Cassambalis in Berlin

Wonderful atmosphere from the good old days, when we thought everything was settled with the Charter of Paris.

The food is good, the staff is friendly, and most of all, the atmosphere is amazing!! I really recommend it. Reservation is required!

We had our Christmas party there and it was a 10/10. the staff, the ambience, the service everything was perfect. Since we enjoyed it so much, we decided to celebrate New Year's Eve too. For us now our favorite restaurant in Berlin

The Cassambalis impresses with delicious food, a wonderful ambience and a perfect combination of culture and cuisine. The service is warm and attentive – a real highlight for connoisseurs. Absolutely recommended!

Service, cleanliness, quality guest experience, unparalleled experience, every time. The food is always delicious, I go there about once every three months, it's definitely worth it.

First of all, the positive: the atmosphere is really, really nice and cozy - actually a place I would like to go to, but: Extremely snooty service, sometimes rude: even the greeting was unfriendly and rude. I wanted to order a fish from the same standard menu, but three of the fish on offer were not in stock, which I was told very rudely ("it doesn't exist!") - oh sorry, how could I ask for it... Mixed ones too They refused starters for four people, so we each had to order something individually - that's okay in terms of content, but somehow better in style... The four of us spent almost 300 euros without desserts, which doesn't hurt us , but condescending and Rude is not possible even for 10 euros. The starters were completely overpriced for the run-of-the-mill quality on offer, only the radicchio salad and the tarama were really good, pimentos, fava and tzatziki were "okay", but too expensive for that and the quantity on offer. The seafood tagliatelle was really bad, although the pasta itself was quite good. 7 mussels that were so hard and tough that 4 of them could only be separated with force and unfortunately were hardly chewable and a king prawn that had also boiled into rubber. You can call this "seafood", but for 29 euros I expect more and, above all, not such poor quality. In general: apart from this 0815 standard ticket, there was unfortunately no day or week or at least season ticket (or they didn't feel the need to explain it to us). And the desserts - three: Greek yogurt, tiramisu and cheesecake, oh no: there was also vanilla ice cream. Every corner bistro tries harder, it's boring and, given that most of it is bought in, it's far too expensive. The wine list is also standard (read: quite ok) and overall too expensive for the quality offered. The ambience and our friends saved the evening, but we won't go there again due to the unfriendly service and the subpar and boring food. There are much, much better restaurants in this price category. It's actually a shame, because it could be so beautiful there...

We had our Christmas party there (for the second time). Not suitable for a Christmas party with almost 20 people! You can hardly have a conversation with your colleagues, it's just too loud and too crowded. We were given two long tables one behind the other. You could hardly get out of your seat without all your other colleagues having to get up if you wanted to go to the toilet. This year we ordered Ala Card, which worked surprisingly well. The starters were plentiful, so that everyone, whether vegetarian, vegan or all-eater, was satisfied. The main course was a little highlight for me because of the Christmas menu because Christmas dinner was offered. The portions were generous but a small bedside table still fit. The staff was a bit over-motivated but still very friendly and accommodating and fulfilled all of our wishes. The stars are deducted for the food because the price-performance ratio is extremely too expensive (inflation or not). And for the ambience we also deducted stars because it was too loud, too narrow and we were sitting right next to the kitchen.

We had a light dinner of pasta and salad. Our server Starvor was very professional: attentive and friendly but not overly chatty. The restaurant’s interior design is stunning, with the walls covered with abstracts, vanguard late 20th century.

I had the driest goose of my life. It's impossible to complain, the chef would have said that's what the service says. The small goose dumpling was probably a finished product from the Maggi bag and had not been in the water bath long enough; it was still very powdery inside. The service came when you rowed your arms.

It was an indescribably relaxed atmosphere... with the best food and lovely company. I felt privileged to be able to dine here.

God mat med fräscha råvaror. Personalen var okej. Trevlig interiör. Lite väl dyrt i förhållande till vad som serverades, men likväl en trevlig och bra middag.

Inconspicuous from the outside but a feast for the eyes inside! Beautifully decorated, the starter buffet in the restaurant is really exceptional! Our menu with fish as the main course was served at the table. Unfortunately, side dishes were only served much later! Everything costs more than the Greek restaurant next door. If the side dishes were served with the fish, I would say: Perfect | Our fish was now cold!

Well-made Mediterranean cuisine, but nothing Alain Ducasse, although there is a certain claim there. The dessert is the best 😁, I thought. All in all, a bit of New York style in Berlin, comparable to the Paris Bar. That's a big achievement in Berlin, where there still isn't that much choice. In any case, you can spend a pleasant afternoon there!

Food & ambience very nice. The service was also very good with a few small deductions. Unfortunately, one waiter repeatedly insulted another (perhaps new?) and, when he made a mistake, looked as if the new (?) waiter was at fault (not the case). We think that's a shame. Except for this one service person, we were very satisfied with the service and our evening. 🥰

Very expensive. Dishes that are nothing exceptional. The meat liver really isn't great. More than 8 euros a liter of still mineral water. A service that leaves something to be desired. A place to avoid. Don't be fooled by the pretty decoration of the place.

