Café Asgard in Heringsdorf

We've been coming here for several years whenever we're on Usedom. A few years ago, we were guests at a wedding here and have been impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the staff ever since. The food is delicious. The ambiance and feel of this cafe is absolutely wonderful and unique. I always enjoy coming back!

We visited this beautiful, nostalgic café last year, and we received very friendly and attentive service. This year, everything was different... the service was the same as last year, but completely different. I can honestly say she was very unfriendly; not a single smile crossed her face. It gave me the impression that we were a nuisance and that she didn't want any customers. Not only were we served in such an unfriendly and listless manner, but all the subsequent guests were as well. When I work with people, I expect a certain level of friendliness and interest in the guest. Unfortunately, hospitality looks different to me.

Today, we don't have a good experience to share. The service staff, except for the newly hired staff, was unfriendly. This was a negative. The plaice we ordered looked very nice, but unfortunately, it wasn't warm. The salad in the sauce carafe was drowning in dressing. The ambiance is in keeping with the architectural style, but we had a bit of trouble reading the menu because the lighting was a bit dim. It's a shame; our expectations were higher.

A nice, quaint little restaurant. The dinner was delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. We were extremely satisfied and would love to come back. The history of the restaurant is very interesting and can be read in the lovingly designed menu.

Yes, where should I even begin? You book a table about a month in advance, with confirmation, etc. You go to the front door and say you've booked. "No, your name isn't on it." You have to wait until it's available. You order well in advance anyway." You show the confirmation: "So what? It's been too long." After 15 minutes, we finally got a table. Waiting + ordering. Waiting for the food took over an hour. The food arrived; the tarte flambée was good, but it had a lot of salt. And the meat. The meat was tough. The fillet wasn't tough. Red inside, undercooked. Annoyed when the order was taken. Skillfully ignored when trying to pay. When we went to the restroom, we could see the plates of fillets, all red, all on the plates. The sauce had nothing to do with mustard sauce. More sauce than mustard. We wanted to pay together, waited until a new colleague came and asked the same question. She didn't acknowledge the mistake; she just said, "I couldn't remember." I will never eat here again. I've been here 8 times in total, which is a shame. Such a decline in quality. Please provide training for employees on how to offer friendly and good service despite bad moods and "I'm fed up" statements.

Staff were unfriendly and completely overwhelmed. Despite having a reservation, we didn't get a table prepared. We waited 20 minutes for the menu and didn't even get cutlery for our meal. The table next to us helped us out. Unfortunately, this was the second time we've had this bad experience. It's a shame.

We had lunch at Café Asgard today. It was schnitzel day, and we were looking forward to the meal. What we got, however, was a burnt schnitzel and fried potatoes with no flavor or ingredients. We're definitely not going there again.

Café Asgard, often located in Bansin, is the oldest café on Usedom. Its interesting history is reflected in the menu. It offers a rustic ambiance right on the promenade. The waffle with ice cream, fruit, and whipped cream was delicious. A piece of island history.

We were there in the evening and were unfortunately very disappointed. We sat at a dirty table, which the waitress didn't even wipe down during the meal. Unfortunately, we waited quite a long time for the menu. The lady who served us never smiled – she seemed very bored and unfriendly. The food left a lot to be desired. It was lightly seasoned, the meat was dry... all in all, we really expected a bit more for the price. Our first and last time at this restaurant. The only thing that's really nice is the view of the water from the terrace.

I really like the ambiance inside and out. Unfortunately, I think the service has noticeably declined in recent years. But I still say it's worth a visit.

Furnishings like an old Viennese coffee house. The service is very good. We had tarte flambée in 2 variations and this was the second time and it was tasty again. Schnitzel also tastes very good and the vegetables are nice and firm to the bite.

A romantic café, you feel like you're in moved to another century. Definitely visit.

We only drank coffee there a week ago. The service was very friendly. However, the boss doesn't deserve a star. He loudly insulted his staff in front of the guests. Toilets probably from the 70s.

We had dinner here for the first time after 8 years in Bansin. We didn't make a reservation but still got a table. The Polish waitress Magda was very nice and always on the go, she radiated calmness in contrast to her colleague/boss. He constantly called her to collect money or when new guests came that she should do it. That came across as very pushy, we felt sorry for her that she had to work under the conditions and still have to remain friendly. The boss runs through the café and exudes extreme stress and tension, making you as a guest feel like you are on the run. Despite that, the food was good and we'll definitely be back in the summer.

