Café Botanico in Berlin

Very nice location with very friendly staff and inspiring food. Although the menu is manageable, it is difficult to decide between the many delicacies. There is also a beautiful garden. It's definitely a hit in the summer. We'd love to come back.

With the exception of a starter plate where the advertised artichokes were missing, the food was, as always, very tasty and interestingly prepared with fresh ingredients. Only the staff wasn't very customer oriented and extremely unfriendly. Not wanting to take drinks orders individually and not bring them individually is really impossible in a room that is not particularly large and only 3 tables are occupied. Absolute no go!

Beautiful restaurant, amazing food and service.

I can't cook such imaginative dishes at home, especially with such perfection. Even though it was a full house, the staff were able to create a cozy, personal atmosphere without seeming hectic. The currently non-alcoholic drinks were also a revelation for me. I felt good all around.

Excellently prepared vegetables, the portions were generous and the food in general was great. Because I'm a cook myself, I'm pretty picky about well spiced dishes, the quality of produce, and this was one of the best dining experiences of the month. The service staff is competent and friendly and attentive. Definitely a place I will return to.

This place was a beautiful discovery on our recent trip to Berlin. It had been recommended and it didn’t disappoint. The two course lunch was beyond delicious, stunningly fresh with beautiful flavour, there was real love in these dishes. The drinks were also standout and the garden gorgeous. Lovely staff too who took the time to translate for us! Will definitely be back.

The food was delicious, the homemade fermented redcurrant dressing on the salad blew me away. Really lovely fresh food and some amazing tea made with dried ingredients from the on-site garden. The staff were lovely and happy to help even though my German wasn’t good at all. It’s a great urban permaculture garden, I strongly recommend a visit, a garden tour and to talk with the Cafe Botanico team if you’re interested in urban farming, growing & permaculture.

I recently ate at Café Botanica for the first time with a friend and we were both very excited to have discovered this wonderful café. The food was simply delicious, we ordered ravioli and polenta & celery schnitzel, tiramisu and tea. Everything was first class and for me it was the best thing I've eaten in a restaurant in a long time. I am a passionate cook at home and critical when I go out to eat somewhere. The service is also great, very friendly, attentive people. Sweet location in one of Neukölln's most beautiful streets, certainly only better in summer when you can sit in the garden. Be sure to try the homemade teas and lemonades. In short: a nice little insider tip and definitely recommended!

Unser Besuch im Botanic Berlin war leider durchweg unbefriedigend, mit nur wenigen positiven Aspekten. Negativ: Ein Hauptproblem war die Kommunikation mit der Bedienung. Wir hatten explizit ein Gericht ohne Schärfe bestellt, was uns auch bestätigt wurde. Als das Essen serviert wurde, war es dennoch scharf. Nach einer Reklamation wurde uns ein neues Gericht gebracht, das angeblich nicht scharf sein sollte – doch auch dieses war erneut scharf. Es wirkte, als scheitere es sowohl an klarer Kommunikation als auch an der Kompetenz, einfache Wünsche umzusetzen. Zusätzlich war die Atmosphäre laut und unübersichtlich, was es schwer machte, sich wohlzufühlen. Die Wartezeiten waren unangenehm lang, und die Tafel mit den Wochenangeboten wurde so schnell wieder weggenommen, dass wir keine Chance hatten, die Optionen gründlich zu prüfen. Positiv: Einige der Vorspeisen waren durchaus gut abgeschmeckt und zeigten Potenzial. Dennoch war die Qualität der Speisen insgesamt durchwachsen – die Nudeln waren unterschiedlich gegart, die Würze oft unausgewogen.

Wir haben unsere Betriebsweihnachtsfeier im Café Botanico begangen. Die beste Idee jemals! Die einstündige Führung durch den Garten war auch für Flora-Laien ein Hochgenuß und der großartige Guide hat uns mit seiner Leidenschaft für Pflanzen und das Gärtnern so mitgerissen, dass wir jetzt alle selbst Hochbeete anlegen werden. Vieles, was wir im Garten gesehen haben, kam bei unserem köstlichen Menü auf den Tisch. Eine Empfehlung für Alle, die versteckte Hinterhöfe mit wundervollen Gärten entdecken wollen, und diejenigen, die gerne sehr gut und gesund essen.

