A really nice, original cafe! The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was great. We had to wait a bit for a table because it was very busy, but luckily we were able to enjoy a drink at the bar. Highly recommended if you're looking for traditional German food.

A superb, beautifully decorated place that perfectly captures the essence of a traditional German tavern, serving excellent dishes with a local flair. The service was quick and very friendly. Even though we hadn't made a reservation for our 44th wedding anniversary, they managed to find us a lovely little feast despite the restaurant being fully booked. Thank you! 👍

The entrance reflects the tradition the place aims to convey, but then the outdoor area is noisy and a bit chaotic. It's good, but nothing memorable. A slight disappointment is the very rude, lanky customer at the counter, who doesn't do justice to the style of the place.

We visited Am Kipp yesterday with my mom and sister, and we were absolutely blown away! The food was incredible – we had schnitzel with pepper sauce and a fresh salad, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Portions were generous, and we left with happy, full stomachs. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was lively and cheerful – yes, it’s a bit loud, but that’s part of the charm. Definitely make a reservation, as the place is usually packed. And the draft beer was just perfect! We’ll definitely be coming back.

We received a very warm welcome this evening. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were still able to get in, even though it was expected to be full from 7:30 PM onward. The starter and main course were delicious. The service was very friendly. It also looked really cozy!

The ambient was super cozy and dog friendly, the service was impeccable and the schnitzels were amazing! Everything was really, really good. If you’re around Aachen, I highly recommend it! Also, ask for the Crème Brûlée and thank me later.

Good and cozy atmosphere in the courtyard. Sweet and friendly waiters. The food was delicious and nice sized portions. Ordered schnitzel with roasted potatoes and turkey breast in mustard with roasted potatoes. Both were tender and delicious. Definitely a place to recommend.

A very traditional restaurant in the sense of the atmosphere. The inside is very old style traditional, lovely, all in welcoming order, while the garden area is airy and more relaxing, you pick. Great service open for a quick chat, nice.

The food is truly impeccable, as is the service. But be aware that the place is often very crowded (especially after Allennannia games). If you like the hustle and bustle, this is the place for you.

The restaurant is a family-based business running by the fourth generation. It's vintage look is very nice and the pictures on the wall give you a brief history of how everything started and how it's going. I spent a good time there

Delicious traditional food. Fantastic schnitzels!

We had reserved, but there was no table with our name on it. It didn't matter, it wasn't full. We waited over 20 minutes before being seen. We ordered schnitzels, and after 20 minutes, the waitress told us they were out... We had to order steaks for 10 euros more. We waited over an hour for our meal. Expensive for what we received: two dishes, two beers, a glass of wine, and a bottle of sparkling water for 95 euros.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The price-performance ratio is excellent. The food is incredibly delicious. The meat is tender, and the fried potatoes are definitely homemade. The staff is very attentive and friendly, fulfilling every wish. I would definitely come back.

Small, family owned and operated traditional German restaurant in Aachen, Germany. Inside has a few tables and bar, but there is also a nice biergarten for outside. Great food, friendly service and fair prices. Reservations recommended. Locals frequent this restaurant, so that should tell you something.

A family-run business in its fourth generation, its good reputation has been confirmed. Although there were an unusually large number of guests that evening and the staff were quite busy, we were very satisfied and would happily recommend "Am Knipp." A summer evening outdoors that we will fondly remember.

It's impressive to be hosted by a family who have been serving customers and preparing local dishes for over four centuries. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The only downside is that they charge €3.60 for a glass of tap water. It's not just here; throughout Germany, water is incredibly expensive, but we've always found tap water free. So, this was a bit disappointing.

Great food, service and atmosphere! They led us to the back of the restaurant, a paved garden with gorgeous gazebos and fairy lights as the sun began to set. Had the garlic escargots, schnitzel with pepper sauce, turkey breast with mushroom sauce (super flexible as that should have been with a mustard sauce), potatoes cooked to perfection and a fresh season salad. The wines recommended were excellent. Definitely a lovely spot to dine, in this charming German town! :)

Coming in from the front, I thought it was just a bar. As I walked further in, I could see tables leading to an area that opened up into a beautiful, intimate area outside! The food was good, and the staff all greeted me and said hi while passing by! If I make ot back to Aachen, this will definitely be a must-do!

We were there in beautiful weather and, thankfully, had a reservation. Absolutely necessary, as all the tables were taken later. Unfortunately, there was a 1.5-hour window for our stay. Our table was in the large garden. The service was quick and friendly. Starters and main courses arrived just in time.

