Butjer in Hannover

The food is truly delicious, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, there are very long wait times during peak hours. While they fairly warn you at the beginning that it might take longer—they initially said it would take about 60 minutes—this has, however, turned into 90 minutes or more on several occasions, both when ordering via Wolt and when eating in. In addition, the fries were forgotten on the last delivery, which, according to Wolt, couldn't be restocked because the amount was too low. Therefore, Butjer is only recommended if you come during off-peak hours or if you have a lot of patience.

The pea protein patties (available as an alternative to the meat patty) taste great smashed. The fries are nice and crispy and can also be combined with vegan sauces. The service staff is friendly and cheerful, and the location may be right on the street, but the noise level is perfectly acceptable!

Unfortunately, I also have to say that I was at Butjer recently and had to wait a full 60 minutes for my order. It's not nice to take orders and then say it will take 60 minutes. After 60 minutes, I arrived and was told I would have to wait another 15 minutes. Sure, the staff is nice, but I don't understand this. I mean, it's two burgers and a portion of fries, why does it take 75 minutes? There were maybe 10 people in the store. In this store, it's only worth calling the moment they open and ordering directly. The food is good, of course, no question about it. But it works smoothly in other stores, too, even though some of them are even busier.

If you're willing to wait forever for your food, this is the place for you. At 6:40 p.m., we were told we'd have to wait 40 minutes for our food. At 7:40 p.m., we still hadn't received our food. After asking, quite normally and politely, where our food was, because other guests who had arrived after us had already had theirs, I was then told it would take another 10 minutes. I asked if we could cancel our meal because we were going to the concert at the Capitol at 7:45 p.m. Out of nowhere, the bartender intervened and accused me, as a customer, of being disrespectful. For me, disrespectful is waiting 60 minutes for a simple burger and fries, while in the meantime, the Wolt driver serves four people who ordered. If I, as a restaurant, have limited capacity and am aware of this fact, I simply can't continue to milk the cow for profit by ordering food if it means restaurant guests have to wait 60 minutes for a fast-food meal. Never again from this place for me.

Really cool place! 🤩 We went to Butjer in Hanover and had a Smash Burger + Fries – absolutely delicious! 🍔🍟 The service was top-notch, super friendly, and attentive. Our bartender was really great and even treated us to a Mexican on the house – really nice! 🌶️ The atmosphere was totally relaxed, and you can tell they work with passion. Definitely recommend it – we'll definitely be back! 🙌

Butjers is a smaller version of its sister restaurant, The Harp, and offers a relatively large pub space with limited seating. They offer smaller and larger smash burgers, as well as numerous fries and a few extras. There's also a rotating burger, which is only discreetly advertised in the shop, or you have to ask for it. There's always a table quiz on Tuesdays, and the atmosphere is nice and cozy. The small burger was a bit too dry for me, but the mac 'n' cheese was really nice and cheesy and creamy. Overall, I just think it's a bit pricey compared to the large burgers.

Very tasty burgers, even if you order them. And on a positive note, I just tried to order on Sunday evening, but was refused because they didn't have enough space... I find that much better than waiting an hour and a half for the food and then being told it's not possible...

If you want to experience really good smash burgers, a relaxed atmosphere, and staff who aren't afraid to crack a joke, this is the place to go. Tuesdays are especially worth a visit. The beer and burgers taste twice as good during the pub quiz. Compared to the Harb, it's much more cozy, quiet, and intimate. Perfect for enjoying a relaxed evening. Ehrenburger also regularly surprises with creative concoctions that are always worth a try. P.S. I would always recommend two sauces with the fries; one is usually not enough ;)

The only thing that bothers me is that at the end when you want to pay you are asked if you want to give a tip. You are put in an uncomfortable situation and in a sense "forced" to have the nerve to ask for a tip.

Unfortunately, it's not what it used to be. No more Martin's potato buns; the new ones aren't as good. They also taste more and more like frozen food these days, and the prices are pretty high for the quality. It's a shame.

