D-Schanke in Düsseldorf

March 2026... ProWein is in town. The D-Schänke was packed last Sunday evening, yet the food arrived quickly and was of the usual high quality, and our glasses were never empty. All in all, excellent and friendly service. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

Fantastic restaurant with excellent service and food! We had a group event with a private menu, offering something for everyone! From the reservation process to our stay, we were well looked after, with clear communication throughout. The food was superb. A wonderful and successful evening!

Traditional German food, pork knuckle, not quite perfect as the crackling wasn't crispy. Otherwise everything was very well prepared.

Unfortunately, it was very loud...conversation was very difficult. We went there for goose dinner. For the price, the goose menu wasn't good. The leg was tough, the dumpling was tasteless, the red cabbage was okay, and the gravy was good. The service was overwhelmed. We ordered drinks twice after the meal, but they never arrived at our table. A real shame...but I won't be coming back for goose dinner.

Most of the food was ordered before 6:00 PM, but due to poor planning, the order came to a halt at 7:00 PM. The table was booked for 5:00 PM with the understanding that 15 people wanted to eat. It was also stated that the food could be served even though not everyone was present. An alternative table could not be provided. There was no willingness to compromise. The last remaining drinks had to be consumed outside. The food was also relatively expensive. The meal took a mere 20 minutes! Furthermore, the (presumably the owner) was very unfriendly to his staff and snapped at them excessively while serving drinks.

A very good restaurant. Reliably a pleasant experience – suitable for private outings with children, for example, while bowling, but also for business trips. The friendly, family-run service and the presentation (and taste) of the dishes are particularly noteworthy. Highly recommended. Many thanks to the team!

The menu is varied and creative, with something for everyone. The ambiance is lovely, and the service is attentive and polite. Unfortunately, one of the ordered side dishes was forgotten. My goose had perfect texture and was beautifully crispy, but the flavor was a bit bland, as was the red cabbage. Overall, it was okay, but not entirely convincing.

The friendliness is particularly worth mentioning. The chef and wait staff take great care to ensure their guests feel comfortable. The service, food, and drinks are top-notch. If something goes wrong, it's handled with absolute accommodatingness and friendliness. We had ox cheeks and 'Kableau' (a kind of 'cabbage'). Both were delicious. Thank you. We'll be back.

We received excellent service, the food was truly delicious, and the atmosphere outside in the beer garden was fantastic. In case it rains, most of the seating is covered, so you can sit in the dry. I had the Alsatian-style tarte flambée, which was truly delicious. I would definitely order it again!

I've been to the D-Schänke many times and have always been extremely satisfied with the food. Last week, I was very disappointed and also annoyed for the first time. The service took a long time, and we had to wait over an hour for the food. My friend had only ordered some bread with cheese, which was dry and the cheese unidentifiable. I had ordered burrata with green asparagus, which was hard—not just "with a bite," but simply so hard that it didn't taste good at all. When asked if everything was okay, I said so, but the waiter simply acknowledged it. The price for the dish was a hefty €23.90. What a shame!

I've been to the D-Schänke several times, and every time I get stuck for the vegetarian tarte flambée, which is simply delicious. What always impresses me is the consistent quality. This tarte flambée is the best I've ever eaten.

Quite nice, but I imagined the food to be better. The asparagus was hard, lukewarm and low in salt. Maybe I was unlucky because the store was very busy and everyone seemed very happy.

D'Schänke is a pleasant restaurant with delicious food. They say they cook without "frills" but with good ingredients. It's true! We had a good meal there, received a friendly welcome and service, and were satisfied. The portions are generous, and the wine recommendation won me over. I only give it 4 stars for the ambiance, as the lighting is a bit dim, and when the room is full, it's a bit noisy. But that's just plain old complaining. We'd happily return to this restaurant and enjoy the delicious meals.

Delicious food, very friendly service.

I've been there three times in the last few weeks and I can only praise it! Kitchen and service top, saddle of venison steak, sea bass, tarte flambée, burata with stewed tomatoes, everything was great! You can't beat foxes on tap anyway, but the (large) wine list is awesome! So not just taverns, also drinking troughs! Let's go!

We had made a reservation and were looking forward to eating out with the family. The reception wasn't particularly inviting, well... The food came quickly and was very tasty, especially the burgers. As soon as the dessert was cleared away, after less than 1.5 hours we were rudely informed by the gentlemen in service that we needed the table right now (half the restaurant was empty in the afternoon). Conclusion: Unfortunately we probably won't be back. For us, nice service is also part of a good time!

