We received a very polite and warm welcome. We had an antipasti starter, which was absolutely delicious! For my main course, I had requested fetuccini with prawns with Gorgonzola sauce instead of cream sauce. This was indeed the case, and it was divine! My husband had a carbonara pizza and was equally delighted. Since we had our civil wedding in 2019, we chose the Königshöhe restaurant for a delicious meal and a little celebration afterward. Therefore, this restaurant holds a special place in our hearts. We highly recommend it to everyone!

We wanted to eat on the terrace and waited for over 20 minutes, but no one came to us. No service, no greeting—nothing. In the end, we just left. Very disappointing; this shouldn't happen in a restaurant like this.

We ordered schnitzel with fried potatoes and a cherry spritzer. The potatoes were undercooked, and the schnitzel was as thin as a napkin. It consisted almost entirely of breadcrumbs. The cherry spritzer was bad. The table behind us also sent back theirs. When the waiter asked if everything was okay, we said no, the cherry spritzer was bad. He said I'd bring them a new one. We didn't want a new one; we just wanted to pay and leave. He charged us for everything, including the spritzer. When we asked why we had to pay for the bad spritzer, he said we could have said something earlier, and now it was too late. The glass was still full. Conclusion: It's our own fault that we won't be going back 🤷‍♀️

It wasn't enjoyable. Neither the service nor the three types of bread with aioli, tomato, and tuna were good. Initially, they didn't serve what we ordered (2 aioli instead of tuna). Then, without any apparent understanding or apology, they partially replaced the portion (just tuna sauce). When we asked what we were supposed to spread it on, a slice of brown bread was brought after a while. It was curious that the incorrectly delivered bread with aioli was removed from the plate. We won't be going back. Our complaints were dismissed with a shrug.

The food is disastrous. We celebrated a birthday with 11 people and sat outside. The service was attentive, but completely overwhelmed. They brought a carafe of wine, but no glasses. The plates weren't clean, the lettuce leaves were poorly washed or not washed at all, the schnitzel was fried beyond overcooked, and the aioli was soaked and inedible due to the weather. Despite asking, there was no ketchup or mayo with the fries. A lot of things were forgotten; I can't even remember them all. Only the beer garden and the interior are very nice and cozy. But unfortunately, that can't make up for the rest!

Edit review: I recently ate here on a Sunday afternoon (around 5 p.m.) in early February 2025, and also once in November 2023. The food was so delicious, and the service was incredibly attentive and friendly. The food arrived quickly. The ambiance is either warm and cozy inside the restaurant itself, but a bit louder. Or in the adjacent "winter garden area" (see photo), a bit simpler, but rather quiet, but also a bit chilly in winter. You're also welcome to bring your pet (dog). There's a separate drinking bowl here. In summer, you can also sit outside in the beer garden. The area surrounding Königshöhe is also great for a walk in the surrounding forest before or after a hike. There are some truly magnificent views of the valley and Wuppertal from here. And the Von der Heydt Tower (see photos) isn't far away. I'd definitely love to come back for dinner. 🤗 Maybe sometime in the summer. ☀️🍋🤗 Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos of the classic interior during my visit. It looked very cozy, though.

So overall, it was adequate to okay. The schnitzel was frozen, and the fries and salad weren't great at 17.50, which was unfortunately too expensive given the quality. The pasta with 6 prawns was rather bland in taste and unfortunately not that great. There seems to be a lot of room for improvement here. The service was friendly.

Great, you can sit outside when the weather's nice. The food was delicious, the prices reasonable. The staff was friendly. Unfortunately, some of our cutlery was dirty—it can happen, but it shouldn't. It was quickly replaced, though. And unfortunately, there was no dessert, even though the kids were looking forward to it, since Grandma was paying.

Located high above the forest, it offers a virtually unbeatable view down over Wuppertal, looking from the west of Wuppertal to Elberfeld. The surrounding area is close to the Sambatrasse and is ideal for cycling and walking.

The food was good. Everything was made up, including the outside area. When I pointed out that a lady had placed her dog towel (which she had used to dry her dog beforehand) on the chair, with the wet, dirty dog ​​coat hanging on the chair, I was told that there was nothing to be done about it, dogs were allowed. Very disappointing! The fries were dry, tasted old and cheap, probably from Lidl. The service was unfriendly and I had to repeat my order twice. The toilet was a disaster: dirty, no door, no toilet paper, no soap, absolutely unhygienic. There were stains on the dishes and cutlery. really disgusting. I would prefer to give minus stars. Addendum March 2025: We have now been there twice and were again - as before - very satisfied. The food was good and the service was friendly, attentive and quick. So we'd love to come back! -------------------------------------------------- Yesterday we were there again for a long time; We used to go there regularly. FOOD: the quality of the food may vary, but then we obviously had a mediocre day. My wife ate an "Insalata Pollo". In contrast to before, the portion was “quite clear,” as Loriot would have said. This wasn't made up for by three large slices of toasted white bread; After all, you want to eat a salad and not dry bread with a side salad. I myself ordered a pizza Funghi, which I have eaten there many times. Yesterday there was also not enough toppings and the pizza was quite dry - also because the edge was very wide. Since the prices have now increased by a good 40%, the ratio of price to quality and performance didn't really fit. DRINKS: For us it was a mystery how you could get an apple spritzer, which is stated on the menu as 0.25 l, into a glass that can only hold 0.2 l (according to the calibration mark on the glass)? - As a guest you feel like you've been taken seriously. SERVICE: friendly, but not overly trying. Since there were only a few guests there around 3 p.m., the waiting time for food was clearly too long at more than 15 minutes. AMBIENCE: has gotten steadily better in recent years; The outdoor area in particular has gained significantly. CONCLUSION: As far as the food is concerned, unfortunately it's no longer particularly attractive for us - also because of the portion sizes and the preparation. We look back with nostalgia on earlier times when we always looked forward to visits to the Königshöhe Restaurant and were always very satisfied. It is questionable whether and when we will return there again under the current conditions.

