BURRO UNCHAINED in Berlin

Everything was great about Burro Unchained - the service, the wine and the cocktails, especially the food. However, and I do not use this word lightly - the Ravioli was perfect, like the best I've ever had and I have Ravioli whenever I see it on the menu. I spent many a frustrating hour learning to make pasta just to make Ravioli. I know Ravioli. Trust me. Perfection. This was the best birthday meal I have had for a very long time.

Service was amazing and so was the win, also quality ingredients for the most part. Giving it is peak season, I was disappointed with the tomato salad. I was not impressed with the quality nor the salt seasoning. Dishes were not worth the prices and portion sizes. I often treat myself to casual fine dining experiences, and I understand prices and service as a consumer… unfortunately this was a boring culinary experience

The food is just another dimension. Congratulations to the chef.

Burro Unchained is one of those rare places that gives you the feeling of having discovered something unique. Away from Berlin's busy, tourist hotspots, you'll find this restaurant in a quieter, lesser-known neighborhood—a neighborhood where Berlin reveals its more authentic side. The warm welcome is immediately noticeable. The team is incredibly friendly and hospitable, making you feel welcome from the very first moment. But the real highlight? The food. The menu is deliberately limited, which is often a good sign—and it more than lives up to that promise here. We chose to share several appetizers and each order a main course. Each dish was equally delicious and surprising, with original combinations and pure flavors. The absolute must-try? The pulpo—so good we immediately ordered a second plate. It's been a long time since we've had such a delicious meal. Burro is a culinary discovery and, in our opinion, a must-visit for anyone who wants to experience Berlin in a different way. In short: Burro is highly recommended.

Mid-range fine dining for a bit poshier food experience in the neighbourhood. Has a nice 3-course weekday menu for slightly less expensive price. Our experience was ruined a bit with a weird bug crawling out from inbetween the menu's first thing when we arrived at the table indoors 😵 But the decor is cool, and service was nice. As expected at this price range.

We have been here several times, and, for our latest visit, we were excited to test out the new menu (summer 2025). Service was lovely and friendly as always but was surprisingly slow this time around. We had to wait at least 20min between each course. As for the food, we ordered a vegetarian menu and a non-vegetarian. I was rather shocked at how little there was if you were to choose the vegetarian meal, especially the main dish. Very little amounts and very few (if any) sources of protein, which left me very hungry and frustrated. Paying for a whole menu and needing to go back home to have more food is the last thing one should be doing after going to a restaurant.. The flavours were a bit dissonant at times for our taste (for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes m) or too “busy”. The rosemary dessert felt like eating an ice cream version of a savoury dish. A bold attempt none of us enjoyed. I hope the next menu will be planned with a bit more consideration for vegetarian and vegan people, who also enjoy consistent, filling meals. One more point that should be improved: I had mentioned gluten intolerance in my reservation, and it was absolutely not taken into consideration. Then why ask for notes on their website if they’re not going to read them? A big let down after our first previous visits, which had been great evenings. We had hope for better.

What a gem this place is! Did the full menu & pairing & some extras. Amazing and inspiring food, very sensitive wine paring, attentive and lovely service, with pricing being moderate in relation to the quality (how refreshing, when it's often the other way around in this area). Atmosphere is cosy and relaxed. Will be a new regular.

A very nice restaurant, very chic inside too. The food is high-quality, hence the price. A set menu is recommended; we had individual dishes. The cauliflower and ravioli were delicious. They also serve excellent cocktails.

Came back for the second time, had the fish/ seafood option. Loved that they were also flexible in swapping out dishes if you prefer vegetarian or meat option for that course. Worth the trip to Neukölln. Best value course meal in berlin. Also w very fun cocktails!

As far as I'm concerned, this is Berlin's best kept secret. The wait staff, ambiance, food (and wine pairings with courses) are top tier - and for the price, INSANE. Your four course meal with wine pairings comes in at under €100 as of my writing this review. And the attention to detail in this place is wonderful. The food? Exemplary. This is my wife and my special occasion spot, hands-down.

