Food was great. Service should be better. Nice but inexperienced service.

Very good cuisine, the staff is very friendly and good, as is the wine recommendation. The ambience is still a bit unfinished, but that's because the owners have just moved in, otherwise it's great, keep it up.

I can partly agree with the previous recessions. The dishes are finely prepared to the point, not too little seasoned, not too much. I had the risotto and the gratin, plus a tortlette for dessert. What should be noted, however, is that despite the quality, the volume of the food and the price do not match. 3 course menus between 38-50€. In this respect, he is talking about high-priced, high-priced food. The service is very polite, very friendly and reserved. Personally, I would always like the service to be a little more lively, but that's just my opinion, it seems a bit too sterile and polite. To be honest, the ambience is not good. It is a poorly decorated room with tables relatively close together. For me, the ambience also includes the table decorations, glasses and dishes. The latter is very simple, the wine glasses have a thick rim and are not high-quality wine glasses and the plates also look very cheap. That doesn't match the price level of the food and drinks. It was nice overall, but for the reasons mentioned above I wouldn't go there again.

Wonderful! All dishes from starters to dessert were fantastic. Finely balanced ingredients, fresh and very high quality. We really enjoyed it and had a very nice evening. The service was also very pleasant, friendly, helpful and reserved. We'll definitely be back. A great thank you to chef Emil and his team!

Chez Emil is a hidden gem! As a native French person I can confirm that the food here is incredibly authentic and absolutely amazing.🥰 You can really taste the quality in every dish, as they use high-quality ingredients reminiscent of a traditional French kitchen. I highly recommend trying the beef bourguignon—it’s simply delicious! The restaurant is family-owned by a lovely young family who truly care about their customers. I visited with my children, and they were very accommodating, providing high chairs and creating a welcoming environment for families. It was a delightful experience for all of us. We can’t wait to return! ♥️

Finally a real restaurant and not a fast food service as you see all over the place here.. Good basic french food. Not trying to be more than they are. And also a place where you get good wine by the glass. Finally they take international credit card. A big thumbs up from Danmark.

One can only be surprised by the exuberant positive evaluations and they are incomprehensible. Were they friends or bots? The host is ambitious, but unfortunately has no professional culinary knowledge. This is why he offers ambitious cuisine, but which goes beyond his professional knowledge. This in no way justifies the prices displayed, even if these are of course understandable from an accounting point of view. However, at these prices you can find much better cuisine in the normally inexpensive Berlin gastronomic landscape, which can be called restaurant. This one isn't one, it's more of a hobby. Isn’t this a disservice to Berlin’s food scene? It is not necessary for every untrained person to turn their hobby - even if it is obviously their passion - into a profession. One would at least expect that such ambitions would be accompanied by an interest in qualification - unfortunately, this is not the case. It's a shame.

After removing this post from Google, now again. A successful appearance on TV. You seem like a genuinely nice guy. Hard school by Tim Raue. But this is real gastronomy. Wish you good luck and success with your business.

Everything was fine, the service was great, the staff was very kind. The food was really delicious. The prices are right. I can recommend it to everyone.

How bad do you have to be to come here after a show and comment without ever having visited the restaurant. Hopefully your fake reviews will be reported! During the Corona times, I was very lucky to work in what was then the testing center next door. The nearest supermarket, which was very close, was on Turmstrasse. Unfortunately, if you were alone in the store, it was often not possible to walk there. My colleagues and I always ate at Emil’s. The baguette and the tart in particular were always fresh and tasted incredibly good. It was always very crowded on weekends and sometimes you had to wait a little, but it was definitely worth it! I would like to remind you that Emil just opened the shop when he was 17 (he is now over 20), when the majority of us didn't even know the word "work". We all know that we have been struggling with inflation for some time. Unfortunately, in some cases this leads to price increases, which in turn can lead to bankruptcies. Nevertheless, Emil is living proof that you can achieve a lot with ambition, your own motivation and support! He still has a lot ahead of him, there will certainly be high and low hurdles, but the most important thing is to keep going!

We recently visited Emil and were very happy with everything. We love French cuisine and French wines and are also quite discerning restaurant goers. We enjoyed the food and wine very much, the service was friendly and attentive. Accordingly, we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Hello Emil! Wow, it's been three years since my review. Back then it was Suite Seventeen 😉. And I was so happy to have your small, fine restaurant around the corner in addition to Domberger. Then I left Berlin. Now I'm back, but unfortunately no croissants, pain au chocolat and baguette. It's a shame :( but it's probably due to the lack of sales etc. I haven't tried any of the warm dishes yet, but I'm excited. I had a lot of respect and appreciation for your courage back then. Yes, also because of "roughness", I'm updating here now. I don't even want to go into it any further. I think it's a constant learning process for you and your crew and RTL relies on ratings. It's remarkable what can be achieved here in a small space. Respect!

