Very friendly service; the food was served appetizingly, attractively, and at the right temperature. A cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger.

After my fourth visit to Duhnen, I returned to the tohuus this year (2025). Six days out of seven, and I have to say it was very good again. The waiters were all very friendly, accommodating, and even had a joke or two up their sleeves. As has often been criticized here, the fried potatoes are too crispy—no, they are just right and tasty. The portions are generous, and even a dish "for the elderly" is filling. Particularly noteworthy is the dish 539 basil pesto with black tiger prawns for €18.50. Here, the approximately 15 prawns didn't just walk past the plate, but landed on it. There was so much that I couldn't finish it all. They even offered to pack the rest for me. What more could you want? The tarte flambée with salmon (€12.90) actually had more salmon than expected (I've had different experiences). All the other dishes (including the daily specials) were also nothing to complain about. The noise level is manageable, depending on the number of guests. It's easy to have a good conversation. However, there are always people everywhere who have to talk loudly. Okay, the chairs could be cleaned, and they're only reserved for hotel guests—so what? Then you just wait (it's vacation). What's the big deal? Conclusion: I highly recommend it and will be back in 2026.

Very nice ambiance. Very comfortable seats. The service was very attentive and quick. I also found the steak very tasty. I just found the ready-made fries bland and too light. Wedges or homemade fries would have been better.

Schnitzel hunter's style? Jelly-like sauce and canned mushrooms! Chip shop is tastier! Service (waiters) were really attentive and very friendly.

We always enjoyed eating at the Mokka Stube, but we can't understand what's happened now. 😞 It's called "Toohuus," but they play oriental background music...it doesn't fit! The quality of the food has declined considerably, and the customer service leaves a lot to be desired! It's just a mass-processing operation! As many people as possible come in and then quickly leave again! This was definitely our last time there!

We wanted to make a reservation for dinner at lunchtime. But it's not for walk-in customers. When we finally arrived at 7:00 p.m., we had to wait for a free table. This one was in the completely overheated conservatory. The quality of the food matches the price, which is reasonable. The food was okay, but nothing special. It's more geared toward mass service. Also, the tables are very close together. However, the service was very friendly, and the food was served very quickly, even though it was very busy.

The food was very tasty, or rather, we had coffee and cake. The cake was delicious, very freshly made. The cake + coffee offer for 7.99 was great. However, the coffee was a bit too strong for all four of us, but the taste was very good.

Every visit to Cux means a visit to this restaurant! Fish platter with mustard sauce and fried potatoes – simply WOW! Price-performance ratio has always been absolutely perfect, but today's visit was a bit smaller in terms of portion size. Actually, it's a nice restaurant. We went to this restaurant three days in a row. The first two days we were very satisfied with the service and the food; everything was great! On the third day, we had a server who was completely unacceptable! As soon as he came to our table, he seemed very stressed and annoyed, even though there wasn't much to do! I placed my order first, or rather, wanted to place it, but in the middle of it, he asked my companion for her order. Since I wasn't finished, I continued talking. I found that pretty cheeky!! My companion ordered a currywurst with fries, but the currywurst was supposed to come without curry and ketchup, but with mustard. So, it wasn't difficult!! When we finally got our orders, my companion got a currywurst with fries, which she didn't want! So we called the server and wanted to complain about the meal, since that wasn't what we had ordered! The colleague was very friendly and helpful, then the service employee who took the order came over and snatched the plate out of his colleague's hand and hissed at us that we had ordered it that way, which was not the case! After a lot of back and forth, my companion then took the food as it was and that was it! This employee was very rude, I can only say! To top it off, when I wanted to pay, I gave the unfriendly service employee a €100 note and I had to pay €36.40. The service employee then said I had given him €50 and made a fuss, then he said, "Well, help me, what are you getting back?" I thought that couldn't be right. The other guests were already looking at me and it made me very uncomfortable, and so was my companion! Well, I then gave the service employee the €6.40 and insisted on my €70 change. The best part was that everyone at the table was asked if everything was satisfactory, but we were ignored. Unbelievably, we didn't eat there again. I always find it a shame that the other staff always suffer at the hands of colleagues like that, because a single employee can give the service a bad review.