Very good cuisine, try the steak

We have been guests here for many years. Unfortunately, the quality is declining rapidly, as is the service. Once again we sat in front of empty glasses. Unfortunately, the waiter prefers to stand in front of the door smoking and rarely comes, but he is very unmotivated and smells great of smoke from chain smoking. It's a shame, we'll come back when the unkempt waiter is no longer up to mischief there.

The location of the restaurant is great. A beautiful view over Wuppertal. The food is also very tasty, I didn't have a dish that wasn't tasty. Also very inexpensive. Tables could be designed a little more lovingly. Pizza is very good. My conclusion: You can't go wrong here.

Very idyllic restaurant in Wuppertal Küllenhahn in the middle of Burgholz. Numerous hiking trails invite you to take relaxing walks. Afterwards you will find various dishes in the restaurant for small or large appetites. Special features of the menu are schnitzel day on Mondays and pizza day on Tuesdays at affordable standard prices. Overall good value for money!

Family dinner with 6 people in the so-called 'winter garden' in February 2025. It took just under 20 minutes from the order to the meal at the table, everything was served completely, meaning no one had to wait any longer for their food (everything from steak to casserole and pizza was there) . Service was very attentive (asked for often), the food was good (unfortunately the pizza had already cooled down a bit and was a bit weak, even though it was declared spicy). Unfortunately, the cool rooms in the 'winter garden' were NEGATIVE...despite normal heating at level 5 and an additional gas heater installed, it was only 14-15 degrees in this room (temperature app/smartphone). I don't normally mind the cold, but two hours at these temperatures doesn't really make you enjoy eating in February (outside temperature/0 degrees). Despite the beautiful view of Wuppertal, my feet and nose were cold after two hours in the restaurant and I was looking forward to a blanket and hot tea at home. My recommendation: If possible, avoid reserving a longer meal in the winter garden when the temperatures are cold outside. Then choose the warmer main room next door (even if it is a little louder there... but there is plenty of heating there!!!). Unless you are 'The Man in the Mountains' (TV series / 1977) :-) .... Nevertheless, a nice family evening with good, warm meals, but cold showers in between :-)! Needs improvement, Team Königshöhe!

Oh yes, the restaurant on the Königshöhe. Been there many times, every time is a little different. The food was definitely okay, my gnocchi al forno wasn't anything special, but overall it was tasty (somehow the restaurant can't quite decide what it wants to be; advertised as Italian, there are also a lot of rustic dishes like schnitzel, fried potatoes and co). The service is definitely super nice and attentive, the ambience has improved over the last few years, but the area behind the scenes could also use some love. Kitchen noises add to the already quite loud room, so at some point the coziness is over and everyone just shouts at each other... The Königshöhe definitely has cult status. It has always been suitable for a family meal and offers something for everyone. Of course the view is and always has been great!

We tried beef burgers, chicken burgers and salmon. All were very tasty. Only the fried potatoes needed a little more time.

We were there for dinner with eleven people. The employees quickly remodeled for us so that we could all sit comfortably together. Pene al Forno from 8.90 to today 13.90 euros. Oops. Significant increase. Other dishes are also at least €3-5 more expensive. One should update the menu on the internet to attract customers with affordable prices.

As always, the food is TOP!! No matter whether pizza, pasta or burgers. The homemade salad dressing is amazing. The changing special menu always has something great to offer. The Königshöhe team is always super friendly, happy to help with any questions and always pay attention to their guests. The restaurant is also very inviting but simply furnished. The slightly older sanitary facilities are a tiny minus point, but that doesn't mean a star less for me. Looking forward to the next visit.

We were there for dinner on a Sunday afternoon. It was hot, but it was wonderful to sit in the beer garden. Very tall trees provide shade and also ensure that there is pleasant air there. The tables (2, 4, 8) are well spaced out and you don't sit cramped. We ate breaded chicken a la Milanese, pizza, garlic bread. The chicken was great, juicy and so tender that you could cut it with just a press of a knife. I have to be honest, I've never managed chicken like this before. The breading was very tasty, the side salad was also well prepared. My husband really enjoyed the pizza, as well as the garlic bread. We were very satisfied with the food. The service was friendly, but felt a bit uncoordinated. A drink order was forgotten, and the wait for the first drink was a bit long for us, considering it was well attended but not packed. There is some room for improvement here. The waiting time for the food, however, was absolutely ok. We will definitely go there again.

