Probably one of the last rustic restaurants in Aachen. Service very friendly and attentive. The food tasted excellent. It was also positive that a current menu with fish dishes was offered.

We were with an illustrious group in Aachen's oldest restaurant in the evening. We were warmly welcomed, as if we had been guests there for years - we immediately felt at home! A very pleasant mix of hospitality and cosiness is on the agenda when visiting “Am Knipp”. The food was a poem! Long after the visit, I'm still raving about the soup as a starter and this incredibly tasty onion roast... the visit is rounded off by excellent service, which is nothing more than a matter of course for the employees and owners! All in all, the evening there was one of the TOP experiences in Aachen and makes you want to visit the cultural city again! We'll be back!!

Fantastic place to meet with friends and have a good time. I was there with my family (6 in total). When booking for such a small group ask for the Stammtisch! Food is traditional German and very well made. The place is a family business and you can feel the warmth and hospitality everywhere. Anytime again!

A successful evening. The mussels were as they should be, the beer was at a good temperature and the atmosphere was warm and informal. Great and hassle-free service. The atmosphere is like your grandmother's - so cozy.

A great and quaint Aachen restaurant. There were 6 of us there and the food was consistently delicious and well seasoned. The beef carpaccio is a dream. The service is super friendly, you immediately feel at home. The decor is nostalgic, there is a lot to see. We'll be back. 👍

Personally I didn't like it but that was my own mistake by taking something I didn't like. My boyfriend on the other hand loved it, which is why I'm giving it 5 stars! The restaurant is easily full so I recommend booking a reservation. The staff was very friendly!

Fui allí en un viaje de negocios y tenía el Puten Geschnetzeltes. Ni siquiera era un Geschnetzeltes, solo trozos de pavo seco. La salsa de mostaza de miel no era otra cosa que aderezo caliente de ensalada de mostaza de miel. El Bratkartoffeln estaba bien, pero no crujiente en absoluto. no bromeo, pero tengo que decir que no puedo recordar cuando tenía peor comida. La mayoría de mis compañeros tenían Schnizzel y todos estaban muy contentos, así que recomendaría si vas allí ir gor eso.

Brilliant German restaurant. We visited early December and it was full but we were seated immediately and Service throughout was both friendly and efficient. Food very tasty. Good wine selection and most important Kölsch beer! If in Aachen be sure to visit but book early if you want to get in.

Excellent food and delicious beer in a great atmosphere. The visit was rounded off by the warmth of the hosts. The onion cream roast and the ribs are highly recommended. We'd love to come back.

There is very tasty home cooking here. The staff is friendly and relatively quick. Only the ambience leaves something to be desired, a bit too bright for my taste, otherwise it looks like most older inns, solid wooden furniture and very ugly walls :). So if you want to eat a well-kept schnitzel in a rustic atmosphere, you've come to the right place.

Una gran proporción de la clientela parecía local, pero nos hicieron muy bienvenidos. Bebidas en la mesa muy rápido y la comida llegó en un buen ritmo relajante. Lo haríamos la primera opción cuando volvamos a Aquisgrán. Consejo - reserve temprano!

A restaurant a little further from the city center which has apparently existed for generations, we are very well received by a family restaurant, in fact it is a whole family that manages the restaurant. The food is good without being exceptional, but the charm of the place, the friendliness meant that we had a very good time

Was a great pick of today's restaurant. We ordered in advance because of buissiness of Christmas market, the restaurant was locaded 5 min walk from the market. Happy we booked as it was all full. The menu is small but good, looks like they make their own snitzels and they were not dry. The salad you get on the side was very tasty and i can not begin to tell how great the snails was, bit sad they were already out of the shell, but other than that full house, worth a visit!

Traditional German restaurant, food and service were excellent. All five of our group enjoyed everything about the place and would thoroughly recommend to anyone. Making a reservation is a must as even on a Thursday night the place was full for two sittings.

We were lucky that we cfw. We were able to reserve a table for 10-12 people at short notice (approx. 6 weeks in advance) for November 27th, 2024 (as we all know, things get difficult in the run-up to Christmas). The reservation was easy online and communication was quick and good. We wanted a table for 5:30 p.m. and the reservation was suggested to us for 2 hours because the table was then taken again. When we arrived at the Knipp, a few other guests were already waiting for the restaurant to open, which happened on time. We received a very friendly welcome and were shown to our table. The entire time we were served quickly, politely and attentively. The food was absolutely top. The starters were plentiful. The menu is short, but of course an indication of the good quality and freshness of the food - and that's how it was. The restaurant has a great (quaint) atmosphere. All in all, we had a great time and had a delicious meal. We would like to thank the hosts!