I'm back after 7 years, and I won't be back. The dishes are average, at the level of a provincial tavern (meatballs & dorado). Rosemary fries unacceptable. Champagne at almost room temperature. And towards the end we were visited by a couple of cockroaches. I photographed one of them, the other one was hidden somewhere. The young waiter very polite, the other older gentleman is probably tired in general and it's time to give up the service. Bon appetit.

We visited Berlin from Chicago and enjoyed our meal a lot. The atmosphere is lovely, so much art to look at and food and service was great. It is a 4 min walk to Savignyplatz, which is a nice area to stroll after dinner.

Gezellige sfeer, beetje Franse bistro met veel kunst, modern, aan de muren. Voelde al gelijk “warm” aan toen we binnenkwamen. Eten was werkelijk voortreffelijk, keuze maken was moeilijk zo veel lekkere dingen! Uiteindelijke keuzes waren voor ons beiden heel lekker. Vriendelijke bediening die ondanks de drukte de tafel in de gaten hield qua bijvullen glazen en opruimen borden zonder dat het vervelend werd.

Noble Italian. Really good food. Of course not cheap, you can easily lose €100 here. But, it's worth it. The problem is sometimes the guests, who are often very stressful.

This spot is amazing, coming from NYC and understanding what a good restaurant is supposed to be. The atmosphere is special with a worthy collection of art and an eclectic collection of stuff from a good eye. The food was outstanding and they were willing to prepare any dish any way you wanted it, superb, great service friendly waiters and worth the extra $$$.

Vor der Corona-Pandemie gab es bei Cassambalis eine große Vorspeisentafel in der Mitte des Restaurants. Was für eine Pracht das war, frisch, vielseitig, delikat und köstlich! Man konnte frei wählen im Selbs-Service. Dieses Angebot - einzigartig wunderbar - war der eigentliche Grund für uns, immer wieder gern mit Freunden uns bei Cassambalis zu verabreden. Auch Promis konnte der Gast mit etwas Glück öfters dort antreffen. Seit der Corona-Zeit ist die Vorspeisentafel leider verschwunden und auch danach nicht wieder aufgetaucht. Die Kellner sind öfters selbstgerecht, launisch und nicht gerade zuvorkommend. Wir gehen noch ab und an hin, aber die Vorspeisentafel fehlt unbedingt, sodass das Angebot von Cassambalis wieder tatsächlich einzigartig und eine kulinarische Besonderheit wird, wie es einmal vor Corona war.

If you're willing to spend a lot of money to enjoy very good cuisine and dedicated personal service, you've come to the right place: Greek and Italian cuisine at a high level in an artistic ambience (the walls are full of pictures in St. Petersburg) - maybe even celebrities to see.

Wir hatten reserviert, sind keine Stammgäste und hatten die Wahl zwischen einem Tisch direkt an der Tür, wo es zieht oder weiter hinten direkt vor der Küchentür, die offen war und ständig schepperte. Erst nach zweimaligen Nachfragen haben wir einen vernünftigen Tisch bekommen. Die beiden angebotenen Tische blieben den Abend leer. Unglaublich arrogant. Trotzdem war das Essen sehr gut die freundliche Dame vom Service hat das Beste gegeben, uns den Abend zu versüßen. Die Preise sind unglaublich angestiegen. Wenn man einen guten Tisch bekommt und auf das Geld nicht achten muss, ist das Restaurant zu empfehlen.

After my last recession, I have to correct myself. Back to the old days before Corona. Oysters were great. Everything else 5 stars. The operation was carried out at the highest level. All in all, appropriate for the price.

If you are only in Berlin occasionally, you will notice that some restaurants are completely full and some restaurants are completely empty. There's actually nothing in between. The Cassambalis is always completely full - with an illustrious audience and a really nice ambience. Sure, the kitchen can do sole with excellent spinach, but it's much more interesting when not only high-end products are successful, but seemingly banal starters like beetroot or oyster mushrooms are great. And if the team is warm and personal, especially the boss has a perfect overview, then it will definitely be a lovely evening. Or lunch.

Sehr aufmerksamer Service, Gutes Ambiente, alle Speisen von sehr guter Qualität und auch der Wein prima. Preislich allerdings ca. 30% überteuert. Beispiel: Lammkarre für 39 zuzüglich (!) Beilage, 30 wäre OK. Wolfsbarsch (der wirklich gut war) 50 plus Beilage usw usf. Bei angemessenen Preisen vier oder fünf Sterne, aber Berlin Charlottenburg ist nicht Schwabing. Schade, bei allem Verständnis für die Probleme der Gastronomie werden wir das nicht wiederholen.

The food was very blend, but the tzatziki was made strait from the yogurt can? Not good at all. Their lamb chops were not cooked properly ( I believe because the size was different on all of them and the cook didn’t know how much time they needed?). Not a Greek restaurant ( only 3 dishes of Greek food). It’s very expensive for the quality of food offered. That’s why I gave it only 3 stars.

Essen gut, aber auch nicht überragend. Die Bedienung schien schon mit der Getränkebestellung von 8 Personen überfordert. Das Trinkgeld hat sie trotzdem gerne genommen.