A very nice experience even if we were expecting a typical Mexican meal. The meal was excellent for both carnivores and vegetarians, the service impeccable. Our friends will come back with pleasure!

The presentation is visually stunning—borderline Michelin—but the taste doesn’t live up to the promise. The appetizer was acceptable, but the main (polpo) was extremely salty, and the octopus itself was overly chewy. The risotto it came with was undercooked—way too al dente. Dessert didn’t redeem the experience either: it wasn’t clearly sweet or savory, just confused and unbalanced. Overall, style over substance.

We had a surprisingly delicious evening there. We came across the restaurant by chance, it wasn't full so we were served very quickly. The wines recommended for the menu fit in very well, the food was served quickly, and the service and sommelier were friendly. The individual courses were beautifully presented and deliciously composed.

We came here super spontaneously with no expectations and we were blown away. The composition of the food was so well thought of and tested just amazing. A little hidden gem where you least expect it. Definitely worth a try.

Excellent service, spectacular food, great selection of drinks.

First of all... this is not a Mexican restaurant! The two of us were there on Saturday and had reserved a table online beforehand. We actually wanted to go at 7:30 p.m. but unfortunately there was no table. We booked at 6:30 p.m., but there would still have been a lot available at 7:30 p.m. No matter, we were there for happy hour until 7 p.m. and everyone had two delicious margaritas. There are two menus (vegetarian & meat/fish) with 4 courses each. But you can also switch back and forth, so it's not fixed 👍🏽. You can also order individual courses a la carte. Everything was very tasty for us, especially the roast beef was very tasty. Finally, an espresso or just another margarita 😁, this time in the spicy version (only people who really like spicy should drink it 🔥). The waitresses spoke English and were very friendly and attentive. The courses were explained again when served. The furnishings in “Neukölln Style”…industrial (we liked it) are, like everything, a matter of taste. The prices aren't exactly low, but they're ok for the overall package and keep a certain audience away (after all, you're in Nkln). I deducted one point in the ambience because of the music. Jazz was playing throughout...that's hardcore 🥴.

I was there today. The people were very nice and the place was very clean. Therefore, I can say that this place will be my place forever from now on.

A great dining experience! You can‘t go wrong. The menus are so well curated and the food is delicious. The waiters are very nice.

We had a fantastic evening! The price-performance ratio is absolutely right - a 4-course menu for 65 euros and the quality is rare these days. We were impressed by every course, but there was still a bit of room for improvement when it came to dessert and the wine list. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We were particularly impressed by the gesture that after a spilled champagne (by another guest) we got a new one on the house - that shows real service! Simply recommended! Please keep it up. Had my team event at this spot.. as a marketing guru, I would say customer excellence experience wast top notch. 💯💯, the manager there, Italian Berlin dude understands the assignment. Highly recommend it !!

Innovative restaurant with a small selection but very tasty food and great service

Two stars, not because it’s bad but because it’s super overpriced for what it is. It’s a super chilled out vibe and very street food decor style. The food didn’t match the vibe at all, and the drinks menu was completely off and more like a taqueria. Service was nice though a bit pushy :)

The price is a little high but the dishes are signature and very delicious, better than I expected. The waitress very friendly. Recommended.

A very relaxed restaurant with very attentive and friendly service (mainly English). The food is characterized by exciting ideas, even if they are sometimes not yet completely balanced. In any case, you can easily spend an evening here. The dessert (and I write this as a dessert person) is definitely a highlight.

Food arrived cold and we had to wait 20mins between dishes. The Amuse buche was a cold rosti and friends that were sharing a menu had to share it -immagine splitting an amuse buche! The deserts were also disappointing. In the end we spent 130€ each - 60 meat+fish menu and a couple of drinks,water and bread. However drinks were good and vibe was enjoyable - the waitresses were particularly polite and friendly. Very very expensive for what it was - not going again.

The food is quite ordinary, with a mention for desserts; the wines are very average. The real problem is the service: unpleasant and not very competent. when you want to be at the top of the basket, you have to recruit accordingly. I won't come back.

