Café Knatter - Restaurant & Pension in Ückeritz

Great the first time, fluffy waffle, soft, well done! At our request, the red jelly and the whipped cream were put in separate cups each (the child doesn't like it when it spills on the plate). The second time we had bad luck, when we politely asked whether it could be served separately, we were told that it was arranged in different places on a plate. But what happens next? Unfortunately the waffle was extremely dry and very dark, which is exactly what we tasted! When the waiter asked if everything was OK, this was addressed. He didn't see it that way. Made a strange face. He did offer to bring a new waffle, but we declined! There wasn't much going on... We suspect the waffles were only warmed up briefly because they were already prepared! In no way did the final amount change! No, not really friendly this time! Drinks ok, cappuccino a bit small! Reservation recommended. (Unfortunately no photo was taken of the very dark waffle, it should be gone as quickly as possible, the child was no longer hungry)

It was better many years ago. Super nicely located. Unfortunately price performance has decreased. I can't say anything about the hotel, we just went out to eat.

A magical place with a very special ambience to relax, do sports and work. In addition to excellent service, a great location on the backwaters and cozy rooms, this place also impresses with the people who live and work here. Einfach nur traumhaft. Die Begrüßung hat Poldi übernommen, was für ein süßer Hund, bester Mitarbeiter ever. Die Lage ist unschlagbar, direkt an der Ostsee, was will man mehr. Das Café /Restaurant ist toll gestaltet, wohlfühlen ist einfach Fakt. Super netter Service. Kleine aber sehr feine Speisekarte. Das Essen war top. Wir kommen definitiv wieder und werden auch ein paar Tage bleiben. Nur zu empfehlen 👍

We visit Café Knatter at least once a year. This year we went there with our dog for the first time in the afternoon and enjoyed it. Friendly service and a nice ambience.

We cannot rate the rooms. Haven't stayed there yet. Have been a guest in the café several times. This is always a great experience.

We had our small wedding celebration in Café Knatter with a stay of “Unfortunately” only 2 nights. All of our wishes were fulfilled lovingly and friendly. All of our guests were very satisfied. The kitchen had prepared lots of very tasty dishes and left nothing to be desired. That was really a highlight. We'll definitely be back! We would like to thank all employees and especially Mr. Künzle for the professional support.

Was there for coffee, good crumble as an alternative to cake, selection of cakes reduced to 4 types. Service very friendly and accommodating. Great ambience and great view of the backwater. Beautiful meadow in front and children's playground nearby opposite. Use parking spaces directly in front of the house, do not do so 100m in advance for a fee.

I was a guest in the house for a few days. Super nice guesthouse, if you're lucky you even have rooms with a view of the backwaters. Large breakfast buffet and very nice staff.

We ate there for the third time yesterday. The quality has not diminished. It tastes excellent. However, the price-performance ratio leaves more and more to be desired. Prices rise and quantities fall. A main course (gnocchi, for example) for €23 seems like a starter. Unfortunately, the menu has also been reduced significantly. We hope things get better again.

If the weather is bad, an insider tip with sunset, delicious tarte flambée with an interesting sweet variant with almonds and pears, plus hot sea buckthorn juice with rum. 👍

We were back in Usedom after a break of a few years. After the good experiences in the past, we were also a little curious as to whether we would experience this great atmosphere, the delicious food and the friendly team again. We can spontaneously say that everything has remained so excellent. In addition, the guest room was tastefully and practically expanded to include two rows of the old terrace. We will be guests here again on our next visit to Usedom.

The location and the café are great, the Polish service staff are very friendly, but you shouldn't take rooms above the restaurant! - the music can be heard pounding all evening long, it's particularly bad in a closed society that doesn't end until after midnight! Table reservations for one person are not accepted.