One of the best authentic German restaurants i have ever been. Great food, great hospitality and amazing for small groups or big groups.

We walked in here and got a place in the outside garden. That was nice despite the rain (we were dry because of the canopy). From what we saw, the rest of the restaurant also looks nice. Children's menus are very cheap. We had the schnitzels ourselves. Very tasty!! We also got a salad beforehand. We found white wine a bit pricey at €7.50, although the glasses were full. All in all a very pleasant tasty experience

A bit hidden away but definitely worth it. Traditional German food but that's exactly what I love ;-) Saturday early evening and no reservation, so a spot in the conservatory. Everything was reserved. No problem with nice weather but it was raining cats and dogs. A bit chilly and a few drops every now and then. Oh well, with a nice Weizen plus a few schnitzels I thought it was fine 👍

The price is too expensive. The schnitzel was nothing special. The male waiter was rude. But the interior, which is like a museum, is very nice.

Die Gastwirtschaft war urig und passend im Inneren eingerichtet. Dazu gab es noch einen großen Außenbereich im hinteren Bereich, der superschön hergerichtet war, zum Wohlfühlen. Der Service war freundlich und das Essen sehr lecker in einer guten Qualität.

Visited in April. Twenty years later, it was a great pleasure to return to this restaurant, whose reviews already confirmed its enduring quality. Indeed, Mrs. Lilly Ramrath, with her big smile, served us excellent escalopes cooked by her husband. And still the same unique setting, dominated by Delft porcelain. As an anecdote, the server kindly offered me the house lighter (with QR code) upon seeing the old one (with fax number) brought back like a trophy...

Quaint restaurant with German cuisine and a well-selected menu. There are also outdoor tables in summer. The service is quick, the dishes are delicious with good ingredients. The steaks were very good and cooked to perfection. Parking on the street within walking distance. A seat reservation is recommended. Can be a bit noisy in the evenings when there are a lot of visitors.

The intention was to go to the Brauhaus. But it was closed on Good Friday. Am Knipp was mentioned by an ice cream seller as an alternative. Definitely didn't regret it! A Brauhaus is German, but so is Am Knipp. Very authentic and not unimportant, good food and good service! I was there around 6:30 PM, and they still had room for one person. People who came around 7:15 PM had no place without a reservation. That is therefore recommended.

I recently went to the Am Knipp restaurant and was completely impressed. As soon as I entered I was warmly greeted - the service was super friendly, attentive and really made the evening pleasant. The food was simply great: fresh, tasty and lovingly prepared. I also found the cozy atmosphere particularly nice – you immediately feel at home. All in all, a great visit that I would happily repeat!

Nice restaurant for all ages. Traditional family business. You sit at long tables. The menu is manageable, but very selected. NO fries, but unbeatable fried potatoes and a salad dressing to sink your teeth into. Good middle class, slightly higher price range, worth every cent. We'll definitely see each other again next time we visit Aachen!

Was für ein gemütliches und ursprüngliches Lokal. Das gesamte Team ist äußerst aufmerksam und freundlich auf Top Niveau. Jeder fühlt sich für den Gast verantwortlich. Man fühlt sich auch als „Fremder“ direkt rundum geborgen. Die Speisekarte ist zwar nicht äußerst umfangreich, dafür sind aber die Gerichte echt frisch zubereitet und äußerst geschmackvoll. Das war echt mega. Ein echter Lichtblick! Hierzu gibt es frisches Gaffel Kölsch und ordentliche Brände. Für dieses Lokal nehmen wir die Fahrt gerne noch einmal nach Aachen. Ich habe jetzt noch den Geschmack im Mund.

Aachen can be very proud of that! What a cozy and original place. The entire team is extremely attentive and friendly at a top level. Everyone feels responsible for the guest. Even as a “foreigner” you feel completely safe. The menu is not extremely extensive, but the dishes are really freshly prepared and extremely tasty. That was really great. A real ray of hope! There is also fresh Gaffel Kölsch and good brandies. We would like to take the trip to Aachen again for this restaurant. I still have the taste in my mouth now.

Lovely, cosy local restaurant, which seems to attract a lot of the locals as well, more so than travellers, which is usually a great sign, meaning that the food is authentic. The schnitzels here were fantastic, good size, great batter and both the pepper and mushroom sauce were super flavourful, of course accompanied by some locals beers this was a real treat. Lovely staff as well!
