Chicano in Trier

Das Restaurant ist ziemlich klein. Wir hatten zum Glück ohne vorherige Reservierung noch 2 Plätze bekommen. Das Essen war super lecker. Alles frisch zubereitet. Selbst die Nachos. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. Nur zu empfehlen. Auch der Service war super.

Unfortunately, customer friendliness is not a priority here. Vouchers are no longer accepted due to company restructuring. There was no accommodation and no apology.

Der Chef akzeptiert die Gutscheine, die er selber ausgestellt hat, nicht mehr. Grund dafür sei die Neugründung der Betreiberfirma und weil er ja dann nur Verlust mache. Der Chef ist aber nach wie vor derselbe. Steuerlich mag das stimmen und sein Recht sein, im Kundenkontakt und auch menschlich ist das wirklich schwach. Über den Ablauf der Gutscheine wäre über Social Media informiert worden, davon ist aber nichts zu sehen. Auf dem Abschiedspost der "alten Firma" ist keine Rede davon. Zudem war zwischen Kauf des Gutscheines und der Umfirmierung ein sehr kurzer Zeitraum, man hätte also auch beim Kauf darauf hinweisen sollen. Viel schlimmer wiegt aber der Umgang mit uns danach, er wurde aufgrund meines Unverständnisses und Nachfrage frech und tätigte mehrere dreiste Aussagen. (u.A. er käme ja auch nicht in meinen Job und würde seine Probleme zu meinen machen) Leider war auch kein Entgegenkommen oder ein Kompromiss seinerseits gewollt, der Wert des Gutscheines waren immerhin 50€ sodass ich mich nun sehr ärgere und trotz mehrfacher vorheriger Besuche diesen Laden mit Sicherheit meiden werde.

Delicious food! Good wine, food prepared with love. Small, nicely decorated. Friendly staff. We will definitely come back when we are in Trier again!

First but definitely not the last time I ate there today!! Great food and as soon as the IT/cash register problems are solved, the rest will work better 😉. Absolute recommendation!!! For me it's currently one of the most creative and best addresses in the entire city!

Came back today after almost a year. The place is not the same. California Burrito and Veggie Burritos were 80-85% fries. Tacos were okay!

It was our first time here and we really liked it. We had to wait a bit, but that wasn't a problem because we were provided with drinks. There is a large selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. We'd love to come back. 😋🤗

Food is nice but staff should revise their approach towards waiting clients. We were first on the waiting list and in the meantime 2 tables were allocated to people who came after us. It wasn’t our first time here, so it’s really disappointing.

The food is very tasty, the decor is stylish, the service is very friendly, but the shop is quite small and you can't make a reservation, so it's not sure whether you'll even get a seat. The opening times aren't ideal either.

An authentic taste of So Cal in Trier! Delicious, authentic Mexican food with excellent VEGAN options (wow!). Very friendly staff, relaxing outdoor patio and hip interior. We were fortunate enough to meet the chef/owner, and what a really kind and interesting guy. We hope to be back in Trier again and if so, this will be our go-to spot. A great experience.

Incredibly delicious and authentic shop with friendly staff. I didn't eat better in Mexico and there were still lots of vegetarian/vegan options. We become regulars.

Food was ok, the Jamaica hibiscus iced tea was very tasty, the side salad was a dream, the burritos and quesadillas were okay (I'm too spoiled for that). The service was very friendly, but it was only when we were paying that we were told that card payments were not possible and that cash would have to be collected from the nearest savings bank machine. That was not nice. A notice beforehand could have prevented this. Unfortunately, sitting outside on the busy street doesn't create a good atmosphere either...

The best Cali-Mex food in western Germany. I recommend the surf & turf burrito!

As an American who loves Mexican food and Tex-Mex, I was very excited to try this. The quesadillas were very delicious. They tasted exactly like Taco Bell and I mean that as a compliment. I love the Bell! But an extra 3€ for “all the salsas…” 🤣 I expected little bowls of salsas to come but it was about 1 small teaspoon of each sauce served on the tips of the quesadilla slices. The Gringo Burrito was really good but about 50% rice. It was also way overpriced considering the very small amount of meat. 12,20 for a mostly-rice burrito with zero sides leaves me speechless. We ordered the Carne Asada Fries as well which, again, were good, but for the small amount of toppings, it, too, was overpriced. The small salad was the only thing with a reasonable price. It was lovingly made with apples, mangoes, strawberries, and more! A perfect salad which was actually quite large for a side salad and only 6€. Reasonable when you consider all the toppings. This is really good fast food, but just too expensive. I wanted to order another drink and a couple tacos to try but we went a very long time without seeing another waiter so I gave up. When he finally came, we found out they only take cash (good that I hadn’t ordered more!). We went through our wallets and pockets and finally scrounged up enough to pay, but they should really put up a sign in the outdoor area or inform customers before ordering. Who has cash anymore since corona? Just tell your customers upon arrival so you don’t have any problems. Also, please understand that my 3-star review is only in regard to the price. The food was quite good, but they can’t survive with those prices. They should at least include beans or rice as a side like Mexican restaurants in the States do. Or maybe even serve the burrito on a bed of lettuce with sour cream. Anything to make the customer feel like they’re not being gouged. Beans and rice or shredded iceberg with a dollop of sour cream is dirt cheap. It wouldn’t hurt their bottom dollar much to offer actual plates of food rather than one item. They might even get by with raising the prices by 1€ each if they added just a bit more to the plate.

