Cafe Restaurant Waldhof in Hattingen

Coffee and cake (cream puffs made in-house) excellent 👍 Cozy inn. We were welcomed and served very friendly. Will definitely come back.

A very nice café/restaurant where the interior design makes you feel like your grandma used to. We ordered coffee and cake and the Friesian cake was heavenly! We will now stop there more often after a nice hike, which you can do from there on various paths.

Had lunch here today with 10 hikers after a hike in Elfringhauser Switzerland. Normally there are potato pancakes only on Wednesdays, but since we called early today we had enough of the delicious potato pancakes. There was also a starter. We were all very satisfied - plentiful and very tasty. The waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. Wasn't the first and not the last time here. Nice hiking parking lot and great hiking trails in front of the door.

Small and fine. Really great and attentive and nice people. Good selection of cakes, delicious filter coffee in a pot. Not as crowded as other cafes in the area. Dogs welcome. What more could you want? +++

The three of us were out and about in Efringhauser Switzerland today and wanted a good, home-style meal. We spontaneously stopped by the Waldhof and found the atmosphere very nice. The view was great, although it was very old-fashioned inside, it was OK for us to have something different from the city. The service (the older gentleman who gets so much criticism here) was very friendly and pleasant, but...... the tablecloth was dirty, the menu was very meager and no main course was priced under €25 We chose three main courses, including an asparagus schnitzel with triplets 29.95 € without salad and without hollandaise sauce, which for me is simply a part of it. I could have ordered it for €3.90, which I didn't see. The other two dishes were also very manageable, so after our visit to the Waldhof we ate a French fries Cyrrywurst in the vegetable barn around the corner. Considering that there was only an old crowd there, at least when we were there, I think it's outrageous to charge such prices for this quality of food. Price performance was a complete catastrophe for us and therefore unfortunately never again, as many others have already written here.

We were there at coffee time. Waffles, cream puffs and cakes were homemade and super tasty. It's nice to sit there in nature. The service was very attentive. Great. I can only recommend.

Very unfriendly waiter - we were put off again and again despite repeated requests - and left after half an hour of non-compliance - never again!

Unfortunately the wipe tablecloth was very dirty. The young woman who served us was very friendly. Our drinks came immediately. Unfortunately, the mood was in the basement when an old waiter, perhaps the owner, scolded guests really badly for changing tables. Of course this causes confusion for the staff when it comes to table numbers and orders, but the guests didn't know that and there was certainly no malicious intent behind it. That said, and the waiter's nasty behavior was really very unpleasant. We then went somewhere else to eat.

The food tastes really fantastic, but unfortunately the prices are a bit steep in relation to the portion size. There were three of us and none of us were full. The cordon bleu was very small, with some salad and rosemary potatoes. We would have liked to have had more of it - especially given the price (100 euros for three Cordon Bleu, two white wines and a large beer!!!!). It's nice to sit outside with a great view, but unfortunately it was too cold and we sat inside. But unfortunately it was almost colder there than outside. I understand that people are trying to save money with rising energy prices, but I don't want to sit in a restaurant with a jacket on and be cold. Unfortunately, the toilet is also ice cold. It's also a shame that you can't change the side dish and that the waiter doesn't pour you the wine (at the price of 9 euros per 0.2l carafe, the service should actually be included, right?). It's great that there is always hot food and that you can pay by card.

In contrast to my review about a year ago, the service today, on the weekend, was not available at all. After waiting 20 minutes we left again.

Absolut empfehlenswert, hervorragende Küche perfekter Service. Das hat uns wirklich Spaß gemacht und das Essen war wunderbar. Vielen Dank wir kommen wieder.

Delicious food, nice atmosphere, ambience well, really nice area like on vacation, great for walking. One of the few remaining restaurants in the Felderbachtal...it's nice that something like this still exists

The café is beautifully located and the view from the terrace is wonderful. The selection of cakes is very large and it tastes really good!

Like on vacation Even though we were only here for coffee, We enjoyed the homemade cake and good coffee on the terrace. A beautiful circular hiking trail sweetened this little break for us.

Sehr freundliche Bedienung auf der Sonnenterrasse, toller Kuchen

Das Restaurant liegt zentral. Von dort kann man in die umliegenden Wälder wandern. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und zugewandt. Das Essen kam sehr schnell, war toll angerichtet und schmeckte sehr gut. Wir haben draußen gesessen. Wegen der Pferdeställe gab es einige Fliegen. Wir kommen bestimmt bald wieder.

