Das Maria in München

The food was tasty, but unfortunately the portion size wasn't right. In my opinion, the concept of “Oriental Tapas” doesn’t work. In addition, the acoustics in the store are a disaster. Sometimes you don't understand your own words.

Don't come here at all, just have the Turkish breakfast, the waiters are incredibly rude, they fight, there are no rules, they apply them as they please (especially look at the terrace, the blonde waitress).

Bad reviews because no free water? This place was great! Props to the top service and to the chefs for a veggie menu that deserves a Michelin star :)

The high prices for simple dishes seem more like marketing to a different audience. Overall, I didn't find the value for money convincing. The food was okay, but the drinks (e.g., the hot chocolate drink) weren't my cup of tea. For my taste, the spices that were missing from the food were too much in the drink. The tables were very close together, and the service was visibly overwhelmed, as a single server was responsible for many guests.

The food was delicious, the service was very friendly and attentive, but the noise in the restaurant and the smell of overheated grease from the kitchen ruined my mood. It was about as cozy as eating a currywurst at Berlin Central Station.

Super friendly service & very tasty food! Even had gluten-free flatbread that tasted really good :)! The main courses/large mezze are quite expensive but overall everything is really recommended!

The food is delicious but not authentic Middle Eastern/Moroccan, the service could be improved (Friendly customer treatment, shorter waiting time...). And the Moroccan tea is not Moroccan at all, just to manage expectations

Extremely poor price/performance ratio. Here you have to go home hungry if you don't want to ruin yourself financially. Large portions, as they are called on the menu, are a joke and represent half a starter, but for around €20.

Although the service and atmosphere were very good, I found the pricing to be extremely disproportionate. €17 for a small portion of hummus, two pieces of bread and a single cauliflower floret marinated in vinegar seems excessive. Even if the chickpeas were carefully hand-picked, such a price is difficult to justify

A great place for breakfast or an afternoon coffee! It is advisable to make a reservation on Sunday mornings, it is very popular here - understandably. The staff is nice and there is a very large selection of breakfast dishes, but also tea and other drinks. I would love to go back and try out the rest of the menu :) There are lots of sunny spots outside, which is particularly great in spring/autumn. In the summer I would rather not sit outside at lunchtime.

Unfortunately it's way too expensive but it tastes good.

Special cafe! They have different oriental dishes & breakfast. The avocado bread with eggs was delicious with some special spices.

There were 3 of us there and we had a baby with a stroller. I understand that it's tight there and it's difficult when everyone wants to take their stroller in. After some discussion, we were allowed to fold the stroller and stow it in the cloakroom. I think the restaurant could consider child-friendly options, such as offering locks so you can lock the stroller outside. It's just an idea now. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem particularly child-friendly. The food was very tasty, but the price was rather high.

We had ordered a table for two people at 11:30 and were there 5 minutes after our reserved time - but unfortunately still had to wait 15 minutes until our table was free. That's far too long for my taste after a reservation that has to be confirmed again the evening before. But the staff was super friendly and accommodating. There's nothing wrong with that at all. The food was okay, but for the price it was neither convincing in terms of taste nor quantity. Many others like it there too - perhaps our expectations were simply too high. The success certainly proves them right, but we won't come back again.

Everything just fits here! We were warmly welcomed and felt right at home in the unique ambience of Das Maria. We were guided through the large selection with great recommendations and the food was really a pleasure - every dish was a highlight! The team was very attentive and friendly and not intrusive in the least - top service! A clear recommendation for anyone who wants to get to know new tastes and wants a wonderful dining experience. With this expectation we were by no means disappointed at Das Maria. 😊

We were at Das Maria for the first time today and had the Valentine's Day menu (vegetarian). It was very very very tasty and something very special. The atmosphere was really great and very cozy. We really felt very comfortable. Big praise to the service, especially to our lovely waitress (young, blonde hair) and big praise to the kitchen... we'll definitely be back.

I've probably eaten in 200 restaurants in Munich, but the food at Maria is simply unique and, for me, probably the best in the city. The menu is highly recommended. Every course is simply incredibly delicious and gives me a very good holiday feeling. Not to forget the beautiful atmosphere and the very warm service!

