Christiansens "Mocca-Stuben" in Cuxhaven

My wife and I visited the restaurant "Tohuus by CHRISTIANSEN" completely unprepared and without any particular expectations. We both enjoyed the food and drinks. The service staff was very friendly. We have no complaints. We would gladly go back!

Super friendly staff, the food was really delicious, reasonably priced, and the portions were generous. The atmosphere is also very pleasant. I highly recommend the fish dishes. I ate there several times during my vacation. The only thing is that you can't make reservations. This is only for hotel guests, but it's not really a problem during the off-season.

The councilman's plate with three pork medallions had very little hollandaise sauce.... What I found even worse was that the mushrooms were from a can, so they had a rather bland taste and tasted like they were boiled rather than braised. My husband's fish dish was okay, and the waitress was friendly.

Unfortunately, it's a bit too noisy to eat in the winter garden, right by the street. But the rest is simply superb.

This is our second time in Duhnen and we're staying at Christiansen's accommodations again. The food here is very good, although the dishes are prepared a little differently than you'd expect. The portions are huge. The prices are very reasonable for these large portions. The ambiance is modern, and the service is friendly. It lacks a bit of a cozy feel, as it's always packed and a seat seems to have been conjured up from every corner. Nevertheless, we already have our next appointment there! We'll be back this year! The food hasn't changed, nor has the service or ambiance. Everything is perfect, and we're looking forward to next year.

This should be an insider tip. Located right in the center of town by the fountain and surrounded by many restaurants, it has a lot of unique features. We each ordered a pilot's plate with crab and plenty of fish. For €20, one of the more expensive dishes was simply fantastic. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be back.

The "Chef's Style" salad was just leaf lettuce with a few seeds, three tomatoes, and very little feta cheese. You could also ask for dressing. At €14.50, it wasn't exactly good value for money.

The fish I had was excellent, but unfortunately, some of my fried potatoes were still raw, and I mentioned it. The waiter said he wanted to pass them on. Unfortunately, there was no Aperol, which I love. Our seat was very inconvenient; every time the door opened, there was a draft. Unfortunately, there were no other seats available.

The fish had no flavor at all and wasn't cooked properly. The remoulade looked like it had been sitting in the heat for a while. I was offered a new dish, but I'd lost my appetite. Unfortunately, it wasn't good at all 😞

The Jägerschnitzel was a ready-made product with breadcrumbs. The mushrooms that accompanied the schnitzel and the pork fillet were from a can. I was seriously shocked. The waitress only shrugged as justification. There are other options that can handle this more professionally. Never again. I can only warn everyone.

Beautiful new decor and very nice gentlemen who served us. The salad was a bit boring; it deserved more variety, and the dressing also came from a bottle. Unfortunately, only small bottles of water were available.

All in all highly recommended, but you don't always get a table

Christiansen has been my go-to place for 12 years; the food and service have always been excellent. Now I'm not allowed to use a four-seater table for two people, even though two-thirds of the tables were free. I understand this during the season, but not when almost all the tables are free. As a guest, I want to sit where I feel comfortable and not be assigned a seat like at school. Then we went to Metschers, where they don't assign you a seat. Maybe they should be more sensitive.

Can't complain. At peak times, without a reservation, we could have had the last available table for two inside. Instead, we opted for outside. The food was excellent as usual, and the service was good despite the crowds. We'd be happy to come back.

We have been coming here for years when we vacation in Cuxhaven. The quality of the food is consistently good with a moderate increase in price. The staff is friendly and informative. A must for us to eat delicious food.

Unfortunately, it seems that there is no longer any need to welcome guests in the restaurant. Reservations will not be accepted for fewer than 5 people. Then you just go to the competition. In the Metscher Stube everything is no problem. 🤷

I wanted to reserve a table for Easter Sunday lunchtime, the waiter on the phone wasn't exactly nice or polite and couldn't reserve a table for two people. You don't have to go there if you're treated like that on the phone. And we certainly won't be able to welcome them as guests.

