Yesterday the two of us spontaneously went to the village at 9 p.m. Didn't reserve. However, we were treated extremely hospitably and were given the best seat in the store within 10 minutes. Where should I start? The employees who sing Musical Like, the great, open-minded guests or the fabulous food? For me a clear 12/10!

Top service, good food, nice wines. But you sit very tight, it's hot and loud. And I'm not a fan of the two-hour limit at all.

The service was fast, but actually so fast that it became stressful. 30 minutes from the time we arrived the main course was eaten. The venue is nice but extremely noisy. We ate the polarizing schnitzels here today. There's nothing to complain about, they're not the best in the world, but they're good. They were tasty and well fried. The potato salad wasn't my thing, but as we all know, you can't argue with taste. My companion thought he was great. The employees are really good, nice, courteous and do a great job. Thank you very much for that. I deducted one star because the door to the toilets, which they wanted to take care of a year ago, still doesn't close properly. If we're in Hamburg again, we'll be happy to come back.

Such a lovely, rustic and cosy place. We had the classic schnitzel and it didn’t disappoint (possible a bit too much food but it was delicious)! Well worth the price, friendly service, and worked hard to accommodate a couple walking in off the street on a Friday night (!!). Highly recommended.

In a basement with all the German atmosphere, excellent food and very pleasant treatment

The two of us ate there. Because they said they had the "best schnitzel in Hamburg" (and because of the high prices), we had high expectations. So we ordered the schnitzel with fried potatoes and the paprika goulash. The homemade bread with truffle and pepper dip before the main course tasted good. However, when the main course arrived, the mood was rather sober. The portions were quite small. We didn't particularly like the food itself either. We've had better schnitzel in Hamburg. The paprika goulash could also have tasted better. At least the meat was nice and tender and there was plenty of sauce available. For dessert there was chocolate cake and Kaiserschmarrn. They weren't great in terms of taste, but they were tasty enough. After spending over €100, we still left the restaurant hungry thanks to the small portions. On the positive side, large drinks are actually very large (other restaurants could take a lesson from this). The service was nice and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy. However, it became very loud as the restaurant filled up and it was no longer possible to converse at a normal volume. The one stall in the women's restroom couldn't be locked and it could have been cleaner. Ultimately, this is not a restaurant we will visit again. The money is too good for us to leave the restaurant hungry. And since we know where we can get better schnitzel, we're not sad that this was our only visit.

I had three different types of fish. It was extraordinary. You can't prepare fish yourself like this. Gladly again.

A very attentive service impresses in a great ambience. The highly touted schnitzel dish was ok so far, but unfortunately not the taste highlight we were hoping for. The Kaiserschmarrn was also a bit disappointing to our taste. The goulash was tough and unseasoned and the sauce was very watery. Maybe it should have cooked longer. The other dishes, schnitzel and fish were okay, but not outstanding either. The service and the ambience are really top class. The food (at least in our case) could be improved. Nevertheless, thank you for the lovely evening 🙂

The atmosphere is loud and incredibly warm there. Otherwise done quite well. Just coming here once is enough. Doesn't have to happen again.

We wanted to go out for dinner spontaneously and found The Village by chance. Unfortunately it was fully booked at the time, but the friendly waitress said we should come back in an hour. Had a drink in the meantime. We were assigned a table later. We had an excellent meal (schnitzel and panfish), accompanied by an excellent wine that was generously poured. We had a lovely evening all around, in a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely eat here again on our next visit to Hamburg

Atmosphere and service 10/10. Unfortunately, the food is below average, especially for the prices. The menu consists of only a few dishes, so one would assume that they are particularly good and balanced. Unfortunately, the goulash was tough and the Kaiserschmarrn was too eggy and tasteless.

Can't understand the good reviews, in other locations in the Long Range you start to get larger, tastier and significantly cheaper veal schnitzel. Our steaks also disappoint. Given the high prices, you should expect top quality, but unfortunately I didn't experience that, on the contrary.

The restaurant with its warm service and the really good schnitzel as well as the recommended Kaiserschmarrn was really excellent. The chocolate cake with the very tasty ice cream is also a real recommendation.

