Just a few steps away from Karl-Marx-Straße and the hustle and bustle of Neukölln, this fantastic Italian restaurant is tucked away. The stuffed gnocchi with porcini mushrooms were superb!

Very tasty, very comfortably furnished, but also very popular, which means your stay is timed. The waiters seem a bit stressed and sometimes they let things slip, but they're all nice. On the evening of my visit, it was also quite loud.

A lovely atmosphere, no canned music (!!!), lovely service. The food is nice, but not extraordinary, and a bit fussy with flower decorations etc. pickled vegetables turned out to be pickled fruit. The autumnal trio salad lacked in contrasting flavour, the main dish pasta was billed as not spicy but was very spicy. The replacement that came was bland. It feels a bit as though the kitchen has lost its way between ‘novelty’ and ‘good Italian’. I hope they redirect to ‘good Italian’, because it is a lovely place that has everything going for it, and Carolina was charming and attentive!

Always amazing experience. The permacultute garden alone is an adventure and the fact that they harvest daily to enhance the dishes of their menu with their own carefully curated permaculture greens and veggies is just so special. A true gem in the middle if the city concrete jungle. Food is as delicious as the warm atmosphere and the beautiful service 😋 👌 thanks always for a great time

I've been here a few times now to eat and have coffee, and I've always had similar (rather negative) impressions. Now I'm reporting on our last meal, which, to say the least, wasn't very pleasant or enjoyable. We had a rather mixed evening: after we arrived, we had to wait about 20 minutes before we could point out that we hadn't ordered yet. Another 20 minutes passed, and our drinks still hadn't arrived (a bottle of water and two glasses of sparkling wine – so not very difficult to prepare, and it doesn't take long either), and we had to remind the waiters again that we were waiting for our order. After another 7(!!) minutes, the two glasses of sparkling wine arrived, followed by another 5(!!) minutes later by the bottle of water. The meal was no different – ​​there were very long waits between courses, so we finally got our dessert 2.5 hours after we ordered. Looking again at the menu while we waited, we noticed that extra bread with oil (and maybe a salad bouquet as well—I'm not so sure about that right now...) was provided with every meal - but we didn't get that. Taste is subjective: some of the food was very good and tasty - especially the starters - but some of it was overseasoned (way too much saffron) and still very bland in flavor (I'm thinking of the risotto). At least it was always very appetizingly presented. The price also plays a role, and for that, it was mediocre. Now, the ambiance: It's cramped and usually quite full. Furthermore, the tables are very close together. The noise level is quite high on the terrace, as well as in the room itself. The back garden is very beautiful, very quiet, and cozy, inviting you to linger and have a coffee - but we were there for dinner and sat in the corridor: not a particularly pleasant spot, as there's so much going on. People are constantly running in and out (quite a lot of them, and they tend to be loud children with their accompanying adults in tow—I don't mind children—or people who need to go to the restroom and back, or simply leave the store). Several times, someone bumped into my chair—I wasn't sitting directly in the aisle—or brushed against my back. There was also a group present, which made the noise level even higher. It was all somewhat overwhelming and annoying. Towards the end of our stay (from 8 p.m. onward), things became more pleasant. On a positive note, a woman from the service was always very nice, chatted with us briefly, and asked how the food was after each course. Conclusion: I found the evening disappointing. You can visit the store for a meal; some of the food is really good and delicious, but overall, it was too loud, too annoying, and too long-winded—especially for the price.

Very friendly owners with a great love of the garden and a great feel for the food. Reservations are definitely recommended. Nice people who know what's good. We'll definitely be back.

I visited Café Botanico at the end of July, and it was fantastic. Not only was the setting, including the courtyard and terrace, very appealing, but above all, the food was delicious and the service was very attentive. After dinner, we sat down for a drink in the garden, and it felt like a vacation in our own city. It certainly won't be my last visit.

Something completely different. A small menu, very select, and above all, very tasty. A large selection of drinks, everything makes perfect sense. The focus is on sustainability and regionality – simply fantastic. The prices are naturally high, but understandable given the concept. Cozy, with a great garden and an open kitchen.

