Calypso – more than just a visit, it's an experience! Great food, the best drinks around, and an atmosphere where you simply feel at home. A huge compliment to Alisa, the best boss you could imagine, and to Ian, whose calm and friendly manner perfectly rounds off the evening. The work here is done with passion. As a guest, you feel not only welcome, but almost like part of the Calypso family. We felt so comfortable that we closed the place up with the team at the end; it was so nice! Thank you for this unforgettable evening. We'll definitely be back.

We ate at Calypso several times in the evening, either in the non-smoking section or on the spacious terrace. Each time, our meals were very good and plentiful; we particularly enjoyed the dishes on the seasonal menu (in our case, asparagus and chanterelles). The waiter is very friendly and attentive, offering excellent advice if you're undecided between two dishes or drinks. Speaking of drinks: the menu is fantastic with many non-alcoholic options, all of which were soooo delicious, as were the alcoholic ones with the bartender's lovely decorations. Kudos to the entire service and kitchen team: Keep up the great work!

The ambiance is great, the atmosphere pleasant, and the selection of food and drinks leaves nothing to be desired. But what makes the visit special every time is the service – especially waiter Ian! He is extremely attentive, warm, and professional. No matter how busy it is, Ian always has a smile on his face and keeps an overview. You immediately feel well looked after and appreciated. Honestly: Ian should really be given 7 stars! You rarely find service like that – a huge compliment! Calypso is definitely a place you'll want to return to. Highly recommended!

A really cool place, highly recommended. There's a lovely terrace outside for seating, and the staff is consistently friendly and cheerful. The food is incredibly delicious, no matter what I've tried so far.

An upscale restaurant, but with moderate prices. We had lunch there on Saturday (March 15, 2025), lots of space, large selection of classic German dishes and Italian cuisine. Very well made and served. I can happily recommend this restaurant.

Everything was top notch!!! This is how gastronomy works! Food very good! Price performance 100%. We were there for 3 days and ate various dishes: steak, gordon bleu, fish crispy etc. Everything was very good. The Calypso is very nicely furnished and you immediately feel at home there. The main shop is a bit small and unfortunately there aren't many places to linger and it's also a bit crowded, which means the noise level can be a bit higher at times. We discovered it through our voucher book and were craving burgers and absolutely loved it! There is a good selection of burgers and they are not only visually very good but also taste very good! My beef patty was still nice and pink in the middle and therefore very juicy. The cheese, the pickles, the salad, the sauce and the bun were a perfect match🤤 I had the Big Boss Burger and it was a hefty price but it was definitely worth the money! The portion was large and no one should be left hungry. My friend had a burger with pear and gorgonzola, which was not only an unusual idea but also a great taste experience. Calypso has a large selection of cocktails and in summer there is a lovely rooftop terrace that is certainly worth a visit. Unfortunately, on the day we were there, the waitress was very distracted by two acquaintances at another table and was engrossed in private conversations and somewhat neglected us as their guests. But that is certainly not the normal situation. The restaurant was busy, but we didn't have to wait long for our food. Definitely a recommendation!

The pasta with tuna for €18 was absolutely too salty. Nothing but canned tuna mixed with pureed tomatoes. Could have done better at home. Absolutely not recommended. The waitress didn't even smile once in 2 hours.

We actually enjoyed going to Calypso often. Goods, because: I can't understand why a five-year-old wouldn't be allowed to go to the toilet despite asking kindly, as happened this morning. Sure, it's not a public toilet, but with small children sometimes you just have to go quickly. This is actually a given and has never happened to me before...

Wir waren neugierig auf die Dachterrasse … also die Treppe rauf und gefragt, ob es Platz hat. Wir bekamen ein schönes Plätzchen am Rand der Terrasse und im Schatten, es war wirklich schön! Wir entschieden uns für einen Burger mit Pommes frites und Tagliatelle mit Riesencrevetten Alles lecker und die Portionen reichlich ! Der Service sehr freundlich, trotz voller Terrasse. Food was terribly bad, cream schnitzel as dry as the sole of a shoe, service only superficial, and criticism was not accepted. This was my second time as a guest from Braunschweig, both times were disappointing.

Very nice garden terrace on Kaiserstraße, very nice and friendly staff who were always present and attentive. The large salad with strips of chicken breast was beautifully presented and the chicken was fried deliciously and not dry. The Pinsa is super delicious with the best Pinsa dough ever. I was here twice on the beautiful sunny terrace. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. I had the vegan burger and I have to honestly say that it was the best vegan burger I've ever had so far, the pesto as a sauce in it makes the burger unique and the taste is sensational. I also had normal fries that were seasoned with delicious spices. My mother had a mixed salad and she said she gave the salad a 10/10. Dogs are also allowed, which I think is a good thing because you can take your four-legged friends with you without any problems. The toilets give a very luxurious and well-kept impression. The service first class. I was also very impressed by the blue glass water bottles because you don't see such beautiful ones every day. Will definitely come again.