Unfortunately it was just ok. We had dinner here with 6 people during the week and, despite a reservation, we were seated at a table that would actually have been suitable for a maximum of 4 people for a cozy meal. It was extremely cramped; we couldn't even eat properly with a knife and fork without constantly bumping the person sitting next to us with our elbows. In the end we had to press our arms against our upper body and hold our hands like a T-Rex. Anything but pleasant. It was also incredibly hot and stuffy, which only made the cramped seating situation even worse. The food was quite good, but we all had to add salt and pepper to everything. Service was nice and attentive, but seemed a bit shocked/surprised when we wanted to pay as soon as the plates were cleared without dessert or additional drinks. We just wanted to get out of the store. In this group we go out to eat regularly and we usually sit and chat all evening with dessert, other drinks, etc. Unfortunately we lost all desire to do this due to the seating situation. Very unfortunate. We then moved on to somewhere else and ended the evening there. The bottom line was unfortunately disappointing. Especially in this price range, you can actually expect a slightly more pleasant experience.

Rustic and tasty at fair prices.

We found the restaurant online before our trip to Hamburg as a “secret spot”. We were absolutely not disappointed. I haven't had such an unforgettable schnitzel in years. The side dishes were also impressive. The fish was fresh and tasty. The service was very friendly and accommodating. We sat outside, but also saw the restaurant from the inside. Totally small, sweet and cute. You would like to stay there longer. This schnitzel is rightly praised and praised so much! The prices are absolutely fair. A 33 out of 10!

Stimmungsvolles, historisches Lokal. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam und nett. Wir waren eine Gruppe und sassen in einem kleinen, engen Raum, was eigentlich sehr gemütlich sein könnte. Leider war es so heiss und es gab anscheident keine Lüftungsmöglichkeit. Das teilten wir der Bedienung mit und verliessen schliesslich das Restaurant ohne Dessert. Beim Heraugehen sehen wir dann, dass sie eine bewegliche Klimaanlage anhatten, die jedoch im Teil des Restaurants stand, wo alle Fenster offen waren. Nun gut... Wir bestellten Rumpsteak und Hummerraviloi. Das Fleisch hat gut geschmeckt, auch die Ravioli, aber die Ravioliesser wurden leider nicht satt. Verglichen mit anderen Restaurants ist dieses meiner Meinung nach zu teuer - was Preis-Leistung anbetrifft.

The place has a very nice, rustic and cosy atmosphere. We ordered the schnitzel and one time the daily menu and all of the food was amazing. For the wine we let the waiter choose for us, and both wines that he brought were really good. If you are looking for a place to eat a good schnitzel with a nice ambiance, try out this place!

The schnitzels are really good, but I don't know if they are the best schnitzel in Hamburg as advertised. Unfortunately, some of the fried potatoes were very dark and therefore not that good. The good looking potatoes “just happened” to be on top.

I have enjoyed being a guest on and off for twelve years. The quality of the food from the employees and the entire atmosphere is always top.

Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante tedesco nella zona di St. George - si scende da una scalinata - ambiente con luce soffusa come piace a noi. Il servizio e’ stato veloce ed impeccabile. Abbiamo preso un piatto principale (vitello) e una zuppa di zucca. Il vino rose’ tedesco strepitoso. Buon rapporto qualità prezzo con un piccolo liquore alle erbe come omaggio e ricordo.

Reservations were quick and we were lucky that there was a table available for two people. The cucumber salad “To start with, very classic” and the soup “I think I'm standing in the forest” are delicious. The main course was “A Summer Romance” and “The Summer Calf Comes to the Village” The service was quick and super friendly.

We were spontaneously lucky to get a table at 6 p.m. It's quaint and has a great atmosphere. The location is St. George. It's hard to park and it's not the best either. Not at school, but the food there is great. Also in Village. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, the schnitzel gets drier over time. But you can order a sauce for that. Without sauce, meat will always be dry. That's just how it is. I think they have the best fried potatoes in the north. And the service is super nice.

We were very disappointed with the food. We had the Wienerschnitzel, which was very average (had to add mayo and ketchup). The veal cream goulash with “grandmother-style” spaetzle didn’t come close to the schnitzel: how sad is that! Conclusion: I like to spend money on good food, but when it's advertised as "super good food" like here and they can't keep it, I'm a little annoyed. Can't recommend the food - sorry

Had dinner with a group. Sometimes Tripadvisor reviews take you on a trip which is totally misleading. This time was one of those. It has been quite some time I experienced such mediocracy with food; the school meals in the 80´s in Finland were superior. The food was tasteless, out of imagination and utterly totally overpriced. So many good places in Hamburg butotally t is not one of them added with the overheated temperature in the restaurant simply completed the bad experience.