Very nice waitress, food ok but really nothing special and small portion, next to a huge table with a hellish sound, we couldn't talk. And last but not least the prices are totally crazy. The concept is cool but there are limits. Tried several overpriced wines that were almost drinkable... Meh, too much concept kills the concept

A hidden gem in the city 🫜 This was my first time at Café Botanico, even though I'd been meaning to go for a long time – and I live very close by. So, I was all the more delighted to finally discover this cozy spot in the middle of the big city. I was particularly impressed by the garden: As someone who gardens myself, I know how much work and love goes into it. I appreciate it all the more when food comes fresh from the garden to the plate – and here, that's not just a claim, but a tangible reality. I was also impressed by the homemade products like pickled olives, fennel, and oxymel – things I enjoy making and using in my cooking. Another highlight were the chickpeas from Brandenburg – regional, sustainable, and a real treat. Ingredients like these demonstrate how well-thought-out and consistent the café's concept is. The atmosphere is warm and inviting—it immediately reminded me of a small hippie shop in California in the 90s that I discovered on my first trip there. It even smelled a bit like an old health food store—familiar and natural. In short: Café Botanico is a place to feel good, enjoy, and return. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates good food, honest ingredients, and a relaxed environment.

Café Botanico offers amazing italian kitchen with fresh herbs, salads and vegetables from their own garden. Prices are more than fair, given the quality of the food. The terrace is a beautiful oasis, quiet and green. The staff is super friendly and professional. Before or after food, you can grab a drink and sit in the hidden garden! Also in winter, the place is very cozy. Absolutely worth comming to, even (or especially) if you're not from Neukölln.

We enjoyed a wonderful seat under the roof on the terrace in the damp weather, with a view of the greenery and fresh air. We enjoyed the creative dishes with wonderfully attentive service. A very busy restaurant with friendly service. It's almost impossible to get a seat without a reservation. The option to sit in the garden is a great fit for the restaurant's ambiance. We were slightly disappointed with the lunch menu (see menu photo). The prices were on the higher side, but the individuality and originality of the products were truly outstanding! From the street, you'd never guess what a hidden gem lies hidden here. The heart and soul of Botanico is the extensive garden at the back. Numerous ingredients are grown here and find their way directly onto your plate. It's farm-to-table, as you'd expect. The terrace at the edge of the garden is also beautiful and almost magical. The menu impresses with creative ideas, excellent execution, and its aesthetic presentation is striking. The drinks selection, with its sometimes unusual essences (including several great non-alcoholic options), also deserves special praise. Overall, everything is pleasantly unfussy, unpretentious, but simply delicious, and the prices are absolutely fair. A truly fantastic restaurant that is well worth more than just a visit.

Great concept, relaxed atmosphere, delicious food – although the interior has a very strong fishy smell and the portions are very small. But still: a nice place to linger!

Café Botanico – a small garden-to-table restaurant in the heart of a residential neighborhood in Berlin-Neukölln – impresses with its cozy atmosphere, authentic taste experiences of German-Italian cuisine, friendly service, and the abundance of green plants in the outdoor area and the permaculture garden. Before our private dinner, we were treated to a very informative tour of the permaculture garden. Mr. Höfft, the owner, took plenty of time to show us the various plants and explain permaculture in detail – a fantastic opportunity to learn more about sustainable gardening. The refreshing aperitif and the flavorful three-course meal on the plant-lined terrace perfectly rounded off the evening. Many thanks to Mr. Höfft and his Café Botanico team for a very successful and enjoyable evening!

A beautiful place, great concept and very tasty food.

Café Botanico is a cute place on Richardstraße. While the food may be good (we didn't get to experience it), the service is terrible. Staff is overwhelmed and snippy. We arrived on time and were told to explore the garden as our table wasn't ready. Then, we were left standing in the middle of the room without anyone paying us any attention. When asking about our table, we were told "Are you in a hurry?" When we were finally seated (20 minutes past our reservation), no one tended to our table - so we left. I recommend walking just a few meters down to eat at AVIV. Tasty, friendly, and great atmosphere.

A special taste experience: all dishes are prepared with herbs from our own herb garden on the farm. Not for fans of greasy hamburgers, but for taste enthusiasts who want to let adventures melt in their mouths.

Bei der Rervierung wurden vom Personal zu den vier Erwachsenen zwei Kinder nicht berücksichtigt und ein viel zu kleiner Tisch bereitgestellt. Der Tisch konnte trotz ausgebuchtem Haus kurzfristig noch getauscht werden. Nur eine der drei Servicekräfte an diesem Abend sprach deutsch, was bei unserer Bestellung zu Wartezeiten führte, zumal keine Kinderteller angeboten wurden und das Kindermenü besprochen werden musste. Im Hinterhof des Lokals befinden sich große Gartenflächen in dem Gemüse für die Küche angebaut wird. Der Garten kann besichtigt werden. Mein Teller mit Pappadelle, Markrele und Sardellenbutter war ein Gedicht. Auch andere Pastagerichte überzeugten. Die Gnocchi als Hauptgericht auf der Karte kamen jedoch nur auf Vorspeisengröße. Die Desserts waren o.k. Mittlerweile ist es dem Café Botanico behördlicherseits erlaubt Alkohol auszuschenken, der rote Hauswein aus Sizilien passte gut zur Pasta.

