Very cute and cozy café. Super friendly service. We come here several times a year because we love it so much. The location right on the water is also perfect. ❤️❤️❤️❤️💐

Unfortunately, we fell for the 20% discount on schnitzel dishes on Monday and Wednesday. We didn't get homemade fried potatoes, but rather something from a bag, and the schnitzel was a commercial schnitzel. They recoup the alleged discount through the high prices of drinks. In the café itself, everything was very dark and crowded. We regretted our visit.

A cozy restaurant with a nostalgic feel from the 1920s in Bansin. Excellent fish dishes, as well as a selection of coffee, tea, and cakes in the afternoon, and a terrace in nice weather.

A cult restaurant. They play old-school music, like shellac. It's certainly especially interesting for older people. The food was delicious. The service was good.

We had fish dishes with mixed vegetables, which tasted like they were made from frozen food. The fish portion was good and generous, though. The staff was Nordic-friendly, except for the only gentleman serving, who was kind and friendly to his guests. A flashlight is recommended when reading the menu, as it's very dark in the restaurant. Furthermore, the background paper of the menu is so dark that it's generally very difficult to read the menu items.

The service was great! Friendly and fast. The ambiance inside is really lovely, old-fashioned and historic. The food was also impeccable. I've always been full so far; I especially recommend the desserts!

I drank Campari and hot chocolate. Both were good. The interior is worth seeing. And the drinks menu has a great review of the café. A must-read.

A lovely, friendly restaurant with daily specials, but unfortunately, the portions are adjusted accordingly! Today we waited 15 minutes for the menu and then left...other tables got their menus right away, perhaps because of the dog we had with us. It wasn't a problem on our first visit, though...

Yesterday, September 17, 2025, we were at the Asgard restaurant to enjoy the advertised Baltic plaice, which isn't discounted on Wednesdays, but we accepted that. What we were served was a total disgrace! A burnt fish that was 90% boneless, tasteless, and priced at a high price! The salad was served in a small sauce bowl that was impossible to eat! We decided to pay immediately. This restaurant is not recommended, and we will never go there again. 👎

Service was very friendly and fast! Atmosphere: OK, it's a matter of taste, but you can check it out beforehand and take a look. It's just a shame that the dim lighting, which is quite nice for coffee, remains the same for dinner. We had fish. You can't see the bones in such dim light... Plus, the fish was very dry, and the fried potatoes were cooked way overcooked, some of them hard and dry. So, the food was OK, although not quite worth the price. And if they used larger plates, you wouldn't have to pile everything on top of each other... Dinner definitely has room for improvement...

Super delicious food, freshly prepared, so we did have to wait a bit for the food, but that wasn't a problem for us. The service was very friendly and fun, which was well received by the guests. The café is highly recommended; we'll be happy to return.

Lousy service, the food is a disgrace. Everything seems to be fried, the potatoes are raw. The schnitzel is of the lowest quality. Nothing seems to be fresh here, even the potato pancakes for the kids are frozen.

Sorry but that was nothing, the ambience is very nice but everything else was a disaster when staff walk past 10 times without asking if you want to order something, you press an order pager and nothing happens, then after more than 20 minutes someone comes along and holds up your menu and asks directly what you want to order and that takes forever again, 1 beer and something else I hadn't picked out in a few seconds and a piece of cake plus a pot of coffee and in between you also notice what a bad atmosphere prevails there, someone is messing everyone up and making the chaos even bigger, the cashiering also took what an eternity. Other guests understandably left at some point. Normally I would have done the same but I wanted to see how it all went. I never write negative reviews like this but this just doesn't work and it doesn't make up for the fact that the cake was tasty, just for that it gets a 2nd star, we certainly won't go there again.

Friendly and quick service. The beer garden is located on the beach promenade and is always busy. We enjoyed our food very much. We would be happy to come back.