We spent two weeks in Duhnen and ate at Tohuus every day. The food was always delicious, and we really liked the daily specials. Our requests for different side dishes were accommodated every time. The service staff were very friendly and accommodating. Since my wife has a walking disability, she was treated very courteously. They adjusted her chair and positioned her walker so that it wouldn't bother anyone. In contrast to a woman who usually stood behind the counter. We were sitting at a table for four and she very rudely told us to find a table for two. The restaurant wasn't full at the time. She saw that my wife has a disability. We cleared the table; we didn't want any trouble. It was a procedure for my wife because she couldn't walk through the rows of tables with her walker because it was very narrow where the table for two was. I would also like to point out that some of the chair cushions were covered in large stains. That shouldn't happen in a restaurant. If the lady is so meticulous about the seating arrangements, she should also make sure the chairs/armchairs are clean. Nevertheless, we rate Tuhuus highly, as everything else was perfect.

We ordered three different types of fish with parsley potatoes. The potatoes were hard and dry, but the breading on the fish was mushy, and all three different types of fish tasted the same. That couldn't be right, was the only comment from the curt waiter, after all, the potatoes were cooked in a water bath. Massive feeding

We had dinner there yesterday on our first day in the vacation apartment. Unfortunately, we didn't read the notice about how long hot meals were served. Nice atmosphere, unfortunately with a fast-food feel. The service was attentive, but unfortunately, coordination wasn't working out, and the staff seemed very irritated overall. The children's menu seemed uninspired and lacked any side dishes. Furthermore, the children's dishes arrived considerably later than the other dishes.

There were four of us there, and my wife and I were satisfied. Our friends weren't. She had a tarte flambée that was served cold and the onions were burnt. After complaining, she was served a new tarte flambée, which was perfectly fine. My friend didn't like his meal. Oh well. The staff were very attentive. The only negative was that Labskaus was on the menu, and they were out of Labskaus for four weeks. That's how you lure customers in. We won't go there anymore.

Today, we spontaneously stopped in here with friends at 7:40 p.m. Despite the hour and the restaurant being full, we were still able to get a seat and order. We had three kinds of fish with fried potatoes, and I ordered some vegetables. The service was super friendly and the food was amazing. We live near a fishing village and have several fish restaurants to compare it to, so we know what fish is all about. This one was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were Mediterranean, but the taste was top-notch. The price-performance ratio is even better than at the fish restaurants here. We felt very comfortable and appreciated. We're already planning another visit. Thanks for the great evening.

Delicious food for a fair price.

We were looking forward to the crab bisque, a floury cheese soup with a small crab garnish. The main courses consisted of what I thought was frozen fish with freezer burn. The smoked salmon was reminiscent of a convenience store product.

We were on a day trip to Cuxhaven/Duhnen and were hungry for fish. Since the menu appealed to us and the restaurant wasn't that busy, we found a table. We ordered pollock fillet with fried potatoes, the Arctic Ocean platter, the Hamburg fish platter, and the schnitzel with hollandaise sauce. The food was prepared quickly and freshly. The taste left nothing to be desired. Everything was well-seasoned, and the portion size was reasonable for the price. There were no bones like in other restaurants. The only drawback is that drinks are only available in 0.2 and 0.4 liters. We would definitely eat here again if we were in Duhnen.

During our North Sea vacation this year, we ate at the Tohuus restaurant twice and were very satisfied both times. The food was delicious, the white wine wonderful, and the service friendly and child-friendly. I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get a high chair (I think it should be a given in restaurants that children's chairs are brought to the table without having to ask – but unfortunately, it often isn't), but otherwise, we all had a very good time, and our son wanted to go back again because he enjoyed the tarte flambée so much. The value for money is excellent here.

