Good cuisine and good cake. Staff varied in terms of friendlyness, but mostly good. If the weather is good, you can also sit outside, in front of the castle or behind the castle wall. If you've just been there at the castle or in one of the nearby museums, it's definitely worth the detour.

Just a very cozy place. Breakfast, lunch and cakes were very tasty.

Pleasant cafe with a great terrace and a good view of Saarbrücken Castle. Especially when the weather is right, it's wonderful to sit outside under the trees. Or even inside. And I can recommend the homemade cake. But also the other food and drinks. And also the delicious and extensive breakfast. And at moderate prices. And with friendly staff. Why not try the breakfast buffet? :-)

Surrounded by Saarbrücken Castle and other historic buildings, it's really nice to sit outside in the summer. Plus the babbling fountain, simply wonderful. The prices are correspondingly high, although it always tastes good. If you want to sit comfortably and eat well away from the often overcrowded St.Johanner market, the Café am Schloss is the perfect address!

Still a nice place to sit outside when I'm out and about in Saarbrücken and meet up with friends. The prices have also risen considerably here. The quality of the breakfast no longer convinced us. In the future we will have breakfast somewhere else, with less flair but tastier food.

Located under the trees, the terrace is a place where you can relax, especially on hot days.

The breakfast is delicious and it is one of the few cafes where you can get good coffee. Nowadays it usually comes from fully automatic machines. Here from a portafilter and some of the staff can even operate the thing. If, at a breakfast buffet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., both croissants and pancakes are already out by 11 a.m., then the price quoted is clearly excessive.

We have felt very comfortable here. It's a great place to take a break with coffee and cake in the afternoon while visiting the castle.

A nice visit to the castle cafe in the best weather. The service was great, very relaxed when it was busy. The drinks were great, the operator brought ice cubes without being asked. Since we wanted to go out to eat with our friends later, we just looked at the other guests' plates in admiration. Such great and generous portions. Class! Always happy!

There aren't many cafés anymore... everything is combined here. You sit comfortably under the trees and have a beautiful view of the castle and the castle square. The selection of food is very nice. We were there for coffee and the cake was delicious. The service was great - charming and attentive. Great address and highly recommended.

Unfortunately the quiche was a bit too dry and the cheese was very dark.

A nice café right by the castle. It's nice and quiet there, not as hectic as in the city. It's always worth a visit, whether indoors or outdoors.

Very nice ambience in the sunset, chairs a bit uncomfortable, service very friendly and uncomplicated, small portions were also possible to share. The selection of wines was remarkably good. Gladly again!

We went there for the buffet breakfast which is offered on Sunday mornings. For the buffet, it is well stocked with a varied choice, both sweet and savory. The products are good and of good quality. We paid 18€ per adult and 10€ per child. You should know that fruit juice is included in the formula, but not hot drinks.

So far I've only ever been there in summer and the ambience outside is definitely 5/5 stars. This time we were there in February and sat inside. I didn't like the atmosphere inside. Everything is a bit worn and it's incredibly loud in there. The food and service was good. Can't fault anything. All dishes were warm and tasty. The service asked several times about our well-being. Apart from the ambience, I have nothing to complain about.

My favorite café in Saarbrücken. I like coming here in the evenings, even in the cold seasons when you can't sit outside. The atmosphere is pleasant, cozy, relaxed. The service staff are always friendly and are happy to look after the well-being of the guests. The food is good and relatively cheap (even if prices have increased noticeably in 2024). I would just like to see a little more variety on the menu, especially with the vegetarian dishes - I now know enough of pumpkin quiche, cheese spaetzle and penne...

We went to the cafe for Saturday brunch with a small group. Despite numerous reservations, we still managed to get a table. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. As far as the selection is concerned, you can look at the pictures. There are certainly buffets with a larger selection, but I think it's more important that the quality of the individual products is right - that's the case here! When it comes to sausage and cheese, it doesn't look like mass-produced goods but rather market quality. The large loaf of liver pâté was particularly fondly remembered. In addition, the homemade components such as meatballs or stuffed peppers were very tasty and seasoned properly (just right). The obligatory salt and pepper shakers were not used at all. The “desserts” such as chocolate croissants, pancakes and fruit salad were also excellent. The fruit salad in particular was impressive thanks to its fresh and crunchy fruits. When it came to drinks, the cappuccino was particularly praised in our group. We didn't use the bar that day but the selection is more than just good. The ambience isn't actually 5 stars, but I think it's unfair to deduct it just because it's not as fine as the rest... in the end it all comes down to the food and the service and there's very little room for improvement here. We will definitely come back next time we are in Saarbrücken!