Absolutely not recommended. The liver was extremely dry and in no way even remotely reminiscent of freshly prepared liver. This would have been virtually impossible given the short time it took to order and serve it. Poorly presented. A pile of mashed potatoes covered in liver. The biggest question: What were the numerous pieces of potato doing among the pieces of liver, which were served with mashed potatoes anyway? Well stretched, half the battle. Haven't had such a bad meal in a long time. Of the five dishes I ordered, three of my guests were dissatisfied. A somewhat embarrassing evening for me.

The ambiance was quaint. The staff was friendly and quick despite the restaurant being full. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the standard. We had plaice and Hawaiian schnitzel. The plaice was a bit bland, and the fried potatoes only had a very brief appearance in the pan. Adding more seasoning was a bit of a waste, as both the fries were sticky on the inside. The schnitzel was unfortunately very dry, and the fries were soggy. It's a shame; we came here on a recommendation, but can't recommend it to anyone.

The food at the restaurant generally tastes good, and the Thursday special with a 20% discount on food initially sounds particularly attractive. However, the fish platter we ordered was a huge disappointment: The portion was very small for the high price, so the three of us paid a lot despite the special offer and ended up leaving hungry. It's a shame, because everything tasted great – but the value for money, especially for the fish platter, is unfortunately not at all good.

Schnitzel (cold) with chanterelle mushrooms (cold and firm to the bite (almost raw)) and fried potatoes (lukewarm). Almost €25 for that is pretty outrageous. Unfortunately, my wife chose the same portion.

It's said to be the oldest restaurant in Bansin. The ambiance lives up to its name. Pleasant. The staff is friendly, the menu is manageable, and the food is delicious. Breakfast starts at 8:00 a.m. and is well received. Reservations are recommended after 5:00 p.m.

The food was truly not good. The vegetables and fried potatoes weren't fresh, and they were also very tasteless. The food was presented in a disgraceful manner. The service seemed utterly annoyed. Unfortunately, we can't recommend it.

Unfortunately, we were fooled by the beautiful outdoor area and the large number of guests. We had the fish platter with fried potatoes. My wife's fish (I think it was cod, redfish, and pike-perch) tasted like it had been reheated. Mine was okay, but nothing special. The fried potatoes should have been called "fat-slick potatoes." There wasn't much to fried. They were also, in my opinion, similar to pre-cut potato slices like you'd find in a packet. The salad dressing tasted like a ready-made dressing to me. Bottom line: it wasn't to our taste.

Nice café and restaurant. A wide selection of cakes. The food is good. The weapons and ice cream sundaes are top-notch. We enjoy coming back every year.

The food was great. From ordering to serving the food took about 10 minutes, even though the place was packed. What I really liked was the friendliness. All the servers were very friendly and always had a smile on their faces. The price was also reasonable. I visited there on August 24, 2025, at 6:00 PM.

Unfortunately, there are hardly any vegetarian options. Of the 100 dishes on the menu, maybe 3 are suitable for people with a meat aversion. The prices are also steep. I don't understand how it can still be so difficult to simply leave out the meat in some dishes and just throw in a few potatoes and whatever. Here, the WILL is simply lacking, but nobody cares, because, of course, the sensible people are the crazy ones, not the "normal" egomaniacs.

The style is deliberately transported far back to the last century. The outdoor area is beautifully designed and pleasant. The food is excellent. The staff seems a bit too serious, but they can be "softened" by others. An institution worth a visit.

The schnitzel was okay, but the fried potatoes and accompanying vegetables were a disgrace (neither fresh). And the chef seems to have forgotten how to season. Besides, the Coke was stale, and the glass could have been cleaner. Once, never again.

We had a good schnitzel and the atmosphere was great. We had to wait about 5-10 minutes for a table, but it was totally fine.

