La Serenissima in Hamburg

Very long wait for drinks and food, limited menu, and the specials on the blackboard were sold out. At least the pasta was cooked al dente, but the pizza dough was more like a cake batter – that has little to do with Italian cuisine. The staff seemed unmotivated that evening. The room was very noisy; normal conversation without shouting was nearly impossible. In short, definitely not again.

We have been here twice in the past week as a family of 4. The staff are lovely, food is delicious and is served quickly. 1 pasta meal is enough for 2 kids.

The pizza was okay, but nothing more. The atmosphere is very loud, with a tiled floor and little "decoration" to absorb the sound. We asked for a free table in the corner of the restaurant, but were asked to sit in the middle. The other table was kept free for any additional five people who might arrive. It was strange, though, that both tables were only set for four. As we were seated, a reserved sign was quickly put up. Oh well :( The best part came last: There were six other people in the restaurant, including us, so the chairs were put up at all the free tables. That would never have happened under the previous owners. Eddi and Luciano: we miss you.

We visited this restaurant several times, but found it had nothing to do with Italian cuisine. Pasta and vegetables are often overcooked or served practically raw. Side dishes at lunch are often inedible (e.g., broccoli, cooked to a mushy consistency). The pizza was dry, on a thin, flat base, and completely flavorless—a disgrace to Italian cuisine. The arugula salad we ordered consisted of a simple bunch of leaves, a few tomatoes, a few thin slices of mushrooms, and Parmesan cheese, all drizzled with a strange, viscous dressing—not a proper salad. Conclusion: Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this restaurant.

Wine selection requires improvement.

A varied lunch menu, the many full tables speak for themselves.

A warm and friendly atmosphere arises as soon as you enter the restaurant. The hostess has an aura that immediately draws guests into a positive atmosphere, making them want to enjoy the evening to the fullest. The daily specials on the slate board are lavish! And the dish was beautifully prepared, flavorful, and simply DELICIOUS! The prices are therefore justified by the good quality of the service and food, and given the 90% capacity on a weekday, they are probably more than acceptable. Love it!

Very tasty, nice staff - gladly again! True to the motto: ugh on the outside, yuck on the inside. Looks really inconspicuous but really authentic Italian cuisine!

Ein vom Ambiente her unscheinbares italienisches Restaurant. Aber eine bemerkenswerte Küche. Sehr gute hausgemachte Nudeln mit leckeren Soßen. Die Pizza ist eine Überraschung. Der Teig ist anders als bei anderen Pizzen aber sehr knusprig und lecker, der Belag sehr lecker.

Delicious food, good value for money. Antipasti platter for €11 is not the highlight. Ambiance ok. The lady seemed a bit confused when ordering and it took a long time for the food to arrive. Very high noise level.

We ended up in this restaurant by chance. From the outside it's a rather inconspicuous Italian. But inside it looked very attractive. The service was very friendly. As the restaurant slowly filled up, it became a bit confusing for the wait staff. The board with the current menu was carried from table to table. The food was perfect. If we were here in Hamburg longer, there would certainly be another visit there. It is recommended to reserve a table.

Super nice and small Italian. The menu is still handwritten and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Actually always found space and had good experiences. The employees could have been a little more motivated, but that wasn't a big deal either. Highly recommended.

New hospitality since 2023! An ice cream parlor, too! La Serenissima is both, at least in summer. In winter there is more of a small ristorante around the corner. The furnishings are simple and sober, wood and table runners characterize the room. In summer you can enjoy and relax on the simple terrace.

Serving a table for the evening can't hurt. We were visiting HH and our friends invited us. A small antipasti platter as a starter: plentiful, varied and good. Then a main course from the menu: homemade parpadelle with veal ragout. Also a nice, tasty dish that would have been given a little kick by half a cherry tomato or something green. Overall conclusion: service very friendly, food good, although not exceptional. Atmosphere okay. Overall: Recommended - also because of the reasonable prices.

I've known the restaurant for decades and it's always been great. Unfortunately, since the change of ownership, it's no longer what it used to be. My spaghetti ice cream was a disgrace for the price. The pasta dishes are still good. The atmosphere is no longer the same and the staff was very unfriendly.

Ordered pizza to pick up, it was actually quite tasty, very thin base (similar to tarte flambée) but the large one is disappointing for the price, nothing to fill you up, more like a side dish.

We were presented with a varied daily menu by very friendly staff. Together with the starters and dishes on the menu, we were offered a wide selection of pasta, pizza and meat dishes. The food was freshly prepared and of absolutely high quality and delicious. The staff was quick, friendly and always had a smile on their faces. We will definitely visit La Serenissima again.

Helt tilfældigt går vi ind på La Serenissima, for at spise frokost efter vores ankomst til Hamborg. Vi får ærlig og fantastisk veltillavet mad baseret på gode råvare. Anden gang vælger vi, at spise til aften og igen gentager den gode oplevelse sig. Hver gang er der brød og salat til at starte med. Indehaverne er det sødeste værtspar og man ser deres glæde og passion for deres restaurant. Serenissima er et besøg værd og en oplevelse man bliver glad for at tage med sig.

Without a doubt the best Italian restaurant in Hamburg. Impeccable and adorable service, and delicious homemade dishes. And what about the succulent desserts: panna cotta, tiramisu and exceptional homemade ice creams. I highly recommend this address which has very good value for money.

An Indian team, an Italian cook and very, very good homemade dishes!! All at a very affordable price!!! The pana cota is excellent, the grilled tuna with vegetables is succulent, the vegan pizza is fantastic!!! For the rest of the menu, I cannot give an opinion, but given the excellence of the dishes I had I can only speculate positively on the other dishes!!! I recommend!!!!! We even took a detour to come to this restaurant while we were in the center....

Ich liebe dieses kleine Restaurant mit seiner vorzüglichen Küche und dem immer herzlichen Service. Es ist stets weit und breit die beste Wahl für ein Mittagessen. Die große Auswahl an Tagesgerichten auf der Kreidetafel zu wirklich fairen Preisen bietet für jeden Geschmack das richtige. Daher klare 5 Sterne und eine unbedingte Empfehlung!

Spontan das erste mal Essen abgeholt . Die Mahlzeiten waren sehr gut gelungen und der Aperitif (Aperol) während der Wartezeit war hervorragend zubereitet! Vielen Dank und bis zum nächsten mal !

This is my absolute favourite restaurant in Hamburg. The food is always fantastic and no matter what me and my wife order we are always delighted with our meal! Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for delicious food to eat in Hamburg. Sind durch Zufall bei unserem Hamburg Besuch in der netten, kleinen Trattoria gelandet. Das Personal und der Chef waren sehr freundlich. Das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Kommen gerne wieder!

Für eine Pizza am Abend zum Mitnehmen war es ein gelungenes Lokal. Kurze Wartezeit, leckeres Essen. Etwas zu lange im Ofen gewesen, aber generell eine gute Qualität. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, kein Grund zur Beanstandung. Für die Bedienung am Tisch ist somit leider keine Aussage zu treffen.