I went there for lunch today with my sister. We ordered two burgers and two Aperol Spritz. The waiter didn't tell us that they had a special offer today: burger + cocktail together for 19.90 euros. It wasn't on the menu either, just on a small board that we happened to see after dinner. Logically, we thought we could take advantage of this offer and asked the waiter when paying and he said that we had ordered an aperitif as a drink and not a cocktail, so we would not benefit from this offer. Aperol Spritz was only 7 euros and cocktails were available from 9 euros, so that makes no sense. We should have ordered more expensive cocktails to take advantage of this offer?? 7 Euro Aperol Spritz isn't expensive enough??? What is the logic of this offer and your restaurant? And why wasn't I informed about this offer? After this bad experience I will never come to you again.

Eine gelungene Abwechslung zu dem restlichen Restaurants in Waldshut mit freundlicher und kompetenter Bedienung. Das Alter der Gäste von ganz jung bis zu älteren Semestern bestätigt das angenehme Ambiente sowie die sehr gute Qualität der Speisen. Herzlichen Glückwunsch. Das Restaurant kann man weiterempfehlen.

We had dinner on the Calypso terrace, which has a pleasant and quiet atmosphere; I can't say anything about the interior. The service was friendly and attentive, the food (asparagus omelette from the seasonal menu, bruschetta and salad with crispy fish) tasted okay, but the price-performance ratio was average (portion size below average). The drinks, especially the wine recommendation with the asparagus, were good.

The tables in the non smoking section are too close to each other.

I visited the restaurant in February 2024 and was very satisfied. Staff very friendly, atmosphere very nice and the food very tasty. 1-2 more vegetarian dishes on the menu would be nice.

Hübsch eingerichtet, freundliches Personal und leckeres Essen.

Sehr stilvolles Ambiente, unsere Gerichte wurden ausgesprochen hübsch angerichtet! Es gab eine Karte passend zur Saison. Sehr lecker, insbesondere auch die Auswahl an alkoholfreien Cocktails, wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt.

Kwamen wat laat aan met groepje om wat te eten. Was geen probleem. Hond ook helemaal welkom! Lekker gegeten en zeker aan te raden.

Local que no conocíamos y nos ha encantado! La comida nos sorprendió ya que en principio pensábamos que sería mes de algo de picoteo al ver que cerraba tan tarde. La pasta que tenían en sugerencias estaba buenísima, era con calabaza y nos encantó. Además las raciones en si son bastante completas, por el cual no te quedarás corto con uno. Volveremos seguro, porque además para ir con algún amigo es genial porque como puedes alargarte tomando una copa (ademas de que tiene dentro del mismo local zona de fumadores y zona no fumadores diferenciada!)

Wir trinken gerne auch mal Cocktails, Top Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis. Egal wie voll es auch sein mag, die Servicekräfte sind aufmerksam und wirklich immer nett und höflich. Hier fühlt man sich Willkommen. Weiter so.

Ich war geschäftlich für 5 Tage in Waldshut und bin zufällig im Calypso gelandet. Obwohl ich alleine da war, habe ich mich sofort richtig wohl gefühlt😊 Nicht nur das Personal war sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und nett, sondern auch die Gäste am Tisch nebenan waren sehr freundlich und nett zu mir😀 Ich habe jedesmal gegessen. Einmal Salat mit Hähnchenstreifen und einmal Bruschetta(3 stück) und Spaghetti mit Pesto. Das essen war sehr lecker und frisch. Ich komme auf jedenfall wieder falls ich wieder in der nähe bin. Ich kann euch nur Empfehlen. Die Musik 🎶ist auch der Hammer😉👍

Sehr gute Burger. Der Gorgonzola Burger mit Birnen sticht hervor. Tolle Combo. Wir wurden freundlich begrüßt und die Bedienung war aufmerksam und freundlich. Im Sommer ist die Terasse sehr schön. Das Lokal selber ist etwas zwischen lauschiger Bar und Bistro.

Wir waren im Calypso zum Mittagessen. Die Kellner waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Obwohl das Restaurant gut besucht war, hatten wir genügend Privatsphäre und konnten uns in Ruhe unterhalten. Das Essen war reichhaltig und gut, aber nicht herausragend. Leider gibt es nur wenige vegetarische Gerichte.

Waren zum Mittagessen dort. Eine sehr freundliche Bedienung. Wir hatten das Rindsfilet bestellt, ein Traum👍🏻 Eines ist sicher,wir kommen gerne wieder mal vorbei.

War hier mit meiner Freundin und wir fanden das Essen wirklich lecker und den Preis super!! komme gerne wieder! Argentinisches Stake war sehr gut :)!

War schon öfter dort, immer mit leckeren Speisen bei moderatem Preis/Leistungs - Verhältnis. Beim letzten Besuch nun der Hammer: eine Runde Tequila für alle: in 6 von 8 Gläsern tote Fliegen. Diese wurden mit grimmigem Blick und ohne Entschuldigung zurückgenommen. Nun also eine Runde Cocktails: wieder in einem eine tote Fliege. Hier reagierte die Bedienung eher ungehalten, hat das Glas geschüttelt und behauptet er sehe keine Fliege... Tequila nicht auf der Rechnung, Cocktail musste gezahlt werden. Als der Laden leerer wurde wollten wir an einen bequemeren Tisch wechseln, auch das erstmal 5 Minuten unnötige Diskussion. Wirklich schade aber für uns alle ein Grund nicht mehr in diese Bar zu gehen...

