Das leckerste Essen im schönsten Lokal von Gießen

Die Pizza war sehr gut und das Tiramisu köstlich! Der Service der Bedienung war aber herausragend; sie war äußerst aufmerksam und freundlich. Die Speisekarte ist sehr umfangreich und die Preise sind gut.

Der Moma-Besitzer lässt - nachdem er in aggressiven Antworten auf die Rezensionen die jeweils bewertenden beschimpft - negative Bewertungen löschen. Wer einen tatsächlichen Eindruck möchte, sollte sich an die Tripadvisor Bewertungen halten. Die spiegeln das Erlebnis in diesem Restaurant deutlich besser wieder. Unsere ursprüngliche - jetzt gelöschte - Rezension war: Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 9 Leuten hier essen. 8 von uns haben Pizza bestellt, eine Person Nudeln. Nachdem die Kellnerin unsere Bestellung aufgenommen hatte, kam sie nochmal zurück mit der Aussage "8 Pizzen passen nicht in den Ofen, wer bestellt etwas anderes?" Nachdem wir dann sagten, es sei vollkommen okay, wenn die Pizzen nicht zusammen kämen, ob man sie also nicht einfacg nacheinander backen könne, durften wir dann doch bei unserer Essenswahl bleiben. Die Pizzen kamen dann auch doch alle gleichzeitig, waren aber kalt. Das "gegrillte mediterrane Gemüse" auf der Pizza "Fräulein Müller trifft Burrata" waren rohe Pilze, rohe Zwiebeln und rohe Zucchini. Also alles andere als Grillgemüse. Die meisten Pizzen waren außerdem nicht vorgeschnitten und mit den vorhandenen Messern kaum zu schneiden. Auch die Zitronennudeln waren leider relativ geschmacklos. Gleichzeitig hatten es die Preise jedoch echt in sich, was sich leider nicht in der Qualität widergespiegelt hat. Das Ambiente ist zwar hübsch, allerdings haben wir (wir sind alle Ende 20) uns nicht wirklich willkommen gefühlt. Summasummarum gibt es da echt preiswertere und bessere Restaurants in Gießen. Wenn man sich seine positiven Bewertungen erfaken muss, sagt das schon genug über ein Restaurant aus.

**Logik à la MoMà: „Teilen verboten, sonst Kasse.“** Meine ursprüngliche Rezension wurde nach einer Meldung entfernt. Google begründete dies mit angeblich diffamierenden Inhalten. Da ich den geschilderten Vorfall selbst erlebt habe und meine Rezension meine persönliche Erfahrung wahrheitsgemäß wiedergab, veröffentliche ich sie erneut. Auf dem Unternehmensprofil wird mir außerdem angezeigt, dass 21 von 50 Rezensionen wegen angeblicher Diffamierung entfernt wurden. Diese Information ist für jeden Nutzer sichtbar und jeder kann sich dazu selbst ein Bild machen. Ebenfalls öffentlich bekannt ist die Teilnahme des Restaurants an der Sendung *Mein Lokal, Dein Lokal*. Mir ist lediglich aufgefallen, dass die Entfernung zahlreicher Rezensionen zeitlich mit der angekündigten Ausstrahlung zusammenfällt. Ob dies in irgendeinem Zusammenhang steht, kann und möchte ich nicht beurteilen. Zu unserem Besuch: Wir waren zu viert und bestellten eine Vorspeisenplatte für zwei Personen sowie jeweils eine Hauptspeise. Kurz darauf wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass die Vorspeise für mehr Personen zubereitet worden sei und deshalb auch entsprechend mehr Personen bezahlen müssten. Trotz mehrfacher Erklärung, dass wir ausdrücklich nur eine Platte für zwei Personen bestellt hatten, blieb das Restaurant bei dieser Auffassung. Als „Kompromiss“ sollten wir schließlich für drei Personen zahlen. Der Inhaber erklärte uns anschließend sinngemäß, dass bei vier Personen am Tisch auch vier Personen zahlen müssten, wenn alle von der Vorspeise essen. Für uns war diese Vorgehensweise weder nachvollziehbar noch kundenorientiert. Wir bezahlten lediglich unsere Getränke, ließen die Vorspeise unberührt stehen und verließen das Restaurant. Deshalb kann ich die Qualität des Essens ausdrücklich nicht bewerten. Mein persönliches Fazit: Wer hier essen möchte, sollte sich vor der Bestellung genau erklären lassen, wie das Restaurant das Teilen von Vorspeisen handhabt, damit es nicht zu vergleichbaren Missverständnissen kommt. Wer sich außerdem die öffentlich einsehbaren Antworten des Inhabers auf kritische Rezensionen durchliest, kann sich selbst ein Bild vom Umgangston machen.