Small, cozy restaurant with a small but fine menu. The dishes are beautifully presented and topped with herbs from our own garden. First a feast for the eyes and then for the taste buds. I'll be back! Be sure to reserve!

Ein sogenanntes Restaurant, welches sich selbst durch eigene Produkte und biologische Küche hervortun möchte. Das Essen ist ok, m.E. ūberteuert und es gibt eine sehr eingeschränkte Auswahl. Aus unverständlichen Gründen darf kein Wein serviert werden. Als Ersatz selbst gemachte Säfte ecc... Man scheint auf der Biowelle und einer mediteranen Küche mitschwimmen zu wollen. Wer's mag...

We took the garden tour with a 3-course menu afterwards and can only recommend it. You get a whole new connection to wild herbs that you previously just viewed as “weeds”. The food was lovingly and specially prepared. We definitely recommend trying the pesto! Tastes very Italian (and that comes from an Italian). Thank you for the beautiful and inspiring day....

The Café Botanico is a real insider tip! In the middle of the urban hustle and bustle of Neukölln This cafe/restaurant offers a beautiful permaculture garden a little break from everyday life. The café and restaurant is run with a lot of love - you can feel that in every detail. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the garden is a little paradise. The food is fantastic! Some of the ingredients come directly from our own garden, which gives the dishes an incomparable freshness and quality. The prices are absolutely fair, especially when you consider the quality and the unique concept. If you are looking for a place to switch off, eat sustainably and deliciously and at the same time enjoy nature in the middle of the city, this is the right place for you.

The dishes tasted absolutely amazing. I was particularly happy about the homemade kombucha. Finally a tasty and fresh change from the usual soft drinks.

Great food, amazing kombucha and wonderful service. Me and my husband are big kombucha fans (we also brew our own at home) and it's rare to get good kombucha in Berlin. Their kombucha is the best we've tried in Berlin. Only one minus was that it would be nice if they had gluten-free bread as an option. We shared the appetizer-plate and my mum who has coeliac disease didn't get any bread. She's used to it as a coeliac, but it would always be great to have some. One option could be for example some crackers with seeds. Those are super easy to make and stay good for a long time + also those that don't eat gluten-free would be happy with those. I think these crackers would have been a great option with the starters.

One afternoon I left work with my colleagues and we didn't know where to have dinner, by chance we entered the Botánico café and what luck. The staff was always friendly and attentive, making an effort to ensure that we had a table (no Berliner Schnauze). Once seated, the food was delicious and abundant. The perfect seasonal risotto, Tiramisu and antipasti. The prices are adequate. I recommend it. I'll definitely come back

Brought my mom here when visiting Berlin and it was so good, my mom wanted to come back again! The atmosphere is beautiful, they have a luscious garden out back for you to wander and see all the fresh herbs and veg they use. The food was so delicious! Janis is an incredible chef. He recommended dishes to order and I can say he did not disappoint. Beautifully presented, bursting with flavour and so fresh! Make sure to order all three tapas, and definitely eat the pasta!

It's an unusual idyllic place. It's better to be on terrasse than inside (in the basement). The service is amiable, without any "too much". The dishes are delicious and locally sourced. It's a shame there is no fish on the menu, but it's Berlin...

Wir sind extra durch die ganze Stadt von Prenzlauer Berg in's Botanico gefahren. Hatten bereits auf der idyllischen Terrasse Platz genommen und uns schon unsere Speisen ausgesucht (Pasta mit Wurst). Dann wollte ich einen Wein dazu auswählen und dann kam's: Im Botanico gibt's keinen Alkohol. Man kann lediglich Gin zum Mitnehmen kaufen für 38 EUR die Flasche. Man darf auch keinen Wein mitbringen und dann für Korkgeld im Lokal geniessen. Somit haben wir uns beim freundlichen Kellner verabschieden müssen und begaben uns in's Restaurant Z, wo wir uns auf diesen Schreck erstmal ein Glas kühles Bier genehmigen mussten.

Highly recommended! It was very loud and busy, but the staff was very friendly despite being busy. Our starter was initially forgotten, but then came very quickly when we asked and everything was delicious, especially the vegan tapas and the vegan main course with mushrooms.

