Cafe Restaurant Sielhof in Neuharlingersiel

A very nice restaurant – a truly fantastic location – but unfortunately, the food quality is lacking. It's a real shame.

My husband and I discovered this restaurant today and were very pleased. Plenty of space between tables, friendly and quick service, and the food was really good. Highly recommended.

The food is very good, perfectly seasoned. The service, except for one young man, is all friendly and pleasant. A bit chaotic. The young man still has a lot to learn, especially with his facial expressions when someone tells him something. And you don't skim the beer foam with a spoon, only to then spoon it back onto a beer that's been sitting for a while. I noticed a few no-gos, but the food is absolutely top-notch.

I was last at the Sielhof last year, on my birthday! As always, I was absolutely thrilled with the ambiance, service, and quality of the food. And so I confidently went there for dinner this evening as part of my vacation. But then... The service was unprofessional, the ambiance was nothing like it used to be. And the dish presented was abysmal. In the dish on the "Extra Grilled" menu, the pieces of meat, including the steak, were grilled to absolute death, like a shoe sole. When asked how it tasted, I replied, "Okay." Since the tip was accordingly short, the change was thrown on the table! The bottom line: I won't be visiting this formerly great restaurant again! What a shame! And I can judge the service very well, as I come from a gastronomic family from North Rhine-Westphalia!

Unfortunately, the food was cold and the rump steak was overcooked. They didn't ask how you wanted your steak. And the food arrived after a long wait.

We were completely impressed by the Sielhof Extra Restaurant & Café! The ambiance is stylish and cozy – perfect for a relaxed dining experience. The menu is varied and lovingly prepared. Our food was outstanding – freshly prepared, delicious, and beautifully presented. The service was attentive, friendly, and very warm – you feel welcome from the very first moment. The coffee and homemade cakes in the café area are also highly recommended! An all-round successful visit – we would definitely be happy to return and can highly recommend the Sielhof Extra!

We are very happy that a new tenant has been found for this unique restaurant. We have been enjoying the beautiful historic ambiance with its magnificent view for several years! The quality of the food is in no way inferior to its predecessor and impresses with its culinary excellence, even though the menu has been expanded! We will definitely be back – also to observe the growing collaboration of the service team.

Nach der Übernahme durch die neuen Pächter, ist es eine Katastrophe! Sehr lange Wartezeiten auf das Essen, min. 45 Min., Bedienung sehr unfreundlich und unpassend gekleidet (enge Legins, rückenfrei, bauchfrei, schulterfrei ) Essen, hatte einen Grillteller mit u.a. Kräuterbutter. Als das Essen kam, war es schon so kalt, dass die Kräuterbutter nicht mehr geschmolzen ist. Auf die Info, dass wir zahlen wollten, wurde erst 15 Min. was anderes gemacht und dann konnten wir endlich zahlen. Beim Abschied wurde unser Gruß noch nicht mal erwidert. Schade für das tolle Gebäude, dass so eine Bewirtung jetzt dort stattfindet@

We were assigned a side table without any apparent reservation. Apparently, everything else was reserved. That's definitely not the case... see picture. Even without a suit, I want to be treated properly. The food was otherwise okay and about worth the price.

We were loyal guests of the Hafen Extra in Aurich for the past few years and were sad to learn that it's no longer there. It's all the more wonderful that the owners are now located at the Sielhof. Unfortunately, Neuharlingersiel isn't exactly around the corner, but it's easily accessible via a bike ride. The food continues to be of a high standard, and we were pleased that the dishes made it from Aurich to Neuharlingersiel and that the menu hasn't been completely overhauled. We will be stopping by here regularly on vacation in the coming years. The seating in the garden is lovely, and the ambiance inside is also very pleasant.

The new management is doing the restaurant a world of good. The menu is extensive, the quality is recognizable and evident, and the service is good and attentive.

The food tasted good, but unfortunately it was only lukewarm, which wasn't a good thing. The service is young and new and needs to be more attentive; sticking a spoon in the food is unprofessional, but otherwise everything was good.