The restaurant was busy, and we decided to try to get a table for two without a reservation. We were lucky and were seated inside. However, it was so dark inside that you could barely read the menu. Although all the waiters were very friendly, except for two, they seemed very disorganized. A few things went wrong that evening. One couple waited 1.5 hours for their food, another received their appetizer but their main course was forgotten. A family waited almost an hour to place their order, and things were no better for us. It took half an hour to order, we got our drinks 20 minutes later, and at least another half hour for the food to arrive. When we wanted to pay, we asked four times if someone would come to the cashier. Guests repeatedly asked for their orders or went straight to the staff to pay because they weren't served despite asking. The food, however, was delicious!

Extremely stressed and unfriendly staff. We waited over an hour and a half for our food. They only started moving after we asked, claiming they were too busy. Then they forgot half of our order, and even then, no apology or anything like that. Our conclusion: Never again!!!

The place is great...but the coffee, the people—and the cake—could be better! What a shame.

Monday and Wednesday are schnitzel days, so you can save money and still eat delicious schnitzel with fried eggs and fried potatoes. The fish soup is also very good with plenty of vegetables and pieces of fish. Despite the downpour, we sat under the umbrella to keep dry and the service was very friendly. We'd be happy to come back.

Schnitzel was expensive and not good

Where the actor Heinz Rühmann liked and enjoyed in the past, I continue to go there year after year. There is a relaxing atmosphere, the food tastes very good and the service is great👍

Reviews are always tricky and based on personal experience. The Asgard is a house steeped in history. Heinz Rühmann, Werner von Braun, and Hans Albers have all dined here. The ambiance is appropriately romantic, true to the times. The food is recommended. The cappuccino is okay, the hazelnut coffee is delicious (if you like it sweet). The Alsatian-style tarte flambée is delicious (lots of cheese and a bit too salty). The strawberry cake is fluffy and light, the strawberries very aromatic. The waffle was also adequate. Everything was homemade. The prices, of course, include a Baltic Sea surcharge. But what can you expect, right on the promenade? We paid €49 plus orange juice, apple spritzer, and Fanta. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We were asked several times if everything was okay and if there was anything missing. The service was quick. Hot dishes, of course, take a little longer. There may be one minor drawback. The sanitary facilities are clean, as far as I can tell, but a bit dated.

I wouldn't exactly recommend this place. The wait for drinks is endless, the service is poor, and we waited an hour for the food. The deep-fried schnitzel gave us heartburn all night. Probably because the frying oil was very old. Tasty is something else entirely. We won't be back. Others might be satisfied, but unfortunately, we weren't. It's a shame.

I thought I'd entered a restaurant from the 1920s, but apparently, I'd landed in a time-travel experiment gone wrong. The staff was so unfriendly that I wondered if I'd accidentally wandered into a parallel universe where hospitality is a foreign concept. The drinks we ordered didn't arrive until the food was already on the table – the explanation we were rudely informed was that there were four people working in the kitchen and only one behind the counter. But hey, I'm patient! The creamed mushroom schnitzel was another chapter in this culinary comedy. The schnitzel was okay, but the sauce? Well, that was sadly inedible. And the fries? They were hidden under the schnitzel as if they had a secret to hide. The mayonnaise I ordered turned out to be ketchup – surprise! When I politely pointed this out, I received an unfriendly response that made me feel like I'd offended the holy grail of service. On the third attempt, they finally brought me the mayonnaise I ordered. But as soon as I had it in my hand, another waitress came by with another bowl of mayonnaise. "I just got some!" I said. Her response? "Oh, then just leave it." Thank you for your warm hospitality! The next table witnessed the same spectacle – I can only assume it was some kind of performance art of a special kind. While I was enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere with the beautiful view of the Baltic Sea, I realized that perhaps they should invest in new chairs or at least clean the tables. Something must have happened, because three years ago, during our last visit, we were very satisfied and received exceptionally friendly and courteous service. But now? Only unfriendly looks and very harsh comments about bad food. We won't be coming back like this again. I wish other customers the best of luck in dealing with the unfriendly attitude.

The coffee machine was broken, and unfortunately, we couldn't order coffee. We enjoyed the cakes. The waitress was friendly and served us in Polish.

