Café am Neuen See in Berlin

A delightful spot nestled in Berlin's enormous Tiergarten Park, formerly the King of Prussia's hunting reserve. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, even more so given the cold November weather. When the weather is warm, you can rent boats and take a trip on the lake; it's sure to be beautiful in spring and summer, too.

Great place. In summer one can sit outdoor by the lake and have yammi pizza and other food. I come here regularly. This time it was for the Oktoberfest which was really cool. I recommend that place.

There seems to be a lack of competition. They're charging so much for a very limited breakfast selection that I declined, and when the plates for my colleagues arrived, I was glad I had. The food didn't arrive for everyone at the same time. A great tit, trying to escape through the skylight above our long table for 20, knocked dead wasps onto the table. When I asked them to move the bird, they replied that it wasn't possible due to fire safety regulations. They didn't offer to move us to a different table, but only reluctantly after we asked, with the explanation that the birds were normal because they always fly through the door and windows. The two managers at the counter, busy with their laptops, didn't seem to care at all. In my opinion, the customer isn't king here, and I don't want to be addressed informally by strangers. If I hadn't been there with a group, I would have left immediately after the lack of response to the tit. The curling was fun, though. Even the warm apple juice is overpriced at €6 for 0.3l. Never again.

Unfortunately, bad reviews are deleted here... always a bad sign. We weren't satisfied with the service. Separate payment for groups is possible, but that's a real shame.

I had a very bad experience at this cafe. I went in, and a woman greeted me. When she learned that I was "just one person" and "just wanted a coffee," her behavior changed drastically. I wasn't allowed to sit at a table, but could only order at the bar, sit down there, or, even better, take my coffee "to go." I went to the bar to order the coffee "to go." There were two young men standing there who didn't even look at me for five (!!!) minutes, let alone serve me. I simply had to leave. This all happened on a Sunday at 9:30 a.m., when there was absolutely no one else in the cafe and all the tables were empty. Treating a woman like that is completely unacceptable. You might as well just say: Singles not welcome!

I was visiting my daughter in Berlin. We both are nature lovers and despite the cold, damp and misty morning, we braved to spend the day in Tier garden. God smiled and rewarded us with 2 hours of sunshine. Autumn colours were magical and flame buoyant. Lunch at Café am Neuen See just made the day perfect. It has a most scenic view of lake. Fairy lights were the perfect adornment. We ordered Beers and Pizza to save space for deserts. And that turned out to be a very wise decision as pizza size was generous. Apple Strudel with vanilla sauce and icecream left us in bliss. Plenty full candles added so much warmth to the day. I will always come back🧡🧡

The scrambled eggs were cold, the latte macchiato too... so into the microwave and that's that...

A special place in a green setting, yet very centrally located east of the zoological garden.

The wait is endless and the staff is really unfriendly. I'm usually quite patient, but it's annoying when you have to ask about everything multiple times. The atmosphere, however, is nice.

It's a beautiful spot on the edge of Tiergarten, a place to soothe your soul. You can go for breakfast and then take a pleasant walk through the grove to complete a wonderful day. It's best to arrive early, as the queues can grow longer the later you go.

Food was delicious and bar personal was super friendly. They have an incredibly cosy outdoor area. Overall great experience.

This is my favorite place in Berlin. Tiergarten is already amazing. This is the jewel in Tiergarten.

This is summer vibe that all berliners are looking for, you can get a ok German food or a very bad pizza, but the beer and the place are extremely great Came with fun stomach and you will love here

A very bad place. The service was incredibly slow, and the waiter was unfriendly. We ordered a hot chocolate for two, but the milk was cold and didn't taste good. One of the cups was dirty. We were brought jars of honey, and one of them was already open and used. A mouse ran under our tables. We wanted to change tables, but the waiter wasn't helpful at all. In short: everything was bad, and absolutely not worth the price.

A warm atmosphere welcomes you, and the open space was also very enjoyable.

Nice location and ambiance but it pretty much ends there. Prices are completely unreasonable, we’re taking €22 euro burgers and €7.50 for a bottle of water (which i stupidly agreed to once the waiter asked, thinking no way it would be more than 4). The hostess was very kind and friendly, though it took us 10 minutes to get the attention of the waiter to ask for the check, and another 10 for him to actually bring it. What was supposed to be a cozy break from a walk turned out to be a frustrating, pricey experience. Cannot recommend.

Food is nice, overpriced, and the service is so slow!!!!! It took them 1h 20 mins to bring us the food. 30 mins to bring deserts.

Shady business practices. We wanted to play curling here for a Christmas party. After making a reservation with our credit card, we received a message stating that we could only book the ice rink if we also booked a goose dinner at the attached restaurant (€75 per person!). This isn't mentioned anywhere on the website. When we didn't immediately accept this "offer," our booking was canceled without explanation.