We've already been to the restaurant three times for lunch and enjoyed delicious food and drinks! Everything was impeccable and delicious! Today we went to try out the "new" Sielhof. We were very satisfied; the food, the ambiance, the service—everything was just right. Just as good as the "old" Sielhof, which we always enjoyed.

For several years, a visit to the Sielhof restaurant has been a staple of our vacations, and we've always been satisfied. The ambiance is very cozy, especially the winter garden by the Siel. Since this year, the Sielhof has been under new management (operator/tenant). The service staff are very friendly. The menu has changed, and so has the taste of the dishes. There's no longer a "Greetings from the Kitchen" menu. We think that's a shame. We had redfish with a herb crust and a grill plate. All dishes were prepared with fresh ingredients. The portions were sufficient. The small side salad, however, wasn't worth the €4.90. One negative thing we noticed was that some guests received a drink on the house. It's clear that you can't demand this. All guests should be treated equally here. We will visit the Sielhof again on our next vacation.

Was soll ich sagen? Ich war noch nie so hin und her gerissen, was das Schreiben einer Bewertung ausmacht. Der Sielhof hat nach unseren Informationen im April 25 mit neuen Inhaber wieder eröffnet. Dies halb sind die alten Rezensionen hier sehr irre führend. Die Speisekarte liest sich sehr gut an. Die Küche liefert auch dementsprechend und hat durchaus mehr als drei Sterne verdient. Aber der Service, da muss noch einiges getan werden, um das Niveau anzupassen. Eine freundliche Info, das es bei der Zubereitung des Bestellten, wegen einer Gruppenbestellung, zu einer längeren Wartezeit kommt, wäre sehr zum Vorteil gewesen. Aber nein, man ging des öfteren am Tisch vorbei, fragte ob alles soweit in Ordnung ist, das wars. Es gibt genügend Begründungen und auch Lösungen dazu. Das Personal im Service sollte immer ein Auge auf die Wünsche der Gäste haben , damit diese die Lokalität gerne ein weiteres Mal aufsuchen. Also zusammen gefasst, Küche 5Sterne, Service leider nur 2. Wünsche euch für die Zukunft ein gutes Auge.

Very friendly and attentive service, a fantastic restaurant in a lovingly preserved historic building. And the food is amazing! Incredibly good and prepared with fantastic, fresh ingredients. Definitely worth a try. Try something different than a fish sandwich by the harbor!

Update on May 14, 2025 The restaurant has new owners. We ate there for the first time today. Unfortunately, the quality is nowhere near what it was before. The food is only average. Today I would only give it 3 stars. It's a shame, because the Sielhof (the building with the outdoor facilities) has an excellent ambiance. A higher-quality restaurant deserves its place here. 1 year ago, 2024. Today wasn't our first time there. We've always been very satisfied. We particularly like the seating in the pavilion. The food is freshly prepared, appetizingly presented, and tastes excellent. The service was very friendly and polite. We will definitely be back and can recommend the Sielhof restaurant with a clear conscience.

Great location! Our main courses were delicious. However, since we have been eating regularly at Sielhof for years, we were a bit surprised by the new tone. There is a happy smile and a complaint (the dessert served did not correspond to the description on the menu) should be discussed. It was taken off the bill, but that wasn't our concern. A “sorry” would have been appropriate (especially in the service area).

Yes, actually zero stars. We had made a reservation last night, but instead of food and drinks there was a locked door at 6:45 p.m. Unfortunately no contact was made even though the telephone number was available. With such an achievement, good luck for your company in the future.

Sehr schönes Restaurant, tolle Küche, aufmerksames und freundliches Personal. In einem ehemaligen Herrensitz gelegen.