The food isn't anything extraordinary, but we enjoyed it. Many people come with children; we've been here several times with our two grandchildren (7 and 5 years old), but the children's dishes on offer are ridiculous; they still need improvement, as they wouldn't fill a 7-year-old up. All in all, it's pretty average.

We ate there on vacation because we thought I'd get crab. Yes, but I only thought that. I had to choose something else, and since I'm intolerant to garlic, there wasn't much left, but that's not the restaurant's fault. FYI, as to why I didn't get my crab dish, you can make 10 other dishes with crab as a side dish for my dish. There is/was apparently a crab crisis. I mean, we'd already read that there was a daily price regulation for crab dishes, and we were aware of that, but it didn't matter. The food itself didn't taste great either, so we certainly wouldn't go there again. It's more of a tourist restaurant.

A typical "tourist restaurant." The food is okay, but nothing special. The decor seems modern; for my taste, some of the tables are too close together and could be larger in places, but that's probably how it's supposed to be to accommodate as many paying guests as possible in as little time as possible. The service was good, although the staff seemed to be in a tunnel and didn't always respond to what was being said.

I ate there several times during my vacation. The only thing is that you can't make reservations. This is only for hotel guests, but it's not really a problem during the off-season.

My wife and I visited the restaurant "Tohuus by CHRISTIANSEN" completely unprepared and without any particular expectations. We both enjoyed the food and drinks. The service staff was very friendly. We have no complaints. We would gladly go back!

The councilman's plate with three pork medallions had very little hollandaise sauce.... What I found even worse was that the mushrooms were from a can, so they had a rather bland taste and tasted like they were boiled rather than braised. My husband's fish dish was okay, and the waitress was friendly.

Unfortunately, it's a bit too noisy to eat in the winter garden, right by the street. But the rest is simply superb.

This is our second time in Duhnen and we're staying at Christiansen's accommodations again. The food here is very good, although the dishes are prepared a little differently than you'd expect. The portions are huge. The prices are very reasonable for these large portions. The ambiance is modern, and the service is friendly. It lacks a bit of a cozy feel, as it's always packed and a seat seems to have been conjured up from every corner. Nevertheless, we already have our next appointment there! We'll be back this year! The food hasn't changed, nor has the service or ambiance. Everything is perfect, and we're looking forward to next year.

This should be an insider tip. Located right in the center of town by the fountain and surrounded by many restaurants, it has a lot of unique features. We each ordered a pilot's plate with crab and plenty of fish. For €20, one of the more expensive dishes was simply fantastic. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be back.

The fish I had was excellent, but unfortunately, some of my fried potatoes were still raw, and I mentioned it. The waiter said he wanted to pass them on. Unfortunately, there was no Aperol, which I love. Our seat was very inconvenient; every time the door opened, there was a draft. Unfortunately, there were no other seats available.

The "Chef's Style" salad was just leaf lettuce with a few seeds, three tomatoes, and very little feta cheese. You could also ask for dressing. At €14.50, it wasn't exactly good value for money.

The fish had no flavor at all and wasn't cooked properly. The remoulade looked like it had been sitting in the heat for a while. I was offered a new dish, but I'd lost my appetite. Unfortunately, it wasn't good at all 😞

The Jägerschnitzel was a ready-made product with breadcrumbs. The mushrooms that accompanied the schnitzel and the pork fillet were from a can. I was seriously shocked. The waitress only shrugged as justification. There are other options that can handle this more professionally. Never again. I can only warn everyone.

Beautiful new decor and very nice gentlemen who served us. The salad was a bit boring; it deserved more variety, and the dressing also came from a bottle. Unfortunately, only small bottles of water were available.

Christiansen has been my go-to place for 12 years; the food and service have always been excellent. Now I'm not allowed to use a four-seater table for two people, even though two-thirds of the tables were free. I understand this during the season, but not when almost all the tables are free. As a guest, I want to sit where I feel comfortable and not be assigned a seat like at school. Then we went to Metschers, where they don't assign you a seat. Maybe they should be more sensitive.