As a Mexican myself 🙂, this is probably the only restaurant in my region that makes actually good Mexican food and authentic items. The chef is Mexican himself so that’s more of a reason to come and support this restaurant! The vibe is really nice and the staff is super friendly and always down to talk to you and make you feel welcome. I feel like these other reviews people just write them because they either haven’t been or just want to harm the business which isn’t okay because you’re harming a restaurant that’s actually great service and quality. Oh and the salsa is actually good salsa, not the nasty sweet stuff other “Mexican” restaurants have here.

Wow, I had pretty much given up on authentic Mexican food, here in Germany. When I walked into Chicano, I was immediately greeted and was amazed by the friendly atmosphere. Everyone spoke perfect English, and Debby was absolutely the best waitress. I was surprised how she remembered our names and made small talk throughout our time there. Debby told me the owner/cook was from the San Diego area, which in my opinion has some of the best Mexican food on the planet. I was shocked to see a “California burrito” on the menu, and even more shocked when I saw the correct ingredients listed on their amazing menu. The food was absolutely superb, the service amazing, and the peanut butter pie was to die for. The price is very fair for the amount and quality of food you get & the facility is very clean. COVID standards are adhered too. Lastly, while paying my bill I was greeted by the owner. He’s a great guy who reminded me of home & we had a great conversation. If you want to experience the most authentic Mexican food in Geemany, this is the place to go.... HANDS DOWN! Look no further, this is the spot!

Ausgezeichnet! Geschmacksexplosion...einfach fantastisch! Wir essen bei Ariel und seiner Frau, seit sie mit dem Foodtruck an der Shell Tankstelle standen. Was soll ich sagen, es hat sich nichts geändert...es schmeckt immernoch alles wunderbar und hat gleichbleibende Qualität.

Best Mexican in the area and I haven't had a better one yet! The quality is right and you can tell that there is some knowledge behind it. The tacos also taste like real corn tacos and not a copy! The map is perfectly small - you just don't need anything more. Very very tasty. The service (I've only been there on Sundays) is very friendly and personable! Unfortunately you can't make a reservation, but that's completely ok. We were always on time and got a table. The store is very small, so be quick.

Came in and got lucky to get a seat quickly. Space is very limited and they don’t take reservations. The guy at the front (didn’t catch the name) was super helpful and friendly, and a bit overworked, as it’s a popular spot. Regardless to the above the food came pretty quick and was out of this world! Will come again for sure!

A small Mexican restaurant. The food was very tasty and the service was also very good. The staff was friendly. The space could be a little bigger, there were only five tables or so and you can only pay in cash. But I can definitely recommend it.

We are from Los Angeles and had to try the Tacos. Homemade Tortillas are Amazing. The Asada, Chicken & Fish tacos were Great. Atmosphere & vibe is good. Glad we stopped by to Try this place. Little small inside , however the food & Beers made it all good! Go try this Place if your a True Chicano.

We came across this place while randomly searching for a place to eat.. and we got so lucky. It is one of the best Mexican food we have ever had. We are vegetarians and we loved the veg options. We tried the California burrito, taco and sweet potato fries - all of them were super delicious. The ambience was very cozy and the staff was great.. overall we would definitely like to visit this place again.. 😃

Great South Californian cuisine - probably the best tacos & quesadillas in the Greater Region! Plus, they have a quality tequila selection and desserts to die for! Opening times are a bit unconventional but absolutely worth going by. Book your table ahead of time.

Sehr leckeres Essen mit viel Liebe zum Detail zubereitet. Die Bedienung ist auch wirklich sehr aufmerksam. Wir waren rundum zufrieden. Nur die Sitzmöbel fand ich persönlich etwas ungemütlich.

Zum erstenmal dort gewesen und definitiv nicht das letztemal. Sehr nette Bedienung, gemütliche Atmosphäre und vor allem sehr gutes, authentisches mexicanisches Essen. Alles sehr gut!!

Einen Besuch wert Reservierung eines Tisches im Chicano bringt einige Hürden mit sich, da man zuerst einen Tisch anfragen muss und diesen dann in kurzer Zeit bestätigen muss... Für einen Streetfoood Laden etwas ungewöhnlich. Service und Ambiente waren zufriedenstellend. Die Speisen sind handwerklich gut gemacht, jedoch könnten Tacos und Co. ein wenig mehr Pepp vertragen. Da solch ein Lokal mit mexikanischer Küche in Trier und Umgebung schwer zu finden ist, ist das Chicano dennoch einen Besuch wert.