The presentation of the food is appealing and the ambience is nice, but we were disappointed by the price-performance ratio. 20 euros per plate, the chicken had more skin than meat, the polenta was tasteless and the main courses were simply too small to fill you up (we ate something at home afterwards, although we really don't have to eat large portions to fill us up).

An inconspicuous street restaurant from the outside, nice and cozy inside, but what's special is the garden. Here you can sit and eat wonderfully, quietly and in the middle of densely overgrown greenery. The food is delicious, the service is friendly and multilingual.

We rented Café Botanico to celebrate with our families from Italy the night before our wedding. The food was wonderful, the staff fantastic and the location beautiful. All guests were very satisfied. Lunch Review: The garden at this restaurant is quite beautiful, providing a pleasant atmosphere. However, the lunch experience was disappointing. The menu is primarily paninis, so I was surprised by how slow the service was. It took about 30 minutes for our paninis to arrive, 10 minutes to receive the menus, and another 10 minutes for payment — much longer than expected. The paninis themselves were underwhelming. While they were made with fresh ingredients, the flavors were not particularly interesting, and the bread was overly chewy rather than crunchy. Overall, it was a disappointing visit, which is unfortunate given how nice the garden looks.

Spontaneously checked this place out after smelling something nice from the street. Best decision ever. Had the most amazing sandwiches and coffee for lunch with herbs and ingredients grown from the permaculture garden in the back.

I went to Café Botanic for the first time yesterday and it was so delicious. Several of us sat in the beautiful garden, the service was very nice and competent, explained all the questions about the food, the food was delicious and plentiful. a successful evening. Highly recommended.

Four of us were there recently, invited for my birthday. Although we had booked two weeks in advance, we apparently weren't "scheduled" and a really bad spot was cleared out for us right at the constantly used counter. After some (not particularly nice) discussions we got another free table, which apparently wasn't booked by anyone else, unfortunately also inside, so what. Then it took a long time for the order to be taken and a VERY much longer time for the food to arrive. The waitress at our table was very nice and noticed that we were a bit annoyed, which was a clear plus. I found the food (like all of us) rather mediocre for the price and reputation. The fresh evening primrose flowers were great on almost everything we ate, but that alone doesn't encourage ME to come back.

We made a reservation, the system didn't take it and the waiters said we are responsible for not checking the confirmation mail, and they didn't even say sorry nor offer an aperitif like proper service duty demands. I asked for a Weisen Bier and they gave me one that tasted like lemon without informing. Again they didn't give a solution. Food was average and really low quantity on a huge plate, for €20 each. Would not go back nor recommend it. Garden is nice

Really a beautiful garden, perfect for a summer evening, everything was very lovingly designed. Some of the food was delicious (actually all of the main courses), but unfortunately the starters were disappointing and - it has to be said - overall it was far too expensive for what was on offer.

This place is a true gem. Not only the food was extremely good, but the service was amazing. Dishes are made simple but really tasty and home made. They use herbs and products from their local garden which makes everything more sotenable. Do not miss out on visiting the garden, such a lovely place to have a drink before your dinner. And the waitresses there were all extremely lovely and careful with our allergies inquiries. Many vegan options, all of them delicious 😋 The burrata is one of the best I have ever tried and the vegan pasta was sooo good!

A wonderful magical place! A beautiful garden and great food. We were invited to a wedding, which we spent there in a cool, pleasant and somewhat alternative environment. The food was great.

