A huge selection, and large, delicious portions for very little money. This is the place to go when you're really hungry 🤭

We usually love eating there. Unfortunately, the portion of pasta was very small. It was more like an appetizer. What a shame!

A lovely restaurant with delicious food. Of course, I can only review the dish I ate myself, a broccoli casserole. It was absolutely delicious. It takes a while for the food to arrive, but that's a sign that it's being prepared individually. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Waiting 1.5 hours for pesto pasta. It didn't even taste good. Don't go there, it's a tourist trap.

Friendly service, but the food was terrible. The tagliatelle with pesto was drowning in oil, the pesto was either not fresh or a cheap, ready-made product, and tasted absolutely disgusting. Even the grated Parmesan and pine nuts couldn't improve it.

A varied menu and friendly service. The spare ribs were good but not outstanding. I would go here again next time.

The food was really good on the bottom, but the top was completely burnt – black, hard, and inedible. As if pasta wasn't expensive enough, and then you have to ruin the meal like that. The chef must have seen it; you can't seriously serve something like that. Honestly, I wonder if the chef conjures up such crap at home. It's a real shame; it could have gone better.

We were there a few days ago, and what can we say? The food, service, and atmosphere were truly fantastic. We were served very quickly by a very friendly server. The food was delicious. (I had the salmon pan – a dream, my husband had the schnitzel pan.) And the price was a real surprise for us! Highly recommended. We'll be back next time we're in Marburg!!! Thank you so much. The food came quickly, tasted good, and was reasonably priced. Strangely, the wait for drinks always seemed to take longer, even though they'd been waiting at the counter for 15 minutes. The waitress was running her legs sore, while the man behind the counter was only visible with his phone in his hand. He did prepare drinks, but apparently he didn't bother to bring them to the table or help his colleague anywhere. Some people left the restaurant because they hadn't even received their menus after sitting for almost half an hour. We just felt sorry for the girl because she was doing everything while her colleague apparently couldn't be bothered to work.

A complete disaster. We waited an hour for our drinks, and then the drinks came after our food. And then the casserole was only half full. Terrible, never again!

I've always enjoyed ordering curry casserole at Restaurant 1900. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed yesterday: the portion was much too small and the preparation was poor. There were hardly any pieces of meat in the dish. That wasn't the case before – a real shame. Therefore, I will unfortunately not be visiting the restaurant again.

I reserved a table for 6:30 p.m. today because of the nice weather, and the waitress confirmed that we could have a table outside at 6:30 p.m. Then we arrived and were told that they couldn't reserve outside and that we should sit inside because there weren't any seats available. I find that incredibly rude!

I ordered a pizza and was unfortunately disappointed. It was significantly too salty, so much so that the actual flavor of the ingredients was barely distinguishable. It was a shame, because it looked good.

I've been to this cafe twice. The first time, everything was delicious; I had a casserole, but the second time, there was a lot of sauce and it was greasy for me. Service was good, the staff very polite, but the quality could be better.

Both casseroles were delicious and extremely filling. With the spinach casserole, I found there was a bit too much spinach in one pile, which caused it to clump together. Therefore, it doesn't get 5/5 stars. Otherwise, I have nothing to complain about. Both casseroles are priced between €10 and €14, which I think is absolutely reasonable for the amount of ingredients. The drinks were an estimated 400ml for around €6.50, so I can't complain about that either. You should know!

I'm absolutely thrilled. I haven't had such great pasta in a long time 😋 The wait was a bit long, but it was worth it.

Delicious food overall, but you may need to be a bit patient while waiting. We ordered a pizza that I’d rate 4 out of 5 — it tasted great, though it was slightly soggy. The chicken pan dishes, however, were bursting with flavor and truly amazing. Plus, the portion sizes are generous, making it great value for money. Definitely worth a visit!

