A 75cl bottle of water, warm at that, already on the table, so you have no choice, costs €7.80, with no indication of the price (not even on the menu) or any alternatives. We were prepared for an expensive restaurant, but spending €15 for a liter and a half of water ruined our dinner. It's a shame because the food was good, the waiters were friendly, and the place was lovely. But that's not how it's done; it's bad behavior!

We opted for the gourmet summer menu in advance and were here for the first time. The food was amazing, and the service was excellent and very attentive. They also have a fantastic selection of non-alcoholic aperitifs and wine. We'd love to come back. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Ahhh... a slightly cramped and dark basement... and it is PERFECT. This is a place that flows with old world romance. I had pan fried sea bass as the catch of the day. It was exquisite. I was eating off-hours, so it was not a problem to get a table. If this was a prime meal time, I imagine I would not have been seated without a reservation. I was a bit underdressed, and I got "the look" as they seemed to evaluate how much they wanted me to eat there. As soon as I ordered my meal, staff became friendly. I get it. I look like I should be sitting by the lake, drinking Javer. Instead, I appreciate paired wines and curated menues. This meal was so good that every bite gave me chills. Amusingly, the distinguished couple that was placed at a table near mine didn't stop side-eyeing me until my meal arrived, I took a first bite, made a slightly too loud "mmmmmmm," closed my eyes and sat back in bliss. Fellow lovers of food and dining, as it turned out :) After dinner I got my Javer from a bodega and went back to sitting lakeside. Hamburg is an amazing city for food and this is a place that highlights local excellence.

The place is very nice, a little cramped, but welcoming. All the dishes and side dishes are truly delicious, from the fillet steak to the schnitzel and desserts. The bill is a bit high in my opinion, but that's the only negative. The staff is very welcoming and friendly.

I sat outside. I'm a frequent visitor to Austrian cuisine and always eat a Wiener Schnitzel. I'd always had my eye on "Das Dorf" and, based on the good reviews, wanted to go there and be surprised, so I was really looking forward to it. They had the Wiener with fried potatoes and cranberries. I paid with a beer, around €43.00. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating. The outdoor seating (behind the electrical box) was very wobbly, and plants were sticking up at my neck. But okay, I was really looking forward to the Wiener Schnitzel. I got two small schnitzels, smaller than a saucer. I was super disappointed. Everything was delicious, but around €33.00 for an "amuse gueule"? I was expecting a really large schnitzel, and in the end, I was unfortunately very disappointed. The employee said the chef recommends smaller portions because people often don't eat everything. I replied that then you have to keep the price down, too. I wouldn't go there again, too bad. In Winterhude, the originals are much larger, and cranberries are included in the price (it costs €2.40 for a small bowl here). A schnitzel should extend a little over the edge of the plate.

This was our third visit to "Im Dorf" and we were absolutely thrilled again. The service (Martin) was very attentive, very friendly, and cheerful. Whether it was the melon and feta cheese salad, the homemade bread with two delicious dips, the red snapper, or the gnocchi with chanterelle mushrooms – absolutely delicious! We accompanied it with a delicious bottle of white wine (Happiness by Emil Bauer) and, of course, after an affogato, the obligatory Helbing. A fantastic dinner served by a fantastic team (kitchen and service!) who clearly enjoy their work. Keep up the great work! We'll be back again and again. 😋😃

Six of us were there as part of the gourmet summer program. The wine and food were generally excellent. Only the fish was a bit bland for us. Nevertheless, it was a very good tasting experience. The restaurant is not recommended in midsummer. It's simply too warm. But that doesn't happen often.

Within walking distance of Central Station, you'll find a cozy underground restaurant. They have a limited menu, but what they offer is quite tasty. It's a bit pricey, but that's easy to expect in a touristy neighborhood. After an hour, it quickly starts to get stuffy and hot. So, there's no time for a long, cozy meal.

The restaurant Das Dorf is a true gem for lovers of traditional German cuisine. In its cozy, rustic yet elegant atmosphere, you'll feel immediately welcome. The menu offers classic dishes such as beef roulade, Sauerbraten, and schnitzel—all freshly prepared, generously portioned, and full of flavor. The quality of the ingredients and the loving presentation are particularly impressive. The service is warm and attentive, contributing significantly to the feel-good atmosphere. The value for money is also very fair. Whether for a relaxed dinner or a convivial gathering with friends, Das Dorf is a place where you can perfectly experience German hospitality and enjoyment.