We have been coming here for years when we vacation in Cuxhaven. The quality of the food is consistently good with a moderate increase in price. The staff is friendly and informative. A must for us to eat delicious food.

I wanted to reserve a table for Easter Sunday lunchtime, the waiter on the phone wasn't exactly nice or polite and couldn't reserve a table for two people. You don't have to go there if you're treated like that on the phone. And we certainly won't be able to welcome them as guests.

Unfortunately, it seems that there is no longer any need to welcome guests in the restaurant. Reservations will not be accepted for fewer than 5 people. Then you just go to the competition. In the Metscher Stube everything is no problem. 🤷

Highly recommended, the staff is very friendly and helpful. If you ask, you can get an allergy card where every food is listed (from a to z). The dishes are incredibly tasty and the portions are enough to fill you up.

When paying €15.40 I said to the gentleman, please make it €17. He then types a €2 tip into the card machine. I didn't find it nice. He was friendly & accommodating. That's why I didn't say anything.

We have eaten here again for over 10 years. It wasn't to our taste at the time, but we thought it was time again. Short and sweet: - family-unfriendly and rigid reservation times: either 5:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. - nothing in between. You also look closely at the clock. So you have 1.5 hours! - As soon as we were eating, everything went off: salad (not yet ready), then the soup came, and the main course was barely ready. Phew… everything had to be finished after 1.5 hours. Short breaks would have been pleasant. - then came the main courses… we (6 people) had 2 x pork loin, something similar and other dishes. The meat was very dry and the mushrooms served with it were from a CAN!!!! That doesn't work at all. After pointing this out when asking if everything was okay,… nothing happened! - Waiter a bit rude, probably didn't understand everything. The bill was paid and we left with the decision: never again Christiansen. There are enough alternatives. Very unfortunate.

I was in this restaurant a few days ago with my brother and we were happy with the experience. the fish was pretty tasty but most of all we liked the officiant who served us. I had the Hamburg fish platter and a side salad. The food came to the table quickly and hot, and the portion was completely sufficient even for me as a tall man. And all at fair prices... It was really delicious, the side salad was also great! Everything was equally satisfactory on the second visit! The service was also very friendly! I do have one tiny point of criticism... Both times I felt there wasn't enough of the delicious mustard sauce on the plate. But next time I'll just ask for more when ordering... 😉.

After a long hike we look for a restaurant. All hardly attended - but the hustle and bustle was packed. We share a table for 6 with another couple, so seating was very flexible. The dishes we ordered came quickly and were quite tasty. Gladly again.

The waiter's reaction to our polite question (when a table would be free and whether we could order some warm food shortly before 2 p.m. / according to the menu until 2 p.m.) was extremely rude. Unfortunately there was no apology. We have never experienced anything like this!

Good afternoon, dear readers. We spontaneously went to the restaurant again on February 21, 2025 from 7 p.m Tohoo. We had the pilot plate and councilor plate. Both well made and delicious. So we enjoyed dinner again. In my opinion, the prices are absolutely appropriate. The drinks prices are also within the current average. We were pleased that the staff was here. I can fully recommend the restaurant. We sat very well, you can also sit by the window. The dishes that we have been served so far have all been very good in terms of appearance and taste. This was my second time here after the restaurant was renovated. The conversion was successful. It looks beautiful. I ate the “Altona” fish platter with fried wolffish and pollock fillets. There was also a salad. The fish was good. But for the second time I was served these completely disgusting (sometimes burnt) fried potatoes. We stopped here while visiting Cuxhaven. The food is fantastic. Very moderate prices. The condition is very attentive and accommodating. We went there twice in a row. We can highly recommend this restaurant.

If the restaurant were in the middle of Germany away from the sea, it might be a good restaurant to eat fish. But it's just one of many. The dishes are solid home cooking, but somewhat unimaginative and unimaginative mainstream dishes that you can get pretty much anywhere on the coast. The taste is okay, but you could do more with what's on offer. So it's nothing special. The atmosphere is ok, the service staff are friendly.