The restaurant thrives on its location, and apparently solely on it. The food is okay, but far from exciting or surprising. Anyone hoping for some variety will be disappointed: the menu has been virtually identical for years; change is as rare as a half-cooked steak. What's particularly striking is that a large portion of the surrounding restaurants are owned by the same operator. So, theoretically, there's competition, but in practice, you always end up with the same concept in a slightly different package. When you control so many restaurants, you apparently don't have to put in much effort; the guests will always find somewhere else anyway. Innovation? Not necessary. Fresh ideas? Why bother? Anyone who manages to maintain a gastronomic monopoly while maintaining a culinary stagnation must be doing something right, at least economically, but in terms of taste, there's still plenty of room for improvement.

Stomach ache and diarrhea - never eat at this restaurant!! We made the huge mistake of eating here. It gave us both a stomach ache and diarrhea. My wife and I were scammed by an offer of schnitzel for 11.90. More on that later. We ordered a pizza for my son. After my wife and I had our food, we waited patiently for 10 minutes for our son to get his pizza too. When it still hadn't arrived, we asked the absent-minded waiter, who had forgotten all about the pizza - even though I could even see that it actually appeared on the order on his computer. He promised that it would come as soon as possible. When we finally got the pizza, we could start eating (we were hungry). After my son (5 years old) had eaten a little of the pizza, I noticed that it was completely soft and wet underneath - and upon closer inspection I could see that it wasn't baked at all. It was simply dough. I therefore approached the waiter, who was neither understanding nor accommodating - he had a clear tunnel focus on making money, money, money. He offered no understanding that it is simply not okay to serve food that is not prepared properly - even for a little boy of 5 years. And my (very hungry) son was of course upset about the situation. A very unpleasant experience. Unfortunately, it was not long before my son got an upset stomach, diarrhea and stomach ache. As previously mentioned; my wife and I ordered schnitzel in the naive belief that we would be served a real schnitzel - so our disappointment was also great when we were served a piece of breaded rubber meat (a poor cut) with a disgusting sauce. My wife also found a black and curly hair in her sauce. Oh my! The fries were good, the rest was downright disgusting - and then we could even see that he had also cheated us out of money. We were left with a big disappointment and a little boy with a stomach ache and diarrhea. Never eat at this restaurant - you will regret it! The service is miserable and greedy for money, the food is downright disgusting and gives you an upset stomach. Add to that the bad news!

A lovely café and restaurant in the heart of Marburg. The menu is varied, the food is delicious and plentiful, and the service is very friendly. Card payments start at €25. Overall, we had a lovely break here!

We were there on the weekend and thought the restaurant was popular because the outside seating was full, but that was probably due to the long waiting times. We waited about 40 minutes for a pizza and a schnitzel with fries, even though it wasn't busy inside. Instead of fries, we were served potatoes (although the fries were quickly refilled, thankfully). While we waited, casseroles were carried to the restaurant across the street and served. The food was tasty, but not outstanding, but fair for the price. The tables were also too wobbly for the surface. Overall: perfectly fine if you have plenty of time. But you can get just as much food elsewhere.

We sat inside and were given a cozy corner by the window. It immediately felt like a cozy living room with new friends. Choosing from the huge menu was quite difficult; all the dishes sounded delicious. We opted for a side dish. It was incredibly delicious and absolutely satisfying, even when we were very hungry. The service was very friendly and brought all our drink requests lightning fast. Excellent value for money in a cozy atmosphere. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend a visit.

The two blond men who serve here are very nice and courteous. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the "boss," who was unfriendly because he was under stress. You could also just be happy that the place is full and running smoothly.

We found this restaurant while strolling through the old town in the heart of Marburg and settled in outside. The veal schnitzel with chanterelle cream sauce, the veal schnitzel with pepper cream sauce, and the fries were absolutely delicious. The service was great, fast, and attentive. They even packed up dessert for us because we couldn't finish it after the first portion. The prices were absolutely reasonable. Highly recommended!

