Café Ponton in Hamburg

Opgelicht …. Wij zijn hier geweest voor het avondeten. Toen we na het afrekenen de bon vroegen was dit heel moeilijk. De over had “geen papier meer voor de bon”. Na 15 minuten wachten toch de bon gekregen. Toen we de bon later in ons hotel nakeken zagen wij dat er ongevraagd €19,80 fooi op de bon gezet. Helaas zijn wij hier te laat achter gekomen. Meerdere berichten over deze plek als tourist trap!!

Tourist trap!!! Scammed... We sat here for dinner with 5 people. When we asked for the receipt at checkout, this was quite a task. The waiter “ran out of paper to print the receipt”. After waiting 15 minutes we got the receipt. When we checked this receipt at our hotel, we saw that an unsolicited €19.80 tip had been added to our amount. The staff is not transparent about the costs and prefers not to give a receipt due to this scam of the tip amount…

The chicken schnitzel, chips and pizza were all heated from a box and not even cooked properly. The service was very bad and the food is overpriced as it is all from a box.

It's a pretty nice place as such, but that's pretty much the only positive thing about this place. We had seated 4 people all the way to the water, and ordered; for drinks 2 colas and 2 sprites. We then receive 2 colas, 1 sprite and 1 sparkling water with citrus. We tell the waiter, and after about 5-6 minutes receive another sprite. For food, we ordered 3 chicken schnitzels with fries and 1 Caesar salad. We then receive 3 caesar salad and 1 chicken schnitzel. The chicken schnitzel was sort of okay, a bit dry but okay, the fries weren't super exciting and I absolutely advise everyone not to order the caesar salad, as it's rather bland and has a super "interesting" dressing on it. Our waiter was reasonably nice and didn't ask any questions about our problems. However, a little bit long to fix them. The servants also stand and chat and hold the tea party with their friends. When we were finally ready to get far away from there, their card payment machine had run out of power, making us wait an extra 6-7 minutes. The toilet was not very hygienic either, to put it nicely. Stay away for your own good👍

After the meal that was ok but nothing special I wanted to pay with card. As her machine did not work the waitress became unfriendly and aggressive insisting I had to pay in cash. On the way out she even shouted at me . I was shocked by this behaviour and will not ever go there again .

The location is quite nice. But the decor is rather bland and the music is a bit loud for my taste. Unfortunately the service is quite inattentive and slow. My coffee was cold and not particularly good, my companion's tea only tasted like warm water and my other companion's hot chocolate was mediocre. Considering these circumstances, the price is quite cheeky, considering that it is not higher in Café Paris, for example.

The pontoon in Hamburg impresses above all with its great location right on the water - ideal for a stopover, especially if you are exploring the city as a tourist. Of course you notice that the restaurant is also designed for walk-in customers and tourists, but that doesn't detract from the experience. We were particularly pleasantly surprised by the salami pizza, which was really tasty. We've been there several times now and think that, especially when the weather is nice, you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. The Ponton Café is also a nice choice for a relaxed coffee!

Absolutely unbeatable location, the draft beer was delicious - but the service was subpar: in the 90 minutes we were there, several groups left because they weren't served. We also had to wait over 20 minutes to place our order (€7.90 for a large beer), even though the store wasn't completely full. The waitress had a really bitter charm, friendliness and customer friendliness is different.

Fred and Leon were very nice, very good service, very tasty food. Incredibly sweet and Fred and Leon are the best, they were so sweet. Fred and Leon should get a promotion.

We were there on Saturday evening. We immediately had a very nice, attentive waiter there who offered us a table. Food was very good and reasonably priced for the area and the ambience. Drinks completely overpriced (but that's similar in several restaurants there). The waiter was very charming and accommodating. When a second one came along later, it was still ok. We were even brought blankets when it got cooler. At the end the service decreased a bit and you had the impression that the employees were no longer interested or interested. Drinks arrived very late or were forgotten. When the bill came (over €100) you were actually asked if you wanted to give a tip. Despite the cheeky question, we gave some and were laughed at by the waiter for 1.40. On the one hand, I find it strange that the waitress wears a jogging suit (only this one, all the others were well dressed) And then to be laughed at after such a bold question is really more than disrespectful. We'll see if we come back. The first waiter had really ripped out a lot beforehand but the conclusion was very wrong!!!! You should think about it!

