Great, my favorite ramen shop. A little piece of Japan in Aachen, the Tantanmen are the best I've ever had!

You don't have to travel all the way to Düsseldorf for good ramen. The menu is small, straightforward, and the quality is impressive for me and my daughter. Despite the location near the mall, you can enjoy a wonderfully relaxed outdoor dining experience.

Their ramen was very tasteful, people were so kind. The atmosphere was also very soothing the restaurant in general has a very good vibe.

The ramen was so good that I briefly considered heading straight to the kitchen. 🍜🔥 It felt like half the menu was on a world tour, but what the heck – with THAT kind of taste, you don't really need a choice. The owner? A cross between Speedy Gonzales and an entertainer: chatty, super friendly, and at your table faster than you can say "Itadakimasu!" Definitely a place where you'll leave feeling full AND in a good mood.

We ate there today. Delicious food and excellent service. We'd love to come back! 1+

Update: We were invited back after the poor service experience on our last visit. This time, the service was courteous and quick, and the owner even spoke to us personally. The food was delicious again, and I will definitely be back, hopefully so they'll have more tea options available. Old: The ramen was delicious, but the service and availability were disastrous. We received our food almost two hours after arriving, half of the items on the menu were unavailable, and card payments weren't possible.

Too expensive and the food is not special, nor delicious

We had a lovely evening at Coco Chan, and both the food and drinks were delicious. Unfortunately, they were out of gyoza, which we had been counting on for our children's meals. I would have liked the ramen bowls to have a bit more variety in terms of ingredients, and the karaage was more greasy than crispy. The service was very enthusiastic but slightly overwhelmed, so we were twice given neighboring customers' dishes.

Took the miso ramen. The broth was good, but the noodles aren’t quite at the same level. Still a very good ramen. Inside doesn’t look Japanese though and the music is international usual stuff. Tamago wa oishikatta. 4 stars.

it took 1h20min to get me a ramen

We were passing by today and we found casually this place while going around shopping. It was all good, appreciated the real plants, the available place, even though when we arrived, there were places enough but then it got more and more busy around dinner time. The food was really good, it takes some patience to get the food and everything. I only saw one waiter managing all orders and three floors, quite some work, especially when the place was packed. Chapeau to him honestly. The waiting was worth it though. But I did expect it. I ate around Belgium and I know that eating in Germany is usually better. I was not disappointed at all, on the contrary.

The restaurant, located in a charming space near the city center, offers excellent ramen and good German-made drinks. The owner, very artistic in his management, is kind and friendly. Excellent value for money, we definitely recommend it.

A very good restaurant with authentic Japanese 🇯🇵 cuisine 😋. Along with Sakura, it's the second 🔝 address for Japanese food in Aachen.

We had a hard time with two people + we couldn't connect with the card, they said "we had a very functional terminal" and we didn't have that. We didn't give any more comments. We waited an hour for two noodles + you can't pay with a card, they said "our terminal is not working today" and they didn't warn us about it. We will never come back here again.