Our average fell from 4.9 to 4.8 because of the show, also because of your rating :-( We gained nothing with it and would have been happy if this show had never been broadcast. We have never had quality problems, but we have had problems with our card payment system. More than €14,000 was missing from the till and I asked myself how it could be that we have a lot of customers, work well and are still slowly going bankrupt. That's why I applied for the show. But instead of doing an analysis of what was really going on to really save us, we were systematically put down according to the script. I only found out about the missing money after the filming, together with my parents and the bank. But RTL already had its material and it is exploited accordingly. You write this to me and ask me to remove the review...since I wasn't in your restaurant. I just find it very strange...that after the show aired...suddenly there are good ratings. Then I ask you...delete the review too...they weren't in your restaurant either and I just wish you luck for the future. These people have not personally visited your restaurant and you thank them. But it can stay standing. Please ensure that these reviews are published. I can also forward the whole thing to Google. I also have to tell you...anyone who is closed 3 days a week...and that's Saturday and Sunday...can't run a business properly. Oh... and then only 4 hours a day. Sorry...for being so clear. I really wish you the best of luck...but please do everything right. Finally, one more thing...we were already at your restaurant. The food was okay... but I can do the same thing at home. Nothing special. How can €14,000 be missing? This is all a false calculation... Open 4 days and 4 hours a day...can't generate much income. Not to mention the expenses. A fabulous address and top-notch service

After seeing the amount in RTL yesterday, I would like to give a review. We were in your restaurant last year. We had a long day and came to your place after a realization. Unfortunately I have to say that the food was anything but tasty. The ambience, well. But since I didn't really want to give such a negative review, I let it slide. But yesterday I was very shocked because the store was decorated so well, I think at the expense of the station, and then it was redesigned in a negative way again. Personally, I think it also has something to do with decency. Why not tell the person in person that you don't really like it. So I changed my mind and submitted my application. Maybe we'll go back a second time to see if the cooking skills have improved and then reconsider my application.

We spent an absolutely wonderful evening at Chez Emil. We ordered the vegetarian menu and the menu royal and every single dish was so incredibly delicious. In addition, the timing and rhythm in which the courses were served was really perfectly adapted to us. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere was rustic and authentic, just how we like it! If you also know the history of the restaurant's origins, you can't help but be impressed!! :)

Hello Emil, I saw •Raue•! Slightly sterile after the rough interior, the colorful walls were terrible! Counter too big! Otherwise nice atmosphere! After your makeover! Now more space for eating, chairs more comfortable, colorful walls gone, that's good! Were terrible, caused unrest! Picture ok! Artificial flowers, bike not so nice! Very french, very different, interesting!

The food at Chez Emil was very nice, fresh, tasty and authentic. The atmosphere there is also very good, kind service. Would recommend for sure!!!

I have family who live in Germany and every time I come to visit my family in Berlin I eat at Emil's. This is our obligatory appointment! He is so kind and the food is delicious! The restaurant has such good vibes that it’s a wonderful time we spend as a family around an excellent meal!

I saw the show and I think you're great! If I'm ever in the area, I'll definitely come and eat with you! Stay friendly and all the best to the little family.

It's unbelievable what some people allow themselves to do. Give a bad review even though you've never been there. Instead of supporting a very young and hard-working family in becoming self-employed, they are given poor ratings for no reason. Shame on you! Ugh devil.

Great Atmosphere! This restaurant is one big journey for your french mind. Staff is friendly and the rebrand really made it attractive. The food tastes amazing and I feel like I am in france. Keep it up.

The food was pleasant, but not quite at the price point being asked. Soup was a little bland (perhaps the stock was not enough) and the beef stew was a little over flavoured with herbs. The scallops were perfect. In general the menu was too wintery for a summer night, would want to see some cooler or lighter options at this time of year. Staff delightful and atmosphere dreamy