There's only one thing to say about the service: be careful when choosing a career. Even a beautiful beer garden in a prime location won't save you if the waiter grumbles rudely when they make a mistake and it's pointed out to them. The ideal place for anyone with a thick skin and a penchant for unfriendly people. I'd like to write something about the food, but I can't because it wasn't served.

We've eaten here several times because we enjoyed the food and loved it. The service is excellent, calm and organized, even when the place is full. The atmosphere is simply very welcoming. Children can pass the time on the playground across the street.

Food is good, definitely bring time, the service is very slow

Everything looked very promising, but it was very disappointing. The schnitzel was almost cold, the liver was really disgusting, and the mashed potatoes weren't homemade. Sorry, it tastes better at home. Not recommended.

I'd like to review the food, but after about 35 minutes, they managed to refuse to serve a simple tarte flambée. When I asked them about it, they brazenly claimed it was in the oven. Sure, you can do it; tarte flambée takes a maximum of five minutes. I'd prefer honesty, like, "Sorry, we forgot, we'll take care of it right away." Instead, they grumbled, "We're not a fast food place," etc. We paid for our drinks to the exact cent and left.

We wanted to go out to eat spontaneously and got a table but when I went to the toilet and it was dirty and disgusting we lost our temper. Outside we saw a guest being treated rudely who had wanted to book a table, so we left without ordering food because if the toilet is disgusting the kitchen will be no different.

We went on a Friday specifically because I wanted the liver with mashed potatoes. On Fridays, there was a 20% discount on everything from the pot and pan. I thought it was delicious, although it wasn't quite hot anymore, but it still tasted great. The manager was very nice and attentive, and the rest of the staff were very nice too. I couldn't complain. I can't say anything about the ambiance inside; we sat outside. It was comfortable, with the promenade right in front of you and the Baltic Sea in the background.

We were there on July 24th and were very disappointed with the service. First, we waited forever for our order to be taken, then after the meal, no one came to clear our plates, and the drinks were already empty by the time the food arrived, and no one even noticed. We were looking forward to a special coffee break. We've known the café for many years, but this was our last time there. The lady, as I'll call her, radiates an aura that simply says, "I'm annoyed and I'm not in the mood." You're not even looked at, and no courtesy is shown, as guests should be. She ensures that you won't come back, at least if you pay any attention! My daughter ordered spaghetti ice cream without cream, for €9.90, but it was just pressed vanilla ice cream with a hint of strawberry sauce and chocolate topping! When I realized what it was, I received a very unfriendly reaction. Of course, we were given more sauce. Regardless, please don't eat that ice cream there. The cakes weren't what you'd expect from the past either. I have no idea if the baker has changed, but this cake wasn't exclusive, considering it's a special café!!! Better not order the divine drink either, it wasn't tasty. And the toilets, yes, something needs to be done about that. The handle falls off and disgusting brown glasses are shining at me. They look like they've come from a bad rest stop. That shouldn't be happening when you're in a top-notch café!

We ate fish here. I can't recommend it; it was very dry. The menu advertises the café as the first non-smoking café. Unfortunately, we were bombarded with smoke from two sides. There were also ashtrays everywhere. We were disappointed 😞

We were at this restaurant today. It was disastrous right from the start; half the menu was no longer available. The kitchen forgot to order two spiced meats. As compensation, they offered us two apple spritzers, but they weren't included in the bill. I can only speak for myself; I'll never go back to this place. Absolutely not recommended.

The food wasn't good, the coffee wasn't real coffee, more like coffee and water, and we had to wait 10 minutes for a couple of drinks. The service was very rude. We were greeted, but no one wished us a nice day or told us where we were leaving. I would NOT recommend eating there.