A good place for a quick lunch. The food is always perfect, and the cake is also great. The service always seems overwhelmed, even when there are hardly any guests there. The furnishings are visibly worn, but you can still sit comfortably and have peace and quiet in the middle of the city. Well suited for families with small children, there is enough space, especially outside.

Genialer Ort zum Abschalten am Schloss gestern bei Sommerflair im Oktober und einer sehr netten Kellnerin mit einem tollen und leckeren Essen :-))) und einem wunderbaren Abend

Haben draußen gesessen. Schönes Ambiente am Schloss. Bedienung war freundlich (deutsch sprechend) und hat nachgefragt, ob alles in Ordnung sei. Unser Frühstück war gut und ausreichend.. Preisleistung für uns gut. Würden es weiter empfehlen.

Bedienungen sind total überfordert. Falsch abgerechnet. Falscher Wein und falscher Nachtisch. Sprechen kaum Deutsch. Im Lokal eine unerträgliche Lautstärke. Essen war ok. Allerdings kleine Portion.

Wonderful restaurant at the Saarbrücken castle. You can sit here very nicely on the outdoor terrace. On hot days the trees provide shade. For me, highlights of the menu are the Schnitzel with mushrooms cream and the spaetzle. Somewhat weak are sometimes pasta dishes, the low seasoning of the dishes. Very weak is the iced coffee. Prices are OK. Price-performance ratio is very good. The service is good. It is pleasant that there are some waiters who have been working there for years. You can park in the vicinity. It is also easy to get to the Café am Schloss by bike.

Bien en retrait de la ville, au calme et à l’ombre. Super café pour se poser et simplement prendre du bon temps mais aussi pour pouvoir travailler avec une bonne boisson froide, chaud avec ou sans alcool et des plats ou des pâtisseries délicieux

La cadre est très agréable, la nourriture est délicieuse et le service est au top. La plus belle terrasse de Saarbrücken.

Heute zum ersten mal hier zu Mittag gegessen. Die Servicedame war zwar aufmerksam, jedoch hatte man das Gefühl, nicht erwünscht zu sein. Sie war geradezu genervt und konnte sich leider nicht einmal ein Lächeln abringen. Der Kaffee war sehr gut sowie die auf den Tisch geknallte Speisen. Leider war ich aufgrund dieser Erfahrung heute zum letzten mal im Café am Schloss in Saarbrücken.

War sehr gemütlich und ansprechend, der Service gut, freundlich und war auch bei langer Verweildauer nicht aufdringlich.

Nur ein kurzer Zwischenstopp für eine Kleinigkeit. Aber das war richtig gut! Hat mir sehr gut gefallen, schneller und freundlicher Service. War einfach gut!

Im warmen Sommer gibt es nichts besseres als eine Kalte Limonade.

Schade, nach den minderwertigen Oliven (aus dem Glas; 6 Euro) als Amuse-Gueule sind wir anschließend dann doch lieber woanders essen gegangen. Service gut, Location top.

Offenbar gab es einen Betreiberwechsel, ich kenne das Lokal seit Jahrzehnten und kann nur sagen: schade! Der Ton, Mimik, Gestik den Gästen gegenüber (insbesondere einer Dame, die sich unsäglich aufführt) wiederholt inakzeptabel. Für mich war es das dann jetzt auch. Qualität des Frühstücks maximal unterer Durchschnitt.

Wir wurden in unserem ganzen Leben noch nie so unfreundlich behandelt. Ich möchte hier ganz bewußt nicht auf details eingehen, da dies mein Zeitrahmen nicht erlaubt. Ich möchte diese Erniedrigung einfach nur vergessen.