We came after reading the great reviews, and went out of our way 1.5 hours from home to try this restaurant. Unfortunately, I have to say it was a deeply disappointing experience. I prefer to leave honest reviews, and I genuinely wanted to love it — the restaurant atmosphere is wonderful and we loved the small cozy feel. We were warned at the beginning, at 8 pm on Tuesday, it would be a long wait. We were understanding and willing to wait. But what was unexpected and ridiculous is that it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to be served water, and 2 hours to be served our wine. Dinner came after 2 hours and 15 minutes. A late dinner is fine — as said, we were willing to wait. But we had asked 3 times for the wine, and when I mentioned the final time it had been 2 hours, he said “well, I told you it’d be a long wait.” This was an arrogant and disappointing response. We would’ve again felt more understanding of the service had he tried, but he was forgetful, dismissive, and unhurried. He frequently got orders wrong. After 1.5 hours wait, we were informed they were out of the main dish I’d ordered. I reordered in the hopes we’d eat soon as all other restaurants around were closing within 30 minutes. Ultimately, our dishes were not as expected — the beef was dry, gratin tasted old, and the mussels were too acidic. The restaurant would benefit from tasting their own dishes if they haven’t in a while. We left without dessert at 10:35 pm. For the drinks and dinner, we paid €70 — too high for the service and portions were given. We were given apologies for the wait in the restaurant, but I truly find waiting so long even for drinks and arrogant responses afterwards terrible service. If you want good French, please head elsewhere. Edit to the owners response: First days and long wait times are forgivable and understandable. But waiting 2 hours for drinks after multiple requests when there were only 7 tables total is not. Thanks for the offer to return; we will not be.

Very nice restaurant. Feels like being in someones family home and I mean it in the best way possible Like seeing the kitchen staff preparing and having a good time and having just a few tables and a selected menu, that will provide for all needs. The staff is overall very attentive and friendly - very welcoming and very easy to talk to. The food was so delicious and very filling. Expecially the juices and the desserts were devine! Hope this gem will stay for many more years 🙏

We came because we saw the restaurant's rating (4.9!) but I must say that we were disappointed. The decoration is really blue/white/red, not at all in line with the very high prices charged. The dishes were good but nothing more. The raspberries for dessert were still frozen. The wines really aren't great. In the end 130€ for two and a lot of disappointment.

Un petit air de France! Et cette souris d'agneau, c'est une tuerie.

Ein absolut gelungener Abend! Auf der Suche nach einem authentischen Restaurant, sind wir auf dieses etwas kleinere Lokal gestoßen und sind im Nachhinein sehr glücklich darüber. Der Service war professionell und doch auf einer persönlicheren Ebene, was sehr angenehm war. Die Weinempfehlung war hervorragend. Auf der Speisekarte findet man eine kleine Auswahl an Gerichten, aber es ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Das Boeuf Bourguignon war absolut Klasse. Das Fleisch war extrem zart und verging wie Butter auf der Zunge! Ein Gericht was in Erinnerung bleiben wird! Der Nachtisch, besonders das Paris Brest war Weltklasse. Das Lokal bringt definitiv ein kleines bisschen Frankreich nach Berlin und wer hier noch nicht essen war, hat Nachholbedarf! Vielen Dank für den tollen Abend!

Nous sommes venus manger hier soir chez Emil et c’était super bon. Nous revenons régulièrement et c’est toujours aussi bon. Je prends souvent la salade de chèvre chaud et c’est délicieux comme toujours. La souris d’agneau est un régal 😋 Le service est impeccable et le vin bio fabuleux!

Einfach nur toll!!! Das Essen war wunderbar und bei dem Service hat man sich direkt willkommen gefühlt. Tolle Atmosphäre und das Brot einfach nur wow. Komme auf jeden Fall wieder.

Boef Bourguignon hatte ich, Knaller ... !

- Essen war gut aber nichts wofür ich wieder kommen würde. Vorallem sind 30€ für ein Bœuf bourguignon schon happig. - Der Service war nett, aber sichtlich unerfahren. Er hat Getränke vergessen. Außerdem gab es keine Rotweingläser für unsere Flasche Rotwein, weshalb wir aus Weissweingläsern trinken durften. - Ambiente ist ganz nett, aber es gibt schon ein paar sehr kitschige Dinge, wie das Rosenbild. Aber das ist ja bekanntlich Geschmackssache. Unterm Strich würde ich nicht nochmal kommen. Ich wünsche dem jungen Team aber alles Gute für die Zukunft!

