Cochin 1982 in Stuttgart

Some very good food, especially the Buddha Bowl and Bun Nem. Other dishes, however, are not so good. Unfortunately it has now become very expensive.

The food was bad, cold, served 3 minutes after ordering, so it was not made fresh, which of course you could feel. The restaurant smelled from the entrance, but tempted by so many good reviews, we decided to stay. Big disappointment. The burger was very strange to say the least. The bun was sweet and sticky and the meat was spiced very strangely. Unfortunately not worth the money.

Unfortunately there was pineapple in the Cochin Soul soup (number 3) (it wasn't on the menu). Unfortunately the main course was a total failure. It was Bun Bo Nam Bo (number 20). The meat was dry, the "exotic herbs" were a few coriander leaves, the rice noodles had no taste as usual (fish sauce, etc.), there was so much mango dressing on the salad that you couldn't taste anything else. The peanuts and onions listed on the menu were also missing. Peanuts were brought when asked, but onions were out. Finally there should be Vietnamese coffee with milk. Unfortunately there was no milk in it. When asked they just said "it's at the bottom"... Unfortunately it wasn't. Not a recommendation because the pricing is far too high for the food and drinks... To also say something positive: the portion size was large

Friendly service and good quality of food. Unfortunately, the seating inside the store is very close together, which doesn't provide much privacy while eating. Unfortunately, it was extremely disturbing that many couples with small children were constantly present and this created a corresponding background noise. We had the Pho soup and a daily special with duck. The dishes were good, but the portions weren't really filling for the high price. All in all worth a visit.

We went around dinner time so we had to wait a little for a table, but the service was acceptable given how busy the servers were. The food was also reasonably quick and tasty. The portion is big. The only thing that spoiled it for us a bit was when we saw a big rat running outside on the terrace right under the tables. Luckily it was winter so no one was dining outdoors…

Excellent food!!! Vegetarian as well as chicken!

The food in this restaurant was really excellent – ​​fresh, tasty and tasted at a very high level. Kudos to the kitchen! Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was anything but pleasant. The service was extremely slow. We had to wait almost an hour for our drinks which is completely unacceptable. We waited a total of two hours for the food, which greatly dampened the positive impression of the food. In addition, the atmosphere was a disaster. At the next table there was a family with a child who was screaming nonstop. There was also extremely loud music coming from their cell phones, which apparently no one in the restaurant objected to. It was impossible to relax or really enjoy the food. In summary: excellent food, but the service and the unpleasant atmosphere make it difficult to recommend this restaurant. Something urgently needs to be improved here.

The Food ok, the homemade drinks very mainstream, but not for the crazy prices they asked for. The Service polite but as far as the atmosphere, it was the most cold place I have ever got into in Germany especially during December.

The food was ok but the quality and the taste not even close to the extremely high prices! Even the drinks were really expensive. The worst thing probably was, that there was no heating inside the restaurant (December with 0 degrees outside). It was really cold and you couldn't enjoy your meal and stay for a long time. Disappointing.

Great service, fantastic food, just great. But when we were sitting "downstairs" it got really cold at some point (only noticed after eating). It was probably cozy and warm “upstairs”. Next time we'll take a seat upstairs for a culinary short break 😀

Mega friendly staff, super fast service and a totally delicious, tasty Asian burger with fries and edamame. I'd be happy to pay a little more for that!

Chicken not edible, some weird aftertaste, too much sugar and glutamine in the sauce, cows milk instead of coconut milk. Very disappointing lunch. A cup of tea 6,50€. Not sure how they got their high ratings. Not for food definitely!

Really love the food so much, order often, take it with me and now wanted to eat there. How can you treat your customers so unkindly? What's up? Laughing at someone because the card didn't work the first time is crazy. You also never know what languages ​​people can speak, so it's very cheeky to make fun of them in front of your colleagues at work while you're serving them. It's a shame if you have to feel unwelcome!!

Descent middle of the road Vietnamese cuisine.

Food delicious. If you feel like sitting in the cold and freezing, and want to pay higher prices to be hip - that's exactly the right place. We pointed out to the waiter three times that it was really cold - not subjective. You sat and ate with a jacket on. Of course the food got cold quickly. And that's a shame, because it was delicious.

I've been here several times and the food and service have always been top! In summer you can also sit outside.

