Cat Tuong in Berlin

The dishes are prepared very lovingly and look incredibly good. Unfortunately they taste a bit boring, so we would have expected more. Service is quick and friendly. Prices are within reason. The location is of course great and there are plenty of seating options. Of course, especially suitable for vegans and those who want to become vegans.

The new concept is terrible, even from a business perspective! And the food tastes like nothing! Unfortunately, the top Vietnamese restaurant with delicious, aromatic food has now become a strange “French interior” cafe (for whatever reason)! I have been going to Cat Tuong regularly for almost 7 years and it has been one of my favorite restaurants. I was there for the first time since the redesign and was shocked. It's okay that they raise prices! But saving on quality is a total shame! The soup was so watery and tasted like nothing! maybe there was a drop of coconut milk in it!

Sadly, food was utterly flavourless! Had to add soya and even then... This used to be one of our faves 5 years ago. Shame, it's not what it was! Price is relatively ok compared to neighbouring places so would be a definite advantage for them if the food was up to par.

Tasty and plenty, quick and cheap. And everything is vegan, what more could you want?

Ambience and interiors are the only good thing here and Food didn't taste anything like Vietnamese worst vegan restaurant ever in Berlin very disappointed!

Each dish we tried was delicious and beautifully presented. Additionally they were more creative than at your regular Vietnamese restaurant. Service was quick and attentive.

Seriously incredible food. The green curry and Der Wanderer dishes were spectacular. So creamy, so tasty, very unique, and not too pricey. Definitely not a spot to miss if you’re in Prenzlauer Berg. The outdoor terrace eating also adds to the charm in summer 😊

Delicious food, great service and lovely place, both indoors and outside patio. Clean flavors, fresh ingredients. If you’re into vegan or not, doesn’t matter. We were two adults who shared 3 starters for lunch, mango salad, dumplings with green sauce and crispy spring rolls - was perfect! Recommended!

Really good udon noodles, both with truffle and with creamy cashew sauce. Really quick service as well.

Friendly service, great ambiance, thoughtful presentation, and tasty food! Would come again! The soy meat definitely did not feel like real meat texture wise but it was good on its own (not as a meat substitute). Flavors were on the stronger side, but I didn’t mind.

Was there for the third time now. It's always been good, but it's actually gotten a lot better. Nice service and the food is really excellent, especially the sauces are impressive. The atmosphere outside is also really nice.

I've been going to Cat Tuong regularly for almost 10 years and it was my absolute favorite restaurant for a long time. I thought the switch to whole bowls was a shame at the time, but the quality of the food was still good. I liked the atmosphere and the moss on the walls. Today I was there for the first time since the makeover and I was shocked. The atmosphere is cold and sterile, the round tables are totally impractical and the food didn't convince me at all. I had sas curry. It was simply pureed sauce with a dollop of rice and some broccoli and some soy chicken. It's a total shame :(. I probably won't go there again.

The renovation has changed the ambience of the restaurant a lot. I wouldn't recommend it for an evening, more for lunch. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has deteriorated somewhat, but the prices are still okay. There are other options that I prefer.

Best vegan Vietnamese restaurant in Berlin

Had the Curry Traditionale, which was very tasty. Really creamy but I think a little more vegetables could have been added :) There is a great selection of delicious iced tea etc. Otherwise the waiter was very pleasant and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. Were there on a Friday, but still had free choice of seating :) All in all - good shop and everything is vegan!

Quantity instead of class. I can't confirm the good reviews. For 11 euros I expect better quality. The rice was totally over salted and fried in oil that was no longer completely fresh, the carrots seemed fresh, the beans were dry and looked like they came from a can. The rest of the “vegetables of the season” are very clear. The tofu was supposed to be caramelized, but was only briefly fried. The tea was okay and the service was friendly. I can only assume that given the exclusive location, the mass of tourists keeps the business going, because I don't want to eat there more than once.

A vietnamese restaurant with nice decoration and vegan concept. It seems they try to pretend meat with tofu or other vegeterian stuff, it was a nice try but unfortunately the taste/flavor is somehow weird. Maybe they can stay on the pure vegan food or there is much effort to invest to pretend meat deal with vegan materials.