We had a great meal tonight. I took the vegetarian menu and enjoyed it. The meat/fish options were also great. The service and man behind the bar really thought along. Friendly and correct. In short, highly recommended. The flavors are really beautiful and appropriate! Recommended!!!

Creative dishes with a touch of Mexican cuisine - everything interpreted in a modern way and no failures. In addition, very friendly and professional service. The only thing that can be improved is the ambience. Our table shook. ;)

The atmosphere is really nice. However the food really tastes nothing. We ordered the ravioli, cauliflower and the mushroom dishes. Every food was very small portions and tastes like nothing. The price was too high for what it is. The service was so so slow that we waited more than 20 minutes in between courses. At the end we paid 100 euro for three dishes and we left hungry. I wouldn’t go there again.

Nice little place. We were thrilled with the food and the team.

The food and service were really great until we were chased away from our table after 1 1/2 hours with a “We need the table” without any warning. The table was even re-set while we were still sitting there and hadn't even paid yet. That was really a disgrace. As nice as the evening was, it ended with this very rude experience when you realize how much money we left in this restaurant.

We were a group of 8 people for my birthday. Every dish across the board was just sooooo delicious! It is possible to combine the menus with each other! In my opinion, this is important information :) and you can also eat every single dish a la carte. The service was super nice. We had a really great evening!

We had a fantastic evening at Burro with excellent food and great service. We opted for the 3-course menu (55 euros) and got our money's worth. Incredibly tasty and filling. Plus really good cocktails and all at a very fair price. The comment from a couple at the next table says it all: "Alta, that's awesome" We'll be back!

It’s that time of the year to get together and book the “Bier, Boarden & Bouletten”-Trip and finish up the planning with some serious bookings. 😁 And what better occasion than that to get together for a nice meal. Burro offers a 4-course-meal for €55. But you can also order all the dishes from the menu a la carte. They offer vegetarian and fish / meat options for each course. My personal favorite was the pulpo dish but the blood sausage looked really good as well! 🤤👌🏼 A lovely and relaxed place to enjoy a lovely meal. 👍🏼

Had a lovely evening with very tasty food at Burro. We decided on the menu and were both absolutely thrilled with the dishes. I tried the black pudding and it was incredibly tasty. Roast beef on cauliflower also on deb point. The cheesecake and the rosemary ice cream were also included. Drink selection also very good. Price/performance is simply top. We'd love to come back.

In the middle of Neukölln. You have to like the area. The food as a 3 course menu was great. However, German wines didn't work at all. However, upon request there was still an Argentinian wine

Fue una experiencia perfecta: El servicio era super en su punto (tal vez podría ser posible describir el plato cuando llevar a la mesa traerá el servicio en otro nivel) , nuestra camarera era super amable y encantadora. La comida era perfecta, nos dieron un menú de tres platos cada uno y un entrante y un postre para compartir, estábamos llenos y felices. Puedes ir allí con los ojos cerrados, el estado de ánimo de la comida, el precio vale la pena. Gracias por esta noche

Dining here was an experience for my taste buds, my stomach and my eyes. Each dish was delicious and served in a very pretty manner. The beef with shrimp was diving and the desserts were truly excellent. I'm very happy I had a chance to dine here.

Great atmosphere, delicious food

In the era of disappointing experiences, this is something that will positively surprise you 🤩

Unfortunately rather disappointing. I had the menu and it was mixed. The starter was delicious, something with edamame. The burrata was dry, tasteless and very rubbery, more like mozzarella that was a little too old. The prawns with strips of beef were tasty, but extremely salty and spicy, so after a few forkfuls it was too much for me. The dessert was boring. The drinks were 50/50, some good, some were extremely alcoholic and only tasted like the onion that was in there. The service was very slow, we had to ask several times for water and drinks, the bread was forgotten and only brought to the main course, etc. The employees were friendly, but very slow and sloppy. I wouldn't go there again.

