Casa di Roma in Hamburg

For years, I've been coming to Casa di Roma whenever I'm in Hamburg – and every time it feels a bit like coming home. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the friendliness and appreciation shown by the father and son create a truly special, familial ambiance. My absolute favorite dish is the beef fillet – the best I've ever eaten! The meat is of the highest quality, incredibly tender, cooked to perfection, and the crust is simply delicious. But the other dishes are also outstanding and prepared with care. The wine selection is a perfect match and rounds off the meal beautifully. For me personally, Casa di Roma is the best restaurant in Hamburg – everything is just right!

In all this time, we've never left disappointed, but instead disappeared into the dark hours of the evening looking forward to the next meal. Always with a smile on their face, which not only makes you feel welcome. It's so authentic that you can be sure of it. Saturday, November 8, 2025, we got a table for 4 people at short notice. "When the kitchen flirts with you" ;-) As a greeting from the kitchen, there was a delicious eggplant roll, dressed with an intense tomato essence, delicious herbed olives, and airy ciabatta. "When the kitchen asks you how you'd like it..." :-) It's the appetizers that make your mouth water. In addition to the large menu, daily fresh and delicious alternatives are offered verbally, described in such detail and with such delectable descriptions that the choice becomes even more difficult. The longer you think about it, the more delicious it is. :-) Whether it's a fennel salad with roasted walnuts and orange segments as a start to the culinary delight, or a burrata with four kinds of tomatoes, or a beef tartare... The flavors truly intertwine between palate and tongue. Mouth down...you eat and surrender to them with utter devotion ;-) The main courses, described both on the table and in conversation, read like a novel you never want to finish. Not Rosamunde Pilcher, whose suspense is ruined on the very first page. No...Sebastian Fitzek and his psychological thrillers. Ferdinand von Schirach for his true-crime novels. Karin Slaughter, who grips you with her thrillers. What you read about is exactly what you get...and how! Something happens to you that captivates you. Captivated by aromas. Hooked by delicate herbs. Incredulous at all the other pleasures that can be found. Wanting to try things you've never experienced before. Tagliatelle with fresh truffles. Whether enjoyed on its own, or enhanced with beef tenderloin or shrimp... Beef tenderloin in a pistachio crust with Barolo sauce and rosemary potatoes Truffle-infused wolffish fillet with mashed potatoes, green asparagus, and truffle foam The taste from the plate to the fork and into the mouth—that's something I don't even attempt to describe in words. Any attempt to do it justice would miss the point; you have to taste it to truly understand! This is a public expression of love and gratitude to the entire team at Casa di Roma.

We ate at this restaurant this evening before going to the Ohnsorg Theater. Unfortunately, the food served fell far short of our expectations. Neither the taste nor the presentation met our expectations. The food was of, at best, mediocre quality and served at above-average prices. My wife's handbag and cardigan were splashed with Prosecco by a server from the next table. She offered a curt apology, and that was the end of it. Meanwhile, the unpleasant "owner" went around asking various tables if everything was alright, but he completely avoided ours. We often enjoy eating out in Hamburg and the surrounding area. Don't be fooled by the many positive reviews. There are far better and more affordable Italian restaurants in Hamburg.

Simply fantastic! The service, the ambiance, the extensive menu + the waiter's recommendations, the food—I can't stop raving about it! You absolutely have to go. Tip: Fried egg on mashed potatoes with truffles.

Pasta is very nice. The chocolate lava cake is uninspiring. Atmosphere and service is great. It’s quite pricey though.

Honestly, I had a delicious fish soup and tagliatelle with truffles here yesterday. They were okay, but given the rather high price, I would have expected a bit more. The service staff are amazing. True entertainers.

We were greeted at the door of a restaurant for the first time, and the owner was so welcoming that we immediately felt at home. The food was outstanding—everything freshly prepared, delicious, and perfectly served, even though we were a group of eight. An incredibly lovely atmosphere.