If the waitress understands half of it, then only half will be served. Otherwise you will tend to be ignored.

The crispy chicken schnitsel was crispy. Good service, polite servers. Would visit again.

The restaurant invites you to linger. Good drinks, delicious food and nice staff. What more could you want? Plus the location directly on the Elbe. We can only recommend it.

Great food, good drinks, super location & really nice staff. We enjoyed our stay! Note: we needed glutenfree food and the waitress was super nice about it, they had a few options and she already knew what we could eat.

Messy tables, most of which have not been cleared for a long time, are a no-go given the horrendous prices (e.g. 6.50 for a cappuccino!)

The food was just bad. Caesar's salad consisted only of romaine lettuce (brown edges) including stalk, 2-3 small tomatoes, a completely pale chicken schnitzel and shaved parmesan. The dressing had no taste at all. 2-3 slices of baguette. This actually gives 0 stars. Service was friendly, but hectic and loud!!! The non-alcoholic beer was warm. Well, and the ambience... - it was dirty. The table had not been wiped down, there were old (really old!) napkins under the table, the ashtray was on the table filled by our predecessors and had not been emptied. That there is also garbage in the water in the fleet and? swimming didn't make things any better. And then also high prices. This salad cost 22 euros...

I don't know how some reviewers are like that. Or how the store works on other days. Everything was great here today. Food, service, ambience. Therefore full marks. The food etc. is not that cheap now. But you know that after looking at the map. Tip for self-described bargain hunters: just go somewhere else. But in the position of finding something really CHEAP, that's unlikely. Unfortunately, such shops would/are constantly bankrupt. Hence. Regardless, we (Mme et moi) were absolutely satisfied. Quality and quantity of food very good. Red wine (Merlot) as well. There is nothing to explain about Erdinger. The glasses, dishes and cutlery were spotlessly clean. Now please don't show up here in too many numbers. We enjoyed being able to get a table without a reservation. Note: We had all dishes “to share”. No complaining about this. The second dish was served “just like that” on two plates. Therefore, a suitable tip from two very, very satisfied guests would be welcome.

We used it solely as a desperate shelter from sudden heavy rainfall. By mistake we ended up ordering food and drink - only because the rain unfortunately continued. The so-called rhubarb juice tasted like apple juice (but was, according to the staff, rhubarb juice - I said that I think it tasted a lot like apple juice). Nachos for DKK 100 could not be worse served - lousy cheese, salsa and something that was supposed to represent guacamole (we didn't dare taste it😂). The pizza we also bought at a huge overprice was a finished dough with filling of such poor quality that I can't bear to describe it. Brushed teeth as soon as possible afterwards and also ate only approx. 1/6 of the so-called pizza. Never again…!!!…:((

Got a table rather quick, but the waiter didnt bother cleaning it. Pizza was delicious, chicken was dry as the desert. When we wanted to pay the waiter said that they only took cash. I said that was out of the question, waiter dissapeared, came back and suggested Pay Pal. I demanded to see the manager, and then I was offered to pay with creditcard.

The service was nice and the food came quickly, but it was cold and had no taste. Everything else just wasn't pretty. I've never eaten so badly. 😌

We wanted to go out for something to eat by the water on our last evening, the prices are already very high, but we stayed anyway. When we ordered we said that we would like to have something to eat later. Then a lady came by who was cleaning the tables, we then told her that we would like to order.. After her colleague was back and they were done talking, she came past our table again and called out to us, “Oh yes, they wanted to order food!” He says “There is no food today” and laughs 🤷🏻‍♀️ Then we paid for the drinks when he came to the recording. Pasta with pesto almost 19€ Pizza Parma similarly expensive and then such service... I don't want to eat there if you're so unwanted, where do they think their salary comes from? Really annoyed us 👎🏻

I can only agree with the experiences of other guests. We wanted to have a little drink and something to eat in the afternoon and spontaneously stopped by here. A lot of employees were running around, that's no question. Overwhelmed, but many. Since we didn't want to just sit down, we waited at the entrance. At some point the stressed out waiter said “just sit down” as he passed by and so we did. We were no longer noticed or spoken to for the next quarter of an hour. Since we weren't in a rush, we didn't mind it too much and were happy to sit for a while. Just wondering why the restaurant didn't seem to want to make any sales. Other customers also stood there questioning, but very few were served. The whole thing seemed quite disorganized and friendliness was nowhere to be seen. There were incredibly high prices for this. We finally left without even being noticed by anyone. It wasn't bad in our case, but I don't see any good reason why you should come here and leave money there. It's a shame about the actually good location.

