Beautiful ambiance + point Great service + point The food itself was very tasty... BUT... There were four of us, and we pre-ordered a whole goose. Yes, we knew it would cost a hefty 200 euros. We received a bowl of Brussels sprouts, a bowl of red cabbage, gravy, and six dumplings. In addition, four small plates arrived, each containing two wings and two drumsticks. We assumed the breast, etc. (the rest of the goose) would be served later. Therefore, we didn't order any additional side dishes. The plates were cleared, and after we inquired, we were told that this was all. The breast was supposed to be attached to the drumsticks and wings. Sorry, absolutely not... we go out for goose every year... and are happy to spend a bit more. But that was a complete rip-off... Discussing it was pointless since the waitress made it clear to us that that was it... we noticed that other guests were also very surprised. I find it really sad that such an experience and the owner's greed drive away customers, even though the service and the atmosphere are very nice... A real shame...

We were there Saturday evening with a reservation. (Without booking in advance, you hardly stand a chance of getting a table inside.) The ambiance is very inviting, a successful blend of modern and rustic charm. The service was very friendly and attentive, even when the restaurant was full. The food was delicious, and you could taste the quality of the ingredients. The value for money is definitely good, as they clearly put a lot of love into their work and use good, regional products. We'll gladly come back.

I'm deducting a point because of the following, in my opinion, unacceptable thing: When making a reservation, it's neither indicated nor communicated that the reservation is for outdoor seating. While this is perfectly normal in summer, especially for an apple wine tavern, it's completely unacceptable in November when it's 7 degrees Celsius. Many thanks to the incredibly friendly staff who were still able to find us a table inside.

I was here last Thursday for a business lunch, and the restaurant met our expectations 100%. A classic apple wine tavern with superb food, but above all, excellent service! Our server spoke perfect English with our English-speaking partners and explained the Frankfurt specialties to them. It was the perfect location for us, and we would definitely recommend it!

The food was very good, it's a shame the waiter ripped us off. He added a €10 "tip" to the final bill, assuring us it was standard practice. It was only after reading the reviews on our way out (thank you, by the way) that we realized it was a rip-off. We went back to demand our money back, which we finally got after some stammering and mentioning "tips" and then "taxes." Anyway, all this to say they know what they're doing. I recommend the food because it's very good and there's a good variety of dishes, but be very careful with the prices and don't be afraid to insist on not paying the tip, even if the waiter assures you it's normal. It's a real shame.

Thanks to the gentleman sitting next to our table, we got introduced to a traditional Frankfurt dish and decided to give it a try. He even offered me a bite, and I was honestly surprised by how delicious it was! If you’re curious about the famous green sauce or follow a vegetarian diet, definitely try it. By the way, my hubby had the Schweinshaxe and said it was the best meat he’s had during our time in Germany. The portion was quite generous for me, so I couldn’t finish it all — but it was so good I actually wished I could take the rest home. It was funny to realize there was no one on the streets because everyone seemed to be here, A must visit spot!

I've been there several times. In a small group, it was good and tasty. In a very large group, unfortunately, there were very long waits and mediocre food. They were probably a bit overwhelmed with the large group (but it was booked well in advance). So it's better to go in a small group and enjoy a good time. 😌

The food was good, like any other large restaurant, and the portions were generous. The restaurant was completely full, even on a Monday night (150 seats inside, 250 outside). The kitchen was overwhelmed on our evening; we ordered at 8 p.m., but the food didn't arrive until 10 p.m. The service was okay. On the other hand, I won't subject myself to this kind of crowd-pleasing experience again.

A very quaint place, the seating is comfortable even if it doesn't look like it in the photos 🙂 We didn't have a reservation and were seated next to other people, which wasn't a bad thing; you quickly find something to talk about. No parking available, so it's best to leave your car in the parking garage. In summer, you can probably also sit outside.

The food was very, very delicious! The schnitzels were tender as butter, and the green sauce tasted just like butter. The salad was generous and filling. The service was competent, provided detailed advice, and left nothing to be desired. The price-performance ratio is absolutely reasonable and comparable to other traditional restaurants in the area.

What an AMAZING experience!! This pub & restaurant was recommended by our son from a previous visit he had. We were on an overnight layover in Frankfort, headed back to the United States. So, we thought would try it out. They did not disappoint. The food & the atmosphere were incredible. Everyone in the place was extremely friendly and invited us in. If you are ever in Frankfort, this is a bucket list stop. Alex and Stephan were great hosts.

