Dan Thai Food in Berlin

I tried to come 3 times during opening hours and has been always closed :/

A really good restaurant. The food was exellent, the atmosphere was really cozy and pleasant. I really recomand it for everyone.

I had already read about this special place in the newspaper and was not disappointed, I ordered crispy chicken with fantastic ginger rice, cucumbers and a sweet and sour sauce! Simply incredibly tasty! I'd love to come back 🫶🏽

Very tasty food, but waited for it 1 hour long, which I understand as only one person prepares everything. BUT this should be announced when customers order, so they know what to expect and decide whether they have that much time to wait for a plate of food or not.

Old grandma, mid-70s, cooks alone. Space for about 8 people max in the shop in winter, old, jumbled cutlery, plastic tablecloths: pure snack. No frills, just good food at reasonable prices.

Grandma cooks best! I hope for a very long time. The food is at a Thai star cuisine level, I know this because I am in Thailand every year. Yes, it takes time and yes, if someone happens to order something that someone who hasn't had their turn has already ordered, then grandma cooks twice as much, it makes sense. This may give the impression that later orders are more likely to get something, but that means others don't wait any longer! If you're so hungry that you can't wait, you should eat kebab or go to McD. If you want by far the best Thai food in Berlin, if not Germany, you'll have to wait for the privilege! The food is absolutely amazing! Really authentic and delicious Thai food. However, the restaurant is very small, so it makes sense to order take-out, but there is room for 2-3 people. Can only recommend it!

The food was good, but is it really worth waiting 1.5 hours for it?! Absolutely not. I see a lot of similar comments and don't really understand why the system isn't changed. Either through more chefs, a larger store, etc. I also think it's a cheek to only ask for cash in 2024 and then be rude if you only have coins. Overall I wouldn't come back.

100% Authentic! Pack a book and be prepared to wait (even though there might only be 2 people before you); however.. once you get your food you will understand that the waiting paid off! Super delicious, very basic Thai food!

You really can't complain about the dishes at your place. The price is great, and prepared with love. Authentic cooking is also served here. Unfortunately, the bistro is very small, so you have to be very lucky to get a seat at the table. The price is unbeatable.

Unfortunately I can't rate the food because I waited 1.5 hours and then had to leave. So plan a lot of time, everyone has to decide for themselves whether the effort is worth it!

Avoid at all costs, I waited over an hour for two meals. When my number was called, there was also the wrong food inside. Instead of an apology, I was told that it wasn't my turn yet. Means waiting another 30 minutes. I cashed out my money and left hungry. No matter how well known someone is, that's not how you treat customers.

Sorry, but queuing for an hour and a half and others who came much later and got their food within 10 minutes is a disgrace. At least cook one at a time or go to a larger store, but these long waiting times are not possible.

I really really really like this restaurant! As having the “Asian Stomach”, I strongly recommend this restaurant for foodie! All of their meals don’t miss, everything is so delicious and reminds me my home meal. It really takes time after you order your food, but definitely worth it! I hope the grannies won’t work too hard. Taking good care of their bodies.

Incredibly delicious food! If you're just looking for delicious food without any frills, this is the place for you. The food was super tasty and very inexpensive! The wait was already very long, so you definitely shouldn't come super hungry or be stressed. One lady cooked all by herself and did a great job. There is hardly any space, so it's better not to come in a larger group and payment is only possible in cash, so bring cash and plenty of time.

The food is delicious, but do you want to wait in front of the store for an hour? I've been there three times so far and each time I had to wait at least an hour. Once I even found myself standing in front of a locked door! Conclusion: unreliable.

Very, very tasty, absolutely recommended! The woman is amazing, goes shopping herself, takes orders and cooks for people despite her old age. Hats off to this lady.

Incredibly delicious food, highly recommended in this regard. BUT: Payment is only possible in cash, communication is poor and the time is always “in 15 minutes”. We actually waited an hour outside the store for our food. The atmosphere is rather rustic, but nice. So bring cash and plenty of time.

If I lived nearby, I would go to Dan Thai almost every day. The pad thai is hands down the best pad thai I have had in Berlin. It's on par with the pad thai I had in Bangkok. The thai sausage and rice are also very, very delicious. Please note that she cooks most of the dishes by herself, so the wait time can be long, but it's worth it. The prices are also really good and the portions are quite decent.

One of the best Pad Thais I've ever eaten. Amazing price and delicious. I would like to try the other dishes. There might be a wait. It's a small restaurant that serves such good food. If you're impatient, go at a time when there are fewer people.

What a warm and lovely place. I felt very welcome and the two women were really nice. I had number 22 and it was really tasty. But next time I'll try something different! PS: There is only room for about 6 people inside: that's why most people take it with them. It is also usually relatively full. It's also really cheap. Price/performance: Absolute 10/10!

Best Thai green curry I ever had in my life anywhere in the world! Service is very slow because everything is cooked fresh by one lady so don’t go if you’re in a rush Also not sure how much cross contamination occurs if you have dietary restrictions maybe check

If you're just looking for delicious food without any frills, this is the place for you. The food was super tasty and very inexpensive! The wait was already very long, so you definitely shouldn't come super hungry or be stressed. But if you're prepared for it, it's great. One lady cooked all by herself and did a great job, so it takes time and that's okay.

The Thai food at Dan Thai is simply the most authentic in Berlin, if not in all of Europe. I have never found a better red curry anywhere else in Europe. My recommendation! Waiting times must be planned for. I would recommend ordering food locally and using the waiting time, which can be up to 45 minutes at peak times, to shop at Lidl or similar and then enjoy the food at home, especially if you live around the corner. Otherwise, you'll be lucky to find a seat inside, as reservations are not possible in the 10 square meter interior. This is where taste matters; If you're expecting a fancy restaurant experience or are looking for a quick grab & go experience, you're in the wrong place here.

