Codo in Dresden

Coming to Dresden to introduce to foreign friends a Vietnamese restaurant, not too far from Hbf, there are many branches. If you visit Pfunds Molkerei, it takes about 10 minutes to walk from there. Convenient location. The price is quite good compared to the food, especially the duck noodle dish, there is a lot of duck and the duck is very delicious, well processed, crispy and doesn't smell like duck. Northern beef pho is 8/10, but compared to the other dishes, it will pale in comparison if you are trying Vietnamese food for the first time. Especially the Crispy Chicken served with rice is extremely delicious, the mango sauce is very fragrant and creamy, not spicy at all for Europeans. But the chicken noodle dish is normal. Highly recommend the crispy chicken rice with sauce, duck noodles, and pho, which I think are also delicious but not as good as the other dishes. Foreigners who eat Vietnamese food here really enjoy it, they eat it all, the iced milk coffee is also delicious, very good like Saigon flat coffee (4.7e)

Visited on a Monday when almost all restaurants in the area were closed. We ordered ramen on the advice of the waiter. Portions are large with lots of meat. Very tasty.

A cozy Vietnamese restaurant with delicious food. Highly recommended are the soups with chicken or beef, the spring rolls with shrimp or the mango chicken salad.

Convinced me about Vietnamese food with ease! The menu offers something for many tastes. The cocktails in particular are interestingly put together.

Repeatedly did not ignore the delivery comments. And the lemurs arrived disintegrated.

Very good prices and the food is so delicious. The 4 of us shared a vegetarian hot pot and ordered side dishes and the sushi bento 1. It was the tastiest thing I've eaten in a long time. Hot pot is totally fun and a great experience.

Despite delicious food, terrible service, rude, stressed and insulting response to a request to turn a chair 90 degrees and move it to the other side of the table because the guest didn't want to sit in the passageway. Due to unprofessional and insulting treatment (or the waiter literally started shouting and didn't let us finish at all) we all lost our appetite and left straight away. That's why never again Codo. There are many other delicious and very professional alternative restaurants in the New Town in the immediate vicinity such as Pho Viet, Mikado or Hanoi - I would definitely recommend it as it will save you some nerves.

Trotz leckerem Essen ist mir schon immer wieder aufgefallen, dass der Service etwas ignorant rüber kommt. Aber als wir gestern da waren hat der Kellner auf unsere Anfrage den Stuhl um 90 Grad an die andere Seite des Tisches zu stellen (dabei war es keinem im Weg und hätte niemanden gestört) richtig beleidigend reagiert, er hat angefangen zu schreien und uns anzupampen. Wir sind aufgestanden zum Gehen und wollten dem Kellner noch mal darauf aufmerksam machen, dass dies kein Umgang ist und dass er es generell so mit Kunden nicht machen darf, daraufhin hat er uns mitten im Wort unterbrochen und direkt angefangen uns wieder anzuschreien, sodass von allen Tischen die Gäste sich umgedreht haben. Ich würde Codo auf keinen Fall empfehlen. In direkter Nachbarschaft davon (2-3 min Fußweg) gibt es richtig gute Alternativen, die zum sogar etwas mehr leckerem Essen noch einen richtig professionellen Service bieten, wie Pho Viet, Hà Nội oder Mikado - und eigentlich gibt es sogar viel mehr - einfach mal googeln

You will definitely get delicious food on your plate. What bothered me, however, was the noise in the restaurant, which is due to the furnishings, because the room is not that big and people sit close together. Still very friendly staff.

I wasn't full and half the dish was sauce. The food was delicious, the rooms were nice and the service was super nice. But I had to buy crackers at the supermarket afterwards to be full in the evening.

I love this Vietnamese restaurant, we were brought here by our Vietnamese friend and were immediately impressed. It tastes like Hoa and Sony at home. The service is perfect, everyone has their job here and they do it very well. The restaurant is always busy and it is advisable to reserve in advance. The staff is just nice, Asian culture and Sharm. So if you like delicious Asian food, we highly recommend this restaurant.

Authentic food and friendly service. I'm not necessarily happy with the cleanliness of the tables. The menu is very extensive, so there is something for everyone. It is located right next to the tram and is therefore easy to reach by public transport.