Ganz ehrlich, hier schmeckt es mir sehr gut sogar. Keine Ahnung was andere für Geschmacksnerven haben. Egal was man bestellt, immer frische Zutaten, einfach nur KLASSE. Die Bedienung und auch der Koch sind sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wenn ich in Gießen bin, gehe ich gerne mit meinem Sohn dort was Essen. Freue mich schon auf ein Wiedersehen.

Mit Abstand die beste Pizza Gießens. Mir war bis heute nicht bewusst, das knusprige und fluffige Pizzen sich nicht ausschließen. Der Steinofen gibt ein gutes Aroma. Absolutes Highlight ist die Pizza Carnivoro für Fleischliebhaber und das Tiramisu zum Abschluss, inklusive einer sehr zuvorkommender Bedingung, was heute leider nicht mehr selbstverständlich ist. Alles im allem ein Top Erlebnis, wir kommen wieder!

Essen und Qualität sehr gut. Unsere persönliche Meinung ist, dass die Preise mittlerweile zu hoch sind.

Ich durfte nicht die Örtlichkeiten nutzen. Obwohl ich auch einen kleinen Obolus da lassen wollte, verweigerten die mir den Zugang zur Toilette. Personal ist Unfreundlich und ordinär. Nachtrag: Die Beiträge des Besitzers siehe (unten Kommentar) scheinen die Einstellung des Gesamtpersonals wiederzuspiegeln. Ergo demonstrandum.

Tolles, hochwertiges Essen, netter Service und authentisches Ambiente. Die Preise haben es allerdings in sich. Die Pizzen liegen um die 20€. Die meisten Pastagerichte zwischen 20€ und 30€. Auch bei den Getränken zieht sich das sehr gehobene Preisniveau durch. Für uns stimmt hier trotz der positiv genannten Punkte das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis leider nicht.

I live in London, have travelled to Italy on numerous occasions and can easily say that Moma served some of the best pizza and pasta I have ever eaten. It’s a gem in the town. A must visit! Highly recommend the chicken cesar salad, rigatoni meatballs, any of the pizzas and the chocolate mousse. Phenomenal!

Two polite eleven-year-old boys – my son and his cousin – wanted to share a pizza at MoMA around 2 p.m. They had €30 in cash. Actually, that was enough – we thought. But they were sent away: "Not enough money? Then please leave." No consideration, no conversation. Instead of hospitality: principles. I wrote this review because I was disappointed – by the way two children were treated at lunchtime. But what followed was far more revealing: My brother-in-law confronted him personally – calmly and directly. He recently celebrated with the entire family at the restaurant. The owner's reaction? Insults. No conversation. No respect. Just loudness and attack. This behavior unfortunately confirms what many have already experienced: Anyone who expresses criticism here is not taken seriously – but attacked. Online and offline. This unfortunately fits the picture perfectly: Criticism is not heard here, but rather combated. Anyone who asks questions or addresses grievances is personally attacked – whether online or in person. This reaction was no exception, but rather confirms exactly what many reviews have already suggested: a tone that no longer has anything to do with hospitality. We waited forever for the menus, the table was dirty (crumbs and stains from the previous guest) - only after we asked was it wiped down. My meal was solid. My companion had specifically requested no chili. The pizza came with chili. Instead of making us a new pizza, we were given a voucher for a Prosecco on our next visit. Mistakes happen, and it's not a big deal, but I think not simply making a new pizza is bad. Especially for a €20 pizza, customer service looks different to me. (Only lowered the two stars after the owner's response.) Edit following the owner's very unprofessional and insulting response: We were not offered a replacement pizza. We were offered to have the chili and salami removed in the kitchen. For €20, I find that unacceptable. We communicated all of this directly and clearly to you and your staff. This was the best gluten-free pizza I have ever eaten. Unfortunately there is only gluten-free pasta available. Very unfortunate and sad. According to the accompaniment, the normal pizza also tastes great. I also think the unusual toppings are great. Not always just Tuscany etc.