Enttäuschung und respektloser Umgang mit Gästen Wir haben über eine Stunde auf unser Essen gewartet – am Ende wurde rohe Nudeln serviert. Drei Tische, die 20 Minuten nach uns gekommen sind, haben jeweils zwei Gerichte deutlich früher bekommen. Die Kellner laufen von uns weg und erzählen jedes Mal eine andere Ausrede: mal hat die Küche den Auftrag verwechselt, mal sei er verloren gegangen. Die Atmosphäre ist angespannt, das Personal zeigt kein Interesse, das Problem zu lösen – stattdessen nur Ausflüchte. Ich spreche fließend Deutsch, aber mir wurde plötzlich vorgeschlagen, es vielleicht auf Englisch zu erklären – als ob das Problem die Sprache wäre und nicht der völlige Mangel an Service und Respekt. Ein sehr unangenehmes Erlebnis, ich komme definitiv nicht wieder und kann dieses Restaurant nicht empfehlen. Schade um die Zeit und den verdorbenen Abend. Déception et manque de respect envers les clients Nous avons attendu plus d'une heure pour notre commande - pour finalement recevoir des nouilles crues. Trois tables arrivées 20 minutes après nous ont reçu deux plats chacune bien avant nous. Les serveurs nous évitent et donnent chaque fois une excuse différente : tantôt la cuisine aurait confondu la commande, tantôt elle l’aurait perdue. L'ambiance est tendue, le personnel ne montre aucun intérêt à résoudre le problème, seulement des justifications. Je parle très bien français, mais on m'a tout de même proposé d'expliquer en anglais - comme si le problème venait de la langue, et non du manque total de service et de respect. Une expérience très désagréable, je ne reviendrai pas et je ne recommande pas ce restaurant. Temps perdu et soiree gâchée. Three tables, which arrived 20 days later for us, took off two pieces of skins much earlier. The waiters keep an eye on us and immediately tell us different versions: either the kitchen got the order wrong, or ruined him. The atmosphere is tense, the staff is not focused on the current problem, they are just looking for truth. I calmly say in German, rather than immediately explain to you in English - nothing on the right in the language, and not in the entirety of the service and respect to the client. This is an unacceptable fact, I won’t come here again and I don’t recommend this bet. Waste of time and a wasted evening. Disappointment and disrespect for guests We waited for our order for over an hour, and in the end they brought us raw noodles. Three tables that came 20 minutes after us received their orders (two dishes each!) before us. The waiters run away from us and each time tell us different excuses: either the kitchen got it wrong, or the order was lost somewhere. The atmosphere is tense, the staff is not interested in solving the problem, but only goes on the defensive. I speak German politely, but they suddenly offer me to switch to English - as if it's about the language, and not about the complete lack of service and respect for the client. A very unpleasant experience, I will not come back here again and I do not recommend it. It's a shame about the wasted time and the ruined evening.

The restaurant itself has a pleasant ambiance. The tables and chairs are clean, and the many windows bring in natural light. Unfortunately, most of the menu was unavailable, and there was only a limited selection of starters and main courses. Desserts were all out of stock. The meals were served after about 30-40 minutes. The house drinks, such as the lemon tea, were very tasty and served quickly. Unfortunately, card payments are not currently available.

Two vegan ramen options and vegan frozen cheesecake! Delicious :) The service is super good, but a bit hectic.

I was just passing through Aachen from Belgium and needed to use the restroom. The owner not only let me but also offered me the tea I ordered ! Because when i came back, he disappeared for a moment but he left a note next to the cup of tea saying, "It’s on me, just enjoy it outside :)". Such a small gesture, but it meant a lot. You can tell he’s genuine and kind-hearted. I couldn’t just walk away without showing appreciation, so here’s a shoutout for the good vibes! If I’m ever back, I’ll definitely stop by for a proper bowl of ramen. Thanks again!

The content of the ramen is not as diverse as it appears in the photo and the taste is average. When paying, they said they do not accept cards but there is no warning about this at the door, we had a hard time both eating and paying.

Food was great!Really tasty and we really loved the atmosphere.The reason I am giving less than I usually would is the time we had to wait.Although I do understand that the kitchen is short staffed I simply did not like that we had to wait as much as we did because we were starved!We waited an hour for our food,which to me was too much!

We went to Coco Chan for the first time last night. We really enjoyed it and it tasted good. We saw the ramen and were very impressed by the taste; it was very delicious. Good price for such a large portion. Plenty of seating. We'll definitely be back 😊✨

The ramen was quite tasty, but unfortunately not comparable to ramen in Japan. Still, the food here is good!

Good food in a quiet yet central corner.

After eating here repeatedly and also ordering takeout (I highly recommend the Tantanmen tofu!), we approached the owner about holding a small wedding at the restaurant. Organizing it was extremely easy; Veit was always very easy to reach and accommodated our special requests without any problems. You can definitely tell how much passion he has for this restaurant, and it's evident in the dishes!