Spontaneously, without a reservation. It looked very appealing. Right from the start: it was simply very good. Highly recommended. Friendly, professional welcome. Pleasant, very well-kept atmosphere. A place to feel at home. Chic, elegant, special, classy. The specials and a very extensive wine list are presented quickly. There's fresh bread and great olives. Vitello tonnato as a starter. Excellent! The main course was also excellent. Simply fantastic! All in all, very satisfactory and highly recommended.

Everything just works here. The service is super friendly, the atmosphere pleasant, and the food truly delicious. The portions are just right, and it feels like you're sitting at a friend's table. I especially liked that there wasn't a long wait for the food. Highly recommended, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Great Italian restaurant right on Lange Reihe. I've been there at least 20 times and have never been disappointed. Great salads, great soups, great pasta, and great desserts. Highly recommended. Be sure to make a reservation in advance.

I'll sum it up by saying it's okay. The experience is average. The service is friendly, though it doesn't create an atmosphere that would encourage return. The portions are elegantly presented, with elegant minimalism and a high price. It's hard to find the Italian atmosphere one would expect in such a restaurant.

Anyone who has ever experienced the meticulousness with which the chef checks every delivery will understand why only the finest products are served here. The wine list is outstanding.

Very good pasta, in a variety of variations! The staff is friendly, a bit over-enthusiastic, but still very accommodating. Prices are reasonable, and we'll be back!

The staff is very friendly, but their attention could be better. If you get a dirty spoon and point it out to the waiter, I do expect an apology. The small table lamps on the tables should also be cleared of cobwebs. The kitchen should sort the arugula more thoroughly so you don't end up with yellowed, old leaves on your plate. Otherwise, the food was really good, but I would have expected an apology in such an expensive restaurant.

For us, the best Mediterranean restaurant you can find here. The kitchen is still top class, wonderfully prepared, top! The wine selection is huge and includes three wine cabinets. Everyone will find something here, from good local wine to top wines.

Fantisk mad, betjening og vin. Jeg havde min datter med, og tjeneren sagde at hun kunne få hvad hun ville - de kunne lave alt. Hun bad om gnocchi med smør og parmesan og det var helt perfekt. Vi fik et glas hvidvin som ikke var på kortet, men som alligevel var åbent. Det var en virkelig god oplevelse som kun kan anbefales

This was our third time eating here. The food was delicious each time, and the wine recommendations were always spot on. The service is fast and friendly, and in the summer, you can even sit outside. The menu is varied and updated seasonally. Absolutely fantastic cuisine!

Ein wahres Gaumenerlebnis! Vom freundlichen Empfang bis zum liebevoll gedeckten Tisch – im Casa di Roma fühlt man sich sofort willkommen. Der Aperitif stimmte perfekt auf das vorzügliche Menü mit passender Weinbegleitung ein, jeder Gang war ein Genuss auf höchstem Niveau. Das Dessert bildete den perfekten Abschluss. Das Team ist stets aufmerksam und herzlich – besser als eine Fünf-Sterne-Küche! Ein Besuch, der Freude macht und den wir uneingeschränkt empfehlen können.

Very good food, extensive wine list, very friendly staff

Be careful!!! They are thieves!!! They insist at the beginning of the meal to bring you water. Which we ended up accepting before even having the menu. Result: they charge us €9.50 for the bottle of still water!!! A disgrace!!! Furthermore, the food is bland, tasteless, very expensive compared to other much better Italian restaurants!!! In short, avoid at all costs.

The "Casa di Roma" in Hamburg. A great restaurant with pleasant, attentive, and friendly staff. The dishes on offer, whether starter, main course, or dessert, are a delight rarely, if ever, found in Italian restaurants. Not your typical Italian restaurant around the corner. Something special. The prices are high, but reflect the quality offered. Sunday seems to be a good day to visit the restaurant here. As a highly satisfied guest, I will certainly enjoy Italian dishes there again.

The food and service were truly first-class. The gentleman who served us was super friendly and always on the ball. He noticed immediately when our glass was empty and came over right away. He also came in between to tell us how long it would take until our food arrived. The portions could have been a bit larger, but you could definitely taste the top-notch quality and the handmade nature of the food.