The Maria offers unusual oriental cuisine in the Glockenbachviertel. Delicious food in an authentic location - but a bit cramped depending on the table assigned. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The tastes are special and should definitely be taken into account when choosing a restaurant - it is not necessarily for everyone. Anyone who is open to oriental cuisine will definitely be happy here!

Mega delicious breakfast in a great atmosphere. It couldn't be better...

Actually wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday. Had reserved the day before. Arrived on time, but what followed is difficult to describe. We were offered a small table, there were three of us, right at the entrance, even though the restaurant was hardly frequented - almost all the tables were empty. When we asked to be given another table, we were told that other guests didn't want to sit at the door either. We then left this “restaurant” immediately. We've already experienced a lot, but this was the height of naughtiness and stupid audacity. Absolutely not recommended.

I was there twice, the first and the last time Price performance is based on chic Micki unfortunately not the taste 4 falaffels all burnt and soggy on the inside and meaningless for 11 euros the bread unfortunately also burnt the smoky aubergine is so smoky that unfortunately you can't use any other spices the prices for these "side dishes" correspond to those of a main course but a long wine list (haram)

Great find, friendly and welcoming service even though we didn’t speak German. Had to Google translate menu ( no big deal) vibrant ambiance and authentic and delicious fresh food. Service with a smile, highly recommended.

First time in my life I have to pay for tap water, 5€ for a litter, the water must be very special in Munich. It’s a shame, nice people tho.

Very beautiful place. The personal was very friendly. Tea especially with mint was delicious. I like the interior design and the details like the kettles and the table sets. The food was also tasty and interesting dishes in Middle East Style. There was a big variety of wines in the menu.

Lukewarm "pizza" served on a ranzing wooden board; I also enjoyed the homemade lemonade much better.

Always delicious and a nice atmosphere! Very friendly staff. Only the prices are a bit high. Personally a bit too high for the quantities and in general. Even if everything has somehow become more expensive, which I understand. But for 3 slices of eggplant in a sauce (admittedly very tasty) they charge €17. Or €6 for the bread we requested (even if it was a bread basket)… we ended up with €100 for 2 people (2 small mezzes, 2 slightly larger ones) and were moderately full. Including two small Lemon Spritz. I think €100 is too much for that

Actually a great shop, with fancy middle east food. Delicious shashuka. Unfortunately there are no high chairs, so I can't really recommend it with children.

A bit tight and you have to wait a long time to be informed about a place. But it tastes great. We had Maria on the Bosphorus and Maria in Tel Aviv. (The latter was a shakshuka, which is why “Tel Aviv” is the wrong name, as the dish is primarily of Maghreb origin and has only been Israeli since the 1950s. Please do not support the theft or falsification of history.)

Yes, unfortunately people are resting on old laurels here when there are complaints about stone in the muesli not being edible. The rotten old pieces of fruit are so big that you can't even put them in your mouth and if you complain, you'll still be charged the overpriced price of €10.90 for the muesli. The guest doesn't play a role here at all and doesn't matter, he's just left out This café is definitely no longer recommended, the neighboring café 10 cm away is definitely not recommended

I'm not even sure where to start. I've known Maria for breakfast for five years and I went here every time I visited Munich. It's so incredibly good. This time we were there for the first time in the evening - and wow! I am completely thrilled. We had the small Mezze Maria Chicken, as well as the two large Mezze Chicken Stew and Lamb Pilaf. The taste is phenomenal and I have never tasted anything like it. Rounded off by the great service and the great atmosphere. We'll meet Again! Stay as you are - everything turned out great.

Super nice store with very friendly staff that brings a personal touch to the store. The tables are great for groups of up to 5 people. We had a good time and were able to get to know new culinary things. Gladly again!

The breakfast was delicious and the service was initially friendly. We then had a second (confirmed) reservation and asked whether we could keep our table or have to change. The service staff then became cool, they didn't accept "double bookings", the reservation for 12 p.m. was canceled online at 11:49 and we were very firmly asked to pay, the others (?) would already be waiting. With every understanding for other guests, if a reservation is made, it is either binding or not. You ruined our day, our mood was in the basement, we downed the second order of drinks (which was still possible at a quarter to twelve...) and left.