Unfortunately, it was a very poor dining experience. The restaurant insisted on cash payments only. Before dining, they said the minimum credit card payment was €15, but after dining, they changed it to €30. We did not reach €30, so they refused our credit card payment and demanded a PayPal transfer. PayPal has a delay in processing payments, so the restaurant was concerned that we would default on the payment and insisted on taking a photo of our ID. Their attitude was very rude and unacceptable.

First of all, it is a very clean shop. The interior is stylish and cafe-like. It doesn't have the typical Japanese ramen shop atmosphere, but it is comfortable. The customers stay at their seats and chat for a while after they finish eating, which is different from Japanese ramen shops and makes it feel like a cafe. I ate tonkotsu ramen, and it felt different from the so-called "rich" tonkotsu ramen of Kyushu, that is, it wasn't rich, but it seemed to be made carefully and was delicious. When I ordered bancha tea, the teacup was too hot and I couldn't hold it even after a while, so I consulted the owner, who smiled and refilled the teapot and served it with a new teacup that wasn't hot, which was very kind. The husband of the owner couple helped me, and when I told him I was from Japan, he talked to me about various things in a friendly manner. According to him, the owner couple each have their own jobs other than this shop, and this shop is their "complete hobby project". Because it's a hobby, they are very particular and make their dashi from scratch without using pre-made dashi packs. By the way, the wife of the owners has a rather interesting background: she is currently studying mathematics as a doctorate student at a famous European university. "Owner of a ramen shop and a doctoral student majoring in mathematics at a famous university" - it's certainly interesting to live someone like that in this world!

Ramen base was very average (not bad...not nothing to write home about either) and below expectation given the reviews. Pork was not tender at all - something which definitely needs to be improved on. A solid 3 stars but not more unfortunately. Staff and personnel are however friendly - no complaints at all there.

Get authentic Japanese food here! First I had the gyoza, which tasted perfect and, in the classic way, without soy sauce. For the main course I had the Paitan Shio Ramen, which exceeded my expectations. Limited to a few ingredients, but each one with full flavor. Typically without a lot of frills, but with a clear and defined taste! The only thing that could be improved is the service, although the waiter was extremely nice but unfortunately he didn't show up a second time. Accordingly, although I was full, I left the restaurant without dessert. Price performance is unbeatable here and the view is wonderful!

Great food, unfortunately the service didn't really understand what we wanted. For example, the wrong drinks came twice. However, the food is authentic and super tasty!

Had a reservation here, waited at second floor for 15minutes. No menucard no person to ask that we want somethibg to drink. So is this japanes style, I don't thinks so. Went many times to tokyo and this is not the way! We left after 15min and went somewhere else. Such a shame looked forward after reading about this place.

The rating is more than justified! Absolutely deserved 5 stars. We were in a packed restaurant at prime time and were served promptly, with no pressure at all. The chef was able to pinpoint the ingredients very precisely. This is important for guests with food intolerances and special ingredient requests. The dishes were delicious and fresh. We have ordered 3 ramens. From true Japanese restaurant we have expected more taste. The 2 creamy ramens were not so creamy. The taste was a little bit flat. Of it would be a soup we would rate it 4 but as a ramen we can give 3. The pasta was stuck together on the bowl. We waited 1hr for soups. We were on Monday at 6pm. The restaurant was not full. The waiter could also inform us about the waiting time. Restaurant normal, clean but nothing special. The prices are good but it doesn’t convince me to come back again.

While passing through Aachen during a short trip to Belgium/Germany between Christmas and New Year's Day, my wife and I (with our 7-year-old son) decided to try this little ramen restaurant. We know the best ramen in the world (in Osaka) from having been to Japan several times, so we're always very lenient when it comes to ramen in Europe. And I have to say, there was some inspiration here: the tantan ramen and miso ramen were honestly decent, for a reasonable price. The bonus: a super friendly owner (who spoke English like a god, much better than us poor French people) who explained to us that his wife was half-Chinese, half-Japanese (hence the presence of tantan) and that his staff was quite cosmopolitan, including a Thai guy who hadn't had the good sense to be there that evening ;) even though my wife is of Thai descent, too bad! In short, a nice atmosphere, well-decorated place on the upper floors, friendly owner, very decent and tasty food. Highly recommended!!