Rarely eaten so good and exciting vegan food. Stumbled in here by chance. Freshly prepared food, very nice service, pleasant atmosphere. Not super cheap, but it would be surprising given the freshness and variety of the ingredients. Therefore a clear recommendation

I've been to the shop several times because I actually think it's great for vegetarian and vegan Asian cuisine. The dishes and combinations are super tasty. My last visit was in November 2023 and I don't find the shop so cozy anymore, before it was very green and cozy inside and I think it's currently being redesigned - it's not clear whether the design is finished or not :) also the dishes and portions They are no longer as big and intensely tasty as before (my favorite food is with truffles and I hardly tasted them last time). Nevertheless, all in all a good shop and, above all, very friendly and relaxed service, so actually 4 stars but now 3 because I know that it was better at the end of 2022/beginning of 2023.

This place was recommended to us. A vegan Vietnamese restaurant that was quite disappointing. Not in a way that the staff was unfriendly or the food terrible. The food simply wasn’t good. 10€ for a Buddha bowl and zen bowl is a ok price for Vietnamese spots, we’ve had better banh xeo and bowls else where. It was bland in taste and just nothing special.

Vegan Vietnamese food with a French influence. Very fresh and tasty.

Cozy little place with good service and warm ambiance that is more reminiscent of French Vietnam vibes. The food is presented lovingly and if you are unfamiliar with Vietnamese cuisine and flavour you might be satisfied with that. It is only vaguely reminiscent of proper Viet food, the signature flavours having been largely dulled down. Tbf, like most non-DE restaurants in the city, it suffers the same fate of colonization for the dull German palette. Drinks are okay.

The restaurant recently underwent a renovation, and the new look and feel of the place added to the overall dining experience. One of the highlights of this restaurant is their pasta with truffles, and it never disappoints. The dish is a symphony of flavors, with perfectly cooked pasta tossed in a creamy truffle sauce that is both rich and indulgent. The service at this restaurant is top 👍🏼

This is the first time we went after it had been renovated, it looks more French chic now, but the food, as always, was so so so good, I really wanted to lick the plate. Everything from the drinks and dumplings to the coconut brulee was sumptuous!!! All the stars! Must try!! So good!

One of my favorite staples in Berlin. My go to is the Zen Bowl, but everything is delicious. The space also recently renovated and the French-Vietnamese fusion is really cool and unique.

Veganer Gem, gefunden mit der Explo App 😋 All Veggie vietnamesisches Essen ist mein all-Time Favorit 😍 Vor allem die frittierten Rollen waren richtig lecker 🤤 Von mir leider nur 4 Sterne weil die Pho etwas „zu“ vegan war mir zusätzlichem Gemüse in der Suppe das authentisch nicht so in eine Pho kommt. Zu wenig Gewürze, eher eine Gemüsebrühe. 🍲 Trotzdem einen Besuch wert. Einfach die Auswahl zu haben ohne nach Inhaltsstoffen zu fragen ist wirklich entspannt.

Sehr gutes veganes Essen, sehr guter Service. Unser Essen wurde so unglaublich schnell gebracht: kaum hatten wir bestellt und unsere Getränke waren da, schon kam auch das Essen.

Es werden unter anderem auch glutenfreie Gerichte angeboten. Das Servicepersonal informiert hier ohne Probleme. Ich selbst habe Zöliakie und habe das Essen hervorragend vertragen.

Freundliche, gut gelaunte Bedienung, tolles Ambiente und leckeres, gut gewürztes Essen. Der Golden Buddha war mein Highlight!! Sehr zu empflehlen 🫶

The other day I had The Wanderer, a bowl of creamy, almost buttery udon noodles, steeped in such deep umami flavors it made me feel as if I had my head buried in tree roots, in the best possible way. To accompany this, I had the Drunken Master; macerated raspberries and passionfruit juice, with a tiny kick of chillies and vodka. The place seems to get busy and we got bumped to the tables next door - but the food was so good that it did not matter. Service was lovely. Will be back for those mushrooms, again and again.

Spontaner Mittagslunch. Problemlos einen Tisch bekommen. Einrichtung und Gemütlichkeit passen hierfür. Top Team. Freundlich und schnell. Gute (100%) vegane Auswahl mit interessante Gerichten. Ich bestellte „Der Wanderer“. Sahnige Udon Nudeln und eine Menge Pilze. Trüffel kam nicht wirklich raus, aber das hab ich auch preislich nicht erwartet. Der lag bei knapp 13€. Geschmacklich aber wirklich gut und sehr ausreichend! Würde wieder kommen bzw. es auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

Ein extrem nettes veganes Restaurant mit asiatiatischer Küche am Prenzlauer Berg. Tolle Karte, wohlschmeckende Gerichte & Cocktails, freundlicher und schneller Service, schöne Atmosphäre.