The food was very, very tasty. There was Neapolitan pizza and pasta with meatballs which were also excellent. It's a cozy restaurant. The waitress was very friendly, but she took away my plate where I had just taken the last bite. That surprised me a bit. The pizza rolls also came at the same time as the main course and not beforehand, which was a bit of a shame. Maybe we could pay a little more attention to little things like that. But we will be happy to come back because we really enjoyed it. 😊

Absolute recommendation! After several visits to Momá, I can say with confidence that the pizza here tastes really good. A very well baked, crispy pizza with good ingredients and appropriate toppings. The selection of pizza and pasta variations is special, which sets them apart from other pizzerias. The price is rather higher, but it's definitely worth it for the quality. The waitresses were always very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Our special requests for pizza were also taken into account without any problems. Unfortunately, the restaurant is a bit smaller, which means you have to sit quite close to other guests or in the aisle. In summer there is the option to sit outside in front of the restaurant. I really like going here to eat a good pizza and get pleasant service. I can't understand the 1-star reviews and recommend that everyone make up their own minds. It's worth it :)

Super delicious food at fair prices, cozy atmosphere and nice staff!

We were in the restaurant with a group of eight people and felt completely at home. The service was excellent - the staff were very friendly, attentive and always tried to accommodate our needs. What is particularly noteworthy is that despite the larger group, our order was served quickly and without delays. The waiters were always there without being intrusive and gave us very good advice with recommendations about the menu. It was a pleasant atmosphere and we felt really well looked after. An all-round successful evening!

We were at Moma today with a group of five people. We got a table by the door that was set up for four people. We were a bit irritated and secretly hoped that our table would be different. I asked the young waitress in a completely neutral tone. She then explained that otherwise they would have added a table next to it. Understood. The service was super friendly. It was our first time in the restaurant because it was recommended to us and everything was perfect! The food was delicious and the restaurant is also beautifully decorated. We were able to totally enjoy the evening.

Best pizza in Giessen! Simply bomb!

I would also like to comment on our visit on St. Nicholas Friday, as we were a group of two (+baby) and I am also disappointed with the service and staff. The pizza is edible, that's for sure - I can't recommend the rest of this place based on our subjective experience in the shop. Unfortunately the staff are very unfriendly, not to mention the owner. You might think that as an innkeeper you have mastered how to deal with customers in a polite manner. Unfortunately we were treated very unfriendly and inhospitable here. Our baby, who was present, was probably the problem for the boss - so we were apparently "at the bottom" from the start and this man could no longer be persuaded to be friendly. The icing on the cake was that we were charged 5 euros for a PAPER card that arrived at half past eight, already completely filthy from the start and just hanging on a paper clip, because the baby in an unnoticed moment left it hanging at half past seven PAPER card in hand and the last office clip has come loose. It seems like things are going very badly for the restaurant if they charge for paper tickets. As if a baby would do something like that on purpose!? This is simply incomprehensible to me. Apparently you couldn't talk about it politely like civilized people and get rid of problems - instead you thought you had to give up all friendliness - although that was already very sparse from the start. Friendliness is different and so of course you don't want to go to this restaurant anymore. Incidentally, the owner's answers to any critical reviews are only a reflection of how customers are treated! You can get a nice picture there.

