Côdô in Dresden

The ambiance is quite good, and so is the service. We were totally disappointed with the food. Our wok specialty was served cold. Lots of noodles, very few vegetables. The duck meat came in thin strips. The texture was just a bit softer than jerked beef, and cold. The taste was okay. But not my thing. The hoisin sauce was definitely from a bottle. Not a pleasant evening.

Excellent food with very good value and excellent service. We had the Saigon summer rolls with chicken breast strips as an appetizer, followed by Com Rang Vit (stir-fried rice tossed in a wok with carrots, leeks, bean sprouts, and crispy duck with hoisin dip) and Vit Ca Ri (crispy duck in red lemongrass curry with vegetables, basil, coconut milk, and rice) as main courses. It was highly recommended in every respect.

I was there for the first time yesterday. Everything was great! 4 different dishes – all delicious and plentiful! Excellent and attentive service!

We have ordered or eaten there several times. Today, unfortunately, it wasn't good. We ordered Bun Bo Nam Bo and other dishes to pick up. The dishes were well packaged and, except for one dish, delicious. The Bun BO, however, was inedible. Last time, the Bun BO was super delicious. Today it didn't taste good at all. The noodles were completely overcooked, the vegetables were cut into very large pieces and also overcooked. Overall, it wasn't tasty; even the meat tasted sour. When I complained about it by phone, they simply offered to make the dish again and I could pick it up. Understandably, my wife didn't have any appetite for it anymore. There was no other alternative. That's a shame and not customer-oriented. We won't be eating or ordering there again for the time being.

Very tasty and generous portions... Close to the Zwinger... You even have a view of it... Highly recommended for all tourists and those who like delicious food.

A very nice restaurant with great, friendly service. The food comes quickly, is delicious, and the portions are generous. We've been there twice and were impressed both times. If you don't like it too spicy, you can also make the food milder. Highly recommend the homemade lemonade and the mango lassi.

Had the No. 80 (sesame salmon) Not much salmon, way too much soy, and a handful of dry rice with half a tomato. I'm still looking for the rest of the vegetables. Also, the quality of the ingredients is rather mediocre. Service was nice, and I didn't have to wait long, which doesn't really surprise me.

We went to dinner without a reservation on a Tuesday and had no problem. Good service and delicious food. The problem came when it was time to pay. I asked to pay with cash, but they didn't understand me, so I paid by card. And here comes the surprise when they force me to tip, choosing between 7%, 14%, or 21% of the amount, which was €41. I asked what that meant, and in German, they gave me a reply I didn't understand and pointed to 7%. I guess my expression said, "You're ripping me off." Tipping isn't mandatory, and I leave it if I want to, not because I'm forced to. Be careful with this trick.

The food was delicious and even plentiful. The service was very friendly and prompt. What was disturbing in the restaurant was the smell of cooking and the very loud, seemingly argumentative conversation in Vietnamese coming from the kitchen. It wasn't pleasant.

I've always enjoyed eating and ordering from this restaurant. But what's this? Nothing's holding together. No offense, but which intern made this roll? I would never give it to the delivery person like that. The only positive aspect is: lots of salmon. But all the rolls fall apart and are all different heights. Not pleasing to the eye. At least it tastes good. Next time, please order whole rolls.

Large portions, beautifully presented. Spicier food is also available upon request. The only downside was the service, at least today, was really slow, which was really annoying, even with the restaurant half full.

I struggle to understand the rave reviews. Service is non-existent, servers are rude and arrogant, we waited a long time before having our orders taken. The food is disappointing, it’s a shame to call it Vietnamese food. Spring roll is huge but is filled with noodles and has no taste other than the sweet hoisin dipping sauce. The sauce for Bun tasted like water, the only thing that saved it was the sriracha provided on the table. Never again.

This is the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at. The beef in the pho was dry and tough, and the sushi rolls fell apart when they arrived. The ingredients were all of very poor quality. I have to give the restaurant a bad rating.

Pretty decent lunch in the downtown area of Dresden, just wish they would punch up the food a bit more with flavor and spice, because compared to other Vietnamese spots in the country, this was filling but not the most flavorful. Paid 20 euros for a bun with nems and a tasty Vietnamese coffee, but found it to be a bit overpriced as well. Atmosphere is nice, with Vietnamese decor throughout the interior.

Quite authentic, very tasty food. The banh mi and mammoth salad were both great. And it's not as heavy on the stomach as, say, a burger.

Unfortunately, it took a very long time for our food to arrive, even though there weren't many guests yet. Our appetizer was completely forgotten. The beef was okay, but the salmon was unfortunately very dry and the onions were raw. The food was okay, but I've had better at other places.

