Castle Tavern in Landstuhl

We love coming here when we visit the castle festival. Whether inside or outside in the beer garden—where you have a great view of the surrounding villages—we've always been well looked after. If you're coming with a group, I recommend making a table reservation (we were a group of 10), as the beer garden is always busy when the weather's nice, whether it's from castle visitors, cyclists, or walkers. Good Palatinate cuisine with generous portions at absolutely affordable prices. We had Wiener Schnitzel and Pfeffercremeschnitzel, both with fries and a small side salad—and it was absolutely sufficient for us. The women's restroom is very narrow, so you have to be careful not to bump into a door (therefore not wheelchair accessible). Highchairs are available for smaller children! One waitress has caught our attention on every visit so far. She seems stressed and annoyed when things get a bit busy, and she sometimes makes a snarky reply or remark – hence only 4 stars for service. We'd be happy to come back anyway.

Quaint little place at the top of the hill by the Burg-Nanstein Castle. There's seating inside & outside with a fabulous view overlooking Landstuhl. Most of the tables outside are covered from the sun, but it can be warm! We had a lovely breeze today & it was so beautiful. The food was great for our first true German meal - there's definitely a difference between German bratwurst & American tho! Our waitress was not your warm & fuzzy type for sure, but I've had worse so there's that. It's a good spot to check out - don't be shocked by the road entrance that you turn on to start your way up the hill on. It doesn't even look like it goes anywhere. You can even see & hear the planes flying training flights at Ramstein Air Base.

Great view, delicious food, and friendly staff. The food selection is extensive, and the prices are a bit expensive, but okay. The terrace is a great place to sit.

The location should really get 5 points. Great view from an old castle. I wouldn't expect a super-modern restaurant, though. But the service was terrible. Rude, throwing down the beer mats like we were dogs, and the same goes for the change because we didn't tip. She didn't deserve that either. The dinner was good, but very small. It should have been more for the money. I like the view and will come back. But in the future, I'll bring my own drinks and sit on the bench in front. It's a shame, they could offer such good quality, both in terms of service and food. Unfortunately, it looks like they don't need that.

A beautiful beer garden with sweeping views over Landstuhl, the Palatinate Forest, and Ramstein Air Base. The food is delicious and the service is friendly. The interior is rather simple, but the location and surroundings make dining a special experience.

We walked around the castle and decided to go in for a drink of something cool. We didn't try the cuisine, it was very hot, but next time we'll definitely try it! We ordered beer and apple saftecharle, we really liked the atmosphere of the place, and the very nice waitress spoke Russian. There is a castle nearby with a beautiful view of the city! I recommend visiting. There is a toilet, parking 🅿️.

Nice quiet spot to have a cold drink and tour a castle build in 1152. Great view of valley and city below. There are a couple hiking travels for a nice walk. Food was good and plentiful

Small food menu with German classics and beer. Beautiful view from the hill top seating. Unfortunately this is all ruined by the poor attitude and rudeness displayed by the older couple that run the restaurant. Their overall attitude is just rude. Additionally, they messed up three of our orders. They do take credit card, not including American Express

Great atmosphere...but that's about it. With service like that, self-service would be better. Unfriendly, and a stupid comment to boot. It's a shame that you don't feel welcome as a Landstuhl resident. Sausage salad with fries is too small for the price. 3 sausage salads, 2 fruit juice spritzers, and 1 wheat beer for €55...that's a lot. We won't be doing it again.

Love this place. Located right next to the local castle. The service was great. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone visiting Landstuhl.

Poor customer service. The place was not even busy and the worker gave me attitude while trying to order. Treated poorly. I canceled my order & walked out. Spend your money elsewhere that actually appreciates their customers.

Great atmosphere with a beer garden. Great view over Landstuhl to the Kuseler Land. Ramstein airfield is visible. Good service with the best Palatinate cuisine. Right outside the castle walls. The interior of the bar isn't exactly the best. But the service and cuisine make up for it. Great excursion destination with many signposted paths and information boards.

Nice place to take a break after a mountain bike tour. Very friendly service, delicious cheesecake.