We are so excited about Cochin! Yesterday we were there for the first time and it certainly won't be the last time. We all enjoyed the food and the starters were also very good. The drinks and especially spritzers and iced jasmine tea are recommended. The service was extremely friendly and very accommodating. There is authentic Vietnamese food here and we love it! We thought the Vietnamese coffee was okay, but we wouldn't order it here again. Still deserves 5 stars!

A little hidden in the city center, but definitely worth it. Quality is exceptionally good. And the quantities are plentiful. The mocktails are also recommended - and they are always served cheerfully 😄.

Firstly, as you walk into the restaurant it has soft lighting and lovely music for the atmosphere. It feels very relaxing to be transported away from the cold air and busyness of the streets and enjoy delicious food with very helpful and wonderful staff members. As it was a bit chilly outside, I opted for the Pho Bo Ha Noi with Rare beef slices and an Organic Star tea. The Pho had a light delicious broth and was quite filling (the bowls are quite large - but great to take-home for later). However the star of the show (no pun intended) was the Organic Star tea (light organic tea with fresh lime leaf, with lemongrass, ginger, longan and liquorice) this was incredibly soothing and exactly what I needed with a slight sore throat. Also perfect just as a winter pick me up. I also couldn't help getting an extra tea for the road as it was so good.

Nice atmosphere, delicious Vietnamese food, in the middle of Stuttgart next to Königstrasse / shopping mile... Attentive service. Gladly again, worth recommending. 👍

I can't rate the food and ambience because the extremely rude cellar in front of the restaurant snatched the menu out of our hands and closed the entrance door in our faces. This for no apparent reason. We just studied the menu, which is on a stand in front of the restaurant. No hello no nothing... But when I read the rest of the reviews here I'm firstly glad that we didn't eat here and secondly amazed that so many people complain about the extremely rude guy but things continue unchanged.

Inconspicuous location, ambience fits, cozy. Service super friendly Katze offers variety and typical Vietnamese dishes - but also "friendly for Europeans". Prices seem “upper midrange” to me, I think the food is excellent. Had the “cochin beef”. Great meat, very good composition. A dressing with mango flavor for the salad - a great counterpoint to the spicy sauce over the meat. Reservations make sense.

Discovered by chance. There were three of us there. Ordered different food. Everything tasted okay. Pleasant atmosphere. Feel free to come by again.

The food tasted good at the time, but I felt sick a short time later. The staff argued in front of us and were generally rather unfriendly. The toilets look nice, but were not clean.

I regularly come from Freiburg because the food here is just so good. The waitresses are always friendly and everything happens incredibly quickly. Here you can only give full marks!

Very nice Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of downtown Stuttgart. The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive. The food was extremely fresh and the dishes we had authentic. Nice cocktails as well. The outdoor seating area was lovely. Will be back for the Bun Bo, which was one of the better ones I’ve had (and I make a pretty mean one at home!). And the service!

The food was pretty great, but nothing special, considering the price. The younger staff was absolutely terrible, they did not even try to communicate with us in english and didn’t even bother to read the translator from us, luckily after some time someone older came in and saved the day..

Vietnamese cuisine, its cooking skills, products and aroma are incredibly delicious. We spontaneously went to Cochin 1982 without an order and were seated straight away. With a very attentive operator, we were immediately given nice advice. Very fresh food, very good quality and prepared quickly. The atmosphere was incredibly cozy and decorated in Vietnamese style. The toilets clean and stylish. For a brief moment I thought I was in Vietnam 🇻🇳. Thank you for this great evening experience, we will be back and highly recommend you.

Shortly after noon we were at Cochin 1982 on Schulstrasse. There wasn't much going on and we were among the first in the restaurant. We discovered it online. The images looked interesting and appealing. We were warmly welcomed by the service staff and were allowed to choose a seat. There was hardly any space outside to park your stroller, but the inside wasn't so cluttered and we were able to sit in a nice corner with our stroller. The employee who served us was cool and enjoyed his job. He greeted us every time he came and said goodbye every time he left. In the end it was a bit too much of a good thing and unfortunately it wasn't entirely authentic. Otherwise, the colleague is definitely a better alternative to the many other listless employees at other restaurants. I had a wantan soup and we also had crispy rolls and dumplings. We had a homemade lemonade, which was very sweet, as well as a mild and really tasty iced jasmine (green tea) as drinks. Unfortunately, the broth of the wantan soup was rather bland and the taste of the filled dumplings didn't blow me away either. They definitely couldn't justify the price of around 18 euros (for a noodle soup). The finger food was generally good and tasty in taste, but here too the quantity and quality did not match the extremely high price. The atmosphere in the restaurant itself is pleasant. Everything is nicely decorated and clean. Some of the wood, on one corner or the other wall, is a bit worn and shows heavy signs of wear, but otherwise I couldn't find anything to complain about inside. On the outside, however, it is very unloving. You can only notice the transition to the neighboring restaurant if you look closely, as both use the same furniture. All in all, Cochin 1982 is not a bad restaurant. The problem is the high price, which the food doesn't justify. For over 20 euros per person I expect something more than nice decoration, attractive menus and nice staff.