But then the Butjer came into my life—and suddenly everything I previously considered a "burger" was just sad minced meat between two buns. The first bite? I'll tell you how: I had tears in my eyes. Not from pain, but from a kind of culinary enlightenment you usually only experience on the Camino de Santiago or at yoga retreats. I swear, for a moment, I heard angelic choirs—or was that just the grill? The burger was so smashed that I almost wanted to apologize to it. And yet: every crumb, every drop of sauce redefined my existence. The fries? Guys, they're so crispy, even chips would turn green with envy. I seriously considered what kind of insurance I needed in case I hurt myself while trying to achieve perfection. And the service? I felt like they'd been waiting just for me. A smile, a comment, a "here's your happiness in a bun" – and that was the best moment of my day. Honestly: Forget Linden, forget Hanover. Butjer is the center of the world. I've already written to travel portals, asking them to offer pilgrimages there. Conclusion: 5 stars aren't enough. I urge the rating system to adjust. At least 12 out of 5. <3 <3 <3

Nice, accommodating service! We chose fish and chips alongside the tasty beer. Then we were informed that they'd run out of vinegar today, so we had fish and chips without vinegar. Good, we thought. Not so bad – the fries and remoulade sauce served with it were hot and decent, respectively – and the cucumber salad we ordered with it was great! The two "fish wedges" – or rather: thick batter with a thin – really thin – fish (?) filling, which was also dry and absolutely tasteless – were unfortunately disappointing. We're used to it. A pub like this doesn't need that, even calling it a classic. I hope the buyer/owner works on this dish or removes it from the menu. Everyone deserves a second chance – we'll wait and see next time! And if in doubt, we'll go for the burger.

The three of us arrived around 6:45 PM, very hungry, and the outside wasn't crowded. Unfortunately, it took a really long time after ordering (over 45 minutes), and in that time, dozens of Wolt drivers were hauling away large bags. That was pretty annoying. The burgers were great, though, and the service was very friendly!

I can be very picky with when i go to places to eat out. I rarely eat out and usually the expirience is average. I am also particular about people working in customer service and actually being hospitable to a customer. It's been a long time since a place has managed all those things. with all that said this place has exceeded my expectations with the friendliness and outstanding taste of the burgers. I used to love ordering here – the burgers were by far the best I've ever eaten. The Cosa Nostra, in particular, was my absolute favorite. But unfortunately, a lot has changed recently: The sauce for the Cosa Nostra has been changed and no longer suits my taste. The Camembert has also become significantly smaller. Furthermore, the buns on all burgers have been redesigned – since then, the whole thing just doesn't taste as good. For the rather high price, I expect more quality and consistency. It's a shame, I was a huge fan – but unfortunately, I can't order here anymore. :/

Drinks are great, like cold Guinness. Cider is great. Nice selection of shots, but Jägermeister could be cold. The veggie burger was a bit too salty, but everything else was great.

Butjer has a large selection of burgers, including vegetarian and vegan. The fries are available in different variations. Everything in itself is very tasty, especially the smashed burgers and the truffle fries. There is always a burger that changes every 3-4 weeks and the kitchen always comes up with unique things, be it a new burger, side dish or dessert. The staff is really friendly and the location is great too. I would definitely go there more often.

It was super delicious. We had the carbonara balls, the dirty burger, and the cheeseburger fries (I don't know what they were called). Everything was so good! The fries were topped with pickles, tomatoes, etc., and smashed beef. All of the dishes were July specials. We'll be back! ❤️

The burger was simply amazing! The bun was very soft, the meat and the veggies were also delicious and flavourful! I took as well fries and mayo with a beer. The fries were crunchy and tasty, not greasy at all, mayo was good nothing fancy and the beer the same. The service was fast and the two waiters were very kind and helpful with their suggestions for the menù. The portion are abundant and if you are not too hungry, the burger alone will be an amazing choice!

We've been big fans of your burgers for years and come here regularly with friends – for us, you're one of the best burger joints in all of Hanover! So, unfortunately, our disappointment with the new burger buns was even greater. The old ones had exactly the right consistency, the perfect taste, and simply fit the overall look perfectly. Many of our friends – and other guests we spoke with – miss the old buns very much. Of course, we still appreciate the quality of your ingredients and your service, but we sincerely hope that you might reconsider bringing back the old burger buns. They were simply part of what made your burger so special.

