Authentic Sachsenhausen with friendly and fast service and good food!

Unfortunately I can't understand the good reviews. I just want to give my opinion and perception. We had reserved for 15 people and received confirmation that when we arrived we were only assigned a table for 10 people. Showed the email with the confirmation, in the end people had to be seated at the next table, an absolute NO GO! Most of us didn't like the house cider at all and we're all cider lovers, that has to say something. When we asked for something a little sweeter and more tangy, we were brought a dessert wine that was totally sweet and not our taste at all. It was cheeky that the 1l bottle cost €35 and was not communicated beforehand. We wanted apple cider and not an overpriced dessert wine! Waiters were quick and polite, everything was well received, no errors in the other orders, apart from the previously mentioned cider experience. I had the veal schnitzel, the size was rather moderate, some of the fried potatoes were so burnt that they were inedible, couldn't be eaten because they were like coal. The green sauce could have used more flavor, a bit too weak, that could be much better. All in all, unfortunately disappointing, I had hoped for much more based on the reviews and stories from friends.

I've had better value for money at Frankfurter Schnitzel...

Reserved one day in advance for 6:45 p.m., reservation was confirmed. At around 5:00 p.m. (around 2 hours before) the notification came that the reservation would be postponed by 1.5 (!!) hours to 8:15 p.m. impudence.

If you are looking for a rustic, Hessian inn with a cozy atmosphere, you will find it here. I can highly recommend the beef Frankfurter meatballs with mashed potatoes. Of course there are also Äppelwoi from Bembel. You should also, or especially, reserve a table on weekdays.

The big pig's feet are delicious, the skin is super crispy and the meat is not too salty. Every meal is very smooth. The dessert apple ring was the first time I tasted it. The apples were dipped in flour and fried, topped with berry jam and fresh cream. It was very delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and harmonious, and the service staff were very kind and caring about us in a timely manner but without any pressure.

Very good food, very pleasant location. We spent €60 per person here with a starter, main course, dessert and plenty of drinks, which is appropriate given the quantity and quality of the food.

The food was delicious and there is a great selection of different ciders. However, the restaurant was very busy and the tables were very close together. In addition, there weren't enough service staff on the road, which meant that everything took a long time.

Great apple wine pub in Sachsenhausen. Beautifully decorated for Christmas in December. The Äppler is delicious and the semolina sauce is perfect! The meatballs and appetizers were also good. I particularly liked it because there weren't as many tourists there as Ur on Schweizer Straße. Of course there has to be medlar too. Typically Frankfurt. We'll be back. Greetings Martin

The two of us ate here. The staff was extremely friendly and very attentive. The quality of the food and the home-made cider also deserve the rating of very good. However, there is a star deduction for the portion size. I had a veal schnitzel for 28 EUR. I accidentally found the fried potatoes under the schnitzel. For the price it could be a little more.

Wir waren an einem Samstagabend im „Lorsbacher Thal“ und hatten zum Glück reserviert. Es war voll, der Service hatte trotzdem alles im Griff. Das Essen ist sehr gut, die Idee, Frankfurter Spezialitäten als kleine Häppchen anzubieten, gefiel uns besonders. Preislich passt es, die Leistung überzeugt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Super leckeres Essen, tolle Beratung zu den verschiedenen Äppler, schönes Ambiente. Es war alles super. Der Geräuschpegel war nicht störend, es war einfach ein gemütlicher Abend, da wird eben geredet und das geschieht an allen Tischen.

I've been there twice, but there won't be a third time. The food was very good, no question. But on the second visit we stayed a little longer, and when it got quieter, I kept seeing mice running around - at one point even three at the same time. Some kept popping up. No thanks! Something like this simply shouldn't happen in a restaurant.

Had the Frankfurt Schnitzel but the portion was far too small. There used to be 2 smaller schnitzels, but today there is only one. The quality is good as usual.