We have reserved a table for 6 people. The reservation was successful and we were seated at the specified time. Soups, sushi and daily specials were ordered. Unfortunately, 1 drink and 1 daily special were forgotten when ordering. So 2 people had to wait a little longer. The sushi itself wasn't bad, but it could have had a little more filling, e.g. There can be salmon in it. You almost only had rice in your mouth. The soups, on the other hand, were strong and tasted very good. Despite its late arrival, the daily curry dish was also very tasty. All dishes were prepared very professionally. The homemade lemonades and cocktails were also very fresh and everyone enjoyed them. Overall the evening was very pleasant. Even if the service wasn't perfect, we will come back again.

Ich war mit meinen Freunden hier und das Personal ist sehr freundlich und höflich gegenüber größeren Gruppen. Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Portionen waren perfekt. Die Einrichtung dieses Restaurants ist sehr schön und sehr gemütlich.

The ambience and service are good, but unfortunately the food is more mass than quality. My takeaway order was once again so overcooked that it kept falling off the cutlery. Very difficult to eat, a straw would have helped better here. I don't understand why you have to drown overcooked pasta and vegetables in the sauce. After all, it wasn't soup according to the menu, so I even checked again. Seemed like it had been pre-cooked and quickly heated up too hot.

They are very bad staff who have no respect on how to talk to the Uber driver. I don't recommend people to go to this restaurant

I came here spontaneously in the evening and was very surprised by the selection! I grew up with Vietnamese food and was craving a delicious noodle soup during my stay in Dresden! Besides Pho, they also had other authentic noodle soups that I tried. The bun thit nuong was also very tasty. Next time I'll try the hot pot!

I had ordered Sommer rollen and ramen. Sommer rollen was very good, tasted fresh. Ramen was okay. Nothing extraordinary. I had been to a different location of Codo earlier and liked that better. Overall it was decent.

I was at Codo on Albertplatz this lunchtime and unfortunately I have to say that I was personally disappointed. The restaurant was still quite empty (besides me there were 3-4 other tables occupied by individuals and couples). After I sat down, no one came to take my order for more than 15 minutes. When I went to the counter and wanted to order politely, it took another 5 minutes before I was finally able to do so. It's a shame because one of the employees was unfortunately on his cell phone several times. In general, I expect good service staff to come to the table not just when asked and not just to bring the food. At first glance, the menu is visually very well structured and aesthetic. However, this (just like the table, by the way) is extremely sticky (and no, unfortunately it's not due to sticky cleaning products). Unfortunately very very unpleasant. The food was good, appetizingly prepared and came quickly, but in no way outweighs the service and cleanliness.

The restaurant was very full, but service from our waiter was quick and friendly. The pasta with duck was very tasty. I can highly recommend it and would love to come back with my family

We had lunch at Albertplatz. It's very nice to sit outside. Places are well protected from sun and rain. Large selection of food and drinks. Actually way too much. Food tasty and inexpensive. Points will be deducted in the ambience. The reason is the condition of the toilets. You shouldn't be overweight. The cleanliness is also not optimal.

I've always enjoyed going to Codo, but recently the two of us were there for lunch. There was a hustle and bustle atmosphere and it was very loud. My food came and 20 minutes later the food of my companion, which I found to be a no-go.

The Codo is a really confident and delicious restaurant in Dresden and really good at all locations. You know what to expect and you won't be negatively surprised. The lunch specials are recommended, as the price-performance ratio is very good. You have to want the ambience at Albertplatz, as it is always a bit louder there. But that's the only drawback to the otherwise great and high quality Codo. On a scale of 10 it would be a 7.5/10 ⭐️

This restaurant does offer the authentic Vietnamese cuisine. As a Vietnamese,I am quite happy with the taste of food here. The portion is very big and price is cheap. Will come back for sure

I was in the restaurant with my work colleagues and we were pleasantly surprised. The dishes were large, as you can see in the picture, and they were filling too. It was also very well attended, you can make a reservation, which is what we did. There were 7 of us and we had a table for everyone. The staff were also very friendly. I highly recommend it.

We visited the restaurant with a larger group. Drinks and food were good, but the service really needs to be improved. The wait staff were friendly, but it took forever before we could order. The first round of ordering was just drinks, after that no one came, so I spoke directly to the waiter and told us we wanted to order. However, the food came very quickly. My food was tasty, overall the quality was okay. The portions were very good for the price.