Wir waren nach der Neueröffnung das erste Mal im Restaurant „Extra“ und dementsprechend gespannt. Unseren Tisch hatten wir in der Stube oben rechts. Hübsch, aber auch hübsch langweilig. Der Service war anfangs sehr engagiert, gleich 3x wurden wir nach unserer Bestellung gefragt. Als wir dann später bezahlen wollten, hat keiner mehr gefragt, da mussten wir dann auf uns aufmerksam machen. Die Karte war, beliebig. Burger, Steaks, Variationen aus dem Meer. Bestellt haben wir Scampi und Burger. Beides hat gut geschmeckt. Zum Essen kann man sicherlich hier einkehren, einen guten Grund zum wiederholten Besuch haben wir nicht entdecken können.

Highly recommended. Four of us were there for dinner at the beginning of April 2025. The new team at Sielhof was very friendly and attentive. We started with a Mediterranean starter selection, neatly served on a wooden plate. For the main course we had various fish plates. Everything was perfect, the fish was cleanly boned, tasted great, fried to perfection and rich. The ambience is really picturesque, especially in the winter garden with a view of the park. We'd love to come back.

Yes. Ate the “Blue Burger”. Delicious. With pear and blue cheese. Perfectly fried. The salmon on spinach was also great. A little overcooked, but a tasty breading. Everything garnished with pomegranate and garnet. Nicely prepared and friendly served.

I would like to point out that please only read the new reviews, as the current operators have just taken over this fantastic restaurant property on April 25th and form your own opinion. This is my personal assessment as a retired restaurateur. The beginning has been made and I keep my fingers crossed for the Sielhof team. An enrichment not only for Neuharlingersiel!

The two of us had dinner today. We spontaneously ordered the table by phone around 4 p.m. for 6 p.m. It worked too. The rooms are beautifully, simply and brightly furnished. The map is also very nicely designed. To eat there was the plaice with butter which was very tasty. The side salad was also very good and the rosemary potatoes were very tasty. Unfortunately, a cheeseburger was brought instead of a veggie burger. That wasn't a bad thing since we both eat meat, but it was unpleasant. It was more noticeable because of the bill. But we don't want to blame the young waiter for that. Was his second day. The staff was also very friendly. Apparently the operators have only been in the location for a short time.

Re-opening 3 days ago, what luck for Neuharlingersiel. Menu varied, interesting and not at all run-of-the-mill, absolutely reasonable in terms of price. 4 people, 4 different dishes, tried them all over and over again, great. We are totally thrilled. It was a bit of a long wait, but it was more than made up for by the great food and in a friendly atmosphere you can easily pass the time with the good selection of drinks. Cake also looked very good and we need 4 new appointments just for the dessert selection, which is interesting to read. A fantastic location for small wedding celebrations. As a wedding photographer, I've been able to capture some great moments here and I really enjoy being at the Sielhof. The building is very magnificent and looks simply beautiful in the photos.

We had a nice place with a view of the Siele. Unfortunately we weren't offered a meal menu, so we can only rate the drinks. Things were done differently at the other tables and the demand was not met. The food looked good - that's all I can say.

We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Yesterday we had the man's seat plate with fried potatoes. The fried herring was a bit thin, but tasty, the herring and salmon were super good. The ice cream was also very tasty. We'd love to come back. Fun menu for children

Trotz fehlender Tischreservierung bekamen wir für 2 Personen einen schönen Tisch zugeteilt. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, die Räumlichkeiten sehr schön eingerichtet und die bestellten Getränke und Speisen wurden zügig serviert. Die Preisgestaltung war angemessen und verglichen mit anderen Lokalen in der Nähe absolut angemessen. Die bestellten Speisen waren sehr lecker. Wir wären nochmals gekommen, bekamen aber wegen einer Veranstaltung keinen Tisch mehr.

My wife and I found our favorite restaurant on vacation (8 days) and went there three times. It was great 🤩🤩🤩 and everything was perfect👍 If we come back to Neuharlingersiel then the Sielhof would be our first stop again!! Chapeau👍👍👍

We ordered the menu for 34.90 euros. Asparagus, potatoes and cod fillet as the main course. It was tasty, but the piece of fish was about 7 x 7 cm. Even my wife wasn't full. I complained about that, but the waitress didn't care. Conclusion: Paid a lot of money for little food.