Never again! Absolutely overrated, lukewarm coffee, the pear tart nothing but sweet, the interior too loud, too unkempt, the ladies' restroom disgusting, the service, while reasonably attentive, was clearly overwhelmed. Even the beautiful lakeside location doesn't help, which is further spoiled by the restaurant's outdoor area.

Tucked right in the middle of Tiergarten, this little café is like a quiet hug in busy Berlin. Smells like pine trees. And coffee. You can hear ducks sliding across the lake. So calm. I stopped by one cold afternoon. One of those days you just want something warm in your hands. I ordered apple strudel. It came out hot, with vanilla sauce melting all over. Nothing fancy. Just right. When the sun goes down, lights twinkle on. The café turns into a beer garden. People show up. They drink cold beer, share thin pizzas, and laugh. You can see the lights dancing on the water. It's peaceful, but you still feel the buzz. Only Berlin does it like this.

Place is stunning but staff is rude and incapable. We ordered several times, but our order didn't arrive or the wrong stuff was brought. We waited endlessly and finally had to eat cake without the coffee, which arrived much later. On the bill were things we didn't even order and when we mentioned it we were treated like beggars. Can't recommend the place although the fireplaces and interior look very inviting.

„New York“ cheesecake, frozen and thawed and literally the driest piece of cheesecake I have ever had for almost 5€ is ridiculous…

Super sweet place in the middle of Tiergarden

It’s a serene place and the cafe ambiance is gorgeous , food is delicious.

Very crowded on a Sunday, we were seated outside without asking, but the noise level was OK and the view was lovely. The food was great. Unfortunately, we had to wait half an hour for the waiter to pay.

A very nice location, great ambiance, and very friendly, attentive service. However, we had to send back drinks and food several times due to dirty glasses and cold food. Even when we got the same pizzas back (not new ones) after about three minutes, they weren't really warm. We also noticed that another table had the same dish (roast with sauerkraut) with more on it than ours. We'll probably have a drink again in the summer, but unfortunately, we can't recommend the food.

Got a cold „cappuccino“ in a mug that looks like sth u would serve in a cheap school dining hall. Charged 3.9€ for this experience. Unfriendly stuff. Lots of stuff standing around like it doesn’t belong there. This place is not what it used to be

A very nice, cozy, and well-frequented spot by the lake. Very friendly and helpful staff. The decor is tasteful, and the fireplace sizzles in the evenings. Very good value for money. Also suitable for larger groups. If possible, it's always best to pre-order. A small point deducted for the empty glasses that had been sitting on the table for a while... Nevertheless, a restaurant that is impressive, and a big compliment to the kitchen. I'd go back anytime *personal recommendation*😎🤟

It took a very long time to order. Then we waited 20 minutes for coffee. Ultimately, we cancelled the order and left. Very disappointing.

The café's location is very nice and quiet. Unfortunately, when we placed our order, we noticed that we didn't receive any coasters or serving napkins, and the spoons remained in the cups. We had asked for extra sugar when ordering, but it didn't arrive either. Otherwise, the café is quite okay.

It's a wonderful hang out place by the lake, amid a green park, in the heart of Berlin city. By the evening its also a cozy family dinner place, serves great Italian cuisines.

We ate here on a Saturday afternoon. You can also choose breakfast on Saturday afternoons, which was very complete and delicious. Various types of freshly baked bread, as much as you like, a variety of cheeses, sausage, and eggs. Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. It's also nice that there are real flowers and plants inside.

Perfect location! The terrace overlooks the lake and is surrounded by greenery — a wonderful experience. The food was very tasty, and the service, while friendly, was a bit slow. I recommend sitting outside, unless it’s bee season — not sure there’s much they can do about it, but the bees can be quite annoying and tend to go for the food. 🐝🌿

You're right in the middle of the city, but it feels like you're in the heart of the forest. It's such a peaceful spot by the lake. There's a variety of food and drink options. You can even take a boat ride on the lake. The restrooms are spotless. Although it was very crowded when we went, it wasn't noisy; on the contrary, it was very peaceful. Highly recommended.

Beautiful location! 😍 Delicious, partly homemade drinks (like orange soda) and equally delicious food. Both the drinks and the food are reasonably priced for a beer garden. You order your own drinks/food at the designated windows. The checkout area is a bit confusing, though; once, you had to pay immediately after ordering, another time there were no cash registers and you didn't even know where to go. It's obviously much busier on weekends than during the week, so keep that in mind when visiting.

The service staff was super friendly, even when it was busy and stressful, and the food and drinks were delicious! What was completely unacceptable, however, was the restaurant manager, who yelled at his employees in front of the guests during normal business hours, creating an unpleasant atmosphere. The service staff took it professionally, but the restaurant manager's professionalism left much to be desired. It's a shame and simply unpleasant!