We came here for a four-course meal as part of a larger group, and the taste and quality were simply excellent. The food arrived at almost the same time for everyone, so the wait was a maximum of two minutes for everyone to receive their food. The service was very attentive, friendly, and unobtrusive. Wine was refilled throughout, if requested. The ambiance is wonderful and harmonious. We were completely satisfied and will definitely come back again.

Everything is just right: the selection of dishes, the quality of the processed food, the premises, the atmosphere, the timing of different courses, the wine selection, the service is excellent! Caesar Piatkowski deserves special mention. When we reserve a table, we often specifically ask which one. Area he is responsible for that evening. I have rarely seen someone in a restaurant who is able to create such a friendly and courteous atmosphere.

Visitamos la casa di Roma por primera vez en agosto de 2024. Como estábamos de vuelta en Hamburgo en abril de 2025 solo por una noche, decidimos volver a visitar este restaurante italiano. El restaurante está situado en una calle concurrida en la calle Georg Hamburg. Rodeado de restaurantes de todas las nacionalidades... turco, italiano, griego, chino y más... mucho más. Casa Di Roma cuenta con una zona de comedor exterior, así como dos zonas interiores. Cada vez que nos hemos sentado en casa en la parte delantera. Esta vez elegimos la pasta fresca con dos tipos de espárragos y langostinos tigre. Primero una chuleta divertida en la casa. El restaurante tiene una vasta bodega, y aunque mi compañero de viaje disfruta de una copa de vino, esta vez me pegué a una coca. La comida era absolutamente encantadora, y el servicio bueno. Sí - este restaurante es un poco más caro que otros en la misma carretera. Pero de alguna manera sabes que la pasta fue hecha con amor y cuidado, y los ingredientes son de calidad. ¿Volvería por tercera vez? Sí, claro que lo haría.

Esta fue nuestra segunda visita a este restaurante. Disfrutamos de una comida de excelente relación calidad-precio de su menú de almuerzo, sentado fuera en la terraza en la parte trasera del restaurante. El servicio fue profesional y divertido. La comida (ensalada de cortesía, 1 linguini con filete, 1 hígado de ternera) era delicioso. Los vinos de la casa fueron servidos generosamente y muy aceptable. Definitivamente volveremos!

We had a very tasty meal and were able to enjoy several courses, from the usual bread dish first, the antipasti, the main course also a sweet dessert (and of course espresso). The Italian from the service was credible and spoken quickly. Certainly not the cheapest "pizzeria", but worth the money, upscale Italian atmosphere with very good food.

Unfortunately not as good as many people have described. The food is completely overpriced. Hygiene unfortunately underground. They try to cover up a lot with good service. I lived right there in the house for many years and saw what it was really like there. A lot of hype about nothing. There are much better Italians!! Don't be blinded by the positive reviews!

Food is basically okay, but not amazing. Unfortunately, I find the price-performance ratio to be unbalanced. If you charge such margins (e.g. wine), I also expect very good service, which was unfortunately missing on the evening of our visit. I can positively highlight the selection of wines and dishes, but I would recommend “less is more” this time. Maybe then the stress level of the staff wouldn't be so high... But everyone was very friendly and the atmosphere is inviting and pleasant for me personally. All in all, a recommendation if you just want something nice to eat quickly and centrally in the evening and aren't too concerned about the price. For culinary delights I would prefer other addresses.

Restaurant outside of the city. It was a bit cool in the front area and the ambience didn't change that. The food was average and minimal for the price. I was there on Saturday afternoon and there was very little going on. The espresso at the end was very bitter and no longer hot. The bottom line is that I've eaten much better for the same money.

Carbonara complete disaster with curdled egg, otherwise top food

Went to see a play in Hamburg and this was one of the restaurants that was open late. The baby calamari, veal liver with mashed potatoes and the pasta were very tasty, perfectly balanced in taste. The way the dishes were presented was also very nice to see. The staff was super friendly and often came to ask if everything was okay. The atmosphere was very quiet and the two of you could have a nice conversation. I can only recommend it to everyone for a meal for two or more.

