Chupenga in Berlin

Great food, moderate prices and nice staff. The viaduct's furnishings are a bit too futuristic and cold, but I can live with that...

The blandest veggie food I have eaten in a long time, and for a restaurant that claims to be Mexican that's a cardinal sin. I wanted to try the quesadillas but they are not available before 15 (why???). The tacos was a bowl with flavourless beans, rice, soya mince, cold cheese, and some lukewarm tacos separate in a wrap that wouldn't melt the cheese. You are supposed to assemble them yourself in a taco (if you are not too familiar with mexican food you are on your own there). You may as well go to Edeka and get the ingredients there and do it yourself. The ambience is the same as McDonald's, without the teenagers. Don't see the point of this restaurant to be honest.

Well where do we start. First of all, the positive: The shop is well located right next to the Friedrichstrasse train station, therefore very easy to reach (but I'll say upfront: it's not worth a long journey here) Furthermore, the taste of the salad, which seemed very fresh, and that of the rice and the black beans can be noted positively. The medium hot sauce I chose wasn't bad either. Unfortunately, the positive ends here. The chicken was cold, not lukewarm it was really cold. The tacos are far too thin, so you have to rely on a knife and fork. The staff seemed very stressed and you can only pay by card (I don't include that in my review). The entire ambience made the Chupenga seem less like a restaurant and more like a cheap fast food chain due to its perceived mass processing (unfortunately it is not cheap). Here quantity is more important than quality and you can taste it too. I don't recommend Chupenga.

Mega store with very good food!

Love Chupenga since day one. Fresh Mexican-inspired bowls, burritos and tacos packed with the most delicious meats, rotisserie chicken or veggie proteins. Their quinoa, lentils, and salsas over salad and their fresh salsas are mind boggling delicious! Also a big fan of their water and lemonade fountains. You can pick and choose whatever you feel like. Don’t forget to add some homemade guacamole. Yum!

Burrito was nice, bit pricy but you get a lot :)

Great selection, soy mince significantly cheaper than barbacoa and pollo. But: Since when has a burrito been served cold? Relatively expensive. Basic. Quite okay...

Very tasty food that you can put together yourself from various options. It's just a bit expensive for "fast food", so you can't enjoy it too often as a student.

This restaurant made me gasp when i saw the food. When i tasted a delicious series of flavours it ran through my mouth. If you never tasted a burrito this is the best place to start. And the employes was nice and good at what they were doing.

I've never eaten there before, but I eat the bowls there at least once a week, so I can really recommend them :)

Staff doesn't speak German. Absolutely weak for a restaurant in the federal capital. Ambience seemed rather spartan and cool. Not a real nice atmosphere. Tables partly unclean.

It's ok if you're in the area and need to fill your stomach with vegan food, but compared to Dolores, both when it comes to price and esp. when it comes to flavor, this place trails behind. The taste is solid, but pretty bland overall. My burrito was quite big, but I had loaded it with most of the extra ingredients, which came down to about 15€. Really nice staff though!

It got too expensive and they ask for a tip at payment machine where you literally queue standing waiting to be served.

Burritos are delicious and staff is nice. Around 12 p.m. it can get full very quickly during the week. Only card payment is possible, which is also good.

I know Chupenga from the Gendarmenmarkt. I really like Chupenga's burritos 🌯 and tacos 🌮. Prices have risen here too, but all in all it's still the perfect place for lunch. If you sponsor your service staff a basic German course so that as a customer with their own migration history (Southeastern Europe) you can also order in German without always having to switch to English, you will get 5 stars and a tip for the service staff 💸

Base price is now at 11.90€ with actual bowl size varying depending on who is currently serving you. So you may end up with 1/3 less. The food is still good though. Employees may not understand German but won't tell you. So you have to try figuring out why they do the wrong thing (takeout yes/no).

Nice employee, but the burrito was just average, and with a cola it was almost 15€. Please roll burritos in aluminium, otherwise of it's not rolled tightly it was just fall over the place, which was my case.

Lovely lunch place, very filling and healthy.

Probably not very authentic, but I still think it's delicious. I particularly like the fact that there is a vegetarian option with lots of vegetables and also many other vegetarian meat alternatives. Ambiance isn't a highlight, but that's just not the concept. In return you get a quick, tasty lunch.

Very nice and cozy spot that can get you out of a craving for Tex-Mex food. When you're looking for something tasty and not to expensive you should definetly come here. Their variety of ingredients and their chipotle-like way of serving definetly make it a worth-it experience. Would love to come back some other time.

Went there with a friend. We ordered the same exact burrito, however one was half of the size of the other. So I ended up paying 10,90€ for a dry, cold and small burrito. When I confronted the workers about it, they reacted in a snobby non understanding way and told me it was merely the way it was wrapped. Even though it was obvious that one was much smaller. If I could give 0 stars I would. I recommend mishba though. It’s 1 minute away, cheaper and tastes much better :)

Schließen um acht. Ab halb sieben werden direkt neben einem die Stühle hoch gestellt. Alles sehr lieblos. Service in english. Guacamole schmeckt trotzdem.

German Chipotle. If imitation is the highest form of flattery, the shamelessness of copying the American concept is admirable. Even down to the stainless steel menus behind the register.

