We used to eat tacos often here but this time they did not taste as good as other times

FYI: I ordered online, so this is solely about the Food Quality. Because they got my order wrong, I got my money back. Image being upset enough to still write a bad review... When I looked inside my 15€ Taco box I was stunned. two puny little tacos, barely filled. Is this supposed to feed someone? Luckily I got a burrito. "Luckily" I thought, before it all went downhill. When I bit into the, absolutely carelessly wrapped, burrito I had to find out the hard way, that it was filled with 50% ice berg lettuce. So 50% of the burrito was a tasteless, watery crunch. Where in Mexico has anyone ever had anything like this?! It's supposed to be juicy, full of taste. Flavors bursting out of the meat and sauces. You want that? Well your'e not getting that here. I had the Pastor Burrito, in case you wanna give it a whirl yourself. honestly 30€ for that? I would've cried all night long. The Tacos have potential, the whole place does. But they gotta dig deep to create something to be proud of. Until then, peace.

Yes, the respective missing 1 point, because there is a difference between totally perfect and quite good. The food was tasty, but I found the price a little too high. The service staff were friendly, but what irritated me was that the German-speaking service staff were talking (speaking) to each other in Spanish directly in front of the guests. This gives me as a guest a feeling that I found very unpleasant. We sat outside and I missed the trained eye of the service staff when it came to the cleanliness of the assigned tables and chairs. As a handicapped person, going to the “town” was an extremely challenging event. No continuous handrail; no stage resembled the following; sometimes short step, sometimes high step, tight curve... We were there with friends and so we made our evening as enjoyable as we liked. Overall, it's a good meeting place, sociable, friendly and entertaining in the middle of a busy, sociable Cologne corner bar...

We were there with a group of 10 people. Even though it wasn't full, the service was very slow. After ordering the food we had to wait a total of around 1 hour. What came next was mostly more than disappointing. Only the tuna dip with the nachos was really delicious. Everything else was very small in portion size and carelessly prepared. It was unclear to us which fresh ingredients should be used there. And you expect more from a mixed plate where you get a little bit of everything. Sticky tortilla, tasteless content certainly doesn't leave you wanting more! But the ultimate audacity is that you order Coke and when you pay you question why you should pay 0.5 for a large Coke when you only got 0.3 liters. When asked, the waiter said he was told this over and over again, but the boss wouldn't change it. The large glasses would be a maximum of 0.4. This is usually called cheating. And the waiter even asked me to mention this in the review… What kind of shop is this? It's a shame that the whole thing cost 100 euros for 4 people.

We waited 50 minutes for the food, which didn't come, and then left without eating. Really frustrating.

Portions too small and too expensive. 3 burritos and 2 starters for 75 euros without drinks or side dishes. It would be cheaper to send the burritos by mail from Mexico. Never again thank you.

Food arrived quickly and was tasty, but the service wasn't that good. The entire restaurant was empty, but we were seated at a narrow table in the aisle. As soon as the food was there, we were no longer asked if everything was okay. We were also left standing at the entrance for a few minutes, even though the restaurant was completely empty. All the employees stood at the bar and talked, some also saw us... There was actually supposed to be live music at 6 p.m., but the musicians were still sitting and drinking when we left the restaurant at 6:30 p.m. All in all, the food was very good, but the service was very disappointing.

The food on the picture was around 16€. The thing about mexican food is about also about is portions. However this place’s portions are so small that it makes you realize that you are being ripped off as soon as you see your plate. For example, In California, (where average after taxes income is at least twice of Köln) you can get much larger portions for maybe 10-15% expensive price on a comparable restaurant. More importantly, they brought the wrong order. After that, the waitress insisted that this is what I ordered. However, she even wasn’t the person who took our orders.

Unfortunately, our dining experience wasn't that great. We waited over an hour for our food (burrito). The compensation (espresso) offered by the waitress was not served. Considering that the meal took so long, it was prepared quite simply and carelessly.