Totally cute, old-fashioned, charming cafe. We sat outside on the terrace. The coffee was delicious and the cake too. When you walk in you feel like you've been transported back in time. Rose wallpaper on the walls, beautiful old cafe furniture and Zara Leander singing old songs in the background. The menu is really funny, with lots of comments about the drinks and the pattern of the rose wallpaper can also be found there. You can also find something about the history of the café. Tradition everywhere you look.

Formerly a well-kept coffee house with tradition, today a restaurant with lunch with an average price and performance ratio. Well suited for quick eating and drinking, even for children.

It was a beautiful evening, I had dinner here with my family. The food took a while to arrive, but good things take time. It tasted very good and was beautifully and lovingly garnished. The ambience is truly unforgettable, you feel like you have been transported back to the 1960s, in a positive sense. Here it's just a matter of staying in the moment, dropping anchor and slowing down. Beautiful!!!

Inexpensive, good food but nothing special. You have to like the ambience with flowery fabric wallpaper, which was the case with us. More of an older audience.

Very delicious restaurant with very friendly service 👌🏻 My wife and I ordered two onion schnitzels (highly recommended). It was simply one of the best schnitzels I've had in a long time 🤤👌🏻 Many thanks to the team, and I will definitely be back with my family 👏🏻 P.S. If you like old-fashioned (rustic) food or want to see something different than the new, this is definitely the place for you with its atmosphere and decor, as well as its good old-fashioned home cooking.

The schnitzels were very tasty, the fried potatoes were beautifully prepared and the homemade tartar sauce was absolutely delicious. Other dishes, as well as the selection of cakes, also looked very tasty. There are numerous action days with different dishes. The prices are also fair, the service was very friendly, and the waiting times were short (approx. 20-30 minutes). The restaurant will be visited again on our next Baltic Sea holiday. Only the furnishings are old-fashioned, but that is also part of the charm of the restaurant; the history of the house has been preserved.

Both of us weren't thrilled...fish dishes are tastier here, you can give yourself the salad bowl with the ready-made sauce...the lady from the service was in a bad mood. It's a shame for such a historic house.

Fish platter is a disappointment. For over 20€ it's more like a children's or senior's plate. High prices, little on top. Cafe is dark, musty and cramped. The service was very bad-tempered and unfriendly. There are many nice restaurants and cafés in Bansin, you don't have to have this one.

The waffles are a dream 😋🤩 and the coffee is also delicious. Friendly service. A must!!!

Very good offers, old ambience very cozy.

Unfortunately we were deceived by the beautiful outdoor area and the many guests. We had the fish platter with fried potatoes. My wife's fish (I think it was cod, redfish and zander) tasted like it had already been warmed up. Mine was ok but nothing special. The fried potatoes would have been better called fat-labble potatoes. There wasn't much with Brat now. In my opinion, they were also similar to pre-cut potato slices that you would find in a package. To my taste, the salad dressing also seemed to be a ready-made dressing. I think thanks to the location and the good tourist traffic, you don't necessarily have to pay attention to quality. But it's not really feasible because of the relatively low prices. In my opinion, if you want to eat well, you're definitely in the wrong place here.

Super nice café in the old style, very individual and full of history, I don't know anything comparable. We were there for dinner in the evening, by the window with a view of the sea, the liver Berlin style was great, the bottle of Chardonnay was also very good! The operation and service was attentive and friendly, there is nothing negative, only recommended!

There are flowery wallpapers, cozy tiled stoves and furniture that could have come from that era. The subdued music fits the ambience - "A little green cactus..." etc. - has something of a "burlesque" feel to it.

We had the Wiener Schnitzel and it was fantastic.

We particularly liked the ambience and the extremely friendly and resilient service - after all, we were there with 3 small children. Children's chairs available. The food was delicious, the fish soup was particularly good. Price/performance was right, Portions sufficient. The ice cream afterwards was mega, mega big, mega delicious. I would happily recommend the restaurant.

Went there on the advice of a friend. It is the oldest restaurant on Usedom with a lot of charm. In the chronicle (integrated in the menu) you can find out a lot of interesting facts - including who was there 100 years ago.

Food was really excellent. Interior like before. However, after a while the music just becomes annoying.