The food wasn't that great. The terrace seats were full of bugs and on the sidewalk, where homeless people often come to collect donations. There were bread crumbs from the previous customer on the tablecloth. The staff never came to take our order and the food was served slowly. They forgot to bring us cutlery, and when we ordered, they started asking us to buy liqueur. At the end, they demanded a tip. Since we were in Europe, I naturally intended to tip, but they brought out a small box and asked if we had put in a surprise (tip). The price was tourist price, more than 20% higher than other restaurants. I don't understand why they gave it such a high rating.

We had a very unpleasant situation with the portly, elderly waitress. I had worn my heels bloody in my new leather shoes, so I took them off. When our schnitzel arrived, the waitress told me I had to put my shoes on because it wasn't polite not to wear them. I told her I had blisters on my feet and therefore couldn't put them on, and she repeated several times that "you shouldn't do that," "it's not polite," and that I should put my shoes on now, and that other guests had already complained about me. (I found this quite unbelievable and couldn't imagine that one of the other guests had addressed her with something like, "Do you see that woman over there? She's not wearing any shoes! Outrageous! I feel disturbed by this during my visit to the restaurant. Could you go over there and tell her off? Thank you very much!" I perceived the atmosphere in the restaurant as relaxed and friendly, and during the eye contact I had made with other guests earlier, everyone smiled at me.) The waitress was simply very pushy and unfriendly, constantly addressing me informally while I addressed her formally, and spent several minutes talking aggressively to me instead of letting me eat the food she had just brought me. After dinner, we left immediately because we felt very uncomfortable there. We had actually been looking forward to a pleasant evening. All the other servers were very nice.

Very good authentic German food. Bordering on overpriced, but had a solid wiener schnitzel. Unfortunately, much of the experience was ruined when the waiter thought we should tip and had already been insistent that we should buy more. We had already paid way too much for the food and the service was not good.

We made a reservation on a Saturday evening. We were immediately addressed by name. We only had a short wait for our table. The food was excellent. They checked on us attentively to make sure we were okay. I would go back anytime and recommend the restaurant to all my friends with a clear conscience.

Yes, a lovely restaurant with excellent food and very friendly service. The only thing I don't like is the price of the water. At over seven euros for a bottle that costs 70 cents in the supermarket, it's pretty steep. But otherwise, I highly recommend it.

It was my first time eating at a typical German restaurant, and my expectations were more than exceeded! The Dorf restaurant is somewhat hidden away; you have to go down a flight of stairs (which we didn't even notice at first), but the visit was more than worth it. We arrived spontaneously around 9 p.m. (although the restaurant closes at 10 p.m.), and I was worried we wouldn't be served at such short notice, but the opposite was true. The service was incredibly warm, friendly, and attentive. We were immediately welcomed and looked after wonderfully. The rustic ambiance with the small table lamps and candles created a truly cozy, almost romantic atmosphere. I had the rump steak with rosemary potatoes and chanterelle mushrooms; it was a dream 😍🔥My family had gnocchi, fillet fish with risotto, and veal schnitzel; everything was delicious and prepared with lots of love. A big compliment to the service as well... attentive, friendly, and professional. We felt completely at home, and on our next visit to Hamburg, Das Restaurant Dorf is definitely on our agenda 🤍

I didn't particularly like it, and I expected more. Nothing was bad, but everything was very ordinary. Ambience: dark and cramped. Service: good, but rather summary. Food: ordinary, without any flair. I had to add more seasoning, which I rarely do.

It is worth the hype. The food is traditional German fare in a cozy dark cellar of a restaurant. Service was attentive and impeccable, but not rushed or intrusive at all. We had the pan dish of the day. My husband also tried the chocolate cake dessert and said it was wonderful. If we return to Hamburg, we will return to this restaurant. I suggest you make reservations.

A very quaint restaurant with friendly service. We visited as a family and can definitely recommend it. In addition to the cozy vaulted cellar, there's also the option of outdoor seating. The kitchen specializes in regional German cuisine, but the menu is also appealing for those who don't like fish. We're very sorry that we didn't discover this restaurant until our last day, but if we're ever in Hamburg again, "Das Dorf" will definitely be on our "must-visit" list.