Stopped by on a Thursday night. The restaurant was packed. Not sure if it is always busy. Or if it was more busy than usual because the next day was a public holiday. Liked the look and feel of the restaurant. However, the tables were very close together, so it was easy to overhear your neighbours (or be overheard). The restaurant was packed and there were only 2 servers (taking orders and serving food), so it took a while for our food to arrive. It took more than an hour for our main dish to arrive after ordering. We ordered a couple of spicy (Mezcal) margaritas and totopos w/ guacamole as a starter. Both were very tasty. The totopos were not homemade. The guacamole was homemade. They gave us a generous scoop. And, it was delish! Our main dish was very good. I ordered the blue corn quesadillas with chicken (“tinga”). It was served with a side salad. My friend ordered the tacos with pork (“pastor”). We enjoyed our mains. And, would order them again.

Unfortunately this chain restaurant was not living up to its reputation. Having been recently in the US and experiencing authentic Mexican food, I was a little disappointed by this effort. Very small portions, hardly any meat in the taco's and all in all, not tasty or zingy. I will avoid Mexican for a while now, as this was quite a let down.

Wunderschöne Athmosphäre, sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter, leckeres und vor allem authentisches Essen, haben uns wieder gefühlt wie in Mexiko. Man hat immer etwas warten müssen, es war allerdings auch ordentlich was los. Preislich voll in Ordnung.

Wir haben einen schönen Abend hier verbracht. Service, Essen und Ambiente waren sehr gut. Die junge Frau an unserem Tisch hat uns sehr gut und beraten ausführlich beraten. Alles war dann passend, jeder Extrawunsch wurde beachtet und das Essen war sehr gut und reichhaltig. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

I've been coming here for several years and have always been very satisfied. The food always tastes good. Today I was there for lunch and ordered a bowl and asked for it without corn. I have ordered this many times and my wish has always been fulfilled. Today, however, the waitress told me that the salad was already pre-mixed and that wouldn't work. I ordered the bowl anyway and when it came, all the vegetables including the corn were on the salad, so obviously not mixed in! One time before, my request in a court to swap the salsa for something spicier was also rejected. There was no reason for this either, they would have been priced the same. I don't know why the service was so bad in this regard, but that really annoyed me, after all, I'm a paying customer and my requests were relatively simple!

Cocina tipica is to be taken seriously! Unfortunately at a busy intersection…

Delicious food, but not too cheap

I thought it was good. But I wouldn't go there again for a while. The food was delicious, but the portions, especially the tacos, were too small for the price. The cocktails were very good. I don't recommend sitting outside, as you're essentially sitting in the middle of an intersection and are disturbed by passersby and other people late at night.

Very authentic in all respects. I really like being there because of the atmosphere and the delicious food, as if you were in Mexico. The staff is very friendly and the prices are great for what you get.

I came with some friends who were visiting the city because they were in the mood for Mexican food and they all ended up super disappointed in the experience. We arrived at 8.15 pm and it took them about half an hour just to come and take our order. Half an hour later they come and tell us that they ran out of certain ingredients and take our order again. Half an hour later they come back with fewer ingredients and take our order again. The food arrived lukewarm, incomplete and after 1 hour and 20 minutes. The service was terrible, the cook was ironic when I asked him for the manager. The worst thing about it is that after 9 pm the restaurant was almost empty and it still took them too long to bring the food. If you feel like Mexican food, I recommend going somewhere else because here you definitely leave with a bad taste in your mouth.

I came to the restaurant with high expectations but ended up disappointed and upset. The service was terrible, it took two hours to bring the food, the order was changed 3 times and in the end it arrived incomplete and lukewarm. If you want to go to a Mexican restaurant, better go to another one!

It took them half an hour to take our order, half an hour later to tell us that there were no ingredients, and then wait another half hour to tell us that there were even more ingredients missing. Great food. Shame about the delivery service/s. I've ordered 5 times and received the delivery only once. It was tasty though. The restaurant pushes the blame onto uber eats and vice versa. When Lieferando worked it was ok.

Luckily we had reserved a table in the evening so looking for a table was very relaxed. In the evening the store was packed and all the seats were completely occupied. The starter trio was very tasty (different chips than in the other Mexican restaurants) with three delicious sauces. The service was also very friendly and competent. The ambience in the store was super nice decoration and everything seemed very authentic! You definitely have to remember Casita Mexicana for a second visit!

The food was extremely tasty, and the spices were perfectly balanced. We recommend trying a bit of everything and ordering one of the fresh juices. The service was also courteous. We were lucky enough to sit on the lower floor, where it was a bit quieter.