Unfortunately, this café is run very carelessly, which exudes the charm of a bad kebab shop including staff. The cake is not homemade as advertised, but ready-made for 4.50 euros a piece. Hectic pace, overwhelmed service and a boss who can't be ignored don't create a calm atmosphere. A full counter, cold coffee in a dirty cup and thawed cake in a worn-out cafe only warrant 1 star. Unfortunately there is nothing left of the charm of this old café.

Three years after our first visit (for which I gave it five stars at the time) we ate there again. The prices of the drinks are completely exorbitant. Fried potatoes never saw the inside of a pan but came from the deep fryer or something similar. The consistency and taste is like chips. Some of the frozen cream vegetables were still cold. Only the schnitzels were ok. We won't be coming back.

This café/restaurant is located directly on Bansin's beach promenade. Is probably the oldest café in Usedom. So far so good. Maybe it's nice to sit on the terrace in warm weather and enjoy a piece of cake or ice cream. The dining room is cozy, but worn. We went for dinner and it was subpar. Cod with fried potatoes and mixed vegetables for 22.90. The cod died in the pan for the second time. Completely dry, you couldn't even get a third of the meat off the skin. The mixed vegetables were frozen goods, warmed up and kept warm for a long time, no salt, no pepper, no butter - tasteless and leached. The fried potatoes were ok. The friendly waitress responded to our complaint: "Unfortunately we don't have a cook in the kitchen either." It was clear to us, but who would try their luck in this kitchen? Something like that doesn't work! For these prices and the sales in this restaurant you will find a chef! And if not, then this kitchen should close! Every fish sandwich in Bansin has more style and taste than this meal. Not good and not worth visiting for food, even for half the price.

The café is of course an institution and is known to (almost) everyone. It's all the better that despite the demand and the location right on the promenade, the prices are still okay and we got a table without any problems (in the afternoon). The service is nice and quick, the food may not have been gourmet, but it was quite good. A visit here is practically a must if you are in Bansin/Heringsdorf/Ahlbeck.

We were in the restaurant on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. because the dishes on the outside tables had appealed to us during the day. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. We also had to wait over an hour for our food, but the other guests felt the same way. The liver "Berliner Style" was not only fried to death, it also contained pieces of meat that were not liver and absolutely impossible to chew. The imperial vegetables are frozen and neither salted nor seasoned. The side dishes were all cold. The only positive thing was the service from the waitress, who was the only service person who was very overworked, but did her best.

Café Asgard really has a very special charm. We felt very comfortable and were there several times. The food tastes good and the staff was friendly. But we particularly liked the decor and the music that went with it! Simply cozy.

A visit to this magical café is a must for us on every holiday on Usedom! With one of the many coffee or tea specialties, a rich waffle or a piece of homemade cake based on an old family recipe, you will be transported back to an old, romantic time in this restaurant. Be it the music, the original furniture from the last century or the attentive waitress... Everything in this restaurant invites you to feel good, linger and be enchanted.

Very cozy cafe / restaurant. The building fits the resort architecture on Usedom and is also beautifully decorated inside. We were there for coffee/cake. Homemade cakes, good coffee or tea, everything is available. We'd love to come back.

Schon beim Betreten ein Wow Effekt. Kleine Nischen und Ecken im geschichtsträchtigen Ambiente. Hier fühlt man sich gleich wohl. Interessant ist die Geschichte des ältesten Cafés der Insel, die man in der Speisekarte lesen kann. Wir hatten Torte und verschiedene Kaffeespezialitäten. Alles war lecker. Die 2 Bedienungen waren trotz voll besetzter Tische freundlich. Die Wartezeit haben wir deshalb auch toleriert und konnten so die Einrichtung in Ruhe auf uns wirken lassen. Hier ist der ideale Ort um zur Ruhe zu kommen und zu genießen. Das war unser erster, aber auf keinen Fall der letzte Besuch.

Quaint ambience in rustic surroundings, cozy and cozy, that's what the place is about, one of the oldest locations in Bansin. Our dog (medium-sized) was allowed but a reservation in advance is a must for anyone who wants to be pampered with culinary delights here. All in all, you have to have been in Asgard and for Marvel fans, Thor and Heimdahl are not standing at the gate as security.