Dans une rue piétonne commerçante proche du Rathaus, terrasse agréable au bord d'un canal. Endroit très touristique, carte assez longue, nourriture correcte mais prix très élevés. Selon les serveuses vous serez bien ou mal accueillis.

Total überteuerte Location mit mittelmäßigem Service, einzig die Lage ist gut. Ansonsten hat dieses Lokal nichts zu bieten.

Lekker eten. Slechte bediening. Serveerster stond eindeloos met één tafel te praten en daarna één lege kopje naar de keuken te brengen. Keek niet eens naar anderen van haar tafels en hebben wij bijna half een uur gewacht voordat zij ons eten keus naam. Afin … Best gezellig locatie. Lekker Pino grigio en truffel pasta.

Rude staff! I would avoid coming here, we didn't even get anything in the end, we made our order and the waiter was so rude we left because he questioned what we were ordering and kept sighing! He said we can't have coffee and wine on the same table huh? The other waitress was shouting at us for no reason when we tried to leave after we ordered but we couldn't be bothered and walked out. Do not go here if you have any allergens or specific things you can't eat, they have no alternative choices, no other milk, it's just COWS MILK! No other cafe just has cows milk, it's 2024! We ended up going to a much better cafe with much nicer staff who don't sigh and question what we order. The gentleman who took our order should learn how to speak to people, he clearly wasn't even German either (I speak both English and German) It doesn't feel very welcoming at all, one of the staff members was sleeping on a chair!

Nice atmosphere right in downtown Hamburg. Food was good and we were served well and friendly.

We found the staff lady to be extremely friendly and humorous. We also had a nice table where we were able to watch a family of ducks. Unfortunately, the taste of the food left room for improvement. My truffle fettuchines tasted delicious, but for personal taste they could have been cooked a little more al dente. The chicken schnitzel was disappointing. The cornflake breading was tasty, but we couldn't eat the fries. Unfortunately not crispy at all. The bruschetta also lacked crunch. Unfortunately the bread was still completely soft. In general, the food could have used a little spice. However, we would come again to enjoy a delicious Sarti Spritz.

The ambience is great, but the prices are not justified at all. 8€ for a beer is just way too much. The waitresses were rude and arrogant. We won't go back and can't recommend it.

TOURIST TRAP!!!!! Everything way too expensive. Nachos was just a bag of chips with some melted cheese, schnitzel was not schnitzel but fried chicken and very limp fries. Service was otherwise fine.

Absolutely recommended. Great service (we were served by a young and very nice waitress) Vanessa. Since we are restaurateurs ourselves, we paid attention to several clues. We received absolutely top service. Food was very tasty and very nicely presented. Also the other waiters were very accommodating and nice. Nowadays you have to be very grateful that there are still people who do their job with one hundred percent joy and enthusiasm. You have definitely acquired new regular guests. Thank you.

Intrusive service (female service was very nice!!), who independently increased the tip mentioned because it was more “ladylike”. I've never experienced anything like that, and over 20 euros for two drinks is already very generous.

So schlecht habe ich noch nie gegessen. Stundenlang gewartet, um bestellen zu können. Gläser dreckig, Essen lieblos und geschmacklos und billig. Tatsächlich hatte.n wir dann noch Scherben im Essen!!!

We had a cappuccino which was delicious. Unfortunately, sugar on the table had become too wet. Unfortunately, no remedy could be found.