4 course menu for two people - chose Land and Sea. The total cost included two cocktails, bottle of water, 2 glasses of wine, an espresso and tip. Excellent service.

Friendly, quite tasty, small enough portions. But don't worry about the taste. Therefore “slightly” too expensive for the prices. We waited about an hour between the 2nd and 3rd courses. Twice someone came and noticed that we were still waiting and they apologized. There would be a lot going on right now. Given the price range, I would expect that the apology would be underlined with a small drink on the house or that dessert would be offered for free. I've been there 3 times in the last 2 years. The first time actually “blown me away”. Yesterday we left 136 euros plus an 8 euro tip for 2 people. The wine was boring. The cocktail was good, but damn small for 12 euros. We didn't want dessert. We were full. Otherwise. I'll definitely go there again in a few months.

This place was recommended by the front office staff at Courtyard and it was amazing! Every course from the start to the end was fantastic and their ravioli (ordered as a additional main course) was to die for!

A small shop where you should definitely make a reservation. Extremely friendly and competent service. The food is very good and chic. The shop is more for people who enjoy food than for those who eat a lot Parking is almost impossible in the corner. Attention: this is not Mexican! 😉

Love this place for its wonderful dishes at a friendly price. The quality is outstanding and the presentation surpasses expectations. The wine selection is again VFM and no fuss. The service is friendly not pushy or persuasive. You can’t fault the menu and preparation of dishes. It’s all soooo lovely. Thank you - we will be back for more soon!

Overall successful and good value for money! Food is available either from a menu or a la carte - but in principle it is flexible and you can always swap individual courses between veggie/meat. Service was also super friendly and every course tasted delicious - only the Madeltarte was too lemony for me 🥲but the dishes are very creative, beautiful to look at and perfectly seasoned :)

Very tasty and beautifully presented food; friendly service and nice atmosphere. The ceviche is a dream! A little sweet potato and/or roasted corn might make it even more amazing. But really great! In my opinion, the rather sweet bread with the pulp and mussels doesn't go well, but that's certainly a very subjective feeling. In my opinion, the bread with butter is quite overpriced at €5 and should actually be included in the menu. But what I don't think is possible at all is that both dessert options contain alcohol, but it is only specified for one option (limoncello)! Luckily, when we talked to the waitress, we discovered that there was also alcohol in the sauce for the chocolate soufflé! Something like this must be indicated on the card. What about pregnant women, dry alcoholics, children? Looking at the description (chocolate souffle with fleur de sel, walnut, jalapeño), no one would guess that there could be alcohol in it! Please be sure to point it out on the map!

The food was visually beautiful and very appealing, but unfortunately the taste didn't live up to it for me. I also expected (refined) Mexican cuisine that loves the variety of intense flavors. My expectations were not met. The Magaritas were excellent with great mescal, the service was generally friendly, although a bit inattentive for this price range. In short: It is important not to expect Mexican food, the presentation/description was here for me Misleading.

Great 4-course menu and super nice service

My friend’s birthday dinner here was perfect!! The vibes are fun, the servers are SO nice (and were extremely helpful in explaining what menu items worked for my friend with complex dietary needs), the food was both beautiful and delicious (and served in quite large portions), and the drinks were great! Like I said, perfect.

From the beginning till the end a place of perfection, harmony, love and passion in everything they offer there. Its pure joy to see how Bar and Service have a permanent smile on there faces. Gently small talk, great knowledge of the menus and drinks makes it even more easy to try everything out. Take your time there. The cocktails are awesome and worth any cent. The prices are absolut normal for that type of service. So cry somewhere ells if you dont have some cash in tha pocket😴 With 25 years as a chef and hotel manager on my shoulders, i only can salut to the chef and his team. Pure creativity, love in every bite. A presentation, which is far beyond the regular 5* Hotels. The chef knows what he is doing and offers a absolute great selection of dishes and different flavours for all types. Thank so much, again for this wonderful evening. We took the meat&fish menu and all the plates were great, well presented and portions were abundant. The staff was attentive and kind. Great value for money, totally recommended