Short review: While the location is beautiful and the food was tasty, we will never go back because of the service. Long version: We had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. We had a reservation for 8 pm on 26.07.2024, and I arrived on time. I stood in the middle of the dining room for several minutes without any acknowledgment from the staff. There were four waiters: one occupied at the counter with a paying customer, and the other three just running around. Not once did any of them greet me, make eye contact, or say, "I'll be right with you." After waiting a while, one of the waiters finally asked me to wait a bit longer. The waiter at the counter, once done with the paying customer, didn't attend to me. Several minutes later, he finally looked up and asked about my reservation. He found our reservation and told me the table wasn’t ready, without any apologies, and then, when he saw I was upset, asked with an attitude, "Is that okay?" What happened next was unbelievable. The waiter approached a couple who seemed to be done with their meal and essentially asked them to leave so he could give us their table. They left shortly after, and the staff began cleaning and setting up the table for us. Mind you, it was already well into our reservation time. The same waiter started preparing the table but was replaced by a waitress midway through, who then took orders from a table next to ours instead of calling us over. We were left standing in the middle of the dining room until we stopped the waitress and asked if the table was ready. She acted surprised and said, "Oh, I didn't know YOU were waiting for it," even though we were the only ones standing and waiting. Once seated, we ordered drinks and a plate of three appetizers to share. One of my friends chose a burrata, while the other friend and I ordered main dishes (pasta). Our drinks arrived after a long wait, but they forgot the beer. Then, they served the burrata and one appetizer instead of the plate of three we ordered. My friend had to go to the counter to ask for the beer. The appetizers were mostly salad-like and shouldn't have taken long to prepare, but we still had to wait. We hoped the other two appetizers would come later, but they never did. After finishing the one appetizer and the burrata, the waitress asked if we enjoyed it, and we mentioned the missing appetizers. She looked surprised, apologized, and asked if we still wanted them, but at this point, we just wanted our main dishes. The main courses were really tasty, which was the only positive part of the evening, but they also took a while to arrive. By the time we finished, we were ready to leave as quickly as possible. One of my friends tried to get the staff's attention to get our bill, but no one noticed, so we decided to go to the counter to pay. The final straw was the billing process. They didn't use a tablet or a proper cash register. The waitress wrote everything down on a piece of paper that pretended to be a receipt and had to check the prices in the menu. The good thing is you can pay by card. It's a shame because the restaurant has a nice concept with its own permaculture garden for herbs and plants and a cute terrace. The food was good, but the service ruined the entire experience. We won’t be returning.

Perfect place with best food and drinks!

I was here on a Friday evening. The food was edible, but not convincing. In particular, the polenta with oyster mushrooms that I had was pretty bland. The whole thing was too expensive for what it was. The atmosphere in the garden is relaxed and beautiful. The 2 hours that are set aside for the reservations are very short if you eat an appetizer.

I had been looking forward to eating here for a while and unfortunately I have to say how disappointing it was. All of the dishes were flat in taste, barely seasoned or cleverly prepared and the portions were hard to look for with a magnifying glass. That means you pay a lot of money for boring vegetables. My companion said that a glass of Hipp would have had more flavor and would have been cheaper for us. Oh well. The inner courtyard is very nice, but unfortunately the service was also typical Berlin. Student temporary worker who was unfortunately overwhelmed with the job. All in all, not worth the money for the high bill.

I still think back to this cafe 2 years later. Great breakfast, great garden, great honey, great people.

Unfortunately I can't really recommend this restaurant, the 3 stars are because the service was very friendly. The white wine was almost inedible, very sour and not really cold and many people can certainly cook the food better at home. My risotto tasted okay, but was far too watery and not creamy. Unfortunately, my husband's pasta tasted like pasta from the package that was cooked way too al dente and the sauce wasn't anything special either. The main courses cost 16 and 17 euros - I expect more for that. It's a shame because the restaurant itself is nice!

A true delight in the middle of Berlin. For those who like the alternative then this is a must. Fantastic location. We sat in the garden. Amazing and inventive menu for both food and drink . I had the vegan tapas and it was a true delight, and the house cocktail, a burst of summer in a glass. I advise booking in advance, its small but oh so big in experience. Some might think a bit pricey but worth every cent. I look forward to coming back 😊

Great shop that doesn't feel like a restaurant, but rather like you're sitting comfortably at a friend's home and being served excellent food. The selection of dishes is varied and every single dish is delicious, including many vegan options. The atmosphere is fantastic and you shouldn't miss the walk through the garden! Hidden gem. The garden in the backyard is a little paradise but you would not think it’s there when walking by the cafe from the street side. Very chill atmosphere and super friendly attentive staff. Please bring back the weekend brunch menu! :)