One star for the staff who were friendly and did try to fix the other issues without complaint. However for me there is almost no other reason to recommend this place. - I felt that you are paying for location which is fairly normal around here but in my opinion, the food was bland bordering on bad and doesn't at all live up to the price point for me, 'good location' or not. Quite overpriced by my standards. - Location - theoretically good as it's right downtown, and has the 'canal view' but I found the water here is dirty and still and simply not worth it. Up on the street side it is quite busy with people walking by all the time. - I found the food itself felt unfresh and generally very bland. Bread was stale according to my standard. Overall if you're in the city centre and can manage to walk another 5 minutes, I believe almost any other option in the vicinity would be better. Most I can recommend is to stop here for just a drink if anything.

We had ordered food. When it came to the table, it turned out that my meal was accidentally (I don't want to insinuate anything, but it's strange) the most expensive thing on the pasta menu (with truffles). The waiter asked me to accept it because it was very busy and the kitchen was very busy. I would have had to wait until my food came, during that time my mother's food, who had accompanied me, would have gotten cold or she would have had to eat first and then wait for me. So I accepted the food and was asked to pay for it in full. Not a great experience and left a bad aftertaste.

This Plankton Cafe is really miserable, Pure tourist trap, bad even for a cafe...

We were doing some shopping in the city and thought we'd sit down here and relax and drink 2 Wheat (non-alcoholic), which was good so far. But then the bill came and we almost fell into the Alster ....... €15.80 for 2 wheat...... p.s. At Oktoberfest it is the equivalent of lower.

Der Kaffee war sehr überteuert und schmeckt nicht. Die Bedienung war aber sehr freundlich. Leider sehr unbefriedigend.

Waren zum Kaffee trinken da. Freundliches Personal. Schön auf dem Wasser gesessen. Schön das Hunde erlaubt sind.

Mein Besuch im Café Ponton war leider eine enttäuschende Erfahrung. Wir mussten ungewöhnlich lange auf die Bedienung warten, und als das Frühstück endlich serviert wurde, waren wir mehr als enttäuscht. Die Qualität der Speisen ließ sehr zu wünschen übrig. Die Salami sah aus, als hätte sie zu lange gelegen, der Lachs war nicht frisch, und der Käse schien bereits angelaufen zu sein. Die Brötchen waren trocken, und die Waffel wirkte alt und zäh. Als wir unser Feedback zur Qualität der Speisen abgaben, wurden wir von der Bedienung mit einem abwertenden Ton behandelt, was unsere Enttäuschung noch verstärkte. Es ist schade, dass unsere Erfahrung so negativ war, da wir uns auf einen angenehmen Besuch im Café Ponton gefreut hatten. Hoffentlich kann das Café in Zukunft die Qualität und den Service verbessern, um sicherzustellen, dass alle Gäste eine positive Erfahrung haben.

Völlig überzogene Preise. Leute, Leute... ein Blick auf einen Fleet rechtfertigt das meines Erachtens nicht. System Gastro. Pluspunkt: man kann Leute beim shoppen beobachten. Ansonsten leider nicht mein Geschmack. Alles Gute.

Eigentlich ein netter Ort, aber das Personal ist nicht den eigenen Ansprüchen 'gefragte Location ' entsprechend unterwegs. Zum einen hektisch, zum anderen auch gleich recht robust bei der Ansage am Sonntag Vormittag: "kein Frühstück". Die Menge der Tische und Stühle auf dem begrenzten Platz würde schon mehrfach erwähnt. Für ein Café zu wenig Auswahl süßer Speisen. Positiv zu nennen: für unseren Hund gab es eine Schüssel mit Wasser, ohne dass wir gefragt hatten!

Sehr freundliches gut gelaunten Personal. Klassen humorvoller Art und Weise. Sehr gut schmeckender Flamm Kuchen. Auch der Lachs war sehr Wohlschmeckend. Die direk abgelegene Straße nervt ein wenig aber der Blick auf den Elbableger macht es wieder weg, genauso der Blick auf das Rathaus.

Für die Qualität des Essens sind die Preise total überteuert. Man bezahlt hier für die Lage und den Blick aufs Wasser ;)

Sehr schönes Lokal, die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und schnell. Man ging auf unsere Änderungswünsche (lactosefrei) ein. Das Essen war gut. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Die Preise waren ein wenig zu hoch.

