City Lounge in München

I recently ate at this restaurant and, for the life of me, I can't understand all the positive reviews. The prices are extremely exorbitant, and that for food that impresses neither in terms of taste nor quality. I ordered a tuna pizza. The crust was so large that it's not normal. It felt like more crust than pizza, and there was no topping at all. They were really stingy! It had tuna, and the little tuna that was on it didn't even taste fresh. Everything seemed very carelessly prepared. The most expensive pizza. I don't remember exactly what kind it was, but €18.50 or so is a joke. The drinks were also a disappointment. Instead of a refreshing spritzer, I got an overly sugary mix that tasted more like syrup than fruit, and they charged a hefty price for that, too. (I could also put a few peppermint leaves in it to make it look better, but if it tastes like crap, it's no good.) Regarding the service, though: Some of the employees were helpful and friendly, I have to say that. But the manager himself (a taller, dark-haired, somewhat heavier man) was extremely rude and insolent. No hello, no smile, no "please" or "thank you," just an irritated tone. As a guest, you feel anything but welcome. The music in the store was much too loud. A normal conversation was impossible. Poor quality, unfriendly tone, too loud, and completely overpriced. I will never come back and unfortunately cannot recommend the store at all.

In Munich on our travels through Germany, wanted a restaurant close to our hotel and station, and fancied Italian, this is an unassuming restaurant on a busy street. We ordered a mixed starter, followed by a seafood risotto and a sliced ​​beef: all impeccable, tasty and well presented. The wine list is also excellent, with well-selected Italian labels. What a great find this Italian restaurant in Munich! As soon as we entered, we were greeted with a smile and an inviting smell of Mediterranean cuisine. The place is intimate but elegant, with details that recall the real Italy, that of Sundays with the family. We started with tagliatelle bolognese, and then schnitzel with chips. All accompanied by a glass of Tuscan red wine recommended by the waiter, which was truly spot on. To finish, a classic tiramisu that seemed to have been made by grandmother. Fast service, friendly and attentive staff without being intrusive. Honest prices for the quality offered. A corner of Italy in Monaco that is absolutely worth trying!

Came to Munich for a school trip. I had already realized that Italian food abroad is not instantaneous, but this really makes you cry. Let's start with the pasta: served cold and almost as hard as a stone. Let's move on to the second: a cutlet cooked in used engine oil, made literally 2 hours before and reheated on the spot. Also brought burnt and dripping with oil. Inedible and disgusting. The only saving grace are the fries which are decent. Let's analyze the dessert, which is usually difficult to do badly. Served a sandy, nauseating ice cream, impossible to eat. But that's not all: dirty place and incompetent staff: spaghetti spilled on a friend of mine, chips scattered on the table. Smelly smell of burnt garlic and very hot room, with no air conditioning. Finally, when booking we were told that there were dishes for celiacs, but when ordering it is not even possible to eat pasta and forced to eat salad and chips. Impossible to have clean glasses and water not on tap. In short, one of the worst places I've ever eaten in. I strongly advise against it to anyone who only has the remote intention of wanting to go.

I strongly advise against this place. I went with my family and two kids. I ordered two pizzas and another dish. Since the waitress understood that we were going to share a pizza, she offered to bring it already divided. And here’s the trick: they brought the pizza with several pieces missing — less than three-quarters of a pizza split onto two plates. They thought they could be clever! Dishonest and rude! They even laughed after we pointed it out! Avoid this place and go to more honest restaurants — there are plenty in Munich!

This cosy pizzeria offered not only excellent pizza, made with fresh ingredients and a perfectly crisp base, but also a truly memorable welcome from José Carlos, a warm-hearted Portuguese host whose kindness and genuine hospitality set the tone for the entire evening; his friendly attitude and personal touch transformed a simple meal into a moment of connection, making us feel less like customers and more like old friends.

Ideal restaurant. Good views at the entrance to the old town of Munich. Not bad price. We ordered a York ham and cheese pizza, with an egg in the middle. It was very good, the flavor was very reminiscent of a good Italian pizza. Accustomed to less artisanal pizzas, the dough is thin, but there is good quality in the ingredients. terrible. in every sense. the pasta was overcooked and there was no parmesan cheese. the meat was terrible, it was served cold, only the potatoes were good. at a certain point during dinner they even took away our water, even though we had a FULL bottle. and they even kicked us out. if you are Italian, don't come to this place, terrible.

For me the almost perfect Italian in Munich. I have been visiting the restaurant for years and it has always tasted great. Pizza and pasta are particularly recommended there, as are the tasty cocktails 😁 First of all there is good bread with garlic/chilli oil, I would recommend the small side salad - very tasty! The atmosphere is rustic and modern, large and always busy, which is why it tends to be louder than the small Italian restaurant with tablecloths and flowers on the table. In summer you can also sit outside, but that's a matter of taste as to whether you think it's nice between Sonnenstrasse, bike path and pedestrian path😄It doesn't bother me😉 The service is friendly and on point, I personally never had to wait long. For me it would be the perfect Italian if a Cesar salad was actually a Cesar salad🙈 Unfortunately your dish has nothing to do with it, which is a shame!! The waiters were impatient with Asian people. And the meals are between average level only. Don’t expect too much. It is mandatory to collect 10% tip whatever the service how bad is. Just like a fast food restaurant taste. Sucks!

Rude staff who present themselves badly and are also obnoxious do not use the trays to carry glasses and cups but who put their fingers inside them thus touching the food inside them. The food is quite poor with inadequate and sad portions. The dark and creepy place features signs of well-known alcoholic beverages popular in Italy which attempt to lighten the atmosphere and spread joy and light-heartedness but with terrible results. Personally I am not aware of the prices of the place but I think that for what I ate you don't pay more than 10 euros for a dish.