WORST SERVICE EVER! I have never encountered such service in my life. Me and my friend found this place while walking along Stuttgart area and decided to try it since we were searching for a place to chill. We asked for a table for 2 and they assigned us a huge table instead. An asian guy who seems to be the manager there came to take our orders, we only wanted to order drinks first and decide for food later. This guy rudely told us that, if they knew we only wanted drinks, they wouldn't offered us the table. He told us that customers here should order food and drinks as it is the "WEEKEND." We didn't want to make a scene. So we asked if they could just transfer us to a smaller table but he insisted that we just stay where we are already sitting. We also said if that's the case we can just order the food now, but the waiter insisted that we just keep in mind about the rules in the future. This incident has already ruined our evening. However, we noticed that people around us who just ordered drinks wasn't being told off. The difference? They were either white or german. I really don't understand this Money-hungry business. Worst thing was, before we even finished our drinks (it was just 10 minutes after we got our drinks) he even had the audacity to go to our table and tell us we need to go since other customers are waiting. Fact was, everyone was seated and there wasn't any line. He repeated once again *loudly that since it is the weekend they need the bigger table to seat bigger groups and ordering drinks is not enough. We did not want to make a scene, thus we asked to pay and the male waiter stormed into the restaurant without saying anything. Even when paying the male waiter repeated again the excuse for needing the table and their food plus drinks policy. We are not intellectually challenged to understand the reasons the first time, but to repeat over and over again infront of other customers was just humiliating. IN A NUTSHELL, 1. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU EXPECT A CHILL EXPERIENCE. 2. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE ARE NOT EUROPEAN/WHITE (the double standard is real, read other reviews about this place)

The rudest service ever! *specific to the male waiter Making side comments on our order, telling us that it is not enough for a "weekend night" and making us move to sit elsewhere when we were not even done with our drinks. Other customers ordered the same amount and did not get the same we did. Is it because we are not European? We spoke German with him but he replied in English. Yes, my German is not perfect but I have never had a problem in ordering in restaurants before (been here for 3 years). Be careful if you decide to dine here! The other waitresses are nice but seems to be a bit depressed - maybe from the micro managing of the male waiter

I recently dined at Cochin 1982 in Stuttgart. I've been looking forward to dining there having missed a chance when I visited Stuttgart previously in the year. But I regret to say that the experience was disappointing, largely due to the poor service we received. My sister made a reservation for the three of us—two of us are Indian, and our friend is German. Despite arriving on time, we were made to wait before being seated, which was just the beginning of the issues. When the waiter finally approached us, he only asked our German friend about the reservation, completely disregarding my sister, who had actually made the booking. This behaviour felt both chauvinistic and racially biased. Even after my sister pointed out her name on the reservation list, the waiter seated us outside without any explanation. The worst part was when the waiter handed us our menus and made a rude comment, asking if I was my sister's mother. When I pointed out how inappropriate that comment was, he dismissed it and continued with our orders. Shockingly, he took my starter order but then ignored me when I was about to order my main course, only asking my sister and her friend. I had to wait until another server noticed the mistake and took my order with an apology. To top it all off, when the bill came, the waiter handed the card reader to our male friend, even though my sister was the one paying. After the payment, he shook our friend’s hand and completely ignored me, not even acknowledging my presence as we left. Overall, the service was not only unprofessional but also disrespectful. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable, and I hope the management addresses these issues to prevent others from experiencing the same treatment.

I had an excellent dining experience at this Asian restaurant in Stuttgart, which I would highly recommend to anyone. The starter was excellent and the soup was simply amazing. What is particularly impressive is the inclusion of gluten-free and lactose-free options, which is practiced excellently here. The outdoor terrace is wonderfully furnished and offers a wonderful atmosphere. The service was super competent and friendly. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fair. I will gladly come again!