My mom looked for a long time for a suitable place to celebrate her 70th birthday. Then she discovered Café Botanico and it was her great wish to be able to visit it there. Contact with Martin was friendly and accommodating right from the start. She was able to bring in her wishes and the evening was individually adapted to her wishes, so that there was a super interesting tour of the restaurant's herb garden before the meal. The evening itself was a success right from the start. The entire team was very friendly, pleasantly calm and we didn't feel like we were strangers. The food was to die for and I was also helped to keep my surprise a secret by routing the band through a different entrance. Many thanks to Martin and his great team! My guests and I were thrilled by the tour of the magic garden with all its wild herbs, which is part of the “Botanico”. The excellent cuisine, from the variety of delicious starters to the high-quality main courses and the delicious dessert, was a culinary highlight. We immediately felt very comfortable in the “Botanico”, everything fits together, seems easy and natural, which is definitely due to the friendly, attentive service. I’ve visited here three times with my boyfriend, and we consider it the best restaurant in Berlin. It's a humble and cool place with its own vegetable garden. Unlike many fine dining restaurants, their food is not pretentious but genuinely honest. Despite this, each menu item is crafted with care and a high level of quality. The cozy atmosphere makes us want to return again. :) Personally, I enjoy the antipasti menu and the meat dishes. The tiramisu is the best! 😊

The food wasn't anything special, but the garden is just beautiful!

The place is very nice and intimate, there isn't much space inside but we had booked a table and had a good time. The dishes were also very good. The service was a little slow and not very nice, but all in all it went well. Price of dishes in line with the quality of the proposals. I recommend it, even for a visit to the external courtyard where there are the plants also used for their dishes!

Delicious organic food and wine, in season harvest comes from their own permaculture garden connected to the restaurant. Place is small (in winter) so you would want to make a reservation in advance. Friendly people.

The place is very nice and cosy! I like the philosophy of seasonal cooking. The products they offer as starters are good, the cheeses in particular! The first courses are not exactly conventional. For example the risotto with plenty of broth, or in the pasta with walnut pesto the marked use of spices such as cloves that envelop and cover every other flavour. Beautiful, reminiscent of Christmas and Christmas markets, if you like spices. The open kitchen is nice. I suppose it is a slow food restaurant; although a few tables were occupied, we waited two hours unfortunately we didn't know.

It was just good. Food very good. Service is nice, what more could you want. We will be back.

Amazing place, great food, nice people

Went there today. Asked them if we could sit outside as there were lots of free tables outside but she refused us. Then we asked if we could see the menu and she very unprofessionally and unnecessarily bursted out at us and made us feel quite weird and said this is not a self-service restaurant. “Sit there and she will bring the menu. You can not see the menu here” In the end we just left considering her unfriendliness and unprofessional behaviour. I guess the girl there needs to work on her customer service. Wont recommend eating or drinking there except a walk in the garden.

The food was very tasty and fresh. The portions, however, were really small (at least the vegetarian/vegan options). We also hoped to see at least one more vegan option for the main dish. Looking forward to coming here in summer to see the garden.

Der Vorspeisenteller hatte eigentlich "nur" normales Gemüse - dafür aber perfekt Gewürzt und die Garzeit wurde auf den Punkt getroffen. Insbesondere Zwiebel und Brokkoli schaffe ich Zuhause so einfach nicht :) und dafür gehe ich dann ins Restaurant! Die kalamaribällchen waren sehr klein aber ebenso exquisit!

Un endroit fantastique à Berlin, autant pour flâner dans le magnifique jardin-potager que pour déguster un excellent dîner italien avec des produits de saison et en partie issus du potager lui-même. Quant au service, l'équipe est toujours souriante et serviable pour un rapport qualité prix parfait. Je recommande à 100% !!

Waren spontan dort, obwohl alles reserviert war wurden wir dennoch empfangen und haben für Café und Tiramisu einen Platz bekommen. Es war sehr lecker und sehr angenehm und freundlich.

Einfach phantastisch! Dieses Café würde ich gern in meine Heimatstadt beamen. Engagiertes, gut gelauntes junges Team. Inspirierte, köstliche Gerichte. Hinter dem Café werden Gemüse und Kräuter angebaut und "verkocht". Wunderbar und besonders in dieser Kombination. Besser geht's kaum.

Absolute Oberklasse. Ich schmelze immer noch dahin.