Friendly staff and good food. CasitaMexikana is the Mexican restaurant we always visit when we visit Cologne.

As a Mexican, I enjoyed the food more than expected. Some dishes are basically Tex-Mex and some others are close to the traditional Mexican flavor, adapted to the European palate. You will be satisfied with the portion sizes. Atmosphere and decoration are also great. It was a nice surprise that people in the restaurant speak Spanish, English and of course German.

Always cool, celebrated my birthday here for the second time and it was great. The food was super tasty, service was super nice, everything was just great!

There were better experiences for tacos. The taste of bread is suppressing the taste of food inside. Other than that environment is good, service was very fast, team working is very kind.

We went to Casita Mexicana for the first time today. The food was tasty and came quickly, although not cheaply. For the price you could expect a little more. The decisive factor for the 2 stars, however, is the very lackluster and unfriendly service. That really dampened the mood during the visit.

Unfortunately it has diminished over time. The taste of the food is sometimes completely unbalanced and thrown together carelessly, the portions are quite small and the price is quite high. The shop itself is quite nice. However, the branch on Severinstrasse is better in every respect.

We ate here recently after not being there for about 3 years. Our food was delicious, as was the homemade iced tea. The only thing is that the prices are sometimes quite high, especially considering the portion size. We'll definitely come back again anyway.

The food here is at its best! Fiery hot and really tasty, especially the dips with the tortilla chips from the chef are awesome!

My friend and I spontaneously went to Casita Mexicana in the Belgian Quarter this evening. The evening started well, with a really nice cellar. We ordered tacos and cocktails. The food was delicious, a margarita too. The Mezcal Mule - horrible. A totally unsuccessful cocktail, far too much alcohol, no taste, bad mix. But we were relaxed - it happened and immediately complained about the cocktail after we tried it briefly. An incredibly unfriendly team leader replied to us: “You ordered it, you have to drink it... Yes, that is a strong cocktail. That's just how it tastes, etc." We: "Yes, good, but we just don't like it." And in our mid-30s, we are also able to drink a supposedly strong cocktail and don't have to be lectured. So we asked for a new drink. You: yes, but you also have to pay, even if the other drink was simply undrinkable. Such impudence! End of the story: the lady didn't change her face, even after repeatedly pointing out that this wasn't good service. So my friend had to eat his food without a drink and we left. At least he didn't have to pay for the failed cocktail after all. This team leader really has no idea about gastronomy, which is a shame for the pretty shop. The simplest solution would have been to accept the criticism, take the drink straight off the bill and offer a new one. Complete. We won't be coming back and won't recommend the restaurant.

Excellent food and EXCELLENT service, how refreshing to be greeted with a smile, with kindness and patience by Franco! Franco made us recommendations and paid attention to us and all with a smile. Casita Mexicana: more employees like Franco please. The cook is also excellent!

The food is really great as is the service. So it tastes really great. The problem, however, is clearly the price and the portion size. For 15 euros 4 mini tacos that certainly will NOT fill you up is pretty cheeky. Generally you have to take a starter and then you'll quickly be over €30 per person including a drink. And the high stools are also extremely uncomfortable.

Das Essen war gut, die Cocktails waren lecker es kommt der mexikanischen Küche ähnlich. Leider sind die Salas nicht authentisch mexikanisch. Ich denke die Tortillas sind nicht frisch gemacht, sondern eingefroren und aufgewärmt. Wir sind in Deutschland und ja es gibt besser mexikanisch Restaurants aber es war sehr lecker und es kommt der mexikanischen Küche sehr nah. Für einen Abend mit Freunden lohnt es sich auf jeden Fall.