Older beautiful historic building. Modern inside, several spaces to sit. Already fine dining. The food was very good, we had a salad with chicken strips and a salad with grilled fish. Served with bread and butter in a glass of salad dressing.

Wir haben uns dort ein Abendessen gegönnt zum Urlaubsabschluss. Sehr schöne Kulisse, historischer Saal, Gemälde und Umgebung haben wirklich Charme. Obwohl alt alles in tadellosen Zustand und gepflegt. Man fühlt sich wohl, sollte aber schon mit langen Hosen und entsprechender Abendgarderobe erscheinen. Eher gehobenes Kundenklientel Essen mit kleinem Kind war kein Problem, alle sehr freundlich, man sollte aber einen Tisch reservieren. Zum Essen, was für sich spricht, siehe Bildern, alles perfekt gegart und gebraten. Der Grillteller mit Edelpilzen war wirklich sehr gut. Lachs mit entsprechenden Beilagen war top frisch und für den Lütten ein ganzes kleines Schollenfilet war top . Zu den Preisen, ich finden es absolut gerechtfertigt bei der Qualität, die Weine sind absolut im Rahmen. Preis / Leistung stimmt hier. Natürlich muss so ein Gebäude unterhalten und alle Leute fair bezahlt werden, ich möchte auch qualitativ hochwertiges Fleisch und Gemüse auf dem Teller und vielleicht eine exklusiven Expresso. Wer davon nichts versteht oder nicht bereit ist dafür Geld in die Hand zu nehmen ist selber schuld und sollte woanders hingehen statt wie in anderen Bewertungen fragliche Vergleiche aufzumachen. Ich kann das Restaurant nur empfehlen ebenfalls die herausragenden Torten und Kuchen des Cafés.

Auf Empfehlung unseres Vermieters hatten wir dieses Restaurant aufgesucht und wurden definitiv nicht enttäuscht. Wir hatten Scholle und Cordon Bleu. Beides wirklich gut, Portionen ausreichend und ein sehr netter und aufmerksamer Service. Es hat wirklich alles gepasst. Warum dann nicht volle Punktzahl wird sich mancher fragen. Die gebe ich derzeit wirklich selten, weil aus meiner Sicht die Preise im Allgemeinen in der Gastronomie in Bereiche kommt, wo es einem das Essen vermiest. Hier war es noch i.O. aber jeden Abend würden wir es uns -auch im Urlaub - nicht erlauben. Aber so läuft es derzeit in der Gastronomie. Hoffen wir alle auf bessere Zeiten...

We would like to thank Ms. Janssen and her team for the absolutely successful execution of our wedding celebration in summer 2023. The entire organization went completely smoothly and to our complete satisfaction. All agreements were adhered to 100% reliably. Both the food and the service were very good. The kitchen seems to work well when it comes to fish, but otherwise my steak was so cold that the herb butter didn't even turn liquid. The meat ordered medium had barely seen the pan The bacon beans were lukewarm, except the fries, which came with plenty, were still hot. Unfortunately, the points were only accepted with a smile

Just perfect. The service was super friendly and fast, the house cake was incredibly tasty 😋, the cordon bleu was one of the best I've ever eaten. Many meals are also available in small portions. Plus the incredibly beautiful ambience. An all-round oasis of well-being, highly recommended.

Beautiful building in the middle of a park; You can dine excellently in the winter garden. There is upscale home-style cuisine and of course various fish dishes are a must on the menu. It was great in 2017 and in 2023 the Sielhof impressed with its ambience, delicious food and great service. We'd love to come back!

A cozy and beautiful restaurant in a historical setting. So far only seen from the outside. We had coffee and cake there this afternoon. We then reserved a table for the evening. Very friendly service and really fantastic food and good wine. We were extremely satisfied and really excited. We recommend.