Ich war die letzten Wochen einige Male Mittagessen und muss sagen, dass ich von vier Besuch nur von einem behaupten kann, dass ich dies Zuhause nicht besser hinbekommen hätte (ich bin kein Koch). Beim Jägerschnitzel kam die Sosse wohl aus dem Päckchen und die zwei Schnitzel waren trocken und ich hätte auch ein paar frische Pilze erwartet. Das andere Mal gab es Rinderzunge, was ja eigentlich ganz fein sein sollte, leider aber wie beim letzten Mal zu trocken. Es kann ja Mal vorkommen, dass ein Stück Fleisch nicht so toll ist, aber wenn dies mehrmals so ist liegt das Problem wo anders. Leider ist im ohnehin nicht mehr so günstigen Preis nicht einmal ein Beilagensalat enthalten. Bei allem Verständnis für die Probleme der Gastronomie durch Corona, hier stimmt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis irgendwie nicht mehr, in Zeiten von Kurzarbeit und Home-Office muss man sich schon etwas Mühe geben, damit die Kundschaft nicht zu Hause kocht.

Gute Location im oberen Stock und sehr freundlicher Service. Apéro Platte war sehr perfekt. Auch innen schönes Lokal.

Wir waren schon oft im Calypso und können es nur jedem empfehlen. Beste Bar in WT. Und ob wohl wir schon oft hier waren habe ich heute für alle Kaffee Liebhaber ( bin selber einer) das Mega Getränk entdeckt “ Espresso Martini " einfach nur genial.

War mit einem Freund essen und haben den Big Boss Burger probiert. Ich kann mich nicht erinnern schon mal so einen guten Burger gegessen zu haben, einfach top! Von der Fleischqualität bis hin zu den Sossen und Brötchen einfach Hammer! Werd auf jeden Fall wieder besuchen wenn ich in Waldshut bin 👍🏽

Nicht das 1.mal waren wir im Calypso sowohl Sommer als auch Winter. Das beste Fleisch was ich je gegessen habe gibst dort. Die Karte ist zwar klein aber es ist für jeden was dabei. Die Cocktail werden auch frisch zubereiten und sind mega lecker!!! Das Personal ist freundlich und zuvorkommend, Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder zu euch.

Trying rheinischer hof first but no waiter really cared of us, we just went 20m further and stepped into the Calypso which is at the austrian gate within the wonderful old town of Waldshut in south germany. The place was rather crowded with people and we managed to get the last free table. Quickly ordered a selection of dished for lunch. The waiting time for both getting the order done as well waiting for the food was rather average, consider the place was almost booked out, it's acceptable. The food was good, Soup, Carpaccio, Cordon Bleu and Salad, all which was very tasty and in good quality and taste. All that for only 60 Euro, incl. drinks, consider the location which is not too bad. Surely not our last visit. Verdict: +Food +Pricing -Service lacks of international standard

Wir waren Samstag spontan in Waldshut. Im Telecom-Shop gab man als Essenstipp das Calypso gleich im 1. Stock drüber. Was für ein toller Tipp. Die Einrichtung ist warm und gemütlich und stylisch und die Ess-Ecken laden zu trautem Essen ohen Abgeschiedenheit ein. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und das Essen grandios: sowohl Lammteller, wie Cordonbleu als auch Rumsteak ... die Tochter (8 Jahre) durfte eine Benotung zwischen 1 und 10 wählen und nahm 100 :-)) Wir kommen bestimmt wieder, denn die Burger tönten so lecker und sahen auf den Tellern sehr ansprechend aus ...

Wir sind per Zufall in diesem Restaurant gelandet. Die bedienung, das Ambiente und das Essen waren Spitze. Die Preise sind eher im mittleren Segment, aber Qualität hat seinen Preis. Das Restaurant ist sehr zu empfehlen

Nie mehr Calypso. So schnodrig geht man nicht mit Kunden um. Ein unsympathischer NEIN auf die Bitte das Teeglas doch voll zu bringen anstelle von 70%. Das sei eine Portion. Wir sollen uns nicht stören ob solch eine Lapalie! Was für eine egozentrierte Position der Herr „Gastgeber“ hier einnimmt!?!?

Wir waren beide von unsern Burgern komplett begeistert! Chickenburger und Spargelburger. Man sitzt sehr nett auf einer Terrasse und die Bedienung ist aufmerksam und freundlich.

Ambiente it is nice and cosy. Service is quite fast. Prices of food are too high, considering that quality and taste are pretty average. Besides that the food was quite cold. But the presentation was good. I do not recommend this restaurant except if you are a smoker. The good thing is that you have smoke area.