You want to eat like you did with grandma in Thailand? You want to feel like sitting in that alley in Bangkok again eating fresh out of the wok pad kra pao? Then come here!!! The wok is hot 6 days a week. Bring some time as grandma cooks every dish herself. 10/10 authentic Thai!

This is the best Thai food and high recommended from Thai people. If you would like to try some original seem like you eat in Thailand’s local place should come here. The chef (we call her ‘Pa Tan its mean Tan aunty) she so kind and take care the customer like grandson granddaughter. Because she a bit old maybe the food needs to wait for long but for sure you will get the best Thai food that you ever try

Waited 50 minutes for 2 dishes that were so spicy that you didn't taste anything apart from the spiciness. For that, tens per dish. I can't think of a single reason in the world why you should do something like that voluntarily.

It has basically become my little canteen. Most of the prices are 7/8 euros and the taste is pretty good. It's just that business is so good every time that I have to wait for a while. Tried: 7 Khao Muh Daeng Red Pork + Fried Pork + Sweet Sausage + Egg, served with rice ——A combination of three kinds of pork. The red pork is thin slices of slightly braised meat, the fried pork is also very fragrant, and the sausage is sweet. The accompanying sweet and spicy sauce also relieves the greasiness of fried pork. 19 Guay Jub Pig offal (heart, liver, lung and tongue) and rice noodle rolls ——It’s delicious! Last time I saw a Thai girl ordering this bowl of pork offal soup. The offal has no special taste and is cut relatively thinly. It is soaked in a sweet soy sauce-flavored powder soup and is very tasty and not dry. And the fried tofu is full of soup! The chef’s grandma specially reminded me to add some chili juice and chili powder. 20 Guay Tiaw Nam Red Pork and Fish Ball Noodle Soup ——The same as the red pork in 7, it is braised five-spice thin slices, paired with fish balls, it is a classic noodle soup 26 Phad Thai Chicken or shrimp fried rice noodles ——The shrimps were sold out when I went there, and the chicken fried noodles were also pretty good. As a child growing up in Hainan Island, of course I add ketchup to the stir-fried noodles! Just cult and the feeling of home. Yes, you wait a long time, yes, every now and then you are forgotten and yes, there is hardly any space, but it's just like being in Bangkok, in a small alley, when you're still in the mood for Pad Krapao at 1 a.m. Madam Dan is kind, chaotic and funny. The food tastes good and is cheap these days. Yes, there are restaurants that are perhaps more attractive, but they just don't have the feeling of Thailand.

Don’t expect much from the service or atmosphere. It’s a hole in the wall restaurant with only 1 old Thai lady cooking. Only maximum 6 people can sit inside so the wait might be long. But the classic Thai dishes are cheap and delicious.

I ordered Khao Muh Daeng (thinly sliced crispy Pork Belly and home-made sweet Pork) paired with white rice, boiled egg and 2 different Thai sauces. Thai food never fail me. It was very tasty and yet not expensive. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 And as for the restaurant itself, it is quite small and can only accommodate 8 sitting people. I hope they could relocate in a more spacious area but of course still within the Reinickendorfer Strasse. I will definitely go back and try their other dishes! 😊

Es gibt kein Service oder Ambiente sondern man bestellt der Reihe nach wenn man danach gefragt wird und wartet dann 30 min. Aber zu Recht!

Das Ambiente ist furchtbar, das Essen ist eher durchschnittlich, eben Imbiss.

Wer Bangkok kennt ,versteht die autentische Küche und diese reizende ,,old lady, ich war begeistert.

This is legit the best Thai restaurant (and food) I've ever had! The atmosphere was peaceful, it felt like time stopped for a few minutes; the food was incredibly amazing; and the lovely old woman had such a great sense of humour. Totally made my night, this is next level Thai cuisine!

Had an incredible Thai green curry here!! Up there with the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Amazing flavour combination, so authentic. My partner had a pad Thai which was also delicious. We went when it was quiet so food didn’t even take long at all :) very good value too

They don’t even deserve an half star. They kicked us out because we were with kids. Not kids friendly, super rude. As they said, go somewhere else if you are with kids👍🏾

The place is horrible, under our table there were empty bottles of beer and the smell was all over, the staff rude and we got food poisoning.. I guess I was expecting a very local Thai experience and I got everything but what I was hoping for :(

Amazing, The food's cheap and tasty. Pad thai and soup were very good, both packed with shrimp and meat. The auntie cooking is so kind and sweet, she really wants you too have some good food, if you don't like particular items she will exchange them for you. You'll have to wait for your food a little longer and be lucky to get a seat but that is totally fine considering the whole experience. We will be back for sure.

Eine absolute Perle der thailändischen Restaurants in Berlin. Rein abgesehen vom warmen und sympathischen Ambiente im Laden selbst, ist das Essen echte Spitzenklasse.

Habe großes Verständnis, dass man länger warten muss, aber ich verstehe nicht, wenn man nach etlichen Jahren Erfahrung sich komplett falsch einschätzt und mit der Wartezeit so dermaßen untertreibt. Entweder es ist Absicht und die Dame lügt, oder sie kann einfach nach all den Jahren in dem Business immer noch nicht einschätzen, wie lang sie pro Gericht braucht. Sie sagte mir es würde ca. 40 min dauern. Ich habe aber 3x so lange gewartet!! Also über 120 Minuten auf ein Pad Thai. Fänds einfach fair, wenn sie mit den Kunden transparent ist und ehrlich sagt, dass es über eine std dauern wird, anstatt so zu tun, als würde es „schnell“ gehen.