Sehr schöne zitsplatz am Wasser,wen da nicht die Mücken währen 😡. personal service sehr fleißig und freundlich,hat man selten bei so ein Arbeitstress. 👍👍👍 gerne wieder.

Nette Bedienung, aber 15€ für eine Ofenkartoffel und eine Cola für fast 7€ sind ordentliche Preise. Geschmacklich gut, aber nicht außergewöhnlich. Das Ambiente ist ganz schön, aber das Wasser nebenan sehr dreckig/ zugemüllt.

Lage gut, auch wenn Sitzen am Brackwasser auf den 2. Blick auch nicht so der Knaller ist. Service ist freundlich. Größtes Manko meiner Meinung nach ist Preis-Leistung: da passt die Qualität von Speisen und Getränken überhaupt nicht zum Preis und geht schon ins „Unverschämte“. Zusätzlich war in den Toiletten das Licht kaputt, was aber niemanden interessiert hat. Also klassische Touri-Falle, meiner Meinung nach nicht unbedingt zu empfehlen

Leider schmuddelig und sehr ! preisintensiv. Die Krönung war der super unfreundliche Kellner. Also wir lassen hier keinen Cent mehr da.

Spontane Aktion von uns: ein Glas Weisswein und irgend etwas dazu. Das Ponton hat uns angesprochen. Treppe runter und ... bitte setzen sie sich wo es beliebt. Danke, das hört Gast gerne. Wenn es etwas frisches Wetter ist oder zieht sind die Plätze mittig besser. Vorsicht, die Plätze wasserseitig haben eine kleine Falle in Form einer Abstufung!!! Unser Bestelltes wurde schnell und korrekt gebracht. Preis-Leistung für uns in Ordnung. Was wir an Mahlzeiten für die übrigen Gäste sahen und hörten was dafür bezahlt wurde: TOP Der Kellner Sellami war sehr gut gelaunt und kompetent. Dass der Fleet verunreinigt ist, liegt nicht am Café Ponton, sondern an unserer "Zivilisation". Die Angestellten gingen auf "Angeltour" und fischten in einer Ecke die gröbsten Verunreinigung aus dem Wasser. Wir nehmen nicht an, das die HH diese Arbeit vergütet!? Danke allen im Café. Bis bald gerne würde dann doch etwas teuer, liegen doch ca. 1'000 km zwischen unserem Wohnort und Hamburg ...

Schön gelegen, aber extrem touristisch. Das gilt auch für die Preise. 5,80 für ein kleines Softgetränk. Essen ist ganz okay aber auch nicht mehr.

Ambiente toll, Service ist in Ordnung - aufgrund der Menschenmenge doch etwas überfordert und daraufhin angenervt. Zum Essen kann ich nichts sagen, Getränke lecker allerdings VIEL zu teuer ! 1x Flasche Wasser 10 Euro !!! Anzumerken ist der Gang auf die Toilette, i.d.R. kenne ich das so... Gäste sind frei, Laufkundschaft muss zahlen, wir wurden extrem pampig darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass wir als Gäste ebenfalls zu zahlen haben! Der Ton spielt hier aber die Musik, für ein dreckiges Klo und dann als Gast so behandelt zu werden und dann auch noch on top viel Geld zahlen?! Nein danke.

Solides Essen zu respektablen Preisen. Ich hatte Rumpsteak, das etwas mehr als Medium gebraten war. Hohe Getränkepreise. Lage an und für sich ok, nur ist der Fleet halt recht dreckig. Guter und schneller sowie freundlicher Service. 3 Personen, 3 Hauptgerichte, 5 Getränke macht zusammen 125€. Unbequeme Stühle und wackeliger Tisch mit einem Baum dazwischen (???).

Wir haben dort zu Mittag gegessen. Für einen Ponton-Salat mit Hähnchenbrust und einen Caesar-Salat, ein Bier und eine Cola haben wir über 50€ bezahlt. Die Hähnchenbrust vom Ceasar-Salat war nicht ganz durch. Es tat der Bedienung lediglich leid. Due Bedienung war trotz allem sehr nett. Die preise sind wirklich sehr hoch und die Qualität entspricht nicht dem Preis. Deshalb nur zwei Sterne.