We went in with some expectations due to the positive reviews. When we reached the restaurant, it was relatively empty (no reserved signs placed at the tables). The moment we spoke English, the male server immediately told us that he only spoke German and that the restaurant was full. As we were standing there in a moment of awkward silence, the server suddenly changed his tune and started speaking to us in English, saying that his English was bad (in decent English the whole time) and had an empty table outside for us. The whole change in attitude was so sudden that it all seemed fake. Unfortunately the food was average (the pho was really salty) and did not make up for the bad service. Honestly, we felt somewhat discriminated as the server was really friendly to all the German speaking customers and it felt like he was being very cursory with us. We have been in Germany for a week now and this was the first time we came across such horrible service and experience at a restaurant.

This place is very cute and lovely, dishes are big and well presented with variety of vegetables however too much unnecessary salad for my taste. The sauce was extremely sweet unfortunately (I wish it was on the side instead) and not spicy at all even if I ordered a spicy sauce. Quality of ingredients is good and therefore I understand why dishes are so expensive. I would go here just for a big occasions definitely not an everyday restaurant.

It was our first time here... now I wonder why?! Where was this pearl of Vietnamese cuisine hidden or why haven't we heard about it?! We can highly recommend it. The menu leaves nothing to be desired and we enjoyed everything very much. Definitely a recommendation. We will be back.

Unter aller sau die Bedingungen/Chef Fragt nicht was wir essen wollen sondern ob wir uns verlaufen haben. Wir antworteten mit wir möchten gerne hier essen. Bis dahin noch akzeptabel dann zur Bestellung alter Falter. 3 Cola 2 Suppen und eine sommerrolle. Der MF/Hu.....Sohn drängt uns bevor das essen auf dem Tisch ist zu bezahlen. Bei Ihnen werde es so gemacht aber die anderen Gäste nicht nur bei uns ich hab alle angesprochen dem ist nicht so. Ich war da eigentlich gerne da aber er hat mich nicht erkannt. In so ein beschissenes Restaurant geh ich bestimmt nicht mehr hin. Gegessen haben wir nicht alles den das hatte ein sehr bitteren Abgang. Ich hab nicht mal das bekommen was ich bestellt hab ohne Koriander was kam natürlich mir den Kraut. Anstatt mir was neues anzubieten sagte er ich soll essen und den kleingeschnittenes Koriander nicht mitlöffeln. Sehr professionell der Herr hahaha danke für das Beispiel wie man das nicht macht. Ich hoffe ich bleibe ein Einzelfall .

The food was sooooo nice, me and my family had such a great late lunch there! The portion was huge!

I have really mixed feelings about. We were just about to sit at the table when the waiter approached and threw a sign 'reserved' on the table without saying anything. That was really rude! We were standing confused and in about a minute the waiter decided to give us a table. Suddenly he became too friendly (after asking us if we speak russian) and smiling, but after that rudeness it was kinda false as I see it. If I was alone I would never eat there, but we were with parents and heading to the airport, so no time to find other place. The food was tasty though. The biggest Pho Bo I've ever eaten. Definetely okay for 2 people. It is HUGE! Springrolls could have more rice inside. To many salad for my taste. The tableware needs replacement, lots of big chips on the plates.

If you are in Stuttgart and you like Vietnamese dishes, this is a place to try. The portions are big and tasty and the prices are normal, not low, but also not that high. Tried some appetizers, Pho Bo as main dish and a homemade lemonade.

Been there for the first time and never again! There was a hair in the food and instead of apologizing, they tried to accuse us of putting it in ourselves. The owner asked what he should do now because it happens often. We were shocked when he then wanted to cash in on us so that we would leave. Such impudence! You shouldn't treat customers like that. Not worth a star!!!

I was here with two of my very annoying nieces (extra wishes etc.) and yet everyone was very nice to us. The food was really very good. I had a veggie rice bowl with tofu, the tifu was just perfect. I can highly recommend it❤️

Für Allergiker nicht zu empfehlen. Allergene sind nur zum Teil angegeben. Saucen sind teils glutenhaltig, wird aber nicht angegeben. Weißweinschorle ist fast ohne Kohlensäure.

It was a perfect match. A culinary delight in terms of food, friendly and courteous service and a wonderful ambience. The selection of fresh ingredients and the preparation of the dishes are great. I've eaten a lot of Asian food, but this Vietnamese cuisine has been the best of all at the moment. Until next time 👍