Came with the school, pasta sucks, overcooked and cooked in the microwave, terrible experience. I understand the high number of people but the food is terrible (as is its quality). If the food is the same as they serve, don't go there. We waited a long time once and another time we were chased away as soon as we finished the meal.

I had the pleasure of interacting with this restaurant (if it deserves to be called that) during a school trip, we came two evenings in a row and both times we waited more than 30/40 minutes, once inside you immediately notice the decibel level inside the place comparable to the tumult of ciompi, the pasta is overcooked and the sauce so insignificant that if I had poor Boccelli's visual faculties I would certainly have mistaken it for a pasta dish in broth, for a second course a cutlet whose level of grease was vaguely reminiscent of P Diddy's parties, the staff, who in the few 5-star reviews I saw were defined as Italian, instead turn out to have North African accents and respond abruptly, showing the empathy of a hydrocarbon compound. There is little to say and a lot to do to improve, I would recommend removing the Italian sign first.

me and my class went to this restaurant twice during the school trip. they made us leave after less than an hour after we had just ordered some beers because they had too many people to feed. its outrageously sad how they treated us. the meat was often cold too, bad quality.

Calling it a soup kitchen for the homeless is a compliment. Never eaten so badly, pasta that isn't pasta but an overcooked dish, a cutlet with chips that must have been cooked last week.

Wonderful restaurant. We came here for a friend's birthday and the treatment was fantastic. They even surprised her with a birthday cake which was so unexpected. I adore the waiter and staff for their kindness and will come back. The place is customer friendly and the food is delicious with a decent price. The atmosphere is extremely elegant and great to celebrate her birthday in style. All 10/10, we came at a late hour when the restaurant was almost at capacity on the weekend. We were greeted politely at the door and shown to our seats. Love. I personally ordered: turkey schnitzel, a delicious dessert and a few cocktails. What I also find commendable is that I had a few special requests regarding the food and they were fulfilled, even exceeded.

Terrible development! I was a loyal regular customer for years and recommended the CL to many people (as a city guide, TO A LOT!) After a year of not being in Muc, I finally went again at the end of November 2024. But what happened? * Salad: €3 more - extremely fewer ingredients * Pizza: €4 more, 30% smaller * The water, which used to always have a very special taste and was from a good company (we specifically asked for the bottle so we could buy it), was now just normal water * the Greek salt came WITHOUT: delicious bread, egg and pepperoni, LOTS OF VENIGER: tomato, cucumber and HARDLY ANY carrot and dressing (had to get oil/vinegar from the next table) * the plate of the salad was super unappetizing: it had a gray-green pattern. I was shocked at first because I thought it was mold. who designs something like that? I went over with the napkin and tried to wipe it off, but then I saw that it was burnt paint * the pizza came unprompted on 2 plates and the halves were tiny. The pizza used to be bigger than the plate. When I said, "Oh, already shared!", the waiter said, "Yes, because the table is so small!" Uh... 2 plates for the pizza plus 1 plate for the salad => 3 plates. Doesn't it make more sense to serve the pizza on ONE plate? Oh no...then the guest notices that it is now 30% smaller. * The pizzas on the next tables were a little larger, but not like they used to be. Maybe we just got ripped off because we were there with Schlemmerblock?! We used to come with it too and everything was always the normal size/number. The CL now has small portions, high prices and normal taste - so it's nothing special anymore. The size used to be AWESOME compared to the price and location! Now you can get something bigger and cheaper somewhere else!

This is the second time I've been to the City Lounge and I'm still impressed, great atmosphere, nice service, delicious pizzas and appetizers. A big compliment to the entire team!

Waited for 30-40 minutes for service before I left

We were here today with the Schlemmerblock and ordered a pizza and pasta. The pizza was very large and tasted great too. The pasta was okay, but unfortunately there was very little parmesan on it and you didn't get any extra cheese. The local itself was very crowded and also very loud. On the one hand through the guests and on the other hand through the music. That was rather annoying because it wasn't in the direction of the bar (where the music is a bit more in the foreground), but was just annoying. There were also 3 women sitting in front of the toilets who wanted money, which made the situation a bit uncomfortable. Price-performance was generally okay

Walking distance to metro and tourist areas. Mushroom pizza was very delicious. They have caring and friendly service staff, it can be very busy on Friday evenings.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place in any way. The Caesar salad only had the name Caesar. There was also too much fat(. The lasagna didn't arouse any positive feelings either. Our first visit to a restaurant in Munich. Well worth it. We booked online just in case it was busy. It was a Sunday evening, so as you can imagine, it wasn't busy. We ordered drinks and food which came to the table soon after. The food that was served, pizza, pasta and pork schnitzel tasted great and massive portions. One small niggle was the fries were too salty but apart from that fantastic and at a little over €100 for four people a good price. The server was polite, prompt and well presented. Customer toilets are to the rear downstairs, these were clean and tidy.

We went here today for dinner before our visit to the German Theater. The food was excellent. We had a mixed salad, Orecchiette di Manzo al Limone, Tagliatelle al Salmone and Pizza Diavola. All highly recommended. The employees were all very friendly and the service was attentive. We'll definitely be back.

We complained about this and the waiter wanted me to be a learned *chef/pizza maker In Italy* explain that the pizza is so normal/original 🫣, We also ordered a ravioli with truffle sauce that was garnished with croutons and sprouts?!?!? Inedible... Despite the complaint, we paid the full amount. The main thing is that the store is full, the rest doesn't matter. Money rip-off. Only for tourists.