Best, Mexican in Cologne hands down

The best and only authentic (imo) Mexican restaurant in Cologne. Bay City Burritos is good but this place has more variety. Everything is fresh and delicious 😋

Summary: unsuitable for vegans and overpriced. I had the Casita Mix plate (taco, quesadilla, burrito) in vegan - by the way, almost the only vegan option. When I ordered I was asked if I wanted cheese, which I said no and repeated that it should please be vegan. The question about whether meat was ok almost caused me to leave. The food came relatively quickly. You get 2 (mini) tacos, 1 burrito and 1 quesadilla. The fillings: 2x a few vegetable snippets (with coriander sauce) on the tacos, 1x kidney bean puree which had a meaty aftertaste (but at this point I was probably biased by the question when ordering). The last filling was incredibly poorly seasoned nopal, which to me simply tasted like pickles with a bit of lettuce. The whole thing for >20€. I was neither full nor did I enjoy any of these fillings - the tacos were ok but unfortunately with coriander sauce (tastes vary here). There was a little extra sauce that I couldn't identify because it didn't actually taste like anything (maybe water with a hint of onion). The drinks were good and also of a large selection. My partner liked it mediocre - but the prices were hefty here too. Therefore 2 stars even though my experience was worthy of a maximum of one star. Without exception, the staff also speaks Spanish, for whom that is relevant (I cannot judge whether all the employees come from Mexico or Latin America in general) Service but rather bad: The questions about the vegan order & we wanted to ask for a second napkin because there was only one at the table - we ended up halving it because we couldn't get anyone to the table. Side note: If you don't like coriander, you should keep your distance - I ordered without coriander (there was none on top as a topping) but apparently there is no (vegan) sauce without coriander, which is why my food ultimately had a slightly soapy taste: )

We always had fond memories of the restaurant and enjoyed eating there. However, a few months have passed since our last visit. The quality has decreased significantly since then. The food was below average and carelessly prepared. We felt more like we were in a fast food restaurant.

We went to a restaurant for lunch, and it was really good. The atmosphere was pretty nice and chill. The music was fun but not annoying. The waiting time was pretty short and worth it because the food was really good. And as a cherry on top: homemade brownie. Everyone (including small kids) enjoyed it a lot, definitely worth visiting.

It’s hard to find good Mexican food outside North America, but this place does satiate my cravings. Not only with food, but the atmosphere. It has a very warm and nostalgic environment. I like to order a mix of tacos and share with a big group. Had ‘El Machete’ cocktail and it was genuinely one of the best cocktails I’ve had in months. It had a slushie ball in the center of the drink that was delicious. The second time I ordered the drink, there was no slushie ball and it wasn’t nearly as good, a bit unfortunate. Definitely recommend to any Americans missing a local Mexican place, I wouldn’t say it’s as good as what we have back home, but still hits the spot. Their salsas are especially good! I recommend the appetizer ‘Trio’.

I really enjoy eating Mexican here. The waitresses are very nice and there are delicious tacos, quesadilas and great sauces. For eating I can recommend the casita plate, there's a lot on it and you'll be full. For the other dishes, I would still recommend a starter. There is also Corona on tap. Also suitable for larger groups.

The food is really tasty, but the waiting time is quite annoying. I ordered something to pick up and it should arrive in 15 minutes. Once I got there I had to wait another 30 minutes!!

I wait one than one hour I will never come very bad restaurant

Wir waren an einem Sonntagabend dort und mussten mehr als eine Dreiviertelstunde auf unsere Getränke warten. Bis das Essen kam, dauerte es mehr als eine Stunde. Die Musik war ohrenbetäubend laut und das Personal heillose überfordert. Von den vier Nachtischen auf der Karte gab es nur einen… insgesamt eine recht enttäuschende Performance, auch wenn das Essen okay war.

Leckeres auch essen, was der richtigen mexikanischen Küche auch sehr nah kommt. Klar gibt es Anpassungen, aber wir sind ja auch nicht in Mexiko... Das Serviceteam war super nett und die Atmosphäre im Restaurant war auch entspannt (evt etwas zu Laut?), aber hey authentisch mexikanisch ;) Preislich schon etwas ambitioniert (z.B. kleine Portion Nachos mit Dip 9,50€ oder 2 Quesadillas für 16,90€ + Aufpreis je Füllung)

It's a real shame that you only get Tex-Mex in Cologne. Unfortunately, this has little to do with authentic Mexican food.

Great service and environment! Good beverages too and the food is similar to the real deal in Mexico. I really recommend this place if you re looking to spend a good time and enjoy traditional Mexican food.

I’m a mexican student here in Germany and I was looking for a place to eat mexican food, I found this place and it was amazing, also Miguel was my waiter and he spoke to me in spanish which made me feel at home, plus his service was amazing. I would really recommend this place.