Ich liebe die Küche des Restaurants Codo wirklich. Ich denke, das ist einer der weniges Restaurant in Dresden, wo man leckeres Sushi essen kann. Ich wohne im Zentrum, deswegen habe ich immer Codo in der Altstadt (Kleine Brüdergasse 5) besucht. Die Küche war immer auf höchstem Niveau, schnell, aber die Arbeit des Personals war 50/50. Einige waren freundlich, andere weniger, um es milde auszudrücken. Es kam jedoch nie zu unangenehmen Situationen. Heute habe ich Codo am Albertplatz besucht. Und ich kann einfach nicht anders, als über die Situation zu schreiben, die passiert ist. Ich werde nichts darüber sagen, dass das Sushi einfach in Stäbchen zerfallen ist, der Kellner nicht einmal nach dem Getränk gefragt hat und dann auch keine Teller mitgebracht hat (und das Sushi auf einer gemeinsamen Platte serviert wurde). Es sind die kleinen Dinge. Gleichzeitig war ich freundlich und bedankte mich bei den Kellnern für jede Annäherung. Doch am Ende, als ich die Rechnung bezahlen wollte, kam es zu einer Situation, die mir nicht die Möglichkeit gab zu schweigen und Codo eine gute Bewertung zu geben (zu meinem Bedauern). Ich stellte dem Kellner zweimal die Frage: „Kann ich eine Amex-Karte verwenden?“, worauf ich weder beim ersten noch beim zweiten Mal eine Antwort erhielt. Worauf mir der Kellner antwortete: „Gehen Sie zur Bar, um zu bezahlen“, und ich stellte die gleiche Frage noch einmal – er teilte mir den Betrag meiner Rechnung mit. Ich dachte, ok, ich werde versuchen, mit Karte zu bezahlen (so wie ich es verstehe, versteht der Kellner nicht so gut Deutsch und hat sich nicht getraut, mir die Frage auf Englisch zu stellen). Ich nehme das Handy in die Hand, bringe es zum Terminal und dann fängt der Kellner an, mich anzuschreien: „Nein, wir können nicht mit Amex bezahlen.“ Empört über Emotionen. Ich bin ein sehr ruhiger Mensch. Aber das Verhalten des Kellners überraschte und empörte mich „ein wenig“. Ich war empört über den Ton und das Geschrei in meine Richtung. Ich antworte ihm: „Erstens: Warum schreist du mich an? Und zweitens habe ich Sie schon zweimal gefragt, Sie haben nichts geantwortet.“ Daraufhin regnete der Kellner mit den Worten (in gebrochenem Deutsch) noch größere Emotionen in meine Richtung: „Beruhige dich, sagte ich!Ruhe! Langsam!“ usw. In so hohen Tönen, dass das ganze Restaurant es hören konnte. Und gleichzeitig schnaubte er, flippte in meine Richtung aus, empörte sich über die anderen Kellner und so weiter. Mir wurde klar, dass die Person den Besucher einfach nur mit Negativität übergoss und mich nicht hörte (oder nicht verstand), ich setzte mich an meinen Tisch, bezahlte schweigend in bar und ging. ABER! Ich kann jetzt nicht schreiben, weil dies meiner Meinung nach inakzeptabel ist und es einfach schrecklich ist, dass Codo bei der Rekrutierung von Mitarbeitern deren Freundlichkeit und Höflichkeit nicht berücksichtigt. Einen Kunden ohne Grund anzuschreien ist die unterste Stufe der Arbeit. Ich selbst war in der Gastronomie tätig (Veranstaltungsleiter einer Restaurantkette) und weiß, wie dieser Bereich sehr gut funktioniert. Ich erwarte von anderen nichts Besonderes, aber minimalen Respekt, Freundlichkeit, angenehmen Service und Kundenorientierung – das ist ganz einfach. Natürlich, wenn dies zu den Werten des Restaurants gehört. Es tut mir leid, Codo. Trotz der sehr leckeren Gerichte und der schnellen Arbeit der Küche ist der Service schrecklich! PS: Natürlich ist es möglich, dass diese Person einfach schlechte Laune hat oder mit ihrem Leben nicht sehr zufrieden ist. Aber! Schreien, sich den Mund zuhalten und sich über einen Gast/Kunden/Kunden empören (ohne jeglichen Grund) ist inakzeptabel.