After we've had a drink and calmed down, I still think it's a disgrace to offer something like that. I can't remember the last time we ate so badly. Especially not here on the island. The four of us were here for lunch today at 2:30 p.m., we had made a reservation and were really looking forward to it because of the many positive reviews. Beautiful table with a great view of the Loddiner Höft and Achterwasser as well as good and courteous service, we got that as expected, but then unfortunately it stops. The food was served within a few minutes of ordering. None of the four main courses corresponded to the menu. The pork fillet was firm and dry, and instead of dumplings, gnocchi was served without notice. The pasta with shrimp contained four (!) shrimps, and the pasta was floury and somewhat tasteless. The venison goulash was of very poor quality, only cartilage and tendons, not a single “good” piece of meat. Red cabbage was served with it, which firstly was at most lukewarm and secondly, despite the waitress's assurances, it was definitely not homemade but was very typical for wholesalers due to its consistency and sweet taste. All in all, there are simply too many negative points that make a recommendation absolutely impossible. Why aren't you honest with the guest? Why don't you calculate an appropriate sales price, here for the game goulash instead of €26.50, in my opinion it's definitely under €20 (that's already high for this quality), but then the guest knows what he's getting into or you reduce the menu and make an offer just the dishes that you can honestly support and would eat yourself, probably no meat dishes. Or you can only offer the main courses from, say, 5 p.m., because most of the afternoon guests who come when the restaurant opens at 2 p.m. only want coffee and cake anyway, and so the warm main courses obviously represent a rather compelling evil that you are not prepared to accept to offer high quality in small quantities. It should also be mentioned that when we answered the question about satisfaction, we were offered dessert and coffee on the house, which we politely declined. We already knew the café from an equally disappointing afternoon visit with certainly not homemade cake two years ago, and now we wanted to give it a second chance. I am sure, despite or perhaps because of my own consideration from the host's perspective, that I have judged this objectively and therefore cannot understand the many positive reviews. The whole thing just annoys me in terms of local tourism! It's a shame to offer such restaurants to guests, because you won't be able to make a living just from camping vacationers. And even there, a not insignificant number will refrain from visiting in advance due to the price level.

After the renovation, the restaurant is even larger but also more comfortable. Beautiful view. Luckily we had reserved. We had pumpkin gnocchi, usually with meat, we ordered without meat - tip to the kitchen to put this on the menu as it was very tasty. We also had eel and fish soup - both delicious.

I'm very happy that my gut feeling led me away from the imperial baths to the Achterwasser and in particular to the very special "Pension Knatter"! This guesthouse impresses with its unique location! You can't be closer to the water and the most spectacular sunsets are free. Dogs are very welcome there and to be honest: we have never had such a nice room. 25 sqm of the extra class, consisting of 2 rooms and a high-quality shower room including a heat lamp in the shower and sooooo comfortable beds!!! We felt completely comfortable and slept wonderfully. The breakfast staff is very accommodating, there is nothing missing at breakfast and you can have excellent food in the restaurant in the evening. In the morning we were pampered by Mrs. Wegner and in the evening Bardek took excellent care of making sure we didn't miss anything. Luckily we still had fantastic weather in mid-October, so our conclusion is: great guesthouse, great location, great restaurant, great employees - everything done right! Thank you for a dream vacation!

We have always felt very comfortable with you over the last few years. Unfortunately, until Friday October 18th, 2024, around 3 p.m. in the most beautiful sunny weather, the restaurant was 45% full and there were two waiters. When my friend politely asked one of her waiters if you could sit outside, she said no - they don't serve you there because when the door opens and closes it gets too cold in the restaurant. We offered to pay for the drinks straight away and take them outside ourselves, but we weren't allowed to do that either. To be honest, I work in the catering industry, I know the current situation, but this is not possible. That's why I unfortunately have to deduct a star for the service. We had dinner at Knatter with our camping friends. It was a very sociable evening. We all really enjoyed the food. The staff is very friendly and there is a relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely be back next year. Many thanks to the entire team. Keep it up.

Fantastic place for sunsets by the water.