I was looking for a gluten-free restaurant for our sightseeing tour in Dresden. Codo appealed to me. But when we got there, we were more than thrilled – not only were we allowed into the restaurant with our dogs, but we were also invited to the quiet area and offered water. The most important thing, of course, is the food – it was extremely delicious; I've rarely eaten a better curry. My companion was also very satisfied. The location, right next to the Zwinger, is also great. I found the prices to be more than fair, downright affordable. All in all, I would definitely recommend it.

Came here for dinner during a weekday and this place was quite crowded, though we managed to get a table outside fairly quickly. I had Pho ga, the soup tasted good but the chicken was a bit dry. It would have been nicer with more veggies than this many slices of chicken. We wanted to have something quick and light so it was all good for our purpose.

In between 3 and 4 stars. Ok food, service 3 stars. One of my family think their burger is tasty.

Absolutely amazing restaurant, the restaurant had an amazing variety of tasty food for people to enjoy. The staff was incredibly kind and friendly and even gave us a free dessert when we came back! A must dine restaurant for anyone.

We were there on a weekday around 6 p.m. and had reserved a table in advance. The ambiance is nice, and the service is what you'd expect from a typical tourist restaurant. We only got as far as the appetizer because it was so filling and delicious that we couldn't fit anything else in our stomachs after that. We had the baked Codô mixed platter - truly delicious. We highly recommend Codo.

I've ordered there several times, and today I ate there for the first time. As always, sushi and sashimi were super fresh and really tasty. The taste of the bun cha was okay, but the meat could have been a little warmer. Definitely recommended for sushi lovers. The service was also very friendly and accommodating.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our visit. We have been to codo several times in recent years, but mostly in the Neustadt. We always like the food very much, but our last visit to the branch in the old town was not at all satisfactory. We had made a reservation, but the first employee simply left us there with the words "please wait". The service is sometimes very unfriendly, they are constantly checking to see if you have finally finished eating. The atmosphere is very loud and rather bistro-like. Our main courses came 2 minutes after the starters, which is why we had them returned. When the main course was brought to us again, the food was cold on the surface and a skin had formed on the sauces. At least we got new dishes after a short discussion. I paid an additional €2.60 to change the sauce for my main course, which was a disgrace. We won't be visiting codo again because there are so many great, very friendly Asian restaurants, especially in the Neustadt. It should also be mentioned that the prices have increased significantly compared to the last visit and are also higher than in the other branches in Neustadt. The proximity to the center and the flow of tourists are obviously being exploited here.

Everything is just right here. The food not only tastes great, it is also very attractively presented. The furnishings are very tasteful. The sanitary facilities are clean. There are so many employees that waiting times are very short. Everyone is very accommodating. The prices are really cheap. As expected, the sushi was very fresh. I couldn't find any negative criticism. Highly recommended.

I reserved a table at the restaurant because I remembered it as a cozy and tasty place. Unfortunately I was absolutely disappointed. First we learned that a reservation is normally valid for 2 hours, but mine was reduced to 1.5 hours (for no reason) because the house was fully booked. When we asked whether it would be longer or whether there was another place, we were greeted with a rude breakfast (by the way, there was no information about the time limit during the reservation process). Our starter was on the table within two minutes and another minute later the main course was slammed onto the table, we hadn't even started the starter and our table, being extremely small, was full. The waitress wasn't interested. The food was ok, but nothing special. I was a fan of the Codo - but that day it seemed to me as if it was just quick mass processing without authenticity and friendliness. Everything is also extremely tight, packed and every centimeter is used - it fits in my opinion. also good for the mass concept, just like the enormous pace. The toilet was unclean. So: ABSOLUTE DISAPPOINTMENT, but luckily there are enough Vietnamese restaurants in the city that we can now try out, I definitely won't go to Codo anymore.

We recently ordered food to take home with us. The waiting time was good considering it was very busy and the employees were also very friendly and nice. Unfortunately, we didn't check the order on site because we had trust, and when we got home we noticed that a main course was missing. Maybe it was because there was so much going on and it wasn't supposed to happen.

Service was very good and quick at the beginning, but as the evening went on it diminished, so we ended up having to wait quite a long time for our food. The coconut soup was very tasty, the sushi rolls were also very tasty and something different but: the mango chicken salad was really not good, the mango was unripe, the chicken was far dry, the glass noodles were lumpy and the sauce was at the bottom of the bowl - even after they offered to prepare the salad again, the ingredients didn't change. We didn't have to pay it. Unfortunately, the pho soup was a pretty tasteless noodle and onion soup with coriander added in homeopathic doses and not a bean sprout, but far too much spring onion and red onion. The seared pieces of beef were streaky and crunched when eaten. We were offered two drinks of our choice on the house as compensation, but unfortunately we ran out of time (we had already waited an hour for the soup). It's a shame, we had hoped for more. But they were very nice. We were told the kitchen staff were new. It's very loud in there.