After reading all the great reviews, we came to the restaurant yesterday... and were very disappointed: - we got 2x schnitzel and 1x veal goulash. The veal goulash with paprika cream sauce was inedible and was returned immediately. Spaetzle and a few pieces of veal were swimming in a watery, bland, oily pulp. - the schnitzels were poorly seasoned and quite dry. The cucumber salad was delicious, the fried potatoes were oily, soggy and incorrectly seasoned. There are 5 stars for the team that responded in an understanding and friendly manner and generally provided great service. We paid €125 for three main courses, two soft drinks and a glass of wine including a tip. The schnitzel costs a whopping €31..

Based on the rating, we were in this restaurant for the second time and also gave it the second chance. The restaurant is relatively small and winding but the atmosphere is nice. We then ordered the “soft pink” rump steaks with fried potatoes. The juist and the fried potato were excellent. The rump steak was cut extremely crookedly and turned out to be a bit dry when cut. We then pointed out to the waitress directly that the meat was at least of marginal quality. As I cut further, the meat became drier and tougher to chew. Unfortunately, the time for the exchange had passed. The final highlight came with the payment. The waitress then asked if we wouldn't leave a tip. Unfortunately, I have to reply that the service and the good quality of the food unfortunately did not correspond to what the price in the menu suggests. Demanding a tip was really the final highlight. When we left the restaurant we also noticed that a guest outside had also had a rump steak that was at least twice as heavy and cut much higher. Then maybe the soft pink will work too. We will therefore definitely not recommend the restaurant and will not want to visit it again.

I submitted the 3-star review below almost 5 years ago, describing our experience at this restaurant. Recently I received a message from Google that the management of this restaurant marked my review as slander and thus Google has to remove it. Unbelievable that the management of this restaurant has no respect at all for the feedback of its customers. If this is the way they deal with reviews, their rating is superficially high. Very, very disappointed in this unprofessional conduct! You should be ashamed of yourself! Original 3-star review; Very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious and big portions, they did use a lot of oil though what made some dishes taste less. The prices were on the higher part, especially for the wine, but overall descent.

Magnificent place, crazy character! We immediately feel at ease in this warm atmosphere. The Wiener Schnitzel was really good. We also ordered for dessert, a Kaiserchmarnn which was good (even if it is not the best we ate in Germany, like in Munich for example). Our server was very attentive to us, very professional and attentive to our needs. He even had us taste the wines so we could make our choice. I highly recommend this establishment! We had a very good evening.

Fantastic food, beer and service! 🤩 I never got his name (or I forgot) but the man that looked after us was incredibly lovely, warm and welcoming and it left a positive impression on me that he was excited to meet our dog (who we unfortunately left at the hotel) it always means a lot to experience such amazing food and service, in beautiful restaurants, that also are welcoming to our 4-legged friends 🥰 P.s check the price of the water that’s left on the table, before you drink it (€7,80) this was entirely my fault and responsibility to check first, but this is just an FYI for future patrons.

We ate there over a year ago. The food is good and we can definitely recommend the schnitzel. The clear negative points are the price, which in my opinion is clearly too expensive, and the behavior of the staff. Sometimes very condescending and not confident. We would come again for the food, but not with the same staff.

As a Bavarian, it is difficult for me to rate the Schnitzel & Restaurant with 4 or 5 stars. I think that some people here have to come to beautiful Bavaria to eat a real veal schnitzel. We had made a reservation for two people and luckily got a spot spontaneously. The schnitzel was good, but as I said, not the best by far (which is what I expected at this price). I found it a bit too “dry”. They say they are the best schnitzels in Hamburg. Whilst this was my first the claim is very very plausible. A fantastic meal!

A quaint restaurant on the Lange Reihe with a large and cleverly divided interior (which you wouldn't suspect from the outside). Great service and delicious food. The Wiener Schnitzel is very good.

The village offers a rustic, homely atmosphere in the basement. The menu is clear and the food is of good quality. Service friendly. However, the prices are outrageous and cannot be justified. You can do it, but it's overpriced!

Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right. The schnitzel was good, but too dry. The Kaiserschmarrn portion was way too small for €14. This one wasn't particularly outstanding either. I expect more for the prices.

It's a cozy underground level restaurant with seats on the street available. Easy to miss it as the name in good maps and on the pleca itself differs probably because of translation. Booking in advance recommended. The food was really good quality. Served pretty quickly. Nice and polite staff. Pretty flexible with orders.