Seit vielen Jahren unverändert gut und auch immer qualitativ auf hohem Niveau - auch wenn man kein Veganer ist. Kann ich aus ganzem Herzen empfehlen.

Ich habe dieses Restaurant durch eine liebe Freundin entdeckt, mit der ich nun schon einige Male dort war. Ich nehme dort jedes Mal das Curry, was mittlerweile anders heißt und auch etwas abgeändert wurde von den Zutaten. Ich finde, es schmeckte beim letzten Mal noch besser als sonst, obwohl ich es schon immer großartig fand. Geschmack und Portionsgröße sind wirklich ideal. Super lecker!

Gemütliches kleines Restaurant mit freundlicher Bedienung und super lecker Essen. Beim nächsten Berlin-Besuch werden wir definitiv wieder bei Euch essen. Trotz Glutenunverträglichkeit hab ich das essen sehr gut vertragen. Der vietnamesische Kaffee war außerdem eine tolle Erfahrung.

Been here several times and every dish is delicious and fresh - authentic cuisine. I keep bringing non vegans here and they love it too. Mostly dishes with simply veggies and tofu instead of lots of meat imitation food. Will keep coming back

A cool little vegan eatery. We stopped there for lunch and were not disappointed. If you plan paying by card, be advised that they do not accept credit cards, only debit cards. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy the weather and tasty food.

Der Service bei Frank war der beste, sehr aufmerksamer Gastgeber! Das Essen hat auch fein geschmeckt.

To put it mildly, the food is really not great. I ordered a "vegan duck" with mango sauce. I received a fat fried piece of caoutchouc with no taste. The sauce was watery, the pieces of mango unripe, green and bitter, the vegetable hardly cooked. I cannot describe what my friend ate (something called "Der wanderer"). Suffice to say she left 2 thirds of it on the plate. Der Wanderer in German means "the walker". We walked away hungry and angry to pay for so bad food. Walked away to never return.

Great place for a healthy and flavourful dine-out. The quantity and quality of the food is fair for the price. Service is friendly and efficient.

Ontzettend heerlijk gegeten! Zowel voor, als hoofd waren subliem genoten van elke hap. Ook de huisgemaakte limo was erg lekker. Hele vriendelijke mensen in de bediening. Leuk terrasje. Je kan er pinnen, zeldzaam in Berlijn.

Good food with huge portions and generally friendly service. Same two guys serving yesterday and today - yesterday I had lunch and paid with a MasterCard credit card. Today I went to pay with the same card but his colleague wouldn’t accept it “only debit cards”. When I pointed out I used exactly the same card the day before with his colleague his response was “yes but not with me.” Luckily I just had enough cash. Weird. How to lose a customer in 30 seconds!

Dieses vegane Restaurant hat SEHR leckeres Essen und leckere Getränke. Die Speisen sind großartig gewürzt und werden heiß serviert. Toll ist auch, wie schnell das Essen gebracht wird. Zudem ist die Bedienung immer freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Preise sind angemessen. Mein Highlight: die gebackenen Wan Tan. Das Restaurant ist absolut empfehlenswert.

While in Berlin, this piqued our interest. We were really hungry and walked in for an inside table. The interior had a good vibe and the staff was nice and attentive. The drinks were good (ginger tea and some rum drink I can remember). And the food was great. I had a bowl and my daughter had a soup. Both so good. We had a winner for that evening!

Schön zentral gelegenes, rein veganes Restaurant mit hübschem Ambiente, einer sehr freundlichen Bedienung und großer Auswahl an leckeren Gerichten. Wir haben mehrere Vorspeisen, Hauptspeisen und den Bananen-Brot Nachtisch probiert und waren wirklich positiv von dem Geschmack überrascht. War nicht unser letzter Besuch, gerne wieder!

Huge variety of dishes, tastes are unique and not something you ate many times before, kind service, warm place and even cool drinks and deserts. Really enjoyed!

The food is amazing, the prices are adequate, we got our food very quickly and the people were nice to us. Drinks are also very good.

Mushroom noodles are 5*, although it is 4* size/price. The coctails are good, they could be a bit thinner but generaly good!