Great view and delicious farmer's bratwursts

Actually, it's a great location, but only on sunny days and with only one full waitress. Kudos! The wait time was correspondingly long and very uncoordinated. The food was good, but it wasn't filling.

Delicious! The saumagen is so good! A great place to go if you are passing though Ramstien and want to see a castle and get a tast of the local Palatinate cuisine!

6euro for adult, children free. Pretty sizeable castle with a few exhibit rooms and caves/nooks. Also a food and beer spot outside with hiking trails

We loved the Castle Tavern! ❤️ Their salad with chicken was the best I've ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly. It was tender and flavorful. The salad itself was also very fresh, and their vinegrette was delicious. It's a neat tavern with a cool view and fantastic food. I highly recommend stopping by!

Good excursion restaurant with a great view

We were a group of about 30 people who had made advance reservations. Nevertheless, we had to wait over 65 minutes for our food at our table. The food was satisfactory for me, but my salad was contaminated by a really dirty lettuce leaf. As a result, I felt disgusted and didn't touch any more salad. All seven other diners at our table were satisfied with their meals.

The young waitress was friendly but clearly overwhelmed. I had to order a straw for my daughter twice. Another, as well as a coffee and a piece of cake that had been ordered, were not even brought. My repeated requests for the invoice were also unsuccessful. I had to walk to the counter with my disabled daughter... The outdoor area is very nice and offers a beautiful view of the Wasgau. The food was plentiful, very tasty with average prices. The restaurant is recommended despite the overloaded service.

The location of this restaurant is perfect for a lovely afternoon meal on the patio with exceptional views from the top of the mountain! The food is also quite delicious!! The rahmschnitzel is my personal favorite.

Nice forest tavern in a great ambience of the castle

This must be hidden gem! But not so much. We were simply touring and deciding to check this place out. Unfortunately we had food before we got there so we only focused on beverages and desserts. Their cheesecake is top notch. The personnel are very friendly. The only thing that topped the drinks and desserts were the view. You get to see the city from the top and its surroundings.

Tasty food. Great location. The views of Landstuhl are awesome. Parking is bit cramped and the drive up to the castle is kinda sketchy (small road). But the food, location and atmosphere were amazing. Would definitely come back.

Great location, great view and the food was actually always good. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. If you just want to drink something FIRST you are not very welcome. Today around 1 p.m. the outdoor area was very busy. When a table became available and we headed for it, the waitress said to us, "Please only occupy one bench if we have to add someone else." We spread ourselves out around the table anyway, the air temperature was already warm enough, so we have to Not 4 adults with a large dog sitting like chickens on the pole and there were some large tables only occupied by 2 adults, so there was still enough space elsewhere. We were allowed to enjoy our drink and the view for about 15 minutes, then the same waitress came and said yes, she said we should just sit on a bench, now people had come and she now sat with us and pointed to 2 adults with 3 small children. I couldn't help but remark that we're probably no longer welcome here (we've been here several times in the past, even if we weren't regular customers). The waitress replied "no why, but I WARNED her earlier". I noticed that it was a bit hard to squeeze children at the table with a strange dog. "Yes, there are dogs everywhere here and then I just put the 2 people behind them next to them, then the new guests can sit at their table... I could only shake my head. At least 3 tables of the same size only had 2 people occupied and they now wanted to squeeze more guests in with us... we then paid, even though we were only halfway through our drinks, but we wouldn't have stayed seated for a moment longer and that was definitely the last time for us were there

Wonderful view of the Palatinate and the nearby US Air Base. Attentive service and pleasant atmosphere near the castle. If you are looking for classic Palatinate food or generally home-style cuisine, you will find it here at a reasonable price! Had the Palatinate liver dumplings and the cheese spaetzle - it was excellent, would be happy again!

The food was generally good, but I personally felt that certain something was missing. Hence a point deducted. Our service was very courteous and friendly.

Great little restaurant right next to the castle. Has inside and outside seating. The view over Landstuhl is a sight to see. Recommend eating at this location.

Watching the sunset with the breathtaking view was just right for us as we ate the delicious food. The server was a little overwhelmed with a large group but did everything possible to make it a pleasant experience.