The right choice for schnitzel fans. The menu is rather small, which I personally think is good, but everyone can still find something to eat. To the kitchen: Of course we ate a schnitzel. There is an original Wiener Schnitzel made from veal. The preparation itself is an art: tossing the schnitzel in the hot fat so that the breading does not stick directly to the meat. The schnitzel is well souffled, but not complete, a few bubbles could be seen. When it was served it smelled like butter, which made me want to take a bite. It was very well placed and paper thin. As a side dish there were fried potatoes, which had a very well balanced ratio of onions and ham. However, these could be a little crispier. The cucumber salad served in a glass fits perfectly and provides a kick of freshness. About the service: I'm always a fan of a waitress who is responsible for the table throughout the evening. We had three, but they were attentive and quickly implemented the guests' wishes. Maybe they could say one or two sentences about the dishes, I think that's part of it. Conclusion: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Für Schnitzelfans die richtige Wahl. Die Karte ist eher klein gehalten, was ich persönlich gut finde, dennoch findet jeder etwas zum Essen. Zur Küche: Natürlich haben wir ein Schnitzel gegessen. Es gibt ein Original Wiener Schnitzel aus Kalbfleisch. Die Zubereitung an sich ist eine Kunst, das Schnitzel im heißen Fett so zu schwenken, dass die Panade nicht direkt am Fleisch haftet. Das Schnitzel ist gut souffliert, aber nicht komplett, ein paar Blasen waren zu sehen. Bei Servieerung roch es direkt nach Butter, das hat direkt zum reinbeißen verlockt. Es war sehr gut platziert und hauchdünn. Als Beilage gab es Bratkartoffeln, die ein sehr gut ausbalanciertes Verhältnis von Zwiebeln und Schinken hatten. Allerdings könntenn diese etwas knuspriger sein. Der gereichte Gurkensalat im Glas passt perfekt und liefert einen Frischekick. Zum Service: Bin immer ein Fan von einer Servicekraft die den Abend für den Tisch zuständig ist. Wir hatten drei, die aber aufmerksam waren und rasch die Wünsche der Gäste umsetzten. Vielleicht könnten diese aber noch den ein oder anderen Satz zu den Gerichten verlieren, das finde ich gehört dazu. Fazit: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great food, very pleasant English speaking Service. If you are interested to explore good German food you should not miss „Das Dorf“. The friendly staff will help you to find the right plate. And I’m certain you will enjoy the cozy atmosphere. The only inconvenience: don’t go when it is super hot. The Restaurant is not air conditioned

A great experience! German-Austrian cuisine, very tasty, in large portions, good wine list, great cocktails, nice, professional service... and trust in guests with a good weather app (BUIENRADAR) who want to sit outside even when rain is forecast in other apps! We'll definitely come by again!

We (my son, 11 and I) went there for the first time last night. At first we couldn't find the entrance that was hidden by the pharmacy and led to the cellar straight away. It's probably very warm and dark inside at first, but once you're inside it becomes very comfortable. The furnishings and atmosphere really invite you to stay for a long time and make yourself comfortable. The employees are all very, very nice. Anni and her colleague gave us a warm welcome and hospitality. Thanks also to Anni for the nice conversation in which she told us more about St. Georg. Thanks to the chef for the really delicious Wiener Schnitzel with fried potatoes and cucumber salad. We will definitely recommend you. And anyone who leaves there hungry has definitely done something wrong.

Good service, rustic cuisine for classics, nice ambience.

The gastro “Monday gap” can also be bridged very well in “Das Dorf”. The special location has been around for years and is always worth a visit. It's crazy how winding the basement is. And yet, you find your way out again. Despite the slight lack of air and very good Corona filters, none of the guests here are claustrophobic. The location is too quaint and cozy for that. Business people next to students or DINKs from the local neighborhood. Sure, at least one cute dog there. The map made it easy. All asparagus with schnitzel. Hollandaise sauce, lightly foamed, absolutely delicious. Lots of white wine from the Rheingau on it, well tempered, that was really delicious. The dessert variation to share is contemporary and timelessly delicious. Nothing went back. Not even crumbs. And you can definitely make espresso too. I'm looking forward to the culinary “cellar feeling” again soon on one of Hamburg's real boulevards, the Lange Reihe in my favorite neighborhood of St. Georg. But you have to know where the entrance is, otherwise you won't find the spot. Or use Google Maps. :-)

Bad food, bad service. Over 6 euros for lukewarm water, and the waiter seems offended if you don’t want to order dessert.

The meat was like the sole of a shoe to chew and I didn't like the taste either. My companion didn't like the food either. In addition, we were not treated particularly friendly by the service staff. In our opinion it wasn't worth the money.
