Carpe Diem in Bad Saarow

We were guests at "Carpe Diem" twice at the weekend and can highly recommend it. The food tastes very good and is freshly prepared. The service is very attentive and friendly. We felt very comfortable.

It was our first time here and we reserved in advance. The menu is small but sufficient and has something for every taste. We decided in advance for a small solyanka, which was very tasty. What particularly pleasantly surprised and pleased me was when the used napkins were cleared away and there were new napkins for the main course. You rarely have that these days, even in high-priced restaurants, and that always annoys me. For the main course we chose the schnitzel and the pork medallions and these two dishes were also completely convincing. The warm manner of the owner, with whom you could also have a little chat, rounded off the whole positive impression. Very good value for money. We would have loved to come back again, but unfortunately the vacation is over. We wish the owners all the best.

We had dinner at Carpe Diem twice during our stay in Bad Saarow. The first time we went there we ate the schnitzel with fried potatoes and the pork fillet medallions with mashed potatoes. The second time we took the medallions again as well as the solyanka and the “Berliner style” meatballs. We liked all the dishes very much and the meatballs were a shame (they were so delicious) to dip them in the mustard. What should perhaps be changed is to rename the medallions to minute steaks, since in our eyes they weren't medallions. But that didn't detract from the good taste. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very familiar and super friendly and we felt really comfortable. All dishes were freshly prepared and arrived promptly. Since the restaurant is small and there are only a limited number of tables available, you should definitely reserve in advance. We could understand the landlady that she unfortunately had to turn away guests who had not made reservations, as this is otherwise not manageable as a two-man operation with limited space in the restaurant and in the kitchen and it is to the detriment of the beautiful, relaxed atmosphere Service would go. The price/performance ratio is great. We would definitely come back as we really enjoyed it.

As connoisseurs of meat preparations, we were very disappointed with our visit to Carpe Diem on September 8th, 2024. We have been eating here for years when we visit Bad Saarow and it has always been nice. The atmosphere may have been welcoming this time, but the main course and the owner's (the chef's) handling of my feedback left a lot to be desired. On the menu I ordered “pork tenderloin medallions with mashed potatoes, stewed onions and cucumber salad”. Pork tenderloin, also known as tenderloin or sirloin, is the most tender and lean cut of pork, coming from the back part near the spine. It is cut into medallions - small, round slices that can be quickly fried. What I was served, however, were two pieces of minute steaks, thin cuts about 1cm high that come from the ham or shoulder of the pig and are quickly fried over high heat. These are significantly less lean and more grainy than pork tenderloin, even when pork tenderloins are pounded flat - which is unusual - they are never as thin and steak-like in appearance as what I was served. The meat served bore no resemblance to the thick and tender medallions expected. When I politely raised my concerns, the owners were unreceptive. The owner came to my table, showed me an unused piece of pork tenderloin and claimed that this was the meat they were using. However, it was obvious that the meat shown was not what ended up on my plate. This action seemed more like a production that didn't take my professional concerns seriously. Instead, it was assumed that I had no idea what I was talking about, and the owner's reaction was dismissive and aggressive. Another note from me: Due to the smaller diameter of the pork tenderloin (6-7 cm), it is difficult to cut steaks from it that are the size and shape of typical minute steaks, which are wider and flatter. Minute steaks are usually cut from larger and flatter cuts such as the pork loin or shoulder, which makes it possible to obtain wider and thinner steaks that cook quickly. If the pork tenderloin is lying on your cutting board like an oblong roll, you should actually make vertical cuts, similar to cutting bread. The goal is to cut against the grain of the meat. The fibers run lengthwise through the fillet, and cutting vertically (across the fibers) produces tender pieces because the fibers are shortened. The fillet medallions have a typical thickness of 1 inch (2.5 cm) when cut. So much thicker than the thin 1 cm steaks I had on my plate. Instead of responding to my comments, the chef (and co-owner) suddenly banned me and my wife from entering the restaurant just because I had kindly pointed out the discrepancy between the menu description and the dish served. This reaction was both surprising and extremely unprofessional. The owner, who was present during the incident, appeared nervous and visibly embarrassed by her husband's aggressive behavior. The situation was far from the professional and hospitable behavior I would expect in a restaurant. I hope this feedback helps the restaurant improve its communication and customer relations so that future guests can have a more pleasant experience. We will no longer eat at Carpe Diem in Bad Saarow in the future - especially since we were forbidden to do so.

I was alone in the restaurant around 4 p.m. today and just wanted to eat something quick. Unfortunately I was shown the door. The reason was that all tables (inside and outside) were reserved immediately. At the time, there were only two tables occupied outside in the entire restaurant. And I saw that there were tables without a “reserved” sign. I can't imagine what the waitress didn't like about me other than my accent.

I had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful restaurant and I highly recommend it! The service was extremely friendly and attentive, which made the evening even more pleasant. The food was simply fantastic - every dish was fresh, tasty and perfectly prepared. An absolute must for anyone who appreciates good food and excellent service!

Been there for the second time today. Brilliant, crispy schnitzel with great fried potatoes and excellent cucumber salad. Nice service, nice chat. Our new destination in Bad Saarow. Next time will be zander and Tried liver. Other guests had this and were also very satisfied.

During our short vacation in Bad Saarow we discovered Carpe Diem. A small bistro with a manageable menu. There is good German cuisine here. The food was very tasty and inexpensive. The boss serves her guests quickly and also takes time to chat. We felt very comfortable and had a good meal. We can only recommend Carpe Diem.

I was there yesterday with my brother and we were thrilled by the peace and relaxed, friendly manner of the landlady! The drinks came promptly and the delicious schnitzels and hot fried potatoes were a culinary delight for us! We were able to end our visit to the thermal baths close to the thermal baths and the spa paths! Upon request, the landlady took a souvenir photo of us! That was so perfect too! Everything was so clean there! I will gladly come again! Many thanks again to the landlady!

Unfortunately we were sent away very unkindly because the kitchen would only be open until 8 p.m., we were there shortly after 7 p.m.

Gutbürgerliche Küche, die einem das Lächeln ins Gesicht zaubert. Die Geflügelleber mit Kartoffelstampf und Gurkensalat = ein Genuss. Liebevoller, zuvorkommender Service. Was möglich ist, wird möglich gemacht. Das Carpe Diem ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil der Gastronomie in Bad Saarow.

Sind zwei Inhaber Sie macht den Service und Er steht in der kleinen Küche. Es werden die Bestellungen nacheinander abgearbeitet. Das bedeutet mit dem Einman-Betrieb das man bei Hochbetrieb, Zeit mitbringen muss. Kann dann auch mal eine 45Min dauern bis das Essen kommt. Gute Hausmannskost, ehr fleischlastig. Kein großes Chichi.

Ein nettes kleines Restaurant. Eine schöne Auswahl an deutschen Speisen die frisch zubereitet werden. Die Preise sind günstig. Das Restaurant ist sehr sauber und das Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir werden in den nächsten Tagen noch ein paar mal hier Essen gehen.

Wir waren heut mit unseren vier Kids hier essen. Zu erst saßen wir an einen kleinen Tisch, als dann die anderen Gäste gegangen waren bot uns die nette Dame an die Tische zusammen zu schieben. Wir hatten Glück, denn alle anderen Tische waren reserviert. Wir hatten das Gefühl willkommen zu sein. Vor allem waren unsere Kinder willkommen und das ist heutzutage nicht mehr selbstverständlich. Danke dafür!! Das Essen war super! Frisch und liebevoll zubereitet. Hier bekommt man richtig gute Hausmannskost für einen fairen Preis. Macht weiter so. 👍🏼