Bin heute mit meiner Frau und den Kindern da gewesen. Die Atmosphäre ist absolut gut. Das Restaurant selbst klein, gemütlich, persönlich und sehr schön ausgestattet. Die beiden Mädels im Service waren sehr lieb und bemüht. Das Essen war spitze und kam rasend schnell. Super Bier, super Mucke, der Kuchen… einfach spitze.✨👈🏻 Wunschlos zufrieden! Kleiner schnuckeliger Laden im Herzen von Trier. Super freundliche Bedienung. Die Zutaten waren alle sehr frisch. Ich war leider eine halbe Stunde vor Ladenschluss da, trotz allem wurde mir Essen zum mitnehmen angeboten was ich gerne annahm und nicht bereue. Gerne komme ich wieder. Danke dafür. Im Außenbereich gibt es noch eine überdachte Terrasse und einen Essens/Getränkeautomat mit gekühlten Produkten.

Loved the place, the food, the people. You need to make a reservation in advance but totally worth it. Not only their food is top but also the key lime pie was just Wow.

However after half an hour in with starter plates ordered we were told we could no longer order anything more even though the place was more than half empty and we had not ordered much to start. No food. No drinks. The service ended after that one order. The waitress simply ignored our empty glasses and attemps to call her over. When she finally came over, an hour into our 2 hour reservation, asking us to pay. We asked why we were not being allowed to continue ordering anything as we still had an hour on our reservation. Not even drinks. She and the bartender immediately became extremely rude stating they were simply too busy with to go orders and the reservations that would come later. We expressed that it should be put in writing somewhere so that customers would know you can only order once and that to go orders and future reservations take presidence over those who are present at their reservation time. The waitress and bartender were unconcerned that our experience was so bad that we would not be coming back. Since we were still hungry we went to Quesadillas which was great!! Chucanos staff could take note on professionalism and customer service.

While the food is amazing, the service and the overall organization is terrible. We've been here several times, and always had a good experience, but this last visit was enough to put us off ever coming back again. We made a reservation two months in advance. We were a party of four, arrived 15 minutes early, and ordered immediately upon being seated at 5:15pm. Thirty minutes into our 2 hour reservation, we asked for a few more tacos and were told the kitchen was too busy and would not allow us to order any more food. (Despite the fact several tables, both inside and outside, were empty) The waitress then preceded to completely ignore us, and our empty glasses, until we gave up and left roughly an hour into our reservation. Before paying, we told the waitress that they really should inform their customers when they order that they will not be allowed to order anything else. She very rudely shoved the menu at us and said, "We put it on the menu." However, what she showed us said, and I quote, "Food comes all at one time." That merely implies that appetizers will come at the same time as the main meal, NOT that you will only be allowed to order one time. When we said, "that's not what that means," the bartender, who is also the chef's girlfriend, jumped in and said it is their policy that customers may only order once. When we pushed back by saying we have always been able to order a taco or two extra, she said, "Well, it depends on how busy the kitchen is." While I understand that, it is NOT clear to the customer and the language on the menu is absolutely not clear. If they want to be trendy and have all of their menus written entirely in English, they need to make sure their translations are clear and understandable. The fact that both the waitress and bartender/girflriend were so rude and dismissive of our complaint was enough to put us off ever going there again. The food might be amazing, but the horrendous service and abysmal customer service are not worth tolerating. I'd prefer a sub-par meal at a restaurant with good customer service to what I experienced here - quality of the food be damned.

Very yummy super yummy Best vegan burrito in Trier. Couldn't rate the other food . I have a craving for the vegan burrito from time to time and this is the place I go. Friendly staff Opening time is a bit tricky, better Google before going.

I have never been much of a surf and turf guy, but I attached a picture to describe my emotions, anytime I get to eat one of those burritos! The service is utterly friendly! Drinks and dessert are sooooomething else and I can honestly recommend the whole menu 😍 I would eat there 3-6 times a week, if I could! 💌

Beste Empfehlung die ich seit langen bekommen habe! Wir haben das Chicano am 02.06. besucht - das essen und der Service waren super👌🏼 das Ambiente und das Lokal selbst wird eher klein und familiär gehalten, was sehr einladend ist. Zudem ist uns der Koch sehr entgegen gekommen. Nach vorheriger Ansprache hat er ein extra Gericht zubereitet (da Allergikerin unter uns war) Hier merkt man, dass das Wohl des Kunden mit an erster Stelle steht 🫶🏼 Danke dafür! Allein wegen diesem Lokal werde ich Trier wieder besuchen kommen 😌 Liebs 5/5 ⭐️

Heerlijk gegeten! Veel keuze, veel smaak, erg vers! Ik kan vooral de nacho’s aanraden, één van de lekkerste die ik ooit heb gegeten. Onze hondjes waren binnen en buiten welkom. Ook met 30 graden kan je hier heerlijk buiten zitten.

Gezellige kleine eetgelegenheid. Wij hadden online gereserveerd en gevraagd of de hondjes mee mochten. Ze reageren super snel. Hondjes mochten mee.Eten was top en zag er mooi uit. Bediening vriendelijk en vrolijk. Goede Service. De pure chocolade taart is een aanrader.