Schnitzel was ok, but the sauce was completely over salted, the cook said I was the first to complain about it, but there were four of us who said the same thing. Fried potatoes cost €2 extra, the portion that was next to the plate was just ridiculous When we asked, we were given more fried potatoes, but when we had finished eating. The service was disastrously unfriendly, after asking us to pay, she started cleaning the restaurant, then I was told that the restaurant was closing soon anyway and everyone has to pay.It was definitely the last time with you....

The place is located in a beautiful place with a wonderful view of the surrounding area and the castle.. Unfortunately, the lady serving there is a disaster. It spoils the atmosphere of the whole place. Very rude to people who speak Polish. Definitely more friendly for people speaking German or English. However, the food looks quite pharmacy-like and tastes good. These are not restaurant dishes, but rather bar dishes. A place of referrals after all

Beautiful Nanstein castle tavern with a beer garden We hiked from Lanstuhl Bruch to the Nanstein castle ruins. When we got thirsty, we went to the Nanstein castle tavern at the very beautiful Nanstein castle ruins. A beautiful hut with beautiful interior design and a beer garden from which you have a wonderful view over the Lanstuhler Bruch. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The price-performance ratio for the drinks is ok. There is also a menu with Palatinate dishes. We would be happy to come back and definitely recommend the Burgschänke Nanstein on a cycling tour.

For our evening meal, we chose to dine at The Castle Tavern situated near the historic Nanstein Castle. The German cuisine was quite satisfying. The view was spectacular! Unfortunately, we arrived too late to explore the castle's interior, but there's always next time. If you haven’t been here then you’ll definitely want to give them a try. You won’t regret it!

Nice personel The food tastes very good and the price is okay. In summer you can sit outside and enjoy the view Unfortunately, the vegetarian options are very limited. Either baked potato with quark and vegetables or tarte flambée with soft cheese. The vegan option would be a side salad and fries.

I got the steak with onions, herbs and cheese, the portions were great, the seasoning was perfect and the waiter was so nice!!!

Food is good, it's just a shame when you ask if the cream sauce is light, which the waiter confirms with yes. Then the sauce still comes in brown. The difference to hunter's sauce is only without mushrooms, that's a no go!

Eine tolle Lokation direkt an der Burg Nanstein gelegen. Von der Burgschänke hat man eine sensationelle Aussicht auf Landstuhl und Umland. Sehr nettes Personal und bodenständiges, solides Essen. Eine begrenzte Anzahl von Parkplätzen ist ebenfalls vorhanden. Definitiv einen Ausflug wert!

Schöner Ausblick und eine freundliche Bedienung

Alles aus einer Friteuse! Tiefkühlprodukte (Flammkuchen, Schnitzel, Bratkartoffeln, Nuggets). Einrichtung sehr alt und ungepflegt...Toilettenräume nicht richtig ausgestattet und schmutzig. Die Lokation ist (nur draußen) atemberaubend, an der Burg und mit Blick auf die ganze Stadt. Preise sind OK. Parken ist direkt 20 m entfernt möglich, auch mit Rollator erreichbar.

This wild boar burger was delicious! It wasn't the typical American burger, but delicious. I was thinking it had a type of mild horseradish in the "sweet sauce" on the burger but was told no horseradish. It had the same brief "effect" on my nose, though. Lol. The fries, beer, and service were great. The scenic view was breathtaking, and the pictures don't do it justice.

Enjoyed a wonderful schnitzel here. The food was delicious and satisfying. The view from inside and outside the cafe was spectacular. A great place to dine. I will definitely be back! Ich habe hier ein wunderbares Schnitzel genossen. Das Essen war köstlich und befriedigend. Die Aussicht von innen und außen des Cafés war spektakulär. Ein großartiger Ort zum Essen. Absolutely loved this! The food was so good.

Came here as my first stop to German life. I had an awesome time. The waitress spoke great English and was super patient. She was swift and helped us with our order and allowed me to sub fries for spatzle. Spatzle is soooo good. The liver meatballs were dope for a first time try and the beer was nice and cold. I would go here over and over if I lived in landshtul. Time will tell.

De apfelstrudel was lekker en het ijs ook. Personeel was ook ok en het een mooi uitzicht. Alleen spijtig dat er heel veel volk was zodat er een slechtere sfeer vormt.