After a big disappointment at the Bierkutscher (pub in Bansin, see also review ), we were warmly welcomed into this hospitality and got a table despite the place being full. The service was very attentive and you could tell that you were welcome. Of course also because of sales. The food was good, but also developmental. We would visit this cafe again and again.

We had dinner around 1:30 p.m. The service wasn't particularly friendly, but tried hard. Food was great. Both kangaroo lash and pork medallions. Meat was great, everything was delicious. Yes, it took a while, but I prefer that 1000 times more than having the food warmed up after 5 minutes.... The ambience is nostalgic, fitting for the oldest cafe/restaurant. Dogs were also allowed in.

Stopping for a good coffee in the island's oldest café is something very special. The right music for the stylish furnishings, in a quiet and cozy atmosphere. In autumn or winter, especially when the weather is bad, the beach promenade between Bansin and Heringsdorf is the best place to take a break and then continue your walk or hike.

Es war kein Problem ein vegetarisches Essen nach Wunsch (Salat, Hirtenkäse und Bratkartoffeln) zusammenzustellen, als weiteres saisonales Gericht Enten Keule mit Rosenkohl und Kartoffelbrei mit Orangensauce war gut und schmackhaft zubereitet. Ausreichende Portionen und gutes PreisLeistungsverhältnis.

We were very disappointed during our visit this year. Had ordered a table for “Die Feuerzangenbowle”. When we arrived, our table was occupied by guests who were waiting for their ordered table. The Feuerzangenbowle ordered for the film was only lukewarm and only tasted sour and bitter. Had nothing to do with Feuerzangenbowle. The waffle with cherries I ordered was covered in drained, cold cherries from the jar, and my wife had a 2-cent-sized spot of the whipped cream that came with it. Sorry, I can't put something like that out there. The ambience: except for the old television and the always funny film, unfortunately cruel. In the neighboring, open bar, the boss was arguing the whole time with the only waitress, guests constantly walking through the picture disrupted the hoped-for cozy evening, which unfortunately turned out to be a bust, just like the dog three tables next to us, who kept shaking and shaking whined around. When I organize such events as a restaurateur, I have to set priorities so that the guests have a pleasant evening.

I have to write a negative review here. The schnitzel was retort and burnt from the deep fryer itself, and there were ready-made fried potatoes, which is a disgrace to charge 19.50 EUR for. Then I forgot about the sticky onions. It wasn't even snack food. The friendly staff didn't do anything wrong.

Hello everyone. Oh man, where to start? We were here once with friends in 2023 and it was okay. It tasted good and the service was great. However, since it is a bit dark in here, you can hardly read the menu. The writing is right over a bunch of flowers. The ambience is not wrong, but some things should be freshened up and rethought. Last week we were there again and what can I say, it got worse. 2 Polish service staff, trying to bring the guests what they ordered as quickly as possible, but the male part tried to be strange in some way, which none of us understood and with each order he took an eternity to enter it into his little tablet. The neighbor's fries were cold and the schnitzel was quite dry. The crowning glory of it all, however, was the imperial vegetables. Given the prices, I expect fresh produce on the plate and not frozen vegetables at Rewe or Edeka. You could see it in the carrot slices. These have the slight wave cut. Well, then it was probably the evening of “Die Feuerzangenbowle”. Actually it wasn't a problem if you could still have a conversation. However, this was not possible given the volume. My conclusion, change something, otherwise I'll soon see blackout for you and that would be very sad that this restaurant has been around for more than 100 years. We won't be coming to you for the time being. It's a real shame, but we're not giving up on you yet. Do something.

Time has stopped here. It's always nice to have a coffee, tea or mulled wine there. The food is also very good. Every day there are promotions on various dishes (e.g. Monday and Wednesday 20% on all schnitzels) Overall, however, the prices are rather high

Very nice restaurant with a great atmosphere

It was a little journey back in time with the most delicious plum cake and the most aromatic coffee in the most cozy atmosphere, just the way we liked it. It was storming and raining constantly outside and it was incredibly comfortable inside! A real highlight during our holiday on Usedom. We came here on a recommendation and were not disappointed.

The furnishings are really very old-fashioned. 20 euros for Kaiserschnitzel with seasoned meat, croquettes and vegetables - all frozen - is a bit too much for me personally. The food was otherwise quite ok, the taste was quite bland. Schnitzel became a little too dark and hard on the sides. The map is very colorful and therefore difficult to read.