We sat in the beer garden, idyllically situated in an inner courtyard. It was busy with only a few staff, so over an hour passed between the starter and the main course. Other guests were also waiting for drinks, food, or the bill. BUT, the way the restaurant handles complaints is excellent. To compensate for the wait, we were allowed to choose a dessert and a medlar from the menu. The steak, which was initially medium rare instead of English, was immediately replaced with a perfectly cooked one. They apologized several times for the inconvenience. If you can live with all of this, you can have a wonderful evening. It's important to say right away if something isn't right so the restaurant can take care of it. The food was very good; the mushroom salad starter came in a (small) glass bowl with plenty of fresh bread, butter, and a small bowl of caraway seeds. The side salad was truly generous, colorfully mixed, and very well-seasoned. The steak was excellent! It melted in your mouth, no blood on the plate, more like a dry-aged dish, with delicious fried potatoes (made from unpeeled potatoes) and a generous salad bouquet. We also got a salt and pepper shaker from the next table and enjoyed it! The schnitzels were also very good. The green sauce ice cream took some getting used to, but it had a really interesting flavor and lingered on the tongue for a long time.

Great apple wine pub in Sachsenhausen. Beautifully decorated for Christmas in December. The apple wine is delicious, and the Grie sauce is perfect! The meatballs and appetizers were also good. We were looking for a good apple wine bar when chance helped us a bit: A man who overheard our conversation on a bench turned out to be a chef from the Lohrsbachertal Valley – and immediately recommended his restaurant to us. A recommendation that was absolutely worth it! The entrance itself is very inviting and beautifully designed. We were warmly welcomed right outside and escorted to our table. Inside, the typical atmosphere of an apple wine bar immediately emerges – cozy, authentic, and perfectly executed down to the last detail. The menu isn't extensive, which clearly speaks volumes about the quality. The sauerkraut with the ribs was incredibly delicious and flavorful. We were also particularly impressed by the snack: a meatball with mashed potatoes and onion jam – simply a dream! The entire team was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. We felt completely at home. A big thank you for this wonderful evening – we'll definitely be back!

In the heart of the lively and tourist-friendly Sachsenhausen, we were guests at "Daheim im Loesbacher Thal." We entered the courtyard through an archway, where we were seated. Our orders were taken quickly, and drinks and appetizers arrived promptly. The menu, full of local flavor, offered something for everyone. It was nice that various regional producers were also mentioned among the individual dishes. This is a testament to the quality. I opted for Bernd's meatballs, which, accompanied by mashed potatoes and salad, made their way to my stomach and were very tasty. A small downside: Sometimes we didn't receive our food until others in the group had already finished. Overall, though, it was a lovely evening with good food and a definite recommendation. P.S. We had reserved a table the day before, which I highly recommend. It was very pleasant to sit in the garden restaurant. A great menu with a seasonal mushroom menu made it difficult to choose, as everything sounded good. We finally settled on the Lady Haxe (smaller pork knuckle) and a schnitzel with fresh mushrooms. High-quality and fresh, the dishes advertised on the menu, cooked without additives or flavor enhancers, were truly delicious. Absolutely justified value for money, and the staff provided excellent service. We'd happily return here to try more of the excellent menu.

Top shop, very cozy, delicious schnitzel, non-alcoholic apple wine

Easily accessible in the heart of Altsax. A positive, though, is that you don't really notice much, as it's a well-shaded courtyard. A classic apple wine pub, but definitely "less rustic, more good," with the great advantage of never having had a bad meal there. We had Schneegestöber (snow flute) to start with, followed by Frankfurter schnitzel. Along with it, we had Schoppen (a glass of wine), and for dessert, the Apfelküchli (apple fritters). A classic, medlar-like dish. We often enjoy it.

Great place with a lovely atmosphere, good food, and great service! I highly recommend the vegan Frankfurt schnitzel! It arrived hot and fresh and tasted amazing. One downside, however, was that we unfortunately had to wait over an hour for our food, which is too long in my opinion, even when it's busy.