The pizza is delicious, but relatively expensive - and since you somehow not only “pay” for the food, but also for good service, I can only say: ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED. The service is UNDERGROUND; really out of this world! Except for a very nice middle-aged Italian waiter, all other employees - and especially the boss - are unfriendly and inhospitable. You simply shouldn't treat your guests like that... About our 45 minute experience in this restaurant this evening: We stopped by spontaneously, the two of us with a baby, and asked if anything was available, otherwise we would move on. They said yes and gave us a tiny table for two in the hallway - but okay. That wouldn't have been a problem at all. The “problem” in the form of a boss came two minutes later, we didn’t even order the drinks, with the words “that shouldn’t sound negative (but it sounded like that 😅, very negative!!!) but that has to be here now “Go quickly, I need the table straight away.” Apparently the place thinks of itself as a more “upscale” restaurant, but the menu looks like it’s from a snack bar – simply on paper. So does the wine list. Unfortunately, my little 13-month-old daughter got one of those tattered and creased paper wine lists in her hand and used it to loosen the second paper clip that holds the pages together in the middle. We were then charged 5 euros(!) for the card. This was told to us in a very flippant and arrogant manner by the waitress, who had never heard of the phrase “the guest/customer is king” because we had never been served so unfriendly and simply badly. You can only wish this restaurant had friendly staff, it's really a disgrace. I actually wanted to try out the place in advance for a celebration - now I'm very, very happy to have gotten a feel for the place and to be able to look for a friendlier atmosphere with nice waitresses. Going out like that is just not fun. Addendum: Unfortunately, you can wait in vain for “good nature” and “hospitality” here. The owner's answers to legitimate criticism, which are immediately personal and baseless (see also all the previous critical reviews) show more of a picture of the "mind" of the owner - just like the answers here on Google, by the way Guest treated. The restaurant is certainly suitable for a quick, impersonal business lunch if you like the atmosphere and the “hospitality” of the staff - but I would definitely not recommend a romantic dinner or a get-together with friends based on the experience with my family last night . This is our completely subjective opinion. As I said - the answers and the treatment of the guests in general says more about the owner than about his customers - Fortunately, we are not the only ones who legitimately criticize the service and gaslighting in the answer format doesn't help either. The perception of being unwanted, which was there from second one, did not deceive us and was real. It's unfortunate that you still "take money out of the customers' pockets" instead of telling them that the place is too full or whatever - there are soooo great places on the entire Plockstrasse that we would have used - Within walking distance there is a great Italian who has really made hospitality a sport and has high expectations of himself to be friendly to customers! You can have an excellent experience there - whether with children, as a couple, with family - you will be welcomed. We would have liked to have been spared yesterday evening, Giessen definitely doesn't need this place and given the movements in this place before, it certainly won't last long with such impulsive, completely unreflective answers (and of course the behavior in general).

Very nice atmosphere and friendly service. Really pleasant. It's a shame, however, that we didn't like the pasta. Bland. Hardly any spices. And anything but truly Italian. There used to be a Persian restaurant in the shop that I liked, but this ristorante has as much in common with Italian cuisine as ghormeh sabzi (a Persian meal) has with pork knuckle, namely nothing. The pasta was supposed to taste like lemon 🍋...well, it was floating in water and somewhere I found three small lemon zests. My friend had ordered the pasta with fillet tips, but she was desperately looking for fillet in the dish. All in all, not a culinary highlight for us.

During a visit six months ago, the boss of this restaurant noticed me displaying uncivilized behavior: He absolutely didn't want me to ask one or two questions to the counter worker and even make some small talk with this person. He also accused me of approaching the two people at the next table in the next moment and disturbing their conversation. That wasn't my intention at all. Is the boss crazy, is he angry with some guests (see also his comments on various reviews)? The boss of this restaurant definitely comes from a less educated background!

Super nice evening. Service was very pleasant...always there but not intrusive. The menu isn't too full but everything is so good that it's hard to decide. Price-performance ratio great. We'll be back.

Great ambience, super friendly staff, food very tasty. I can only recommend everyone to get an impression for themselves. Class: Dogs are also allowed. The best Italian restaurant in a long time. Of course we'll be back.

A very big recommendation! I've never had such good gluten-free pizza. A very warm boss who cares deeply about customer contact and well-being. Great team, cozy and modern furnishings, very good food - what more could you want?

We were there with a large group and we all got the food at the same time and it worked out very well! Pizza and home-baked bread were very tasty!