We visited the café today with three friends after we became curious about the many positive reviews. Unfortunately our expectations were not met. My coffee was very thin and not what I would have expected from a Café Crema given the price. A friend had ordered a pudding crumb cake that was advertised as homemade. Neither visually nor taste-wise, this cake seemed homemade - more like a finished product. We also tried a chocolate ice cream sundae that looked really nice, but the ice cream contained an unusually large number of ice crystals, which just shouldn't happen at that price. The positive aspect is the beautiful ambience and the wonderful view of the backwater, but unfortunately that's not enough for us to come back. We'd rather enjoy our next coffee somewhere else.

We ate at Knatter today and were very satisfied. Of course the prices are a little higher than “normal”, but you get a lot for it. 1A quality, friendly service, modern, warm atmosphere and an excellent view of the backwaters. For us, everything fits perfectly and creates a well-rounded picture. And honestly, because this came up in the comments. If you don't want to pay the euro for parking, you should probably go to McDonald's instead. Where else can you park for free in Ückeritz if there is a special location nearby?

We had dinner with the family and were very impressed. The view is unique, the food tastes fabulous. The staff are very nice and accommodating. We would love to come back.

Parking for a fee in the in-house parking lot with a penalty of 45 euros for guests! That doesn't work at all. Until now, the parking lot has always been free. Another parking space 200 m away is also available for a fee from the municipality. Rip-off on all levels. Unfortunately, the trend is increasing on Usedom. I can happily do without jovial fitness recommendations.

Disappointing. Although the food was quite good, but overpriced, and some waiters were friendly, we won't be going there again. I was at Café Knatter with my daughter a few weeks ago and we wanted to sit at a table in the very beautiful room with a view of the water. Since there were many tables available there, this shouldn't have been a problem. However, in the next room we were seated at the "cat table", the absolute worst table in both dining rooms, right next to the passage, where it was narrow and uncomfortable and where all the waiters had to constantly run right past - even though many better tables were empty in both rooms . So I asked the presumed manager of the café again about the possibility of getting another seat. This was refused to us with the unfriendly statement that he decided on the seating arrangement of the guests. By the time we left the café after about 2 hours, the empty, supposedly reserved tables were unoccupied. We felt that it should be made clear to us that we were not welcome here as guests and we will continue to follow this message in the future. Addendum: We had reserved and it was afternoon, so not rush hour.

Spontaneous dinner... seats were available. Service nice and quick... Food fresh and partly homemade, crumble dessert is a hit! Were satisfied...

What an amazing place! What an atmosphere! We visited Knatter three times during our time on Usedom. The quality of the food and drinks is very, very good (and has its price). The employees are very friendly and attentive, with one exception. It looked as if an employee had his nose very high up and that wasn't a nice feeling as a guest. Apart from that, it was just great there! We hope to come back next year. Thanks!

Great location, nothing more positive. Service unprofessional, food an absolute disaster. Canned mushrooms are served instead of the promised chanterelles, the salmon is fried to death, pumpkin soup is made with carrots... the worst restaurant far and wide.

It's best to reserve a table in good time. But: The sunset on the Achterwasser is magical there and you can enjoy it with a drink on the lawn by the water, sitting in a deck chair or on benches. Always happy ☺️

I give the star for the really great view you have. Otherwise we were served by a mushy waiter and while you expect delicious cake in a café, here you get a choice of 3 types of frozen cake, unfortunately the 4 type was not thawed. We have no recommendations for this café.

The restaurant was a fantastic find! Parking spaces directly at the house. Great ambience on the quiet backwaters in the winter garden with a wonderful view, rich in details and rustic furnishings. Unobtrusive, groovy background music. The dishes were A+ with stars! Even the simplest "trivial things", such as the sauce on the cucumber salad, tasted exceptionally sophisticated. Familiar dishes have become something special - someone here knows how to balance the flavor nuances so that nothing is really run of the mill! We had excellent, juicy steaks fried to perfection, fine fish with creamy herb puree, homemade gnocchi with highly aromatic sugo, crumble and forest fruit tiramisu for dessert - every single dish was an extraordinary taste experience. The service staff were attentive and in a good mood - EVERYTHING was just right here. We really enjoyed the evening and would happily recommend the restaurant!