For me, Am Knipp is the restaurant that is most closely linked to Aachen. The atmosphere and hospitality is just great. The service is attentive and quick. The menu offers good home-style cuisine and there is something for everyone.

Ambiente muy agradable y te da un poco de la ''Edad Media'' vibraciones. La comida es deliciosa y el personal es muy amable. Hermosas decoraciones, grandes porciones. Tomamos el schnitzel con salsa de crema de hongos y era para morirse! Definitivamente prueba también el ''Aachener Printer Krauter - Likor''.

Very old restaurant with very good cuisine.

The go-to place for German food in Aachen for decades. Very tasty schnitzel, roast beef and sauerbraten. As a starter I recommend the lard breads. Very tasty draft beer and always attentive service. It's always best to make a reservation on weekends. The outside terrace is very nice.

The salad was well dressed, the schnitzel with fried potatoes didn't taste anything special, but the prices were hefty. I've eaten better for less money 😉 But the ambience is unique. Another real, rustic pub that you can hardly find anymore

Sehr gemütliches kleines Restaurant mit sehr gutem Essen und sehr nettem Personal. Es gab zusätzlich zu dem Menü noch saisonale Spezialitäten (Frische holländische Muscheln). Das hat uns sehr gefallen. Sehr interessante Atmosphäre die vor allem bei unseren internationalen Kunden sehr gefallen hat. Definitiv einen Besuch wert.

We celebrated a birthday at Am Knipp. Things like that don't happen that often. Flexible, friendly and the food was delicious. Rightly five stars.

Traditional German restaurant with classic decoration that gives a great ambience. The staff was welcoming and the service impeccable, making no difference between locals and tourists. The servings were generous and the food simple but delicious. We had a delicious pumpkin cream soup and then a schnitzel which was thick, but really juicy and needed no sauce. Also a roast beef fillet cooked to perfection. By dessert we were a bit full but could no resist ordering an apple pie with vanilla ice. Just amazing…

Very cozy restaurant where we as a group of 13 p. had a great time.

Very very nice atmosphere, kind staff but food is too expensive for what it is. We wouldn’t recommend the baked Camembert, which board is disappointingly empty and too expensive. We found the Schnitzels good but again, too expensive unfortunately!

Still as beautiful as it was 35 years ago when I was a student.

Stopped by Aachen for a conference and found “Am Knipp”. Quaint pub with a very good mix of locals and tourists. Excellent food and very friendly service, for whom service is still very important. A must for all visitors to Aachen!

Op 4 oktober bij Am Knipp geweest. Volgens website open om 17/30 uur. Waren daar om 18:30 uur en de zaak was gesloten. Er hing zelfs geen melding aan de deur met de reden.

Great local German restaurant in a great town.

For many years I have always experienced the highest quality in every respect here. The Bitburger beer is by far the best I know. The Ramrath family is characterized by exceptional hospitality and ensures that every guest immediately feels at home. The food is outstanding - especially the sauerbraten, which is unfortunately only occasionally on the menu, and is a real insider tip. We always enjoy visiting the Knipp and will continue to do so with pleasure in the future and always enjoy one or more “beers”.

The food was really great. The service was also attentive and friendly. I also had a wonderful time sitting in the beer garden. Atmosphere perfect. However, we waited almost 2 hours for food. Sorry, unfortunately that doesn't work at all. For this reason, unfortunately 2 stars deducted from the overall rating.

Very long waiting times - both for drinks and food

If you are looking for a place where you can breathe the Teutonic authenticity of the border, you have come to the right place. Family run since 1678 and the furnishings fully demonstrate it. Excellent food, authentic staff and exciting context. Unfortunately the prices are a little high, but they justify the quality of everything that revolves around the food.

A quaint restaurant/pub that you would find in the village, just in the middle of the city. Good German food, quick and friendly service. A special highlight is the carpaccio.

The restaurant is “cult”! You immediately feel like you're at home, the food tastes very good, just like your mother's. The staff is more than friendly and attentive. The best place to have a nice beer and a delicious meal.