Wir haben gestern Abend Chez Emil besucht. Es war sehr entspannte und angenehme Atmosphäre , die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und das Essen einfach köstlich! Vielen Dank auch für das Geburtstagsständchen für meine Freundin! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Bin am 30 Sept zu meinem 50 Geburtstag hin mit meinem Ehemann. Der Vorspeise gabs nicht, stattessen einen Salat mit Ziegenkäse, wobei der Salat nicht richtig geputzt war und der Vinaigrette praktisch nur aus Olivenöl bestand. Hatte Sand zwischen die Zähne und ließ ihn zurück schicken. Der Kellner war engagiert, Student, Quereinsteiger. Der Lammhaxe war in Ordnung. Die Küche etwas überfordert. Vielleicht hat er einen schlechten Tag? Sorry Leute es war nicht schön, Ich selbst arbeite immer noch bei Gastronomie, und kann es nicht verstehen. Das Beste war nur die Flasche Wein, cabernet sauvignon. Eigentlich die ganze Einrichtung und alles gefällt mir, aber ich möchte ungern das teure Vergnügung wiederholen und unzufrieden und hungrig für 85€ nach Hause gehen. Der Chef war auch nicht da, vielleicht wenn er anwesend wäre, wäre alles anderes gelaufen. Das Personal war aber korrekt, dafür bin ich dankbar. Trotzdem drei Sterne, obwohl nichts auf die Karte war an einem Samstag. Vielen Glück falls es so weiter läuft...Godspeed.

I can’t speak higher of this restaurant. The food was outstanding, without even mentioning the value for money. The staff were beyond personable where at the end I’d happily consider us friends. A true hidden gem. By far the best i have experienced in Berlin perhaps Europe. I can’t speak any higher or my experience at Chez Emil. I was a walk-in, treated like family, food came out quick, wine was exceptional and the food Devine. One of the few worthy of a 5* rating. Hands down.

Tolles Essen, Service und Atmosphäre - super restaurant !

De passage à Berlin, nous avons été satisfaits de retrouver des plats traditionnels français. La soupe au poulet et le boeuf bourguignon étaient particulièrement bons. Tout le personnel était très sympa et mettait bien dans l'ambiance française. Le chef Emil est très dévoué et gentil avec les clients. Je recommande fortement le restaurant et y repasserai avec grand plaisir une fois de retour à Berlin ! 🙂

Authentische französische Bistro-Küche in Wassernähe. Es gibt die Wahl zwischen unterschiedlichen, gut angestimmten Menüs und à la carte, eine ausgewählte Getränkekarte und aufmerksamer Service. Eine Bereicherung für den Kiez.

Wir waren am Wochenende zum ersten Mal bei "Chez Emil" und begeistert von der Qualität der Küche. Wir können das Menu Aquatique sehr weiterempfehlen. Service und Gastfreundschaft waren ebenfalls nicht zu übertreffen. Das Ambiente ist charmant und gemütlich, perfekt für ein entspanntes Abendessen in Moabit. Fünf Sterne für "Chez Emil"! Bis zum nächsten Mal!

Großartig Authentisch Französisch

Ein kleiner Geheimtipp in Moabit. Hinter einem unscheinbaren kleinen Restaurant verbirgt sich die großartige französische Küche, die von dem Chef Emil perfekt vorgeführt wird. Er überzeugt als Koch mit qualitativ hochwertigen Gerichten zu fairen Preisen und als Kellner mit seiner Freundlichkeit, die einem selbst an einem schlechten Tag ein Lächeln auf das Gesicht zaubert. Diese Kombination macht das Speisen im Chez Emil zu einem besonderen Erlebnis, welches ich bisher nie wieder in einem anderen Restaurant erlebt habe.

Es ist einer der besten Franzosen im Moabit. Es gibt dennoch ein paar Kleinigkeiten die man auf hohem Niveau verfeinern könnte.. Ein paar Kräuter in der Küche würden den feinschliff geben. Gefühlt und aus Sympathie * * * * * Empfehlenswert!

Es ist ein Stück Frankreich in Berlin. Kleiner gemütlicher Laden mit einer ehrlichen gutenvvfranzösischen Landküche. Wenn ich jetzt auch auf hohem Niveau jammere, wenige Kräuter könnten in der Küche stehen, um für meinen Geschmack dem ein oder anderen Essen ein wenig schlief zu geben. Aber jeder Koch hat seinen Stil. Man bekommt verschiedene Menü auf der Karte Angeboten, kann es aber auch einzeln haben soweit ich weiß. Eine klare Empfehlung meinerseits, da ich nur einmal da war und die Lammkeule als Menü hatte. Werde bestimmt wieder vorbeischauen. Hauptsach godd gess wie wir Saarländer sagen.. Danke!

Highly recommend! The food was spectacular and actually tasted authentic here: not only delicate and flavoursome, but also well portioned and presented. The service was most welcoming, kind and competent - for once a smile to break with my usual Berlin experience of nonchalance. The dining area too is comfortable and inviting with pleasant lighting and a few sweet nods to France & French culture along the walls. I will certainly be returning soon. Thank you Emil & Team!