The location on the Achterwasser speaks for itself, the service staff are very friendly, there is something for everyone to choose from, we had fish and it was excellent and if there is still room for desserts, definitely try it - great, we will be back!

We were there yesterday just by chance to see the sunset. Unfortunately it wasn't available due to the weather, but we decided to eat there today. We had cod and sea bass and for dessert we had panna cotta and the best crumble ever. All the dishes were excellent and we were very impressed. The service employee was very friendly and accommodating. A reservation is recommended. For us this is our new hotspot on Usedom. We'll definitely be back, and hopefully next time with sunset :)...

What a pearl on the backwaters have I found here?! A location with a view and ambience that is unparalleled on the entire Baltic Sea coast! Nice service staff, fast service and have I already written how incredibly beautiful the view is?! On the subject of TK cakes, please check the picture I have come up with for yourself😉 We were quickly seated in a spot of our choice without direct sun! The entire staff tried hard and was very attentive to serve every customer to their complete satisfaction! I don't think 20€ for cake and coffee for two people + 1 beer is absolutely reasonable for 2024 and the location and nothing that surprises you, but after all it would be 36 marks!!!1!😉 The reservation for dinner in 2 days has been made and the experience may be added here! The anticipation is great!

We stopped by there spontaneously and got a table without a reservation. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Our food was simply delicious. I recommend everyone on Usedom to stop there and not just once.

We went to Café Knatter twice at the beginning of September. Once for a coffee and a Swedish mug, then two days later for dinner. The location on the Achterwasser is a dream, the view is beautiful. At coffee time we got a seat without reserving, with a discreet time limit from the service as to when we had to be through, which was absolutely unproblematic. We made reservations for dinner, which we believe is absolutely necessary during the season. The service staff is sometimes a bit “robust”, but always friendly and we personally felt comfortable. The steak was on point, as was the fish platter, and the accompanying wine was very good. The Vitello Tonnato had too little sauce and far too much dressingless salad for my taste. Visually it was certainly an eye-catcher, but in terms of taste a light dressing or a little more sauce could have made it a highlight... All in all, it wasn't a cheap evening, but it was worth the price. We can recommend this restaurant and would be happy to come back

The café is beautifully located by the water and generally makes a good impression. Unfortunately, it doesn't deserve the name café at all, as only four types of frozen products are offered. Unfortunately, my joy of a delicious piece of cake in a beautiful ambience could not be fulfilled. My answer when I asked if it was tasty was simply ignored. Very unfortunate...

Went here for dinner as a couple. Order was 2 x tagliatelle 1 x with shrimp. The food was ok, except that spaghetti was served instead of tagliatelle. When we asked the service, we were told that a guest had already commented on this today. Without a comment the full bill was demanded.

The food we ordered was there after 5 minutes. None of it was freshly made. Warmed fried potatoes, meat, gnocchi, beans. Unfortunately the sauce is just a mushy mass. The food was better here. Very disappointing for the location and the previous rating.

The Kaffee Knatter is idyllically located on the Achterwasser. It's wonderful to watch water sports enthusiasts. A coffee served by the friendly service staff promises a nice afternoon. You should definitely make a reservation in the evening. We'd love to come back. Paid parking nearby.

The seating is sensational... but the food is overpriced and extremely poor. Had pork fillet with chanterelles, gnochi and beans… Pork fillet was cooked, not fried, partly raw, sauce a flour pamp with 2 chanterelles, beans cold, gnochi from the package. I have rarely eaten badly😫

Wir hatten reserviert und einen schönen Tisch mit Aussicht brkommen, für unsere kleine stand ein Kinderstuhl bereit. Getränke kamen schnell und waren gut, Service allgemein aufmerksam und fix. Zum Punktabzug kommt es weil das bestellte Roastbeef leider nicht Medium sondern durch war und dem Salat das Dressing fehlte. Die Aussicht und der Sonnenuntergang entschädigen hierfür.