Nettes Personal. Essen ist ok bekommt man aber woanders günstiger es ist nix besonderes und teuer. Getränke sind auch teuer. Das Ambiente ist schön und Ponton ist auch beheizt

Ich nenne es mal eine Erfahrung. Meine Freundin und ich wurden trotz mehrfachem Blickkontakt und rumstehendem Personal komplett ignoriert und nicht bedient. Woran lag es? Weil wir ein gleichgeschlechtliches Passwort sind? Oder einfach nur Faulheit? Nach ca 15min sind wir wieder gegangen, da wurde noch ein „tschüss“ hinterher gerufen.

Almoçamos aqui no dia 18/05 dois amigos, o espaço é agradavel e sobre o rio, inicialmente iamos apenas tomar 2 cervejas mas o menu despertou atençao entao foi pedido 1 salmao fumado e 1 salada Cesar, ambos os pratos saborosos principalmente a salada cesar e o seu molho gostoso. Pedi 1 waffle com gelado que foi como que fechar com chave de ouro. Serviço simpatico e eficaz. Nao dou avaliaçao perfeita pois na minha opiniao e familiarizado com o mundo hoteleiro creio que os preços da carta estao inflacionados 10 a 15% na comida e cervejas, nos vinhos os preços sao demasiado caros. Voltaria concerteza e recomendo vivamente

Nie wieder! Das Essen war nicht nur teuer, sondern auch noch aus der Packung. Konnte beobachten, wie das Küchenpersonal Flammkuchen aus der Tiefkühltruhe geholt hat. Damit aber nicht genug - der Kellner war wirklich unfreundlich und hat mir sowohl das falsche Getränk als auch das falsche Essen gebracht. Er wollte mich dann noch "überzeugen", dass das auch lecker sei, was er mir da vorstellt und das ganze in einem wirklich zickigen Ton!

Unterirdisch, leider extrem unaufmerksame Bedienung bei durchaus entsprechenden Preis. Die Rechnung selbst war ein mega Problem. Eine Kartenzahlung wurde abgelehnt. Daneben servierte der Herr sehr ungeschickt . Ich hatte eine Tomatensuppe, welche durchaus den einen Stern rechtfertigt.

This restaurant has a unique feature which is a floating dining room. You eat on.. a ponton. You can also have a table on the bridge besides the ponton. We appreciated the location, which has great views of surrounding buildings from the beautiful canal. This kind of place is perfect for a few beers and good food. We had Flammekueche and they were absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. The waitress was helpful and answered all our questions.

Ich sage nur ein Hefeweizen 0,5l für stolze 8,90€. Corona hin oder her, völlig überzogener Preis zumal man dasselbe Bier ein paar Meter weiter für 5,30& bekommt. Wer meint für ein Bier soviel zu bezahlen, bitte, ich nicht noch einmal.

Was man hier geboten bekommt, ist unterste Kiste. Und das ist nicht übertrieben. Wie andere schon angemerkt hatten, hat auch uns die Lage der Lokalität angelockt. Getränkepreise: Maßlos überteuert. Essen: Bestellt hatten wir die "Empfehlung" des Tages. Das hätte sein sollen: Zanderfilet mit Kartoffeln, Gurkensalat und Blumenkohl. Bekommen haben wir: Zwei Ministücke Fisch - völlig geschmacklos und ohne eine Spur Butter, fast rohen in Currypulver gewendeten Blumenkohl und Kartoffelsalat (fast sicher, dass der aus der Packung kam) mit kaum sichtbarer Salatgurke. Auf die Frage der Kellnerin, ob wir zufrieden seien, antworteten wir wahrheitsgemäß, dass der Fisch total ungewürzt ist und baten darum, dies dem Koch mitzuteilen. Dass nicht das auf dem Teller war, was angeboten wurde, darüber haben wir mal hinweggesehen. Ihre Antwort ein paar Minuten später war, es hätte sich sonst keiner beschwert. Geht man so mit Gästen um???? Lange Rede, kurzer Sinn: Geht auf keinen Fall da hin!