We went there today to eat goose and it was simply fantastically delicious. We had children with us and they were also super happy with the children's plates. Not exactly cheap, but really good quality. The service was also very nice and accommodating. THANK YOU dear team! We felt very comfortable all around in a lovely atmosphere. We held our Christmas party in the D-Schänke. The reserved table was available on time and the staff was very friendly. In keeping with Advent, we chose dishes from the weekly menu, everything was great! We were very satisfied and would like to come back.

Food/kitchen good, we had goose (breast or leg), very good wine list. Service unfortunately a bit confusing... you have to take it easy 😉

All in all okay, we were there with a larger group and sat inside. The service seemed rather tense, the selection of drinks and food was good. The schnitzel could have been pounded thinner. Fried potatoes were good.

I had a wonderful evening at the D-Schänke in Düsseldorf Niederkassel! I was particularly impressed with the goose leg – perfectly prepared, tender and juicy, with a crispy skin that simply tasted excellent. The side dishes were equally excellent and rounded off the dish perfectly. The cozy atmosphere and the friendly, attentive service further sweetened the evening. Absolutely recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy great food and a nice ambience in Düsseldorf!

Unfortunately, I don't fully understand all the good reviews. The medium burger was absolutely raw and the minced meat tasted strangely old. In addition, the service was terrible. You couldn't even order something new to drink, even though we waited for a long time because no one came.

What a nice restaurant, very nice staff, extremely tasty food, rarely had such good fries. We met with colleagues there and will definitely be back.

It's always an experience to be a guest with Thomas and his team. Unfortunately, I come by far too rarely for my comfort level. Every time, also thanks to the weekly menu, I am spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing food. Speaking of being spoiled for choice - do yourself a favor and ask for the wine list. I need one or two fresh old ones before I find what I'm looking for. Great menu, the Riesling selection is remarkable for Düsseldorf, on the left bank of the Rhine. Due to many positive reviews, I visited the D-Schänke in Niederkassel today with someone. Unfortunately, the lavish (self-)praise revealed on the Internet could not stand up to reality. The atmosphere is really appealing and you immediately felt at home. The service was also really pleasant. The culinary part, however, and thus the actual reason for our visit, performed significantly worse. Unfortunately, ignoring the not really consistent price/performance aspect, the quality and taste of the dishes (flambée with green asparagus and chicken gyros) were not convincing at all. The asparagus was woody and dry, the ham tasted bland and the chicken gyros had the appearance of Chicken McNuggets and was sometimes too dry. Due to this less than pleasant experience, no further visit is planned. It's a shame, because of the "hymns of praise" we were actually expecting a culinary WOW experience and were disappointed.

I recently dined at this restaurant, and my experience was far from pleasant. Despite making a reservation in advance, the staff didn’t seem to care when we mentioned it. The server was extremely rude. When we requested a bottle of dry wine, he brought us a sweet one instead. Upon asking for a replacement, his response was highly impolite. To make matters worse, we later discovered that he had added two bottles to our bill without our knowledge. This level of unfriendliness and negligence is unacceptable

Once and never never never again! Staff mostly rude and completely disorganized, atmosphere "Well...if you like sitting back to back". The food is not good at all for these prices! Mayonnaise was filled into small jars and already had a dark yellow “skin” on top! My burger was super small and the fries were extremely few! The burger was also lukewarm, so the cheddar cheese didn't even melt, but lay stiff on top. My girlfriend had a bowl... well... there was almost nothing real in it. More sauce than anything else. For the cake with the liquid core.... The liquid core could not be found. If you then say something, all you get is: "I'll forward it to the kitchen!" No offer to get something new or anything. Parking and even getting there was also a disaster, but it could also be because of the fair. I can not judge over this. I would like to give 0 stars, but 1 star is for the nice waitress who didn't charge for the extra fries (which I didn't actually order).

This restaurant has its home where Niederkassel is most original. Modern, tasteful ambience, history always shines through. Very appealing selection of food, in addition to traditional dishes there is also a bowl and burgers. The duck breast was excellent, nicely seasoned sauce, rich salad. The hit: the wine list with 900 items, the whoiswho of German winemakers, many large wines. I have never seen a card like this in the finest houses. Attentive service. If we didn't live in East Frisia, we would be there at least once every week.

The service still needs to improve a bit. The food was very good overall. Significantly better than many other restaurants and the prices are reasonable. Gladly again.

