Café am Schloss in Saarbrücken

I'll start with the ambiance. We sat inside, which was very nice, but the chairs were so worn and uncomfortable that you couldn't even sit comfortably on them. Otherwise, the decor was quite nice. The service was rather slow; the waitresses seemed a bit annoyed at times and weren't very attentive (it took a long time before they noticed you and asked for a second order). The food was rather mediocre. Not bad, but the value for money wasn't right. I had the cannelloni, which was very tough (reheated?). The sauce that came with it was good.

The ambiance is absolutely inviting and beautiful, especially outside. If you're looking for a relaxed drink, this is definitely the place. Unfortunately, the prices are generally excessive, and the food is rather disappointing; the salad, for example, only contains green salad and corn. The service is very unpleasant, stressed, and inattentive.

Self-service. Perfect at sunset. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious.

The waitresses are super friendly and often ask for your order. The outdoor seating is lovely under the large trees. The fish and chanterelle mushroom salads and the mirabelle plum tiramisu were delicious.

In addition to the good food and very friendly service, we were able to spend a pleasant evening together despite the rain. The slightly higher prices guarantee a corresponding clientele.

We were in the beer garden by the stairs. It was really nice there, especially at sunset. The staff was friendly. Self-service. Various seating options, including benches, chairs, and lounges. Highly recommended.

The café is located in one of Saarbrücken's most beautiful squares. Especially in summer, you can sit under old trees and watch the hustle and bustle of the Schlossplatz square. Many bridal couples have their photos taken against the beautiful backdrop, and several concerts take place there.

A nice place for Brunch on a sunday morning. When I was there I have to eat a provencal bouillabaisse. In summer times it could be a bit crowed.

Very good food, fresh, crisp salad – unfortunately, the service was grumpy – only the female one! The professional with the hat was very accommodating. 😁

We always enjoy going there. The kitchen is open all day. The food is very good. Perhaps the menu could change from time to time, but my children rely on their favorite dishes. In summer, you can sit in the shade under the plane trees with a view of the castle.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy my cake or tea at all. I had a piece of blueberry cake with mint and ginger tea, both of which were recommended to me by the waitress. About the cake: The slice was quite small for my liking. The pastry was much too thick, dry, and really bland. The filling, in my opinion, was mushy, unappealing, and also bland. And, unfortunately, I didn't find it fruity at all. About the tea: It was mostly lemons. Accordingly, it didn't taste of mint or ginger to me at all, just extremely lemony. It tasted totally sour. About the service: The shop was quite empty, but no waiter came to bring the bill, even though I waved several times. Instead, the waiter went outside to smoke. So, after waiting half an hour for the waiter, I eventually went to the cash register myself. My friends felt the same way; they gradually went to the cash register to pay. Unbelievable to me, especially since there was nothing going on there! The waiter then politely asked me how I liked it. I told him it wasn't good and explained why. Unfortunately, he didn't understand at all. So I explained it to him again. Unfortunately, he didn't react much. He just said "sorry." CONCLUSION: The value for money isn't right here at all!

The food was amazing. I had the pike-perch fillet with almond pesto and bulgur lentil vegetables, plus my sweetheart's side salad 😁 because she doesn't like salad and forgot to let me know 😅. The food was amazing, and my sweetheart thought so too. I highly recommend it.

Belli i tavoli all'aperto sotto alberi secolari, nella piazza dello Schloss. E' molto affollato, non fa caldo, io e mia moglie preferiamo entrare. Siamo soli, purtroppo in balia dell'odore di pesce. Il menù prevede paste improbabili, oltre a zuppa di pesce, wiener, insalate fantasiose. La cena non è memorabile ma neanche male. Torneremo in estate, per stare all'aperto.

I was there for the breakfast buffet on Saturday and would gladly come back. Very good selection of savory and sweet dishes. The cakes and rolls were very good. Fresh fruit. Unfortunately, it was too cold to sit outside. It's a bit gloomy inside. They could do more with it, in my opinion. Overall, we enjoyed it.

The food is always very fine. Consistently very good quality. No matter when you come. The atmosphere is great, the service is friendly and always professional. We have felt very comfortable there for many years. :-)

A restaurant in the most beautiful place in Saarbrücken. Enjoy the sun outdoors under shady trees with friendly service and good food. For our group, Sara is often a sunshine 🤙, always friendly, always helpful, but also the other waitresses - just a good atmosphere. A feel-good atmosphere that we can enjoy once a week.

The ambience was inviting, the drinks were good - unfortunately we guests were a burden or a disruptive factor to the service. Too bad. We would like to come back.

I really liked the Cafe am Schloss, next to Saarbrücken Castle in Saarbrücken. I have been a guest there many times, in all seasons. If the weather is right, of course, you can do it outside on the large terrace, if the weather is not so nice, or in winter, or yesterday, for example, you can do it indoors. The stay is always pleasant and cozy. Whether you just want a quick or warming drink, or have lunch or dinner alone or in a group, a visit to the Cafe am Schloss in Saarbrücken is always worth it!

An idyllic spot, out there, under the plantation tree and the whole place is covered in gravel. For Sbr, especially in places like this: no noise from the highway can be heard, but the fountain splashes too loudly but well. I remember the friendly and courteous service well

The breakfast is delicious and it is one of the few cafes where you can get good coffee. Nowadays it usually comes from fully automatic machines. Here from a portafilter and some of the staff can even operate the thing. If, at a breakfast buffet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., both croissants and pancakes are already out by 11 a.m., then the price quoted is clearly excessive.