I really love the cuisine of Codo Restaurant. I think this is one of the few restaurants in Dresden where you can eat delicious sushi. I live in the center, so I always visited Codo in the old town (Kleine Brüdergasse 5). The cuisine was always at the highest level, fast, but the work of the staff was 50/50. Some were friendly, others less so, to say the least. However, there were never any unpleasant situations. Today I visited Codo at Albertplatz. And I just can't help but write about the situation that happened. I won't say anything about the fact that the sushi just fell apart into sticks, the waiter didn't even ask for the drink and then didn't bring any plates (and the sushi was served on a shared platter). It's the little things. At the same time, I was friendly and thanked the waiters for every approach. But in the end, when I wanted to pay the bill, a situation arose that did not give me the opportunity to remain silent and give Codo a good review (to my regret). I asked the waiter twice, “Can I use an Amex card?”, to which I didn’t get an answer the first or second time. To which the waiter replied, “Go to the bar to pay,” and I asked the same question again – he told me the amount of my bill. I thought, ok, I'll try to pay by card (as I understand it, the waiter doesn't understand German very well and didn't dare to ask me the question in English). I pick up the phone, take it to the terminal and then the waiter starts shouting at me: “No, we can't pay with Amex.” Outraged by emotions. I am a very calm person. But the waiter’s behavior surprised and outraged me “a little.” I was outraged by the tone and shouting in my direction. I answer him: “First, why are you yelling at me? And secondly, I've already asked you twice and you haven't answered anything." The waiter then showered even greater emotions in my direction with the words (in broken German): "Calm down, I said! Rest! Slowly!” etc. In such high tones that the whole restaurant could hear. And at the same time he was snorting, freaking out in my direction, getting indignant at the other waiters and so on. I realized that the person was simply showering the visitor with negativity and not hearing me (or not understanding me), I sat down at my table, silently paid in cash and left. BUT! I can't write now because, in my opinion, this is unacceptable and it is simply terrible that Codo, when recruiting employees, does not take into account their friendliness and politeness. Yelling at a customer for no reason is the lowest level of work. I myself worked in the catering industry (event manager for a restaurant chain) and know how this area works very well. I don't expect anything special from others, but minimal respect, friendliness, pleasant service and customer focus - it's very simple. Of course, if this is part of the restaurant's values. I'm sorry, Codo. Despite the very tasty dishes and the quick work of the kitchen, the service is terrible! PS: Of course, it's possible that this person is simply in a bad mood or not very happy with their life. But! Yelling, covering your mouth and being outraged at a guest/customer/customer (for no reason at all) is unacceptable.

Unfortunately, things used to be much better. We were there again in December and today and both times we waited a long time to place our order, even though the shop wasn't even half full and there were several waiters. Both times the waiters were very unfriendly and apathetic. Today we waited over half an hour for our drink and when my friend spoke to the waiter, he just looked at us and kept walking. The food last time was terrible. I got a bowl of dry seasoned rice with no sauce and my friend's curry sauce was clearly waterlogged and tasteless. For an hour no one came and asked us if we wanted something more to drink, even though I often made eye contact and it was clear that I wanted something. Overall it's just bad, we will never come back.

It was incredibly crowded for a Tuesday. The food was good, we had to wait a very long time before the waiter came. Second drink didn't arrive. We paid at the counter because no one was coming to the table. I don't think anyone would have noticed if we had left without paying.

It was very cool there. We sat at the small window facing the corner. You can watch the buzzing Albertplatz in any weather. It was tasty and definitely had good prices.

It is one of the best places to enjoy Vietnamese food. They also offer sushi. There are also outdoor seats. Food is served quickly and tastes great.

We recently visited the Vietnamese restaurant Côdô in Dresden. The food was tasty and well prepared. Unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. Despite our ability to communicate in German, the waiter was rude and careless. We were very disappointed by his behavior, especially when he shook his head after we decided not to tip due to poor service. Because of this experience we will not be returning.

Highly HIGHLY recommend the Vit Ca Ri (#86). The crispy duck had a great crunchy texture, and the red curry soaking up the rice was rich and flavorful. I would choose this dish again next time I'm in Dresden. Edit: it's been a week and I STILL CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS DISH

We were there on a Friday evening. Luckily we had reserved as it was full later. We ordered the sushi platter for 2 people. This was super delicious. What we noticed negatively, however, was that it was very cold. I had to keep my winter jacket on otherwise it would have been too cold for me. But the food was so good that we would like to go there again.

I always enjoy coming here, or to the sister branch opposite the Schauburg. The food is always delicious, always tastes fresh and is well seasoned. It also seems authentically Vietnamese, as far as I can tell. The service was sometimes a bit sloppy, but that's okay, especially since we were there on a public holiday and there were no major mistakes. The only real criticism is that it was relatively cold. Some of the guests and some of my friends were sitting there with coats/jackets. The toilet is okay, but could be better, but this was always a problem with the previous tenants, so it may be the landlord's fault that the bathroom situation has never been solved perfectly. All in all, we had a very fun evening and I'll definitely be back. Maybe with an additional sweater. ;-P