The positive aspects first: The ambience and location is nice and quiet. Unfortunately, that’s where it ends… The staff seems absent and partly disinterested, but we were still offered a better place, which we were very happy about. Unfortunately, from this point on, the experience took a turn for the worse. We ordered two pilsners and received two warm, stale glasses of “beer”. Unfortunately without carbon dioxide, you would almost believe that the old leftovers were dumped here. To make matters worse, at the end we noticed that there were bits floating in the beer, which definitely couldn't have come from us since we hadn't eaten yet. Oh well - it can happen! For dinner we ordered 2 pizzas (1x pizza salami ham & 1x pizza deluxe). This was served after a good hour, which didn't bother us personally as we could see that the “restaurant” was full. However, the waitress' comment when serving was quite astonishing: "Unfortunately it's a bit crispy, if it bothers you, let me know." The “Deluxe” pizza we ordered had more similarities to a cookie than a pizza. Since we finally wanted to eat, we didn't complain about the pizza, but the very fact that they serve something like that is quite incomprehensible to us - here, for example, things could have been lightened up with a small gesture or a price reduction . For 50€ (4x beer & 2x pizza) it's a bit disappointing. Conclusion: if you are looking for a nice atmosphere, you will definitely find it here, but if you expect good food here, you should probably look for something else.

We were there for pizza day and only paid €9.90 per pizza. Something is happening: Since my visit there, some structural measures have been implemented. You now have a comfortable and covered outdoor area. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The pizzas came quickly and were a decent size. I was fed up. My fellow contestants didn't manage to get their pizzas. The dough was crispy and tasty and well topped. What I liked was that when you picked up a slice of pizza, the base basically held up and only gave way slightly. The drinks were quickly brought to the table and payment by card was possible.

We only had something to drink, I didn't find it attractive in terms of price, I thought the prices for the food were OK but as I said I didn't try it. The best thing is really the location.

I wanted to make a reservation for 30 people about a week ago! According to the woman who served us that day, it wouldn't be a problem! Because a group of 30 people had already registered on the same day, but they didn't know which area! In the restaurant or winter garden, she wanted to call me within 2! But she didn't do this!! Today I called again and suddenly it's not possible to reserve the winter garden. I should come by and you'll see if it's a good fit! Just coming over with 30 people to see if it fits is nonsense to me! What do we do if it doesn't fit???? In any case, I think this behavior is impossible!!!!!!!

A good restaurant in beautiful surroundings. Here you can go hiking before or after a good meal. For example, the beautiful and worth seeing Wuppertal Zoo can only be reached on foot through the forest.

Last night we went to the Königshöhe again for a long time for a spontaneous dinner. The weather made it possible to sit on the terrace, which was well occupied. Unfortunately, the comparison to previous visits is not positive. As a starter we ordered a salad for €16.90, which we wanted to share. A bowl arrived half filled with mostly lettuce, a few corn kernels and a few strips of meat. In our opinion, the price and performance ratio is not ok. Cutlery and a small plate each came upon request. The pizza, which we also wanted to share, came straight onto two plates. The topping was delicious, but the dough wasn't baked properly, some of it was still raw and glassy. Cutlery only came again after the pizza was on the table. Salt and pepper are not set on the tables. Overall, both service and cuisine are unfortunately no longer convincing. You miss the really highly motivated service that used to be there. Since we missed a pizza on the menu and asked the waiter about it, we learned through conversation that the owner had changed. Is that the reason for the poor performance?

To a greeting with the words: menu? One of the male employees then took a fairly solid order from a waitress. The meal itself, two schnitzels, was quite small in terms of portion size, especially the side dishes. The quality was fine. We had to wait more than 15 minutes for the bill because the staff preferred to serve other guests, take orders, clear tables and wipe clean after asking for the bill. Although they had already apologized to us once for still waiting, this behavior continued. When they finally came to collect from us, they only did so by stating the amount. Neither a “please” nor a “thank you” nor a “have a nice day” and despite giving a tip that, in my opinion, was now unjustified.

We often eat there... Today the pizza was excellent as always! But changing the starter from bruschetta to tri de bruschetta is, to say the least, an outrage for 8.90 euros! Three thin slices of toasted standard white bread... two carelessly smeared with cream, one with a little chopped tomato and 4 olives... Ingredients max 1 euro - very disappointing!

The Königshöhe used to be an insider tip, back in the day... Affordable prices, narrow and cozy. Yesterday we were there again after a long time and were not satisfied. It was extremely expanded, expanded and pitched. The bottle of mineral water now almost eight euros. Very loud, conversation hardly possible because no sound-absorbing materials were installed. In the end, we had 160 euros on the table for two couples - and didn't eat anything special. The waiter refused to pay us separately for each couple. That wouldn't work, only the total amount. It's a shame, but they won't see us again any time soon.