Not so great experience. We waited almost an hour for our food and the waiters didn’t bother. After almost an hour we were offered shots as compensation when we politely asked why it was taking so long. We were never told once during the entire wait time why there was a delay. No apology at all and the waiters didn’t even bother making eye contact with us. We would have understood if they just came and said they were having a bad day. The restaurant was relatively empty as it was a weekday. We overheard the cook complain that they accepted way too many Wolt orders and prioritised that over their dine-in customers. Food was good otherwise.

Then Butjer in Linden is the place for you. Since October 2021, the pub, founded by the two most famous Linden restaurants, The Harp Linden and Probierbar, has been offering select delicacies. We tried the Drückeburger Classic with fries and Butjer sauce and melted in our mouths. A fluffy, oblong brioche bun, two 70g smashed patties, and crispy gherkins, onions, and cheddar cheese await you. The burgers are also available with Beyond Meat from the butcher. We also recommend the Butjer sauce – simply divine.

Tucked away on the Black Bear, Butjer has a pub-like atmosphere with outdoor seating on the street. A very clean interior is complemented by fresh burgers, draft beer and friendly staff. There may be silent football and soft contemporary music. Reservations are possible, but not mandatory. CARD PAYMENT POSSIBLE

We ordered two chicken burgers (one of them vegetarian) and sweet potato fries to take away. We are really excited, this was definitely one of the best burgers we have eaten so far. Big compliments to the kitchen. Definitely coming back!

They are the best burgers in Hanover and even better than The Harp because there is simply more choice and the taste is better even though they are the same products. Maybe it's the smashed patties that taste incredible when combined with the sauces. Of course the prices are a bit higher, but I'm happy to accept that because of the overall very good taste and many choices. The Butjer is a very small restaurant but that's exactly what makes it special at the end of the day. Everything seems more familiar. And the staff in particular are very friendly and accommodating. It's worth coming here because you can't eat better burgers anywhere else and I've already eaten burgers in various shops all over Germany!

Currently extremely hyped and booked out nearly every day. Completely deserved tho, the vegetarian smash burgers are an absolute treat, the beers are cold and the staff is fast, funny and helpful. The place being rather small overall does not subtract from the atmosphere, rather enhances the familiar feeling. Hidden star: the fries, glassy, crispy exterior, perfect salt levels and soft on the inside. Make sure to get the cauliflower wings as well.

Great idea from Daniel, he hit my nerve with it. Next to the theharp (my favorite) just under 300 meters away is the Butjer, a great shop, great staff, super delicious food, a little smaller but to the point. Early reservation is highly recommended. The Ehrenburger EL Paso was a dream, everything was perfect, it was a pleasure. The TS Bacon is highly recommended, it was also a dream. ❤️ LG Patrick

These are the best smashed burgers I've eaten in my life! I like to try out well-rated burger shops in the USA and Germany, but so far Hannover is the best with Butjer and The Harp! Word gets around about success, which is why there may be longer waiting times. But every minute is worth it!

We went there spontaneously because it was one of the few restaurants in Linden that was open before 5 p.m. We were warmly welcomed, fortunately got a table and what can I say - it was great! The burgers were juicy, fries were crispy, orders were quick, prices were absolutely great, and the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy. This is only surpassed by the friendliness and humorous nature of the employees :-) Until next time 🫶🏻

Very cool shop with charm. Went there for the pub quiz, which was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the quiz master wasn't easy to understand because there was a lot going on. Food, drinks and service were top! The Ehrenburger was great.

Burgers are really tasty! The staff is friendly, everything was served quickly- nothing to complain about) Just a nice burger place!

Sometimes there is a lot going on and then you have to wait. But when, after an hour of waiting, the burgers finally arrive and are cold, then all understanding ends. The only thing that topped this was that the patties were burnt. An isolated case? In our case it affected all three burgers with a total of six patties. You have to get that right first: burning burgers and serving them cold - respect. The evening was over, and the good fries and very good sauces couldn't save it.

Incredibly delicious burgers!! One star deducted because you actually hardly get full. This is of course due to the lack of meat (because it is a smashed pattie) So if you're really hungry, I probably wouldn't go there unless you want to spend a lot of money. Service is top.

Brilliant service combined with great food and an even better atmosphere. I spent a really nice evening in a really nice atmosphere and wonderful service... The restaurant is worth recommending and, of course, leaving a tip for the very nice waiter. Regards and I think I'll come back for another 20 shots of vodka someday.