You eat with chopsticks and a spoon, which might take some getting used to.) - Drinks: very good Japanese teas - Prices: good - Ambience: 3-story building with very nice furnishings; Anyone who can walk stairs well: Recommendation at the top, you have a great view of the pedestrian zone and a roof made entirely of glass. - Service: very friendly and helpful - Overall a very nice experience. I think everyone has different tastes for pasta-flavored ramen, but it didn't suit me. It had a strong garlic flavor rather than the flavor of the soup stock, and did not bring the unique harmony of ramen. Ramen-style pasta. It will suit German tastes. It wasn't bad, but it didn't meet my expectations. Or maybe the paitan ramen wasn't good.

We had dinner this evening. It was super delicious! Great and authentic advice on every meal, great service, lovingly furnished and all around great :) And the food was super quick! A heartfelt recommendation!

I can't give 4 stars in the details because the service was inattentive, the food was not up to standard for the price tag (no nori, tonkotsu not the best quality, ramen not hot enough) and both let us decide against dessert and/or coffee. Being a picky Asian, the noodle didn't cook well. I feel the noodle are still stick together in the pot, so it's not properly cooked. It keeps the taste of alkaline water which used when the noodle is made.

Very good! 👍 Where to start... let's see... the place is nice, good ambience, it may seem small but actually has enough space on the ground floor or first floor. The staff was friendly and there is an important point to note here. I read some reviews and most of the negative opinions were because of the slow service. Yes. It was slow, which could be due to a lack of staff. There was only one man who did everything. Cashier, waitress and also cook...? 🤔 Then, the food... and that's the cool part. We tried the Tonkotsu and Tantamen (with pork) and both were very similar to a Japanese ramen. The soy sauce covered egg was flavorful. The tantamen was a bit spicy for my taste but it was fine. The piece of pork was generous and well cooked. Good place to eat a good ramen 👍🍜

Unfortunately we had to wait a whole hour for our food. The gyoza were greasy and soggy on the bottom. I could have bought the pasta in the bowl just like that for 50 cents at the kiosk. Not recommended.

Finally manage to find a really good tonkotsu ramen in Aachen. The ramen noodle is thin and straight noodles which is typically served with a tonkatsu broth. Personally prefer this over the one I had at Dusseldorf.

Super friendly people. The owner told us a lot about the history of the restaurant and everything about the food. There's nothing wrong with the quality and the taste is fantastic! Also that you can wish for a less or more intense taste. We reserved a table for 6 people with a dog and were seated at the bottom so that the dog wasn't cramped and were also given a bowl of water. Absolutely fair in terms of price. Really a 5/5 experience for us. Thank you!

Super cute restaurant! My husband and I were in Japan in spring and we ate some really delicious ramen there. Info about ramen and how to be it. (You slurp them in Japan! So slurp them up. Nobody will be mad at you) In addition, the price was super affordable and the ramen was like it came from Japan. Or as they like to say, おいしい (oshii) 😍 We had an immediate flashback and will definitely be back. The staff was super nice and thanks to the owner for the nice conversation. We can only recommend the restaurant. In addition, you should not forget that the broth for the ramen is not as strong as we as Germans know it, but you should always be open to the food culture of other countries. I don't like anything too strong or too sweet, so it was perfect for us.👌🏻

We were here on a Saturday afternoon, there were not many people. Good and fast service (food arrived 10 minutes after we ordered), tasty food, nice atmosphere.

We tried different dishes and drinks, everything was super tasty and very high quality. There is a star deduction because of the service. Since there was only one waiter that evening, you had to wait a long time until you were served.

Have eaten here several times. Everything was always to our complete satisfaction.