Food was excellent and our server picked great wine for us! Everything was wonderful except that it was so busy and we were waiting for 45 minutes for our check. Other tables kept paying and leaving. We gave some grace because it’s Christmas and our server had at least 10 tables, but it was definitely too long to wait at the end. Besides that one issue, everything was fantastic!

Wir waren das erste Mal am 1. Weihnachtsfeiertag zum Mittagessen da. Der Gastraum war voll. Wir hatten einen schönen Sitzplatz an Tisch 17. Der Service war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und informierte uns au h über eventuelle längere Wartezeit was bei dem Geschäft und Anlass für uns völlig ok war. Das Essen war gut und die Portionen groß wie erwartet in einem solchen Restaurant. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt absolut und wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und würden das Restaurant mit dem Konzept auch gern weiterempfehlen.

It was very friendly and the food was delicious, but it was a little bit lot.

Amazing food and even better service! Being away from family on Christmas can be difficult. But the way the restaurant is set up for dining (family style), it felt very homey and comfortable. We were sat next to a very nice couple and ended up chatting for hours after eating and enjoying each other's company!! I would come back again and again!!

Delicious food and great service

We were there to eat goose. The food was good and sufficient. However, at over €45, not the cheapest choice. Unfortunately, one star was deducted from the food because one of us ordered a vegetarian dish. Unfortunately this wasn't good. Little to no taste. However, a complaint was responded to very professionally and an alternative was offered. Unfortunately, there is also a point deduction for the ambience because the rooms were rather uninviting. The restaurant was extremely crowded and there was hardly any space on the beer benches and you were bumped into by a person every two minutes.

As an American, it is what I imagine a standard German Beer Hall would be like. Seating was at long tables with benches, with no backs. Hooks along the wall provided places to hang your coat, but made it impossible to lean back. The dining room was very crowded and it was very warm. Portions were large, attractively plated and delicious. There was limited English on the menu. I would definitely recommend reservations.

A very cozy place with authentic Frankfurt manu. It is a very historic place which for couple of years has a new management. They do a great job to keep high quality food using local products and producers. Very enjoyable experience with plenty of great local food.

The food was great. I was part of a larger group and all the dishes looked delicious. There was a lot going on that evening, so the service was a bit rushed and the atmosphere suffered from the noise. Nevertheless, I would like to take a look again.

What a great surprise. As a fan of taverns, I was in the Lorsbacher Thal in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen for the first and not the last time today. Here there are jugs of delicious Äppelwoi at narrow tables and benches, where people really huddle together and talk, discuss, laugh and even kiss. Top service from Stefan and Sergej, who supported our group of over 30 guests with joy, laughter and genuine interest. Wonderful traditional meal with a twist. Complete professionals, born for outstanding service. As soon as we greeted you, the sentence was: "You're having a wonderful evening. If there's any problem, we'll solve it for you." Thank you for the unforgettable experience.

We spontaneously got a place (recommendation but definitely reserve!!) and had a great evening. The atmosphere is so warm and cozy, the service is excellent and the food is a culinary delight!! Absolute recommendation in Frankfurt!!!

Wir waren heute im Lorsbacher Thal zum Abendessen. Das Restaurant ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und - trotz seiner Größe - sehr voll. Unbedingt vorher reservieren! Der Service war super nett und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war ein Traum. Wirklich alles hat gut geschmeckt. Kartenzahlung ist kein Problem. Einzig, dass wir einen nichtssagenden Infodruck als Rechnung erhalten haben störte - nur das Finanzamt weiß warum wir den erhalten haben 🙈😉 Muss doch wirklich nicht sein in der Preisklasse. Daher immer nach einer richtigen Rechnung oder besser Bewirtungsbeleg fragen. Fazit: Sehr lecker und toller Service - gerne wieder!