Contacté par mail un lundi pour une réservation le dimanche suivant, ce café m'a envoyé une réponse standard me plaçant sur une liste d'attente. Sans réponse le vendredi, je les ai relancés par mail. Aucune réponse. Et, surprise, à 18h le dimanche, alors que ma demande concernait un déjeuner, j'ai reçu une autre réponse standard m'informant que ma réservation ne serait pas possible. Tant de désinvolture ne donne pas envie de recommencer l'expérience.

Very nice location with very friendly staff and inspiring food. Although the menu is manageable, it is difficult to decide between the many delicacies. There is also a beautiful garden. It's definitely a hit in the summer. We'd love to come back.

With the exception of a starter plate where the advertised artichokes were missing, the food was, as always, very tasty and interestingly prepared with fresh ingredients. Only the staff wasn't very customer oriented and extremely unfriendly. Not wanting to take drinks orders individually and not bring them individually is really impossible in a room that is not particularly large and only 3 tables are occupied. Absolute no go!

I can't cook such imaginative dishes at home, especially with such perfection. Even though it was a full house, the staff were able to create a cozy, personal atmosphere without seeming hectic. The currently non-alcoholic drinks were also a revelation for me. I felt good all around.

Excellently prepared vegetables, the portions were generous and the food in general was great. Because I'm a cook myself, I'm pretty picky about well spiced dishes, the quality of produce, and this was one of the best dining experiences of the month. The service staff is competent and friendly and attentive. Definitely a place I will return to.

This place was a beautiful discovery on our recent trip to Berlin. It had been recommended and it didn’t disappoint. The two course lunch was beyond delicious, stunningly fresh with beautiful flavour, there was real love in these dishes. The drinks were also standout and the garden gorgeous. Lovely staff too who took the time to translate for us! Will definitely be back.

The food was delicious, the homemade fermented redcurrant dressing on the salad blew me away. Really lovely fresh food and some amazing tea made with dried ingredients from the on-site garden. The staff were lovely and happy to help even though my German wasn’t good at all. It’s a great urban permaculture garden, I strongly recommend a visit, a garden tour and to talk with the Cafe Botanico team if you’re interested in urban farming, growing & permaculture.

I recently ate at Café Botanica for the first time with a friend and we were both very excited to have discovered this wonderful café. The food was simply delicious, we ordered ravioli and polenta & celery schnitzel, tiramisu and tea. Everything was first class and for me it was the best thing I've eaten in a restaurant in a long time. I am a passionate cook at home and critical when I go out to eat somewhere. The service is also great, very friendly, attentive people. Sweet location in one of Neukölln's most beautiful streets, certainly only better in summer when you can sit in the garden. Be sure to try the homemade teas and lemonades. In short: a nice little insider tip and definitely recommended!

Unser Besuch im Botanic Berlin war leider durchweg unbefriedigend, mit nur wenigen positiven Aspekten. Negativ: Ein Hauptproblem war die Kommunikation mit der Bedienung. Wir hatten explizit ein Gericht ohne Schärfe bestellt, was uns auch bestätigt wurde. Als das Essen serviert wurde, war es dennoch scharf. Nach einer Reklamation wurde uns ein neues Gericht gebracht, das angeblich nicht scharf sein sollte – doch auch dieses war erneut scharf. Es wirkte, als scheitere es sowohl an klarer Kommunikation als auch an der Kompetenz, einfache Wünsche umzusetzen. Zusätzlich war die Atmosphäre laut und unübersichtlich, was es schwer machte, sich wohlzufühlen. Die Wartezeiten waren unangenehm lang, und die Tafel mit den Wochenangeboten wurde so schnell wieder weggenommen, dass wir keine Chance hatten, die Optionen gründlich zu prüfen. Positiv: Einige der Vorspeisen waren durchaus gut abgeschmeckt und zeigten Potenzial. Dennoch war die Qualität der Speisen insgesamt durchwachsen – die Nudeln waren unterschiedlich gegart, die Würze oft unausgewogen.

Wir haben unsere Betriebsweihnachtsfeier im Café Botanico begangen. Die beste Idee jemals! Die einstündige Führung durch den Garten war auch für Flora-Laien ein Hochgenuß und der großartige Guide hat uns mit seiner Leidenschaft für Pflanzen und das Gärtnern so mitgerissen, dass wir jetzt alle selbst Hochbeete anlegen werden. Vieles, was wir im Garten gesehen haben, kam bei unserem köstlichen Menü auf den Tisch. Eine Empfehlung für Alle, die versteckte Hinterhöfe mit wundervollen Gärten entdecken wollen, und diejenigen, die gerne sehr gut und gesund essen.