The special breakfast. The Maria alone is worth a trip to Munich. Everything is delicious and the service is great.

The local itself is really beautifully designed, the service was great, everyone was really nice! The food was tasty, but unfortunately not special enough for the relatively high price. The wine list is huge, but unfortunately the food selection is not that big.

Very tasty food. Weevice was ok. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio for the menu for 4 people wasn't right for us (€50 per person). We didn't get enough - 2 couples.

The mezze was quite good, but too expensive for what you got. We found the concept of only one mezze for the entire table to be less successful, as some were vegetarian/vegan and others would have liked to eat meat. Unfortunately, the stools are super uncomfortable and we couldn't eat any more dessert because the reservations were strictly timed and we were asked to leave after exactly 2 hours. But the staff was quite nice.

For me personally, hummus had too much tahini, but my companion enjoyed it. Shakshuka had too many ingredients for both of us, knowing it as a rather simple tomato-based dish, but it was still delicious. The position of the urinals is extremely unfavorable. Overall, the ambience could be even warmer. It was tasty and good but not as special as we thought based on the recommendations.

Large choice of coffee sorts: oriental and Italian. Waited 10 min to get a table. Friendly but so slow service and they got confused very easily with drinks order and later with dishes order. Nice sun-oriented sitting spots for brunch hours outside. I ordered a Shakshuka with lamb and beef-based merguez. It was with a lot of coriander spice and yummy delicious runny yolk eggs. They brought me the without merguez version but charged me for the merguez version. The Shakshuka is interesting in it’s difference from the Tunisian 3ejja shakshuka sort.

Yes, if you like that kind of cuisine. Service is very quick and the kitchen is also clear. This was my first time eating here so the food is new to me but I think it's a great option for people who like it.

Kind of a cool place with a special menu and flair. Unfortunately, the food itself varies greatly in quality. But it's presented really cool.

The restaurant is not suitable for families. Price performance is underground. A tasteless tarte flambée with wafer-thin slices of beef costs around €18. For a very small portion of starter with hummus, spoiled cauliflower etc. €16 is charged. The restaurant doesn't know what Arabic/Oriental cuisine is. We have rarely eaten as badly as we did here. Rest assured that we only consume Demeter/Organic products, which is something you definitely don't have. At the same time, be assured that their products are inferior and tasteless, that is because their products are not organic. Organic products are usually full of flavor, just not with them. Apart from that, as already written above, they have no idea what oriental cuisine tastes like. I'm welcome to come by and show me their "organic" products. And I help you buy the very good quality products and I'm happy to show you what oriental cuisine should taste like.

Visit last Saturday noon. What can I say.... the food is decent, although the price remains high (but we are in Munich). On the other hand, the service... what a joke. The tall, blond young man who served us was disrespectful beyond measure! Upon arrival, even though we have a reservation, he looks down on us with a little thought like "yes, we're finally allowing you to be here, be happy" -> uh.... okay. Then we order (after 25 minutes of waiting). 45 minutes later still nothing on the table, so we ask the question. And rather than apologizing and going to find out, we took a shot like: "yeah you really don't know Das Maria: we're hyped and it's normal to wait, so stop complaining ". Bha.... 1 hour between sitting down and having something to eat, even among the stars, we don't wait that long: we'll have to learn to come back to earth. Strangely, when we asked the lady, a little older, she went straight inside to ask and we were served in 10 minutes... Anyway, in quick conclusion: food ok, everything else needs to be reviewed/discarded; and clearly I wouldn't set foot there again! EDIT: following the owner's response: demonstration of exactly what I'm saying: never question yourself, and come and put your ego in the middle of the conversation. Unfortunately for him, I was with two German friends, so no communication problems to report... In short... I'm even going to lower my rating in the end!