Tolles Restaurant, sehr freundliche Inhaber und Personal. Tolles Ambiente. Überarbeitungswürdig aus meiner Sicht wäre die Speisekarte (Zusammenstellung eines Gerichtes ist nicht ganz einfach) Nicht unbedingt für den kleinen Geldbeutel! Uns hat es super gefallen.

Da passte alles. Das Cassambalis ist ein Top-End Grieche. Das Essen war exzellent. Mein Souflaki Spieß vom Iberico Schwein ist eine Empfehlung. Auch die Atmosphäre und das Ambiente waren für das Geschäftsessen sehr stimmig.

Essen und Ambiente großartig. Allein den Bräutigam in unserer kleinen Gesellschaft zu fragen, woher er denn käme, stößt heutzutage recht unangenehm auf.

Seit Jahren Stammkunde, wir waren immer sehr zufrieden. Sowohl der Service wie auch das Essen waren bis dato immer überdurchschnittlich. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt absolut. Uneingeschränkt Empfehlenswert.

Das Cassambalis ist für manche Berlin BesucherInnen Kult. Zwischen viel Kunstbildern und Schnippes vermittelt die Küche eine interessante Mischung aus verschiedenen mediterranen Einflüssen, ähnlich einem Griechen, der italienisch wirken möchte mit einem Umweg über Nordafrika. Die Unsicherheit über die genaue Herkunft der Karte verleiht dem Ambiente einen besonderen Reiz. Mediteran at it’s best. Die Einrichtung und der Service heben sich vom Main Stream ab, aber es besteht die Gefahr, dass das Restaurant in Richtung eines touristischen Lokals abdriftet. Obwohl die Zutaten frisch waren, die einzelnen Speisen sehr solide, der Service kumpelhaft mondän und aufmerksam, ahnt der Gast, dass die Entwicklung des Restaurants nicht positiv sein könnte. Bisweilen zu viel Show um Standard Gerichte. Fazit: Ein aufmerksamer Service und eine gehobene mediterrane Küche in einem lebhaften Ambiente bleiben dennoch positive Aspekte. Die Preise sind recht hoch.

Allein als Frau und als Vegetarierin hat man dort schlechte Karten. Für Kartoffelpuree, eine winzige Portion Gemüse: und 5 verkohlte Austernpilze war die Rechnung mit 35€, inkl. 0,2 ltr Wasser schlicht und einfach zu hoch. Hoffentlich sind die Fleischgerichte besser. Die Atmosphäre ist anheimelnd und der Service ist annehmbar.

Nachdem wir einige Male am Restaurant vorbeigeschlendert sind und uns die schöne Inneneinrichtung immer wieder beeindruckte, war es heute endlich soweit: wir haben das Cassambalis zum Mittagessen besucht. Herausgegangen sind wir 90 Minuten später als Fans und zukünftige Stammgäste. Eine solche Servicequalität und Freundlichkeit sucht ihresgleichen. Die Qualität der Speisen ist exzellent. Danke an das Team und bis bald!

I loved this restaurant so much … I was visiting Berlin on a business trip and this place was highly recommended from a German friend and it was a worthwhile experience… the decor was just fantastic, the service was very good and the food was so delicious… I highly recommend it

Tisch für 4 Personen an einem Wochentag reseviert. Vorspeisen kamen zügig. Nach knapp einer Stunden fragten wir nach dem Hauptgang. Es wurde uns verschämt mitgeteilt, dass erst ein großer Tisch abgefertigt werden muß. Professionell wäre es gewesen mit solchen Widrigkeiten offensiv umzugehen; zügige Information und evtl. ein Drink auf Kosten des Hauses? Der Rotwein war - wie oft in Restaurants - deutlich zu warm. Der Eindruck der Speisen litten unter dem mißlichen Umständen. Daher das Fazit: Mäßig.

Парковались и обратили внимание на это заведение: обедали приятные люди, белые скатерти, ухоженные официанты. Решили заглянуть на ужин и не пожалели. Персонал хорощо обучен, одет "с иголочки"; внимателен, но не навязчив. Интерьер очень стильный, хотя может показаться, что слишком всякого навешано , Но ... видна рука мастера - зачет. Ну и то ради чего заглянули - кухня. И она порадовала! Заказали рыбу, приготовлена хорошо, свежая, красивая подача. Хозяевам спасибо. Будем в Берлине заглянем )

Tolles Ambiente, sehr leckeres Essen und top Service. Ideal für ein Geschäftsessen oder für den Besuch der Eltern, eher nichts für einen ausufernden Partyabend. Das Tzatziki ist ausgesprochen gut, danach sollte man nur kein Date mehr haben.

Food was excellent, oysters and veal chops. The service was very pleasant (never guaranteed in Berlin) the decoration of the restaurant with a lot of art works on the wall is making a relatively large restaurant cosy and pleasant. Only the seating is too tight. No way to have a confidential discussion.

10 minutes waiting for the waiter and nobody came to us . How come ? And when we stood up to go out - the waiter came and asked what happened ? I told : too long waiting . He turned around and told “chiao” Is is service ? Is it professionalism ? In the center of Berlin )))