The KK is beautifully located on the backwaters with a great view. Have been there regularly over the last few years for coffee, dinner or just a drink. Unfortunately, prices have fallen significantly in relation to quantity and quality. The next big rip-off is the parking lot in front of the coffee shop, which by no means generates better performance or added value, but costs every visitor €1/hour. relieved. In the future, we will avoid restaurants that only want to milk the visitor.

Anniversary party - a complete success with great fun in an excellent atmosphere... Last weekend we celebrated with more than 100 guests in the Knatter, started with coffee and cake, enjoyed the property on the water with musical accompaniment and the adventure program, which was followed by dinner, which was perfect - and we are actually spoiled. The game that followed, including the Visasvis Cigar Lounge, ensured that many of our guests stayed until well after midnight and felt more than just comfortable. Thanks to the KnatterTeam - fantastic job!!!

The restaurant was recommended to me by a local and I spontaneously went there (alone). After a short wait I was shown to a table and given the menu. The service was very nice and accommodating. There were short waiting times (10-15 minutes) between dishes, so you could enjoy the view and the ambience. In addition, the restaurant was busy at this time. I really liked the dishes, even if the main courses are a bit more expensive. The menu says tagliatelle aglio olio, the pasta was a little thinner so it was more like tagliatelle, which I didn't find critical. For my taste it could do with more garlic oil (I like eating garlic), perhaps some garlic oil should be served with it so you can dose it yourself. All in all, a nice visit and I will come back.

We ended up here based on the good reviews and were a little disappointed. The atmosphere is nice, the prices are fairly normal, the cake for €8 was unfortunately a bit stale.

Very nicely located excursion restaurant with lots of fish on offer. The fish pot is recommended. Nice service and nice view. Deck chairs at the water's edge to chill out. One star deduction for the 0.2l wine spritzer for 7 euros... underground.

Short detour to the cafe. The only thing that convinced us was the location right on the water. Unfortunately there was no ice cream parlor or ice cream. We skipped the pasta dish on the menu and went to another cafe

Café Knatter is always worth a visit! We have enjoyed coming here for years. A reservation is almost always advisable as the café is very popular. The changing menu offers great dishes that are served by friendly and quick service. Especially the view of the backwaters with the most beautiful sunsets is simply unbeatable.

In itself, this is a nice café with a great ambience. Unfortunately, the service in the restaurant is not up to par. At the reception the waitress didn't even know which tables were free. The table service was a long time coming so you had to organize the menu yourself. The food also took a long time to arrive, the noodles were not cooked properly and the hot drink with added syrup (far too much) was not edible

Very nice location and the restaurant looks nice too, but we weren't impressed with the food. Fish soup with homeopathic cans of fish, you can add a few more pieces. And the fried potatoes looked bought. If someone here says that we made these ourselves, then you have put a lot of effort into making them look like a convenience product. A pity.

We were now in the “Knatter” guesthouse in Ückeritz for the second time! It is located directly on the Achterwasser, restaurant and some rooms have a direct view of it! This time we had a great room (double double/gallery room)! Very clean, breakfast very good, we found the service (Heike) very nice, responded to our wishes, thank you again!!! We have already booked for next year! Sporting activities are also there (surf school) So, let's go, it's worth it!!! Lg

We spontaneously stayed for 4 nights and had a double room with breakfast. We were completely satisfied and will come back! The location is fantastic, the food is very good and the employees are in a good mood every day! Surfing, sailing or stand-up - all possible without any complications. From our point of view, a clear MUST if you are on Usedom!

A perfect place for a bike ride from Świnoujście. Great atmosphere. A team of nice people, at least some of them Polish, so the language barrier disappeared. The dishes were perfectly prepared. Fish soup rich in vegetables, juicy fish, enriched with colorful vegetables. Five.