... schön, wenn man unter den Platanen sitzen kann. Innen ist das Café nicht so einladend. Heute war die Bedienung grade noch so korrekt, unfreundlich trifft es eher. Tisch mal abwischen? Anscheinend eine unbekannte Aktion. Essen war ok, aber nicht berauschend. Trotzdem:wenn man draußen sitzen kann, ein schöner Platz!

Die Bedienung war sichtlich gestresst und sehr unfreundlich .kein Danke kein bitte ...genervt wenn man fragen gestellt hat einfach schlecht .. Salat war außer etwas Gurke Oliven ...nur grünzeug...Brot ganz schlechte Qualität und Geschmack... Für soetwas Geld zu bezahlen geht garnicht !

Service très sympa, une carte assez petite mais alléchante, nous avons passé un déjeuner en famille très réussi. L'ambiance sur cette terrasse, avec la vue magnifique sur le château et le bruit de la fontaine en fond sonore, est très agréable. Pour ce qui est des plats, je les ai trouvés assez réussis, avec encore un peu de marge de progression.

Riesenstücke, Riesengeschmack. Dazu ein sehr guter Kaffee und ein freundlicher Service. Wer Kuchen mag sollte dort hin gehen. Gemütliches Ambiente modern präsentiert. Gerne wieder.

Schon seit mehreren Jahren kommen wir gerne ins Café am Schloss und das hat viele Gründe, auf die ich kurz eingehen möchte: Die Lage: Sehr zentral und trotzdem nicht mitten im Treiben liegt das Café/Restaurant. Man kann unterhalb an der Schlossmauer parken und ist innerhalb weniger Fußminuten (ca 3-5 Minuten) direkt vor den kleinen aber feinen Café. Im Winter findet man seinen Platz in dem gemütlich eingerichteten Restaurant mit großer Glasfront (vorher unbedingt reservieren!). Sobald sich die ersten Sonnenstrahlen blicken lassen, kann man es sich auf der Terrasse gemütlich machen. Von dort aus hat man einen tollen Blick auf das Saarbrücker Schloss (auch für Familien mit Kindern gut geeignet). Unser Highlight ist der Biergarten, der während der Sommermonate geöffnet hat und sich auf der hinteren Seite des Cafés befindet. Hier werden Fußballspiele bei WM/EM übertragen und man kann das Feierabendbier bei einem tollen Ausblick über ganz Saarbrücken genießen. Das Essen: Auch wenn Essen Geschmacksache ist, bin ich der Meinung, dass auf der Karte für jeden was dabei ist. Wir haben uns einmal durch getestet und sind begeistert (großes Lob an den Koch/ die Köchin). Unser Tipp: Spaghetti „Chef“ und der Salatteller mit Hänchenbrustfilet und Bratkartoffeln. Die Bedienung: Wir haben mit den Servicekräften nur gute Erfahrungen gemacht. Sie sind freundlich, witzig und immer zur Stelle ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Besonderes Lob geht dabei an die Bedienung im Biergarten. Er ist gut gelaunt, hat immer einen lockeren Spruch auf Lager und wenn man Glück hat, spielt er ein Lied auf seiner Ukulele und singt dazu. Alles in allem ein tolles Café/Restaurant, dass für alle Altersgruppen geeignet ist.

Traumhafte Lage des Cafés, vor allem im Sommer ist es dort richtig gemütlich, weil riesige Bäume Schatten spenden. Der Service ist freundlich und gut, die Auswahl an Essen ist nicht riesig, aber ebenfalls gut. Es gibt auch eine saisonale Karte, was super ist. Insgesamt hatten wir einen tollen Abend dort. Gern wieder.

Man muss möglichst um 10 Uhr da sein, um bei gutem Wetter ein Platz zu bekommen. Telefonisch konnte nicht reserviert werden ( so sagte man uns ), als wir kamen waren Tische reserviert. Wie dies möglich war, konnte der Kellner nicht erklären. Frühstück, Service und auch die Atmosphäre waren wie immer toll; vor allem wenn dann um 11 Uhr die Musik beginnt. Ist einfach immer wieder ein großer Genuss.