Highly recommended, the staff is very friendly and helpful. If you ask, you can get an allergy card where every food is listed (from a to z). The dishes are incredibly tasty and the portions are enough to fill you up.

When paying €15.40 I said to the gentleman, please make it €17. He then types a €2 tip into the card machine. I didn't find it nice. He was friendly & accommodating. That's why I didn't say anything.

We have eaten here again for over 10 years. It wasn't to our taste at the time, but we thought it was time again. Short and sweet: - family-unfriendly and rigid reservation times: either 5:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. - nothing in between. You also look closely at the clock. So you have 1.5 hours! - As soon as we were eating, everything went off: salad (not yet ready), then the soup came, and the main course was barely ready. Phew… everything had to be finished after 1.5 hours. Short breaks would have been pleasant. - then came the main courses… we (6 people) had 2 x pork loin, something similar and other dishes. The meat was very dry and the mushrooms served with it were from a CAN!!!! That doesn't work at all. After pointing this out when asking if everything was okay,… nothing happened! - Waiter a bit rude, probably didn't understand everything. The bill was paid and we left with the decision: never again Christiansen. There are enough alternatives. Very unfortunate.

Price/performance is absolutely fine. Spaces sometimes too tight. The neighbor hears everything. Food delicious and good portion.

I was in this restaurant a few days ago with my brother and we were happy with the experience. the fish was pretty tasty but most of all we liked the officiant who served us. Such people are sometimes missing in good restaurants, and such people reveal a special pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant. Mr. Jebri💯👌

Food great, price performance ok

I had the Hamburg fish platter and a side salad. The food came to the table quickly and hot, and the portion was completely sufficient even for me as a tall man. And all at fair prices... It was really delicious, the side salad was also great! Everything was equally satisfactory on the second visit! The service was also very friendly! I do have one tiny point of criticism... Both times I felt there wasn't enough of the delicious mustard sauce on the plate. But next time I'll just ask for more when ordering... 😉.

After a long hike we look for a restaurant. All hardly attended - but the hustle and bustle was packed. We share a table for 6 with another couple, so seating was very flexible. The dishes we ordered came quickly and were quite tasty. Gladly again.

The waiter's reaction to our polite question (when a table would be free and whether we could order some warm food shortly before 2 p.m. / according to the menu until 2 p.m.) was extremely rude. Unfortunately there was no apology. We have never experienced anything like this!

We eat here every time we are in Duhnen, the new ambience is very nice... and of course the food was excellent... the only thing that is a shame is that you can no longer reserve a table if you are not a house guest..

Good afternoon, dear readers. We spontaneously went to the restaurant again on February 21, 2025 from 7 p.m Tohoo. We had the pilot plate and councilor plate. Both well made and delicious. So we enjoyed dinner again. In my opinion, the prices are absolutely appropriate. The drinks prices are also within the current average. We were pleased that the staff was here. It was also friendly and accommodating as usual. All in all: We would love to come back, dear Christiansen family.

I can fully recommend the restaurant. We sat very well, you can also sit by the window. The dishes that we have been served so far have all been very good in terms of appearance and taste. This was my second time here after the restaurant was renovated. The conversion was successful. It looks beautiful. I ate the “Altona” fish platter with fried wolffish and pollock fillets. There was also a salad. The fish was good. But for the second time I was served these completely disgusting (sometimes burnt) fried potatoes. Now of course you can say that it's all a matter of taste, and I also saw a woman within my sight have the exact same dish and eat it completely. But the behavior of this woman with the red glasses (short white/blonde hair) is what made me give a bad rating. While I was still eating, this woman passed by and briefly tilted the plate (on which the napkin was lying for me) towards me so that the napkin could slide onto the table and she could take the plate with her. And that without even saying a word. Dear Christiansen family: Are these plates really in such short supply that they have to be taken away from the guest before he has even finished eating? Even if this is not a gourmet restaurant, something like that is totally rude to the guest! Not to mention the fact that this woman is in a really bad mood. We stopped here while visiting Cuxhaven. The food is fantastic. Very moderate prices. The condition is very attentive and accommodating. We went there twice in a row. We can highly recommend this restaurant.