Ein sogenanntes Restaurant, welches sich selbst durch eigene Produkte und biologische Küche hervortun möchte. Das Essen ist ok, m.E. ūberteuert und es gibt eine sehr eingeschränkte Auswahl. Aus unverständlichen Gründen darf kein Wein serviert werden. Als Ersatz selbst gemachte Säfte ecc... Man scheint auf der Biowelle und einer mediteranen Küche mitschwimmen zu wollen. Wer's mag...

We took the garden tour with a 3-course menu afterwards and can only recommend it. You get a whole new connection to wild herbs that you previously just viewed as “weeds”. The food was lovingly and specially prepared. We definitely recommend trying the pesto! Tastes very Italian (and that comes from an Italian). Thank you for the beautiful and inspiring day....

The Café Botanico is a real insider tip! In the middle of the urban hustle and bustle of Neukölln This cafe/restaurant offers a beautiful permaculture garden a little break from everyday life. The café and restaurant is run with a lot of love - you can feel that in every detail. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the garden is a little paradise. The food is fantastic! Some of the ingredients come directly from our own garden, which gives the dishes an incomparable freshness and quality. The prices are absolutely fair, especially when you consider the quality and the unique concept. If you are looking for a place to switch off, eat sustainably and deliciously and at the same time enjoy nature in the middle of the city, this is the right place for you.

The dishes tasted absolutely amazing. I was particularly happy about the homemade kombucha. Finally a tasty and fresh change from the usual soft drinks.

Great food, amazing kombucha and wonderful service. Me and my husband are big kombucha fans (we also brew our own at home) and it's rare to get good kombucha in Berlin. Their kombucha is the best we've tried in Berlin. Only one minus was that it would be nice if they had gluten-free bread as an option. We shared the appetizer-plate and my mum who has coeliac disease didn't get any bread. She's used to it as a coeliac, but it would always be great to have some. One option could be for example some crackers with seeds. Those are super easy to make and stay good for a long time + also those that don't eat gluten-free would be happy with those. I think these crackers would have been a great option with the starters.

One afternoon I left work with my colleagues and we didn't know where to have dinner, by chance we entered the Botánico café and what luck. The staff was always friendly and attentive, making an effort to ensure that we had a table (no Berliner Schnauze). Once seated, the food was delicious and abundant. The perfect seasonal risotto, Tiramisu and antipasti. The prices are adequate. I recommend it. I'll definitely come back

Brought my mom here when visiting Berlin and it was so good, my mom wanted to come back again! The atmosphere is beautiful, they have a luscious garden out back for you to wander and see all the fresh herbs and veg they use. The food was so delicious! Janis is an incredible chef. He recommended dishes to order and I can say he did not disappoint. Beautifully presented, bursting with flavour and so fresh! Make sure to order all three tapas, and definitely eat the pasta!

It's an unusual idyllic place. It's better to be on terrasse than inside (in the basement). The service is amiable, without any "too much". The dishes are delicious and locally sourced. It's a shame there is no fish on the menu, but it's Berlin...

Wir sind extra durch die ganze Stadt von Prenzlauer Berg in's Botanico gefahren. Hatten bereits auf der idyllischen Terrasse Platz genommen und uns schon unsere Speisen ausgesucht (Pasta mit Wurst). Dann wollte ich einen Wein dazu auswählen und dann kam's: Im Botanico gibt's keinen Alkohol. Man kann lediglich Gin zum Mitnehmen kaufen für 38 EUR die Flasche. Man darf auch keinen Wein mitbringen und dann für Korkgeld im Lokal geniessen. Somit haben wir uns beim freundlichen Kellner verabschieden müssen und begaben uns in's Restaurant Z, wo wir uns auf diesen Schreck erstmal ein Glas kühles Bier genehmigen mussten.

Highly recommended! It was very loud and busy, but the staff was very friendly despite being busy. Our starter was initially forgotten, but then came very quickly when we asked and everything was delicious, especially the vegan tapas and the vegan main course with mushrooms.

The presentation of the food is appealing and the ambience is nice, but we were disappointed by the price-performance ratio. 20 euros per plate, the chicken had more skin than meat, the polenta was tasteless and the main courses were simply too small to fill you up (we ate something at home afterwards, although we really don't have to eat large portions to fill us up).

An inconspicuous street restaurant from the outside, nice and cozy inside, but what's special is the garden. Here you can sit and eat wonderfully, quietly and in the middle of densely overgrown greenery. The food is delicious, the service is friendly and multilingual.