Sorry, the carbonara was a disappointment - egg was cooked way too hot & no guanciale to be seen. Everything else was okay. But the prices don't say "our food is just okay". And this is one of the places where you have to be VERY careful when ordering fish main courses because you might be surprised when the bill arrives. Didn't happen to me but to my colleague. First time last time - sorry again. But the ambiance is quite nice for such a huge place.

Terrible Service – Reservation Ignored, Rude Staff We booked a table for two at Casa di Roma two days in advance for February 14th from 18:00 to 20:00, and our reservation was confirmed. Today, I decided to double-check, only to be met with an incredibly rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful receptionist. He interrupted, spoke rudely, and made it clear that he did not care about the situation, dismissing us with a blunt “No. I can’t help you. Do whatever you want.” We were polite the entire time, yet he refused to check other booking records and simply told us to wait for the boss at 17:00, which was almost the start of our planned dinner. No customer service whatsoever. If he cannot assist guests, perhaps he should work elsewhere. We are beyond disappointed – our Valentine’s dinner was ruined. Sharing our experience so others can be aware.

Very classy Italian restaurant with a good selection of high-quality dishes from beef carpaccio to entrecot to truffle pasta. Exclusive wine list. The waiters are very attentive and give good recommendations. In terms of price, you have to expect at least €80 per person for the starter, main course and dessert. But it's worth it!

My absolute favorite restaurant. Cozy atmosphere, fine cuisine, delicious wine and very friendly service. You are always greeted very friendly by the owners and given your table straight away. We ate here with the family, made a reservation and got a large table in the back of the restaurant for ourselves. The table was beautifully set and the seating was very comfortable. The children were warmly welcomed and were first given their children's meal without much chichi, which was wonderful. We had a really excellent meal in peace and quiet, were served very well and can only recommend this restaurant.

Der Kellner Daniel stand völlig neben sich. Nach dreimaliger Bestellung der Getränke und 35 Minuten Wartezeit hat er unseren Aperitif vergessen und nur das Wasser gebracht. Mit der Entschuldigung, er wäre auch nur ein Mensch und mehr als laufen könnte er nicht. Den Rest des Abend hat er uns 20 mal gefragt, ob alles ok ist. Das Essen war lecker, aber hat uns durch den schrecklichen Service den Appetit genommen.

Wir waren geschäftlich in Hamburg und sind per Zufall hier gewesen. Super Restaurant, Calamaretti als Vorspeise, ein kleiner Zwischengang mit Trüffelnudeln, dann ein Stück Lammkrone. Alles vom feinsten, dazu sehr guter Wein und eine sehr aufmerksame Bedienung. Natürlich nicht ganz preiswert, aber aus der Perspektive eines Münchners angemessen. Danke und gerne wieder!

St Georg is alive and quivering in terms of taste. I used to live around the corner myself. The origin of the taste quake is the real Casa di Roma. We then consciously made it into the “original”. I was here a long time ago and a lot has happened. In the back area there are now very comfortable areas for larger groups, where you can sit between wine equipment and Louis XIII bottles. Space, but not too big. Crazy atmosphere. The service is very friendly and competent, special requests were made possible despite the Christmas stress. Gracie mille. The daily menus are very varied, the truffle pasta intermediate course is absolutely delicious. The main courses fillet, scampi or tuna tartar were very, very good. Visually and taste-wise. The Sicilian white wine was able to guide us well through the starters. For the main course we chose The Dead Arm (McLaren Vale) and a Sancerre from the Loire. Don't worry, there are tons of good Italian wines, but having such a wide, great wine list is just tempting... the dessert was on point, my sorbet wasn't too heavy. And of course, the espresso macchiato here is world class. St George, my pearl. Keep it going. See you soon again in the real “Casa di Roma”

I was eating there yesterday and the tartare was horrible! My waitress brought me the wrong food and drank my coffee. The €100 each wasn't worth it!