The Sunday café had the best vegan lemon cake. 🍰 The carrot cake is also recommended. Beforehand there was a piece of pumpkin quiche 🥧🥧🥧. Simply delicious. That was a culinary delight 👍

Wir wollten frühstücken und waren 5 Minuten VOR der Öffnungszeit dort. Ich bin auf eine Gehhilfe angewiesen. Trotzdem wurden wir recht unfreundlich vor die Tür gesetzt ( wörtlich gemeint). Es war die 3. negative Erfahrung innerhalb 5 Wochen. Die ersten beiden waren mangelhafte Qualität. Ich werde nie wieder dieses Lokal trotz seiner tollen Lage betreten.

Good cuisine and good cake. Staff varied in terms of friendlyness, but mostly good. If the weather is good, you can also sit outside, in front of the castle or behind the castle wall. If you've just been there at the castle or in one of the nearby museums, it's definitely worth the detour.

Surrounded by Saarbrücken Castle and other historic buildings, it's really nice to sit outside in the summer. Plus the babbling fountain, simply wonderful. The prices are correspondingly high, although it always tastes good. If you want to sit comfortably and eat well away from the often overcrowded St.Johanner market, the Café am Schloss is the perfect address!

Wir mussten sehr lange auf das Essen warten, da unsere Bestellung zunächst vergessen wurde. Das kann passieren! Das Restaurant war sehr kulant und wir durften uns dann zwei Getränke aufs Haus aussuchen. Das Essen an sich ist sehr lecker und die Aussicht auf das Schloss wirklich schön!

Still a nice place to sit outside when I'm out and about in Saarbrücken and meet up with friends. The prices have also risen considerably here. The quality of the breakfast no longer convinced us. In the future we will have breakfast somewhere else, with less flair but tastier food.

We have felt very comfortable here. It's a great place to take a break with coffee and cake in the afternoon while visiting the castle.

A nice visit to the castle cafe in the best weather. The service was great, very relaxed when it was busy. The drinks were great, the operator brought ice cubes without being asked. Since we wanted to go out to eat with our friends later, we just looked at the other guests' plates in admiration. Such great and generous portions. Class! Always happy!

There aren't many cafés anymore... everything is combined here. You sit comfortably under the trees and have a beautiful view of the castle and the castle square. The selection of food is very nice. We were there for coffee and the cake was delicious. The service was great - charming and attentive. Great address and highly recommended.

We went there for the buffet breakfast which is offered on Sunday mornings. For the buffet, it is well stocked with a varied choice, both sweet and savory. The products are good and of good quality. We paid 18€ per adult and 10€ per child. You should know that fruit juice is included in the formula, but not hot drinks.

So far I've only ever been there in summer and the ambience outside is definitely 5/5 stars. This time we were there in February and sat inside. I didn't like the atmosphere inside. Everything is a bit worn and it's incredibly loud in there. The food and service was good. Can't fault anything. All dishes were warm and tasty. The service asked several times about our well-being. Apart from the ambience, I have nothing to complain about.

We have enjoyed coming here for years. When the sun is shining, it's great to sit outside and have a pleasant view. The food is very tasty and there is always a special menu with changing dishes. My favorite café in Saarbrücken. I like coming here in the evenings, even in the cold seasons when you can't sit outside. The atmosphere is pleasant, cozy, relaxed. The service staff are always friendly and are happy to look after the well-being of the guests. The food is good and relatively cheap (even if prices have increased noticeably in 2024). I would just like to see a little more variety on the menu, especially with the vegetarian dishes - I now know enough of pumpkin quiche, cheese spaetzle and penne...

We went to the cafe for Saturday brunch with a small group. Despite numerous reservations, we still managed to get a table. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. As far as the selection is concerned, you can look at the pictures. There are certainly buffets with a larger selection, but I think it's more important that the quality of the individual products is right - that's the case here! When it comes to sausage and cheese, it doesn't look like mass-produced goods but rather market quality. The large loaf of liver pâté was particularly fondly remembered. In addition, the homemade components such as meatballs or stuffed peppers were very tasty and seasoned properly (just right). The obligatory salt and pepper shakers were not used at all. The “desserts” such as chocolate croissants, pancakes and fruit salad were also excellent. The fruit salad in particular was impressive thanks to its fresh and crunchy fruits. When it came to drinks, the cappuccino was particularly praised in our group. We didn't use the bar that day but the selection is more than just good. The ambience isn't actually 5 stars, but I think it's unfair to deduct it just because it's not as fine as the rest... in the end it all comes down to the food and the service and there's very little room for improvement here. We will definitely come back next time we are in Saarbrücken!

A good place for a quick lunch. The food is always perfect, and the cake is also great. The service always seems overwhelmed, even when there are hardly any guests there. The furnishings are visibly worn, but you can still sit comfortably and have peace and quiet in the middle of the city. Well suited for families with small children, there is enough space, especially outside.

Es war ein gelungenes Mittagessen. Sehr freundliche Bedienung, leckeres Essen, angemessenes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Jeder Zeit wieder!