The quality of the food has drastically deteriorated - there are no longer any real main courses and only meze. We had the challah which, at 8 euros, tasted no better than a browned brioche with a long hair baked into it. The 4 falafels for 11 euros were burnt and carelessly served on a tahini pasta. The “large” eggplant mezze - tasted ok, but at 17.90 (no side dishes etc) it wasn't really worth the money either. Overall, neither the quantity nor the quality are right for the high price. It was our last visit here...

There were six of us there for dinner. Cocktails and food were ok. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio wasn't right at all. A simple hummus counts as the main course (it was tasty but nothing special). You need a few meze to fill you up and it gets expensive. The chairs outside are metal and not very comfortable

Quiet yet centrally located restaurant. We were there in the afternoon and could still choose between breakfast and hearty dishes. We all really enjoyed the food. Portions were large, so value for money was right. The staff was also very friendly. We'd love to come back!

Went there for the first time yesterday and it certainly wouldn't be the last time! From the very good service to the diverse selection of dishes (both large sweet and salty selection) to the convincing taste and the beautiful, authentic presentation of the dishes, everything was right here! A small point of criticism for me was the coffee, which wasn't 100% to my taste. Otherwise a convincing visit!

We were there early in the evening. The food is excellent, special starters. We haven't eaten something so delicious in a long time. For me, absolute class. Unique! The waitress, a young man, was very friendly and accommodating. I can only recommend.

The food at Maria is still very tasty. Unfortunately, meals are now only offered to share in the evenings instead of main courses. I think the concept itself is good. However, the price-performance ratio is not right here at all!!! Unfortunately, the portion sizes do not reflect the high prices in any way. The menu is priced in the main course category, but you are served portions that won't fill you up. About 3 mezes per person are recommended to fill you up. And then at the end of the evening paying €60 for 3 small meze and a drink is just too much for me, even in Munich. Unfortunately I wasn't full either.

The food was great, I would give it 5 stars for that alone. To drink I had the pomegranate lemonade, my friends had the rose lemonade. Unfortunately, both only tasted like sugary water. What didn't work at all was the service. Uninterested in the guests, we had to wait until we could order (we were allowed to organize the tickets ourselves beforehand). The waitress herself was so motionless that she dropped an order completely under the table. There has to be a better way.

Not Celiac friendly! We researched gluten-free options by phone in advance and were assured that they offer enough gluten-free options. They even bake their own gluten-free bread! Once there, we pointed out my celiac disease to the friendly waitress and had every single mezze we ordered checked with the kitchen. However, there was no demand there and I was finally served a dish with wheat with the words "it's gluten-free". As a result, the evening and the next two weeks were over. It is understandable that due to the pressure and stress in the kitchen, mishaps can quickly happen. However, the kitchen staff should be aware of their responsibility towards guests with food intolerances. Since they even offer homemade gluten-free bread, you should expect that more guests with celiac disease will want to enjoy their dishes. Aside from the gluten misfortune, the food was excellent and the service was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth a visit for all mere mortals. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant for people who depend on reliable cuisine.

This was our third time here and the overall package is simply fantastic! Totally delicious food, I almost want to say excellent 🤌🏻, the friendliest and most attentive staff and a great atmosphere, whether for breakfast/brunch or dinner. An absolute must!!

The Maria in Munich is a real gem! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the food is excellent. We were particularly impressed by the creative dishes and the fresh ingredients. The service is attentive and friendly. A must for anyone who appreciates good food in Munich. We will be back definitely!

A few months ago I was at Maria and everything was great. I've been going there again in my thoughts for the last few days. Unfortunately it was a total disaster... We were ignored and often ignored by the waitress. Our food didn't arrive at the same time, which puts the concept of sharing into question... We also had to ask about the side dishes several times... Which, to be fair, were on the house. But the good atmosphere was already over…. In the end, of course, we asked the waitress about it, then the reason was that there was a lot going on at once and the kitchen couldn't keep up. I could also understand that there could be a lot going on, but you have to communicate that! Especially tables that arrived after us received their food quicker. However, the best statement came at the end: “we had to take care of the guests with the reservation first” It's a shame guys... as your food is really delicious.