I come all the way from Los Angeles. My friend recommended this place to me. We had the best asparagus soup and schnitzels. The Deutsche Bier Fuchsen was great and delicious! Yummy for my tummy! The best was the waitress Laura! She was a feast for the eyes and really hospitable. We felt at home and we'll come again

Beer garden. Relaxed atmosphere. Delicious food with something for everyone. In the D-Schänke, delicious food and a unique atmosphere come together in the beer garden. We've often gone there "just to eat" and then stayed for 4 hours because it was just so beautiful. Brewery cuisine is offered “but in a tasty way”. The dishes are composed in a modern way, but do not hide their origins. Everyone is taken into consideration, the menu is very well put together. During peak times, service is required to the point of being overwhelmed. That's a bit of a shame. Definitely come here on a summer day.

We spontaneously went to dinner with 13 people today. A place was found for us, which is not a given on a Friday evening, thank you very much. Drinks came very quickly. The group ordered different meals, and here too the kitchen and service were quick. Overall a very friendly and quick service. Clear recommendation.

A traditional inn with a beautiful beer garden in the middle of Niederkassel. The atmosphere is a good mix of tradition and modernity. The employees are very attentive, friendly and courteous. Nowadays it is no longer so common in pubs or restaurants that you are asked several times at short intervals whether everything is OK or whether you need anything. Really good service. The food was delicious and the selection of food and drinks is very good. The prices are reasonable. Access is barrier-free and there are plenty of parking spaces in the area. Everything was very good from the telephone reservation to dinner. We recommend.

Unfortunately, the food has diminished. Burger - bread dry, meat with a strange consistency. Currywurst sauce not tasty, fries taste old and are not hot. Schnitzel - meat a bit dry. Fried potatoes very good. Altbier very tasty. Service very friendly.

Actually great, but the good tasting goat cheese salad for a good €18 was unfortunately only the "size" of a generous side salad :(

The tavern was very busy and luckily I got a seat at the counter. Luckily, because I was able to enjoy the best mustard roast to date. Great ambience, nice staff and really delicious food! I'd love to come by again when I'm in Düsseldorf.

Typical upscale brewery cuisine with attentive service in a classic ambience. Although I miss the “coziness” of a tavern.

The interior is very cosy, with some old details of the interior and protruding beams it makes a good feel. The menu is elaborate and we got lucky to have special seasonal goose menu available. However goose burger was a bit on the dry side, so it's perhaps 4.5, not 5*. Our drinks order also took some time, thought place was nearly empty, so it's a final 4, but I hopefully be back to see if it improves.

Gans war super lecker, saftig, sous vide. Atmosphere sehr freundlich, Musik sehr diskret (optimal). Wein Auswahl gut. Desserts original und lecker.

Der erste Besuch war schön. Beim zweiten Besuch war trotz frühzeitiger Tischreservierung kein Tisch frei. Der angebotene Ersatztisch im Abstellraum war wenig einladend. Hungrig verließen wir die Lokalität. Eine Entschuldigung für die versäumte Reservierung blieb aus. Grundsätzlich schien das Personal überfordert. Nicht nur wir schauten in die Röhre, auch ein weiteres Paar wartete vergeblich auf ihren reservierten Tisch.

Wie es der Name vermuten lässt, ist das Ambiente gut bürgerlich schön. Entsprechend auch das Angebot an Speisen, auch mit regionalem Charakter finde ich auch super. Werde ich gerne wieder hingehen.

Ein sehr schönes Lokal. Gut besucht und dem entsprechend auch sehr laut. Der Server war anfangs im wenigen Betriebe sehr gut, leider wurde er schlechter um so voller es wurde. Das Essen insgesamt war anscheinend Recht gut. Mein Hähnchen Gyros war leider ein wenig trocken und der Zaziki nicht mein Fall, dafür aber hausgemacht.

Wir waren zum Gänseessen dort und es hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Eine bessere Gans habe ich bisher nirgends in Düsseldorf gefunden. Klare Empfehlung!

Wir gehen immer wieder sehr gerne in die Dorfschänke. Tolles Ambiente, eine richtig gute Küche und ein sehr freundliches und aufmerksames Service Team. Man kann die Dorfschänke für jeden Anlass absolut empfehlen.

In den 70igern meine Kommunion dort schon gefeiert hat sich diese Location von innen doch sehr modernisiert 😉…Gerade diese puristische Gemütlichkeit mit Balken und cooler Beleuchtung mit romantischen Kerzenschein sorgt für ein behagliches Gefühl. Füchschen Bier, Pils vom Fass und gute Weine sprechen den Ur-Düsseldorfer definitiv sehr an (!). Bedienung schnell, freundlich und kompetent! Diesmal hatten wir Gans, sie war lecker und von der Portion genau richtig. Man hätte alles noch nach haben können. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!