We visited the Lorsbacher Thal and tried the veal schnitzel with fried potatoes and green sauce (price: €27.90). The schnitzel was nice and crispy and very flavorful – however, one of the two pieces was a bit fatty, so it lost a star. The fried potatoes were golden brown and delicious, and the green sauce was fresh and spicy – a great regional complement to the schnitzel. 🍋🥔🌿 The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and traditional; you immediately feel welcome. The service was consistently friendly and attentive, making our visit a pleasant one. 👍 Overall, a successful visit – good food, nice people, beautiful place.

Nine of us were guests at the Lorsbacher Thal on August 9th. I could write here about what we all liked. However, the best impression of this place is gained by taking a close look at the menu, and ideally, reading it all. Our conclusion: We can 100% confirm everything written about the quality of the food and drinks and the love for the restaurant. Everyone enjoyed the food, the outdoor area with the old vine was quaint, and the service was top-notch. No - wait a minute... The service wasn't top-notch! It was excellent!!! A huge thank you goes to our waiter Joshua, who always served us drinks and food with a big smile. We've rarely seen someone show such outward passion for their job. If we had a restaurant ourselves, we would definitely poach him! It was lovely with you, truly lovely! Unfortunately, we don't live nearby, otherwise you would have nine more regulars by now. Warm greetings from the Sauerland region from the “frail ones.”

Came here for the apfelwein. I was told they had 300 different apfelweins. When we arrived the server said it was, in fact, over 500 different apfelweins. So we were a little confused why the menu mentioned maybe 25 different ciders. We asked about two house ciders that apparently sells out so fast they don't have any. So we settled for the one they had which tasted just like any average Possman cider. I asked about the 500 ciders, and after much chin and neck scratching I was told I would have to come back as they are in the cellar. Bottom line, I do not trust this place at all. 25 ciders max. And I do not trust that what I receive is the cider i ordered. Avoid.

We were at the Lohrsbacher Thal a few weeks ago. It was simply perfect! Stefan and the entire service team were exceptional hosts. We experienced such warmth. You can feel the positive energy throughout your stay. The food was amazing... Schnitzel with green sauce, knuckle of pork, salads. A must for everyone. We'd be happy to come back anytime. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio here is completely out of reach. I wasn't full after a schnitzel for just under €22. The portions were very small. The salad (€18.90) is far too expensive for a small salad with half a thinly sliced feta cheese. It was lightly seasoned, the dressing was poor, and the bread was stale. Tourists who really want to experience Frankfurt should look for another restaurant in Frankfurt.

My rib was very salty. The staff didn't care about empty drinks or requests for payment. The atmosphere was very nice, and the restrooms were clean.

I came here with my grandmother as a small child. I was born in Sachsenhausen and have experienced the restaurant's highs and lows. Today, in 2025, at 75, I'm still enthusiastic. The food is very, very good, the Äppler (apple wine) is more than good, and the service is perfect. I keep coming back. Renate

We were there for a family celebration. The service was very friendly and fulfilled almost every request. Unfortunately, one or two drinks were forgotten, but that's okay since there were quite a few people there. The outdoor seating area is beautifully designed and invites you to linger.

German food. Good price and portions.

We were able to sit outside under a tree and enjoy the beautiful weather. It's worth getting the appetizers if you want to sample Frankfurt's cuisine. They come with bread (you can order more) and are therefore quite filling. The schnitzel was delicious and buttery. The fried potatoes turned out to be baby potatoes without bacon – incredibly tasty. But the green sauce was definitely the star of all the dishes for us. The prices are reasonable. It should be explicitly stated that the starters and main courses should be served together if you wish. Unfortunately, the waiter missed this when we ordered, and so one person sat waiting for a long time for their food. He was clearly sorry, but it was still unpleasant for us and unfortunately diminished our experience. You have to get used to the taste of the apple wine. Unfortunately, the waiter who served us first didn't point out the small apple wine tasting, even though we couldn't decide and sought his advice. The other waiters were noticeably more skilled and friendly in their service. The young waiter with dark hair was especially courteous.

Top notch service and surroundings!