The location is on a small street/alley with good outdoor seating. However, we had to wait about 75 minutes for one pizza and feta cheese. The quality and taste were very good, as were the portion sizes.

Great café in the heart of Marburg! I had a delicious veal schnitzel with crispy fries – perfectly prepared. The Aperol Spritz was wonderfully refreshing 🍹. Cozy atmosphere, very friendly service, and: dogs are welcome 🐶💛! A place where you feel at home – I'll definitely be back!

The food is swapped or you get something different than what you ordered.

I wanted to have a relaxed casserole during my lunch break, but unfortunately, it wasn't exactly relaxing. After waiting about 35 minutes for my casserole in a moderately busy restaurant, I unfortunately received the wrong dish. When I told the waitress, she took it with her and apologized. However, I had to wait another 35 minutes, and my break had already ended 10 minutes ago. Unfortunately, the food also tasted very bland. I had to add salt and pepper myself to make the wait at least worthwhile. In conclusion, I have to say that this was unfortunately my last visit to this restaurant.

Nice place, but in need of some renovation. The benches need to be refinished, and a feather duster for the cobwebs on the lamp wouldn't hurt either. The food was delicious.

Drinks from standard ones such as beer, wine and the like to delicious cocktails. The prices are humane.

We stopped at 1900 today and fortified ourselves. The service was nice and courteous, the food was delicious and something different. In front of the restaurant you can people watch and observe city life. We'd love to come back.

Had a spontaneous meal here, service was super friendly and regularly asked if everything was OK or if we had any further requests. We waited 30 minutes for our food but it was delicious and worth the wait.

We ate there for the first time today. That wasn't a good idea, we had the Marburger style schnitzel pan. It was dripping with fat and the schnitzel was probably warmed up in the microwave. The edge of the schnitzel was extremely bone dry and you couldn't chew it at all. The rest of the meat wasn't very tasty either. And there was also a strange sauce that was not edible. All in all, it tasted terrible and there was nothing fresh about it. The service was great, she took the food straight off the bill. She was generally very nice and did her job very well.

Yesterday we were there spontaneously with nine people and were lucky enough to get three tables next to each other. The staff was very accommodating and friendly without being intrusive. Some of us had eaten something and were very satisfied. Large portions at moderate prices! Conclusion: Gladly again at any time

Ouch. There can be no talk of small portions here. We had two stir-fry dishes that were really tasty and were only topped by the borkoli soup as a starter. All in all, a first-class price/performance ratio. In addition, super friendly staff who keep an overview even in the greatest chaos. Therefore a clear recommendation.

Had a Wiener Schnitzel with fries and a small side salad for a very reasonable 16 euros! However, you shouldn't expect particularly high quality for the price, unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the taste. The service was very good and the beer too.

Da möchte man zum Abendessen ins 1900 und welch ein Glück: sehr wenige Tische sind besetzt, kaum andere Gäste im Raum, also doch kein Problem einen Platz zu finden. Könnte man denken. Kommentarlos bekommt man eine Karte gereicht. Keinerlei allgemein-gesellschaftliche Höflichkeit im Sinne einer erwiderten Begrüßung empfängt den Gast. Und dann? Nichts mehr. Eine halbe Stunde Wartezeit, in der man nach Studium der Karte versucht das Personal auf sich aufmerksam zu machen. Schließlich ignoriert und noch nicht einmal nach einem Getränkewunsch gefragt bin ich dann nach den ca. 30 Minuten gegangen. Wie man das nennt, mag jeder entscheiden. Leider enttäuschend, aber Marburg bietet ja noch andere Lokale.

We were in Marburg for the first time and came across this rustic restaurant. The food was plentiful, fresh and had a great price-performance ratio. Students, parents with small children, grandmas and grandpas, dogs... in short, everyone is welcome there. We were there every day of our stay. Everything tasted excellent. Very nice little restaurant with good cuisine. Our food not only looked great, it also tasted good and the price-performance ratio was totally fine. Unfortunately we sat for quite a long time with empty glasses, so the service staff had better be on their toes! There were 7 of us and we would have happily left 10-12 euros more per person if they had brought us more drinks 🤷 But I can definitely recommend the place 🤗

We have often been satisfied in the past, but after this visit we won't be coming back: an hour wait, wrong food, starter and main course served at the same time, and then spilled drinks on our pants. Unfortunately, the service has deteriorated significantly this time.