We came to experience traditional german food and local favorites. Server immediately provided suggestions of drinks and menu items to try as well as her personal favorites. Very welcoming and cozy atmosphere. The veal schnitzel and warm apple wine were our favorites

We spent a lovely evening there with friends yesterday. Friendly and attentive service with good food. Tender and juicy cooked ribs with delicious sauerkraut and great mashed potatoes. Be sure to eat a handkäs and drink the tasty apple wine. We'd love to come back!

Last Saturday we had a great time with friends in this authentic Frankfurt apple wine bar. Which has rightly been named the best 5 times in a row. The knuckle is a real crusher that one of us didn't grab. There is also a decent selection for vegans. Our host Stefan made the evening unforgettable for us with his illustrious manner. We'll be back 🫡

The best food and wine we had in Frankfurt! So much flavor in every bite and the apfelwein is amazing. The service was also great - we had a large group and hardly spoke German but it was no problem. They were very friendly and accommodating. It definitely filled up as 7pm rolled in and it seemed like a local hotspot! Very lively and fun.

As always, delicious, well served and the ambience is simply wonderful. What's nice is the fact that it's pretty quiet, even though it's in the middle of Sachsenhausen.

We were greeted warmly and escorted to our table. Our waiter was fantastic and made lots of recommendations all of which we accepted. The food was wonderful and we cleaned our plates. The service was first class even though they were very busy. We loved our time there.

Despite the full restaurant, we were rewarded with great service including perfect advice on drinks and food and a super delicious meal.

Simply a dream come true! It's all like being at home. Great food, very friendly service and with the right people around you, an evening in Lorsbacher Thal becomes a real highlight. If you're lucky, you won't be sitting next to the group that fervently intones every old German drinking song.

From the very friendly welcome to the food and service, everything was just right. I can definitely recommend the restaurant, although it is a little higher priced but definitely justified.

Great service, excellent food and incredible cider selection

The equipment has hardly changed in the last few decades, but the range of food and drinks has. The menu is confusing due to the information about matching (cider) wines, and you have problems finding a regular cider. I also missed some typical dishes and I didn't like the division between starters and main courses - without anything for the average hunger. The noise level was so high that you could only have a conversation in the narrow side wing with the person next to you and the person opposite. However, this is due to structural reasons and has probably always been this way.

An der Ausstattung hat sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten kaum etwas verändert, beim Angebot an Speisen und Getränken allerdings schon. Die Speisekarte ist unübersichtlich aufgrund der Informationen zu passenden (Apfel-)Weinen, und man hat Probleme einen gewöhnlichen Apfelwein zu finden. Ich habe auch einige typische Speisen vermisst und die Aufteilung zwischen Vorspeisen und Hauptspeisen - ohne irgend etwas für den mittleren Hunger - hat mir nicht gefallen. Der Lärmpegel war so hoch, dass man sich im schmalen Seitentrakt nur mit seinem Nebenmann und dem Gegenüber unterhalten kann. Das ist allerdings baulich bedingt und war vermutlich schon immer so.

We have been there about twice a year for years, e.g. B. last WE: We hadn't made a reservation - and despite the high occupancy, we were assigned a nice outdoor space. The menu offers food of the highest standard - and we were extremely pleased with the quality and taste. The Äppler is tasty and rather mild. The service was attentive, friendly and accommodating from start to finish. The shop is booming and we are happy to get a spot in the garden. Right in the heart of Alt-Sachsenhausen you can enjoy traditional Frankfurt cuisine of very good quality in a beautifully decorated ambience. The extensive cider selection can make you dizzy. When I asked about a cider rosé, the waiter recommended a special cider made from red-fleshed apples, the "Red Adam". Served in rib-stemmed glasses and with a seductive red color, this exotic wine is a visual pleasure alone, its taste surprises with its delicate fruity aroma. From the menu we choose appetizers, including green sauce with quail egg, bratwurst with mashed potatoes and onion jam, and a hand cheese salad is a must. The green sauce is perfectly chopped, the sausage could use a little more browning, but everything tastes very tasty. We will definitely come back.