An absolutely unprofessional disaster. We had reserved a table for a group of 15 people, and three tables had been reserved for us. Within less than 10 minutes, the waiter gave our third table to another group and squeezed us onto two tables. After almost two hours, we gradually received our food, after the table next to us, which was taken from us. We pointed out to the waiter that it couldn't be possible for the table next to us to get food if they arrived after us (at our third table). Then he blatantly lied to us and claimed they had ordered earlier, even though that wasn't true. When we told him that wasn't true, he didn't apologize and just left. I fully understand that it takes a little longer during peak times, but a two-hour wait is simply unheard of, and blatantly lying is simply unprofessional. We usually enjoy coming here because the food is usually quite tasty, but the schnitzel isn't so good that you have to wait two hours for it. I had the seasonal version with mushrooms and a corresponding dark sauce. The sauce tasted like a packet of sauce, quite inappropriate for a restaurant that claims to be "from local farmer Bernd." By the way, it wasn't possible to dry my hands in the women's restroom either. A sign indicated that they didn't provide paper towels, but there was no alternative except for the toilet paper in the stalls. All in all, a very disappointing experience. Either we caught a bad night or they've seriously slacked off here. In the future, I'll prefer to enjoy my schnitzel somewhere else. EDIT Addition after the owner's response: Even though I find it very commendable how you try to protect your employees, the attack on me and the claim that I would be lying when you weren't even there to assess the situation is inappropriate. A little tip for you: if the business is overwhelmed by the number of guests, don't squeeze in more people to increase your sales, as happened with our third table. Then the overload might be kept to a minimum.

We had a very pleasant evening at the Lorsbacher Thal, where 12 people were there for our annual business team dinner. The food was delicious; even the vegetarians were very happy with the selection. We were particularly impressed by the exceptional friendliness and warmth of the staff. They repeatedly asked if everything was okay, we lacked nothing, and we were greeted with the words: "It's great to have you here!" It was a memorable experience – we felt completely at home and are already looking forward to the next time. Thanks to the entire team!

I was there today with a few friends and think this restaurant is a true highlight in Frankfurt! Cozy, authentic, and delicious – the apple wine was first-class, the food – regional, fresh, and delicious. They even have non-alcoholic cider ☺️ The 5th star is a prelude and motivation to FINALLY offer plant-based milk for coffee and plant-based desserts. A whole page of plant-based options and then no dessert and no coffee? That's such a shame. I would have preferred to leave my money with you instead of at the bakery at the train station with apple turnovers and oat milk latte macchiatos :( (For coffee with plant-based milk, you don't need to buy or convert a fully automatic machine. There are good, catering-grade milk frothers for €70, and you'll make so many guests happy :) And apple rings are incredibly easy to make, coated in a batter made from just wheat flour and plant-based milk, and then fried. You also save yourself the cost of eggs. Apple pie is also easy to make with a completely plant-based base. You can buy ready-made vegan apple strudel and it costs the same. And so on, and so on. We had the schnitzel and the bratwurst, and it was the best I’ve ever had! You can tell that this family owned restaurant takes pride in their locally sourced, home made dishes. The staff was super friendly to us Americans and spoke very good English. We felt so welcomed, and left so full!

Highly recommended!!! I was here on a weekday Tuesday without a reservation! The weather was nice for sitting outside, and it was already quite busy! Please make a reservation – I was lucky and got a seat under the archway quickly and easily! I was actually here for a few glasses of apple wine, but wanted a quick bite to eat. Traditional Frankfurter Handkäs with music and green sauce, served with delicious bread! Very, very good!!! The Frankfurter sauce was phenomenal; the pot couldn't have been bigger enough! The service was also very, very good, and a compliment to the kitchen too! Despite the very busy crowd, the tables were quickly dispatched and served!

Highly recommended. So: it's an old Frankfurt apple wine restaurant – not a gourmet temple. Compared to other apple wine restaurants, this one serves really good food with very good products. The service is very attentive, friendly, relaxed, and fast. If you ignore the neighboring (unfortunately run-down) neighborhood, the atmosphere is pleasant. Tip: go!

I don't think it's a coincidence that, among Italian colleagues, without having agreed beforehand, we found ourselves having dinner in the same place! Really welcoming location, with a large outdoor space that allowed us to fully appreciate the German atmosphere. Dishes with generous portions and above-average quality. I had the typical schnitzel and it did not disappoint. The quality of the fruit was really excellent. The other dishes also looked great and no one complained. Nothing to say about the beer. Prices perhaps slightly above average, but still worth it. Friendly staff, perhaps a little disorganized, but the place was really full. If I were to return to Frankfurt, I would definitely go there again! Segr gut!