Had dinner with some friends. I ordered number 77 - crispy chicken with noodles and sweet chili sauce (without vegetables). My friends had, among other things, the crispy duck with rice and sweet and sour sauce. We also ordered a Fritz-Kola. All in all, it was very tasty, the waiters were really nice and looked after us in a very friendly manner. The price-performance ratio was perfect, we were more than full! Highly recommended!!!

Ordered food via Lieferando, the meat was unfortunately as tough as chewing gum, certainly not cut well and instead of two fries only one was delivered. Otherwise the taste was okay. Better not order again.

Wir waren jetzt schon ein paar mal im Codo in der Brüdergasse zum Speisen. Beim ersten Mal (wir saßen draußen) waren wir sehr zufrieden. Das nächste Mal hatten wir einen Tisch im Innenraum und schon alleine das lange Warten, bis man den reservierten Tisch bekommt, ist nervig. Man wartet mit anderen Menschen, auch mit solchen, die nur Take away holen, direkt nach dem Eingang eng stehend und immer im Weg. Geht wahrscheinlich nicht anders, ist aber sehr unangenehm. Leider ist es auch ultra warm im Restaurant. Wenn man dann seinen Tisch hat, dauert es immer etwas, bis man bedient wird. Dann geht alles Schlag auf Schlag und man merkt, dass man das vorgegebene Zeitfenster von 1,5 Stunden nicht überschreiten sollte. So kommen auch die Speisen. Eigentlich zu schnell. Dabei meine ich die Zeit zwischen Vor- und Hauptspeise. Das Essen ist prinzipiell gut, aber ich weiß nicht, was die Sushiköche reitet, jegliches Sushi mit Majosoßen und sonst was für welchen Soßen im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes zu überschwemmen 🤷🏻‍♀️. Für meinen Geschmack zuviel. Aber es muss ja einen Grund geben, warum das so dort gehandhabt wird. Hat halt mit Sushi nicht mehr viel zu tun. Die anderen Speisen sind schon gut, man darf halt kein Sushi essen, wenn man es auf diese Art und Weise nicht mag. Aber das Ambiente muss halt auch stimmen. Wenn man zu dritt Sushi bestellt, und dabei jeder was anderes wählt, kommt alles auf einer Platte. Zeit zum Erklären, was was ist, bleibt keine. Und da alles mit den Soßen übertüncht wird, weiß man im Einzelnen nicht, welches das von sich selbst bestellte Sushi ist. Und die Soße läuft auch noch vom Brett auf den Tisch - einfach unappetitlich. Die Ente von meinem Mann war aber gut 👍🏻 .

Very good and tasty Asian restaurant. In my opinion, better than the original (at least it was first in Dresden) in the Neustadt. Delicious food, friendly and quick staff.

The Codo used to be really good, but has now deteriorated considerably. The service is underground. We ordered a starter and main course. Less than 5 minutes after the starter was served, the main course was crashed onto the table, which was much too small for it. You get the feeling of mass processing. In addition, despite the empty glasses, no one even asked if we would like another drink. The food itself tasted okay, nothing special. The toilets and the coffee machine at the bar were dirty. We won't be coming back again.

The food was very tasty, appropriately seasoned and arrived quickly after ordering. The portions are large. The staff was very eager and friendly, and the price-performance ratio was appropriate for us considering the large portions.

A waitress never showed up to provide any service. When we finally paid she refused to give us change and said she thought it was a tip.

Unfortunately, the Codo has deteriorated significantly when it comes to the quality of the food. I've now tested several dishes on several visits, and it's consistent: udon noodles with vegetables taste completely burnt (you can even see black traces on the vegetables), curry is tasteless, banh mi lacks the delicious sauces and crispy salad that used to be on it, instead there are now two slices of cucumber and boiled (!) carrot. The delicious sweet potato fries have been taken off the menu, and the normal fries taste worse than average oven fries. The Codo used to be a very nice bistro in the new town with solid food - the expansion has done a lot of damage to it, and food of this poor quality (burned!) should not be offered - and especially not at this price.

Bis jetzt war ich nur im "codo" auf der Königsbrücker Straße in Dresden. Leider dachte ich, codo sei gleich codo. Ich war heute sehr enttäuscht, vom Abendessen im "codo" am Postplatz. Trockener Lachs, trockener Reis, schnell angerichtet. Ein Altölgeschmack stieß noch Stunden später auf. Sehr schade.

Worth a recommendation without question. The one star deduction for the fact that we were asked to pay after dinner and after 2 hours because our table was only reserved until 8 p.m. What we didn't know was that it wasn't that nice, especially since it was a family celebration.

A must visit, large selection from beef and duck to sushi and sashimi to vegetarian and vegan. All the dishes I tried were very tasty.