Es gibt hier mehr oder weniger nur ein Essen: Alles wird nach dem Baukastensystem zusammengestellt, am Ende sehen alle Teller gleich aus und schmecken auch fast gleich. Service gibt es so eigentlich nicht, da Selbstbedienung wie bei McDonald's. Ambiente ok.

Essen war lecker, aber auch nichts wirklich besonderes. 4/5 Der Service war nett und konnte gut weiter helfen. 5/5 Ambiente erinnert eher an eine Schulkantine. 3/5 Alles in allem, kann man mal machen, aber durch die Lage minimal höherpreisig im Vergleich zu anderen Lokalitäten dieser Art.

More expensive and inferior to Dolores

Perfekt für Lunch. Ich hatte die Bowl mit Chicken. Das Chicken war super saftig und auch die Zutaten waren sehr frisch. Für die Guacamole muss man extra 2 Euro Zahlen, was das Mittagessen Preislich in die Höhe treibt. Das Ambiente ist nichts für ein Abendessen.

Die Empanadas schmeckten gut, Inhalt kann individuell zusammengestellt werden. Das Personal spricht nur gebrochen deutsch. Der Gastraum wirkt wie ein Wartesaal oder eine Schulküche. Länger bleiben als nötig wünscht man sich nicht.

Lovely find if you feel hungry and are around Friedrichstraße station. Nice and small menu offered whilst ordering at the bar. Good combination of fillings and variations from salad to burrito and tapas. Never ending lemonade for €2 and free water also on offer. Easily recommended.

It is a solid 4 of out 5. Suitable for quick and healthy lunch. I tried a salad bowl. The salad leaves could have been fresher, the chicken was really flavourful and juicy (not just chicken breast, more like thighs). The sourcream was fatty and rich, cheese was OK, the guacamole was tasty (you pay extra for it, 2 euros, it could cost a little less in my opinion). The salsa was good and refreshing. The workers are nice but of course overloaded during lunchtime. I liked the open space and open kitchen, lots of air in the sitting area.

We've been coming here for lunch really often. One day they decided to not give spoons. Apparently you are only allowed to eat a bowl with a fork and a knife. The staff were very rude and they claimed they would never give spoons as if that's a sin and I was lying about the 20 times they did before. Never going back again

Die Burritos sind wirklich gut. Hilfreicher Hinweis, dass Tacos selbst gebaut werden müssen. Sie nehmen aber keine zwei edenred Essensgutscheine - dafür gab es einen abschätziger Blick. Schade dass in einem eher teuren Laden da kein Entgegenkommen noch Verständnis war.

Every day portions are being smaller and smaller, and they are introducing ridiculous rules of what you can combine for free or what you need to pay extra. I was one of the most loyal guests from day one when they have opened this restaurant. This used to be a place where portions were good and you could customise them however you liked for decent price. Now the price is ridiculous and portions are small.

Es wäre schön, wenn diese Filiale mal wieder die Onlinevorbestellung freischalten würde! Erst beim Bezahlvorgang merkt man, dass Onlinevorbestellung wohl gerade nicht möglich ist. Super. Kam in letzter Zeit vermehrt vor. Ich habe also 5 Minuten sinnlos vorbestellt bzw. es versucht und stehe dann nochmal 5 Minuten an, um alles erneut vorzutragen. Nicht gut.

uncomfortable seats, quick but stern cantina style service, food that would be a stretch to be called mexican. the "hot" salsa is very mild, the meat was not of the best quality with uncooked pieces of fat still in it and the tortillas are of course store bought. You could tell the food is watered down for the "european palette" but if you get rid of all the spice, all the salsas and marinated meats what you are left with is a glorified bland gyros. Seating are uncomfortable wooden chairs and service is fast casual. very common on the street(friedrich) but it'd be great if they got rid of the school cafeteria service vibe.

The food was delicious 😊 My burrito was so fully packed that there was no chance of it maintaining its shape. The place was sadly a little out of hand, there were disheveled tables the whole duration of our meal and the clean up station was super overflowing, that multiple people placed there dirty dishes on the tables surrounding the dirty dish cart.

Sehr leckere Burritos mit toller Auswahl an Zutaten! War sehr lecker und die Atmosphäre hat auch gepasst

Die Portionen (Burritos) sind groß und das Essen insgesamt schmeckt. Das Essen wird am Tresen direkt nach Auswahl zubereitet. Für den Preis sind die Burritos mächtig und wirklich sättigend. Leider war meiner schlecht gerollt und fiel auseinander. Die Dame hinter dem Tresen war sowieso wenig motiviert und sprach sehr leise bei der vorhanden Lautstärke, welche mich aber im Prinzip gar nicht gestört hat. Getränke kann man sich so oft man möchte nachfüllen. Tische werden nicht oft abgewischt durch das Personal. Ansonsten ist die Atmosphäre locker. Ich esse dort öfter mal etwas zum Mittag und der Preis ist insgesamt stimmig zum Selbstbedienungskonzept.

Ein Laden für Touristen. Relativ teuer. Das Fleisch war kalt. Das Ambiente ist kühl und leer. Uns hat es nicht gefallen.

Chipotle-like restaurant with authentic texmex food. Servers are impressively fast and friendly even at rush hour. Food is always in the point. No wonder is busy at lunch time. Definitely a must in the quest for texmex or Calico.

Ordered a burrito from Wolt - it arrived freezing cold, with limp lettuce and rubbery chicken. The food is totally flavourless.