We had a lovely time sitting outside on the terrace. The waffles with ice cream and strawberry sauce were also delicious. The service was also perfectly fine. We did receive the wrong receipt when paying, but I attribute that to the fact that we moved out into the sun a bit more after ordering. This was rectified without any problems. The terrace has a lovely, cozy atmosphere with a view of the promenade and the Baltic Sea.

We had the waffles with strawberries...unfortunately, the strawberries tasted completely of onions. Instead of a concession to the already high price, we were rudely informed that the strawberries weren't worth it anyway, as they were just sitting in the fridge. No apology, nothing. Very annoying. €53 for 5 drinks and 2 waffles that now tasted only of onions. We definitely won't be coming back!

Unfortunately, Café Asgard is no longer recommended. You now have to add more seasoning to the food, which wasn't necessary before. Visited again in July 2025. Unfortunately, the impression from two years ago was confirmed. We ordered the fish platter, and the fish died a second time. What a shame about the product.

We went there for the first time today. We had a table outside. It was all good. The server was friendly. Now I come to the food...it wasn't so good. The schnitzel didn't look freshly cooked. The crust was so crispy and dark that it was inedible. The fries weren't seasoned. The Kaiser vegetables were very bland. We won't be coming here again.

Recommended as a highlight, it turned out to be a disappointment! It's a shame the restaurant has lost a lot of its quality. It took almost a quarter of an hour for the ordered drinks (beer) to be served. The meal of "pike-perch with potatoes and salad" and "redfish with Kaiser vegetables and boiled potatoes" took an hour and a half - at the next table, there were four adults and a child - and not even the frozen nuggets were there after an hour and a half. The kitchen and service are lacking here - everyone needs retraining. Furthermore, there's a fraudulent service - the Benedictine wheat beer was served in Maisel Weizen Glads! That's unacceptable - if I, as a hotel manager, had planned for that, it would have been a cheap evening! The meal took a matter of 10 minutes: boiled potatoes were ready and kept warm in a water bath - Kaiser vegetables. A disgrace: everything was frozen and overcooked (almost identical to the original). If the owners don't change something, some of the reviews will be different!

For dinner, we had breaded redfish with boiled potatoes and vegetables in a dill sauce. The vegetables were clearly frozen and very salty, and the potatoes were also from a convenience store. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. Even though the 20 percent discount was tempting, it wasn't a good choice.

The food (the liver was very tender) was very good and plentiful, just as we liked it. The three women who served us were very friendly and competent. We can highly recommend Café Asgard. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to read the café's extensive and interesting history, as the waitresses collected the menus after we ordered. Sure, we could have asked if we could finish reading. But perhaps the woman could have also asked if we wanted to keep the menus for a while...

The service was rude and loud. According to the menu, a waffle with cherries, ice cream, and whipped cream cost €6.60. However, the bill showed €9.60. When I complained about the price, I was rudely reprimanded for having changed the price. I pointed out to the waitress that I had ordered from the menu in front of me. The tone became even louder, but that the changed menu meant the price was higher and that I had ordered from the old menu. After I pointed out that this was not my problem but the staff's negligence, I was yelled at, saying that they had told me three times now that I had an old menu. We actually liked the place and had planned to have dinner there, but after this extraordinary treatment, we paid and left. It's actually a nice restaurant, but the service was abysmal. We can't recommend it.

Just visited Café Asgard. Sat inside due to bad weather. There was no ambiance. Worn and dirty furnishings. Several spray bottles of cleaning product were placed right next to the table, ready to quickly wipe down the glass tabletops. This was presumably to protect the ugly tablecloths underneath. The food, three small pork medallions, were cooked through and tough, accompanied by mushy frozen Kaiser vegetables with mashed potatoes (so-so) and a sticky mustard sauce. Definitely not going back. No wait, as the table was reserved. Staff were unpretentious and friendly.

We've been coming here for several years whenever we're on Usedom. A few years ago, we were guests at a wedding here and have been impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the staff ever since. The food is delicious. The ambiance and feel of this cafe is absolutely wonderful and unique. I always enjoy coming back!