Beautiful place with a view of the dense forest and the lake in front of the tables, you can also rent a boat to take a walk around and relax. The food was ok, not too good, not too bad. It was just enough to satisfy my empty stomach.

Most beautiful beer garden in the Berlin…but very unfriendly staff. Limited food options, small portions and no flexibility (not even a side change)…quite disappointing for the high prices.

Nice and nice restaurant with tasteful decor. The food was well prepared and tasty. But the service must be given a failing grade. 20 minutes to get the drink despite reminders. Then the same thing happened again on the next round. It is clearly understaffed. A shame for such a nice restaurant.

Super bad service. Waited like 20-30 minutes for a couple of beers. The food we ordered never even arrived. The place wasn’t even full… ended up paying 5e for some sparkling water with a bit of apple juice in it. Wouldn’t recommend.

Best Biergarten in Berlin. The access by public transport is not great, but it's an amazing atmosphere next to a small lake, and inside Tiergarten

Beautiful place in the Berlin Zoo district, definitely worth a visit! Special mention for the chicken to share. Don't hesitate to ask for the cooking sauce to accompany it! A treat!

Despite opening hours until midnight, the "last round" was announced as early as 10 p.m. The service was unfriendly: When we asked for a wine tasting, the waiter replied "reluctantly." We had to get the sugar and blanket ourselves. When paying, he made a derogatory comment because we deliberately didn't want to tip due to the poor service: "Bad choice." Overall, a very disappointing visit.

Six of us arrived in the morning without a reservation and found a table without any problems. The food arrived surprisingly quickly and we enjoyed it immensely. We particularly liked the bread station, where you can help yourself to fresh bread and butter – a lovely addition to breakfast. The only downside was the heavy wasp infestation on the terrace, which somewhat spoiled our comfortable seating. In summary: A beautiful spot by the water, good food, and fast service – with a little patience for the wasps, it's absolutely recommended.

A really nice beer garden and right in the middle of Berlin :)

We were there one evening in July and just had a few drinks and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere – relaxed people, the forest, and of course, the lake. 🤩 Simply a fantastic place to spend a pleasant and sociable time in the countryside! Self-service in the beer garden was very straightforward, also thanks to the well-coordinated and friendly bar staff.

Beware of tip scams!!! This place is great and I highly recommend it. The staff is very friendly and helpful, except for one server who tried to scam us when paying by card. During checkout, he often asks if you want to add a tip of 10, 15, or 20% of the bill, but you can also choose not to tip anything. When paying with this server, he only mentioned the price of the meal. It was when I asked for a receipt that I saw he had added 10%!!! I asked him if the service charge wasn't included in the price displayed, and, taking me for a fool, he said yes, it was, showing me the extra 10% on the bill. After some discussion, he asked me if I wanted him to refund the 10%. I said yes because if I wanted to tip, it's up to me to choose, not for him to automatically add it without saying anything!!! He refunded me in cash and without any apology...so I assume this is a common practice on his part...so be careful!!!

Very nice location. It's a great place to linger in warm weather. The self-service is well organized.

In such a great atmosphere, unfortunately, the service was very poor. It wasn't possible to try the wine. I didn't want a glass, just a small sip. As someone who works in the service department myself, I know how much guests appreciate that. And usually, they're more likely to buy the wine and are more convinced. Instead, I was just told what it tasted like. Unfortunately, as a non-wine connoisseur, that doesn't help me at all. I had also ordered a tablecloth, but it never arrived. So I went and got it myself. The same thing happened with the sugar for the latte. The sweet wine was out. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have more in reserve. The beginning was unfriendly: no menu, no greeting, just a "little beer?" When we paid, we were told that we had made the "worst choice" by not tipping. After the service, I'm honestly not surprised at all. Oh, and then: From 10 p.m. onward, they said there was only one drink available. But at 10:40 PM, there was suddenly another "final round." Quite contradictory.

I come here every now and then. Often with family and friends. We've also celebrated our Christmas party here several times with about 16 colleagues and friends. The ambiance is outstanding and very nice, although it can get a bit hectic and loud. The food ranges between 7 and 9 out of 10. The Christmas goose has always been a 10/10. It's a bit of a crowd-pleaser, which you can sense from the staff.

We went there for breakfast. It was fantastic. The whole place was packed, but we were still taken care of with such attentiveness. No one was stressed; there was a great team spirit among the colleagues. The food was top-quality. We'd love to come back.

We were at the restaurant on August 22nd, 2025 with 15 people and tried our way through the menu - everything was delicious, the service was attentive and friendly, and we would be happy to go back anytime!