I visit Marburg about twice a year and often end up in this restaurant as it offers an all-round alternative in the upper town. The food always tastes excellent. At the beginning the waitress was a man who seemed very unfriendly, aloof and listless. However, there was a shift change at the top of the hour, which gave us an open-minded, polite, courteous and focused young woman. So everything was fine in terms of service. Unfortunately, it was only when we were paying that we were told that card payments were only possible for orders over €25. The information would have been nice as a sign or verbally at the beginning. Last but not least, it should be noted that some furniture was damaged and some were only temporarily repaired with tape or not repaired at all. Nevertheless, the price-performance ratio is really good for me and that's why I'll come back.

Today we had lunch there with the family on a trip to Marburg. Very friendly service and the menu has a lot to offer. The schnitzels (pork & turkey) are super delicious. Dessert is included in the price. One star less because the potatoes were fried a little too much.

We had dinner there yesterday and I have to say I haven't had such a good schnitzel in a long time. The ribbon noodles were also very tasty and the salad was super fresh. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere was cozy, although a bit cramped for the rush but cozy. We'll go there again, it's definitely worth a visit.

Saturday evening - we were out and about in the upper town. Since it was a little later than planned, we wanted to have dinner there. While walking through the upper town we stopped at Cafe 1900. We were lucky because a table for 4 people just became available. Pretty much everything went wrong that evening: a total of 5 wrong orders (3 out of 4 main courses were completely wrong, 1 out of 2 starters were wrong and even 1 drink was brought wrong). We were not shown any goodwill. Rather an unfriendly waiter who once simply took my food away and replaced it. You weren't asked if you wanted something else to drink. When we ordered, we had to wait longer than was acceptable for our drinks. I'm willing to wait when I eat, but drinks are served quickly. Taste: okay. The casseroles are good, the broccoli cream soup was more of a cream mush. The location is great and it's also a cool atmosphere. However, this restaurant has a very big service deficit. This definitely needs to be improved. Since I have experience in catering myself, I can only recommend urgently training the staff. Mistakes can happen (including multiple faux pas), but rudeness will not be forgiven. That doesn't work at all.

The food - especially the typical Marburg casseroles - is very tasty and inexpensive. The service and atmosphere are also good. BUT: 1. The toilets are an absolute disgrace. 2. and unfortunately this is even worse: the owner insults his guests (one guest had politely complained about the temperature of his schnitzel) and his staff in the worst possible way! He shouts words across the store that I would have to censor here. Something like that doesn't work at all and completely ruined my appetite and good mood. You shouldn't support this person and his restaurants!

We went in a little skeptical but hungry and we both opted for a schnitzel and I must say we were surprised. The food eaten is really good, at least those taken, with generous portions and to satisfy you. Together they serve, in addition to the side dish of fried potatoes or rosemary potatoes, a salad and finally dessert, at no additional cost.

We often like to go to the 1900 Restaurant. But from now on I will never go there again and I definitely can't recommend it. The quality of the food was good, but the behavior of one of the waitresses was not only unfriendly, but also quite aggressive. When other guests went to our side table, the waitress had to clean everything up and put the menus back in place. This made her so aggressive that she even threw a menu. The table was right next to us and she barely missed us. Normally in this job you should be friendlier and more personable, which we didn't experience this time.

Great location in the pedestrian zone, nice squares, the rest is pretty average. Long waiting time, moderately friendly service, pizza that was certainly not freshly made and a salad with withered leaves. Prices are quite ok. Nevertheless: it doesn't have to be that way anymore.