Roch auf dem Parkplatz schon nach Frittenfett. Nicht einladend

Unsere Wandergruppe (10 Personen) wurde herzlich begrüßt. Die bestellten Kuchen/Torten, insbesondere der Windbeutel waren sehr lecker. Der Service war noch von guter "alter Schule". Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis hat bestens gepasst. Vielen Dank

Sehr leckere Windbeutel gegessen. Draußen sitzt man sehr idyllisch und ruhig, man kann dort gut genießen.

Leider keine Windbeutel mehr da gewesen Kuchen habe ich schon bessere gegessen Aussicht und Lage toll Service ok

Eine sehr positive Erfahrung. Vergangenes Wochenende hatte ich für eine Übernachtung eine Ferienwohnung im "Waldhof" gebucht, weil ich zwischen zwei langen Wanderungen in der Gegend dort essen und übernachten wollte. Die Ferienwohnung überraschte mich im (teil-) renovierten Zustand, den ich von den Fotos gar nicht erwartet hätte. Hier wäre es daher gut, die Bilder der FeWo auf der Homepage anzupassen. Sauber war es obendrein. Im Restaurant wurde ich prompt von einem freundlichen Kellner bedient - allerdings war ich auch gerade der einzige Gast, sodass ich die Geschwindigkeit des Service hier eigentlich nicht realistisch beurteilen kann. Nach meinem Hinweis auf eine Unverträglichkeit erklärte der Kellner mir einmal die komplette Speisekarte um mir einen Überblick zu geben, welche Gerichte für mich möglich sind. Auch konnte bei meiner Wahl dann einfach eine Zutat weggelassen werden. Einfach top, so wünscht man sich das. Insgesamt war mein Aufenthalt im Waldhof wie ein Kurzurlaub - ich hätte noch länger bleiben können bzw. werde gerne noch einmal wieder kommen.

Mega gut abgeschmeckt aber bitte ohne die rosa Pfefferberen im Salat. Ich mag Pfeffer aber der Geschmack ist brutal stark.

Sehr freundlich, die Getränke und Windbeutel kamen schnell und es war ebenfalls sehr lecker. Die Einrichtung ist sehr veralter, aber dies ist natürlich auch einfach Geschmacksache...

Wir waren früher immer sehr gerne zum Kaffeetrinken am Wochenende dort. Man sitzt schön mit Blick ins Grüne. Leider waren die letzten Besuche enttäuschend. Mit Vorfreude auf die beworbenen Waffeln kamen wir an und jedes Mal waren die Waffeln aus oder es wurden an dem Tag keine gemacht. 4x passierte uns das, sogar als wir bereits um 15 Uhr dort waren. Und immer war die restliche Kuchenauswahl sehr klein. Inzwischen gehen wir öfters zur Konkurrenz, da die immer Waffeln haben. Sehr schade!

Sehr nettes Personal und super Essen

Mitten in der Elfringhauser Schweiz liegt dieses schöne und sehr saubere Café Restaurant auf einer kleinen Anhöhe, von der man sowohl von innen als auch von der tollen Aussenterasse einen traumhaften Blick ins Grüne hat. Wir waren zur nachmittags Zeit hier und hatten uns draußen ein schattiges Plätzchen ausgesucht, bestellt haben wir Apfelkuchen mit Vanilleeis und Sahne, dazu Cappuccino und Kaffee. Der Ober war sehr freundlich und lustig, dass trug irgendwie zum Wohlfühlen mit bei 😉, und wir genossen den wirklich leckeren Kuchen. Neugierig war ich auf das Innere des Waldhofs: die Einrichtung ist zwar nicht ganz so modern, aber es ist sehr sauber und einladend, ebenso die Sanitärräume: alles blitzblank und wohlduftend, toll !! Zudem gibt es hier viele Aktionen was das Essen angeht, sowohl in der Woche als auch im ganzen Jahr über, wir waren echt sehr positiv überrascht und wissen jetzt schon, dass wir auf jeden Fall wiederkommen werden. Parkmöglichkeiten gibt es ausreichend rechts nach der Auffahrt zum Restaurant. Sehr freundliches Personal, Sauberkeit top und leckere Kuchen! Prima und absolut empfehlenswert!!

Der Kuchen war lecker und ein toller Kellner

Ein sehr schöner idyllischer Ort, für Kaffee und Kuchen. Zum Mittag essen ist die Speisekarte leider sehr geschrumpft, was mich hier leider nicht mehr hinlockt, auf jeden Fall nicht zum Essen.

Echte und gute Kochkunst wie kaum mehr anzutreffen. Sehr zuvorkommende Bedienung. Angemessenes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Sehr zu empfehlen.