If the restaurant were in the middle of Germany away from the sea, it might be a good restaurant to eat fish. But it's just one of many. The dishes are solid home cooking, but somewhat unimaginative and unimaginative mainstream dishes that you can get pretty much anywhere on the coast. The taste is okay, but you could do more with what's on offer. So it's nothing special. The atmosphere is ok, the service staff are friendly.

The food was good!! But for me personally, there were too many dogs in the restaurant. 9 dogs!!!! And in rainy weather, you know what it smells like. It's a shame, that was definitely too many dogs for me!!!

First time in Tohuus and I didn't regret it. The menu has something for every taste and if not, you can also change dishes to suit your taste, such as vegetarian meals. The food was really very good, the service was very friendly. A restaurant that I would love to visit again.

I stayed at TOHUUS several times (you could say often) during my 3 vacations and was never disappointed. The food is plentiful and the prices are great. The illustrated cutter plaice v. d. Day ticket €18.80 and the basil pesto with tomatoes, leek ripes, Black Tiger giant prawns, parmesan shavings and parsley for just €17.90 - and there were a lot of shrimp (in 2024). The service is very attentive and also small . Special requests (a little more sauce or parmesan) were accommodated without any additional charges. Costs met promptly. I'm already looking forward to 2025.

We went to Tohuus in Duhnen for dinner today. The food was super tasty. Huge portions at good prices. The service was great, especially Mr. Sha was always there to ask about satisfaction and refills. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Food looks very tasty, but we received the 6 dishes we ordered within 14 minutes, so you can imagine what kind of food is served there. Plates are full to the brim, probably to compensate for the lack of quality. The store makes hot food quicker than McDonalds, fish doesn't taste like anything, meat doesn't taste particularly good, and the rest is most likely frozen food. On the subject of ambience: The shop is comfortably furnished. The surroundings are nice, but I could observe how flies had gathered around the lamps over several tables. You find this rather annoying when eating, especially in a restaurant advertised with 4.2 stars on Google

We had a delicious meal here at a reasonable price. My fish plate was rich, 3 different types of delicious fried fish, plus a small shrimp skewer with garlic mayonnaise, fried potatoes and salad. My husband's rump steak was tender and delicious. The service was quick and friendly, gladly again.

What happened to Christiansen's mocha shop? Feeding in a confined space!! In the winter garden (middle aisle) you have to be careful that other guests don't clear the table, which is much too small, as they pass by. In the restaurant, if you come with two people, you will be asked to leave an empty four-person table, even though there are other tables available, and to take a seat at a two-person table - if there is one. Otherwise you will have to leave the restaurant no matter what , although tables for 4 people are available. We, who have been coming to Duhnen for over 10 years, are very disappointed by this development. We will react accordingly!

The service leaves a lot to be desired. Unfortunately there was a medical emergency in the restaurant, where we asked for an emergency service and after the chef had reassured himself, the RTW was also called. When we asked, we were served. You were treated very carelessly and condescendingly by the waitress. But the food was very tasty and plentiful. You consider whether you should give yourself this treatment again.

Tohuus Restaurant is an excellent choice for a dining experience. Depending on the time, reserving a table can be a challenge, but it's worth the wait. We were looking forward to a crab soup and received it a short time later, unfortunately without crabs. When we asked why the crabs were missing from my crab soup, the waiter replied, sorry, they had been forgotten... how can you forget something like that? It was cheeky that you still had to pay for the soup....Never experienced anything like that....never again, not recommended. The guests across from us also had a similar situation and wanted to pay quickly...

Had dinner there in the evening. It was crowded and very narrow. Fish fried to death and slightly shredded. But you could eat. Fried potatoes were good. With 5 people without a reservation, we got a table despite the restaurant being full. Not only was the food prepared super quickly, it was also super tasty. Very friendly staff, a compliment to the kitchen, we have rarely been served such well-prepared fish. Another visit will undoubtedly follow.
