 4.50 € per beer to go seems to be more expensive after highly advertised craft beer with unfortunately omitted letters as a topping, which makes you wonder whether you should have taken it because it may have special effects on the human organism seems to have if you look at the other Creepy guests?!…) actually not necessary at all In this sense: unfortunately it's awkward to sit in front of the bar to enjoy the expensive beer and have to guess the music lyrics.

Beautiful and stylish restaurant with a direct view of the North Sea. There is a daily menu with regional ingredients. I liked the burger, although the preparation was a bit unusual. I liked the biscuit with the espresso. The staff was friendly and approachable.

The Frisian cake is forbidden, it's so delicious...and the view of the dunes and the sea is amazing...I can't say anything about dinner because I haven't had dinner there yet...that's why only ⭐⭐⭐⭐ but they come from the heart.

Food and cocktails were very overpriced. 23e for a ”burger” that was a meatpatty on a flatbread pita? and no top bun. Also no proper burgercheese but just a little bit shredded cheese, no tomato, pickle or onions. Fries were good. Pasta was decent but also not worth of 18,5 euros, mushrooms were badly cooked and pasta was low quality. 7,5 euros for water. Overall most overpriced restaurant I have ever visited, you will get pasta from vapiano and better burger from McDonalds🫠

We had a lovely time in the restaurant as a family. The children were able to pass the time by playing. Our son's food allergy was dealt with very well - the service employee was very committed. I can only recommend the restaurant.

Hello everyone, I was there spontaneously for breakfast on Sunday and even though it was fully booked I was able to choose a nice place. Overall I felt quite comfortable there and yes, the price has already been written about, it's also the location that you pay for, it's like that everywhere ;0) I actually only have one criticism! I love fresh METT and I have to honestly say that offering this “old onion meat” in this price range is a bit of a cheek. I also got fresh METT in much cheaper locations and yup, even on Sundays and anyone who knows knows, Mett is not just raw meat ;0)))) Maybe I'll be able to stop by again next Monday after the night shift and who knows, maybe there'll be fresh food then too,;;;0) It's somewhere around €30, so it should be included.

Totally delicious and lots of varied dishes! Lots of choice for vegetarians and vegans too.

The cod no longer smelled good at all - a new dish was offered but the smell made us lose our appetite. The other dishes at our table were “okay” but for the price we have eaten better in other restaurants. It feels like “quick cooking”. The service is really good, and upon request there are also cocktails that are not on the menu.

***Update June 9th, 2024*** Our visit this year was very pleasant, the service was excellent and the food exceeded our expectations. We greatly appreciated the restaurant's efforts to take feedback seriously and improve customer service. Thank you for making amends! ***Original review from September 24th, 2023*** We had already made reservations online on July 15th for our visit on September 24th. When we arrived, we were assigned a table in the family area with appropriate noise levels due to (small) children, even though we had reserved as a couple without children. A friendly request from us to give us a quieter place was dismissed by saying that everything was occupied/reserved. In the meantime we took a seat outside because the noise was unacceptable for us. At least the weather cooperated. However, we were then simply forgotten. The waitress confirmed this to us when she finally came to us after we had to wait over 20 minutes to even be able to order. After we complained again that we would like a quiet table inside, this was finally granted. At that time there were numerous tables available inside. We were allowed to bring in our own drinks, which had now been delivered, as well as the greetings from the kitchen. The friendliness of the service(s) left a lot to be desired throughout the evening. The quality of the food was good to very good, but the rest was unfortunately unsatisfactory. All in all, the Deichkind restaurant did not give us the impression of being welcome, on the contrary: we sometimes had the feeling that the restaurant did not correspond to the desired clientele.

We've been coming here for years when we're on vacation. After a small “dip” last year (2023), we were now completely thrilled again and really enjoyed our stay. The restaurant is modern and very clean, the service is professional and attentive and the food is a dream. The food is also suitable for vegans, there is a large selection of vegan dishes, but meat eaters are not left out either. We are pleased about the consistently high level. The dishes are more expensive than at the pizza bakery, but you also get completely different dishes. For us they are worth every euro and the price-performance ratio is right.

Great restaurant right on the beach promenade. We just had a coffee and spontaneously decided on a snack - the chickpea fries were super tasty and there was also a large selection of vegan, varied dishes. You can put your feet in the sand in the beach chairs on the terrace and enjoy your coffee with a great view.

There is still a lot of room for improvement, because the dyke child wants to go high. In an exposed, great beach location you will find the great restaurant that belongs to the hotel. The cuisine is geared towards vegetarian/vegan diets. Great! Healthy and in keeping with the spirit of the times. A look at the menu reveals a fireworks display of hip cuisine that wants to be at the star level. The game is played regionally and with open cards. Class! The following was eaten: Mozzarella Top. Corn-fed chicken with truffle and asparagus - well, the truffle was anything but aromatic and could have been saved. Chocolate mousse - difficult... A mousse is fluffy, airy and melts in your mouth. Ideally it is cut into dumplings and served. This one reminded me of cold Nutella from the fridge. It was probably garnished from a piping bag. Guys, please don't do that. Service: nice, not intrusive and sometimes unfortunately not visible for a long time. My criticism regarding the food was noted. Not more. Given the price level, I expect a little more. Don't rest on the great location and the fact that the guests will come anyway. Thrilled that guests are coming BACK! I'll try it again next year. Let's take a look☺️

In season, the menu is too grandiose and complicated for a snack bar. Small, tasty dishes would be more appropriate for a snack in between. The currywurst was lukewarm and not even a bit fried. No bite, just limp. It was the same 3 years ago. By the way, it was a curry sausage. For the price you would expect a larger sausage with a bite and a spicy tomato sauce. Never again!

I really like it here. Whenever I'm in SPO, I eat here at least once and drink coffee several times. Gladly again and again!
